WWE Main Event results: Legado Del Fantasma vs. The Creed Brothers

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri before Monday’s episode of Raw.

Katana Chance & Kayden Carter defeated Chelsea Green & Piper Niven (5:14)

This was fine, but a tepid crowd throughout made for a tag match that ended up being pretty much what you would expect.

Green and Niven double-teamed Carter in the early going, as they cut the ring in half, talked trash, and got their shots in.

Niven missed a cannonball to the corner so that Chance could get a hot tag and then the match got pretty good.

They went back and forth with both teams having to break up pins, first Niven and then Chance. When Carter ducked, Niven caught Green with a running clothesline and so Carter followed it up with a superkick.

Chance and Carter then combined to hit the After Party on Green who is now joining the SmackDown touring roster and so you would think won’t be doing too many Main Event shows for a while now.

The Creed Brothers defeated Legardo Del Fantasma (5:57)

You would be forgiven for expecting a little more out of a tag match between these four, but the Creeds were entertaining once again. Surely it is only a matter of time before they get some main roster television work.

You have to go back a long time to find episodes of Main Event with Carrillo and Garza in action together. It was November 2021 when they were last working on the Raw crew and the pair had a run of excellent performances on the show.

Much like their bouts over previous weeks, the match was built around a hot tag after the break. The Creeds took the early going until the heels used a blind tag so that Garza could nail Julius with a high knee to clear the ring and send us to the ads.

After Julius was briefly in peril, hung in the tree of woe, they got the hot tag to Brutus. This is what most of their matches are like on this show, sort of exhibition pieces that get the pre-Raw crowd pepped up for the main show.

We had suplexes galore, including a Northern Lights, and then two Brutus Bombs got it done – one to Garza outside and the one to defeat Carillo on the mat.

Fun while it lasted, but I had hoped for something a little more spicy.

Women’s title match booked for next week’s WWE NXT

Chelsea Green will challenge Roxanne Perez for the Women’s Championship on next week’s WWE NXT.

After being drafted to SmackDown with tag partner Piper Niven in the 2024 WWE Draft, Green made an unannounced return to NXT TV on Tuesday’s episode to challenge Perez for the Women’s title on next week’s show.

In a digital exclusive, Green was reunited with former manager Mr. Stone:

After returning from injury on this week’s episode, Wes Lee is also set for his in-ring return on next week’s NXT TV, taking on Josh Briggs in singles competition.

New NXT Champion Trick Williams will appear on Supernova Session with Meta-Four on next week’s episode as well, following up on a cliffhanger from this week’s show where Lash Legend promised to rock Trick’s world with the mystery contents of an envelope.

A combine to decide which 12 competitors will participate in qualifying matches for the ladder match to crown the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion is also set for next week’s show.

The announced lineup for the Tuesday, May 7 WWE NXT:

  • NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defends against Chelsea Green
  • Wes Lee vs. Josh Briggs
  • Meta-Four hosts Supernova Sessions with NXT Champion Trick Williams
  • Combine to decide qualifying matches for the NXT Women’s North American Championship ladder match

WWE Main Event results: Jinder Mahal vs. Akira Tozawa

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped before last Monday’s Raw in Brooklyn, New York, featuring the usual pair of bouts.

Blake Howard and Brian “Road Dogg” James were on the call with less than great results. Howard didn’t do anything to enhance the action and James was not good, often interrupting Howard.

It’s the case of a good talker being expected to also be good on commentary. However, as Liam Neeson knows, it takes a man/woman with a unique set of skills to do both.

Chelsea Green defeated Natalya

This was a rematch from several weeks ago when Green picked up a win on this very show, and their fourth-ever singles match. Green had an interesting week overall after claiming she was kicked out of a Brooklyn hotel due to staff thinking she was an escort.

The two brawled all the way up the entranceway at one point with Natalya battering Green’s head into any inanimate object that existed. After she regained the advantage, Green used a referee distraction to surprise Natalya with a a Zig-Zag and nearfall.

Natalya rallied with some clotheslines and went for the Sharpshooter, only to get countered. A nearfall exchange followed and Green eventually got the rollup pin with a handful of tights.

This is Green’s third straight singles win and her fifth straight on Main Event.

Jinder Mahal (w/ Veer) defeated Akira Tozawa (w/ Otis)

It’s wild that Mahal was part of this whole kickoff for The Rock returning and main eventing night one of WrestleMania 40 — something to remember for your wrestling trivia nights. This was his first match anywhere in nearly two months.

These two have wrestled twice before: both in 2020, once on Raw and once on Main Event. Mahal is 2-0 in those matches as you might imagine.

