WWE NXT live results: Halloween Havoc week one

Halloween Havoc 2023 kicks off on NXT tonight.

For the first time ever, Halloween Havoc is a two-week special. Night one will see Becky Lynch defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Lyra Valkyria. Lynch is coming off a title defense against Indi Hartwell on Raw. Lynch has successfully retained the title four times since becoming champion.

The NXT Tag Team titles will also be on the line in a match between Tony D’Angelo & Stacks and Chase U’s Andre Chase & Duke Hudson. Chase U earned the title shot by winning a Bada Bing Bada Boom battle royal last week.

Two Halloween-themed stipulation matches are set for tonight. Gigi Dolin and Blair Davenport will settle their rivalry in a Lights Out match. Roxanne Perez and Kiana James are facing off in a Devil’s Playground match.

We’ll get our first look at Lexis King (Brian Pillman Jr.) in a WWE ring. He’s making his NXT in-ring debut on the episode.

Tonight’s show airs live on USA Network starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The band New Years Day kicked off the show with their song ‘Vampyre.’

Scarlett & Shotzi welcomed us to the Halloween Havoc. Shotzi was dressed as Pinhead from Hellraiser. Scarlett was dressed as Marie Antoinette, I think.

Vic Joseph & Booker T* previewed the card before throwing it to the ring for the first match.

*One of the all-time terrible commentary teams

Devil’s Playground match: Roxanne Perez defeated Kiana James

Roxanne got some shine early with a variety of pinning combinations including a sunset flip off the steps onto the floor for a near fall. Kiana cut Roxanne off with a laptop shot and took control heading into a picture-in-picture commercial break.

A variety of weapons were used including a chain, a garbage can, a swing set, a sliding board, a see-saw, a picket fence.

Roxanne missed a side Russian leg sweep off the barricade. Kiana missed a moonsault off the barricade. Roxanne hit Kiana with Kiana’s loaded purse and followed up with Pop Rocks onto the loaded purse for the pin.

Roxanne is indeed a prodigy, and Kiana has nights where she looks like a good wrestler and nights where she looks lost. This was overly choreographed, but a fine opener where they spent almost the entirety of the bout on the floor.

Carmelo Hayes interview

Vic Joseph held a sit-down interview with Carmelo backstage. He asked if Carmelo attacked Trick Williams. Carmelo asked if this was an interrogation.

Carmelo said if he would have had to go through Trick to win that four-way last week for a title shot, he would have. He said his motivation is not just the NXT title, but the title of “Him,” and how can he be “Him” without the NXT title.

Carmelo said “Justice for Trick” and walked off the set while Vic tried to ask more questions and was ignored.

Much more of a heelish edge to Carmelo here than anytime recently, obviously. This was not a good promo.

**********

Meta-Four were backstage with Shotzi & Scarlett. Akira Tozawa stole the Heritage Cup while Meta-Four argued with one another about a ouija board.

**********

Lexis King’s in-ring debut: Lexis King defeated Dante Chen

King entered on a throne. He said “Brian Pillman is dead, long live Lexis King.”

They had a simple and short match that King won with a draping, spinning neckbreaker after a superkick.

“My way, my life,” King said after the match.

Lexis King sounds like the name of a credit bureau. Nothing about this did King any favors.

**********

Chase U backstage segment

Chase U were backstage preparing for their Tag Team title match. Thea Hail promised not to throw in the towel. The Family came in to wish Andre Chase & Duke Hudson luck.

NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament semifinals: Kelani Jordan defeated Arianna Grace

Jordan won after an impressive legdrop and a split-legged moonsault.

As with all the matches in this Breakout Tournament so far, they kept it simple and did well.

**********

Mr. Stone & Von Wagner segment

Mr. Stone & Von Wagner had a heart-to-heart at the physical therapy facility. Stone said he’s going to avenge his friend next week as he tries to land one punch or one slap against Bron Breakker. Wagner said “we’re friends?” Stone said “yes, we’re friends.”

Wagner said he’s still not feeling up to cornering Stone next week.

**********

Shotzi & Scarlett welcomed us back from commercial in new costumes. They plugged their YouTube show.

The Creeds & Ivy Nile interrupted and wanted a match against Angel & Humberto. Shotzi said they should spin the wheel to decide what kind of match they should have.

Next week The Creeds will face Angel & Humberto in a Tables, Ladders & Scares match.

Shotzi was Edward Scissorhands, Scarlett was apparently a vampire, but just looked like a lingerie model to me.

**********

NXT Tag Team Championship match: Chase U’s Andre Chase & Duke Hudson (w/Thea Hail & Jacy Jayne) defeated Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo to win the titles

Stacks hit an impressive dive onto Chase & Hudson as they went to a commercial break early in the bout.

Back from break, Stacks missed an elbow drop to allow Chase to tag Hudson and switch the momentum. Hudson hit a boss man slam for a near fall.

Stacks escaped a Fratliner and managed a tag to Tony D. Stacks & Tony D reestablished the advantage as they cut Chase off in their half of the ring. Stacks & Tony D did their version of the Power & Glory superplex spot for a near fall with Hudson breaking up the pinfall attempt on Chase.

Stacks & Hudson fought to the floor. Jayne tried to pass a foreign object to Chase, but he refused to use it. Chase sent Tony D into the ropes and bumped Jayne off the apron, then caught Tony D in a pinning combination to win the titles.

Jayne & Hail celebrated with Hudson & Chase in the ring as the Chase U student section went crazy.

Stacks & Tony D are good & Chase U is a fun act, God bless everyone involved.

Nathan Frazer’s Hard Hitting Home Truths

Frazer said he was going to beat Dominik Mysterio for the North American title next week if Mami let Dom take his balls out of her purse. Frazer said last year’s Halloween Havoc was a bad night for him but he’s back stronger and faster than ever.

A video package aired with Irish fans weighing in on social media regarding the all-Irish main event on tonight’s show.

**********

Baron Corbin promo

McKenzie Mitchell interviewed Baron backstage. She asked if he attacked Trick Williams last week, which Corbin denied. Corbin said he came this close to earning a shot at the NXT Championship last week.

A good promo.

Lights Out match: Blair Davenport defeated Gigi Dolin

The crowd chanted for tables. Davenport teased setting one up, but then denied the fans.

The big spot of the match was Davenport hitting a falcon arrow off the announce desk through another table to set up the pinfall victory.

They had a decent weapons brawl with straps, chairs, tables, etc.

Ilja Dragunov sit-down interview

Vic interviewed Ilja backstage. He said Carmelo is a desperate man and not focused enough to regain his title next week. Ilja said the intangibles will be the difference in their match.

Carmelo was shown watching the interview on a monitor. Scarlett & Shotzi approached dressed as the twins from The Shining & said that all signs point to him being Trick’s attacker last week. Carmelo said they should go bother somebody else.

**********

Tiffany Stratton & Fallon Henley promo

Sarah Schreiber interviewed Tiffany. Tiffany said said she likes Sarah better than McKenzie already. Fallon Henley interrupted dressed as Tiffany for Halloween and did a pitch-perfect Tiffany impression. The two brawled, likely setting up a match for next week.

NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament semifinals: Lola Vice defeated Karmen Petrovic

They exchanged the advantage with a series of kicks early. They did a lengthy sequence of irish whip reversal spots that led to Vice being sent to the floor. Petrovic hit a nice dive to the floor.

Immediately off the dive, they got back in the ring and Vice hit a high kick for the pin.

The finish came out of nowhere. Both competitors have good strikes. Booker T said that Lola is spicy and you want to put that spice on everything.

Chase U celebration

Andre, Duke, Thea, and Jacy were celebrating their victory backstage when Chelsea Green & Piper Niven interrupted in costume. Thea & Jacy said they were going to ask Shawn Michaels for a Tag Team title shot against Chelsea & Piper.

**********

Lyra & Becky were shown backstage as they prepared for the main event, which is next.

**********

Meta-Four segment

Meta-Four were complaining to a security guard that they didn’t have video surveillance to determine who stole the Heritage Cup. Lash Legend showed Noam Dar a photo of Tozawa with the Heritage Cup and Dar freaked out.

Carmelo Hayes & Bron Breakker backstage

Bron said he and Melo would be fighting for the top spot in the industry for decades. Bron said that whether or not Carmelo attacked Trick, he did what he had to do. He said that once he puts away Mr. Stone & Carmelo beats Ilja next week, they can get back to their rivalry.

Jade Cargill arrives

Cargill made a grand entrance to watch the main event from a platform in the arena.

NXT Women’s Champonship: Lyra Valkyria defeated Becky Lynch to win the title

There were loud dueling chants.

They went 50/50 to establish Valkyria as a credible challenger. Becky used her matrix escape from a pinfall attempt, then Lyra did the same. They hit simultaneous crossbodies into a double down.

Becky blocked one northern lights suplex attempt, but Lyra continued to fight for it and finally hit one. Becky countered with a Bexploder. Becky teased a leg slice off the ropes, but Lyra escaped. Lyra avoided a baseball slide and hit a dropkick through the ropes to the apron with Lynch on the floor.

Lyra hit the leg slice that Becky teased earlier for a two count. Lyra avoided the Manhandle Slam and hit a missile dropkick for another near fall. Lyra avoided a Disarm Her. Becky used sliced bread out of the corner for a near fall of her own.

Lyra again avoided the Manhandle and they traded cradles. Becky got an armbar applied, but Lyra escaped and stacked Becky up for two.

Lyra hit a fisherman’s suplex for two. Lyra went to the top rope and missed a splash. Becky got the Disarm Her, but Lyra reached the ropes to force a break.

Lyra hit a sit-out powerbomb out of the corner for two, then went back to the top rope. Becky cut her off and hit a superplex into a DDT for another two count.

Lyra fought out of a powerbomb attempt out of the corner and hit a spinning high kick for a near fall.
Becky blocked a kick and turned it into a Manhandle Slam, but Lyra kicked out at two.

Lyra escaped another Manhandle Slam and trapped Becky’s shoulders for the pin and the upset victory.

The two hugged and Becky raised Lyra’s arm, then left the ring to Lyra to celebrate her title win.

**********

I’m going to miss Becky having great title matches on the show every other week if this is the end of her NXT run, but this was another in a series of classics that she put on as NXT Women’s Champion.

WWE NXT live results: Triple threat contender’s match

After a huge episode last week, tonight’s NXT will set the stage for Halloween Havoc.

Halloween Havoc is a two-week event taking place on October 24 and October 31. Tonight, we’ll find out Ilja Dragunov’s NXT Championship challenger for Havoc. Carmelo Hayes, Baron Corbin, and Dijak are facing off in a triple threat number one contender’s match.

Dragunov won the NXT Championship from Hayes at No Mercy.

A “Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal” on tonight’s show determines which team will challenge Tony D’Angelo & Stacks for the NXT Tag Team titles at Halloween Havoc.

NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is defending her title against Lyra Valkyria at Halloween Havoc week one. Valkyria faces Tegan Nox one-on-one tonight.

Nathan Fraizer looks to be the next challenger for NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio after the two got into an altercation after Raw.

Last Tuesday, Cody Rhodes served as the special guest general manager of NXT. Rhodes has teased that he made one final decision as guest GM last week that will be revealed tonight.

Opening the show is the 10-team battle royal. The Creed Brothers get an entrance, but few others do. NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo are on perch overlooking the ring. The tag champs are seated at a table eating a pasta dish, while they watch the gimmick match that will determine their next challengers.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) win the Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal to become number one contenders

Chase U found themselves as one of the final two teams in the battle royal, setting up an immediate tag team match against Humberto Carillo & Angel Garza. Chase & Hudson go on to win the tag bout, after interference by the Creed Brothers.

If you have seen a battle royal, you have seen much of the early portion. Battle royal spots galore, with a few stories woven into the match. For example, the Creeds eliminated Gallus, which plays off a previous rivalry. The finish itself sets up the Creeds against Carillo & Garza as an upcoming program.

Another future match set up is Butch & Ridge Holland against Bronco Nima & Lucien Price. All four were tied up in a wad when Scyrpts jumped on top of the pile. Everybody went tumbling over the ropes, eliminated both teams. They all brawl at ringside as the match continues in the ring.

