**********
Trent Beretta (w/Kris Statlander & Orange Cassidy) defeated Peter Avalon
This was surprisingly good, if only for the fact that Avalon usually never gets anything resembling shine.
Beretta had the upper hand until Avalon sent Beretta into the corner post, before following up with a crossbody to the floor. Avalon got in Cassidy’s face, which allowed Beretta to hit a big back body drop on the floor. Beretta went for a spear into the barricade – the Roman Reigns Special – but Avalon moved, with Beretta crashing into the barricade. Avalon hit a high cross for a nearfall.
Avalon went to the middle rope, but Beretta yanked Avalon down into a Saito suplex. Beretta hit a pair of German suplexes before hitting a half-and-half suplex. Beretta hit the running knee for a nearfall. Avalon pushed out of a tornado DDT before hitting a superkick. Avalon followed with a springboard crossbody for a nearfall. Beretta went for a top rope hurricanrana, but Avalon rolled through for a nearfall. Avalon reversed a piledriver into a Tombstone of his own for a nearfall.
Beretta sent Avalon to the apron. Avalon went over the top for a sunset flip, but Beretta caught him in with the Strong Zero for the win. It was announced that next week, Beretta will challenge ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata for the title next week.
Dalton Castle was backstage with Lexy Nair. He was confident heading into his ROH World Title match against Eddie Kingston because he was better than Kingston. Castle said that Kingston’s only chance at winning would be to score a knockout.
The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) defeated Jacoby Watts & Sebastian Wolfe
Watts took the microphone to introduce himself and his partner before the Outrunners jumped them from behind. They worked on Wolfe for a few minutes before Wolfe got the tag out to Watts. Watts ran wild before the Outrunners sent him to the floor. The Outrunners hit Wolfe with a double-team powerslam for the win.
Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal were backstage with Lexy Nair. They knew that their tenure didn’t mean anything when going against their opponents El Hijo Del Vikingo & Komander, but they were ready for the challenge.
Emi Sakura defeated Kel
The taller Kel teasingly called for a test of strength, but Sakura punched her in the gut and locked her in a surfboard stretch. Kel came back with a bicycle kick for a nearfall, but Sakura avoided a corner kick and repeatedly chopped Kel. Sakura hit a crossbody in the corner before hitting a butterfly backbreaker for the win.
The Outrunners were backstage with Lexy Nair. They hyped themselves up as the best team in ROH.
The Boys (Brandon & Brent) defeated The Bollywood Boyz (Gurv Sihra & Harv Sihra)
The Boys wrestled with modified peacock masks on. The Bollywood Boys hit a tag team combination in their corner, ending with a middle-rope bulldog from Harv for a nearfall. Brandon got the tag out to Brent, who ran wild. He hit a dive onto Harv before double-stomping Gurv for a nearfall. The Bollywood Boys hit a Demolition Decapitation for a nearfall that was broken up by Brandon. Brent hit Sole Food before hitting a pendulum slam for the win.
Ring of Honor Television Title Announcement
The logical decision was to crown a new champion at Final Battle. The qualifying matches will add some juice to the television shows for the next few weeks.
Tony Khan was backstage, where he announced that a new ROH Television Champion would be crowned at Final Battle in a six-way Survival of the Fittest match. Qualifying matches would be happening in the next few weeks to determine the competitors in that match.
Charlette & Robyn Renegade were backstage with Lexy Nair. They talked up their chemistry as sisters and as a team as opposed to their opponents, Leyla Hirsch & Rachel Ellering. Maria Kanellis entered the scene, asking to have a word with the Renegades off-screen.
Athena feigned a handshake before punching Robbie in the face. Robbie outpaced Athena on the apron, but Athena countered a sunset flip into a powerbomb. Robbie hit Starkz with a jawbreaker before tagging Havok, who hit a wacky bodyscissors into a DDT for a nearfall. Athena cut off Havok with a knee to the back, allowing Starkz to forearm Havok. Starkz menaced the referee, much like Athena usually does. Athena tagged in and hit the Despicable Knee for the win.
After the match, Starkz put Robbie in a crossface before Athena put Havok in one as well. Athena looked impressed with her minion.
Ethan Page was backstage with Lexy Nair. He was happy with costing Tony Nese his match last week before Nese and Mark Sterling entered the scene. Sterling and Nese complained before reminding Page that Nese had already beaten him. Page challenged Nese to a rematch as he did weeks ago, this time with Nese accepting the challenge.