As you might expect, the size difference between these two was played up early with Mahal dominating with exciting rest holds and such.

After getting beat up most of the match, Tozawa made his comeback, nearly getting the win off a missile dropkick. After ripping his shirt Hulk Hogan-style, he went to the top again but missed a senton bomb and got nailed with a big boot. Mahal then got the win after hitting the Khallas (Million Dollar Dream lock into a slam).

It’s Mahal’s second straight win (both on Main Event) while Tozawa has been winless in TV/house show matches since February.

That concludes a heel-friendly edition of Main Event. We’re onto WrestleMania.

WWE Main Event results: Chelsea Green vs. Natalya

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas before Monday’s episode of Raw.

Akira Tozawa & Otis defeated Sanga & Veer (w/ Jinder Maha) (4:56)

This was exactly what you would expect: Tozawa played babyface in peril until Otis got the hot tag and made everyone happy. It was a fun, basic tag match to kick off the show.

Sanga and Veer haven’t appeared on Main Event since November and, while dominant here, notched up their first-ever loss on this show.

The early going was Indus Sher essentially just squashing Tozawa. This is what Tozawa does so well and he threw himself all over the ring, making them look unbeatable.

They cut the ring in half and did the dirty on Otis whenever they could, even attacking them before the bell. But it was all about Otis getting the hot tag and the crowd loved it when it came.

Otis hit clotheslines before Tozawa joined in and came off the top. The ring filled until Tozawa rolled through and Otis used a clothesline to take Sanga off his feet to get the pinfall.

Chelsea Green defeated Natalya (7:42)

This was good, but went longer than it needed to. It’s always fun seeing Natalya on Main Event.

Chelsea Green continues to be an excellent heel on this show and has become something of a regular of late. She clearly relishes the role and Natayla is such a natural babyface at this point that this was a good pairing at the top of the show.

They went back and forth until Natalya grabbed a two-count after a dropkick. Green didn’t like it one bit and rolled out of the ring to take a walk. Cheap heat, but done well here, and we went to the commercial break.

The second half of the match was slow to begin with, with rest holds, but once they started to trade near falls, the crowd was more engaged.

Natalya kept looking for the sharpshooter, but her best chance came after a powerbomb when it looked like she had won it.

When Green rolled outside for the second time, Natalya was foolish enough to follow and came back in to meet a stiff kick and stomp. Green seized the moment and quickly used the UnPrettyHer for the win.

WWE Main Event results: Creed Brothers vs. Gallus

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas before Monday’s episode of Raw.

For my money, when the Creed brothers are on this show, you can’t go too far wrong.

Chelsea Green defeated Candice LeRae w/Indi Hartwell (5:29)

Chelsea Green is a devilish heel and thriving in the role. They did a nice finish here where she thwarted the good guys and made off like a bandit.

Green was in full garnering heat mode from the get-go. She walked on LeRae’s back, frequently hollered at the crowd, as well as the announcers, and even got some shots in on Hartwell to boot.

They went back and forth early on, with Green feeding LeRae so that she could get some arm drags in and a top rope missile drop kick.

They both went down when LeRae hit a German suplex on Green, but it was LeRae who got up first to get the hope. The legs were cut off her comeback when Green got her knees up to block a moonsault off the middle rope.

Green used the ropes for leverage to get a roll up but Hartwell intervened. When Green ducked a clothesline, she used the opportunity to transition into a baseball slide to take out Hartwell.

This time, Green went back to the rope-assisted roll-up and grabbed the win, leaving both LeRae and Hartwell thoroughly cheated out of the win.

The Creed Brothers w/ Ivy Nile defeated Gallus (Wolfgang & Mark Coffey) w/Joe Coffey (6:58)

It was good to see Gallus get some main roster minutes, but the Creed Brothers – particularly Julius here – continue to impress in a big way. This was fun stuff all around.

Julius and Mark started the match off together and they did some mat work. The smoothness with which Julius works around the ring was really stark here. He is a pleasure to watch.

When Julius tagged in Brutus, they both stayed in together and hit stereo fallaway slams followed by standing moonsaults and kip-ups. The crowd loved this as the brothers congratulated each other.

Gallus regained the advantage before we went to a break.

After the commercials, the match was all built around getting Julius the hot tag. When it came, the crowd was ready and completely into it.

Julius exploded into the ring, hitting four suplexes on both Wolfgang and Mark with a kip up after each. He then used a double Northern Lights suplex on both men simultaneously. This guy is seriously impressive, it’s stunning watching him work.

