Triple H comments on possible WWE returns of Bray Wyatt, Sasha Banks, Braun Strowman

Paul “Triple H” Levesque has commented on the possible WWE returns of several former members of the roster.

Levesque spoke to Ariel Helwani recently and was asked about the chances of Sasha Banks, Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, and the Rock returning to the company.

When asked about Banks, Levesque responded, “Time will tell. I think in a lot of ways communication breakdowns are terrible. There was a communication breakdown there, for whatever reason. Starting back up that communication is not a difficult process but it can be a process and you have to go through the process. But she’s an unbelievably talented woman who can do just about anything she wants, it just comes down to what does she want to do now.”

“She’s an unbelievable performer that I believe in with everything I have,” he continued.

Levesque was also asked about Braun Strowman.

“Braun Strowman, we’ll see,” he responded. “He’s a polarizing person a little bit sometimes in the business but for a guy his size, what he brings to the table, he’s an amazing athlete.”

“If this is what he wants to do at the highest of levels, then I would like nothing more than to give him another shot,” Levesque continued.

Levesque was also asked about Bray Wyatt returning to WWE.

“One of the most – I mean this in the best way possible – crazy, creative people I’ve ever been around. Mind just never stops thinking of creative but it’s like being in a whirlwind of stuff. So without the harness and without someone to point the tornado, it’s just all over the place. He’s a victim of his own mind and creative but I love working with him.”

Levesque also commented on The Rock. He noted that he believes Rock wants to return for a big event such as WrestleMania but it’s a matter of if doing so works with his schedule.

“I know somewhere deep inside of him there is that burning thing to go, ‘I gotta feel that one more time, gotta get in there one more time because that clock is ticking,'” Levesque said.

Report: Braun Strowman returning to WWE, scheduled to be at Raw

Braun Strowman is reportedly returning to WWE on Monday.

According to a report from PW Insider, multiple sources have confirmed that the former Universal Champion is scheduled to be in Kansas City for Raw.

Earlier this week, Fightful Select reported that WWE had “discussed” the idea of Strowman’s return. WWE sources have reportedly said that he currently looks “ring ready” and “better now than when he was in WWE.”

During his time away from WWE, Strowman wrestled for Control Your Narrative, Northeast Wrestling, Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, and the International Wrestling Cartel under his real name, Adam Scherr. He also appeared on the ROH Final Battle 2021 pay-per-view in December.

Strowman was first signed to WWE in early 2013. He would make his main roster debut as part of the Wyatt family in 2015. During his time with the company, he won the Universal Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and the Raw Tag Team Championships twice (once with Seth Rollins, and once with Nicholas). Strowman also won the Greatest Royal Rumble match in 2018, the Money in the Bank briefcase that same year, and the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2019.

Report: WWE has ‘discussed’ bringing back Braun Strowman

WWE is reportedly interested in bringing back former Universal Champion, Braun Strowman.

According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE has pitched the idea of the 38-year-old returning. Strowman was released from the promotion on June 2, 2021. Sources within the company have said that Strowman currently looks “ring ready” and “better now than when he was in WWE.”

Since leaving WWE last summer, Strowman has appeared at ROH Final Battle 2021, and in several matches for Control Your Narrative under his real name, Adam Scherr. He’s also wrestled twice for Northeast Wrestling in that time.

Another name WWE is interested in bringing back is the former Bronson Reed. Our own Andrew Zarian noted on We’re Live, Pal last week that the wrestler now known as JONAH is someone there have been discussions about. JONAH recently competed in the G1 Climax 32 for NJPW. He finished with a 4-2 record and defeated eventual tournament winner, Kazuchika Okada. JONAH was released from WWE on August 6, 2021.

Braun Strowman appears at ROH Final Battle, aligns with EC3

Adam Scheer, the former Braun Strowman, made an appearance at tonight’s ROH Final Battle event.

Scheer attacked Eli Isom, Brian Johnson, and Dak Draper on tonight’s show along with two other people associated with EC3, one being the former Wesley Blake. The segment ended with EC3’s group carrying Isom, Johnson, and Draper to the back.

Brody King, Homicide, Tony Deppen, and Rocky Romero defeated EC3 and Tracy Williams, Taylor Rust, and Eli Isom on tonight’s show. EC3 brought Isom back to his feet started to cut a promo on corporate wrestling saying it was about wrestlers giving everything in the ring only to get nothing in return. Draper and Johnson came out and complained. EC3 said that this was a call to arms, which brought out Blake, another unidentified person, and eventually Scheer.

