WWE Raw October 27 episode ties record low in viewership against NFL, World Series

After three weeks of improved viewership, the October 27 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix returned to its previous record low for global views.

Revealed by Netflix on Tuesday in their weekly rankings, the show did 2.3 million global views with 4.6 million global hours viewed. Competition-wise in the United States, the show was up against the NFL’s Monday Night Football (Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Commanders) in addition to game three of the World Series between the LA Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.

The show was the Raw go-home for Saturday Night’s Main Event with the build to the CM Punk vs. Jey Uso match for the vacant World Heavyweight title. It also featured a no. 1 contender’s match for the WWE Intercontinental title, Nikki Bella vs. Roxanne Perez, and a Women’s World Tag Team title match between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defending against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.

Update on WWE Raw start time change & when it will begin

For nearly the entire month of September, WWE Raw will have an earlier start time.

On Thursday’s WrestleVotes Radio, the recent rumors of a time change were given some more weight as the outlet reported that the September 15th, 22nd and 29th editions of the flagship show will start at 7 PM Eastern.

The reason? The NFL.

WrestleVotes said that according to their sources, both WWE and Netflix want to see how Raw performs against Monday Night Football on the ESPN networks with an earlier start time. With most editions going around 2:30 hours, it will minimize the amount of head-to-head time by an hour.

On the 15th and 29th, there will be doubleheaders of NFL action that Raw will be going head-to-head with as the first game starts at 7 PM Eastern and 7:15 PM Eastern respectively. The single game on the 22nd starts at 8:15 PM Eastern.

This Monday’s Raw will also have an earlier start time for U.S. viewers, but that is because it is taking place in Paris, France, following Sunday’s Clash in Paris PLE. The following week’s Raw on Monday, September 8th will start in its usual 8 PM Eastern timeslot.

It’s unknown if this is expected to be a permanent change or perhaps one that extends throughout the NFL season. Netflix is also an NFL broadcast partner.

WWE Raw on Netflix June 2 viewership up from previous week

Image: WWE

The following is an excerpt from a subscriber exclusive article available here.

The 6/2 WWE Raw on Netflix — the go-home edition for Money in the Bank — was up from the previous week’s record-low with Netflix claiming 5.0 million viewer hours and 2.7 million global views.

According to Netflix, the May 26th show did 4.8 million viewer hours and 2.6 million global views.

Doing that math, you get that they are now figuring almost nobody is watching the show live, which, of course, is ridiculous.

Using those numbers, with the idea of not being able to figure people who watch twice (a prime issue with streaming vs. Nielsen comparisons which favor streaming numbers having an advantage in an equal playing field) and using Netflix’s internal live vs. delayed viewing numbers (a figure significantly lower than they have said publicly), you get 2,296,000 total views as an average which would be estimated to be 3,132,000 worldwide viewers over the course of the full week.

WWE Raw May 26 episode scores all-time low viewership of Netflix era

Raw on 5/26 set the all-time Netflix low numbers, claiming 4.8 million hours viewed and 2.6 million devices viewing.

That number makes no sense unless it means only 15 percent of all viewers watched live, down from the Netflix claim of 80 percent in February. If that’s the case, there were only 390,000 live views worldwide and about 534,000 total viewers watching live throughout the world. Those are worldwide numbers, not U.S. numbers and completely implausible given last year the show would have done 1.27 million live viewers in the U.S. alone, let alone all over the world.

Realistically, based on 70 percent of the viewing to be seeing the 2:30 version of the show and 30 percent seeing the 1:43 version of the show, that would end up as 2,118,000 total devices viewed and with a generous 1.37 viewers per device, that would be 2,902,000 worldwide viewers.

For the U.S., that would translate as a seven day figure of 805,000 devices and 1,109,000 viewers. That would be roughly 937,000 same day viewers.

All figures are all-time lows for the show since the 1/6 episode. Netflix figures for the week have it down 4.0 percent in total viewing time and down 3.7 percent in total views from the prior week’s number which was the lowest total viewing time previously and lowest U.S. numbers to date.

Our figures have the decline from last week at 4.7 percent. This would be a decline of 44.6 percent from the U.S. viewership for the show the same week last year on the USA Network.

The show was listed at No. 6 for the week among English language television shows worldwide.  However, that’s based on 2.6 million, a number that would only mean 534,000 worldwide watched it live. At 2,118,000 devices, it would be No. 10 among English language television shows and at best No. 32 among all Netflix shows for the week, because there were at minimum English language movies placing ahead.

Even though the show was the lowest, in many of the key markets it did place higher than the 5/19 show.

In the U.S., the show was No. 4 among English language TV shows, up from No. 5 for the 5/19 show. In the U.K., it was No. 9, the same as the prior week. In Mexico, it was No. 7, up from No. 10 the prior week. In India, it was No. 9, after not cracking the top ten the prior week. In Canada, it was No. 5, up from No. 6 the prior week. The show did not crack the top ten for the week in Saudi Arabia, New Zealand or Australia for either the 5/26 or 5/19 shows.

The bit of good news in the numbers is that early indications are the show on 6/2, with the numbers set to be released on 6/10, look to be an increase from the week before. In countries where the show aired on Monday night, it was No. 1 for the day in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, up from three, three and two for the 5/26 show.

WWE Raw on Netflix viewership for April 28 declines from previous week

Image: WWE

Viewership for the 4/28 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix was down as expected from the previous show directly after WrestleMania 41 but still ahead of most of the shows leading into WrestleMania.

This would be consistent with usual patterns. The week after WrestleMania is usually big, the week after that remains above average, and the third week ends up at average levels and then starts to hit the lowest non-football numbers of the year as the NBA playoffs deepen.

Netflix listed the show as having 5.8 million hours of viewing and three million global viewers. The April 21st edition was listed at 8.7 million hours of viewing and 3.6 million global viewers.

That means they considered viewing of one hour and 55 minutes as the full show, which was two hours and 34 minutes live and one hour 51 minutes if not watching live. This indicates almost nobody watched live while Netflix has always claimed it’s 80 percent live. Even going with 70 percent live, this would average 2,554,000 homes worldwide and 3,226,000 viewers being very generous on the viewer total.
