Women’s World title match, Young Bucks vs. Rascalz part of AEW Collision lineup

Spring BreakThru will continue on a special Thursday AEW Collision that is being taped after Wednesday’s Dynamite in Everett, Washington.

After defeating Jamie Hayter at Sunday’s Dynasty, AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla will put her title on the line against Hayter’s Brawling Birds teammate Alex Windsor. The match was made Wednesday after Windsor and Thekla got into a verbal spat.

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley will take on Washington native Nick Wayne in a title eliminator in Wayne’s first AEW match since July 2025. A Wayne win gives him a future title shot.

After they defeated Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada at Dynasty, the Young Bucks will take on The Rascalz.

After picking up their first win as a team last week, former AEW Women’s World Champions Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida will team up once again.

Adam Copeland will make an appearance, but it was unclear if it will be live or pre-taped.

Hikaru Shida returns on AEW Collision after nearly 500 day absence

For the first time in nearly 500 days, former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida returned to AEW TV, making a surprise return on Thursday’s Collision.

Shida challenged reigning TBS Champion Willow Nightingale in an open challenge, losing on a backslide and teasing hitting Nightingale with a cane shot afterward.

It was Shida’s first match in AEW since November 2024 when she was defeated by Kris Statlander. Part of her absence was due to a slow visa process as described by Kenny Omega in May 2025. Last October, she shared on social media that she was returning to the United States but it’s unclear what took so long for AEW to bring her back.

The 37-year-old Shida has remained relatively active in Japan during her time home, wrestling 11 times for various promotions.

An AEW original who has been with the promotion since 2019, Shida has had three reigns as AEW Women’s World Champion. The most recent of those reigns occurred in 2023.

AEW Collision live results: Who will answer Willow Nightingale’s Open Challenge?

AEW Collision will air tonight rather than its usual Saturday time slot.

The episode was taped on Wednesday night at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the same day AEW presented a live episode of Dynamite at the venue.

Seven matches are advertised for the show, including TBS Champion Willow Nightingale defending her title in an open challenge. The AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR are also scheduled for a tag match as they prepare to defend against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at Dynasty.

The fullineup for AEW Collision on Thursday, April 2, 2026:

Jon Moxley vs. Anthony Bowens – AEW Continental Championship Eliminator

Bowens wasted no time in trying to prove himself to Hook as a killer by going right after Moxley. He exchanged hard chops, and actually sent Moxley to the floor, forcing Moxley to take time to recover. When Moxley came back into the ring they began exchanging some technical wrestling, with Moxley falling victim to a crucifix pinfall attempt, and Moxley getting more and more frustrated until he bit Bowens and started throwing punches in the corner.

Bowens, however, turned it around and hit several punches that forced the referee to pull him apart from Moxley. Moxley bailed to the floor, and Bowens followed this time, falling right into Moxley’s trap as Moxley chopped him in the throat and then threw him over the guardrail. Bowens, again, was not to be underestimated, and pulled Moxley into the crowd and started brawling with Moxley. Moxley begged off, and Bowens took him back to the ringside area with a stumbling Moxley.

Moxley baited Bowens in, turned Bowens into a hammerlock, and sent Bowens crashing into the ring steps before finally getting room to breathe. Moxley sent Bowens into a second set of stairs, finding a weakness to finally target with the shoulder. Nigel McGuinness noted that it was the arm that Bowens typically uses for the Mollywhop finish, which was a good piece of commentary. As they came back from break on TNT, Moxley was continuing the assault on the shoulder.

Bowens hit a superkick after some misdirection and Moxley face planted afterwards. Moxley and Bowens got to their feet at the same time and Moxley invited Bowens to start throwing strikes. Moxley, after absorbing a few forearms, started hitting punches and a headbutt, but Moxley ate a pump kick, and then Bowens hit a superplex on Moxley after the spilled back to the corner. Bowens charged out of the corner after recovering, but Moxley hit a cutter. Bowens countered Moxley on another move and ended up hitting a twisting DDT out of the corner for a 2-count.

Moxley rolled with Bowens and locked on an armbar, but Bowens managed to roll out to the ropes, which infuriated Moxley. Moxley tried to piledrive Bowens on the floor in response, but Bowens countered with back body drop. Bowens grabbed a chair, looking at it, and decided to foolishly swing at Moxley, but he missed. They went back to the ring and Bowens managed to hit the Mollywhop, and hit 2 more on top of that, but he took his time trying to pin Moxley, so Moxley immediately transitioned into a bulldog choke. As Bowens was reaching for the ropes and struggling to his feet, Moxley twisted and spun Bowens into the middle of the ring and hit a Death Rider for the pinfall.

Result: Jon Moxley defeated Anthony Bowens

Moxley gave Bowens one of the best singles matches of his career in this one. It was a good match, with a great finish, and Moxley tried to make Bowens look like a real threat. I am not sure it worked, but the crowd popped for the finish.

–Will Ospreay ran down after the match and hit Moxley with a Hidden Blade as soon as he got up and turned around. Ospreay then grabbed a chair and indicated that he was going to put it around Moxley’s neck and stomp on it, but the Death Riders ran in and pulled Moxley out of the ring, leaving the title behind.

