AEW sends well wishes to Rebel during Collision

AEW took time on Saturday to wish Rebel well.

During Saturday’s Collision, Tony Schiavone on behalf of AEW wished Rebel the best after she announced on social media earlier this week that she had terminal ALS.

“We want Rebel to know you are a big part of AEW, we’re thinking about you right now, we are praying for you that you will pull through this,” he said.

Schiavone pointed out that many fans in attendance had brought signs in support of the AEW wrestler, best known for her association with Britt Baker in the early years of the company.

“Rebel, we hope you get better,” Schiavone concluded.

Health struggles over the years

Rebel has been struggling with health issues dating back to 2024. In February, she announced that she was in an inpatient rehablilitation program after being diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphona, a form of cancer that affects the lungs. She was set to undergo surgery when doctors discovered she had ALS.

“There is not a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have, but it explains why I have trouble walking and talking, and all my functions will soon decline. But now we can prepare for the future and what is to come,” she said. “And I wanna say thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of. And from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

“And thank you to all of you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I love you.“

– Tony Schiavone welcomed us to tonight’s live edtion of Collision as we got underway for our opening contest.

Ten-Man Tag Team Match: The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, PAC) & The Dogs (Clark Connors & David Finlay) vs. The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz, Dezmond Xavier, Myron Reed) & Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin)

We started fast and furious with both teams brawling at rinsgide. In side the ring, Castagnoli and Reed fought it out as the latter dove over the top to take out Castagnoli and PAC outside. The brawling ceased to stop at ringside as Connors and Wentz continued the battle in the ring. Wentz battered Connors in the corner with repeated strikes. Connors got the upper hand back by pushing Wentz into his corner as Finlay tagged in and showed some fury with the stomps on his foe. Wentz got out of it as Xavier and Reed showed some excellent double-team work against Finlay before Darius and PAC entered the match.

Moxley interjected with a clothesline on Darius before he officially tagged into the match. In the corner, Moxley punched at Darius as he then bit into his forehead. Darius answered back with some strikes to the face, followed by the dropkick that rocked Moxley. Dante tagged in as both Martin brothers kept Moxley on the backfoot with double team suplexes and splashes. Myron Reed tagged in and traded chops with Moxley in the middle of the ring. Reed tried to run at Moxley, but was sent flying to the outside, which allowed Marina Shafir to get in a cheapshot.

Things broke down between both teams again at ringside as they exchanged attacks that eliminated the playing field one by one. In the ring, Reed went for a dive, but Castagnoli intercepted with an anti-air uppercut as we took a picture-in-picture break.

We returned to full–screen action as Connors struck Reed in the back. Connors held his opponent by the leg to keep him at bay, but Reed kicked him away to briefly escaped. Finlay joined in on the attack of Reed as the Death Riders took out everyone on the other corner. Meanwhile, Reed dodged a clothesline and delivered a double cutter on both Dogs. Dezmond Xavier tagged in and took out Connors with an amazing handspring somersault kick for the near-fall. With Connors isolated, Wentz tagged in and superkicked him, followed by a dive from the middle rope that sent Connors’ back into the knees of Xavier.

The Dogs regained momentum as Finlay powerbombed Wentz, followed by a Connors spear. The Rascalz broke up the count and this match continued on. Wentz bounced off the ropes as he hit Connors with the knee to the face. With some space created, Wentz tagged in Darius as PAC entered for his team. PAC blocked Darius’ sunset flip attempt for a cover that didn’t work out. Darius tagged in and got PAC with a springboard leap. Top Flight showed some incredible teamwork with the kickj from Dante, followed by the slingshot DDT for the near-fall. Castagnoli tagged in and got the Martins with a double suplex. Castagnoli got Dante in the Giant Swing, which was punctuated by a Moxley dropkick.

The Rascalz and Top Flight connected with an amazing quad dropkick on Castagnoli, as things suddenly perked up and broke down with everyone in the ring. Finlay and Connors got hit with stereo Codebreakers, as Top Flight hit an assisted DDT on Moxley. Darius found himself trapped in the Death Riders conveyer belt attack, as PAC then finished it off with the Brutalizer submission hold.

The Death Riders & The Dogs def. Top Flight & The Rascalz via pinfall

A very hot opener once again as all ten men really got to show off their stuff here. I’m really liking what I’m seeing from the Rascalz as a trio and they looked really damn good here, even in defeat. Which is the beauty of how AEW functions. I think they do a great job in making wrestlers good even if they don’t end up on the winning side.

– A vignette of Luchasaurus and Jack Perry aboard the Jurassic Express bus was shown.

AEW National Championship: “Jungle” Jack Perry (c) vs. Mascara Dorada

Perry and Dorada shook hands to begin before the two engaged in some fast-paced chain wrestling that nobody got the advantage on. Perry grabbed at Dorada’s leg and then used some nice amateur wrestling-style headlocks, followed by a shoulder block. Perry leapfrogged over Dorada and used his legs to flip his foe over.

Perry Irish whipped Dorada, but was met with a mid-air tornillio-into-hurricanrana by the challenger. Perry grabbed a hold of Dorada’s hand and leapt from the top rope with a springboard armdrag. Dorada answered back with the same move to Perry. He then followed that up wiith a tornillo over the top rope an d down to the ground to take Perry down. The National Champion recovered, as he was thrown into the crowd by Dorada. Perry and Dorada fought on top of the barricade, but it was Dorada who got the best of his foe with a Destroyer on top of the barricade! This took us into the break.

We returned from the commercial break as Dorada scaled to the top and missed with a dive to Perry, who dodged it. Dorada and Perry traded superkicks until the National Champion hit a poisonrana. That didn’t seem to affect Dorada, who answered with a modified Code Red as both men were down. As both Perry and Dorada got to their feet, the masked challenger hit his foe with chops, but Perry connected with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall. Perry laid into the chest of Dorada with chops and punches in the corner.

Perry blocked an attempted dive from the apron with a punch to Dorada that sent him crashing to the ringside area. Perry then hit a moonsault from the top rope to a stunned Dorada. Back in the ring, Perry got a deadlift Liger Bomb on Dorada for a near-fall. In the corner, Perry punched at Dorada, but missed the last one, as Dorada tripped him up with a feint kick. Dorada then hit an amazing electric chair neckbreaker for a close near-fall. With Perry still trying to recover, Dorada tried to go to the top rope. However, he didn’t get far as Perry stopped him. Perry attempted a deadlift suplex, but got punched out. Dorada headed to the top rope and made no mistake with the 450 Splash. One, two… no!

Both Perry and Dorada were on the apron now as the National Champion countered a Destroyer attempt with a superkick. Another superkick by Perry allowed him to hit a hurricanrana. On the top rope, Perry’s diving attack was intercepted with a knee. Dorada then lifted him up for a modified facebuster for yet another near-fall. A frustrated Dorada headed up top again and went for a Shooting Star Press. Perry got the knees up to block it, however. Perry leapt up to Dorada perched on the top rope and got the win with an avalanche hurricanrana for the three to retain his National Title.

