Women’s Tag Team title match set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

Asuka & Kairi Sane will challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championship on next week’s WWE SmackDown. 

Reunited as The Kabuki Warriors in Damage CTRL, former Tag champs Asuka & Sane will challenge Katana Chance & Kayden Carter for the Women’s Tag titles on the Friday, January 26 SmackDown. Chance & Carter defended their titles successfully on this week’s SmackDown with a win over Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn. 

A rematch from the January 12 SmackDown is also set for next week, as Carmelo Hayes & Austin Theory will go one-on-one again. Their match on last week’s SmackDown was stopped and ruled a no contest after both were injured after taking a bad fall on a botched avalanche flatliner. 

The Pride (Bobby Lashley, Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) will go face-to-face in the ring next week with The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam, Rezar, Paul Ellering & Scarlett) in a segment announced during Friday’s episode. 

In addition, Carlito will face Santos Escobar on next Friday’s SmackDown. 

The January 26 SmackDown is the go-home show for next Saturday’s Royal Rumble. The announced lineup:

New Women’s Tag Team Champions crowned on WWE Raw

Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. 

Rousey & Baszler won a four-way for the vacant Tag titles on Monday’s Raw to win the titles for the first time as a duo. 

Former title holders Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan were forced to relinquish the Tag titles after Morgan suffered an injury. Rodriguez teamed with Shotzi in Monday’s title match, which also featured teams of Bayley & IYO SKY, plus Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville. 

Rousey secured the victory for her team by submitting Shotzi with an armbar.

The win is the third Women’s Tag title reign for Baszler, who twice captured the titles with Nia Jax. Baszler & Jax spent a combined 215 days as Tag champs over their two reigns.

Rousey once again holds gold in WWE for the first time since December 2022 when she dropped the SmackDown Women’s title to Charlotte Flair. 

Women’s tag title match, Roman Reigns return set for next WWE SmackDown

A Women’s Tag Team Championship match, the return of Roman Reigns, plus Cameron Grimes vs. Baron Corbin have been added to next week’s WWE SmackDown.

Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Damage CTRL’s Bayley & Dakota Kai on next week’s SmackDown episode. Bayley & Kai defeated Morgan & Rodriguez in a non-title match on Raw this week to set up next week’s contest. 

Roman Reigns will appear on WWE programming for the first time since the Raw after WrestleMania on next week’s SmackDown. The Reigns return was added to the show during this week’s episode. 

A singles match between new SmackDown draft pick Cameron Grimes and undrafted free agent Baron Corbin has also been added to next week’s episode. The bout was set up with a backstage promo segment during this week’s show. 

Already announced for next week are a pair of triple threat matches in the World Heavyweight title tournament, with the winners meeting later in the show’s main event to determine the SmackDown representative in the tournament finals set for Night of Champions.

Lita & Becky Lynch win Tag Team titles, Trish Stratus returns on WWE Raw

New Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned on Raw after an assist from a WWE Hall of Famer. 

Lita and Becky Lynch defeated Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and IYO SKY with help from the returning Trish Stratus on Monday to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship for the first time. 

As Bayley interfered in an attempt to help Damage CTRL retain the Tag titles, Stratus ran in and hit Bayley with a Chick Kick to level the odds. As Lynch held Kai on the apron in a Disarm-Her, Lita climbed to the top rope and landed a moonsault on SKY for the pinfall victory to win the titles. 

Lynch, and Hall of Famers Lita and Stratus then celebrated in the ring as pyro went off to close Raw. 

Damage CTRL’s second Tag title reign ended after 114 days with the defeat. 

Stratus last appeared on WWE television in August 2022 in Toronto, where she also had an interaction with Bayley, Kai, and SKY. 

Stratus was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, while Lita was inducted in 2014.

Becky Lynch & Lita challenging for Tag Team titles on next week’s WWE Raw

Becky Lynch and WWE Hall of Famer Lita will challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championship on next week’s Raw. 

In a match set up in a talk show segment on this week’s episode, Lynch and Lita will face Dakota Kai and IYO SKY for the Women’s Tag titles on the February 27 show. 

Lynch and Lita crashed Bayley’s Ding Dong Hello talk show on Raw and issued the challenge, which Bayley accepted on behalf of her Damage CTRL teammates.

Two additional matches, plus a talk show segment are also set for next week’s episode. 

Number one contender to Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship Asuka will be in action next week against Carmella. 