Ospreay took the mic and wanted to make sure that the Death Riders did not get involved in the match. Ospreay then wanted the Continental title to the match, forcing Moxley to fight him with zero interference. Tony Khan made it official and the match is now for the AEW Continental Championship.

–Kazuchika Okada, Andrade El Idolo, and Mark Davis were backstage, and Okada claimed that they wanted to get revenge for Kyle Fletcher being injured. Okada also openly wondered where Takeshita was, saying that he clearly didn’t care about Kyle Fletcher.

Divine Dominion (Lena Kross & Megan Bayne) vs. Kristara & Ava Lawless

This was a super fast squash match with Divine Dominion destroying the local talent. The match ended when Divine Dominion hit Divine Intervention on Ava Lawless after about two minutes. Good squash match.

–Jon Moxley was backstage with the Death Riders, and he said he was not surprised that Will Ospreay attacked him, but was surprised that Ospreay wanted the AEW Continental Championship. Moxley noted that a one on one match with him was not something you walked into if you are not 100%, but maybe Ospreay really believes he is 100% or wants Moxley to believe it, but Moxley is going to give him no mercy. Moxley said that he didn’t need to beat Ospreay because Ospreay was going to beat himself.

Jon Moxley continues to have some of the best promos in wrestling every week with this one. Moxley and Ospreay should be a tremendous match.

–The Hurt Business were backstage, and MVP noted that they were back in business, and Lashley was cleared. They announced that they were in the market for new talent, and that they were going to hurt some people.

Willow Nightingale vs. Hikaru Shida for the TBS Championship

Shida looked very happy to be back on AEW TV. Nightingale and Shida shook hands before locking up. Shida was very fired up as she hit a shoulder tackle on Nightingale. Nightingale slipped out of a corner punch attempt and hit a series of lariats on Shida, but Shida countered an Irish whip by sending Nightingale into the corner and hitting a flying knee and PK on the ground. Shida hit the ropes, but Nightingale switched directions and hit a pounce that sent Shida to the floor.

Nightingale hit a cannonball on Shida to the floor as they went to break. Nightingale attempted the powerbomb a few times when they came back to break, but Shida countered out. Nightingale went for the moonsault off the top rope, but Shida moved and hit a series of running knees for a 2-count. After Shida and Nightingale jockeyed for position a bit, but Nightingale hit a backslide for the pinfall victory.

Result: Willow Nightingale defeated Hikaru Shida

–Shida looked to attack Nightingale after the match with her kendo stick, but in the end decided not to, and as Nightingale turned around, she backed down.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway and a security team) vs. London Lightning and Mo Jabari

It was nice for me to see London Lightning here, a local star from my part of Canada, having gotten to Winnipeg for this show. Lightning started the match with Dax Harwood, who slapped him. Harwood hit him with a hard shoulder tackle, and then a chop, punch, and lariat. Harwood took a double team move from Lightning and Jabari, but drove Jabari back to the corner and started beating on him with Wheeler. However, as they tried to attack him, he kicked Wheeler away and tagged back out to Lightning. Lightning came in ready to fight, but Harwood and Wheeler were on the ground. This puzzled him. He poked Harwood with his foot, then rolled him over to try and pin him, but Harwood immediately kicked out, baiting him in, and as Lightning tried to get up, FTR hit him with the Shatter Machine. That was funny and great.

–Adam Copeland and Christian Cage came down to the ring after the match, took out the security with chairs, and then laid out FTR. Wheeler was left laying, and Christian went for the conchairto, but Stokley Hathaway took it away from him. Security came back in to attack Christian and Copeland, but Christian laid one out with a Killswitch while Copeland hit a spear on the other. Christian then hit a conchairto on the security guard. That seems excessive.

–Mina Shirakawa, Jamie Hayter, and Alex Windsor were backstage. They noted that they are calling themselves the Love Birds, and Windsor was the new NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, while Hayter was feeling the need for a world title too, and she challenged Thekla to a title match at AEW Dynasty.

Juice Robinson vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Robinson put Ciampa in a hammerlock at the start of the match, Ciampa screamed “He has the hair!” This claim did not convince the referee, as Ciampa is bald. Robinson hit ten punches in the corner on Ciampa and then bit him to send him to the floor. This did not work out for Robinson, as Ciampa swept his leg and slammed him into the apron before biting Robinson’s nose. Ciampa spit water into the face of Robinson and then faked out Tony Schiavone with a high five. That was great.

As they came back from a break both men were brawling in the middle of the ring, with Robinson hitting a hard headbutt and then a spinebuster. Robinson hit left jab and chop series that sent Robinson back to the corner. Excalibur said this reminded him of Genichiro Tenryu, which was not a comparison I was expecting tonight.

Robinson hit a cannonball in the corner and then a Jackhammer for a 2-count. Robinson went for a dive off the top rope, but Ciampa ducked under and Robinson crashed to the mat. Ciampa went for the running knee, but Robinson hit an axe kick. As Robinson picked Ciampa up Ciampa grabbed the referee and low blowed Robinson before hitting the Widow’s Bell for a 2-count.

