Killer Kelly is stepping away from pro wrestling for the rest of the year in order to take care of her health.
In a statement posted on social media this afternoon, Kelly said that she has had problems breathing during her matches and will be taking time off to fix her nose and breathing problems.
“Since coming back to wrestling, I’ve noticed that something is off,” she wrote. “I tried my best to hide it, mainly because I wasn’t understanding what was happening. And because I wanted to keep on wrestling. Thankfully, none of you picked [up] on it. And only my opponents knew what was happening.”
“I’ve been having a lot of trouble breathing to the point that I couldn’t take a breath,” she added. “And no, this isn’t COVID related because I’ve never had it/don’t have it. It’s “just” me being not capable of breathing. So with that said I’ve pulled away from all my wrestling commitments for the year and I’m going to take some time away to fix my nose and my breathing. I didn’t want to do this but health should come first.”
After spending most of 2021 inactive, Kelly returned in September, wrestling for Black Label Pro and Beyond Wrestling.
Left My Wallet returns with Drew Cordeiro, owner and promoter of Beyond Wrestling, to talk about the challenges, pitfalls, and positives of running shows during the pandemic.
Drew is someone who I know extremely well, having worked with him and Beyond for the last 18 months. He is passionate about his product and growing Beyond into one of, if not the top, independent wrestling promotions in the country.
We talk about what led him to run three shows over the summer and fall, the safety measures he had to follow in order to run, the logistics with reduced fan capacities, and running with no fans. He also delves into what went into his decision to cancel his November 8th “Tournament for Tomorrow” show.
Enjoy this story about his journey during the pandemic to bring fans the same in-ring action that Beyond has come to be known for.
Left My Wallet is back with an NBA roundtable edition featuring former ROH World Champion Matt Taven and the voice both Beyond Wrestling and Northeast Wrestling, Paul Crockett.
We start off discussing if we think the NBA season will resume, and our beloved Boston Celtics. We give our outlook for which teams from each conference are contenders and pretenders, what jerseys we own, our favorite players, Paul’s love for Sean Kemp, and we attempt to play the NBA/wrestling name with less than optimal results.
It’s a glorious and chaotic mashup of NBA banter in this roundtable edition of Left My Wallet. Enjoy!
“Left My Wallet” is here with a special episode dedicated to the rising popularity of Beyond Wrestling and their Uncharted Territory series.
The series can be streamed live every Wednesday night at 8 PM Eastern and the shows have given me a platform to perform and get noticed again as Thomas Santell, and has also jumpstarted the careers of many of today’s top workers such as Keith Lee, Oney Lorcan, Chris Dickinson, and more. This is also the promotion where myself and a mystery partner will face off against the Empire’s very own Bryan Alvarez and “Filthy” Tom Lawlor at AMERICANRANA ’19 on July 28th.
But first, I go into sports and wrestling with former guests Kenn Doane and Sidney Bakabella as well as Beyond play-by-play man Paul Crockett, Evolve star Anthony Greene, and the man responsible for Beyond Wrestling, Drew Cordeiro.
It’s a quick and fun episode with a little bit of everything for the wrestling and sports fan. If you haven’t been watching or aren’t familiar with Beyond, take a listen and get to know a little about Beyond Wrestling and Uncharted Territory.
A week after he was granted his release, the former Tye Dillinger has been announced for his first matches since departing WWE.
Create A Pro Wrestling announced today that Dillinger, who is going by the name Shawn Spears, will have his “first post-WWE independent match” at their event in Lynbrook, New York on Friday, May 31.
Shawn Spears is the name Dillinger used at the beginning of his career.
Dillinger tweeted before the announcements were made: “Ok, under 2 weeks out and my excitement is already building. So, Let’s get to work. NOW accepting bookings for shows after May. 31st, 2019 and available now for select signings and appearances. Email: [email protected] Thank you all and I look forward to this.”
That May 31 date is after AEW Double or Nothing, which is taking place on May 25.