That left three teams remaining in the ring. Julius Creed dumped Humberto Carillo over the ropes, eliminating Carillo & Angel Garza. Or so it seemed. The referees apparently missed the elimination, as the refs were all busy trying to stop the brawl at ringside. Garza & Carillo rush back in and throw out the Creeds. The refs actually see that elimination, and the Creeds are out.

The final two teams came down to the Chase & Hudson against Garza & Carillo. With two teams remaining, now the match becomes a traditional tag match. Out comes Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne with pom poms, acting as cheerleaders for Chase U.

The tag bout goes through a commercial break, and Carillo & Garza are in control after the break. They work over Chase, and Hudson is also knocked off the apron. When Chase finally creates some separation, Hudson is not there for the tag, as Hudson is still selling on the floor. Hudson would eventually get back in the corner for a hot tag.

Hudson cleans house after the hot tag. Hudson is on fire. Chase recovers and joins in the fun, while flying back into the ring with a high cross. Chase is on a roll, but Hudson is given a DDT on the floor. Chase fights on, but he is now outnumbered by the other two.

The Creed Brothers run down to ringside. Brutus Creed distracts the referee while Julius Creed interferes in the match. Julius pulls Carillo out of the ring. That allows Chase to cradle Garza for a pinfall. Chase U is victorious. They go on to challenge the tag champs at Halloween Havoc.

Blair Davenport challenges Gigi Dolan to a match at Halloween Havoc.

Lexis King is the focus of another vignette. He talked about how wrestlers in the locker room would tell him they loved his father Brian Pillman. King said he lied to them, saying he loved his father too. King in reality doubts he love him. King says he is no one’s shadow. This is the start of his career, not the continuation of someone else’s career. King vows to make his name bigger than his father. King debuts next week.

Triple threat match becomes a fatal four way … or so it seems

Carmelo Hayes, in street clothes and a leather jacket, comes to ring for a monologue. Hardly anyone ever gets to finish an in-ring monologue in NXT, so Hayes faces several interruptions. Hayes is bragging about him being in the ring last week with John Cena and Undertaker. Hayes is supposed to be a babyface, but there is a subtle heel element in the way he brags.

Baron Corbin, also wearing a leather jacket, interrupts Hayes. Corbin accuses Hayes of being a fanboy. They bicker about it, with Corbin basically accusing Hayes of marking out for the legends. Their bickering is interrupted by Dijak, which leads to even more bickering.

Dijak storms the ring, and he too is wearing a leather jacket. Dijak bickers with Hayes and Corbin. Suddenly, NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov appears on the Titantron, and he announces the triple threat match set for later in now a fatal four way. Dragunov then reveals the fourth possible contender.

Out comes Trick Williams, and Hayes is in shock. He is shook. His associate is now going against him in a number one contender’s fatal four way. Williams comes out wearing a letterman jacket. Although it was not completely leather, it does have leather sleeves. Join the meeting of the leather. Williams jacket was way too small for him, though.

Dijak and Corbin try to pit Williams and Hayes against each other. Williams is accused of stabbing Hayes in the back. Corbin jumps Williams, and Dijak jumps Hayes. Williams and Hayes throw the other two out of the ring. There is a tease Hayes will turn on Williams, but they instead embrace in a united front.

After all this, turns out the fatal four way would become a triple threat again. In a swerve after a Tonya Harding angle later on, Williams would be taken out of the match by an unknown assailant.

Tiffany Stratton and Fallon Henley have words in a locker room skit

Karmen Petrovic defeated Jaida Parker in a first round match of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Petrovic submitted Parker to win the match. Petrovic advances to the next round, where Petrovic meets Lola Vice.

In an in-set promo, Petrovic says she is bringing her 23 years of combat experience along with her 3rd degree black belt. Petrovic also had a sword for her entrance.

They tried, but the match probably went too long. Arguably, they are probably not ready for a live match on national television. Both still show a lot of promise.

In a locker room skit, Natalya surprised Tegan Nox. Nattie will be in Nox’s corner for her match tonight, just like Nox had Natte’s back last night on Raw.

Lyra Valkyria defeated Tegan Nox (with Natalya)

Valkyria pinned Nox to win the match. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Piper Niven came down to ringside just before the finish. This was a much better match than the previous women’s bout. Levels above even.

The match goes through a commercial break. When Green & Niven come down to ringside, Nox leaves the ring to briefly argue with them alongside Nattie. Nox then gets back into the ring, and she runs through some spots before Valkyria hits her with a spin kick. Valkyria then covers Nox for a pinfall.

In a post-match promo, Valkyria cuts a promo on NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. Valkyria is clearly the next contender for the title. Lynch appears on the video screen, and Lynch responds to Valkyria. Great promo by Lynch. She welcomes Valkyria to “the big time.” They meet next week in the main event of the first week of Halloween Havoc.

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes bicker in a locker room skit, but they make some amends. However, there is tension heading in their match tonight.

An announcement plugged ticket going on sale for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. I could not think of a worse time to visit the Middle East than right now.

Gigi Dolan responds to Davenport’s challenge from earlier. Dolan ups the stakes, making it a “Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal.” Dolan then spins the wheel and makes the deal. The wheel stops on a “light out match,” thus setting up a gimmick match for Halloween Havoc.

Von Wagner is focus of a vignette showing him doing physical therapy. Wagner in storyline is recovering from the injury angle weeks ago. Mr. Stone was helping to motivate a depressed Wagner.

Kiana James, who has a new entrance routine, enters the soundstage for a grudge match set up last week.

Shotzi defeated Kiana James

Shotzi pinned James, thanks in part to interference by Roxanne Perez.

The match runs through a commercial break. There was a wacky DDT spot on the apron, and thankfully no one was injured doing it.

Just before they go home, Roxanne Perez appears at ringside. She goes over to James’ loaded bag. Perez pulls out a brick from the bag, but Perez puts drops the brick back into the bag as James snatches the bag away.

Perez is on the apron arguing with the referee about the loaded bag. Shotzi takes the bag away from James, and Shotzi waffles James with the bag. Shotzi then does an Eddy Guerrero spot where she tosses the loaded bag to James, and Shotzi takes a phantom bump. The ref turns around to see James holding the bag, and the ref has a tug-o-war over the bag with the ref.

The ref takes the bag away, and James then runs shoulder first in the ring post. Shotzi leaps off the top rope with a back senton, and Shotzi covers James for a three count.

Akira Tozawa is in a wacky skit with Oro Mensah and Lash Legend, who are the phone with Noam Dar. Jakara Jackson is out with an injury, and Dar is taking care of her. Meanwhile, Tozawa wants it known he is looking for Dar.

Next up is a Tonya Harding angle. Trick Williams was ambushed, and he is down selling his knee like Nancy Kerrigan. Carmelo Hayes is there to check on Williams, and Hayes acts like he is super concerned, but he supposedly does not know who jumped Williams.

Reporter Kelly Kincaid offers an update after a commercial break. Williams was taken to a local hospital, and he is out of the main event. The fatal four way is now once again a triple threat match.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio. Nathan Frazier interrupts and starts a brawl with Dom. They brawl around the backstage area. They brawl their way on the set and into the ring. Frazier is getting the better of Dom, and Frazier sets up for Phoenix Splash. Rhea Ripley runs down and pulls Dom out of the ring, as “Mami” saves her man.

A skit with Shotzi and Roxanne Perez sets up another Spin the Wheel gimmick. Perez spins the wheel, and it stops on “Devil’s playground match.” That stip is added to the grudge match at Halloween Havoc between Perez and Kiana James.

Arianna Grace, dressed like she won a beauty pageant, cuts a promo in the ring. Grace, wearing a sash that reads “MISS NXT,” talks about Jakara Jackson being injured. Grace wants to “gracefully” accept her bye in the tournament now that Jackson is out. The bookers have other ideas.

Arianna Grace defeated Brinley Reece in first round match of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Grace cheated with an eye rake just before the finish. Grace then suplexed Reece, and she pinned her to advance. Grace now moves on the semifinals, where Grace meets Kelani Jordan next week at Halloween Havoc.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Bron Breakker, and Mr. Stone walks in to interrupt Breakker. Stone cuts a promo on Breakker over Von Wagner’s condition. Breakker laughs at Stone, and that angers Stone even more.

Breakker dares Stone to do something about it. Stone blurts out a challenge for a singles match at Halloween Havoc. Breakker accepts the challenge, and Breakker threatens to put Stone in the hospital. So, it’s Stone against Breakker at Halloween Havoc.

Carmelo Hayes defeated Dijak and Baron Corbin in a number one contender’s triple threat match

Hayes pinned Dijak to win the match. Good match, and easily the best bout on tonight’s card.

The early portion of the bout is Hayes basically having a handicap mach against the two larger men. Dijak and Corbin eventually tangle with each other. Hayes still attacks them both like he is a David facing two Goliaths.

After a commercial break, the match is more typical of a triple threat, with more fighting among all three. Several near falls along the way, as they run through a bunch of high spots.

Hayes teases his finisher, but Corbin pulls Hayes down off the top rope. Corbin gives Hayes a Spicolli Driver on the floor. Even more near falls as they get back in the ring, and several were really good near falls. They build to a Tower of Doom, in which Corbin does an avalanche German on Dijak while Hayes powerbombs Corbin.

Closing moments were great, as Dijak went for Feast Your Eyes. Corbin counters to deliver End of Days on Dijak. Before Corbin can capitalize, Hayes leaps in for Nothing But Net on Corbin. Hayes then covers Dijak and hooks a leg for the deciding pinfall.

Hayes becomes number one contender, and he goes on to face Dragunov in a title match in the main event at Halloween Havoc in two week’s time.

Lyra Valkyria is seen watching the match from a monitor in a locker room. Valkyria takes a picture down from her locker of her with Becky Lynch. Valkyria rips up the picture, and Valkyria vows to win the women’s title next week.

Jade Cargill then appears on the screen, and Cargill points to her wristwatch as the show comes to a close. Her time is soon.

WWE NXT live results: John Cena, Paul Heyman, Cody Rhodes, Asuka appear

A loaded-up edition of WWE NXT takes place tonight.

With the show going head-to-head against AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday, WWE has announced a stacked card for tonight’s NXT. It includes appearances by John Cena, Paul Heyman, Cody Rhodes, and Asuka. It’s also been teased that The Undertaker will be showing up tonight.

Cena and Heyman will be in opposite corners for a match between Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker. Cena will be in Hayes’ corner, while Breakker will have Heyman by his side.

Rhodes is set to make a “special announcement” when he appears tonight.

Asuka will be in action on the show, taking on Roxanne Perez. It’s Asuka’s first NXT match in four years.

Butch, Ridge Holland & Tyler Bate vs. Gallus in a Pub Rules match has also been announced.

The first 30 minutes of tonight’s show is airing commercial-free. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Opening the show is the entrance of Cody Rhodes. Wearing a suit and tie, Rhodes enters the soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando. The live studio audience sings along to his theme song.

Rhodes began his monologue by addressing the audience, doing his line where he asks what we want to talk about. He goes on to say he never thought he would be in a NXT ring, but here he is.

Cody moves on to his announcement, or rather announcements — plural. Rhodes talks about tournaments in NXT, which leads to him referring to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The studio audience chants “DUSTY” at Cody, just before Cody announces the Dusty Classic is coming back.

Rhodes has one other announcement. Shawn Michaels made Rhodes the guest general manager. Vic Joseph on commentary says Rhodes now has “the pencil,” which is an insider term for being the booker.

Out comes NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov to join Cody in the ring. Dragunov apologizes for interrupting Rhodes, but Dragunov wanted to welcome Rhodes to NXT. Dragunov puts over Rhodes, and Dragunov basically says he wants to be like Rhodes.

Interrupting them is WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio. Dom cuts a promo putting himself over while he is heavily booed by the studio audience. Dom insults Dragunov, and Mysterio says he is “the one true” champion. Mysterio then insults Cody. Bad idea to insult the booker.

Dragunov responds by saying his father worked in prison, so he knows how to “turn a barking dog into a sweet little puppy.” Rhodes whispers something in Dragunov’s ear, just before Dom challenges Dragunov to a NXT title match tonight.

