Hulk Hogan docuseries edges out WWE Raw in Netflix global top ten

The four-part Hulk Hogan: Real American docuseries on Netflix edged out last Monday’s WWE Raw in total global viewers, according to Netflix’s weekly Tudum rankings.

The Hogan series, co-produced by WWE, brought in 3.1 million global viewers in its second week on the list, up from the prior week’s three million in its debut week. Like the prior week, it was fifth overall globally and had 12.9 million global hours viewed.

The Monday, April 27 edition of Raw did 2.8 million global viewers (sixth overall) and 5.2 million global hours viewed. The viewers are a dip of 500,000 from the post-WrestleMania Raw while the global views were down 1.4 million from the prior week — partially due to a lower runtime and the drop in viewers.

The global views and global hours viewed were both Raw’s lowest since March 9.

The Hogan doc was a top ten show in 14 countries while Raw was in the top ten in 12 countries.

The leader of the week was the first season of Man on Fire (11 million global views) followed closely by the first season of Should I Marry a Murderer? (10.6 million global views).

The difference between fourth place and the Hogan series in fifth place was 3.6 million.

CM Punk retains World Heavyweight title on WWE Raw

CM Punk is still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion after surviving Bron Breakker’s attempt to win the title in the main event of the first anniversary of Raw on Netflix.

The end came when Punk countered a Breakker spear attempt with a knee strike, hitting a GTS for the pin and win.

It was Punk’s first televised title defense of his second reign. He won the vacant championship this past November against Jey Uso on Saturday Night’s Main Event after Seth Rollins had to vacate due to injury.

Breakker dominated Punk for the majority of the match, using his physical style to batter and beat Punk up. Punk was able to counter Breakker’s running spear attempt on the outside of the ring with a flying clothesline to regain the momentum going into a break that didn’t last coming out of it.

Breakker attempted a top rope Frankensteiner, but Breakker fell awkwardly in what looked to be a botch. Punk hit an elbow drop, but they eventually went to the spot again with Breakker hitting the move. Punk rallied again, but Paul Heyman distracted him before he could go for the GTS.

The Vision then came out to distract Punk who got hit from behind by Breakker who also took out the referee as well. Austin Theory hit a curb stomp that got a close nearfall and eventually, Dragon Lee, Penta and Rey Mysterio came out to even the odds as Bronson Reed was clearing off a table to have Punk thrown through it.

Punk eventually hit the GTS after Breakker ran into the ring post after Punk moved, but only got a nearfall. Breakker kicked out of another pin attempt and countered another GTS attempt into an armbar. Punk countered with an anaconda vice but Breakker got out of it, hit a gutbuster, and a clothesline for his own close nearfall.

Punk locked in an STF as a counter to Breakker’s GTS attempt, but made it to the ropes. Heyman got up on the apron again and Punk punched him and avoided a spear attempt that sent Breakker to the outside of the ring. However, Punk got punched by Breakker as he dove through the ropes, taking a nasty landing on the outside.

Breakker then went to the top rope and hit a flying elbow drop/clothesline of sorts, putting him through the table. As Breakker went for a spear, Punk hit a counter knee and a GTS for the pin and win.

Punk came out before the match mocking Breakker’s heritage, donning a CM Punk varsity jacket in University of Michigan colors like Rick & Scott Steiner used to wear.

The main event was part of the first anniversary of Raw’s debut on Netflix, held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

New women’s match added to WWE Raw lineup

Liv Morgan will make her televised in-ring return as part of this Monday’s highly-promoted WWE Raw on Netflix.

Announced during Friday’s SmackDown, Morgan will take on Lyra Valkyria — a match that was on three WWE live events over the past week.

Morgan was out of action since a June 16 Raw match against Kairi Sane when she injured her shoulder badly enough that she required surgery. She made her surprise return at last November’s Survivor Series, helping cost John Cena the Intercontinental title in his rematch with Dominik Mysterio.

Valkyria is looking for her first singles win on Raw since September.

This Monday’s Raw will celebrate their one year anniversary of debuting on Netflix and will also feature a tie-in with the recently wrapped Stranger Things show.

Current WWE Raw lineup | This Monday

  • WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk defends against Bron Breakker
  • Liv Morgan vs. Lyra Valkyria
  • WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Maxxine Dupri defends against Becky Lynch
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) defend against Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY

WWE Raw November 3 viewership improves slightly

Image: WWE

The November 3 edition of WWE Raw on Netflix did 2.4 million global views, up slightly from their record low the previous week’s show garnered.

Revealed by Netflix on Tuesday in their weekly rankings, the show was up 100,000 from their record low of 2.3 million. The global hours views increased to 5.2 million, up from the previous week’s 4.6 million, but that was due to the episode’s 13 minute runtime increase.

The show was the fallout edition from Saturday Night’s Main Event where CM Punk won the vacant WWE World Heavyweight title in a match with Jey Uso. On Raw, Punk was confronted by Logan Paul in one angle while Rey Mysterio made his return in another to confront his son, Dominik.

The episode was up against the Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals Monday Night Football game domestically in addition to the usual NBA and NHL slate that were on regional networks.