Scheer was released from WWE on June 2, with the company citing budget cuts as the reason for the release. He recently appeared on EC3’s Free the Narrative 2 event back in October, defeating EC3.

Report: Braun Strowman expected to make Impact Wrestling debut

Image: WWE

A former WWE Universal Champion appears to be headed to Impact Wrestling.

PWInsider reported on Friday that Adam Scherr (formerly known as Braun Strowman in WWE) is expected to make his Impact Wrestling debut this weekend. The report states that Scherr was spotted flying to Las Vegas from Chicago this morning and will likely debut at Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view this Saturday night.

Bound for Glory is being held at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas on Saturday. The show will begin at 10 p.m. Eastern time. Impact Wrestling also has television tapings taking place at Sam’s Town Live on Sunday and Monday.

Scherr was released by WWE during a round of roster cuts this June. His final match for WWE was at May’s WrestleMania Backlash PPV, where Bobby Lashley defeated Scherr and Drew McIntyre in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship.

The only match Scherr has had since being released by WWE was against EC3 at EC3’s Free The Narrative II: The Monster In Us All show, which premiered earlier this month.

PWInsider had reported last weekend that Scherr was spotted meeting with Impact Wrestling executive vice president Scott D’Amore at a hotel bar in Michigan during the Motor City Comic Con.

The IInspiration (formerly known as The IIconics), who were released by WWE in April, will also make their Impact Wrestling debut as they challenge for Decay’s Knockouts Tag Team titles at Bound for Glory.

Braun Strowman reportedly meets with Impact official

The former Braun Strowman has reportedly met with an Impact official.

PWInsider reported this afternoon that Adam Scherr (Strowman) met with Impact Wrestling executive vice president Scott D’Amore at the hotel bar for the Motor City Comic Con in Detroit, Michigan on October 16. PWInsider described the two as sitting for a long time, with Scherr arriving to meet a waiting D’Amore.

Additionally, PWInsider reported that Impact has been working on “several surprises” for Impact’s upcoming Bound for Glory event, which takes place at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas on October 23 on pay-per-view.

Strowman was released from WWE on June 2, with the company citing budget cuts as the reason for his release. His first match post-WWE involved him defeating EC3 for a Free The Narrative event that was released on October 1.

Bound For Glory is currently headlined by Christian Cage defending the Impact World Championship against Josh Alexander, who vacated the X-Division title to challenge for the World title.

MLW media call notes: Braun Strowman, WWE, women’s division

MLW CEO Court Bauer held a media call today to promote the upcoming MLW Fightland event.

Bauer was asked about having interest in Adam Scherr (Braun Strowman), as well as Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt). Although Bauer avoided the Wyatt question, he noted that they contacted his brother Taylor Rotunda a.k.a Bo Dallas but he wasn’t interested in coming in and is focused on farming. When it came to Strowman, Bauer said while the two had talks but ultimately couldn’t reach a deal.

It was also made clear that the promotion’s long term plan is to have a separate league for the women’s division, as well as their own separate streaming/media show.

Some additional notes from the call:

  • MLW has a residency at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia through 2022.
  • Talks with WWE did happen, but Bauer called them “tricky” and was worried it could hurt the creative of their show.
  • Bauer wants a streaming network for the company, but is waiting for the right situation. He noted that he has to step back and say no sometimes.
  • West coast dates are planned for 2022, pending the state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Bauer said that he hopes that the Fightland show can retain at least 50% of the Dark Side Of The Ring audience.
  • An event showcasing Latin American MLW talent is penciled in for December, but is still pending due to the pandemic.
  • Alexander Hammerstone sprained his ankle at the Fightland tapings. Expected to be ready to go by November tapings.
  • Nicole Savoy’s injury at the tapings was described as a “bruised sternum”. She is expected to be fine in a few weeks. TJP, who tweaked his knee at the Fightland tapings, is also expected to be fine.
  • Bauer put over his working relationships with IWA, AAA, and All Japan. Notes that Tajiri, Savio Vega and Konnan are all great bookers for their respective promotions.

Fightland is set to air on Vice TV tomorrow at 10/9c following a new episode of Dark Side Of The Ring.

Braun Strowman announced for first post-WWE match

The former Braun Strowman has been announced for his first match post-WWE.

Strowman, now going under his real name Adam Scherr, will face Ring Of Honor star EC3 on the second installment of EC3’s web video series, “Free The Narrative”. This will be the 37-year old’s first apperance outside of WWE since he was released earlier this year.