Rhodes says what he is hearing is Dom does not want to put his own title on the line. That comment led to Ripley interjecting to say Dom has carried WWE on his back for the past year. Dragunov cut off Ripley, and Dragunov accepts the challenge to a NXT Championship match. Rhodes make it official, and the match is set for later on.

But Rhodes is not done yet, as he also has one last impromptu announcement. Rhodes adds LA Knight as the guest referee tonight in the NXT title match, to counteract Judgment Day.

Kelly Kincaid is backstage as a roving reporter. She reports those in the NXT women’s locker room have all gathered around the monitor to watch the next match.

Shotzi Blackheart joins Booker T and Vic Joseph at the announce desk for guest commentary on the next bout. Blackheart announces she is set to return as the host for Halloween Havoc, and Scarlett is also joining Blackheart as a co-host.

Asuka defeated Roxanne Perez

Asuke pinned Perez in a good TV match. Perez got to shine at times. She was going for a cradle when Asuka trapped her in the Asuka Lock. Perez rises to her feet, and she escapes the submission hold. However, Perez is hit with some kicks. Asuks measure for one final kick, and that drops Perez. Asuka then covered Perez for a pinfall.

In a show of respect, Asuka bows to Perez before leaving the ring. Perez is then jumped by Kiana James in a sneak attack from behind. Blackheart leaves the announce desk to make the save. Blackheart sends James packing, and Blackheart checks on Perez.

Butch, Tyler Bate & Ridge Holland defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey, Wolfgang & Joe Coffey) in a “Pub Rules” six-man tag team match

Bate pinned Joe Coffey, after Coffey took a Shield powerbomb through a table. Wild brawling throughout with plenty of weapons. The babyface team wrestled in their usual ring gear, while Gallus dressed in jeans and t-shirts like this was a bunkhouse match. Gallus also taped their fists.

This was basically what used to be called a “hardcore match,” where weapons are littered around the ring for no good reason other than to be used in combat.

For the “pub” part, there was a table set up on whiskey barrels like a bar. Gallus all three lift Butch and put him through the table, just before the show cuts to its first commercial break.

They fight through a split-screen break, and the show returns to full screen with a standoff. That led into a slugfest. The babyface trio all do the Sheamus forearm spot to Gallus. Less weapons are used when the show returns from the break.

Wolfgang goes for a flip dive over the ropes, and he hits his back hard on the apron. The babyface trio did a triple submission spot. Moments later, Butch accidentally hit Bate with a kick. Wolgang then powerslams Butch, and Mark Coffey piles on top of Wolfgang as they both cover Butch. In flew Bate with a swanton to break up the pin.

Another table is set up in the ring by the babyfaces, but the heels would seemingly be the first to put someone through it. Joe Coffey puts Butch on the table, and Coffey leaves the ring to retrieve a mug of beer. Coffey gets back into the ring with the beer, and he is standing over Butch when Bate makes a save. Bate takes the mug away from Coffey, and Bate hits Coffey with the mug. Glass shatters, and Butch snaps one of Coffey’s fingers. The babyface trio then do the Shield powerbomb, as they put Coffey through a table. Bate then covers Coffey for a three count.

A video package hypes Becky Lynch defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Lyra Valkyria at Halloween Havoc.

McKenzie Mitchell is interviewing Valkyria backstage when they are interrupted by Tegan Nox. God forbid anyone finish an interview or monologue on NXT. Nox wants another title shot at Valkyria, and Nox says Valkyria’s title shot can wait. Valkyria cuts a promo on Nox, basically punking her out.

Jone Cena enters the soundstage like the superstar he is, and it is very surreal to see Cena on an episode of NXT. Of course, his promo is interrupted by someone, but Cena gets a monologue before Bron Breakker interrupts.

Cena puts over being in NXT, and he puts over NXT, along with putting over the NXT crowd. The studio audience thanks him with a chant, and someone in the crowd also did a dueling chant of “Cena sucks” when the rest of the audience chanted “thank you Cena!”

Cena begins talking about being in Carmelo Hayes’ corner later tonight, and out comes Breakker to interrupt the monologue. The studio audience chant at Breakker, telling him he sucks. Breakker is apparently delusional, as he says the crowd is there to see him, not Cena.

Breakker is cutting a promo on Cena, as the studio audience chants “bulls**t” at Breakker. That is bleeped out on USA Network.

Cena takes the high road, wishing Breakker luck in his match tonight. Cena extends his arm for a handshake. Breakker looks down at Cena’s hand, and Breakker looks back up just before attacking Cena.

Breakker is drops Cena with punches, and Breakker measures for a spear. Cena avoids the spear, and he lifts Breakker in a fireman’s carry. Breakker escapes and hightails it out of the ring.

NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo meet up with Cody Rhodes in a backstage skit. The Family pitches an idea to Cody for a 10-team battle royal. The final two teams remaining in the battle royal would then have a tag match. The overall winners would  go on to face The Family at Halloween Havoc in a tag title match. Rhodes likes the idea, and he books the battle royal for next week. Rhodes also gives it a name — the “Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal.”

Baron Corbin, in a backstage interview, cuts a promo about the NXT title match later tonight. Thankfully, the theme song for LA Knight interrupts Corbin, and he stops talking. LA Knight then enters the soundstage.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio (with Rhea Ripley) to retain the NXT Championship, with LA Knight as guest referee

Dragunov pinned Mysterio to retain the NXT title. Knight pretty much called it down the middle, until he got involved by thwarting interference by Judgment Day. Baron Corbin and Dijak would also get involved in a post-match angle.

When Dom got in trouble, Ripley jumps on the apron to distract Knight. That allowed Dom to cut off Dragunov with a thumb in the eye. Dragunov is down selling as the show cuts to a commercial break.

Dragunov makes a comeback when the show returns from the split-screen break. Meanwhile, the studio audience chants “YEAH” in reference to Knight. Dragunov takes a hard chop from Dom, and that awakens a beast. Dragunov chops down Dom.

Dragunov dodges a 619, but takes the move on a second attempt by Dom for a near fall. Dragunov fires up again, leading to a superplex. Dom rolled out to apron as Dragunov teased doing one of his finishers. Dom gives Dragunov a DDT on the apron, but Dragunov fights back yet again. Dragunov powerbombs Dom, and Dragunov follows up with the H-Bomb finisher.

Dragunov is going to deliver his other finisher when Finn Balor and Damian Priest run in. Instead of calling for a DQ, LA Knight fights off Judgment Day. Ripley goes to hit Dragunov with a belt shot, but Dragunov ducks. Trick Williams runs down to grab Ripley off the apron. Meanwhile, Dragunov levels Dom with Torpedo Moskau. Dragunov then scores the deciding pinfall.

Corbin comes out to confront Dragunov. Before Corbin can get in the ring, Dijak jumps Dragunov and hits the champ with a sneak attack. Dijak leaves Dragunov lying in the ring, and Dijak then confronts Corbin. Dijak apparently believes his is the next challenger because he attacked first. Not sure that is how that works, but whatever.

John Cena is in the locker room talking with Carmelo Hayes. In walks Trick Williams, and he introduces himself to Cena. Hayes tries to apologize to Williams, and they do some comedy with Cena. Willaims does not look happy as Hayes leaves. Cena asks Williams if he is good, and Williams asks Cena when he knew it what his time. Cena then takes Williams under his wing to talk.

Paul Heyman is seen talking with Ava.

Arriving to the building in a white SUV is Jade Cargill. She exits the vehicle, and she is greeted by Shawn Michaels, and they enter the building.

Baron Corbin confronts Cody Rhodes, and Corbin wants Rhodes to book a Corbin against Dragunov in a title match at Halloween Havoc. Rhodes instead books a number one contender’s triple threat match for next week with Corbin against Dijak and the winner of Hayes-Breakker later on.

Lola Vice (with Elektra Lopez) defeated Dani Palmer in a first round match in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Vice pinned Palmer to advance in the tournament. Palmer had countered a triangle to have Vice in a pinning combination. Vice kicked out and then booted Palmer with a kick. A three count followed, and Vice is moving on in the tournament.

Thea Hail rejoins the class at Chase U, but Hail is joined by Jacy Jayne. Hail and Jayne interrupt the lecture by talking among themselves. Andre Chase flips out on the students and Jayne. She in turn announces that Chase and Duke Hudson will be part of the 10-team battle royal. This skit seemed like a way to get all of these people on an already loaded show.

Paul Heyman is hyping up Bron Breakker with a pep talk that only Heyman can do. As a pumped up Breakker leaves, Heyman commands his cellphone to call Roman Reigns.

Lexis King (Briam Pillman Jr.) is the focus of another vignette. King is watching old wrestling clips, which includes a bunch of Brian Pillman highlights. King heels on his father, and King talks about being unable to escape the business that inflicted so much pain on him. He will now inflict pain on it. King also says he is nobody’s “junior,” and King says he will take the name of the man that actually raised him. Thus the name change to Lexis King.

Carmelo Hayes (with John Cena) defeated Bron Breakker (with Paul Heyman)

Hayes pinned Breakker, after Cena thwarted interference from a run-in by Solo Sikoa. Undertaker returns as his “American Badass” character, complete with motorcycle, in a post-match angle.

Heyman does the ring introduction for Breakker as only Heyamn can. Hayman dubs him “Bad Ass” Bron Breakker. That would play into to the closing angle after the match.

Hayes was a house of fire at the start. Breakker was reeling as the show cuts to a commercial break. Back-and-forth after the break as they trade near falls.

They go for a high spot off the top rope, maybe a Frakensteiner, but they botch it. They try to sell it like a modified facebuster. More near falls after other high spots.

The fight spilled outside the ring, and Breakker picks up the a section of the ring steps. Cena takes the steps from Breakker, and Cena boots him in the gut. Solo Sikos runs in, and Cena smacks him with the section of steps. Cena and Sikoa brawl their way up the ramp to the backstage area.

Hayes gives Breakker a codebreaker on the floor, and Hayes goes to follow up by climbing the turnbuckles. Hayes leaps off with Nothing But Net, and Hayes covers Breakker for a pinfall.

Breakker gets his heat back after the match by spearing Hayes. Breakker stands over Hayes and proclaims their is only one “bad ass” in NXT (which plays off the Heyman intro from earlier). When Breakker utters those words, a gong sounds and the lights flicker. A motorcycle is heard cranking up, and “American Badass” by Kid Rock plays inside the soundstage.

Undertaker rides out on a chopper. The “American Badass” is back on his motorcycle. Undertaker gets face-to-face with Breakker in the ring. Breakker calls him an “old timer,” before also telling ‘Taker there is only one bad ass here. The studio audience chants at Breakker, cautioning Breakker that he “f’ed up” with that.

Undertaker gets on a house microphone to tell Breakker he will be a special talent one day … but that “ain’t today.” With that, ‘Taker dropped Breakker with a right hand. Breakker then takes a chokeslam, and Undertaker stands over a prone Breakker. The studio audience chants “holy s**t,” and then they explode into an Undertaker chant.

‘Taker gives Breakker a piece of advice. There is a always a bigger, badder bad ass waiting around the corner. Breakker just met the baddest of them all. Undertaker stands tall as the show goes off the air. What year is it?

Not sure I have ever seen any promotion hot shot a territory like WWE did with NXT tonight. It made for a fun show, but the legends and the main roster stars mostly overshadowed the NXT roster.

WWE NXT live results: The fallout from No Mercy

NXT moves on from No Mercy and starts the build to Halloween Havoc tonight.

A new North American Champion was crowned when Trick Williams defeated Dominik Mysterio last Saturday. Tonight, Dominik gets his rematch for the title. If Dominik doesn’t win the championship back, he’ll have to answer to Rhea Ripley. Ripley has warned Dominik not to come home without gold.

It’s the start of a new era for NXT with Ilja Dragunov as champion. Dragunov won the title from Carmelo Hayes at No Mercy.

Becky Lynch retained her NXT Women’s Championship at No Mercy by defeating Tiffany Stratton in an extreme rules match. Despite not currently being cleared to compete due to an arm laceration, Lynch is scheduled to kick off tonight’s show.