“Jungle” Jack Perry def. Mascara Dorada via pinfall to retain the AEW National Championship

Fantastic National Title match here. Perry has been great in this run, and Dorada looked quite great keeping up with Peryr.

– We got footage of what happened after Dynamite on Wednesday as Renee Paquette interviewed Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida. Statlander didn’t seem happy with Shida’s antics, stating that she had cost her everything. Shida said she was going to make it up to her, but Statlander wasn’t going to have any of it. Statlander stormed off angrily.

Trios: The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong) vs. MXM TV (Johnny TV, Mason Madden, & Mansoor)

O’Reilly and Mansoor started off. O’Reilly kicked Mansoor, which prompted him to tag Mason into the match. O’Reilly kicked Mason, as Johnny was then tagged in. O’Reilly had Johnnt in the corner and hit him with the ten-punches. Strong tagged in and added some punches of his own. Then it came time for Cassidy’s turn, and in true Orange Cassidy fashion, he tried to add a little flair to his punches. However, MXM took out O’Reilly and Strong on the aprong, which allowed Johnny to get the advantage on Cassidy.

Johnny leapt from the ring to take out both O’Reilly and Strong. It looked like Mansoor and Mason were gonna do the same, but they stopped to pose instead. Orange Cassidy snuck up to join him, but he got hit with the double team. Johnny hit Starship Pain on Cassidy, but O’Reilly and Strong broke it up. Mansoor looke dfor a dive, but he was left stunned on the apron. Strong lifted the massive Mason with a back suplex, as he then put Cassidy on his shoulders. Casssidy ducked Mason’s attack as he then grabbed Mansoor and pushed him to the outside. In the ring,. O’Reilly and Strong left Johnny out cold with a double team. Cassidy then hit a diving elbow for the three.

Tommasso Ciampa appeared after the match to taunt The Conglomeration trio as we were reminded that Dax Harwood faces Orange Cassidy in a Double Jeopardy match this Wednesday, where if Harwood wins, Ciampa and FTR get a Trios Title shot.

The Conglomeration def. MXM TV via pinfal

Just a short and sweet trios match here. This O’Reilly/Strong/Cassidy tag team is just great fun.

– We returned from commercial as Tony Schiavone gave his best wishes on behalf of the AEW family to “Rebel” Tanea Brooks, who recently announced a terminal diagnosis of ALS. We extend our best wishes to Tanea Brooks, who is loved dearly by the wrestling community.

– We got a recap of the Will Ospreay/Death Riders saga, particularly what happened in last week’s vignette, as well as what we saw this past Wednesday.

TBS Championship: Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Anna Jay

Jay attempted a side headlock takeover, but Nightingale blocked it, as the champion beckoned her foe to “show me your fire”. Jay responded in kind with a sunset flip for an early near-fall. Jay got the inside cradle pin, followed by a la magistral pin. Jay made a mistake in the corner, which allowed Nightingale to get the upper hand with blows, followed by the clothesline. Jay recovered and hit the flipping neckbreaker for the two-count.

With Nightingale in the corner, Jay hit her with kicks, followed by a snapmare and a running dropkick. Nightingale got sent out of the ring, but she tripped up Jay on the apron. Nightingale took her out with a cannonball dive as we took a break.

This match resumed as Nightingale hit a spinebuster on Jay for the near-fall. Nightingale missed with the splash in the corner, as Jay struck with a spinning kick to the face, followed by a bulldog for the two-count. Nightingale got Jay in the backslide pin, but that wasn’t enough. Nightingale put Jay on the top turnbuckle and looked like she was about to hit a massive superplex. She managed to hit it, followed by a Death Valley Driver for the near-fall as Jay kicked out. Jay hit a superkick on Nightingale, followed by an X-Factor, but that wasn’t enough to bring the TBS Title. Jay applied the Queenslayer submission on Nightingale, but the TBS Champion used her strength to muscle her way out of it. In the end, “The Comeback Killer” picked up the win with her patented Babe with the Powerbomb to retain her TBS Title.

Willow Nightingale def. Anna Jay via pinfall to retain the TBS Championship

This was a fantastic match. I enjoyed seeing Anna Jay back in action, and Nightingale’s run as “The Comeback Killer” is a nice wrinkle and opens up more possibilities for returning stars in the women’s division to step up to Nightingale. Personally, I’d love to see Nyla Rose as a challenger in Nightingale’s Comeback Killer run.

****************************************************

– Backstage, Renee Paquette was with Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, and Mina Shirakawa. Shida said that she made it up to Statlander by giving her a tag match against Cameron and Shirakawa. Statlander still didn’t seem happy with all of this as she walked away from the scene.

The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia) vs. The Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson & Ace Austin)

As always, Jon Moxley was on commentary to watch his two Death Rider allies in action.

Juice and Yuta started it off for their two teams, as Austin was taken out from the apron. Garcia struck Juice from behind, which allowed the Death Riders’ tandem to get the advantage with Austin still recovering in the BBG corner. Garcia taunted Juice with push-ups in the middle of the ring, as Yuta tagged in. Juice foiled the Garcia & Yuta double team attempt as Austin got the tag. Austin hit a leg drop on Garcia, but Yuta got him with a chop to the chest.

Austin responded iwth a leg sweep as he kipped back up. In the corner, Austin avoided a Yuta running attack and avoided the sweep from Garcia. Yuta took him pout from behind as Garcia and Marina Shafir attacked Austin two-on-one bheind the referee’s back. In the ring, Yuta hit Austin with a suplex for a two-count. Garcia tagged in and we took a commercial break a this point.

We returned from the break as Yuta and Garcia were taking it to Austin with the conveyer belt attack. Austin was then flattened by a double shotgun dropkick from the Death Riders. Garcia appplied the Peruvian Necktie submission hold, but Austin broke free from it. Garcia prevented Austin from getting to his corner momentarily. Garcia countered a sunset flip into a Dragon Tamer attempt, but that got turned into a Death Valley Driver from Austin. As both men were trying to recover, Austin got the hot tag to Juice, who was a big ball of energy as he took out Yuta and Garcia. Senton to the solar plexus of Yuta inside the ring, followed by the crossbody to Garcia outside the ring. Yuta engaged in a little friendly fire as Juice pushed Garcia in the way of a diving Yuta.

Back inside the ring, Juice hyped himself up and stung like a butterfly against Yuta. Marina Shafir got on the apron to cause a distraction, but Yuta rolled him up. Juice kicked out, as Yuta accidentally hit Shafir on the apron. Ace Austin was thrown over the top rope by Garcia. A bloodied Yuta sent Juice into a piledriver, followed by the Fastball Special dive. One, two… 2.999999999!!!!!!!!!!!! Yuta missed with the Busaiku Knee, but Austin joined in and got dropped with a Samoan Drop. Juice got the punch on Yuta, followed by the finishing DDT to pick up tghe win for the Bang Bang Gang.

After the match, Juice motioned at Jon Moxley on commentary and looked like he wanted a shot at Mox’s AEW Continental Title. Garcia attacked Juice from behind, as Yuta took it to Austin. The Death Riders’ attack was cut short by the return of Colten and Austin Gunn. It was “Gunns Up” as they took out Yuta with 3:10 to Yuma after just missing out on finishing Moxley off.

