Last week’s WWE Raw on Netflix viewership hits four-month low

The May 25 episode of WWE Raw hit a four-month viewership low on Netflix.

In new info released by the streamer on Tuesday, the show drew 2.5 million global views and 4.6 million global hours viewed. The views are the lowest reported since the January 19 episode’s 2.5 million although January 26’s numbers were never reported. The hours viewed were equal to the previous week.

Since hitting 3.3 million on April 20, global viewers have continued to tick downward.

The show finished seventh globally, trailing sixth place by 200,000 views. It finished in the top ten in 13 countries and was fifth in the U.S. It had a listed runtime of 1:47.

The show was the go-home for this last weekend’s Clash in Italy.

The leader for the week was the debut season of The Boroughs with 9.5 million global views and 59.4 million hours viewed.

WWE Raw after WrestleMania does fourth-best viewership ever in Netflix era

The Raw after a much-discussed WWE WrestleMania 42 did the show’s fourth-best ever numbers in the Netflix era.

Revealed by the streamer’s weekly Tudum charts, the April 20 episode brought in 3.3 million global viewers — 300,000 viewers shy of the previous year’s Raw after WrestleMania (3.6 million) and just ahead of this past January’s Netflix anniversary episode (3.2 million).

The episode was fourth overall globally, tying a slew of other episodes for its highest-ever ranking on that list. It was a top ten show in 22 countries and was fourth overall in the U.S.

The first season of Unchosen led the week with 10.4 million global views and 46.9 million global hours viewed.

WWE’s top ten run in the Netflix global rankings continued with last week’s Elimination Chamber fallout episode of Raw.

The March 2 broadcast brought in a reported three million global views and 5.4 million global hours viewed according to Netflix’s weekly Tudum metrics, placing it tied for fifth in global views among all shows in the world for the last seven days.

WWE Raw May 26 episode scores all-time low viewership of Netflix era

Raw on 5/26 set the all-time Netflix low numbers, claiming 4.8 million hours viewed and 2.6 million devices viewing.

That number makes no sense unless it means only 15 percent of all viewers watched live, down from the Netflix claim of 80 percent in February. If that’s the case, there were only 390,000 live views worldwide and about 534,000 total viewers watching live throughout the world. Those are worldwide numbers, not U.S. numbers and completely implausible given last year the show would have done 1.27 million live viewers in the U.S. alone, let alone all over the world.

Realistically, based on 70 percent of the viewing to be seeing the 2:30 version of the show and 30 percent seeing the 1:43 version of the show, that would end up as 2,118,000 total devices viewed and with a generous 1.37 viewers per device, that would be 2,902,000 worldwide viewers.

For the U.S., that would translate as a seven day figure of 805,000 devices and 1,109,000 viewers. That would be roughly 937,000 same day viewers.

All figures are all-time lows for the show since the 1/6 episode. Netflix figures for the week have it down 4.0 percent in total viewing time and down 3.7 percent in total views from the prior week’s number which was the lowest total viewing time previously and lowest U.S. numbers to date.

Our figures have the decline from last week at 4.7 percent. This would be a decline of 44.6 percent from the U.S. viewership for the show the same week last year on the USA Network.

The show was listed at No. 6 for the week among English language television shows worldwide.  However, that’s based on 2.6 million, a number that would only mean 534,000 worldwide watched it live. At 2,118,000 devices, it would be No. 10 among English language television shows and at best No. 32 among all Netflix shows for the week, because there were at minimum English language movies placing ahead.

Even though the show was the lowest, in many of the key markets it did place higher than the 5/19 show.

In the U.S., the show was No. 4 among English language TV shows, up from No. 5 for the 5/19 show. In the U.K., it was No. 9, the same as the prior week. In Mexico, it was No. 7, up from No. 10 the prior week. In India, it was No. 9, after not cracking the top ten the prior week. In Canada, it was No. 5, up from No. 6 the prior week. The show did not crack the top ten for the week in Saudi Arabia, New Zealand or Australia for either the 5/26 or 5/19 shows.