In another women’s division contest, Candice LeRae will take on Piper Niven on next week’s Raw. 

On a “WrestleMania Goes Hollywood” edition of Miz TV next week, The Miz will reveal the contents of the envelope he was handed in a cliffhanger on this week’s show. 

A Brock Lesnar appearance was also teased for next week, though Lesnar was not officially announced for the show. Omos issued a challenge to Lesnar for WrestleMania on this week’s Raw, and the commentary team asked if Lesnar would show up next week to answer the challenge.

Tag Team title match, Logan Paul set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

A Tag Team title match, Logan Paul, plus Liv Morgan vs. Sonya Deville are set for next Friday’s WWE SmackDown. 

In a match announced on this week’s episode, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai of Damage CTRL will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi next week. 

To build next week’s match, Bayley, SKY, and Kai faced Rodriguez, Shotzi, and NXT’s Roxanne Perez in a trios match on Friday’s SmackDown, with Bayley scoring a pin on Perez. 

Also set for next week, Logan Paul will return to SmackDown in advance of his November 5 Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel. 

In another match announced for next week, Liv Morgan will face Sonya Deville. As Deville was running down Morgan in a backstage promo on this week’s show, Morgan attacked Deville and landed a senton off of a truss through a table.

Damage CTRL crowned new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY and Dakota Kai are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. 

Damage CTRL defeated Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah on Monday’s Raw to win the titles after Kai pinned Aliyah with a Kai-Ropractor.  

Monday’s match was a rematch of the tournament finals from two weeks ago where Rodriguez and Aliyah won the vacant titles by defeating SKY and Kai. Kai was pinned in the match but was not the legal competitor, setting up the rematch. 

Kai had twice previously won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship with Rodriguez as her partner, and SKY had also captured the NXT Tag titles with Zoey Stark on one occasion, but this is the first main roster title win for both competitors. SKY is also a one-time NXT Women’s Champion. 

Kai and SKY returned to the company at SummerSlam in July, making their main roster debuts alongside Bayley as the three formed the Damage CTRL group. Kai had been released in April of this year, while SKY was believed to still be under contract, but considering not renewing her deal if she were earmarked to remain in NXT.

Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament match set for next WWE Raw

The Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament will continue with a semifinal match on next week’s WWE Raw. 

After advancing in the tournament with a win over Nikki ASH and Doudrop this week, Alexa Bliss and Asuka will take on Dakota Kai and IYO SKY on the August 22 Raw episode. 

Kai was in singles competition on this week’s show, defeating Dana Brooke.

Already announced for next week’s show, Edge will be in singles action against Damian Priest. That match was announced during the August 8 Raw. 

Priest announced during this week’s Raw that Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley will not accompany him to ringside for his match with Edge.

The August 22 Raw will take place at the Scotiabank Arena.

Dakota Kai & IYO SKY advance in WWE Women’s  Tag Team title tournament

Dakota Kai and IYO SKY are the first team to advance to the second round of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament. 

Kai and SKY defeated Tamina and Dana Brooke on Monday’s Raw episode to advance to the second round. 

The eight-team tournament bracket was also revealed on Raw, and Kai and SKY now await the winners of Alexa Bliss & Asuka vs. Nikki ASH and Doudrop. 

Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah vs. Xia Li & Shotzi, plus Natalya & Sonya Deville vs. NXT’s Zoey Stark & Nikkita Lyons are the other first round matches. 

Kai and SKY re-debuted with WWE at SummerSlam on July 30 as part of a new faction led by the returning Bayley. The trio will take on Bliss, Asuka, and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair in a trios match at the Clash at the Castle event on September 3. 

After then-champions Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of a Raw episode on May 16, the Women’s Tag Team titles were officially vacated on the May 20 episode of SmackDown.

Natalya & Shayna Baszler added to WWE WrestleMania Tag title match

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania will now be a four-way. 

Natalya and Shayna Baszler have been added to the title match on night two of WrestleMania on Sunday, April 3 after an angle on tonight’s SmackDown episode. 

Natalya and Baszler interfered in a tag match on SmackDown featuring Sasha Banks and Naomi taking on Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan with Tag title holders Queen Zelina and Carmella at ringside. After laying out all for competitors in the match, Natalya and Baszler then had a staredown with Zelina and Carmella.

Later in the show, Sonya Deville congratulated Natalya and Baszler on their interference and announced that they would be added to the WrestleMania bout.