Gallus mounted a brief comeback after Mark used a blind tag, but they sent Mark over the top rope to isolate Wolfgang and finished him off with a Brutus’ top rope cannonball, toppling him off Julius’ shoulders.

WWE Main Event results: Dante Chen vs. Akira Tozawa

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky before Monday’s episode of Raw.

An average show this week that had its moments, but Akira Tozawa is always entertaining.

Chelsea Green defeated Tegan Nox (5:01)

This was fine. Nox is certainly getting better but some of her ring work needs tightening up.

There was no Piper Niven or Natalya this week after their tag match on the show last week and so it lost something in its impact, but Green is clearly enjoying being a heel these days.

The early going was full of little comedy bits from Green until Nox came off the apron with a cannonball and went up top. Green kicked her off the turnbuckle and then stomped her before slapping on a chin lock.

Nox worked her way out and, after exchanging some quick pin attempts, she came back with clotheslines and a running splash to the corner, before again going up top.

In the end, Green took the opportunity to turn a high cross into an opportunity, rolling through and grabbing a handful of tights to get the win. The finish made sense, playing into Green’s heelish character.

Akira Tozawa (w/ Maxxine Dupri) defeated Dante Chen (6:30)

This was a good match, only to be spoiled a little by some chin locks midway through that felt a little unnecessary for a match designed to hype up the crowd before Raw.

Before the match, Dupri and Tozawa did a little jig together in the ring and Chen looked on and couldn’t help smirking at it.

I always find Tozawa pretty damn entertaining. On and off over the last few years he’s been a Main Event regular and always gives a good performance, more often than not taking the fall to put someone else over.

The latest iteration of Tozawa’s character has seen him Hulk up as he heads to the finish. He tears his shirt – sometimes not managing to do it all the way in half – and then runs wild.

Chen is a big dude, especially when put next to Tozawa, and he took the early going with Tozawa flipping all over for him.

After a series of chin locks from Chen, Tozawa used a headscissors and a suicide dive to the outside to get a near fall.

After a brief comeback, Tozawa finished Chen with his top rope senton back splash and celebrated with Dupri, because he doesn’t notch up too many wins. This was his second of 2024.

WWE Main Event results: Apollo Crews vs. Bronson Reed

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the Enterprise Center in St Louis, Missouri before Monday’s episode of Raw.

A good-to-fair episode this week with a fun tag bout to open and a battle of two giants to top off the show.

Tegan Nox & Natalya defeated Chelsea Green & Piper Niven (5:32)

This was an entertaining enough tag match to open the show and the crowd thought so too, but the ending felt a little confusing.

Niven and Green cut the ring in half, bullying Natalya in the corner. She gave as good as she got, but quick tags thwarted her attempts to tag in Nox.

Eventually, Nox got the hot tag and ran wild, knocking Niven off the apron and nailing Green with running European uppercuts, a cannon ball and a top rope cross body for two.

Natalya and Nox teamed up on Green, but Niven broke up the pin. Natalya then locked in the sharpshooter on Green but Niven grabbed her hand. When the referee broke the hold, Niven entered the ring and Natalya tried to put her in the submission hold too.

The finish was a bit messy here, but essentially Niven was sent packing and after a few moments, Green finally tapped to the sharpshooter.

It looked like they were expecting another distraction from Niven, but it didn’t happen so they just went home.

Bronson Reed defeated Apollo Crews (6:35)

This was a good hard-hitting match that gave Bronson Reed his third consecutive Main Event win of 2024.

The early going saw Crews take the advantage, leading to a standing moonsault off the apron to the outside. This meant that they took an early break for the ads.

After the commercials, Reed defaulted to some chin locks before using the ropes to nail Reed with a flapjack. He then got greedy and went for a senton but Crews rolled out of the way and they both stayed down.

Crews was up first and used two running clotheslines, an enzuigiri and a top rope high cross to finally get Reed off his feet. After battling, Crews then finally managed to hoist Reed up onto his shoulders, but Reed fought his way out.

Reed then seized the opportunity and knocked Crews down to leave him prone to receive the Tsunami.

The win for Reed made sense as the way they are booking him now makes him look like an absolute giant.

WWE Main Event results: Brutus Creed vs. Myles Borne

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana before Monday’s episode of Raw.

Given the news coming out of WWE this week, it remains to be seen what will happen to a show like Main Event, but it feels even more inconsequential than ever that this was a perfectly mediocre show this week.

Chelsea Green w/Piper Niven defeated Gigi Dolin (5:09)

This was fine, but nothing special. Niven interfered so that Green could get the win, but that’s pretty much what you would expect.