Hirsch handled the Renegades by herself, hitting the pendulum dropkick in the corner for a nearfall. Ellering tagged in, hitting a double shoulder block with Hirsch. Charlette covered Hirsch’s eyes with her headband before tagging in Robyn, who hit a high crossbody for a nearfall. The Renegades double-teamed Ellering, hitting a double suplex for a nearfall.
Ellering fought her way to the corner and tagged in Hirsch, who ran wild on the Renegades. She hit a gutwrench suplex on one Renegade onto the other before hitting a running knee for a nearfall. Hirsch set up Ellering for a running uppercut for a nearfall. The Renegades tried to double team Ellering, but Ellering sent them into each other and got the win with a sunset flip. Hirsch was on the floor tending to her braced knee, when Maria Kanellis came out to check on her. Hirsch got helped from ringside.
Athena & Billie Starkz were backstage with Lexy Nair. Athena was mildly impressed with Starkz, then told Starkz and Nair that they would either step up as minions or Athena wouldn’t be happy.
Marina Shafir defeated Amira
Shoutout to Rich Latta on the track for Marina Shafir. Shafir controlled the match early until Amira fought her off and made a small comeback. Shafir booted – well, footed – Amira in the face before hitting a judo slam. Shafir locked on a Darce Choke and got the stoppage.
El Hijo del Vikingo & Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal
An awesome tag match here. I love ROH hosting these lucha showcases every week, as they have the talent in AEW to keep up with the AAA stars.
Sydal and Vikingo got into a pinning predicament before reversing each other’s armdrags. Daniels and Komander tagged in, with Komander entering the ring with a flourish. Daniels got double-teamed by Vikingo and Komander, with Vikingo vaulting off of Komander’s back to hit a dropkick. They hit a double 619 before Komander hit a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Sydal held onto Daniels on an Irish Whip, allowing Daniels to drop Komander on the ropes and tag out.
Daniels and Sydal worked on Komander, with Sydal hitting a corkscrew senton for a nearfall. Daniels hit a pair of bodyslams before clubbing him with a lariat. Sydal hit a vaulting Meteora for a nearfall before tying Komander up into a bow and arrow submission. Sydal caught Komander with a back kick, leading to a Daniels STO for a nearfall. Komander fought his way to the corner and tagged in Vikingo, who ran wild on both men. Vikingo hit a double-jump Crucifix Bomb for a nearfall broken up by Daniels. We got a Pier Six brawl that ended with a Daniels STO.
Daniels and Sydal hit a powerbomb/meteora combination for a nearfall. Komander hit a plancha on Sydal as Vikingo hit a springboard crossbody on Daniels. Vikingo hit running knees in the corner, then set him up for Komander’s ropewalk 450 splash. Komander dove onto Sydal as Vikingo hit a frog splash for the win.
ROH World Title Match – Eddie Kingston defeated Dalton Castle (w/Brandon & Brent) to retain
This was a gritty fight between these two, which while against character for Castle, was a great battle between the two.
Castle stalled for a while before taking Kingston to the mat with a single-leg takedown. Kingston chopped Castle away, but Castle caught Kingston with a back elbow. Castle hit repeated splashes to the stomach before Kingston got his knees up. Castle hit another back elbow to take Kingston down again. Kingston fought off another Castle takedown, kneeing Castle in the gut before hitting a double stomp to the gut for a nearfall.
Castle caught Kingston in the corner with running knees before hitting a Slingblade bulldog for a nearfall. Kingston caught Castle with a boot on a corner charge, but Castle booted Kingston to the apron before Castle kneed him to the floor. Kingston hit a lariat to cut Castle down. Kingston hit the machine gun chops in the corner before sending Castle flying with a T-Bone suplex. Castle feigned going down before hitting a pair of suplexes of his own.
Castle laid in strikes before going for Bangarang, but Kingston hit the Backfist for a nearfall. Kingston pulled Castle up and hit a second Backfist. Castle tried to fire up, but Kingston hit a half-and-half suplex before hitting a third Backfist to score the win. After the match, Kingston said that this match was for Mr. Brodie Lee, whom both men were close to.
After replays, Eddie Kingston was backstage with Lexy Nair. Kingston was tired, not because of his schedule as champion, but because he saw other World Champions not doing their job. They would get six or seven segments a show, while not raising the tides of the company that they worked for. Guys like him, Orange Cassidy, and Moxley were the tide, and he would be a true champion for the fans of Ring of Honor. I would call that a veiled shot at MJF, but a veil provides some kind of cover.
