Chelsea Green on WWE return: I texted Triple H ‘I want my job back’

Chelsea Green has commented on how her WWE return came together and whether or not she really is a “Karen.”

Green returned to the company nearly two years after having been one of several wrestlers released on April 15, 2021. During a recent appearance on Out of Character, she said her WWE return came together when she texted Paul “Triple H” Levesque to let him know she wanted her job back.

Green said:

I texted him ‘I want my job back.’ And he said, ‘Okay, call me.’ And I was shocked. I want to go back to WWE, my story is not finished.

On that phone call, he said, ‘I would absolutely love to have you back and you just tell me when is a good time for you to start.’

Green’s return took place in the 2023 women’s Royal Rumble match. She only lasted five seconds before being eliminated.

Green described her return:

I loved it. I was waiting to find out when my surprise return would be for months. So, for me the Royal Rumble, it was perfect. And just the way the entire day came together and those five seconds will live on forever.

She also explained how she found out she would be portraying a “Karen” gimmick earlier that day:

It was not an idea I had and let me tell you something, I’m not shy, I will pitch 101 things and the internet makes fun of me for it and I don’t care. My favorite thing to do is to come up with pitches that are so ridiculous and out there but Karen was not my idea.

I’ve definitely come up with versions of this Karen but no, I actually went to the Royal Rumble and was at the Royal Rumble and I believe it was at about 1 p.m. that I saw on the internet that Chelsea is going to debut with a Karen character. And I went up to someone, I was like what is this? I’m coming out tonight for the Royal Rumble and I’m me.

They came back maybe a couple hours later and they were like, ‘Yeah, we’ll deal with that, once the Rumble’s over we’ll sort out how your character’s going to be.’ And then I was kind of like, ‘Well, I want to start it tonight.’ If I don’t win this thing, when I get out of the ring, I’m going to start being a Karen and so I just did it.

Earlier in the conversation, Green was adamant that she is not “a complainer” when she’s off-screen. She noted that she would never send food back in a restaurant and also worked in the service industry herself for many years. However, when the topic of leaving bad YELP reviews came up, there was a pause before she responded.

If I’m going to leave a bad review on YELP, it’s probably not going to be a Mom & Pop shop or a small business owner or something like that. It’s probably going to be a chain and someone who actually needs to see it.

And I will say, that in the past couple of years, I remember one bad review that I left and that was for my LA Fitness, and they need to know what they’re doing wrong, okay? My one YELP review isn’t going to shut them down but it might help the rest of the customers because we’re all talking about it.

She would continue to say that her issue with the LA Fitness location is that there are fundraisers stationed inside asking for donations.

I just feel like at the gym, most people don’t walk in with their wallets waiting to give money to someone.

So, I left a YELP review saying they should do it two stores down at Walmart. I expect it from Walmart. When I walk into Walmart, there’s a chance that I’m going to be donating money to somebody or to a cause or something, I know that.

WWE’s Chelsea Green hospitalized with stomach bug, distended gallbladder

WWE’s Chelsea Green tweeted a photo from a hospital on Thursday, announcing she had been hospitalized after suffering a severe stomach bug and distended gallbladder.

Four days after making her WrestleMania debut in a tag team match on night two of WrestleMania 39, and two days after celebrating her birthday, Green revealed that she had been hospitalized.

Green tweeted:

I thought I celebrated my first Mania too hard … turns out I actually had a severe stomach bug & a distended gall bladder. (Thank god the manager of the ER took care of me. Will NOT be filing any complaints this weekend.)

After a run on the indie scene, with Impact Wrestling, and a stint with Lucha Underground, Green was signed to WWE in 2018 and debuted on the NXT brand. She suffered a broken wrist in her first televised NXT match.

After returning from injury, Green continued on the NXT brand, but also made a handful of one-off appearances on WWE’s main roster. She was officially called up to the SmackDown brand in November 2020, but suffered another broken wrist in her debut match.