WWE announced on February 22 that they had “come to terms on the release” of Dillinger. That came after Dillinger posted a statement revealing that he requested his release on February 19. He thanked everyone in WWE and wrote: “I feel at this time this decision, as extremely difficult as it was, is what is best for myself and WWE. I wish to continue to grow as a performer and offer those paying hard earned money to watch a show I’m performing on, a little more of myself.”
Thursday night of WrestleMania week ended with Beyond Wrestling’s “Lit Up,” which featured a full card of intergender matches.
– Matt Riddle defeated Deonna Purrazzo
This was both Riddle and Purrazzo’s first-ever intergender match. It was also Riddle’s third match of the day. They exchanged holds and did chain wrestling early until Riddle won with a powerbomb and knee strike combo.
After the match, Riddle let the crowd know that he had to finish it because Purrazzo was kicking his ass. James Ellsworth then attacked Riddle from behind with his Intergender Championship before running off scared when Riddle took the mic to say that everyone knows Ellsworth F’d up. They have a match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break II tonight.
Grace and LuFisto used their powerbomb/muscle buster combo and won in a fast-paced and action-packed bout.
– Josh Briggs defeated Davienne
Briggs won with a huge chokeslam backbreaker.
– Thunder Rosa & Holidead defeated Chris Dickinson & Jaka
They had a hard-hitting back-and-forth match, with Rosa and Holidead winning after a flurry of huge moves — including a pedigree and an off the top foot stomp.
– Jonathan Gresham defeated Karen Q
Gresham is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world and Karen Q was with him every step of the way here. Gresham won with a bridging pinning combination. The crowd applauded this when it was over.
– Solo Darling & Travis Huckabee defeated Joey Ryan & Laura James
Ryan tried his Sweet Tooth Music on Darling, but the lollipop gave her a burst of energy that allowed her to apply the cloverleaf for the submission victory.
– Powerbomb TV Independent Champion Tracy Williams defeated Kimber Lee to retain his title
Kimber Lee was returning to Beyond Wrestling after being released by WWE. It took everything Williams had for him to submit her with a crossface.
– Tessa Blanchard defeated Maxwell Jacob Friedman (w/ Stokely Hathaway, Wheeler Yuta, and Mia Yim)
Yim had been out of action due to injury and was returning here. MJF was the instigator in this one until he refused to let anyone go for the banned piledriver, which took his focus away and allowed Blanchard to get the victory.
– Jessicka Havok defeated Jimmy Havoc
Two chokeslams and a sit-out powerbomb ended this one after Havok kicked out of the Acid Rainmaker.
– Joey Janela & Penelope Ford defeated Orange Cassidy & Session Moth Martina
This was the most wild, all-over-the-place comedy match that could happen at 2:30 a.m. Cassidy used the slowest Canadian Destroyer ever, which is a banned move in the state of Louisiana. Ford hit him with a crossbody for the pin.
– Toni Storm defeated Timothy Thatcher
Good match here at nearly 3 a.m. Thatcher was busted open along the way, then Storm put him away with an armbar.
In an announcement on Friday, FloSports revealed that independent promotions Beyond Wrestling and PWX would be airing live events on the streaming service. FloSlam will stream Beyond’s December 11th event in Melrose, MA, along with PWX’s two-night X16 tournament on November 19th-20th.
The promotions are the second and third announced additions to the lineup, with the company previously announcing that they had reached an exclusive multi-year deal to stream events from EVOLVE and the rest of the World Wrestling Network.
Beyond tweeted that, for now, their deal is only for the December 11th show and 90-day rights to its VOD.
Beyond is based in the Northeast and prides itself on featuring a unique atmosphere with standing-room crowds, and the promotion has regularly been home to some of the region’s top talent. The December 11th show will take place in the same building before EVOLVE 75.
The North Carolina-based PWX has already announced Zack Sabre Jr., Matt Riddle, Fred Yehi, Trevor Lee, Davey Richards, and others for the 16-man X16 tournament.
FloSlam will broadcast its first live pro wrestling show tonight with SHINE 38. The subscription costs $20 a month or $150 for a year.