Two new bouts have been announced for tonight’s AEW Collision from Oakland, California.
Roderick Strong will return to action against Darius Martin after a backstage confrontation that included Strong, The Kingdom, Martin and Action Andretti.
This will be Strong’s first match since a mid-September loss to Samoa Joe in a World title eliminator tournament.
Nick Wayne will face former Ring of Honor World Champion Dalton Castle for the first time ever. This will be Wayne’s first televised AEW match since a loss to Luchasaurus as part of October’s WrestleDream pre-show.
Castle is coming off a failed attempt to win the AEW Trios titles with The Boys and will also challenge ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston on this Thursday’s ROH on HonorClub.
Here’s the current lineup that was taped Friday:
Sting, Darby Allin & Adam Copeland vs. Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch)
La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush & Dralistico) vs. The WorkHorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)
Eddie Kingston vs. Dalton Castle for the ROH World Championship will air on the Thursday, November 16 Ring of Honor TV episode.
Following Kingston successful title defense against Angelico in the main event of this week’s show, Castle cut a promo in a backstage segment challenging Kingston for his World title. A graphic made the bout official for next week’s episode.
The Kingston vs. Castle title bout was announced by AEW on Wednesday this week prior to the Dynamite taping in Portland, Oregon, and the match was taped following Dynamite’s airing on Wednesday night.
Kingston defeated Claudio Castagnoli to win the ROH title at Dynamite Grand Slam on September 20 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. He has since successfully defended the title against Katsuyori Shibata at WrestleDream, Komander on Collision, Minoru Suzuki on Dynamite, and Angelico on Ring of Honor TV.
Our full report from Thursday’s Ring of Honor TV episode can be found here.
Ring of Honor World Champion Eddie Kingston will put his title on the line against Dalton Castle from Portland, Oregon, tonight.
However, it wasn’t specified whether the match will air live on AEW Dynamite or if it will be taped afterward as neither the graphic above, nor the announcement tweet, mentioned Dynamite. Both Rampage and Collision are live on Friday so it’s possible it will be taped for an ROH episode after the live Dynamite.
Kingston is celebrating his 50th day as ROH Champion and will be looking for the fourth defense of his title. He is also scheduled to defend against Angelico on Thursday’s ROH on HonorClub.
Castle is a former ROH World Champion, holding the gold from December 2017 through June 2018. He was last seen with The Boys, unsuccessfully wresting the AEW Trios titles from The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn on last Saturday’s Collision.
This will also be a first time ever matchup.
Here’s the current lineup for AEW Dynamite:
AEW World Champion MJF defends against Daniel Garcia
ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defends against Keith Lee
Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Outrunners
Jay White vs. Mark Briscoe
Tony Schiavone sits down with Hikaru Shida and Timeless Toni Storm
Swerve Strickland vs. Penta El Zero Miedo

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega promo
Also announced for tonight:
ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston defends against Dalton Castle
Stokely Hathaway will be in tag team action on Thursday’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub as he teams with ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe to face The Boys (Brent & Brandon Tate).
The match was made during a recent promo. Dalton Castle confronted Hathaway about the TV Title eliminator tournament. Joe walked into the segment and declared the match would happen, much to the dismay of Hathaway.
Former ROH Pure Champion Josh Woods will take on former partner Silas Young in a Pure rules match. Last week, Woods decided to part ways with the Varsity Athletes and go out on his own.
ROH Women’s Champion Athena will return to non-title action on a long ROH winning streak as she faces Brittany J in a Proving Ground match.
After defeating Robyn Renegade last week, Billie Starkz will take on Robyn’s sister Charlette Renegade who jumped Starkz after the victory.
Lady Frost will go head-to-head with Trish Adora.

Gravity defeated Gringo Loco
Poor Gravity got crushed twice in this match with the full weight of Loco on him, but somehow survived to win the match. This was a spot fest all the way, but a fun one.
Gravity decided to use his name to his advantage, hitting a splash early on for a two count. Loco used his size to his advantage, pressing Gravity into the air and then catching him in a fallaway slam for a two count. Loco hit a chop and played to the crowd before hitting another chop in the corner and Irish whipping Gravity to the corner. Gravity ran up the ropes and back flipped off before turning around and powerslaming a charging Gringo Loco. That was cool.