The 2023 NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament begins tonight. The winner of the tournament earns a future title shot.

After Gallus cost him a chance to become Heritage Cup Champion, Butch teams up with Tyler Bate against Mark Coffey & Wolfgang tonight. A grudge match between Gigi Dolin and Blair Davenport is also set. Dolin vs. Davenport was originally supposed to happen last week, but Davenport instead took Dolin out in a backstage attack.

The show begins with a recap highlighting NXT No Mercy from last Saturday.

NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch opens the show with her entrance to the soundstage. “The Man has come around to N-Bex-T,” declares the champ. The live studio audience chants “N-X-T.”

Lynch mentions she is not medically cleared to wrestle after her successful title defense at No Mercy. Lynch notes her opponent, Tiffany Stratton is also not cleared to wrestle tonight because on Saturday, as Lynch puts it, they “beat the ever-loving piss out of each other.”

Lynch says she would not have it any other way, as she wants to give her all when defending the title. She goes on to basically talk about how she is a fighting champion, and she is eyeing night one of the Halloween Havoc special for another title defense.

Lyra Valkyria suddenly interrupts Lynch’s monologue, and Valkyria gets in the ring with Lynch. Valkyria tells a story from June 2014, when Lynch made her NXT debut. That is the first episode of NXT that Valkyria watched, and she began training to wrestle that week. Valkyria says Lynch’s debut help “kick start” Valkyria’s career.

Valkyria asks Lynch is she know what she mean to Irish wrestling fans. Valkyria keeps putting Lynch over, mentioning that Lynch grew up not from from where Valkyria is from, and Lynch went on to be one of the first women to main event WrestleMania. Fast forward, and Valkyria was standing beside Lynch in the main event of No Mercy.

Valkyria then says she is also wondering what it would feel like to stand face-to-face with the champ. Lynch begins to agree with Valkyria when they are interrupted by Indi Hartwell.

Hartwell comes to the ring bragging on herself, and Hartwell notes she never lost the NXT Women’s Championship. Lynch is not the only one that can come home. Now, Hartwell is back for something she never lost.

Yet another interruption as out comes Roxanne Perez. She is booed by the studio audience. Perez cuts a great promo challenging Lynch, and Perez vows to take back her title at Halloween Havoc.

This all leads to Lynch booking a triple threat match tonight with Lynch on guest commentary. The winner of the three-way gets a title shot on the first night of Halloween Havoc.

A video package hypes the participants in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Tyler Bate & Butch defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang with Joe Coffey)

Bate pinned Mark Coffey, as Bate and Butch get a rather dominate win. Gallus jump the babyface duo after the match, leading to Ridge Holland running in for a save.

Bate and Butch clear the ring and stand tall as the show cuts to a commercial break. The show returns with Bate in trouble, after Joe Coffey interferes by hitting Bate with a cheap shot. Hot tag to Butch, and he cleans house.

Butch drops Mark Coffey with a shining wizard, and Butch pounds him forearms doing a Sheamus spot. Butch then does a plancha to outside on Joe Coffey. As Butch gets back into the ring, he is cut off by Mark Coffey. However, Bate is able to soon tag in and come to the aid of Butch.

Butch moonsaults off the middle turnbuckle to the floor on Wolfgang. Moments later, Bate dives over the top rope on Wolfgang. Butch tags back in for the finish.

Butch and Bate partner up for a double team hip toss/powerbomb combo. Bate then covers Mark Coffey for a three count. Immediately after the pinfall, in comes Joe Coffey to get Gallus’ heat back. Wolfgang and Mark Coffey join in, and they outnumber Bate and Butch. Gallus is administering a beatdown when Ridge Holland runs down to even the odds.

Holland helps Bate and Butch in clearing the ring of Gallus. This seems to clearly set up a six-man tag match.

New NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov comes to the ring for his first live appearance on television since winning the title at No Mercy. Dragunov addresses the audience.

Dragunov puts over the former champion, saying Carmelo Hayes brought the fight to him at No Mercy. Dragunov can barely stand, but he stands. Even in pain, Dragunov stands before the audience as their champion. He promises to take the title to another level, and vows to protect his promise with his life.

“Long live the czar,” Dragunov declares just before he is interrupted by another new champion. Wouldn’t you know it, someone interrupts.

New NXT North American Champion Trick Williams get in the ring to confront Dragunov, while the audience chants “WHOOP THAT TRICK!”

Williams thanks Dragunov for him showing Williams something in himself when they wrestled several weeks ago. Williams now has gold and says he is only going up from here. Dragunov tells Williams that he is proud of him. Dragunov drops Williams catchphrase, and the studio audience pops.

Out comes former NXT champ Carmelo Hayes, who limps out to the ring to confront the two new champs. Hayes is upset with Williams for thanking Dragunov. Hayes claims he has encouraged Williams for much longer, and Hayes declares he is proud of Williams.

Hayes tells Williams that winning the title is one thing, but defending it as another. Hayes tries to defend his comment when Dragunov interjects. Dragunov then bows out so Williams and Hayes can talk. Before they can hash things out, Dominik Mysterio is out to interrupt.

Williams insults Mysterio then jabs about “Mami.” Mysterio and Williams bicker when Hayes says he was Williams’ back tonight. Hayes says he will be in Williams corner tonight. Mysterio responds by asking Williams if he is still in Hayes’ shadow. Williams then declines Hayes’ offer to have him in the corner. Hayes says he won the title by himself, and he will defend it on his own.

Lyra Valkyria defeated Indi Hartwell and Roxanne Perez in a number one contender’s tripe threat match

Valkyria pinned Hartwell to win the match. Kiana James runs in just for the deciding pinfall, and James attacks Perez.

The match goes through a commercial break. All three got to shine at times. Valkyria especially got to shine in the later stage of the match. She is knocked out of the ring.

Perez has Hartwell rolled up for a pin when Kiana James runs in to pull Perez out of the ring. James attacks Perez, but James eats a superkick from Lynch at ringside. Meanwhile, Valkyria recovers and climbs the turnbuckles. Valkyria leaps off the top rope with a Superfly splash on Hartwell, and Valkyria hooks a leg for a pinfall.

After the match, Lynch gets in the ring with Valkyria when out comes Tegan Nox. She is Lynch’s next challenger, facing the “The Man” on Raw this coming Monday night. The winner of the match defends against Valkyria on night one of Halloween Havoc.

Bron Breakker meets up with Carmelo Hayes in a backstage skit. Breakker is playing mind games with Hayes, trying to lure Hayes to the dark side of the force.

Baron Corbin confronts NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov in a backstage skit where Corbin vows to win the NXT title. In doing so, Corbin insults and belittles Dragunov, which leaves the champ seething in anger.

Gigi Dolan pinned Blair Davenport

Dolan pinned Davenport with a roll up in a grudge match.

This match was supposed to happen last week, but they shot an angle where Davenport attacked Dolan. In turn, Dolan returns the favor by jumping Davenport before the bell in there match this week.

Dolan was a house of fire from the start, until Davenport cuts her off. Dolan eventually fights back. The fight spills outside the ring as they brawl around the announce desk. Davenport grabs a metal folding chair, but Dolan is able to dodge a chair shot.

Dolan fires up as they get back into the ring. After a near fall, Dolan rolls out to retrieve the folding chair. Dolan goes to swing the chair, but the referee steps in. Davenport is able to get the chair, and she goes to swing it, but the ref stops her by grabbing the chair. Dolan then rolls up Davenport with a schoolgirl for a pinfall.

Davenport gets her heat back by fishhooking the ref, as Davenport screams that this is not over.

McKenzie Mitchell is trying to interview Kiana James, who is on the phone with someone. James tells them she is wiring money, and it will be worth their time. Sounds like a good old fashioned Harley Race “take the money” bounty. This leads to James revealing that Asuka is returning to NXT for a match next week.

James cuts a promo on Roxanne Perez, saying she will not give Perez another chance to win the title. That is reason for the run-in earlier. James then reveals Asuka as the opponent for Perez next Tuesday. If Perez wins, then she faces James in a match.

Participants in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament are introduced in front of the live studio audience. Those being introduced include Lola Vice, Dani Palmer, Arianna Grace, Jaida Parker, Jakara Jackson, Karmen Petrovic, and the two women kicking off the tournament — Kelani Jordan and Izzi Dame.

Kelani Jordan defeated Izzi Dame in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Jordan pinned Dame after a split-leg moonsault in the first tournament match.

Duke Hudson and Andre Chase run into Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne as the two women are warming up backstage for their match. Chase asked if he and Duke could help Thea Hail with her match tonight. Hail scoffs at the notion, but Jacy Jayne surprisingly things it is a good idea. Jayne even leads them in a Chase U chant. Odd indeed.

Coming back from a commercial break, another vignette airs teasing the debut of Brian Pillman Jr.

Thea Hail & Jacy Jayne (with Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) defeated Elektra Lopez & Lola Vice

Hail submitted Lopez with a kimura. Hail and Jayne looked pretty dominate as a team in winning, as Chase and Hudson look on.

Carmelo Hayes says he had a phone call with John Cena. Hayes reveals that Cena will be in Hayes’ corner next week, when Hayes faces Bron Breakker in a match on NXT next Tuesday.

Dominik Mysterio defeated NXT North American Champion Trick Williams to win the title

Mysterio pinned Williams after interference from Judgment Day. JD McDonagh also ran in. There were a lot of smoke and mirrors, but it was still an entertaining match. WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley was in Dom’s corner the entire match. Finn Balor and Damian Priest would emerge later in the bout.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. After returning from the break, out comes Damian Priest and Finn Balor of Judgment Day. They were seemingly there to motivate Dom, as Ripley had also told him to bring the title back home or do not come home at all.

Dom is able to work over Williams, only for Williams to soon fight back. Ripley slides the women’s title belt into the ring, and Williams bends over to pick it up. Dom rushes in to DDT Williams on the title belt, and Dom slides the belt out of the ring. Yet, Williams gets a shoulder up to break a count.

Dom dials up a 619, and Dom goes to follow up with a frog splash. Williams gets his knees up, and a moment later he delivers a jumping knee strike. JD McDonagh suddenly runs in, and he is sent packing by Williams.

Priest slides his Money in the Bank briefcase into the ring, and Dom goes to use it as a weapon. The referee plays tries to get the briefcase from Dom. The briefcase was a red herring, as Balor jumps on the apron and hits Williams with a belt shot. Williams falls face down on the mat, and Dom follows up with a frog splash. Dom then covers Williams for a three count, and the former champ has regained his title.

Paul Heyman cuts in with a pre-taped promo that closes the show. Heyman announces that WWE Champion Roman Reigns will be in Bron Breakker’s corner in his match against Carmelo Hayes, who has John Cena in his corner.

Next week is a super loaded show on NXT, in what is possibly the most star-studded lineup in the history of the NXT brand.

WWE NXT live results: No Mercy go-home show

WWE finishes setting the stage for No Mercy on tonight’s go-home edition of NXT.

NXT’s Global Heritage Invitational concludes with Group A winner Butch facing Group B winner Joe Coffey in the finals. The winner advances to challenge Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup at No Mercy this Saturday.

Carmelo Hayes is putting his NXT Championship on the line against Ilja Dragunov at Saturday’s event. Dragunov earned the title shot with a victory over Wes Lee. Tonight, Hayes and Dragunov meet for a contract signing.

We’ll hear from NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Tiffany Stratton ahead of their title match. Stratton is getting her shot to win back the title in an extreme rules match at No Mercy.

Bron Breakker vs. Baron Corbin has been made official for No Mercy. Corbin is facing Josh Briggs on tonight’s show.

Eddy Thorpe vs. Dijak in a strap match and Gigi Dolin vs. Blair Davenport are also part of the lineup for tonight’s NXT. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Cold open, meaning no introductory video package aside from the “Together” montage. The show opens live from the soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando with the finals of a weeks-long tournament.

Butch defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) in the Global Heritage International tournament final

Butch pinned Coffey in a great opener. They capped off the tourney with a strong match. Butch now moves on to challenging Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup at No Mercy.