Ciampa and Robinson fought on the top rope, leading to Ciampa going for the avalanche Psycho Driver, but Robinson flipped out of it and hit a powerbomb on Ciampa for a 2-count. Robinson ended up getting dropkicked in the knee, leading to Ciampa going for the running knee again, but Robinson dodged, hit the left hand of God, and went for Juice is Loose, but Ciampa countered and hit the running knee. Ciampa followed this with a second knee, and he scored the pinfall.

Result: Tommaso Ciampa defeated Juice Robinson

–Isiah Kassidy was backstage and wanted to respond to what happened last week with Moxley and the Death Riders. Kassidy said that Moxley kept saying it was time for a change, and last time they did change when Moxley broke his hand with a hammer, because a few weeks later, Private Party became tag team champions. Kassidy noted that it was time for change again, because Moxley injured Marq Quen, and he was alone for now. So, he was going to make the best of it and promised that he would keep fighting. This was a good promo.

–Darby Allin was backstage at AEW Dynamite, and that he needed to beat Andrade El Idolo, and that he would get a title match against MJF if he beat him. He noted that Omega promised to honour that stipulation as well. As he was saying this, Brody King and Jack Perry walked up, and noted that King and Allin took years of each other’s lives as they fought all over the world. Jack Perry noted that Darby Allin set him on fire. King noted that he had a tattoo with Allin’s name on a tombstone. Perry noted that Allin set him on fire. Allin said that they could at least agree that they didn’t like the Don Callis Family and could set aside their disagreements to fight them. Jack Perry noted that Darby Allin set him on fire.

The Don Callis Family (Mark Davis & Andrade El Idolo) (w/ Don Callis) vs. The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachery Wentz) (w/ Myron Reed)

Davis and Andrade took it to Wentz and Xavier right away, brawling around ringside until Xavier and Davis made it into the ring. Wentz and Xavier hit a double team move on Davis, who kicked out at one. Callis said that it was a negative one. That’s Brody Lee Jr., good sir. Andrade kicked Xavier as he hit the ropes and tagged in. Xavier sent Andrade to the floor and tried a dive, but Andrade took his head off with an elbow as he flew to the floor. Andrade then posed with a woman in the front row, which actually disgusted Don Callis, because he said she might be from Winnipeg, his own home town.

Davis locked a Boston Crab on Xavier, and tagged out to Andrade after locking in for a little while. Andrade ducked under a spinning enziguri from Xavier and hit a flying knee of his own. Andrade went for charging knees in the corner, but Xavier managed to hit a superkick out of the corner, forcing Andrade to tag out, and giving Xavier the chance to tag Wentz. Wentz hit a series of kicks on Davis, trying to use his superior speed to keep the bigger man on the back foot. Wentz hit a big superkick and then a torneo off the middle rope for a 2-count.

Callis got up from the announce desk to yell at his men, and Davis soon thereafter hit a lariat on Xavier. It broke down into all 4 men being in the ring hitting quick offence until The Rascalz hitting some double team moves on Davis. The Rascalz went for Hot Fire Flame, but Davis got the knees up. Andrade brought Xavier to the floor and hit a spinning back elbow, while Davis hit a deadlift piledriver on Wentz. Andrade then hit the DM on Wentz for the pinfall.

Result: The Don Callis Family defeated The Rascalz

–After the match, Kazuchika Okada, Rocky Romero, and Trent Beretta came down to ringside and started beating on Wentz and Xavier. Okada was going to hit Xavier with a Rainmaker, but Myron Reed ran in to make the save, and he drove Romero and Beretta from the ring before hitting a tope con giro on the Callis family. Maybe we’ll be seeing Reed and Okada in a match soon? Or a six man tag with the Callis Family and Rascalz? That would be fun.

The Dogs (David Finlay & Clark Connors) & The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli) (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong), Mistico, & Kevin Knight

The Death Riders and Dogs attacked the other team before they could finish their entrance, isolating Mistico right away, with Claudio Castagnoli trying to rip the mask of Mistico off. Castagnoli tried to press Mistico, but he slipped out and hit a headscissors on Castagnoli and an armdrag that sent Castagnoli to the floor. Mistico hit a diving headbutt to Castagnoli, but he was grabbed by The Dogs right after. Yuta went for a dive, but Orange Cassidy cut off his former student, and sent Yuta to the floor, allowing Knight to fly over the head of Cassidy with a dive onto everyone on the floor.

Knight and Cassidy nipped up together in the ring, but Knight was pounced by Connors as he joked around with Cassidy that he had no pockets. Conners yelled “None of that!” when taking him down, so no nonsense from him. Knight and Mistico teamed up to allow Knight to hit a crossbody on everyone as David Finlay and Cassidy fought on the floor, and Roderick Strong took out Clark Connors. Mistico started punching Yuta in the corner as they went to an ad break. Strong hit 10 in the corner himself, and then Cassidy hit just one, and that was enough for him.

The Dogs came into the ring and attacked to save Yuta, and Finlay hit a senton on Strong, while Connors picked him up and hit a suplex. They began to isolate Strong here, getting the heat on him throughout the ad break. As they came back, there was a wild exchange, with tons of people hitting big moves, finally slowing down a bit when Yuta and Castagnoli sent Cassidy to the floor. Kevin Knight came in and hit a dropkick on both of them, and then Mistico hit a diving hurricanrana on Castagnoli before hitting a crazy headscissors, and then a hurricanrana on Castagnoli again, but this time to the floor.