Loco shoved Gravity to the floor and hit a double jump springboard moonsault to the floor on Gravity. What a loco spot, pardon the pun. Loco then absolutely crushed Gravity with a brutal springboard twisting senton, causing Gravity to become victim to his own name. Gravity, somehow not a pancake, shoved Loco to the outside and then rolled up the to the top rope, launched himself over the post, and hit a hurricanrana on Loco on the floor.
Gravity missed a 450 splash and Loco countered into a standing Spanish fly as Gravity got back up. Gravity tried to float over into a sunset flip bomb, but he lost his grip and was crushed again by Loco falling backwards and landing right on his face. Gravity and Loco went to the top rope and Loco hit some sort of a torture rack suplex off the top rope for a 2-count. Gravity and Loco went to the ropes again and Gravity hit a Samoan drop off the middle rope before hitting a splash for the pin.
Josh Woods defeated Silas Young in a Pure Rules match
Good technical match from Woods and Young with an awesome finish.
Woods refused a handshake from Young, who applauded because he was in favour of Woods having an attitude now. Young and Woods locked up and Young hit a drop toe hold causing Woods to grab the ropes as he went down, which counted as a rope break. Young and Woods locked up again, and Woods was able to take him down, but Young did counter out of a Chaos Theory for a 2-count.
Woods sent Young crashing into the ropes and then drove him shoulder first into the turnbuckle. The announcers noted that Woods was way more focused without Mark Sterling in his corner, and while using the rough tactics that Young and Sterling had taught him over the years, he was looking far stronger here. Young, trying to avoid further damage to the arm, kept going for pinfall attempts to keep Woods at bay.
Woods stood up and punched Young right in the face to break up the pinfall attempts, getting his one warning, and then hit a running twisting vertical suplex into the corner dropping Young right on his head for the win. That was a brutal finish, and the crowd reacted strongly to it. They got something with Woods here, I think.
–Maria Kanellis Bennett was backstage, saying she was scouting for an army to protect her kingdom. Leyla Hirsch walked in and said that there was nothing Maria could do for her, but Maria said that she could provide some real competition for her, and said Hirsch would face Rachel Ellering later.
Athena defeated Brittany J in a Proving Ground match
This was an awesome squash match, as Athena continues to be awesome in ROH.
Athena got rolled up early as she played to the crowd, but Athena made her pay soon thereafter pulling Brittany J from the apron to the floor and then brutally throwing her into the guardrail with a crash. Athena screamed at Ian Riccaboni before returning to the ring and countering a headscissors with a cartwheel and hitting a pop-up powerbomb and a brutal forearm for the win.
–Robyn & Charlette Renegade ran down after the match and started beating on Athena. Billie Starkz ran down to the ring to make the save and drive the twins out of the ring.
Samoa Joe & Stokley Hathaway defeated The Boys (Brandon & Brent)
Stokely wanted to get involved in the match, so Joe let him a few times between the easy beating Joe was giving The Boys. Stokley claimed he wanted to get the win when Joe went for the muscle buster, so Joe held one of the Boys and then walked away with said boy as Stokely flew off the ropes and crashed and burned before choking out said Boy. Joe wins. So does Stokely. Sort of.
–Billie Starkz was with Lexy Nair and it was announced she would be facing Charlette Renegade. The Renegade Twins walked up and trash talked Starkz before the end of the interview.
The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun) (w/ Prince Nana) defeated Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal
The Gates of Agony briefly got the heat on Daniels, but he was able to hit a drop toe hold and tag out to Sydal, who hit a standing twisting senton on Kaun for a 2-count. Daniels and Sydal then hit a drop toe hold. Daniels was ready to go for the Best Moonsault Ever, but Kaun was able to shove Daniels away, and Liona hit a clothesline on Daniels to get the advantage.
Liona crushed Daniels as Kaun hit a backstabber and Liona hit a splash, but Sydal broke up the pinfall. Kaun locked on a sleeper before hitting a uranage into a backbreaker on Daniels. Daniels was able to tag out Sydal, but it didn’t go very well over the next few minutes, as Daniels came back in and ate a fireman’s carry into a gutbuster for the pin.
Madison Rayne defeated Dani Mo
This was not very good. Rayne looked a bit rough. Rayne went for a neckbreaker on Mo, but Mo fell a bit early and may have actually whiplashed her neck on the way down. Mo faked Rayne out with a kick to the head only to hit the stomach. Rayne then just grabbed Mo and hit a Cross Rayne for the win. This was not good.