Dolin worked Main Event last month, getting a debut win against Elektra Lopez, but essentially played babyface in peril in this one until she was cheated out of a win.

Green was an excellent heel throughout, in a role that clearly suits her and that you can tell she enjoys. She was slow and methodical, asking the crowd at one stage here to ‘get your cameras ready for this one’.

Weirdly, Green and Dolin were wearing similar ring gear to the point where you’d think that they were a tag team that had just split.

Green used a chin lock and the crowd rallied behind Dolin who managed a roll-up for a two-count. They both collided and went down with Dolin getting up first and nailing Green with a German.

After a dropkick and another two-count, Dolin looked set to go home but Niven interfered, allowing Green to hit an UnPrettyHer for the win.

Brutus Creed w/Julius Creed defeated Myles Borne (6:58)

They got going after the commercials in this one and both worked hard, but it didn’t top the work that Julius Creed and Apollo Crews put in on the show last week.

Brutus Creed earned his first main roster singles win here against a returning Myles Borne in his third Main Event bout of his career. Borne looks good in flashes, but they are yet to give him a win on this show.

It was Borne who took the early going and they started slow, but built to a spot where Creed went up to the top rope. He was knocked to the outside with a slick dropkick from Borne as they went to an early break.

There was some back and forth after the ads, with Borne using some ground and pound and locked in the dreaded chin lock. The crowd did at least play along and cheered on Creed to break the hold.

Creed got some hope spots in with clotheslines and a Samoan Drop, followed by a standing moonsault, which was enough to earn him a two-count. Borne used his Orton-esque power slam but got blocked looking for a suplex.

In the end, Creed planted Borne in position with a powerbomb and then, despite Borne getting back to his feet, finished him with a top rope cannonball. It’s a soft-looking finisher from a really strong dude, but otherwise, you can’t help but be impressed by the Creed brothers.

Natalya vs. Chelsea Green Trick-or-Street Fight set for WWE Raw

A Trick-or-Street Fight has been added to Monday’s Raw.

Natalya will meet Chelsea Green in a Halloween-themed street fight this Monday. She teamed with Nikki Cross this past Monday in a losing effort against the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Green and Piper Niven. Cross mostly stood catatonic on the apron and later walked out of the match, leaving Natalya to be pinned.

It was said on Monday that Tegan Nox, who has been associated with Natalya in recent weeks, was injured but would be back shortly, leading to Cross being Natalya’s partner on Monday. Green also competed on Friday’s SmackDown, where she was pinned by Shotzi.

Here is the updated card for this week’s Raw, which will be held at the Bon Secours Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. It will be the final Raw before the Crown Jewel premium live event next Saturday:

  • Seth Rollins vs. JD McDonagh
  • DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci)
  • Trick or Street Fight: Natalya vs. Chelsea Green
  • Dominik Mysterio vs. Ricochet
  • Xia Li vs. Candice LeRae

WWE Main Event results: JD McDonagh vs. Akira Tozawa

This week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee before Monday’s episode of Raw. We got two good matches this week in front of a crowd who were very much into them.

Katana Chance (w/ Kayden Carter) defeated Chelsea Green (5:04)

This was a good little opener with some nice work, particularly from Chance who looks better every time she’s in the ring.

Chance worked this show for the first time since a win over Emma in June, returning here to make it two-for-two against Green. It was Green’s first Main Event appearance since January 2020. However, she wasted no time reasserting herself and came right out of the block at the bell to nail Chance with a big boot. The early going was pretty much all Green, who played the heel well.

Eventually, Chance got back into things and did a nice spot where she had Green hung on the middle rope and came off the second turnbuckle with a stomp. Green kicked out at two and then tried to use the ropes to steal a win. This prompted Carter to show her absolute disgust for such behavior, but she remained on the outside.

Green signaled to the crowd that it was game over for Chance. She then tossed her opponent into the ropes but Chance blocked it. Chance then hit her with a kick to the midriff and followed it up with a rolling facebuster for the win.

JD McDonagh defeated Akira Tozawa (7:57)

This was a good match here between two guys who can really go. McDonagh has some amazing stuff in his arsenal and Tozawa is the ideal opponent for him to showcase it against.

After a run on this show over the summer, McDonagh has flirted with main roster action, but his presence is always welcome on Main Event.

McDonagh is reasonably active on X, but he didn’t do much to promote this one, other than reposting a gif that tells you pretty much all you need to know about his current persona.

After being beaten down, Tozawa fought his way out and saw the telegraphed clothesline from McDonagh, reversing it into a head scissors takedown. Tozawa then used a top rope back elbow for a near fall.