Yuta hit Mistico with a forearm, but Mistico hit superkick on Yuta. Finlay cut him off, and Strong cut Finlay off with a backbreaker. Connors took out Strong, Cassidy took out Connors, Castagnoli took out Cassidy, Knight took out Castagnoli, and then Finlay took out Knight. Cassidy, Strong, and Mistico saved Knight from a pinfall. They then locked in Boston Crabs on everyone, but Castagnoli cut them all off, except Strong. Strong ate two kicks from Castagnoli, but fired up and then hit chops on Castagnoli.

Yuta hit a busaiku knee on Knight as Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong brawled with the Dogs all the way backstage. Mistico floated over a powerbomb attempt from Castagnoli into a sunset flip for a 2-count. Castagnoli tried to launch Yuta off the top rope into splash on Mistico, but Mistico dodged. Mistico hit La Mistica on Castagnoli and Kevin Knight hit the UFO Splash over them onto Wheeler Yuta for the pinfall win.

Result: Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Mistico, and Kevin Knight defeated The Dogs & Death Riders

This was a good episode of AEW Collision, featuring a good angle with Ospreay and Moxley, and a tremendous Moxley promo afterwards. Good wrestling on all the show, but the crowd was definitely tired after Dynamite, as this was taped last night. Still, some good build to next Wednesday, and for AEW Dynasty on Easter Weekend.

Monday Update

WWE Raw at MSG
WWE Raw at MSG

— Bryan and I will be back tonight talking Raw, John Cena, Tony Khan, Scott D’Amore and several other subjects with Wrestling Observer Radio tonight.

— Raw is tonight in Madison Square Garden. MSG is considered a special place in WWE and whenever they have Raw there they try and shoot a major angle. They had 16,443 tickets out earlier today so they don’t have the big stage and can probably get around 18,000 in so either a sellout (and it will be announced as such) or very close. Roman Reigns,CM Punk and Brock Lesnar are on the show meaning Oba Femi most likely as well. The Usos defend the tag titles against Logan Paul & Austin Theory in a street fight. Lash Legend & Nia Jax defend the tag titles against Bayley & Lyra Valkyria. Penta defends the IC title against Kofi Kingston and Iyo Sky faces Raquel Rodriguez. I would think they should be adding a few new matches to Mania this week.

— I have no idea why there is any controversy regarding John Cena as a guest host for WrestleMania this year. He made it very clear he wouldn’t wrestle, bugt would always have an affiliation with the company. The move was made because they are trying to boost ticket sales and there is nothing wrong with that. In recent days they’ve fallen even farther behind last year’s pace.

— The NXT show tomorrow at the Theater in Madison Square Garden has 2,280 tickets out.

— We are looking for reports from this past Friday night’s NXT show in Oklahoma City, results, finishes and highlights, to [email protected]

— Collision will air twice this week. The show is being taped Wednesday night in Winnipeg. It will air Thursday at 8 p.m. and again on Saturday night. TNT is listing a TBA at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night but it is scheduled as a Collision replay. There will be games through 11 p.m. that will have a gigantic viewership number. They are scheduled for a 30 minute post-game show and then Collision after that. The replay could do a very strong number, especially the first 30 minutes although it will tail off greatly from there.

— Penn State’s Mitchell Mesenbrink, a junior from Penn State who was the favorite to win the Hodge Trophy in 2026, did in the most dominant fashion in the history of the award. Mesenbring, who won the NCAA title on 3/31 at 165 pounds, was listed by 93.0 percent of those voting for first place after going 27-0 with 26 bonus point wins. Spencer Lee in 2020 got 91.2 percent of the first place votes. Kyle Dake in 2013 got 90.7 percent. The Hodge trophy is the college wrestling equivalent to the Heisman Trophy, named after Danny Hodge, one of America’s best real wrestlers of all-time as well as a Hall of Fame pro wrestler.

— Arena Mexico has its biggest Tuesday show in a while this week with four title matches. Averno defends the Historic light heavyweight title against Atlantis Jr. Mascara Dorada defends the Historic welterweight title against Yutani. Flip Gordon defends the Historic middleweight title against Volador Jr. And Magia Blanca defends the Mexican national welterweight title against Capitan Sucida. I expect some title changes because they are starting the Tournament of champions on Friday.

— Given the rating of 256,000 viewers with an 0.05 in 18-49, and the competition, Thursday’s TNA show did what I would call the most impressive rating of their short sting thus far on AMC. Competition included two NCAA basketball games, one of which drew 9.4 million viewers, as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers opening game on NBC, it was far harder competition than usual.

— Mike Santana vs. Eddie Edwards will be the TNA title match at Rebellion on 4/11 in Cleveland.

— Wrestle Pro has its tenth anniversary show on Saturday in Rahway,NJ at the Rec Center with Ricochet vs. Sidney Akeem, Anthony Bowens vs. Max Caster, plus the Gates of Agony,Lady Frost, Scotty 2 Hotty and Brian Myers are the show.