Green was released by WWE in April 2021, and spent 2021 and 2022 wrestling for Impact and Ring of Honor.

Green returned to WWE in January 2023, making her re-debut in the Royal Rumble match, where she was eliminated in five seconds. Since then, she has primarily been featured on the Raw brand, employing a gimmick where she “demands to speak to the manager” as a comic foil for on-screen authority figure Adam Pearce.

Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville qualify for WWE WrestleMania 39 Showcase match

The final team has been added to the four-way women’s tag team Showcase match at WrestleMania 39.

Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green were the final team added after they won a qualifying match, defeating Michin and Candace LeRae. The two joined forces earlier in the show, when Adam Pearce suggested the two team up. The duo will meet Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, Natalya & Shotzi, and Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan this weekend at WrestleMania.

In recent weeks, Chelsea Green has been looking for a tag team partner. At first she teamed with Carmella, but last week Carmella vanished from television. Green last week instead teamed with Piper Niven, however Pearce told Green this week that Niven wanted nothing to do with her.

Nia Jax, Chelsea Green return at WWE Royal Rumble

Nia Jax and Chelsea Green returned to WWE at Saturday’s Royal  Rumble event.

Jax and Green were both surprise entrants in the women’s Royal Rumble match at the show. Jax was released by WWE in October 2021, while Green was released from the company in April 2021.

WWE has not officially announced that either has signed, but the company has produced new merchandise for Jax, and Green has been expected to be WWE-bound for some time, with reports first surfacing in October that she was expected to return to the company.

After quickly being eliminated from the Rumble, Green debuted a new character in a promo on WWE’s social media channels:

Jax entered the women’s Rumble as the 30th entrant, while Green entered 20th. Green was eliminated from the contest by eventual winner Rhea Ripley, while a group of competitors teamed up to eliminate Jax.

Other surprise entrants in the women’s Rumble included Natalya and Asuka returning from hiatus. Asuka last wrestled on the December 12, 2022 Raw, while Natalya had been out of action after undergoing nasal surgery in November 2022.

Piper Niven also returned to action in the women’s Rumble, dropping the “Doudrop” gimmick and returning to her NXT ring name. She had been out of the ring since September following a health scare. Niven entered 18th, and was eliminated 25th by Raquel Rodriguez.

Michelle McCool was another surprise in the women’s Rumble, entering 25th. She was also eliminated by Ripley.

Beth Phoenix made an appearance on the show in an angle during the men’s Rumble match, attacking Ripley with a spear after The Judgment Day conspired to eliminate the returning Edge from the contest. Edge returned to the ring in the men’s Rumble, his first bout since dropping an I Quit match to Finn Balor at Extreme Rules in October 2022.

Logan Paul also returned to the company in the men’s Rumble, his first match since Crown Jewel in November 2022. Paul entered the Rumble at number 29, and was the next-to-last elimination, thrown out by eventual winner Cody Rhodes.

Booker T was the only unexpected entrant in the men’s Rumble match, appearing in his first WWE bout in more than a decade. Booker was the 14th entrant in the men’s Rumble, and was eliminated by Gunther.

WWE talking with E! about new reality show involving real-life wrestling couples

WWE is in talks with E! about a new reality show, according to Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer said “they are looking for legitimate wrestling couples, so some upcoming signings could relate to that if the project is finalized.”

He then noted that Matt Cardona’s name was mentioned as possible because of Chelsea Green’s impending return to WWE. Cardona, the former Zack Ryder in WWE, was released in April 2020 and completely reinvented himself when he started working the indies.

Cardona has appeared for AEW, Impact, NWA, GCW and other indies throughout the past two years and is set to challenge for the NWA World title at the company’s unannounced next pay-per-view.

WWE and E! have worked together on several successful reality shows in the past, led by Total Divas when ran for more than six years from July 2013 to December 2019. That led to the Total Bellas spinoff which ran from October 2016 through January 2021.

In November, WWE announced they are working on a Bianca Belair/Montez Ford show for Hulu.