The Gunns declared that “The Collision Cowboys were back”, and that they only had two words for those that weren’t down with that: “Gunns Up!”

Bang Bang Gang def. The Death Riders via pinfall

This was a surprisingly great match. Seeing Juice Robinson get the win here was really nice, and even better was the return of Colten and Austin Gunn, which brings the Bang Bang Gang to almost full strength. That was a great moment.

****************************************************

– Divine Dominion was interviewed, as they declared that the only hope that the Women’s Division had was if God struck down the both of them. Otherwise, they should just stop trying to beat them.

Skye Blue vs. Nixi XS

Skye flattened Nixi with a charging big boot to start. She then threw her onto the apron. Skye sent Nixi down to the floor with another big boot. Outside the ring, Skye smashed Nixi’s face onto the steel steps, as she then followed that with an elevated facebuster from the apron to the floor. Skye threw Nixi back into the ring and got to the top rope. Nixi tried to intercept her, but instead, she was caught in an uncompromising position iwth the Cheeky Nandos kick from Skye, followed by the powerbomb. Knee to the face, but Skye broke up her own count. Skye then applied the “Descent Into Madness” sleeper to pick up the win.

Skye Blue def. Nixi XS via pinfall

A bit on the short side, but in terms of building Skye up for a future title opportunity — be it for the TBS or AEW Women’s World Title, this wasn’t a bad call at all. Also nice to see Nixi XS here in this match a couple of weeks after I got a chance to see her in action in the Immortal Clusterf—.

This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite/Collision:

  • AEW Men’s World Championship: Darby Allin (c) vs. Kevin Knight
  • Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander vs. Harley Cameron & Mina Shirakawa
  • Double Jeopardy: Orange Cassidy vs. Dax Harwood
  • AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match: Jon Moxley vs. Juice Robinson

Next Week on Collision: Fairway to Hell

  • AEW National Championship: “Jungle” Jack Perry (c) vs. Mark Davis

TNT Championship Match: Kevin Knight (c) vs. HOOK (w/ Katsuyori Shibata)

HOOK attempted a suplex on Knight, but couldn’t capitalize. He did manage to get a takedown on Knight, which prompted the TNT Champion to ask if Shibata taught HOOK that move. Knight and HOOK locked it up with the collar and elbow tie up, until they traded standing siwtches. Knight turned it into a hammerlock, but HOOK threw himover head with a judo flip. HOOK and Knight landed on their feet after taking their respective armdrags. HOOK retreated to his corner and got some adivce from Shibata before re-entering the fight.

In the corner, Knight blasted HOOK with punches to the chest, followed by the uppercut. HOOK responded with some clubbing strikes off his own, which let Knight gasping for air. HOOK took a run at Knight, but got sent out of the ring by Knight. HOOK avoided a dive from Knight by just stepping out of the way. Shibata provided a distraction, which allowed HOOK to throw Knight into the stands with an exploder suplex after catching an attempted diving attack and we took a break here.

Our main event on Collision returned from the break as HOOK got the near-fall with a bridging Northern Lights suplex to counter Knight’s DDT. Knight shellacked HOOK with an acrobatic lariat, followed by the scoop slam and a running frog splash-type maneuver for a near-fall of his own. Both men got bakc to their feet as HOOK blocked a Knight DDT attempt before he found himself in the corner. Knight spilled HOOK over the top rope with a tijaras takeover, followed by the running dropkick into the corner. Knight climed up to the top, but Shibata got on the apron and smashed the ropes to trip up Knight in revenge for using the dropkick of his. HOOK capitalized with an avalanche exploder suplex, followed by another suplex on the floor for the near-fall. The ten minute warning was announced at this point.

HOOK beckoned Knight to get up as he looked to go in for the kill. He applied the Redrum, but Knight reversed it into a pin. Another attempt at a pin, but Knight punched Shibata out after HOOK kicked out. HOOK attempted another exploder suplex, but Knight landed on his feet, as he then made no mistake with the DDT. Knight then headed up top and hit the UFO Splash. One, two, three, and that’s it, over. Kevin Knight retains the TNT Championship.

This week’s episode of Collision wrapped with Knight celebrating his win as the matches for this week’s combined Dynamite & Collision were highlighted.

Kevin Knight def. HOOK via pinfall to retain the TNT Championship

****************************************************

A heck of a main event, which I thought was HOOK’s best match to date. Kevin Knight continues to be a standout star in recent months, and this match was no exception as he’s taken it to another level. The match for the AEW Title against Darby Allin this coming Wednesday should be a great one.,

As far as the rest of this live Collision is concerned, the non-stop action is arguably it’s biggest strength. The matches tend to be really good and never overstay their welcome. It’s what honestly makes this show so appealing to watch week in and week out, even if you’re not fully abreast with AEW’s storylines.

The multi-man matches were a huge standout for me this week, but for my money, my favorite match of the night has to go to the Jack Perry vs. Mascara Dorada match. But really, you can’t go wrong with any of the matches on this week’s show for something that you’ll want to check out if you’re in the need for some high-octane wrestling action.

Anna Jay’s return, three title matches part of AEW Collision lineup

After being out since last November, Anna Jay is making her return to AEW this Saturday and already has a title match set.

Jay will challenge reigning TNT Champion Willow Nightingale in Peoria, Illinois, as Nightingale continues to welcome back those who had been off TV for quite some time (Hikaru Shida, Kamille, Queen Aminata).

The two have shared the ring ten times in AEW with their last singles bout coming in November 2022. It’s unclear if Jay has signed a new deal with AEW as previous reporting had her deal up in the spring.

Jack Perry will defend the AEW National title against Mascara Dorada for the first time ever.

After defending against MJF on Wednesday’s Dynamite, Kevin Knight will put the title on the line against Hook in another first time ever match.

In a ten-man tag, The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, PAC and Claudio Castagnoli will team up once again with The Dogs’ David Finlay and Clark Connors against The Rascalz and Top Flight.

The Death Riders’ Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia against the Bang Bang Gang of Juice Robinson and Ace Austin rounds out the card.

New member of The Opps revealed on AEW Collision Playoff Palooza

A new member of The Opps has officially been revealed.

On Collision, Samoa Joe met up with Hook following his return and asked what had been going on. Hook said he had been looking for new members to recruit. The two were confronted by Anthony Bowens, who said he wanted to know if he was in or not. Samoa Joe said that there were no more vacancies in the Opps, but then told Bowens they found their newest member. Hook told Bowens that he had passed the test, officially welcoming him into The Opps.

Joe returned from injury on Wednesday, defeating Cody Chhun in under three minutes. Shortly after losing the Trios titles in January, AEW announced that Samoa Joe was not cleared to compete. It was later reported that he was in concussion protocol.

In the weeks following Joe’s injury, Hook said that was put in charge of finding new members of the Opps. One person seemed interested: Anthony Bowens, who last seen forming an unreluctant tag team with former partner Max Caster. Hook seemed to stall on the idea of letting Bowens into the group until Joe’s return this week.