The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Jon Silver, & Alex Renyolds) defeated Corey Calhoun, Isaiah Broner, & Lord Crewe
Evil Uno started the match with Broner. As The Dark Order was beating on Broner, Stu Grayson came out to the ramp and distracted them, leading to Calhoun being able to roll Renyolds up for a 2-count. This did not last long as Dark Order took Calhoun to the dark realm for the pinfall.
–Claudio Castagnoli was backstage, saying that while he was not in the arena tonight, he was very much there, and that no one he has faced has given him a run for his money. Castagnoli talked about when he lost the ROH World Championship to Chris Jericho, and how he took the title back from Jericho, learning that the only thing that mattered was that he had a simple job – to keep the ROH World Championship from people who were not worthy of it, like Eddie Kingston, PAC, and Mark Briscoe, and he was really good at his job. This was a great promo.
Cole Karter defeated Griff Garrison
Garrison had some fire in this one, going right after Karter, hitting a series of hard chops, strikes, and then a falcon arrow for a 2-count. Karter looked rough in this one, but showed some good heel instincts despite the rough offence. As Karter hit a weird dominator type slam for the win, Maria Kanellis walked down to the ring and whispered something in Karter’s ear before leaving.
Billie Starkz defeated Charlette Renegade
Charlette did not abide by the Code of Honor, hitting a hard forearm in the handshake, before beating on Starkz for a bit. Starkz tried to escape to the floor but got distracted by Robyn, and Renegade jumped off the apron to continue the attack. Charlette grabbed Starkz by the nose and pulled back with a camel clutch.
Starkz hit a kick to Charlette, but was cut off on the ropes by Robyn, who did so right in front of the referee. Oops. Charlette hit a superplex, but Starkz rolled through into a Last Shot for a 2-count. Renegade managed to hit a landslide for a 2-count, but Starkz was able to hit a neutralizer type move for the win.
–Robyn Renegade ran in and the Renegade Twins started beating on Starkz, but Athena ran down and made the save. As they faced off, Athena told Starkz to duck, and then both women hit a dive on the twins. Athena challenged Starkz to a fight in a joking way, and Starkz offered a handshake, but Athena refused. Athena then said, “Come on, minion! Let’s go!” Starkz followed with hesitation, as the announcers noted she might not be able to trust Athena.
–Ari Davari & Tony Nese were backstage, and Nese talked about why he was trying to get the fans to do work outs with him, and how frustrating it is that he gets interrupted by someone as he tries to make the lives of the fans better. Nese said Mark Sterling promised he would have the floor tonight, and they were going to have a full group training session as the fans needed it badly with how out of shape they were.
Lee Johnson, Action Andretti, & Darius Martin defeated Lee Moriarty & The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)
This was a really good match with a finish that the crowd didn’t seem to expect.
Johnson & Moriarty started the match with a really nice exchange. Moriarty tried to escape the grasp of Martin and Andretti but fell victim to several double team moves that also took out Drake and Henry. Moriarty and Johnson resumed their exchange, but Henry hit a knee to the back of Johnson letting Moriarty tag out to Drake, who leveled Johnson with a Bossman slam. Henry tagged in and hit some very hard kicks to Johnson. Johnson ducked an attack and tagged out to Andretti, who ran wild hitting a dive on Henry on the floor but missing a 450 splash on Moriarty.
Andretti hit a standing Spanish fly instead, but was soon falling victim to Drake and Henry hitting a pop-up powerbomb for a 2-count thata was broken up by Martin. Martin ate a massive twisting butterfly suplex from Drake but Andretti broke it up. Andretti countered an O’Connor roll with a bridge and got the pinfall on Henry.
–Athena was with Lexy Nair and she brought in Billie Starkz. Athena assigned a minion number to Starkz, but Starkz said it wasn’t what was important as they had to deal with the Renegade Twins, challenging them to a tag match next week. Athena said that Starkz shouldn’t think, since that was not her roll, and she intimidated Nair into agreeing with her before demanding that Starkz drive them to the mall.
Lady Frost defeated Trish Adora
Frost looked good in this match, especially at the finish with the corkscrew moonsault for the win.