JONAH offered WWE contract, Chelsea Green expected to return

Two former WWE wrestlers could be returning to the company.

Our own Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Chelsea Green is expected to be back with the company and JONAH has been offered a contract to return as well. Both wrestlers were released from WWE in 2021.

“WWE bound, most likely,” Meltzer said about Green. “Within the company, it’s been talked about as something that is happening. I don’t know if she’s put pen to paper but she did just finish up with Impact, so it makes sense. Presumably, she’s in but like I said, I can’t confirm the contract signing but I can confirm that they are talking about it as if it is a done deal within the company.”

Meltzer also confirmed that WWE has offered JONAH a contract to return.

“JONAH certainly has an offer from WWE and he’s got to make a decision, he’ll either be New Japan or WWE. He got a great push in New Japan, and it’s going to be his call,” Meltzer said.

JONAH wrestled as Bronson Reed in WWE from 2019 until his release in August 2021. Following his departure, he performed with Impact Wrestling and NJPW. He took part in the G1 Climax 32 this summer where he finished with eight points.

Green made her WWE SmackDown debut on November 13, 2020. She broke her wrist in a four-way match she was originally scheduled to win. The finish was changed due to Green’s injury and Liv Morgan ended up getting the victory. Green was then released on April 15, 2021. Since her departure, she has wrestled with the NWA, ROH, and Impact Wrestling.

WWE notes: Bray Wyatt merchandise sales, Sasha Banks, Chelsea Green

Dave Meltzer shared some WWE news and notes in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Bray Wyatt tops WWE merchandise sellers

Meltzer is reporting that Bray Wyatt has surpassed the Bloodline as the top merchandise seller in WWE. He also noted the success of the QR code/White Rabbit videos will lead to similar teases in the future. Meltzer noted that such tactics will be “used more often as a facet of storylines and mystery.”

There has also been talk of a potential program involving Roman Reigns and Wyatt in the future, considering how hot Wyatt is at the moment.

Sasha Banks still under WWE contract

Sasha Banks is still under contract to WWE. Meltzer wrote, “She is still under contract to WWE but there is no word on when she’ll return as there were said to be hang-ups in negotiations for a new deal.”

Banks was in Spain recently for the World CBD Awards show. She owns a new CBD brand with Kalisto/Samuray del Sol named Premier Kanndela Labs. They won the award for Best Industry Newcomer.

Sheamus getting married

The Bloodline recently attacked Sheamus, injuring his arm and seemingly writing him off of television for a while. This was likely done as a way to explain Sheamus’ absence from television as he takes time off to get married. His fiance, Isabella Revilla, has been posting to Instagram about the upcoming wedding.

Chelsea Green is possibly WWE-bound

According to PW Insider, Chelsea Green is done with Impact Wrestling. She filmed an “exit vignette” at the last set of tapings and many are under the impression she is headed back to WWE.

Green signed with WWE in 2018 and wrestled a couple of matches on the main roster in late 2019 and early 2020, including the 2020 Royal Rumble. She broke her wrist during a match on the November 13, 2020 edition of SmackDown and was eventually released on April 15, 2021.

Chelsea Green added to NWA World Women’s title match at Hard Times 3

Chelsea Green has been added to the upcoming NWA Women’s Championship match at Hard Times 3.

The NWA announced Saturday afternoon that Kamille will now be defending the championship against KiLynn King and Green in a three-way match on November 12 in New Orleans. Green defeated Angelina Love on the October 18 edition of NWA Power to earn a future title match.

King originally became the number one contender by defeating Taya Valkyrie on the October 10 edition of Power.

Kamille’s last championship defense took place on the September 6 edition of Power, where she successfully retained against Allysin Kay.

Here is the updated lineup for NWA Hard Times 3:

  • Mercurio, Magic Jake Dumas, and Jax Dane vs. Anthony Mayweather, JTG, and The Pope
  • Hawx Aerie vs. TBA

Nick Gage attacks Matt Cardona at GCW Homecoming Part Two

Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green’s wedding vow renewal ceremony did not go as planned.

