Left My Wallet: Scotty 2 Hotty on leaving WWE, why he wanted to get back out on the indies

Left My Wallet is back with former WWE superstar and NXT coach and trainer Scotty 2 Hotty.

Scott Garland is a fellow New Englander and we talk about our love for our Boston Red Sox growing up, the heartache we went through as fans before 2004, meeting Bill Buckner, and becoming spoiled with four World Series wins.

We then talk about his time coming up through the New England independent scene and some of the workers who helped him throughout his early career. We go into his first match, setting up the ring at WWF house shows in Maine, starting as a “backyarder” and how he was pretty much trained during matches.

We then talk about his philosophy about getting back out on the indies, why he chose to do so, marketing himself, what he will and won’t do, and finding a new love for wrestling.

We then finish up with some talk about the in-ring working aspects of the business (including some long-lost keys) and who the greatest worker he ever stepped in the ring with was. 

The former Too Cool member is the definition of fun and to no surprise, this was a very fun episode! Whether you know him as Scotty 2 Hotty, S2H, Scott Taylor, Scott Garland or just Scotty, hear his takes on feeling reinvigorated and the exciting things he has coming up.

Left My Wallet is back with our very own DragonKing: Karl Stern

The host of both the DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show and DragonKing Dark is here to talk about some Alabama football, wrestling figures, and more.

We start by talking about the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban, following the myriad of players to move on to the NFL, and the rich tradition of Alabama football.

We then move on to talk about Karl’s time working in independent wrestling and some of the famous workers he has had the chance to work with. 

We then talk about the classic Remco AWA figures, what made them so special, and what led Karl doing a show specifically about them. We then switched to video games, the great video game crash of 1983, and the over saturation of games that led to it. 

Karl talked about what his block of wrestling was on Saturday morning growing up and some underrated workers he loved growing up. 

Finally, the talk turns to the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame as we discuss some interesting potential candidates and what Karl thinks should be considered when putting in your ballots. 

Not only does Karl do his two podcasts for our website, but he also expands on many of these fun topics on his very own When It Was Cool Patreon.

This was one of the most fun episodes I have done on this website and I think you’ll enjoy it as well.

Left My Wallet returns with our annual Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame talk with Jim Valley.

Before that, we talk superheroes and what Jim is watching from both the Marvel and DC Universe, the remake of The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes, 80’s sitcoms, television theme songs, and a great story from the Cauliflower Alley Club.

Then, in our main event, Jim and I discuss who he voted for in this year’s Observer HOF and other curious candidates. He breaks down the case for Don Owen and we delve into some families and factions that should get consideration to be on the ballot.

We discuss the Steiner Brothers, CM Punk, Paul Orndorff, Morris Sigel, Ole Anderson, George Kidd and why Jim voted for…Nikki Bella? He makes a compelling case for the former WWE star and why he feels she should be in.

Left My Wallet is back with AEW Dark regular Invictus Khash who is training with QT Marshall at the Nightmare Factory and is an underrated worker that more fans should be talking about.

The Buddy Wayne trainee joins the show to talk about coming to America from Iran at age 10, soccer in Iran, stealing cable, and being introduced to wrestling when he first got here.

He then talks about his time learning and training under Wayne, having some of his first matches against Darby Allin, training with Rip Rogers and Negro Navarro, wrestling and training for Zero-One, and some fun stories from the road traveling and working with yours truly.

Khash is an amazing in-ring technician as evidenced by his matches on Dark against Bobby Fish, Allin, Shawn Spears, and this week’s match with Angelico. He has a fascinating story and journey that you’re going to want to hear about.

Left My Wallet: Pro wrestling phenom Nick Wayne

Left My Wallet returns with 16-year-old wrestling super phenom Nick Wayne.

Nick is one of the brightest, rising stars in wrestling today and the son of the great Buddy Wayne.

In addition to training Nick, Bryan Alvarez, Darby Allin, and countless other fantastic workers, Buddy was a great friend of mine. I have known Nick since he was seven or eight years old, so this episode means much more to me than most.

Nick has made quite a name for himself the last few months, becoming a regular for Game Changer Wrestling in addition to working for Black Label Pro, Defy and other indies this year. He is coming off of fantastic matches against TJP, Petey Williams and Joey Janela and it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a household name in pro wrestling.

I think he might be the best 16-year old-worker I have ever seen and it brings me great pleasure to bring this episode to you.