Frost slipped slightly on a handspring, but they played it right, letting Adora take it as an opportunity to kick Frost in the head and get the advantage. Adora then did a stretch behind Frost before putting her foot on the back of Frost’s head and driving it to the mat. Adora then did the splits on the shoulder of Frost, driving her head down to the mat while she was seated. That looked brutal.
Adora hit a standing crossbody for a 2-count before hitting a German suplex. Adora hit a sternum breaker in the corner for a 2-count. Frost ducked a clothesline and hit a spinning kick for a 2-count before hitting a Frostbite for the pin.
–Kiera Hogan was with Lexy Nair and talked about how she has been keeping her eyes on Lady Frost. She said she was going to put her fire against Frost, melting the ice.
Leyla Hirsch defeated Rachel Ellering
This was a short match, but I liked it.
Ellering was given a lot in this match, hitting a nice brainbuster while selling her arm that Hirsch worked over with an armbar earlier in the match. Hirsch, I think, was a heel, but the crowd seemed to wanting to root for her. Hirsch floated over onto the back of Ellering after a corner charge, locking on a sleeper and then transitioning to an octopus stretch. Ellering fought out, but Hirsch was able to counter a pinfall attempt after a Bossman slam into a crucifix pin before transitioning into an armbar for the submission.
Dalton Castle defeated Peter Avalon
Dalton Castle is the best, and he should be on TV every single week on every show.
Avalon looked very shocked at the charisma of Dalton Castle. Castle yelled at Avalon as he tried to escape Castle’s grasp, saying, “You wiggle away from me again and I’ll rip your face off!” I laughed. Castle proceeded to suplex Avalon around the ring. Castle got the win soon thereafter and yelled to the camera that he was going to take the ROH Television championship before long.
–Shane Taylor was with Lexy Nair, and talking about how in the past with ROH, he was established as the greatest TV champion, greatest six-man champion, and greatest stable of all time in ROH, but people only wanted to talk about the old guard, and he was going to finally put that to rest when he got to fight them, and specifically Samoa Joe because he wanted his ROH Television championship back. Awesome promo.
–Tony Nese came out and claimed that his match was cancelled, so he was going to lead the crowd in the workout. The crowd actually started to participate before Metalik made Jerry Lynn came out and informed Nese that his lawyer was wrong, and that Tony Khan was a bit tired of Nese trying to avoid wrestling, so he was facing someone who he was familiar with tonight.
Metalik defeated Tony Nese
Metalik is such a fantastic wrestler, and I really hope he is given a chance to get over in ROH and AEW.
Metalik and Tony Nese reunite as 205 Live lives on in ROH. After some early heat from Nese, Metalik hit a Asai Moonsault to the floor on Nese, kicking Nese right in the back off the head hard as they went down. Both guys seemed fine, but both landed hard there. Nese fought out of a fireman’s carry and hit a powerbomb on Metalik for a 2-count. Metalik hit a superkick on a running Nese before hitting a landslide on Nese for the win.
Final Thoughts
Good episode of ROH on HonorClub tonight. I’m not sure if the show really needed to be 2 hours and 14 minutes long, but the angles they advanced were good, and the matches were largely good too. I think they are trying to find a balance with the shows after Dark and Elevation were cancelled, providing chances for younger stars to get reps while also trying to advance angles for the bigger stars. They definitely achieved that tonight.
The finals of the Ring of Honor TV title eliminator tournament will take place on Thursday’s ROH on HonorClub as Shane Taylor will battle Gravity for a future shot at current champion Samoa Joe.
Gravity defeated Tony Nese on last week’s episode to earn his place in the finals while Taylor beat Christopher Daniels in the other semifinal.
Joe, meanwhile, successfully defended his TV title against Dalton Castle at Death Before Dishonor last month. Joe also defeated Gravity on the July 29th AEW Dynamite.
As part of the four matches announced for Thursday, Dalton Castle will square off against Slim J. Despite coming up short against Joe, Castle bounced back with a win against Zack Clayton on last week’s ROH TV.
After successfully defending her ROH Women’s Championship against Diamante last week, Athena will be in action against an opponent to be named.
Robyn Renegade will look to follow up her win last week against Christina Marie as she is set to step in the ring against Billie Starkz.
Here’s the current card for Thursday’s ROH TV on HonorClub with more expected to come this week:

This week’s ROH emanated from Calgary, Alberta, Canada in the Saddledome as part of last Saturday’s AEW Collision tapings. Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were on commentary.