The segment headlined GCW Homecoming Part Two from Atlantic City on Sunday.  Former Tough Enough winner, Maven, officiated the ceremony and insulted the fans for making hurtful comments online about the Cardonas.

Cardona’s parents were in attendance for the ceremony. Green had a special surprise for Cardona as well and brought out Maki Itoh to sing for them.

At one point, Cardona said that he put GCW on the map when he defeated Nick Gage for the title. Gage would then hit the ring along with Dewey Donovan shortly after the ceremony ended. Gage first attacked Cardona’s father with light tubes and then turned his attention to Cardona.

Green went to confront Gage but was attacked by Allie Katch, who hit her with the wedding cake and then gave her a piledriver. Gage then took a pizza cutter to Cardona’s forehead and got on the microphone to say it’s “MDK all f***ing day” to end the show.

Earlier on the card, Maki Itoh made her debut for the promotion. She defeated Dark Sheik in singles competition. Itoh had lost to Billie Starkz at JCW After Hours Two the night before.

The GCW fans continue to boo Blake Christian after it was revealed he signed an AEW/ROH deal and will not be around as much. After his team with Jordan Oliver and Nick Wayne was defeated by the Second Gear Crew, Christian got up in his teammates’ faces as the crowd continued to turn on him.

Charles Mason attempted to interfere in the BUSSY vs. Charli Evans & Everett Connors match. All four official participants in the match ended up piling on him for the pin, however, despite him not actually being in the match.

One night after winning the GCW Ultraviolent Championship from Alex Colon, Rina Yamashita would successfully defend it against the 6ft 2 Sawyer Wreck.

The promotion also appears to be building to a big tag team title match on September 3 in Chicago. The Briscoes defeated Los Macizos for the titles on Saturday and were then challenged by the Second Gear Crew for a future title match. After John Wayne Murdoch and Alex Colon defeated Los Macizos on Sunday, they said they want a crack at the titles too. BUSSY hit the ring after the match and also said they want a shot at the tag titles in Chicago. So, it appears multiple teams are looking to face the Briscoes for the belts that night.

GCW will be back with shows next weekend from Concord, North Carolina on Friday and Atlanta on Saturday.

The full results from GCW Homecoming Part Two are as follows:

  • GCW Extreme Champion Cole Radrick defeated Alec Price, Gringo Loco, Axton Ray, Jimmy Lloyd, & Masha Slamovich to retain the title
  • Maki Itoh defeated Dark Sheik
  • Ninja Mack defeated Kevin Blackwood
  • The Second Gear Crew (Mance Warner, Matthew Justice & 1 Called Manders) defeated Blake Christian, Jordan Oliver, & Nick Wayne
  • Mike Bailey defeated Starboy Charlie
  • BUSSY (Allie Katch & Effy) vs. Charli Evans & Everett Connors went to a no-contest
  • GCW Ultraviolent Champion Rina Yamashita defeated Sawyer Wreck to retain the title.
  • The Mega Bastards (John Wayne Murdoch & Alex Colon) defeated Los Macizos (Ciclope & Miedo Extremo) in a tag team deathmatch

Maven to officiate The Cardonas’ vow renewal at GCW Homecoming

Maven has been announced for GCW Homecoming.

The promotion revealed on Thursday that the 45-year-old will officiate Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green’s wedding vow renewal ceremony on night two of the two-night event.

In June, Cardona announced that he and Chelsea Green would still be part of the show despite a torn biceps he suffered at GCW Downard Spiral on May 28.

Cardona tweeted: “I was injured at a @GCWrestling_ show. @Lauderdale11 didn’t offer to pay for my surgery/rehab. He then wanted to unbook me from Homecoming…the show that I MADE FAMOUS! In lieu of suing GCW, we agreed that @ImChelseaGreen & I WILL be booked & inviting you all to our vow renewal!”