New stipulation added to Tag Team title match at AEW Double or Nothing

A new stipulation has been added to the upcoming Tag Team title match at Double or Nothing.

FTR came out to open this week’s Collision to respond to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage’s challenge for Double or Nothing, where the two teams would face off in a New York Street Fight. Copeland said in his challenge that if he and Cage lose, they would never team again.

Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler accepted the challenge on Collision. However, Dax also asked to add another stiupation: an I Quit match so there would be no more questions about who the better team is. Dax ended the promo by saying after Double or Nothing, the two could continue their nostalgia act while FTR will remain the greatest team of all time.

After defeating FTR at All Out last year, Cope & Cage took a break, returning earlier this month to challenge them for the Tag Team titles at Dynasty. They were unsuccessful on that night, with FTR scoring the win to even the odds between the two teams.

AEW Double or Nothing (May 24)

  • International title: Kazuchika Okada defends against Konosuke Takeshita
  • New York Street Fight I Quit match for AEW Tag Team titles: FTR defends against Adam Copeland & Christian Cage

AEW Collision live results: Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate vs. The Demand

AEW Collision is tonight.

This week’s show was taped last Wednesday in Portland. Chris Jericho will team with The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin against The Demand. The AEW World Trios titles will also be on the line when The Conglomeration defends against The Don Callis Family.

The full lineup is below:

  • Thekla & Skye Blue vs. Persephone & Alex Windsor
  • Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley) vs. The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun)
  • AEW Trios Champions The Conglomeration (Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong & Orange Cassidy) defend against The Don Callis Family (Andrade El Idolo, Lance Archer & Hechicero)
  • AEW National Champion Jack Perry defends against El Clon
  • The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) and The Rascalz (Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz & Dezmond Xavier) vs. The Dogs (David Finlay & Clark Connors) & The Death Riders (Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli)
  • Kris Statlander vs. TBA

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern.

*****************************************

– It’s Saturday night and you know what that means. We kicked off with Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Orange Cassidy backstage. O’Reilly said that tonight was a good night to defend the AEW Trios Titles. FTR and Stokely Hathaway interrupted the Conglomeration’s gathering. Hathaway said that O’Reilly, Strong, and Cassidy would lose their Trios Titles to the Don Callis Family’s Andrade, Lance Archer, and Hechicero.

FTR kicks off Playoff Palooza Collision

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood kicked off the show, as they address Adam Copeland’s stipulation of him and Christian Cage retiring if they lost to FTR one more time. Wheeler said they accepted Copeland’s stipulation, as Harwood laid a “cold, hard truth” on Cope and Christian: nobody wanted them there. Harwood claimed that the wrestlers, the fans, and anyone associated with AEW did not want Copeland and Christian here.

Harwood said that the New York Street Fight sounded like a great idea, but he wanted there to be no more questions, no more debates… as he suggested an “I Quit” stipulation to be added. After Copeland and Christian were done, they could continue on with their nostalgia run, while FTR would continue to be the greatest tag team of all time.

I know this Copeland/Christian vs. FTR feud isn’t for everyone and both teams aren’t exactly favorites of AEW fans, but this New York Street Fight I Quit Match for Double or Nothing should be entertaining.

AEW Trios Championships: The Conglomeration (Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, Orange Cassidy) vs. The Don Callis Family (Hechicero, Lance Archer, Andrade El Idolo)

As The Conglomeration made their way to this opening bout, they got into a confrontation with the departing FTR, which ended with Harwood and Wheeler getting shoved down.

O’Reilly and Hechicero kicked things off for this match, as we got a showdown between the two technically-sound wrestlers. O’Reilly transitioned from an armdrag into a side headlock, but Hechicero responded with a knee to the gut before he held O’Reilly from the apron. A rope-assisted Dragon Screw by Hechicero allowed for a brief advantage. However, O’Reilly kicked his foe in the chest and tagged in Strong. Some undisputed teamwork between O’Reilly and Strong before Orange Cassidy hit a incredibly violent elbow to a prone Hechicero. Lance Archer tagged in for his team and got into Cassidy’s face. Cassidy brushed him off and tagged Strong.

Archer took Strong down with a huge shoulder block as Andrade and Cassidy tagged in for their respective teams. Cassidy tried to put his hands in his pocket, but Andrade stopped him and tried to take off his pants. Cassidy hit Andrade with his kicks before he removed Andrade’s belt from his waist. Cassidy then stripped Andrade of his pants as he hit him with a dropkick. O’Reilly re-entered the match and teed off on Andrade with punches to the face in the corner as Strong and Cassidy followed suit with the ten-punches — or in Cassidy’s case, a single punch.

Outside the ring, O’Reilly tried to kick Andrade, but he got hit with a hard clothesline from Archer. On the other side, Strong was pulled out by Hechicero and got slammed across the announce table. This took us to the picture-in-picture break.

We returned from the break as the Don Callis Family had control of the match as Cassidy was isolated. Cassidy tried to fight out of it as he hit a double hurricanrana on Andrade and Hechicero. Cassidy tried to reach out to his corner, but Lance Archer intercepted him. Archer was deposited out of the ring as Cassidy tagged in O’Reilly. The Canadian buzzaw teed off with kicks to Andrade before Hechicero tried to get ahead of things. Blind tag by Strong allowed these undisputed partners to show some great teamwork against Hechicero and Andrade on opposite corners. Strong then grabbed Cassidy and used him as a makeshift battering ram against Andrade and Hechicero.

Strong picked up Hechicero with a back suplex for a near-fall. Andrade tagged in as it was time for him and Hechicero got their chance to take it to the Conglomeration’s duo. Running meteora from Andrade on O’Reilly nearly won it for him. Andrade then hit O’Reilly with the two of the Three Amigos, but Kyle escaped and tagged Cassidy into the match. Cassidy hit a variation of the Stundog Millionaire on Andrade as Archer made an impact with a huge body press on Cassidy. He then threw O’Reilly on top of Strong.

Cassidy avoided a Blackout from Archer, but found himself sucked into a Black Hole Slam for the near-fall. O’Reilly and Strong were caught in a double chokeslam position, but Cassidy held Archer by the throat, as he got hit with an Orange Punch. Another Orange Punch from Cassidy, followed by Total Elimination from O’Reilly and Strong on Archer. Strong then threw Cassidy onto the downed Archer to help the Conglomeration pick up the victory here.

The Conglomeration def. The Don Callis Family via pinfall to retain the AEW Trios Championships

I loved this opening match a lot. The Conglomeration’s trio of O’Reilly, Strong, and Cassidy is a fun dynamic and if it leads to these kinds of matches on the regular, I’m definitely all for it. A great way to start off Playoff Palooza.

– We got footage of what happened after The Death Riders took off with Will Ospreay on Dynamite this past Wednesday. Jon Moxley asked Ospreay what it was he was trying to accomplish other trying to break his next. Moxley wondered what Ospreay exactly was chasing, claiming that he didn’t know what thos answers were anymore. Mox stated that Ospreay’s body will break down eventually, but once he realized that there was a door beside that wall, he could walk through and become whatever he wants to be. Moxley said he and the Death Riders can turn Ospreay into a “weapon” that professional wrestling has never seen. He could either be just like everyone, or everything you were meant to be.