— Former NWA champion Ron Garvin turned 81 today. Mike Rotunda turned 68. Conrad Efraim/SD Jones was born on this day in 1945. (thanks to Tony Richrds)

— Defy and Dragon Gate are doing a joint show on 4/10 at the Hawthorne Theater in Portland, OR. Bryan Keith derends the Defy title against Susumu Yokouska. Marina Shafir defends her women’s titel against AMira. Steven Borden & Cody Chhun & Guillermo Rosas face MadoktaKikuta & Kai & Ishin, plus Dragon Kid, Yamato, Ho Ho Lun, Midnight Heat, Judas Icarus & Travis Williams, La Estrella, Kzy, Ben K and Adam Brooks are n the show.

— The New Japan Sakura Genesis show starts on Friday night at 1:40 a.m. (late Friday) Eastern and 10:40 p.m. Pacific. The opening match actually goes against the main event of Smackdown if you live on the West Coast. Sakura Genesis is from Sumo Hall in Tokyo and is a loaded show with Yota Tsuji vs. Callum Newman for the IWGP title, Oskar & Yuto-Ice defend the IWGP tag titles against Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa, Will Ospreay & Great O’Khan & Henare vs. Yuya Uemur & Taichi & El Desperado, Konosuke Takeshita defends the TV title against Shota Umino and Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi & Oleg Boltin defend the trios titles against Ren Narita & Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens.

Kyle Fletcher wearing walking boot following AEW Collision

Kyle Fletcher appears to be injured.

The TNT Champion wrestled on Saturday’s show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa teaming with Mark Davis to defeat Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier of The Rascals. Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Fletcher appears to have injured himself during the course of the match.

“Kyle Fletcher left the show tonight in a walking boot,” he wrote. “Whatever the injury is it’s legit. Hoping for the best.”

There was a spot during the match where Fletcher’s knee came into contact with the back of Davis as both fell, with Fletcher’s knee landing awkwardly on impact. Despite this, Fletcher completed the match, with Davis scoring the pinfall for his team.

Fletcher has been a prominent part of AEW television in recent months with a storyline focused on his friendship with Konosuke Takeshita, with fellow Don Callis Family member Kazuchika Okada looking to break up their friendship to spite Takeshita. On Collision, Okada told Fletcher that they were going to be champions again because he believed in Fletcher. The TNT Champion responded by once they took back the Trios titles, he was going to go after MJF.

AEW Collision notes: Next week’s show moved, Babes of Wrath

Notes from AEW Collision.

During Saturday’s show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa it was noted that next week’s Collision would air on a different day this coming week: Thursday at 8 pm ET, as NCAA basketball coverage is scheduled to take place during its normal timeslot. A replay of Thursday’s show, however, is scheduled to air on TNT at 11:30 ET that night.

In the opening match, the Babes of Wrath failed to win back the AEW Women’s Tag Team titles, losing to Divine Dominion after Harley Cameron took a double chokeslam. Later backstage, Cameron apologized for letting everyone down while Nightingale rejected the idea, choosing instead to reflect on all of their big moments as a team. When Cameron asked what they do now, Nightingale suggested focusing on other things. Cameron pushed Nightingale to focus on the TBS Championship and told her tag team partner she’d always be in her corner.

The two were the first-ever Women’s Tag Team Champions, having won them in a tournament final back in December. Although Nightingale successfully defended the TBS title against Lena Kross during Revolution’s Zero Hour pre-show, the Babes of Wrath lost the titles to Kross and Megan Bayne during the main card.

AEW Collision live results: Kazuchika Okada vs. Kevin Knight, Women’s Tag title bout

AEW Collision is live tonight from Alliant Energy Power House in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Three matches were announced ahead of time for the show.

Kazuchika Okada will defend the AEW International Championship against Kevin Knight. Knight defeated Okada in last year’s Continental Classic. They are 1-1 against each other in singles matches, as Okada defeated Knight on the May 7, 2025 AEW Dynamite.

An AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship match is also scheduled, with Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) defending against the former champions, Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron). Divine Dominion defeated Babes of Wrath for the titles two weeks ago at AEW Revolution.

In singles action, Tommaso Ciampa will face Ace Austin of the Bang Bang Gang. Ciampa is 4-2 in AEW singles matches since debuting in January. Austin is 1-4 in AEW singles matches since his debut in August.

Live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern.

**********

The Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron) vs. Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne & Lena Kross) for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship

Nightingale and Bayne started the match, attempted to overpower each other. Nightingale was knocked down with a shoulder tackle but cartwheeled out of an Irish whip into a back suplex on Bayne. That was a great spot. Cameron and Nightingale exchanged fast tags, switching up the offence a lot in the first few minutes of the match, including Cameron hitting a shining wizard and crossbody before tagging out. Nightingale was pulled from the ring and Kross hit an electric chair drop onto the apron on Nightingale.

Bayne went for a tope suicida to the floor, but got caught on the middle ropes and faceplanted on the floor. That had to suck. She recovered quickly and sent Nightingale into the guardrail and Kross continued to beat on Nightingale as they went to the ad break on TNT. Bayne and Kross kept the heat up for a bit, and every time Nightingale started to make her comeback, they beat her down more. Classic heat segment here, in that regard, including Nightingale following the Ricky Steamboat rule.