Buddy was no stranger to this website and in the coming months and years, Nick will become a topic of conversation, not only here, but all over the professional wrestling landscape. Enjoy this conversation and get to know third generation phenom, Nick Wayne.

The former WWE Tag Team champion joins me in talking a little fantasy football, our upcoming matchup in our OVW league and his new wrestling school: the Manticore Wrestling Academy.

He talks about what spurred him on to start the school, promoting it, his philosophy on training, our training coming up in OVW, recruiting students, and more.

Jeter was one of the most popular OVW originals from its heyday in 2000 through 2005 and one of the favorites among diehard fans who remember the glory days of OVW. Left My Wallet: The fast rise of indie breakout Jack Cartwheel

Left My Wallet is back with one of the brightest and up-and-coming talents in wrestling today in Jack Cartwheel.

He has made quite a name for himself this year on the independent scene with his work in PWG and GCW and now he’s here to talk about that leap into notoriety, along with some football as he still plays college football in California.

In our talk, he discusses the balance of playing college football and wrestling, as well as the toll it takes on him physically. Other topics include his love for the Miami Dolphins, transitioning into the college game at a different position as high school, what pro players he emulates and what he channels into his own game.

We then discuss his training for pro wrestling, his unique style, GCW scramble life, making the leap in competition to PWG, and the strides he has made as a worker in the last year.

Left My Wallet returns with former WWE NXT wrestler Denzel Dejournette as the former Division I All-American is here to talk about his love of 90’s R&B, the Dallas Cowboys and some pro wrestling.

The former Appalachian State standout talks about how hard his NXT tryout was compared to collegiate wrestling, the transition from college to pro wrestling, what he found the easiest to pick up and what has been the most difficult as well as what lies ahead in the next stage in his career.

Having coached Denzel at the WWE Performance Center, I realized quickly he has a natural charisma and the potential to be a standout on the independent wrestling scene. Get to know a little more about him on this week’s Left My Wallet.

Left My Wallet: Tyson Dux on how he’s giving back to pro wrestling

Left My Wallet returns with former TNA talent and WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor Tyson Dux, a 24-year veteran that is a fountain of knowledge for young and experienced workers alike on both his YouTube channel and Twitter.

On this podcast, Tyson and I talk about our time working for All-Japan Pro Wrestling, things that he sees that young workers could improve on, bringing wrestling back to the mat by utilizing hooks, holds, grappling and amateur wrestling and his philosophy on teaching and training young workers.

This is a very informative show for any young worker as Tyson and I talk psychology and philosophy when it comes to using logic and realism in wrestling today.

Left My Wallet: Anthony Greene on his days as WWE’s August Grey

Left My Wallet returns with the man formerly known as August Grey in NXT, Anthony Greene.

Anthony was on the show last year prior to signing with WWE, but now he’s back to talk about his time there and his return to the independent scene. He talks about which coaches he enjoyed working with at the Performance Center, adjusting to working television matches, learning from Brian Kendrick, Sonjay Dutt and Scott Taylor, and whom he enjoyed working with on 205 Live. He also talks about teaming with Ikemen Jiro and the bond they developed both in and out of the ring.

We then talk about his first match back on the indie scene since his release, how he felt, and what his goals are. He talks about evolving this time around and developing a more rugged persona.

The talk then turns to obscure indie wrestling and some of the names and experiences from the past that we’ve encountered, both in and out of New England. Finally, we talk sports cards and what it was like to finally have a trading card of his own.

Left My Wallet: Debbie Malenko on her MMA debut, returning to wrestling

Left My Wallet returns with former All-Japan Women’s star Debbie Malenko in her first interview since making her MMA debut in May and returning to the ring in July.

Debbie talks about her journey leading up to each event and what led her to step into the MMA world for the first time in her 40s. She also talks about her training, the challenges of preparing for the fight on short notice, and how her surgically repaired ankle felt.

She then talks about her return to the wrestling ring, this time for good. She goes through her mindset before walking through that curtain for only the third time in the last 20 years, how she felt, her training for her return, and whom she would love to step in the ring with.

We then talk about what her favorite match of all time was, training with Boris Malenko and Karl Gotch, Championship Wrestling from Florida, incorporating MMA into her pro wrestling, and many of the working aspects of the sport. Debbie is back wrestling and she’s here to stay!