Moxley lied down on the floor and gave Ospreay a chair. Ospreay told the cameraman to leave and we didn’t get a chance to see if Ospreay took up Moxley on his offer.

Ten-Man Tag Match: The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia) & The Dogs (David Finlay & Clark Connors) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & The Rascalz (Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz, & Dezmond Xavier)

Jon Moxley joined commentary and was asked about what happened between him and Will Ospreay after the cameras stopped last week. Moxley stated that what’s next is up to Ospreay himself and that we’d hear from him soon enough.

Yuta and Xavier opened the match, but Connors and Finlay attacked as things soon turned into a full brawl between two teams. The Death Riders and The Dogs got in their conveyer belt attack in the corner on Xavier, as Nick Jackson trie dto make the save. He found himelself of his opponent’s attack. Reed and Wentz got ahead of things and used their speedy teamwork to take out Garcia. The combined forces of the Bucks and the Rascalz was on full display against Castagnoli, as we saw some high-flying action outside the ring. In the ring, Wentz tried to leap at Castagnoli, but he was locked into a Sharpshooter. Garcia had Reed in the Dragon Tamer, as the Bucks locked in Connors and FInlay in Sharpshooters of their own.

Fast-paced action here as Castagnoli took down the Bucks with a clothesline on the both of them. Xavier responded with a rolling thunder kick that sent his opponent out of the ring. Xavier tried to go up top, but Yuta tripped him up as he hit a standing vertical suplex. We took a break in the action as the Death Riders and the Dogs were in control of things.

We returned to this ten-man tag as Wentz came into the match and unleashed an offensive flurry against Garcia. German suplex from Wentz to Garcia left his foe down and out. Blind tag from Reed as he hit Wheeler Yuta with a superkick. Wentz and Reed flattened Yuta with a double team neckbreaker. Clark Connors broke up the subsequent count.

Yuta responded with a German suplex attempt, but Reed landed on his feet and hit a leaping cutter on him. Connors tagged in for his team, while Nick Jackson entered. Nick hit an incredible leaping armdrag on both Connors and Finlay. Matt Jackson joined in and went on a Northern Lights Suplex spree until Castagnoli struck him with a lariat. The Bucks hit double superkicks on Castaganoli as Connors fell victim to a unique sunset flip powerbomb combination from the Young Bucks. The Rascalz and the Bucks then hit Connors with a quintuple superkick. Even more high-flying action as Connors was battered over and over witrh diving splashes from the Bucks and the Rascalz. Castagnoli caught a diving Dezmond Xacier and took him for a ride with the Swing.

The Bucks hit Castagnoli and Yuta with stereo bulldogs as David Finlay avoided the BTE Trigger. On the aprong, Castagnoli threw Matt onto Nick outside the ring. Myron Reed hit an incredible leaping cutter on Castagnoli to the outside, as Dezmond Xavier took everyone out with a massive dive. Inside the ring, Wentz was the legal man as he hit Finlay with a cutter. Wheeler Yuta intervened, which allowed Connors and Finlay to hit their double-team spear/suplex combo to pick up the win.

The Death Riders & The Dogs def. The Young Bucks & The Rascalz via pinfall

These multi-man tag matches in AEW end up being really fun sprints, and this one was no exception. Just a great match from start to finish.

*****************************************

– Backstage, Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida, and Harley Cameron, Mina Shirakawa were interviewed. Cameron took exception to comments that Shida made about her. Shirakawa wanted Shida to apologize, but Shida insulted Cameron to her face as she said that her and Statlander would defeat The Divine Dominion for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships. The implication here was that Shirakawa and Cameron appeared to understand that Shida was insulting them in Japanese.

Kris Statlander vs. B3CCA

B3CCA started off on the attack as Statlander was on the backfoot early. However, the former AEW Women’s World Champion fought back and tossed B3CCA into the corner. B3CCA kicked Statlander from the apron as she hit a diving dropkick on her afterwards.

Statlander quickly recovered and grabbed B3CCA from the ring but couldn’t hit the Staturday Night Fever. B3CCA applied a headscissors, but that got turned into the Staturday Night Fever for the victory.

Kris Statlander def. B3CCA via pinfall

A quick match, but B3CCA gave as good as she got here and managed to look good in such a short amount of time.

*****************************************

– Backstage, Lena Kross and Megan Bayne were interviewed about the Statlander/Shida challenge for their AEW Women’s Tag Titles. The Divine Dominion said that there was no women in this “godforsaken realm” that looked like they did or dominated like they did. This wasn’t a challenge, this was fate.

RUSH vs. Adam Priest

Priest offered a handshake, but RUSH would not accept. We got some chain wrestling to start as Priest mocked RUSH’s horns taunt and beckoned him to chop him. RUSH obliged and got met with a chop from Priest. We then got a duel of chops between these two combatants. Priest intercepted RUSH with a dropkick, who responded with a couple of chops, followed by an elbow to the jaw. With Priest in the corner, RUSH continued the assault with elbows and headbutts to his prone opponent. RUSH looked to give Priest “The Horns”, but he stopped short and kicked him instead. RUSH did the Tranquilo pose in the middle of the ring as we took a break.

This match returned from break as Priest headed to the top rope and hit a legdrop on RUSH for the near-fall. Priest tried to run at RUSH, but got sent for a ride with a German Suplex. With Priest out of the ring, he got thrown into the barricade repeatedly by RUSH. Priest was stomped on again and again before RUSH sent him backinto the ring. In the corner, RUSH continued the stomps on Priest as he got ready and gave him a taste of “The Horns” with the running dropkick. The cover, and that’s it, over.

After the match, he took the mic and reminded everyone that if you messed with the bull, you get the horns.

RUSH def. Adam Priest via pinfall

I enjoyed this match greatly, but I thought it kind of ended abruptly. That said, Priest was fantastic and kept up with RUSH rather nicely. The beauty of AEW is that “looking strong in defeat” is something that’s very much true in spades. It certainly applies to Adam Priest here.

– We got remarks from Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada following Wednesday’s Dynamite as the two traded words about their upcoming AEW Continental Title match at Double or Nothing.

Skye Blue & Thekla vs. Persephone & Alex Windsor

Windsor and Skye opened the match as the hard-hitting Brit gave as good as she got with the shots to the face. Skye responded with some strikes of her own as the action was hard-hitting to kick us off. Skye chopped at Windsor, who responded with a hard lariat. Thekla snuck in with a cheapshot behind on Windsor. Persephone hit a backbreaker on Thekla as she and Windsor battered Skye with chops a-plenty in their corner. Thekla tried to intervene, but was dispatched while Skye was smashed with a dropkick from Persephone.

Windsor continued the punishment until Thekla pulled at her legs, which allowed Skye to strike with a shot to the back. Thekla then attacked with a diving stomp to the back of Windsor as we took a timeout here.