Nightingale ate a German suplex from Bayne and was attacked in the corner again, but ducked under a lariat from Kross, rolled to her corner, and tagged in Cameron, who hit a series of moves ending with a flying lariat on Kross, then locked on a half crab. Bayne broke it up, but Nightingale came in to cut Bayne off. The Babes of Wrath both tried crossbodies on their respective opponents, but Kross and Bayne caught them, slammed them into each other, and then hit fall away slams.

Nightingale tagged back in and began hitting a series of German suplexes on both women before being stopped by Kross. Kross missed a corner charge and hit a lariat that dropped Bayne on her head. That looked scary. Bayne has had two rough bumps in this match. Cameron tagged in and hopped on Nightingale’s back like a backpack and Nightingale hit a senton on Bayne for a 2-count. Bayne tried to hit a fallaway slam off the middle ropes, but Bayne was fighting it off. Kross came in to attempt to break it up, but Nightingale hit Kross with the pounce and Cameron hit the half crab. Cameron and Nightingale locked in stereo half crabs and it forced Bayne and Kross to the ropes.

Kross sent Nightingale into the ring post, and soon Cameron ate a running kick and German suplex combo before being hit with the Divine Intervention (an elevated double team spinebuster or bomb of sorts), for the pinfall.

Result: Divine Dominion defeated Babes of Wrath to retain

This was a very good tag match as Divine Dominion is put over strong.

–Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor were backstage, and talked about how Thekla seemed to have a lot unresolved aggression issues, as she used brass knuckles against Mina Shirakawa. Shirakawa then came on screen and admitted that she was going to do everything she could to get back to a title shot against Thekla, and she was going to find out who took out Toni Storm. Windsor and Hayter said they didn’t give a… well, a cuss word, who they had to fight. Shirakawa’s eyes went wide and looked shocked at this cussing. That was funny. Good promo from all 3 here.

Myron Reed (w/ Dezmond Xavier & Zachery Wentz) vs. Johnny TV (w/ Mansoor & Mason Madden)

Reed and TV exchanged some quick moves early on, countering each other by flipping back out of suplexes until TV could hit the Moonlight Drive, but Reed kicked out, hit an enziguri, and then a slingshot into a leg drop on TV. Reed hit a superkick but missed a springboard attack. TV hit a strange Alabama slam type move, but he flipped into it, and it almost looked liek he took a Canadian Destroyer. TV tried to hit Starship Pain, but Reed moved. Reed ducked under a lariat but falling backward and nipping up before hitting a cutter and then a springboard 450 splash for the win.

Result: Myron Reed defeated Johnny TV

This was about as perfect a short match you could get, with lots of action, and a showcase for Reed.

–The Death Riders were backstage, and Garcia was calling out Private Party, saying he has changed a lot since they started to take a year long vacation, and he was not the same wrestler he was when they last were with each other. Moxley said that Private Party walked the same, talked the same, and sure partied the same, but he wasn’t sure if they were ready to work, and that they would have to earn every single second of offence in their match, and they were swimming with real sharks tonight. Jon Moxley rules. That promo was so great.

–Private Party as backstage with Lexy Nair to respond, but the video feed cut out a little bit on MyAEW for a second, and we missed part of it as they talked about Garcia. That was ironic, given Moxley’s promo. They promised to bring their best to the fight.

The Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia) (w/ Claudio Castagnoli) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

As the Death Riders made their way to the ring, Garcia continued his promo against Private Party saying that something had to change for them and that tonight, he and Moxley were going to change them. As Private Party made their entrance, The Death Riders were doing pushups on the floor to warm up.

Garcia took down Kassidy and started wiping his feet in the direction of Kassidy, lightly kicking him in the process. Kassidy did not like this. Garcia ate two armdrags from Kassidy, but dodged the third and slapped Kassidy. Kassidy then got angry and started throwing punches, so Garcia chopped Kassidy in the throat and tagged in Moxley to a pop from the crowd.

Moxley tried to get the fight out of Kassidy, begging Kassidy to hit him. Moxley ate a few chops and a few forearms before dropping Kassidy with a forearm smash. Quen tagged in and attempted to use his own body as a launching pad for Kassidy to attack Moxley, but Moxley hopped over Quen and took out Kassidy with a lariat. Garcia then pulled Quen to the floor and threw him into the barricade, and the beatings truly began.

Garcia hit 9 punches in the corner and teased doing his dance, but didn’t and hopped down to boos from the crowd. As the referee was looking at Kassidy, Moxley came behind Quen and started choking him out with a rear naked choke, which popped the crowd. Garcia was screaming “Fight back! Fight back!” as they continued to beat on him. Quen managed to hit a spinning enziguri on Moxley before tagging out to Kassidy.

Kassidy ran wild, hitting a senton bomb on Garcia, referencing his mentorship from the Hardy Boys, for a 2-count. Kassidy hit a Canadian Destroyer off the ropes and then Private Party hit the Silly String on Moxley before hitting a double team cutter on Garcia, and Quen hit a top con giro on Moxley. Garcia got hit with a 450 splash from Kassidy, but Kassidy basically landed with his knees right on the chest of Garcia. Ouch. Garcia kicked out.

