Roderick Strong, Nick Wayne singles matches set for AEW Collision

Two new bouts have been announced for tonight’s AEW Collision from Oakland, California.

AEW’s Darius Martin out six to nine months after ‘nasty car accident’

Darius Martin’s recent injury is said to be the result of a “nasty car accident.”

It was reported last month that the 22-year-old had suffered an injury that was expected to keep him out of action for a significant period of time. Malakai Black has since revealed on the Universal Wrestling Podcast that Martin was injured in a car accident.

“He had a really nasty car accident. He’s out for, like, six to nine months,” Black said on the show.

This is the second time in 14 months Martin has been sidelined for an extended period. He suffered a torn ACL in February of 2021 and wouldn’t return until the March 2, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Martin’s last match before his injury was on the April 15 show from Garland, Texas. He wrestled in a 10-man tag along with his brother Dante, the Hardys and Frankie Kazarian. They defeated the team of Private Party, The Blade, Angelico, and Max Caster in a match taped for Dark.

AEW’s Darius Martin out with leg injury, expected to miss significant time

Darius Martin is expected to be out of action for a “lengthy period” due to injury.

According to a report from Fightful Select, the 22-year-old sustained a leg injury fairly recently. Although the nature of the injury is not currently known, he’s expected to miss a significant amount of time.

This is the second time in 14 months he will have been sidelined for an extended period. In February of 2021, he suffered a torn ACL that required surgery. He wouldn’t return until the March 2, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite.

His last match was on the 4/15 AEW show from Garland, Texas. He teamed with his brother, the Hardys, and Frankie Kazarian on the show. They defeated the team of Private Party, The Blade, Angelico, and Max Caster in a match taped for Dark.

His brother Dante teamed with Brock Anderson and Lee Moriarty on Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite and lost to the Blackpool Combat Club team of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta.

AEW’s Darius Martin undergoes ACL surgery

Darius Martin of AEW’s Top Flight tag team has undergone ACL surgery. Martin posted the news on his Twitter account.

Martin tweeted:

“Had ACL surgery this morning….

First time having surgery and this anesthesia has been hitting my body like a MFer all day.

Nonetheless, the road to recovery begins. It’ll be long but when I’m back, expect me to be performing at a level you’ve NEVER seen before.” -@officialarwolf

Darius has been out of action since before the Revolution PPV on March 7. Darius and brother Dante had been scheduled to take place in the Casino Tag Team Royale on that show, but were a late scratch due to a reported knee injury. Further details on the nature of the presumed ACL tear were not released.

Darius Martin and Dante Martin made their AEW debut on Dark in October 2020. They made their Dynamite debut on the November 18, 2020 episode, losing to The Young Bucks. AEW announced that they had officially signed the duo on November 23, 2020. Top Flight is a perfect 4-0 in tag team action in AEW in 2021.

Since Darius has been out of action, Dante has remained active in singles competition and in six-man and eight-man tag matches on AEW shows.
