Dustin Rhodes & The Von Erichs win ROH Six-Man titles at AEW Battle of the Belts XI

New ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions were crowned Saturday.

Dustin Rhodes and Ross & Marshall Von Erich defeated Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett of the Undisputed Kingdom to become the new ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions at Saturday’s Battle of the Belts XI. The finish had Taven and Strong pulling chairs from under the ring, which led to Katsuyori Shibata coming out to put Taven in the Iron Claw. Kevin Von Erich, sitting at ringside, then put Strong in the Iron Claw. That allowed Rhodes & The Von Erichs to isolate Bennett, with Rhodes hitting the Final Reckoning for the win.

The post-match had Shibata and Kevin Von Erich celebrating with the new champions in the ring as the locker room came down to celebrate.

The titles had previously been held by Jay White & The Gunns, who also held the AEW Trios titles. They were stripped of both titles by Christopher Daniels two weeks ago on Collision due to an injury to White. When Juice Robinson & The Gunns lost to The Patriarchy last week, only the AEW Trios titles were on the line.

Rhodes & The Von Erichs earned the title match at Friday’s Death Before Dishonor event, defeating The Dark Order.

Dalton Castle & The Boys win ROH Six-Man Tag titles at Death Before Dishonor

Dalton Castle and The Boys are the new ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions.

Castle and The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) defeated The Righteous (Vincent, Dutch, and Bateman) to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Vincent hitting a tope on Castle, but Castle hit a rebound hurricanrana on Vincent, a German suplex on Dutch, then pinned Bateman with the bangarang to win the titles.

Vincent, Dutch, and Bateman won the titles back at Final Battle on December 11 of last year, defeating Shane Taylor Promotions (Taylor, Moses, and Kaun). They had held the titles for 224 days. The titles had not been defended since, as they were not featured at ROH Supercard of Honor or on AEW shows after Tony Khan purchased the company.

Vincent has worked dates with Impact Wrestling since the previous version of Ring of Honor shut down following Final Battle. Bateman has worked dates with New Japan Strong, forming the Stray Dog Army faction with Barrett Brown and Misterioso.

New Six-Man Tag Team Champions were crowned on the latest episode of Ring of Honor television.

In the main event of the ROH TV episode that premiered this past weekend, Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor & The Soldiers of Savagery) defeated MexiSquad (Bandido, Flamita & Rey Horus) to win the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles. Taylor pinned Flamita to get the win after hitting his Welcome to The Land sit-out piledriver.

The Six-Man Tag Team title match was originally supposed to take place at December’s Final Battle pay-per-view, but Bandido and Flamita were pulled from the PPV due to pre-travel COVID-19 testing. Taylor & The Soldiers of Savagery (Moses & Kaun) were interviewed at Final Battle and declined to win the Six-Man Tag Team titles via forfeit. Taylor said they wanted to win the titles the right way.

Taylor instead defeated Jay Briscoe in a singles match at Final Battle. Shane Taylor Promotions also defeated The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams) on ROH TV last month.

Prior to losing the titles to Shane Taylor Promotions, MexiSquad had been ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions since January 2020.

The episode of ROH TV that premieres this coming weekend will be headlined by Taylor challenging for Rush’s ROH World Championship. Lethal & Gresham will also defend their ROH Tag Team titles against La Faccion Ingobernable’s Dragon Lee & Kenny King in a Pure Rules match on the episode.