We start with a video package hyping the Pure Title match between Daniel Garcia and Katsuyori Shibata at Death Before Dishonor. Since last week, we’ve had five title matches set for the PPV, including an ROH World Title match against Claudio Castagnoli and PAC.
Pure Rules Match – Daniel Garcia defeated Jason Geiger
This was a good opener, although I do wonder why Garcia gave so much offense to a local yokel before a PPV Title match.
The judges for this match were Matt Taven, Christopher Daniels, and Jerry Lynn.
The announcers hyped Geiger’s jiu-jitsu prowess, noting his high ranks in both Canada and the US. Garcia knocked down Geiger with a shoulder block but waved off his dance to boos. He changed his mind after escaping a headscissors, dancing in Geiger’s face. Geiger got some shots in on Garcia and mocked his dance before catching Garcia in an armbar. That forced Garcia to use his first rope break.
Garcia dropped Geiger over the ropes with a hotshot to regain control. Garcia locked on a front facelock, spun Geiger around, then dropped into a guillotine submission. Geiger got back to his feet and pulled Garcia over into a suplex.
A strike exchange ended with Geiger getting the upper hand, hitting a suplex for a nearfall. Geiger went for a submission, but Garcia peppered him with strikes before laying him out with a lariat. Garcia locked Geiger into a Boston Crab, but Geiger reversed it into a triangle choke. Garcia escaped and locked on the Dragon Tamer sharpshooter – to massive boos in Calgary – to get the win.
After the match, Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata came to the ring to face off with his challenger for tomorrow night.
Utami Hayashishita defeated Trish Adora
This started slowly, but it built up well and the crowd got behind it. Hayashishita looked good, and Adora hung in there with her acclaimed opponent.
No entrance for Hayashishita, as the former World of Stardom Champion makes her ROH debut here. Adora held onto Hayashishita’s arm early on, sneaking in a La Magistral cradle for a nearfall. Adora twisted Hayashishita in a submission hold, but she escaped and hit a sliding lariat for a nearfall. Hayashishita struggled with a bodyslam attempt due to the arm work but got it for a nearfall.
Adora landed body shots, but Hayashishita scored with forearms to the face that knocked Adora down. They traded waist locks until Adora snatched the arm and hit an overhead kick to it. Adora went for the Lariat Tubman, but Hayashishita ducked and hit a set of German Suplexes for a nearfall. Hayashishita went for an Air Raid Crash, but Adora locked on a wrist lock that forced Hayashishita to the ropes.
Adora fired up, landing a pump kick and a senton for a nearfall. Adora hit the kneeling German suplex for a nearfall. Hayashishita followed Adora off the ropes and hit a lariat. Hayashishita hit a twisting Torture Rack bomb for a nearfall, then hit a spinning Razor’s Edge to score the win.
ROH World Television Title Eliminator Tournament Final Match – Shane Taylor defeated Dalton Castle
Castle’s feats of strength energized the crowd, peaking with the impressive Bangarang on Taylor. To his credit, Taylor worked very well here too. Hopefully, he can play a more meaningful role on ROH television moving forward.
Castle tried to get Taylor with a single-leg takedown, but Taylor kept warding him off. Castle caught Taylor with a flurry that ended with a DDT that sent Taylor to the floor. Taylor caught Castle by the feet and dropped him to the floor with the Tower of London. Castle got back in the ring but quickly got taken down with a sidewalk slam for a nearfall.
Taylor worked on Castle’s back before dropping him with a headbutt. Taylor followed up with a pull-up uranage and a big splash for a nearfall. Taylor locked in a sleeper hold, but Castle escaped it with a roll-up attempt before low-bridging Taylor to the floor. Castle caught Taylor with a hurricanrana on the floor. Castle avoided a corner charge and fought back with strikes, but Taylor caught Castle with a body shot that took him down.
Castle caught Taylor with an overhead suplex that surprised the crowd. Castle hit a bulldog for a nearfall. Taylor used a rope break to land a cheap shot punch, but Taylor came back with a stalling German suplex. Castle then got Taylor up for a massive Bangarang to score the win and the TV Title shot against Samoa Joe.
Pure Rules Match –Josh Woods (w/The Varsity Athletes) defeated James Stone
The judges for this match were a fresh Dalton Castle, Christopher Daniels, and Jerry Lynn.
Woods controlled the early portion of this match, forcing Stone to use his first rope break early on. Woods locked on the Gorilla Lock to force Stone to use his second rope break within the first two minutes. Woods hit a knee then landed an ugly Anarchist Suplex for the win. Hopefully Stone is okay, he landed high on his neck.