We returned from commercial as Skye threw Windsor into her corner as Thekla used her legs to hold Windsor in place, allowing Skye to hit with a running strike for the two-count. Windsor quickly recovered and hit a fierce running lariat on Skye, which allowed her to tag in Persephone, as Thekla entered for her team .

Persephone caught Thekla’s leg and hoisted her up for a nice fallaway slam. Persephone lifted Thekla up for a brainbuster, but couldn’t connect. Skye Blue joined in as Windsor was tagged into the match. Windsor got both Skye and Thekla with a double clothesline, as Persephone took flight with a crossbody on the two. Windsor worked over Skye with a chop to the chest, but got hit with the superkick, as her attempt at Code Blue was stopped by Persephone. Thekla speared Persephone, but got cracked by Thekla. Persephone tagged in and missed with a running attack in the corner, but she made no mistake on the bridging German suplex. Thekla broke up the count as she and Windsor fought on the outside.

In the ring, Persephone took Skye down with a shotgun dropkick from the top rope. Persephone set Skye up for her finisher, but Thekla provided a distraction as Julia Hart emerged and spat the black mist in Persephone’s face. Skye took advantage and hit Code Blue on Persephone for the three.

Skye Blue & Thekla def. Persephone & Alex Windsor via pinfall

This was a good women’s tag match here, and it was nice to see Skye Blue pick up the win for her team, which is a nice change of pace on things.

– A video on Kevin Knight and MJF’s upcoming TNT Championship match on Dynamite this week was shown.

AEW National Championship: “Jungle” Jack Perry (c) vs. El Clon

Perry posed to the crowd as Clon responded with a taunt of his own before this match started proper with some chain wrestling. Clon got hit with a monkey flip by Perry, who followed that up with dropkicks. A dive to the outside by Perry was intercepted by a nonchalant kick to the face from Clon. Perry was trapped beneath the ring apron by Clon, who removed the cover on his mask. Clon stomped on Perry’s head while it was draped on the top of the steel steps. Perry responded with a ringpost-assisted feint kick on the prone Clon.

Back in the ring, Perry got the sitout powerbomb on Clon for the near-fall. Clon countered a Perry suplex attempt and threw him into the ropes. Clon then followed that up with the running lariat as this match took a commercial break.

This AEW National Championship match continued from the break as Clon and Perry traded chops in the middle of the ring, until Clon hit a nice kicking combination to gain the advantage. Perry responded with the turnbuckle-assisted bulldog for a very close near-fall. Clon reversed a suplex from Perry as he hit a standing scorpion kick. Clon’s subsequent move was countered into a Destroyer from Perry for a near-fall. Perry’s running knee was intercepted by Clon, who pounced with the elevated knee for the 2.9999999 pinfall attempt. Clon appeared to be doing Perry’s own knee strike, but the National Champion got out of the way. Clon countered with the spinning backbreaker, followed by a unique variation of Made in Japan for another near-fall.

Clon looked like he was going to hit the moonsault from the ropes, but Perry countered that into a German suplex. However, Clon landed on his feet, so Perry finished him off with the running Jungle knee to retain the National Championship.

“Jungle” Jack Perry def. El Clon via pinfall to retain the AEW National Championship

Just a fun title bout here. I find myself really enjoying El Clon in the matches I’ve seen of him on AEW programming, and he continues to be quite impressive. This was another fantastic outing for El Clon and he looked quite good matching Jack Perry move for move.

– We got remarks from TBS Champion Willow Nightingale, as she stated that she was ready to take on whoever was next to step up to her.

– Samoa Joe was talking with HOOK, who was stating that he was out recruiting for The Opps, when Anthony Bowens confronted them. Bowens was wondering what the decision was regarding his membership in The Opps. Joe remarked that there were no more vacancies in The Opps as he appeared to welcome Bowens into the group.

Trios Tag Match: The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona) vs. Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin)

Jericho played to the crowd as the match officially got underway with Ricochet on the opposite corner. Ricochet backed out and tagged Kaun as the sides even out with all six men in the ring facing off. Soon enough, it turned into a full-blown hockey fight, fitting for Playoff Palooza. Jericho mixed it up with Ricochet while Kaun and Lashley fought and Benjamin and Liona brawled. The Hurt Syndicate went to work inside the ring as they held the upper hand on Liona and Kaun. Benjamin dropped Liona with a DDT. Jericho took to the top rope and hit a diving splash on all three members of The Demand outside the ring. We took our final commercial break at this point.

Playoff Palooza’s main event returned from break as Ricochet had Jericho in a resthold in the middle of the ring. Jericho got out of it and chopped at Ricochet’s chest. With shots to the back and a flip of the bird to the Hurt Syndicate, Ricochet tried get the upper hand, but got flipped on his back by Jericho. Kaun failed to prevent Jericho tagging in Bobby Lashley, who was used his raw strength to go to town on Ricochet and Kaun. Lashley hit an elevated spinning DDT on Lashley, but Liona broke up the count. Benjamin hit a series of German suplexes on Kaun, as he then took out Liona with a running knee. Benjamin then hit one for a diving Ricochet. Jericho tagged in and had the Walls of Jericho locked in on Ricochet before Liona ran in.

Liona was stuck in the Walls, but Ricochet broke it up. Lashley entered and got tripped up outside by Liona, who hit a Samoan Drop on the outside. Back in the ring, Jericho punched at Ricochet on the top rope and hit an avalanche hurricanrana. Bishop Kaun took out Jericho, but was hit with the avalanche suplex from Benjamin. Lashley hit Liona with the Spear as Ricochet was felled by a Codebreaker from Jericho. Somehow, Ricochet kicked out at two after all this. Ricochet attempted a backslide pin on Jericho, but that was for naught. All six men were in the ring now as Liona missed with a diving attack on Jericho. Roll-up attempt was turned into the Walls of Jericho on Ricochet. Liona helped Ricochet the hold. In the chaos, Ricochet nailed a low-blow on Jericho behind the referee’s back before hitting the “Ricosault” for the pin and win in our main event.

The Demand def. Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate via pinfall

That was a decent and fun main event to cap off Playoff Palooza. I’ll admit that this was just there for me, but the crowd helped make the match enjoyable in a sense. I do find the angle of Jericho losing his matches since his return to be an interesting arc if they keep with it.

As for the rest of Collision, we got some really good matches before our main event, with the ten-man tag, the trios title, and Priest vs. RUSH being the standouts for me. The vignette with Ospreay and the Death Riders was a nice aftermath to what happened on Dynamite and I’ll be interested to see where it goes from there.

Overall, Playoff Palooza Collision was a solid night of action, and consistent with AEW’s Saturday show being an enjoyable two-hour watch week in and week out.

Chris Jericho to team with MVP’s Hurt Syndicate on AEW Collision, full lineup revealed

In a past time, it would have seemed impossible for Chris Jericho and MVP to be aligned on anything after reports of a fight in 2022 when both men were in different companies.

Flash forward to 2026 and the two will be working together as Jericho will team up with MVP’s Hurt Syndicate on this Saturday’s Playoff Palozza edition of AEW Collision in a trios match against The Demand.