The “Free The Narrative 2” event will be premiering on October 1st, 2021 on Vimeo. The first installation of event was held back on May 27th and featured EC3 taking on Matt Cardona, along with a slew of names from other promotions like John Skyler, Moose and more. The description for the event reads as followed: “Free The Narrative” is completely independent of any wrestling promotion. Set to an original score, FTN blends professional wrestling, cinema, and harsh reality in what will become the true definition of “creative freedom” for an industry that desperately needs it, and any performer that truly seeks it.”

Scherr started his wrestling career with WWE in 2014 and has yet to wrestle in any other promotion. During his seven year stint with the company, Scherr was a two time Tag Team Champion, and a one time Intercontenial and Universal Champion.

WWE interested in bringing Braun Strowman back

In the wake of AEW’s recent and potentially future signings, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is interested in bringing Braun Strowman back.

Meltzer didn’t have any other details other than WWE’s interest.

Strowman (Adam Scherr) was released in June along with Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett. Black signed with AEW while Murphy reportedly has interest from several groups. Another recent cut — Andrade El Idolo — also signed with AEW in recent months.

Meltzer previously reported Strowman was released because of his contract and the feeling internally that he was two years past his peak. Additionally, the presence of other large talents like Omos and Commander Azeez made him expendable.

New Strowman merchandise surprisingly dropped on WWE Shop this week, raising questions as to whether the 37-year-old has re-signed already. While active on social media, Strowman hasn’t given any hints to his future. It’s believed he is on a traditional 90-day non-compete clause, meaning he would be ineligible to work elsewhere until early-September unless WWE allows him to do so.

June 7, 2021 Observer Newsletter: AEW Double or Nothing review, more WWE cuts

There’s an axiom that goes back to the beginning of time, which is that you draw based on the main event and not the depth of the show. It’s been shown over-and-over again in every combat sport. Granted, in wrestling, things have changed in the sense that WWE draws based on the name value of its biggest shows although in the PPV era, the highs and lows of those shows were always main event based.

Double or Nothing on 5/30 turned out to be the exception, because most saw it as a deep card, but it didn’t have the killer main event that other shows had. But it ended up as the second most successful PPV show in company history, trailing only Revolution earlier this year.

Unlike with Revolution, which, when it became clear it was breaking the old record, we asked people why and the reason was largely exactly what one would think, people were interested in the explosive barbed wire match with Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW title and that match got people to buy.

WWE Raw video highlights: Raw’s final build to WrestleMania Backlash

Image: WWE

Last night’s Raw ended with Braun Strowman standing tall ahead of WrestleMania Backlash.

The main event of last night’s go-home show saw WWE Champion Bobby Lashley face Drew McIntyre in a non-title match, but it ended in a disqualification when Strowman attacked McIntyre. MVP had approached Strowman earlier in the night and suggested that Strowman could help take out McIntyre so that the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash could become one-on-one.

Strowman helped Lashley up after attacking McIntyre, but Strowman then laid out Lashley as well. Strowman gave McIntyre and Lashley multiple powerslams, including giving Lashley one through the barricade.

Last week’s Raw had ended with McIntyre standing tall over Lashley and Strowman. Lashley defeated Strowman in last week’s main event after Strowman was distracted by McIntyre.

Lashley is defending his WWE Championship against McIntyre and Strowman in a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash this Sunday.

The Raw Women’s Championship will also be on the line in a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash. Rhea Ripley will defend her title against Asuka and Charlotte Flair.

Last night, Ripley defeated Asuka in a non-title singles match that Charlotte had gotten Sonya Deville to make. Asuka, Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke defeated Charlotte, Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler earlier in the show, but Charlotte dropped Asuka with a big boot after the match. Alexa Bliss and her doll Lilly watched that six-woman tag match from the stage. Bliss said they were keeping their eyes on someone.

Asuka pinned Baszler in the six-woman tag match after Bliss and Lilly were apparently able to make Baszler’s leg give out leading into the finish.

A new WrestleMania Backlash match was also confirmed last night. Damian Priest will face The Miz in a lumberjack match at Sunday’s PPV. Priest got to pick the stipulation for the match after defeating John Morrison last night.

WWE Champion Bobby Lashley faced off with one of his WrestleMania Backlash challengers in the main event of last night’s episode of Raw.