The bit of good news in the numbers is that early indications are the show on 6/2, with the numbers set to be released on 6/10, look to be an increase from the week before. In countries where the show aired on Monday night, it was No. 1 for the day in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, up from three, three and two for the 5/26 show.

WWE Raw on Netflix viewership for April 28 declines from previous week

Image: WWE

Viewership for the 4/28 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix was down as expected from the previous show directly after WrestleMania 41 but still ahead of most of the shows leading into WrestleMania.

This would be consistent with usual patterns. The week after WrestleMania is usually big, the week after that remains above average, and the third week ends up at average levels and then starts to hit the lowest non-football numbers of the year as the NBA playoffs deepen.

Netflix listed the show as having 5.8 million hours of viewing and three million global viewers. The April 21st edition was listed at 8.7 million hours of viewing and 3.6 million global viewers.

That means they considered viewing of one hour and 55 minutes as the full show, which was two hours and 34 minutes live and one hour 51 minutes if not watching live. This indicates almost nobody watched live while Netflix has always claimed it’s 80 percent live. Even going with 70 percent live, this would average 2,554,000 homes worldwide and 3,226,000 viewers being very generous on the viewer total.

WWE Raw on Netflix viewership for March 24 down from prior week

Image: WWE

The Monday, March 24th WWE Raw show, which was week two of the Cody Rhodes/John Cena debate and Bron Breakker vs. Penta, dropped from the first week of the Cena/Rhodes debate show where Cena blamed the fans.

Netflix listed a 3.2 percent overall drop, listing 5.6 million hours and 3.0 million global views. Some of the decline in minutes was due to running a shorter replay show than the week before but the live show was the same length of time. They listed a run time of one hour and 44 minutes when it was two hours 24 minutes for the first day when the majority of the viewing was.

This was the largest sleight of hand to date. Based on how Nielsen or a television station would track those minutes, it would be 2,471,000 homes and 3,385,000 worldwide viewers or a drop of 11.4 percent from the 3/17 show.

Dave Meltzer on Netflix viewership for February 24 WWE Raw & Elimination Chamber

Image: WWE

The 2/24 WWE Raw show on Netflix took another step down in viewers.

Netflix claimed 5.5 million hours, the same as for the prior two weeks, but due to the show being longer last week, they listed 2.6 million views, a drop of 7.1 percent from the prior two weeks.

Regarding Elimination Chamber, we don’t know how the show did internationally as it didn’t make the Netflix top ten for the week. No. 10 would have been 2.1 million views or about 2.94 million viewers outside the U.S.  Because such a high percentage of Netflix viewership is the U.S., if you aren’t on in the U.S., it’s harder to crack the top ten as SmackDown never does because it’s not on Netflix in the U.S., while Raw thus far always has.

Royal Rumble did 2.1 million views so all we know is that this was lower than Royal Rumble, which one would say is to be expected.  But this is also a number that includes viewings through Monday night. With all the pub of the John Cena turn, there was a chance it could have beaten Rumble, but it didn’t.

Dave Meltzer on WWE Raw Netflix viewership for February 10

Image: WWE

The WWE Raw on 2/10 continued its viewership decline on Netflix which is now down 60 percent from the debut show. Based on our calculations, it dropped another 7.9 percent from the 2/3 show, which was the show after the Royal Rumble. Netflix itself lists a larger drop.

The difference is that the replay was one hour 50 minutes on 2/10 instead of one hour 54 minutes on 2/3.

Netflix listed 5.5 million hours viewed and 2.8 million views. However, that would again be going with the idea that almost everyone watched the replay show and nobody watched it live. Going on the 80/20 split that Netflix has stated of live to not-live, the actual views would be 2,361,000 and an estimated 3,235,000 worldwide viewers.