GCW Homecoming will take place August 13 & 14 from the Carousel Room At the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Both nights will be available on pay-per-view via FITE TV. The updated lineup for the shows is as follows:

Purrazzo & Green to face James & Yim at Impact Against All Odds

A tag team match is the latest addition to Impact Wrestling’s Against All Odds special.

Deonna Purrazzo & Chelsea Green will team up as they face Mickie James & Mia Yim at Against All Odds this Friday night. The match was announced after a challenge that was issued by Purrazzo & Green.

https://twitter.com/IMPACTWRESTLING/status/1541466395229028353

Purrazzo & Green claimed that James & Yim were the reason they weren’t able to win the Queen of the Mountain match at Slammiversary. Jordynne Grace won the match to become the new Impact Knockouts Champion.

James was the special guest enforcer for the Queen of the Mountain match. There was a spot during the match where Yim knocked over a ladder that Purrazzo & Green were on, sending them crashing through two tables on the outside.

Against All Odds is taking place in Atlanta this Friday night and will air live on Impact Plus/Impact’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service. The updated lineup for the show is listed below:

  • Impact World Champion Josh Alexander defends against Joe Doering
  • Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defends against Tasha Steelz

Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green to ‘renew their wedding vows’ at GCW Homecoming

Though he’s currently out of action after undergoing biceps surgery, Matt Cardona will still be playing a part in Game Changer Wrestling’s Homecoming weekend.

GCW has announced that The Cardonas (Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green) will “renew their wedding vows” at Homecoming day two on Sunday, August 14. The couple got married on December 31 of 2021.

Cardona suffered a torn biceps while facing Blake Christian for GCW on May 28. He underwent surgery for the injury on June 7.

The torn biceps resulted in Cardona having to relinquish the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Trevor Murdoch then won the vacant title.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this month, Cardona said he’s been told that he’ll be out of action for five months — but his goal is to return to the ring this September.

Cardona told Sports Illustrated that he’ll still be making the majority of his scheduled bookings despite being injured.

“I’m still going to be making towns. I’ve contacted every promotion I had booked, and all but two are still bringing me in because they know I sell tickets — and I rescheduled with those other two,” Cardona said.

“I’m not going to be stuck at home injured. I won’t be in the ring, but this isn’t a three-month vacation. I’m just as busy as I was, even with a torn bicep.”

GCW’s Homecoming weekend is taking place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on August 13 and August 14. Both shows will air live on Fite TV.

GCW has also announced that Maki Itoh will be making her debut for the promotion at Homecoming weekend.

Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green vs. Nick Aldis & Mickie James set for Impact Multiverse of Matches

Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green will face the team of Nick Aldis and Mickie James over WrestleMania weekend.

Impact Wrestling announced Friday that the match will take place on April 1st at Impact Multiverse of Matches. The show is part of WrestleCon 2022 and will air live beginning at 10 PM Eastern on FITE TV.

On Thursday’s Impact Wrestling on AXS, Green turned on James as she was facing Tasha Steelz for the Knockouts Championship in a street fight. Green faked as though she was coming to James’ rescue as she was being beaten down by Steelz and Savannah Evans, but she simply sat down in the chair she had with her and let them continue their two-on-one attack.

After the match, Cardona delivered a Radio Silence to James just before the show went off air.

The angle is also being playing out in the NWA. At last weekend’s Crockett Cup, Cardona retained the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Aldis. Guest referee Jeff Jarrett disqualified Aldis after falsely believing James had given him a low blow when it had actually Green who delivered the shot.

The updated lineup for Impact Multiverse of Matches is below:

  • The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) vs. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe)
  • Ultimate X match: X-Division Champion Trey Miguel defends against Chris Bey, Vincent, Rich Swann, Willie Mack, and Jordynne Grace
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Tomohiro Ishii
  • Jay White vs. Chris Sabin
  • Josh Alexander & Jonah vs. Moose & PCO
  • “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. Alex Shelley
  • Deonna Purrazzo Champ Champ Open Challenge
  • Mickie James & Nick Aldis vs. Chelsea Green & Matt Cardona