Butch goes to work on an arm. He targets the arm with stomps. Wolfgang interferes and hits Butch with a right hand cheap shot. Butch soon fights back, and he does a dive that wipes out Wolfgang & Mark Coffey. The Gallus cornermen are soon ejected by the referee, just as the show cuts to its first commercial break.

The wrestle through the a split-screen break, and they are fighting in the ropes as the show returns. They end up on the apron traded blows. Coffey gets DDT’d on the apron, but Coffey recovers rather quickly. Coffey springboards into a high cross as Booker T mistakenly calls him “Joe Gacy” on commentary. That clip might make it on Botchamania.

The battle continues in the ring. Coffey delivers a Glasgow Sendoff, and he winds up for a lariat finisher. Butch counters with an enzuigiri, only to eat a lariat. Butch plays possum like Bret Hart, and Butch suddenly pops up to grap Coffey in an armbar. Butch goes for his finger break spot, but Coffey escapes.

Coffey with a powerbomb, Glasgow Sendoff, and his discus lariat finisher. Butch gets a shoulder up for a near fall. The fight soon spills outside the ring, and Coffey crashes into the ring steps. Butch capitalizes with the Bitter End, and he covers Coffey for pinfall.

In winning, Butch earns a shot at Noam Dar’s Heritage Cup on Saturday at No Mercy.

McKenzie Mitchell informs NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio  that he will defend his title on Saturday against the winner of a triple threat match on tonight’s show. Mysterio was unaware and caught off guard, as that interfered with his plans to sit at home with “Mami” and eat “chicken tendies.” I can understand his frustration.

NXY Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Stacks are joined Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza for a skit at a restaurant. To be continued later in the show, as other teams are coming to the sit-down.

Trick Williams defeated Joe Gacy (with Ava)

Some rope running to start out the match. With the soundstage as a backdrop, the rope running reminded me of studio wrestling of a bygone era. There was also a chinlock, furthering the nostalgia. Likewise, this match was short like a lot of studio matches.

Gacy got to pummel Williams some, but Williams soon has a few move comeback that included a Booker T-style leg lariat. Gacy tries to cut him off, only to eat a running knee strike. Williams then covers Gacy for a three count.

Kelly Kincaid joins Williams in the ring afterwards for a post-match interview. Williams says he is ambidextrous because he can “whoop ass with both hands.” Williams is asked about Carmelo Hayes defending his NXT title, and Williams predicts Hayes is retaining on Saturday. Williams concludes by saying he is looking for a championship of his own.

Blair Davenport threatens Gigi Dolan in a backstage interview.

Baron Corbin defeated Josh Briggs (with Brooks Jensen & Fallon Henley)

Corbin pinned Briggs in another short match. Corbin is being build up for a match on Saturday with Bron Breakker, and Corbin cuts a promo on Breakker after the win over Briggs. Breakker confronts Corbin, leading to a post-match pull-apart scuffle.

Briggs was looking strong, until a Corbin uses a dirty tactic to turn the tide. Corbin uses the referee as human shield, and then he cheap shots Briggs. Corbin with a flying clothesline followed by End of Days. Corbin then hooks a leg for a pinfall on Briggs.

Corbin cuts a promo on Breakker after the match, and out comes Breakker to interrupt. Breakker marches into the ring and starts a fight with Corbin. There is a pull-apart brawl, further heating up their match on Saturday.

Trick Willaims is seen walking into Shawn Michael’s office.

A video package hypes up the NXT Women’s Championship match at No Mercy, where Becky Lynch defends against former champion Tiffany Stratton in a no hold barred match.

OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima with Scrypts) defeated Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Price & Nima look promising, while Hank & Tank are really good together. Tank is very impressive, and he seemed to have more charisma than the others. Too bad his team lost the match, but it helps to push Price & Lima. I am just sad Tank dropped the fall. Push the guy for goodness sake, he has got something.

Just before the finish, Scrypts gets involved when he ties up Walker. Meanwhile, Tank has Nima lifted on his shoulders, when Price comes in to superkick Tank. Nima & Price then execute their double-team finisher on Tank, and Nima covers him for the pinfall. The wrong guy took the fall here.

The Creeds join the dinner with the tag champs and the team formerly knows as Los Lotharios.

Trick Williams informs Axiom and Tyler Bate than the triple threat match they were in is now a fatal four way that includes Williams.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Dijak in a strap match

Thorpe pinned Dijak to win the match. None of those dumb touch the corner rules, which is an improvement over past WWE strap matches. The finish itself seems sort of anti-climatic, even if Thorpe won. Dijak got his heat back after the match. Dijak was also busted open just before the finish.

Thorpe’s family were in the front row, which plays into the story of the match.

Some typical strap match fodder at the start as they have a tug-o-war. Thorpe dives through the ropes to the outside with a tope. Back and forth as they get back into the ring.

Dijak whipped Thorpe with the strap, and Thorpe is thrown outside the ring. He is in trouble as the show cuts to a commercial break. Dijak trying to choke Thorpe as the show returns from the break.

Thorpe fight back with a flurry of offense. Dijak grabs him in a guzzle, and Thorpe responds with a Cactus Jack clothesline that sends them both over the ropes to the floor. Dijak holds on to the guzzle, and he chokeslams Thorpe on the apron.

Dijak taunts Thorpe’s family, and Dijak whips Thorpe with the strap in front of his family. Because the long leather strap is not enough, Dijak takes off his own belt. It is the white leather belt previously used in a angle to set up this strap match. Dijak wraps the white belt around his fist, but to no avail.

Thorpe fires up and makes a comeback. Thorpe whips Dijak with receipts from earlier, and then some. Thorpe leaps off the middle rope to deliver a flying elbow drop, and Thorpe covers Dijak for a three count.

Dijak with a sneaky post-match attack on Thorpe, giving Thorpe the Feast Your Eyes. Dijak superkicks Thorpe, and Thorpe is trapped in a the tree-of-woe. Dijak further traps Thorpe by tying his legs with the long leather strap. Dijak then takes the white belt and whips Thorpe in front of his family.

Blair Davenport hijacks a headset from Vic Joseph, and she cuts a promo saying her match tonight with Gigi Dolan is off. Davenport had attacked Dolan in an angle earlier tonight.

Thea Hail (with Jacy Jayne) defeated Dani Palmer

Hail submitted Palmer with a kimura in a short bout. This was basically an enhancement match, helping to get over Hail’s new heel persona. Hail debuted new ring gear, which Jayne helped pick out in storyline. Booker T likens it to Miley Cyrus once being Hannah Montana, but now she is a “wrecking ball.” Hail also has new theme music.

Trick Williams is excited as he meets up with NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes in the locker room. An enthusiastic Williams is met by a distracted Hayes, who is seemingly preoccupied by his cellphone.  As Williams leaves, Hayes looks up with a look on his face like he failed his friend.

Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker have another pull-apart brawl, this time backstage.

Trick Williams defeated Dragon Lee, Tyler Bate and Axiom in a fatal four way match

Williams pinned Axiom to win the match. In winning, Williams earns a title shot on Saturday against Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship.

Lots of action in this bout. There was a spoof of the multi-person spot made famous by the “three way dance” from The Night the Line Was Crossed in ECW.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. Even bigger high spots when the show returns from commercial. They build to a Spanish Fly, where Axiom gets a near fall on Dragon Lee. Another near fall in return, which is broken up by Williams. A three-way headbutt as Williams, Lee, and Bate all clonk heads. Bates falls off the apron, Lee falls out of the ring, and William falls into a pin cover on Axiom.

Price & Nima join the tag team dinner with the champs. With whole show-long skit is dying a death. It drags on. Price & Nima threaten Tony D & Stacks. Tony D snaps his fingers, and out comes a bunch of mob henchmen to back up Tony D.

The skit drags on, and it seemingly sets up a fatal four way match at No Mercy for the tag titles. Kind of lazy booking in a way, but whatever.

Dominik Mysterio is cutting a promo in a backstage interview when Mysterio is jumped by Dragon Lee.

Hayes finds Williams backstage, and they are all smiles together. They are on good terms again as Hayes heads to the ring for a contract signing.

Ilja Dragunov is the first to enter to the soundstage, and he does his full entrance in full suit. Hayes enters wearing his NXT Championship belt. They sit down at a table set up in the ring. Dragunov glares at the title belt propped up on the table.

Hayes wants them to just sign the contract, claiming there is nothing for them to talk about after their angle from last week. Just sign, and they will see each other at No Mercy. Of course, the go-home segment closing the show will not end that easily.

Dragunov says Hayes was the wrong person at the wrong time, adding that Hayes is also the wrong champion. Hayes responded by noting he previously defeated Dragunov in a title match. Hayes vows to repeat the outcome.

Dragunov threatens that Hayes will feel unbearable pain. Hayes says Dragunov is believing his own hype. They banter some more. That leads to Hayes slipping up by misspeaking, or maybe it was a Freudian slip.

Hayes catches himself misspeaking as he runs down the opponents Dragunov has beaten. Hayes stops short at “Trick” as Hayes catches himself about to say something he could regret.

Hayes goes on to cut a promo, just before Dragunov stands up and signs the contract. He walks around the table and slams the contract down on the table in front of Hayes. A red-faced Dragunov cuts a go-home promo on Hayes.

Standing to sign the contract, Hayes then walks around the table to get in Dragunov’s face. They face off as the show is closing, with them staring a hole through each other.

“Breaking news” late in the show, as Dragon Lee is announced as the guest referee for the North American title match at No Mercy.

The go-home angle is a brawl in the parking lot. Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker are fighting again. Referees pour outside trying to break up the fight. Breakker spears a car door. They also put a dent in the vehicle. Corbin is slammed on the hood.

Breakker is given a low blow, and Corbin chokeslams Breakker on the roof of the automobile. Breakker pops up like the Undertaker, and he grabs Corbin in a choke. The fight their way back into the building, and the brawl continues.

They bust through the wall like two brawling version of the Kool-Aid Man. The break through a wall made sheet rock, and they spill into Shawm Michaels’ office. The show fades to black with a pull-apart, as Breakker screams into the camera.

WWE NXT live results: Becky Lynch appears, Carmelo Hayes vs. Dominik

The Man comes around to NXT tonight for her first appearance on the show since becoming the champion.

In last Tuesday’s main event, Becky Lynch defeated Tiffany Stratton to win the NXT Women’s Championship. This is Lynch’s first-ever reign with the title.

She’s promised to be a fighting champion, and then went on to successfully defense over Natalya on Raw last night.

WWE has also announced that Lynch will kick off tonight’s episode of NXT.

A non-title clash between NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and North American Champion Dominik Mysterio also highlights tonight’s action.

The Group A winner in the Global Heritage Invitational will be determined when Tyler Bate and Butch face off. A Group B match between Joe Coffey and Duke Hudson is also set. Coffey is the current leader in Group B.

Plus, Lola Vice will compete in a singles match against Roxanne Perez.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The Man comes around…

NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch enters the soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando. The live studio audience greets her with a big pop and chants of her name.

The champ exclaims, “The Man has come around to N-Becks-T!”

Lynch says her world tour continues, “because we bring the fight every damn night!”

No matter the name, same game. Lynch name drops Gigi Dolan, Elektra Lopez, Thea Hail, and Roxanne Perez, in a rhyme similar to Lanny Poffo fame.

“I’ll be here a while, and I go the extra mile,” raps Becky, “So how about we have a scrap, Ivy Nile.”

Lynch name drops a few more before saying she is the mountain to climb,  “welcome to the big time.”

The studio audience chants Becky’s name, and she thanks them. Lynch says it feels good to be back and represent the fans.

Lynch then brings up the former champion, Tiffany Stratton.

“‘Tiffy Time’ is over, ” proclaims Lynch. With that, the studio audience chants “Becky Time.”

Lynch promises that Stratton will get a rematch for the title, even if “she may be an idiot, and she may be an arsehole,’ but…”

Out comes Stratton to interrupt and interject. Stratton talks about how she deserves a rematch. Stratton acknowledges Lynch is a main eventer and a top star, but “I am Tiffany STRATT-TAN!”

Lynch rolls her eyes. Stratton challenges Lynch to a title match tonight. The audience starts a “YES” chant, and Stratton immediately heels on them. She says the match is not happening tonight.