Garcia raked the eyes of Quen as he put Garcia up in the electric chair and Garcia sent Quen to the floor for Quen to get laid out by a huge European Uppercut from Claudio Castagnoli. Garcia tried for a Dragon Tamer, but Kassidy countered into a pinfall attempt. Garcia kicked out and hit a spike piledriver for a 2-count. Moxley then gave instructions for Garcia to finish the job, so he started throwing hammer fists on Kassidy before locking in the Dragon Tamer for the submission.

Result: The Death Riders defeated Private Party

This was an excellent match. Moxley and Garcia went out of their way to try and make Private Party look good, while still being firmly in control until the finish. This is why Jon Moxley is the ace of AEW. Excellent stuff.

–The Demand were backstage talking about Kenny Omega, and talking about Jack Perry. Ricochet had a theory that Kenny Omega used his power to get Ricochet in that battle royal where he lost his title to Jack Perry, but he promised he, Toa Liona, and Bishop Kaun were going to take them out before Omega even has a chance to get to MJF at Dynasty.

The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter) & Mina Shirakawa vs. Nixi Xs, Aminah Belmont, & Haven Harris

Windsor hit a lariat on Xs immediately while Shirakawa and Hayter took out Belmont and Harris. Hayter and Windsor hit the Two Birds, One Stone on Xs while Shirakawa locked on a figure four lock for the submission win.

Result: The Brawling Birds & Mina Shirakawa defeated Nixi Xs, Aminah Belmont, & Haven Harris

–After the match Windsor and Hayter assured Shirakawa that they were not the ones to attack Toni Storm, and said they had a common enemy in Thekla and the Sisters of Sin. Thekla came out through the crowd and said that none of them could handle Thekla, Blue, or Hart, and if they tried to fight them again, they would end up like Toni Storm. Shirakawa grabbed a mic and challenged them to a six-woman tag match.

–The Don Callis family were backstage with Lexy Nair, and Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis, and Kazuchika Okada were the ones there. Nair wanted to know about their attack on Darby Allin on Dynamite at MJF’s direction, and Fletcher reiterated that while he enjoyed Davis piledriving Allin in the ramp, but did not think they should be partnering with MJF, and instead trying to take the world title from him.

Okada said that he saw what Fletcher said with Takeshtia on Dynamite (making a fake teary face), but reminded Fletcher that they were the leaders of the Don Callis family, and they were going to be world champions again because Okada believed in Fletcher. Fletcher agreed, and said that after they were done with getting their trios titles back, and done with The Rascalz tonight, he was going to go after MJF. Excellent promo segment here that advances a few key stories for Fletcher, Okada, and Takeshita.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Ace Austin

This match had no story going into it, except that it would be a great match between a younger star and a great veteran like Tommaso Ciampa. There was a lot of back and forth action before they went to an ad break and came back as Austin hit a powerbomb on Ciampa. Austin and Ciampa tried to suplex each other multiple times but kept countering each other until Ciampa hit Project Ciampa for a 2-count.

Ciampa hit a running knee on Austin as he was on the apron, which gave Austin enough time to recover and hit a stomp to Ciampa. Ciampa manged to hit the Psycho Driver on Austin for a 2-count, and Ciampa started chopping him, but Austin fired up and hit chops of his own. Austin hit some short arm lariats and a spinning kick to Ciampa, who went limp. Austin deadlifted Ciampa and hit a Death Valley Driver into the corner before going for The Fold, but Ciampa hit a belly-to-belly suplex into the corner and hit the killshot running knee for the pinfall.

Result: Tommaso Ciampa defeated Ace Austin

–The Rascalz were backstage celebrating Myron Reed’s win and saying they were going to move up the ladder tonight when they beat The Don Callis Family. Dezmond Xavier struggled with basic math. That was funny.

–The Babes of Wrath were backstage, recovering well from their loss, insisting that they are still a tag team, but it might be time for them to focus on singles action for a bit, with Nightingale defending her TBS title. They will always have each other’s back, but for now, they are going to try going their own way. This was a decent way to move them away from the tag division for now, while having them remain as allies that are going to help each other as needed in their singles feuds.

Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) vs. The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Dezmond Xavier) (w/ Myron Reed)

Wentz hit a huge hurricanrana on Fletcher, who proved to be a good base for the smaller Wentz in the early part of this match. Xavier and Wentz exchanged a fast tag and a few double team moves on Fletcher. Davis tagged in but found himself on the other end of bronco buster soon thereafter. Davis cartwheeled out of an Irish whip to hit an enziguri on Xavier, and then hit a double team move where he fireman’s carried Xavier and launched him into a kick by Fletcher. Aussie Open proves they have not lost their tag team ability, as they used their superior size to dominate Wentz and Xavier as they went to break on TNT.

Wentz hit a blockbuster on Fletcher as they came back from break and Xavier tagged in and hit a Whisper in the Wind on Fletcher before hitting a superkick to the kneeling Davis. Xavier hit a handspring kick into Davis, but as both men got him, Davis hit a flying kick on Xavier and forearmed Wentz from the apron. Xavier hit a knee to Davis, but Davis responded with a dead lift piledriver for the pinfall. Seems like they got a little lost there at the end, but nonetheless, a decent tag match.