In a video from last week, Tony Khan announced the Women’s Title match for Death Before Dishonor. It will be Athena defending the title against Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner Willow Nightingale, who beat her on last week’s Rampage. Nightingale noted that she’s got experience with big title matches at this point and that she’s going to win this title as well.
In a video from earlier today, Athena complained to the Board of Directors, but Tony Khan made it clear that the title match was on.
ROH Women’s World Title Proving Ground Match – Athena defeated Nikita
Athena came out in her street clothes, with Coleman noting that she was wearing the same clothes at the airport. Athena was upset in the corner and sat in the corner as the bell rang. Nikita piefaced her to get the match started. The match then ended with Athena hitting a knockout forearm for the win.
Athena then beat down Nikita after the match, booting her across the ring and sending her into the barricades. Willow Nightingale came out to face off with her.
The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) (w/Stu Grayson) defeated The Boys (Brandon & Brent)
Dutch blindsided the Boys to start the match. Vincent and Dutch double-teamed Brandon until slipping out to make a tag to Brent. Brent tried to knock down Dutch, but Dutch hit a body block to cut him off. Vincent tagged in, hitting the Autumn Sunshine for the win. Vincent talked to the camera to send a message to the Dark Order, but Evil Uno came out with a chair. Grayson was fired up, hitting a backbreaker on Brent as Uno watched on.
Leyla Hirsch defeated Nicole Matthews
Hirsch and Matthews worked on each other on the mat. Matthews got the upper hand, with Hirsch quickly forcing her into the corner to cut her off. Hirsch took Matthews down before hitting elbows to the back of the neck. Matthews hit a neckbreaker and fired up with forearms, but Hirsch brought Matthews down and hit a knee strike for the win.

The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) (w/Maria Kanellis-Bennett) defeated The Bollywood Boyz (Gurv Sihra & Harv Sihra), The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake), & Action Andretti & Darius Martin
Drake and Bennett started with a chop exchange. Bennett went low with a dropkick, leading to a tag exchange that ended with Andretti and Martin running wild on the Workhorsemen. Drake and Henry hit an assisted powerbomb on Martin for a nearfall before isolating Martin. Bennett tagged in, leading to a tag team flurry from the Kingdom on Martin. Taven hit Just The Tip on Martin for a nearfall that Drake broke up.
Martin hit a tornado DDT/death drop combo to escape the Kingdom, but Henry hit a high kick on Martin to cut him off. Henry locked Martin in the corner, hitting a combo that scored a nearfall that Taven broke up. The Kingdom and the Workhorsemen fought each other, with Andretti hitting a dive on both teams.
Martin tagged in Gurv Sihra, who ran wild on Bennett. The Bollywood Boys ran wild, landing superkicks on everyone. They hit the Demolition Decapitation on Bennett for a nearfall that Andretti broke up with a Shooting Star Press. The match devolved into a Pier Eight Brawl, ending with the Kingdom hitting the Proton Pack to score the win.

The 24-year-old will take on Trish Adora. Hayashishita has held the World of Stardom title, the Goddesses of Stardom title, Artist of Stardom title and the Future of Stardom title in her five years there.

As Jericho was denigrating the brand on Rampage, Castle came out and called out Jericho, saying he broke his back to get the title and he would break Jericho’s back to get it back.
Castle held the ROH title from December 2017 through June 2018. He’s also a former ROH TV Champion and is currently in his second stint holding the ROH Six-Man titles with The Boys.

Dalton Castle and The Boys are the new ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
Castle and The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) defeated The Righteous (Vincent, Dutch, and Bateman) to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Vincent hitting a tope on Castle, but Castle hit a rebound hurricanrana on Vincent, a German suplex on Dutch, then pinned Bateman with the bangarang to win the titles.
Vincent, Dutch, and Bateman won the titles back at Final Battle on December 11 of last year, defeating Shane Taylor Promotions (Taylor, Moses, and Kaun). They had held the titles for 224 days. The titles had not been defended since, as they were not featured at ROH Supercard of Honor or on AEW shows after Tony Khan purchased the company.
Vincent has worked dates with Impact Wrestling since the previous version of Ring of Honor shut down following Final Battle. Bateman has worked dates with New Japan Strong, forming the Stray Dog Army faction with Barrett Brown and Misterioso.