The match was made on Wednesday’s Dynamite after Ricochet continued to mock Jericho and the fact he burned all his bridges so he has no friends, noting “no one wants to be associated with the guy who gets his ass kicked by The Demand.” Jericho said he doesn’t have to find partners who like him to team with — just two who don’t like Ricochet.

Later in the show, Renee Paquette caught up with Jericho who said he found some partners, leading to MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley coming out of his locker room. MVP and Jericho looked at each other with MVP saying, “It’s never personal. It’s just business.” The Hurt Syndicate and the Gates of Agony have feuded in the past.

Benjamin, Lashley and MVP returned to Collision last week after three months away (four months in Lashley’s case) to pick up a squash win.

MVP reportedly knocked Jericho out during the 2020 Jericho Cruise followed by the aforementioned 2022 skirmish. It was reported they cleared the air in 2024 after MVP signed with AEW.

The show will also feature two title matches as AEW Trios Champions The Conglomeration (Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong & Orange Cassidy) defend against Andrade El Idolo, Lance Archer & Hechicero of the Don Callis Family while AEW National Champion Jack Perry defends against El Clon, also of the Don Callis Family.

In a unique ten-man coming out of last week’s events, The Young Bucks and The Rascalz will take on The Dogs and The Death Riders.

AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla will team with Skye Blue against CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone and Alex Windsor after the latter formed a union backstage, while Kris Statlander will also be in action.

The show will be taped Wednesday after Dynamite in Portland, Oregon.

**********************************

Tony Schiavone welcomes us to the show and we hear Adam Copeland’s music in the arena to kick off the broadcast.

Adam Copeland in-ring promo segment

Copeland walks out with a black eye. He listed off various other injuries he got in the match with FTR at Dynasty. He said Christian was getting MRIs on his forearm and that’s why he wasn’t there.

He addressed FTR saying they won’t get another title shot. He said their rivalry is about more than titles, and they aren’t going to just “walk away.” Copeland said both of them were retired for years and had to fight to get back and they were going to “take their pound of flesh.”

FTR came out with Stokely. Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta then attacked Copeland from behind and it was a four-on-one attack. This brought out The Young Bucks to make the save. The Young Bucks took out FTR first, then Roppongi Vice, and then Copeland gave Beretta spear. Copeland and The Bucks then shook hands.

Backstage interview with Jack Perry: He told Don Callis to pick his “favorite goon out of the bunch” for a match on Dynamite next week for the National Championship in Portland.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated The Rascalz (Myron Reed & Zachary Wentz)

Crowd chanted “The Elite” before the bell.

It was all Young Bucks early, hitting double team moves on both Reed and Wentz. They worked on Reed for a while until he made a hot tag to Wentz, who hit a series of kicks and a suplex. Reed and Wentz then hit duelling suicide dives and now the Rascalz are in full control before we went to a commercial break.

Nick Jackson is fighting back as we come back from break. He makes a hot tag to Matt Jackson and hit his repeating Northern Lights suplex on Wentz, and then grabbed onto Reed as well and suplexed both opponents on the final one.

Bucks hit a pair of bulldogs out of the corner and high-fived each other on the way down. They then hit a stereo flying elbow/swanton for a near fall. Duelling sharpshooters followed. Rascalz got back into it, and Myron Reed hit a Flame On to the outside and then a No Cap splash for a near fall.

Bucks got back into hit, super kicked Wentz out of the ring and then hit the BTE trigger but Wentz broke up the pin. Shortly after, Bucks hit Wentz with the Meltzer Driver/TK Driver (Schiavone called it the Meltzer Driver) for the win.

After the match, Clark Connors and David Finlay attacked the Bucks. They also attacked Dezmond Xavier, who had come out to help. They continued to attack both the Bucks and Rascalz. They hit a suplex/top rope spear on Wentz.

Finlay cut a promo after saying they “might be down one dog” but the mission stays the same, they want “bodies and gold.” Connors said they were sending a message to the entire tag team division.

A short vignette for Divine Dominion aired. It had an Ancient Rome feel to it.

AEW World Trios Champion The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated The Lethal Swirl (Blake Christian, Jay Lethal, & Lee Johnson) in a title eliminator bout

The Conglomeration all came out with their titles in backpacks, just as Cassidy typically does when he is a title holder.

Babyfaces ran wild early. Commentary mentioned that Strong was “running plays for the team.” Cassidy did the spot where it looks like he’s going off the top with an elbow, then he goes down to the second rope etc. until just delivering a falling elbow. Cassidy then did his hands in pocket routine with Blake Christian.

Cassidy hit a Stun Dog Millionaire on Christian but then Jay Lethal attacked KOR on the apron, going after his knee and this led to the heels taking control of the match. They then celebrated by strutting just before we went to a commercial break.

The Swirl are working on Orange after we get back from break. Cassidy made a hot tag (while gently strolling to the corner) to Strong, who went on a run of backbreakers, as he is one to do. Commentary pointed out that KOR was laboring to get back to the corner because of his knee.

Strong continued to do good wrestling things until tagging into KOR, who hit a bunch of kicks and a knee until getting cut off. Lethal hit The King’s Elbow on KOR for a near fall, broken up by Orange. Blake Christian and Orange then had a series of light kicks that led to hard kicks, and everyone started fighting. Lethal had KOR in a figure four but it was broken.

Johnson came in for the heels but was quickly wrapped up in an ankle lock by KOR. Strong and Orange prevented the submission from being broken up and Johnson tapped.

Backstage segment: HOOK is being filmed by Katsuyori Shibata when he ran into Anthony Bowens, who wanted to know if he was in the Opps or not. HOOK said he’d tell him next week.

Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida defeated Big Anne & Danika Della Rouge

The commentary team of Schiavone, McGuinness, and Excalibur focused on what’s been going on a little with Shida since she returned. Nigel mentioned that Shida is more the driving force of this new team with Statlander.

Shida looked like she was going for the Katana before tagging in Statlander who hit Thursday Night Fever for the win.

As a team, Statlander and Shida didn’t show any dissension or anything. So perhaps everything will be all good with them from here on out.

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley defeated Nick Wayne in a title eliminator bout

Renee Paquette was ringside and talked about hometown boy Nick Wayne wrestling in an AEW ring for the first time in six months. He’s been in Ring of Honor, but it’s his first match in AEW since breaking his foot. Excalibur also talked about how Wayne was announced for next month’s Best of the Super Juniors, his second time in the tournament.

Excalibur also talked about Buddy Wayne, Nick’s late father, and his influence on other AEW wrestlers from the area like Kevin Knight and Darby Allin.

Wayne was antagonizing Mox until Mox knocked him to the ground with a hard knife-edge chop. Several chops followed. Mox seemed to get annoyed with Wayne acting arrogant and took a short walk around ringside. He then got back in the ring and offered a handshake to Wayne. Wayne accepted the handshake but then Mox just grabbed him and gave him a piledriver. Then we went to a commercial break. I liked that.

Mox was beating up Wayne as we got back from break. He suplexed him and then wrapped him up in a submission on the mat. Wayne got his boot up as Mox charged in the corner, then hit a second rope dropkick. They then exchanged a few headbutts, which seems a poor strategy for Wayne.