“These losers cheered me every week up until you came here,” Stratton says to Lynch. “I want a bigger match on a bigger stage.”

By that she means Bakersfield, California.

Lynch says Stratton can have the rematch she wants, but the results will remain the same. Not because Stratton is not good enough, rather she is not “hungry enough” to regain the match.

Lynch accuses Stratton of being entitled, and what it comes to is who wants it more. Stratton has a smart alec remark. Just she begins to ramble, Lynch says instead of going “word for word with The Man, we got punch for punch.”

Lynch lunges towards Stratton and a brawl ensues. Kiana James jumps in to attack Lynch. James hold Lynch so that Stratton can try to hit Lynch with a metal folding chair. Lynch escapes and fights back. “The Man” grabs the chair and swings it at the fleeing heels. This would lead to a handicap match as the main event for later tonight.

NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo talk cuisine, an they try to decide on their next challengers. They decide to let the teams fight it out. What a concept.

Ilja Dragunov is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when in walks Lynch. She asks Dragunov is she can interrupt, and be obliges her. An angry Lynch glares into the match as she challenges Kiana James and Tiffany Stratton to a two-on-one handicap match tonight.

Kelly Kincaid interviews Noam Dar and Meta-Four in a wacky skit I assume is based on The Matrix or something. This went way over my head. Luckily, out comes Butch to interrupt. He has a match coming up after the commercial break, but first another skit.

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio has a confrontation with Trick Williams. Mysterio likens him getting out of his father’s shadow with Williams playing second fiddle Carmelo Hayes. Mysterio trying to cause dissension.

Butch defeated Tyler Bate in a Group A match in the Global Heritage International tournament

Butch pinned Bate to conclude a really good bout. The win gives Butch two more points, giving him a one point lead over Bate in the overall standings. Thus, Butch advances to the tournament final by one point.

They wrestled through a commercial break, and teased going to a time limit draw. Under 60 second as Bate goes for his signature corkscrew senton, but Butch gets his knees up to block.

Butch with a Bitter End, but Bate kicks out as the clock ticks down to under 30 seconds. Butch then does a modified tombstone version of a Bitter End, and he coves Bate for a three count. With the win, Butch earns the most points overall in his group, meaning he advances to the finals.

Updated Group A standings:

  • Butch – 5 points
  • Bate – 4 points
  • Axiom – 1 point
  • Charlie Dempsey – 0 points

In a pre-taped skit, Thea Hail goes shopping for a new wardrobe alongside Jacy Jayne. Hail tries on several outfits, but Jayne says she needs more leather. They finally settle on an outfit, but viewers do get to see it yet. The reveal will happen at a later date.

Duke Hudson (with Andre Chase) defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) in a Group B match in the Global Heritage International tournament

Hudson played spoiler, after pinning Coffey with a schoolboy roll-up. The match was kept short. The reason for that would be revealed later on, as Hudson and Coffey go on to wrestle in a another match later on tonight.

Coffey needed a win to advance, and Hudson was the “bracket buster” in Group B. Although there was no actual bracket, Hudson’s win did make him part of a three-way tie atop the Group B leaderboard.

Just before they were going home, Coffey lands a missile dropkicks. He then follows up with a “Glasgow Sendoff” and an attempted discus lariat. Hudson ducks the clothesline, and Hudson rolls up Coffey for a pinfall.

Updated Group B standings:

  • Joe Coffey – 4 points
  • Nathan Frazier – 4 points
  • Duke Hudson – 4 points
  • Akira Tozawa – 0 points

Kelly Kincaid is interviewing Frazier for his reaction to the three-way tie. Frazier assumes that means a triple threat match. Kincaid gets word that the three-way is happening later tonight. An excited Frazier runs off to get ready.

Roxanne Perez defeated Lola Vice

Perez pinned Vice with a cradle. In the closing moments of a short match, Perez countered a submission to pin Vice. Perez went for Pop Rocks, and Vice had countered with the submission attempt, but Perez had a counter of her own. Vice worked the arm during the match.

Perez would later in a backstage skit ask to be Becky Lynch’s partner tonight, but Lynch politely decline the offer.

In a vignette, Eddy Thorpe challenges Dijak to a strap match. The angle is a modern version of the “Indian strap match” gimmick, without all the cultural appropriation of years past. The strap match is later made official for next Tuesday.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes vs. NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio in a non-title champion vs. champion match ended in a no-contest

Ilja Dragunov was doing guest commentary at ringside when he ran in a rage. Dragunov hits both Hayes and Mysterio, so I am assuming the match was ruled a no-contest.

Gorilla Monsoon would often say after a match, “let’s get the official word.” The ring announcer would then give an official result. That was so quaint. None of that here. We are just left to wonder and speculate as to the official word. So, I just assume no-contest.

Hayes was posing as part of his entrance when he is ambushed by Msyertio. “Dirty Dom” poses with the NXT title, and that fires up Hayes. The bell to start the match eventually sounds.

Hayes pummels Dom, and Dom is begging off as the show cuts to a commercial break. The match continues after the break, with Dom eventually cutting off Hayes. Not for long, as Dom eats a codebreaker.

Hayes climbs the turnbuckles, and he slips. Hayes tumbles off the turnbuckles, and he falls to the floor. Looked as if Dom was supposed to trip him up, but Hayes slips before that.

Reversing a whip, Hayes sends Dom sailing over the announce desk into the lap of Dragunov. After taking a bump in a chair, Dragunov is hit again when Dom sends Hayes crashing into Dragunov for a double noggin knocker. Dom rolls Hayes back into the ring, and Dom then slaps Dragunov across the face. That would awaken a beast.

An enraged Dragunov storms into the ring to attack Mysterio. After inadvertently getting hit by Hayes moments earlier, Dragunov inadvertently gives Hayes a finisher. Meanwhile, Dragon Lee runs down to superkick Mysterio.

Joe Gacy and Ava proposition Trick Williams in a skit. Though it could have been taken as something from a late night Cinemax movie, I assume Gacy and Ava were actually trying to recruit Williams into their cult. Maybe there is a movie about that too.

Andre Chase gives Duke Hudson a pep talk in another skit.

Lucien Price, Bronco Nima and Scrypts are playing a dice game in a stereotypical inner city skit, and they win a load of cash. They count their winnings and brag on themselves.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Hank Walker and Tank Ledger. They accept a challenge to a match against Price and Nima.

Joe Coffey defeated Duke Hudson and Nathan Frazier in a triple threat tie-breaker for Group B in the Global Heritage International tournament

Coffey pinned Hudson to win the match. In winning, Coffey advances to the tournament final next week.

Like of a lot of tripe threat matches, there was a lot going on at times. Lots of nifty high spots as well. They went through a commercial break, before wrapping up with an action-packed finish.

Hudson teases another roll-up flash pin on Coffey, but Coffey kicks out this time. All three go on to do a flurry of high spots down the home stretch. Near falls galore, with several pins being broken up by the odd man out.

In the closing moments, Coffey tossed outside the ring by Hudson. Frazier cuts off Hudson, and Hudson is spiked by a Frankensteiner. Hudson with a wacky sell. Frazier follows up with a Phoenix Splash, and Frazier goes for a pin cover. The pinning attempt is broken up by Coffey, and he throws Frazier over the top rope.

After knocking Frazier off the apron, Coffey hits Hudson with a discus lariat. Coffey then covers Hudson for a pinfall, and Coffey wins Group B block. Butch against Coffey is set for the tournament final.

Mustafa Ali is interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. Ali is in a self-professed “uproar” over a North American title match booked for Raw. Ali cuts a heel promo on both Dominik Mysterio and Dragon Lee, as they have match set for Monday night. Ali is upset someone he beat gets a title shot before him. Ali vows to deal with both of them Monday on Raw.

Josh Briggs barges in while Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley are watching footage from their loss last week. Briggs blames Henley for him and Jensen suffering the loss. Briggs and Henley argue over Myles Borne. These three have become a dysfunctional group of friends. I guess no one told them life was gonna be this way…

Baron Corbin comes in to ask what they are arguing about, except Corbin does not want an answer. He just wants them to shut up. Briggs smarts off to Corbin, and they have words. This looks to set up a match between Briggs and Corbin.

Announced for next week is a contract signing between Hayes and Dragunov for the NXT Championship bout at No Mercy. Also made official is a strap match with Dijak against Eddy Thorpe.

NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Tiffany Stratton & Kiana James in a non-title handicap match never happens

James and Stratton are seen planning something in a backstage skit before the match. Turns out the plan was to jump Lynch before the bell in a sneak attack. Stratton and James both ambush Lynch during the champ’s entrance.

Lynch is being double-teamed when Lyra Valkyria runs down to make a save. Seems like that would be a disqualification due to outside interference, but the bell had apparently not sounded yet. No official start to the match before the melee.

Stratton and James do not like the odds being even, so they turn to leave. They are chased down by Lynch and Valkyria. The bell finally sounds, beginning an impromptu tag match. The sudden change in booking is supposedly at the “discretion” of the referee. “Poetic license” is more like it.

NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Lyra Valkyria defeated Tiffany Stratton & Kiana James

Valkyria pinned James to win the match. Valkyria gets the rub. An angle after the match has Stratton attacking Lynch with a folding chair.

The babyface team is on a roll as the show cut to its final commercial break. Lynch is being worked over as the show returns from the break. Stratton goes for her Muta elbow, but no one is home.

Hot tag and Valkyria jumps into the ring. The two heels bump and feed into Valkyria onslaught. Moments later when Valkyria goes for a springboard, Stratton trips her up from outside the ring. Stratton was not the legal woman at the time.

Vic Joseph played it up on commentary as Stratton getting away with something nefarious. Give me a freaking break, dude. When is that ever an issue these days ?

James deadlifted Valkyria for a powerbomb. Stratton follows up with a senton bomb on Valkyria. Lynch jumps in to break up a pin cover. That was supposed to be her team’s one save. Why not talk about that rule, Vic?

Lynch with a double slop drop on Stratton and James. Lynch goes to apply an armbar on James, but James escapes the hold. Manhandle slam by Lynch, and Lynch tags out. Valkyria leaps off the top rope for a flying body press, and Valkyria covers James for a three count.

Stratton grabs a metal folding chair, and she attacks Lynch after the match. Lynch gives her back for Stratton to hit her with the chair. Stratton retrieves the NXT title belt, and Stratton’s poses with the women’s title.

As Stratton goes to leave, Lynch gets to her feet. Lynch is given a house mic. Stemming from the attack with the chair, Lynch announces an “extreme rules” stipulation her title rematch against Stratton at No Mercy.

WWE NXT live results: Tiffany Stratton vs. Becky Lynch title match

One of WWE’s biggest stars is challenging for gold on tonight’s episode of NXT.

Becky Lynch will attempt to win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time in her career as she challenges Tiffany Stratton tonight. Lynch responded on social media by saying she hasn’t held the title — yet.

Stratton successfully defended her title against Kiana James last week.

We’ll find out Carmelo Hayes’ NXT Championship challenger for No Mercy tonight. Wes Lee is facing Ilja Dragunov in a number one contender’s match.

Becky Lynch is shown arriving to the building earlier today.

Opening the show is a bout that decides the next challenger for the NXT Championship. The winner gets a title shot at No Mercy.

Ilja Dragunov defeated Wes Lee in a number one contender’s match

Dragunov pinned Lee to become the next challenger for the NXT title. Fantastic opener. Helluva match. An injury angle follows the match, as Lee is placed on a stretcher and loaded into a waiting ambulance.

Lee showed a lot of fire at the start, taking the fight to Dragunov. In return, Dragunov fights back. Lee begins to fly, but he is cut off. Dragunov with a series of suplexes, but he is knocked out of the ring by a koppo kick. Lee then torpedoes through the ropes with a tope. He went for another tope, but he is cut off by Dragunov. Lee then takes a suplex on the announce desk, just before the show cuts to its first commercial break.

The war continues during the break, and it wages on when the show returns. They eventually begin trading strikes and kicks. Looks like a few potatoes being thrown, including Dragunov eating a kick. Lee with a running Spanish fly for a near fall. These dudes are beating the snot out of each other.