Result: Aussie Open defeated The Rascalz

–A promo from MLP/ROH Global War, with Ricochet and Don Callis aired, as he and Rich Swann won their match. Callis said that he would cut Ricochet into his MJF bounty money if he takes out Kenny Omega in the trios match on Dynamite with The Demand vs. Kenny Omega, Jack Perry, and Brody King.

–Kevin Knight was backstage with Lexy Nair, and he talked about how he was going to take advantage of this opportunity, noting that he beat Okada in the C2, and that he had MJF down for 13 seconds, even though the referee didn’t see it. Knight claimed he wasn’t being cocky, and he was going to keep proving he had Okada’s number. Great promo from Knight here.

–Jon Moxley and the Death Riders were backstage again, and Moxley noted that a lot of people were asking about Will Ospreay as if he should feel bad about what they did to him when he got injured. Moxley noted that no doctor would clear him, so they had an unsancationed cage match, and Moxley was not one to let someone off the hook from facing the consequences of their actions. He walked into the match with a broken neck, and Moxley made sure he faced that consequence, and when PAC faced him on Dynamite, the consequences would continue, as this was a cold game. Another phenomenal promo.

Kevin Knight vs. Kazuchika Okada for the AEW International Championship

Knight and Okada started slow, exchanging technical wrestling holds. Knight went for a baseball slide dropkick to the floor, but Okada ducked under, let Knight float over him, and then hit a DDT on Knight as he turned around. That was great. Okada sent Knight back into the ring and arrogantly kicked Knight, challenging him to stand up. Knight got angry, and Okada smiled, inviting him to chop him, and Knight complied. Okada ate the chops and followed up with some hard European uppercuts.

Knight bounced out of the corner with a lariat and then hit a flying lariat after leaping over Okada. Knight slammed Okada hit a standing UFO splash for a 2-count, and Okada rolled to the floor to get away. Knight then missed a pescado, but Knight adjusted in midair, landed on the apron, and followed Okada around as he walked away, hitting a pescado over the corner of the ring to the floor. Knight brought Okada back into the ring, and Nigel McGuinness noted that Okada usually let his opponents expend energy trying to use their best stuff on Okada, and when they are vulnerable, he pounces. Okada then hit a flapjack right after that as Knight hit the ropes, and as he wasn’t even breathing hard, he hit a DDT and flipped off the crowd.

Knight leapfrogged a Rainmaker attempt and then hit a dropkick on Okada, which was fantastic. Knight started stomping on Okada in the corner and Okada shoved Knight away, but Knight hit a series of lariats and countered a Rainmaker attempt with a DDT for a 2-count. Knight hit a giant springboard lariat to the floor on Okada. Knight hit a second springboard lariat on Okada when they came back into the ring for a incredibly close 2-count.

Knight put Okada on the top rope and Knight attempted a superplex, but Okada blocked it. Okada shoved Knight off the ropes, but Knight landed on his feet and did a vertical leap back onto the top rope before going for a top rope superplex, but Okada shoved him off again, and Knight did a back flip, landed on his feet, rolled backwards, and then ran and hit a leaping hurricanrana on Okada who was still on the top rope. That was awesome.

Knight then hit a coast to coast dropkick on Okada for another near fall. Okada immediately started selling his shoulder, as that took most of the damage from Knight. Knight went to teh top rope and Okada slowly tried rolling away, but Knight decided to go for it anyway, and jumped across the ring with a UFO splash, but Okada got the knees up and went for a Rainmaker, but Knight countered into a pinfall attempt for a 2-count. Knight did a second pinfall attempt, but Okada kicked out again. Knight tried to cradle Knight again, but Okada countered into a pinfall and held the ropes for leverage to finally pin Knight.

Result: Kazuchika Okada defeated Kevin Knight

What a fantastic finish, as the fans in the front row were screaming at the referee for missing Okada grabbing the ropes, and Bryce Remsburg looked shocked at their reaction, and screamed at even more as Okada’s hand was raised and Knight looked disappointed. That was real heat on Okada there, and Knight looked like an absolute star in losing. Excellent main event match with a good finish that actually put heat on the heel.

Final Thoughts

Not many of the matches were in doubt here tonight, but I admit that Knight and Okada got me to believe for a split second that Knight had it. Excellent main event on a good show, with some tremendous Jon Moxley promo work, and a fantastic main event that shows how good Okada is at making others look good. Knight absolutely held his own, and this match will help elevate him further if Tony Khan can capitalize on it. Knight looked totally at home in the main event, and I would argue this match was almost better than their C2 match (minus the incredible Okada dropkick spot on Knight when he went for the coast to coast in the first one). Highly recommend it. Knight and Okada have to wrestle again at some point in a rubber match. Excellent stuff.

Those whose are going through the AEW archives on HBO Max may have noticed the first year-plus of Collision is not avaiable.

That will change starting on Friday, April 24 as the first episode of Collision — starring the return of CM Punk — will make its way to the service, eventually followed by the rest of the series as they catch up to November 2024 which is currently the earliest episode they have.

As previously reported, last October’s WrestleDream will go up on Friday, April 17.