We got the ten minute notification.

Wayne hit a Sliced Bread for a two count. Duelling “Let’s go Moxley” and “Let’s Go Nick” chants.

Nick hit a super kick before Mox hit a big lariat. Wayne fought back and hit a Code Red for another two count. A cutter by Mox for a two count, and then he wrapped Wayne in a neck crank. Wayne got a finger in the eye to break the hold.

Moxley started daring Wayne to come at him, which fired Wayne up. Mox then bit him in the face and tried to Piledriver him again. Wayne spit in his face, which got Moxley angry, then Wayne hit a high roundhouse kick. Moxley escaped to the outside, but Wayne hit him with a diving Moonsault.

Moxley was busted open beside his right eye.

Moxley wrapped Wayne in a Bulldog choke. Crowd willed Wayne to his feet and it looked like he got out of the hold, but Moxley wrapped him back up in it before letting go.

We got the fifteen minute announcement. Wayne just needs to last five more minutes to earn a title shot. But not long after the announcement, Moxley hit a Death Rider for the win.

Backstage segment: Don Callis and Kazuchika Okada are interviewed. Callis tells Okada he doesn’t have to do the match with Konosuke Takeshita, but Okada said he wanted the match.

PAC defeated “Blackheart” Lio Rush

Rush came out mumbling to himself as Excalibur said he it’s like he’s talking to an opponent that isn’t there. He then compared Lio Rush and his Blackheart character to Keiji Mutoh and The Great Muta.

PAC and the referee allowed Rush to have his little Gollum-style talk to himself in the corner for a bit. PAC then finally kicked him right in the face, but Rush bounced right up.

Rush made PAC chase him for a bunch and PAC acted sort of frightened of his opponent. Rush then attacked Garcia at ringside. PAC then attacked Rush as Rush was on top of Garcia. Then Garcia put the boots to Rush as the referee was dealing with PAC in the ring.

PAC gave Rush a piledriver on the outside and we went to commercial break shortly after.

PAC looked like he was going for the Black Arrow but Rush popped up and made some more strange sounds. He galloped around the ring on all fours before hitting a suicide dive.

At one point Garcia started tossing water on Rush, perhaps trying to wake him up or give him some type of religious ritual.

Shortly after PAC hit a big clothesline, and then locked in the Brutalizer. Rush smiled as he went unconscious and the ref called for the bell.

Backstage vignette: Wild West style vignette for Bandido aired.

Brody King, Mistico, & Mascara Dorada defeated Ricky Gibson, KC Riff & Cole Rivera

A “F— ICE” chant is heard as the bell rings.

Brody King chopped everyone down. Then Dorada and Mistico hit their opponents with dives to the outside. Then Brody King hit a Gonzo Bomb for the short squash victory.

Backstage interview with Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander: Shida is super happy about their win, while Kris Statlander is more reserved. Mina Shirakawa came in and said she needed to talk to Shida. Shirakawa said she doesn’t trust her, she said things about Harley, and her kendo stick was found near Toni Storm when she was attacked. They argued in Japanese and Shida left.

We saw a video recap of Darby Allin beating MJF for the AEW World title on Dynamite.

AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla defeats Alex Windsor to retain

Nigel and Excalibur talked about Thekla using the ropes for leverage when she pinned Jamie Hayter at Dynasty. They also talked about Thekla being fired from Stardom for attacking the president of the company.

Windsor took control with a big clothesline out of the corner. She followed that with a big suplex. Then a Russian leg sweep and another clothesline for a two count. Thekla escaped to the outside, tripped up Windsor on the apron and took control of the match. She dove from the top rope onto Windsor on the outside before we went to commercial.

We came back from break with Thekla in control. She gave Windsor a series of chops in the corner. Windsor fought back, hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. She hit a big headbutt and locked in a sharpshooter until Thekla got to the ropes.

Thekla came off the ropes and locked in an Octopus Stretch but Windsor got to the ropes.

Windsor went to the top but Thekla cut her off. They fought on top of the turnbuckle and Thekla pulled out a pair of brass knuckles. Windsor blocked her strike, tried to give her a sunset bomb, but Thekla hit her with the knuckles, the referee unaware she had them. She then hit a foot stomp and got the pin.

Thekla celebrated with the title to end the show.

AEW Collision Spring BreakThru spoilers

The following are spoilers for this Thursday’s AEW Collision Spring BreakThru from the Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington, taped after Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The spoilers are courtesy of PWInsider with additional notes from our Jim Valley who was in attendance.

AEW Collision Spring BreakThru spoilers from Everett, Washington:

  • Adam Copeland cuts a promo. He has a huge bruise on his eye and says it’s not over between he & Christian Cage against FTR. FTR came out to distract him. He was then attacked by Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero. Young Bucks arrived to make the save and Copeland speared Beretta.
  • In a Jack Perry backstage promo, he challenged anyone from the Don Callis family to a match next week in Portland.
  • The Young Bucks defeated The Rascalz (Myron Reed and Zachary Wentz) with a TK Driver to Wentz in what Jim described as a fast-paced babyface match. The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors) attacked both teams after the match. Connors got on the mic and warned the entire tag team division, saying “Y’all are about to get screwed” as he grinded on one of the Bucks. Finlay said, “The numbers may change but the mission remains the same. We want gold.”
  • Divine Dominion pre-tape video set in “ancient Greece.”
  • In a Trios title eliminator match, The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated Lethal Twist (Blake Christian, Lee Johnson & Jay Lethal). Johnson tapped out to an ankle lock from O’Reilly. Jim said this was “lots of fun with the OC and O’Reilly spots. Jay Lethal used a tag rope for the advantage. Heat on OC. Kyle and Roddy run wild. Kyle makes Lee Johnson tap with the leg bar/ankle lock.”
  • In an Opps backstage promo, Anthony Bowens was told by Hook that a decision will be made next week on whether he is in or out.
  • Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida defeated “Big” Anna Beretta & Danika Della Rouge
  • Continental Champion Jon Moxley defeated Nick Wayne in an eliminator match. Moxley pinned Wayne after the Death Rider at 16 minutes. Moxley was even busted open and sold a lot for Wayne in his hometown. Afterward, Mother Wayne came back out and gave Nick a hug and helped him to the back.
  • Don Callis and Kazuchika Okada were backstage. Callis said he can get Okada out of the match with Konosuke Takeshita, but Okada says he wants the match because he is a champion, unlike Takeshita.
  • PAC defeated Lio Rush with the Brutalizer while Rush went out while smiling. “HE’S GOT RABIES!” chant from the crowd for Rush.
  • Bandido pre-tape video “The Most Wanted” – bar fights in saloons.
  • Brody King, Mistico & Mascara Dorada defeated Ricky Gibson, Bull Rivera & KC Riff. King pinned Gibson with the sitout piledriver.
  • In a backstage segment with Shida and Statlander, Mina Shirakawa interrupted their promo and said she does not trust Shida, suggesting Shida may be the one who attacked Toni Storm.
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla defeated Alex Winsdor. Thekla nailed Windsor with brass knuckles and pinned her after a curb stomp.