Lee goes for his finisher, but Dragunov seemingly blocks it. Lee counters the counter with a tornado DDT. A moment later, Lee runs corner to corner to launch into a flip dive over the ring post. Lee goes to follow up by climbing the turnbuckles. He is cut off, and Dragunov sets for the finish with a superplex. Dragunov then drops a falling forearm smash for a close near fall.

Dragunov signals for a his finisher, but Lee blocks with a knee strike. Lee is unable to capitalize as he is on rubber legs, while Dragunov falls backwards into the ropes. Dragunov bounces off the middle rope, and he drops like a falling tree into a forearm that rocks Lee from behind. Dragunov then covers Lee for a three count.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes comes down the ramp after the match is over to stare down Dragunov. Lee is taken away on a stretcher surrounded by medical staff, producers and Shawn Michaels. Lee leaves the building in an ambulance.

NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton is seen arriving to the building ahead of her title match main event tonight.

In a follow up to the cliffhanger from last week, a video package recaps Bron Breakker injuring Von Wagner in a angle that ended the previous episode. The story is Wagner has a “minor skull fracture,” and there is no timetable for his return because of his previous medical history.

Heading to the ring to address the incident from last week is Baron Corbin, who was at ringside as a guest commentator when Breakker injured Wagner. Out comes Corbin for a monologue on the subject.

Corbin says what he witnessed was “vicious,” and he adds at Wagner will never be the same after Breakker smashed Wagner’s head with the ring steps. Corbin calls out Breakker, and Breakker obliges him. Corbin begins to address Breakker when the live studio audience begins to mock him with a chant. Corbin tries to ignore them.

Corbin’s serious demeanor flips to joy as “that was freaking awesome!” Breakker lets out a holler, and he and Corbin celebrate like frat boys. That to is a ruse. Breakker turns on Corbin by calling him an idiot.

Breakker says he ended Wagner’s career because Wagner put him through a table. Breakker basks in the horror he caused last week. Corbin then starts cutting another promo on Breakker, as this segment starts to drag. They get in each other’s face and they yell. Breakker makes a challenge for a match at No Mercy. Breakker threatens Corbin, and Corbin responds by slapping Breakker. Corbin in turn slaps Breakker. A slugfest erupts into a pull-apart.

A trios match is next.

Damon Kemp, Charlie Dempsey & Drew Gulak defeated Myles Borne, Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs (with Fallon Henley) in a six-man tag team match

Kemp pinned Jensen after Borne turned on his teammates. The match was rather short, as the turn and finish came out of nowhere.

When the fighting spilled outside, Borne pulled Henley out of harm’s way, like her knight in shining armor. More like a snake in the grass. They lock eyes for a second. A moment later, Borne turns on his tag partner when he slings Jensen into the ring post. Gulak and Dempsey double team Briggs at ringside, while Kemp covers Jensen for a pinfall in the ring.

Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne get into a bar fight with a couple dudes in a pre-taped skit. The two dudes makes fun of Hail, and Jayne takes up for her by slapping one dude. Hail kicks the other dude’s ass. Hail then says they are going shopping next week. She apparently does not want dress in Chase U clothes anymore. I would not either if it led to bar fights.

Lyra Valkyria defeated Dana Brooke (with Kelani Jordan)

Valkyria pinned Brooke after a splash. Valkyria gets to shine early on, until being cut off by Brooke. Valkyria eventually fires up on Brooke. Valkyria lands a roundhouse kick, and she follows up with a flying body press off the top rope and a three count.

Brooke shakes hands with Valkyria after the match. When Valkyria turns to leave, Brooke goes for a sneak attack. She is stopped by Jordan, who pulls Brooke away.

Eddy Thorpe is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. They are interrupted by a video message from Dijak. He is “marking” Thorpe territory by whipping a tree with a belt. Dijak took his belt off and whipped the tree repeatedly, which caused Thorpe to end the interview and leave.

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes have a backstage confrontation where they exchange words. Hayes challenges Mysterio to a match. This sets up a champion vs. champion match for next Tuesday on NXT. The titles are apparently not on the line. At least I don’t think the belts are up for grabs. Their announcement later on is somewhat vague on that.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Becky Lynch. She is interrupted by Kiana James, who tells Lynch that she is not wanted here. Lynch warns James that “‘The Man’ is coming around to NXT a whole lot more.” Lynch warns that is “not good” for James.

Tyler Bate defeated Axiom in a Group A match in the Global Heritage International tournament

Bate pinned Axiom in an action-packed match. Both are so good at what they do. The match goes through a commercial break. They trade near falls in the closing moments. Lots of great action and counters. Bate executes a Tyler Driver ’97, and he covered Axiom for the pinfall.

Updated Group A standings:

  • Butch – 3 points

Joe Gacy and Ava are outside by their cult’s tree in a pre-taped skit. Gacy says their tree is dying as they stand alone. They both place a hand on the tree for whatever reason. Cornball kooky stuff.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams have an awkward meeting where they try to make up after a tense encounter last week. In walks Wes Lee into the background. Lee is dragging a trash can to his locker, and Lee cleans out his locker by throwing stuff in the trash. Lee then takes his bag and leaves.

The Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed with Ivy Nile) defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Blade & Enofe shine early on with fast-paced high spots. Brutus is getting worked over, but he fights back. Hot tag to Julius, and he runs wild. Blade tries to cut off Julius, but Blade is caught instead. They go home after a “Brutus Ball” finisher, which is essentially a Doomsday Device where Brutus does a cannonball.

Humberto Carillo & Angel Garza watched the match from a perch overlooking the ring. They have a stare down with the Creeds. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger came down the aisle to join the staring contest. Walker & Ledger are then jumped by Lucien Price & Bronco Nima. Those two teams brawl around ringside.

Becky Lynch has a warm reunion with Lyra Valkyria in a brief skit.

Because there are not enough skits on this show, Roxanne Perez is in the locker room for yet another skit. Perez is confronted by Elektra Lopez and Lola Vice. This seems to set up a match between Vice and Perez. Vice also mentions she will go on win the Breakout tournament. So that is coming back soon, because the word certainly needs another wrestling tournament.

Akira Tozawa vs. Nathan Frazier in a Group B match in the Global Heritage International tournament

Frazier pinned Tozawa to win. Tozawa is so damn good when he gets to be a serious wrestler. Dame shame Tozawa has zero points so far. Big fat goose egg is a travesty.

Frazier is impressive as usual. For the finish, they do a superplex. Frazier holds on, floats over and lifts Tozawa into a twisting neckbreaker. Frazier then covers Tozawa for a three count.

Frazier is now tied with Joe Coffey as the points leaders in their group.

Updated Group B standings:

Gigi Dolan attacks Blair Davenport, leading to a pull-apart brawl.

Becky Lynch defeats NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton to win the title

Lynch pinned Stratton after a Manhandle slam.

Lynch got a superstar reaction from the live studio audience the moment she entered the soundstage. She is definitely more over than anyone on the NXT roster, which stands to reason. Lynch even carries herself more like a star than the rest on this show. “The Man” has swagger.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. Lynch takes a bump off the apron just as the show cuts to commercial. Stratton works over Lynch during the break. Lynch is making a comeback when the show returns from that last commercial break.

They trade near falls in the closing minutes. Missile dropkick by Lynch, but Stratton kicks out. Lynch gets a shoulder up after taking a pop-up powerbomb from Stratton. Lynch blocks Stratton’s attempt at her moonsault finisher.

Stratton goes for her moonsault finisher as she springboards on the middle rope. Lynch with a springboard of her own to cut off Stratton. Lynch then executes a super Russian leg sweep off the middle rope. Stratton gets a shoulder up.

Stratton baits Lynch into getting out of the ring. Lynch is sent crashing into the ring steps, as Stratton starts clearing off the announce desk. Stratton teases powerbombing Lynch on the desk, but Lynch escapes by hopping onto the barricade. Stratton is shoved backwards, and she falls on the desk in just the right spot. Lynch leaps off the barricade with a flying legdrop on the desk. The table failed to break, but Lynch fought on.

Lynch leaps off the top rope with a Bobby Eaton Alabama Jam (flying legdrop). Stratton kicks out, and Lynch transitions into applying a Fujiwara armbar. Stratton escapes the hold, and she delivers a Liger bomb for another near fall.

For the finish, Stratton goes for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. No water in the pool as Lynch moves out of the way. Stratton lands on her feet, only for her to walk into a Manhandle slam. Lynch then covers Stratton for a three count. AND NEW…

For the fist time in her career, Becky Lynch captures the NXT Women’s Championship.

WWE NXT live results: Tiffany Stratton vs. Kiana James title match

Tiffany Stratton’s title reign faces a challenge from Kiana James tonight.

The NXT Women’s Championship will be up for grabs when Stratton faces off with James on tonight’s NXT episode. Last Tuesday, James put herself in position for the title shot when she defeated Roxanne Perez, Gigi Dolin, and Blair Davenport in a fatal four-way number one contender’s match.

While James is Stratton’s opponent for tonight, it appears that a match between Stratton and WWE main roster star Becky Lynch is looming. A confrontation between the two took place during Payback on Saturday.

A no DQ grudge match between Bron Breakker and Von Wagner is among the other matches set for tonight. The show will also include Ilja Dragunov vs. Oro Mensah, the return of Angel & Humberto, and more.

NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defeated Kiana James to retain her title

Stratton pinned James, after an eye poke and Stratton’s moonsault finisher. Becky Lynch appears after the match in a taped promo, where she announces she is challenging for Stratton’s title in the main event next Tuesday on NXT.

The match itself was well choreographed, and also seemed timed out well. James got to look strong, but not necessarily at Stratton’s expense.

Moments before they went home, Stratton grabs James’ loaded bag. Stratton goes to hit James with the loaded bag, but James ducks. James delivers her 401k finisher, but Stratton kicks out for a near fall.

Stratton had used underhanded tactics earlier in the match to shift the advantage in her favor. She does so again to set up the finish. Stratton pokes James’s in the eyes, and Stratton then sets up for her finisher. Stratton executes her “Prettiest Moonsault Ever,” and Stratton covers her for a pinfall.

Diamond Mine is back together and back in NXT. The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile are in their gym in a skit where the NXT Tag Team Champions meet up with them. The tag champs, Tony D’Angelo and Stacks, are talking with the Creeds when Malik Blade and Edris Enofe interrupt. They take exception to the Creeds wanting a tag title shot so soon after returning. An argument ensues. To be continued…

Ilja Dragunov defeated Oro Mensah (with Noam Dar, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend)

Dragunov pinned Mensah in a really good match. The style of the bout is much different than the opener, and it was more fluid. Mensah brought the fight to Dragunov, which also plays to Dragunov’s strengths.

They fight through a commercial break, and the battle continues after the shoe returns from the a split-screen. Dragunov makes a comeback after delivering his Grüße aus Moskau lariat. Dragunov goes into a chain of suplexes for a near fall. He is soon cut off by Mensah, and he hits a spinning heel kick for two and half.

Mensah then begins to mock Dragunov, which infuriates Dragunov. He hulks up, and Mensah is powerbombed. Dragunov signals her his finisher, and he delivers Torpedo Moskau. Dragunov then covers Mensah for a pinfall.

Wes Lee enters the soundstage after the match is over. He gets in the ring to confront Dragunov, and Lee tells Dragunov that his hopes for a title shot must wait. The two have been bickering in recent weeks over which one of them is the next contender for the NXT Championship. So they bicker so more about it, until their argument is interrupted by the champion himself.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes confronts the two, and he says he talked with Shawn Michaels about the situation. The live studio audience chants for a triple threat match. Instead, Hayes says HBK booked a number one contender’s match for next week. Lee against Dragunov is set for next Tuesday, and the winner faces Hayes for the NXT title at No Mercy.

Nathan Frazier is interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell, and Frazier addresses his viral moment from last week, where he clotheslined himself on the top rope.

Tyler Bate defeated Dabbo-Kato

Bate pinned Dabbo-Kato clean in the middle of the ring, as a David conquered a Goliath. Dabbo-Kato lost another match clean, so he is not much of monster anymore, despite them portraying his as such.