Going into last night’s show, it had been advertised that Lashley would be facing either Drew McIntyre or Braun Strowman in a one-on-one non-title match. Strowman won a coin toss at the beginning of the episode and got to face Lashley in the main event.

Lashley defeated Strowman after Strowman got into a confrontation with McIntyre during the match. As McIntyre was on commentary, Strowman went to hit a charge on Lashley on the outside. Lashley moved out of the way and Strowman was sent into McIntyre. Strowman and McIntyre then got into a shoving match.

Strowman had his attention turned to McIntyre and then turned around into a spear from Lashley. Lashley pinned Strowman to get the win, but the show ended with McIntyre standing tall over both of them. McIntyre laid out both Lashley and Strowman with Claymores after the match.

WWE has announced that Lashley will face McIntyre in a non-title match on next Monday’s Raw, which is the go-home show for WrestleMania Backlash. Lashley is defending his WWE Championship against McIntyre and Strowman in a triple threat match at the pay-per-view.

WWE Raw video highlights: McIntyre vs. Strowman, Charlotte reinstated

Image: WWE

As a result of the main event of last night’s Raw, a change has been made to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash.

Bobby Lashley will now defend his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday, May 16. Strowman got added to the match by defeating McIntyre on Raw last night.

Lashley, MVP, Mace, and T-Bar all got involved in McIntyre and Strowman’s match. Lashley and MVP weren’t happy about Lashley’s title defense potentially becoming a triple threat. They tried to cost Strowman the match, but Strowman won with a powerslam after McIntyre was distracted by Mace and T-Bar.

The McIntyre and Strowman match was the result of dissension between them as they took on Mace & T-Bar earlier in the night.

Also on last night’s Raw, Charlotte Flair was reinstated just one week after she was “suspended indefinitely” for attacking referee Eddie Orengo. Sonya Deville went behind her fellow authority figure Adam Pearce’s back to have Charlotte reinstated.

Charlotte issued an apology but continued to belittle Orengo as he refereed her match against Mandy Rose. Charlotte also made Orengo apologize to her after Orengo admitted that he made a mistake when he didn’t see Rhea Ripley interfere in Charlotte’s match against Asuka last week.

Braun Strowman added to WWE title match at WrestleMania Backlash

The WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash is now a triple threat.

WWE Champion Bobby Lashley will defend his title against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash. The title match had originally been announced as Lashley vs. McIntyre, but Strowman was added to the match after defeating McIntyre on tonight’s episode of Raw.

Lashley, MVP, T-Bar, and Mace all got involved in McIntyre and Strowman’s match tonight. Lashley and MVP wanted McIntyre to win so that Strowman wouldn’t be added to the WrestleMania Backlash title match, but Strowman won with a powerslam after McIntyre was distracted by T-Bar and Mace.

It was mentioned on tonight’s show that it was a triple threat match that Lashley lost the United States Championship in this February. Lashley lost the title without being involved in the fall.

McIntyre & Strowman were set to face T-Bar & Mace in a rematch from last week on Raw tonight. But before the match got started, Strowman approached McIntyre and asked why he hasn’t thanked Strowman for saving him from T-Bar and Mace last week. After Strowman and McIntyre argued, Strowman said he was going to defeat T-Bar & Mace on his own and do what McIntyre couldn’t do last Monday.

Strowman vs. T-Bar & Mace ended in a disqualification after T-Bar and Mace wouldn’t stop attacking Strowman in the corner. McIntyre then came out to the ring and tried to fight off T-Bar and Mace. After McIntyre and Strowman sent T-Bar and Mace out of the ring, McIntyre asked Strowman if he was going to thank him.

McIntyre & Strowman then faced T-Bar & Mace in a tag match. T-Bar & Mace won by countout after McIntyre accidentally gave Strowman a clothesline on the outside. Strowman laid out McIntyre with a powerslam following the match and told McIntyre to never hit him again.

McIntyre went to WWE authority figure Adam Pearce after the tag match and said he wanted to face Strowman tonight. Later in the show, Strowman also met with Pearce. Strowman said he was fine with facing McIntyre but pointed out that he wasn’t pinned in the triple threat match where McIntyre became the number one contender to Lashley’s WWE Championship. Pearce agreed to add Strowman to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash if he defeated McIntyre.

Lashley has been WWE Champion since winning the title from The Miz this March. Lashley retained the title against McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 night one.

WrestleMania Backlash is taking place on Sunday, May 16. Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:

  • WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defends against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defends against Bayley