McDonagh fired up and they went back and forth until Tozawa nailed him with an enziguri and went up to the top rope. This time, he got caught and McDonagh hit him with a beautiful Spanish Fly.

The Devil Inside got this one done for McDonagh who now really needs a main roster run in a proper program with more eyeballs on him.

Piper Niven declares herself Chelsea Green’s tag team partner on WWE Raw

Piper Niven has declared herself one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, becoming Chelsea Green’s new tag partner.

On Raw Monday, Green was upset that Adam Pearce had suggested she vacate the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles due to Sonya Deville’s ACL tear. Green said she would call human resources and instead suggested she hold auditions to determine her new tag team partner. After Kayden Carter and Katana Chance came in to claim a title match, Chance was laid out by the returning Niven, who grabbed one of the titles and declared herself Green’s new partner.

TMZ announced last week that Green’s former tag team partner, Sonya Deville, had torn her ACL and would be out for the foreseeable future. Deville suffered the injury in a tag match with Green against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair on SmackDown the day before SummerSlam.

Niven has not been seen on WWE television since defeating Dana Brooke in a match on Main Event back in May. Her last match in WWE was a loss against Becky Lynch at a WWE house show in Newcastle, England on June 30.

Chelsea Green: Winning WWE Women’s Tag Team titles was ‘the moment’

Chelsea Green is a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Green and Sonya Deville defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the titles on the July 17th Raw from Atlanta’s State Farm Arena and the next day, she was walking the red carpet for the premiere of Cody Rhodes’ upcoming documentary on Peacock.

I had the opportunity to chat with her about winning gold for the first time in WWE and her return to the promotion. You can watch our entire interview above for free on YouTube.

Winning gold

Green explained how winning the titles was “eight years in the making” and that it was the perfect time and place for it to happen.

“I want to tell you that I was overwhelmed with emotion. But honestly, you know my story. Everybody watching this probably knows my story. They’ve seen the ups and downs. I feel like that was the moment. That was the moment: eight years in the making from the time I met Sonya and nine years in the making from when I starting wrestling. That was the moment. It was a perfect place. It was a perfect time. It was the perfect audience. I’m so happy that it was here and now,” she said.

The “Karen” persona

One of the topics I brought up during our conversation was the popularity of her on-screen persona of being a “Karen.” Every week on Raw, fans see Green portray an entitled, demanding, high-maintenance character that has seen a lot of positive feedback from fans on social media.

“The funny thing is I don’t necessarily know that I came back with this cult following that supported me, but I think slowly but surely, I have gained the fans confidence and the fans love,” she said. “Maybe I’ve just entertained them. I don’t know what it is, but I’m okay with that. Whatever it is, I just want to get a reaction when I go out there and I feel like I’ve been getting it. So, I’m so happy for that.”

Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville win Women’s Tag Team titles on WWE Raw

New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned on Monday’s Raw.

Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville defeated Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Deville pulling Rodriguez off the apron, landing on her injured leg on the floor. Deville and Green then double teamed Morgan, with Green delivering an unprettier. Deville then hit a running knee strike for the win.

Earlier in the show, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley confronted Raquel Rodriguez. After Morgan made a comment to Ripley, Ripley responded by headbutting Morgan. It turned into a brawl, with Ripley targeting Rodriguez’s leg, injuring it in the process. Later in the trainer’s room, a WWE medical staff member told Rodriguez he wanted some more scans. Rodriguez said she wanted to defend the titles on Monday’s show despite the injury. WWE official Adam Pearce then allowed Rodriguez to defend the titles later in the show.

Rodriguez & Morgan held the titles for only 16 days, defeating Ronda Rousey and Shayna Bazler at Money in the Bank on July 1.

New Women’s Tag Team title number one contenders crowned on WWE Raw

Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green are next in line for a Women’s Tag Team title match.

Deville & Green won a tag team turmoil match that took place on Monday’s Raw, defeating Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae, Emma & Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke & Tegan Nox, and Katana Chance & Kayden Karter to earn a shot at the new champions, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. It was not said when the Women’s Tag Team title match will take place.

Rodriguez & Morgan defeated Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler at Money in the Bank this past Saturday to win the titles for a second time. They won after Baszler turned on Rousey, allowing Morgan and Rodriguez to score the victory. Rousey and Baszler had another confrontation on Raw Monday, with Baszler once again laying out Rousey.

Deville & Green have been teaming since earlier this year, qualifying for a match at WrestleMania where they lost a four-way women’s tag team showcase match. In May, they took part in a four-way match for the vacant Women’s Tag Team titles that were won by Rousey and Baszler.