Bate tries jumping Dabbo-Kato before the bell, with mixed results. Dabbo-Kato would not go down, but Bate kept bringing the fight to him. Bate eats a big boot, and Dabbo-Kato begins to manhandle Bate.

Bate eventually fights back, and he keeps trying to knock Dabbo-Kato off his feet. When Dabbo-Kato still will not go down, Bate instead lifts Dabbo-Kato off his feet.

In a feat of strength, Bate lifts Dabbo-Kato into a fireman’s carry. Bate does an airplane spin, and Dabbo-Kato is slammed to the mat. Bate shakes off his dizziness before climbing the turnbuckles. Bate leaps off into a corkscrew senton bomb. Bate then covers Dabbot-Kato for a clean three count.

Dominik Mysterio is headed to the ring in a referee shirt with black and purple stripes.

A backstage skit in the women’s locker room leads to a shuffle between Roxanne Perez and Kiana James. They did a Punk and Perry pull-apart, which would seem to set up a singles match between Perez and James.

Mustafa Ali defeated Dragon Lee with NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio as guest referee

Ali pinned Dragon Lee, after a fast count by Dom. In wining the match, Ali earns himself a title shot against Dom at No Mercy.

The announcers scatter at one point, when Dragon Lee torpedoes through the ropes with a tope suicida. Ali quickly recovers from being sent sailing over the announce desk. Ali flips over the desk to do a Buckshot Lariat on the floor. Ali follows up with a tornado DDT for a near fall.

They go on to trade near falls. Dragon Lee gets a two count after a German suplex. Ali with a jackhammer for another two count. Ali goes for a 450, but no water in the pool. He rolls through, only to take a Liger bomb for another near fall.

Dragon Lee complains to Dom about the count, as Lee argues Dom was counting too slow. Ali rushed in to catch Dragon Lee in a victory roll. Dom drops to the mat and does a fast count. Ali scores a pinfall, after Dom rapidly slaps the mat three times.

Ali drops Dom with a right hand after the match. Ali still remains somewhat of a tweener. Is he a heel or a face? Time will tell.

Butch and Axiom wrestle to a time limit draw in a Group A match in the Global Heritage Invitational

With the match ending in a draw, each receive one point apiece. They also had a really good match.

The bout goes through a commercial break. They trade chops after the break, and Axiom makes a comeback for a near fall on Butch. Axiom goes for a standing moonsault, but Butch counters him to catch Axiom in a triangle. Axiom gets a rope break, but he eats strikes and stomps from Butch.

Axiom continues to fight back. They each reverse crossface submission hold. Axiom goes for a triangle of his own, but Butch escapes to give Axiom a snap German. Nevertheless, Axiom comes back with flurry of offense. He goes for a springboard, only for Butch to cut him off with a knee strike. Butch with a Liger bomb for another near fall.

By this point, under five minutes remain in the time limit. They each are rushing to try and finish the other. Axiom delivers the Golden Ratio, but Butch get his arm out of bounds, under the plane of the bottom rope, to break the count.

Axiom goes for a submission hold with the time limit under 30 seconds. Butch snaps Axiom’s fingers to break the hold. Butch with the Bitter End with seconds remaining. He is unable to capitalize, and time expires. The bell sounds, and the match is a draw.

Updated Group A standings:

  • Axiom – 1 point
  • Charlie Dempsey – 0 points
  • Tyler Bate has yet to have his first tourney match

Von Wagner in a taped promo is seemingly addressing Mr. Stone. However, the camera pans out to reveal Wagner is talking to the announce desk, as he now has a Sabu gimmick where he likes putting people through tables. Stone walks ups, and Wagner vows Breakker will get “tabled tonight.”

The skit in the Diamond Dojo continues with more tag teams bickering among themselves. This one led to brawl. Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza confront the tag champs. Carillo and Garza then brawl with D’Angelo and Stacks.

Thea Hail (with Jacy Jayne) defeated Gigi Dolan

Hail submitted Dolan after outside interference by Blair Davenport.

Hail is still billed as representing Chase U, but Jayne is in her corner instead of the Chase U faction. Jayne also stops Hail from doing her Chase U pose during Hail’s entrance routine.

Hail wrestled with more of an edge. Although not a heel style, Hail was far more aggressive. During the bout, she is trying for an armbar. Hail ends up posted shoulder first.

Suddenly, Blair Davenport runs in and attacks Dolan at ringside. Davenport targets Dolan’s arm with a shoulder breaker. Davenport then rolls Dolan back into the ring, where Hail traps Dolan in a kimura lock. Dolan taps out, and Hail wins via submission.

In a backstage skit, Lyra Valkyria is giving Kelani Jordan a pep talk when in walks Dana Brooke. She takes exception to Valkyria giving advice to Jordan. This sets up a match with Valkyria against Brooke, with Jordan stuck in the middle.

NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton cuts a promo on Becky Lynch ahead of their title match next week. Stratton calls Lynch a “bitch” to conclude the promo, and the live studio audience gasp at the curse word.

Bron Breakker defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone) in a no disqualification match

Breakker pinned Wagner in what Gorilla Monsoon would have likely called the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. It was a for sure a hoss fight. Breakker gets his heat back after the match with an injury angle, which ends the show on a cliffhanger.

Wagner was wearing pants instead of his usual long tights. Not sure if that is a new look, or just something he wore for what is essentially a street fight. Breakker wore his usual singlet and gear.

The fight spills outside early on, and they brawl near the announce desk. They bang around on the desk, and Wagner throws Breakker over the table. Wagner teases putting Breakker through the desk, but they get back into the ring instead. Not for long, as the fighting quickly spills out of the ring just before the show cuts to its final commercial break.

Metal folding chairs and kendo sticks are soon used as props. During the split-screen break, Wagner teases pulling a table from underneath the ring. Breakker cuts him off, and Breakker goes to pull out the table. The studio audience cheers, so Breakker heels on them by sliding the table back underneath the ring.

The show returns from the break with Breakker repeatedly hitting Wagner with a kendo stick. Stiff shots in safe places. Wagner blocks one shot, and he fights back. Breakker cuts him off with a lariat. Wagner takes more shots from the kendo sticks, but Wagner eventually fight backs.

Breakker takes a few big boots from Wagner, but he blocks a third attempt. Breakker then does a sit-out powerbomb by Wagner. As the studio audience chants for tables, Wagner goes to pick up Breakker. Wagner buckles to his knees, selling his ribs from all the earlier shots from the kendo stick.

Breakker with a flying bulldog that drives Wagner into a chair laying on the mat. Breakker pulls down the straps on his singlet, and Breakker applies a Steiner Recliner, while using the kendo stick as a crossface. Wagner then hulks up to break the hold. Wagner reverses the kendo stick to crossface Breakker with it.

They trade lariats. Breakker drops Wagner into a gut buster, and Breakker charges at Wagner for what an attempted spear. Wagner moves out of the way, and Breakker crashes into a chair wedged in a corner. Breakker crawls over to another folding chair. As Breakker gets his hands on the chair, Wagner stomps on the chair as he towers over a downed Breakker.

Wagner has a kendo stick in his hand as Breakker gets to his feet. Breakker spat in Wagner’s face, and Wagner responds with a series of shot from the kendo stick. Wagner shatters a kendo stick on Breakker’s back. Wagner tosses aside the splintered stick, and he hits Breakker across the back with chair shot. Chokeslam by Wagner for a near fall.

The fight spills outside the ring again, where Wagner sends Breakker crashing through a gimmicked wall. Breakker is dragged out as Wagner teases putting Breakker through the announce desk. Breakker fight back, but he takes a pop-up powerbomb on the desk. The booth implodes as Breakker is put through the desk.

Wagner follows up by rolling Breakker into the ring. Breakker counters a fireman’s carry, and he hits Wagner with a low blow. Wagner then turns around as Breakker delivers a spear. Breakker goes in to score a three count on Wagner.

Breakker attacks Wagner after the match with chair shots. Breakker sends Wagner crashing into the ring steps. Breakker then picks up the top section of the steps. With Wagner’s head resting on the bottom section of the steps, Breakker appears to smash Wagner’s head with steps. In a cliffhanger ending, the show fades to black amid screams of horror.

The angle continued on social media, with Wagner being carried away on a stretcher. His head was heavily bandaged, while he was strapped down and wheeled away.

WWE NXT live results: Fatal four-way contender’s match

By the time tonight’s NXT is over, we’ll know who’s next in line to challenge Tiffany Stratton.

Roxanne Perez, Blair Davenport, Gigi Dolin, and Kiana James are set to meet in a fatal four-way number one contender’s match tonight. All four confronted Stratton at NXT Heatwave last week and wanted a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship.

The road to deciding a challenger for Noam Dar’s Heritage Cup trophy also starts tonight. The Global Heritage Invitational begins with Butch vs. Charlie Dempsey and Nathan Frazer vs. Joe Coffey. It’s a round-robin tournament where the winner will challenge Dar at NXT No Mercy next month.

The Creed Brothers will attempt to earn their way back into NXT as they clash with The Dyad in a steel cage match. Their match is kicking off tonight’s episode.

Eddy Thorpe vs. Dijak, Tyler Bate vs. Dabba-Kato, and Dana Brooke & Kelani Jordan vs. Elektra Lopez & Lola Vice have also been announced. Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Opening the show is a tag team cage match. If the Creeds win, they are reinstated in NXT.

The Creeds Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed)  defeated The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler with The Schism) in a steel cage match

Fantastic opener, yet hard to follow. The Creeds are back with a bang.

Masked henchmen jump the Creeds as Julius and Brutus were getting into the cage. The hooded henchmen carry Brutus away, essentially kidnapping him. That left Julius alone two-on-one against The Dyad, after Joe Gacy shoved Julius into the cage and locked the door.

The Dyad work over Julius for some time, but Julius tries making comeback after a springboard backflip. Julius is soon cut off just before the show cuts to a commercial break. When the show returns from the break, also returning is Brutus Creed on a mission.

Brutus is seen tossing around henchmen left and right. Saving the day, Brutus rips the cage door off its hinges, which is a takeoff on something done with Doug Furnas in Knoxville during the 1980s. It is also a gimmick popularized by the debut of Kane in 1997

Brutus enters the cage swinging the door over his head like Terry Funk would a ladder, and Brutus begins to clean house on The Dyad. The Creeds embrace, then they proceed to run wild on the heels. Creeds go for a Doomsday Device, but they are thwarted by Dyad. The two teams fight over the unhinged cage door.

In a feat of strength, Brutus lifts both members of The Dyad for a double Doomsday Device. Brutus leaps off the top rope with a cannonball to wipe out both Fowler and Reid. “Holy s**t” chants are bleeped out on the USA Network feed. The live studio audience was going bananas.

Stereo sliding lariats, and Creeds both go for a cover. A three count later, and the Creeds are reinstated in NXT. Ivy Nile comes out to celebrate with Julius and Brutus after the match.

Joe Gacy glares at Ava, who turns and walks away. Someone sitting in the front row of the live studio audience taunts Ava as she leaves. That was funny.

Roxanne Perez cuts a promo ahead of the fatal four way match tonight, and she declares the next step on her quest to regaining the NXT Women’s Championship.

The Street Profits in a cameo meet up with NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and the NXT Tag Team Champions, Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. They tease a tag title match in the future.

Up next is the first match in the “Don’t Call It the G1” tournament, which WWE is billing as the “NXT Global Heritage International.” That is a way more of a mouthful than “G1,” but whatever. Likewise, having both “global” and “international” in the name seems redundant. Nonetheless, there is a points system in a round robin-style tourney.

Meta-Four was watching from a stage overlooking the ring.

Butch defeated Charlie Dempsey in a Group A match in the NXT Global Heritage International tournament

Butch pinned Dempsey after a Bitter End. In winning, Butch earns two points. This was a good match, but would likely have been far better with more time. Regardless, they made the most of the time they had. The tournament is off to a strong start.

Mustafa Ali interrupts an interview McKenzie Mitchell is conducting with Dragon Lee. Ali takes exception with Dragon Lee wanting another title shot at NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio. Ali claims to deserve the next title shot.

Ilja Dragunov is in the ring for a live monologue. He first puts over Trick Williams, whom was beaten last week by Dragunov. As Dragunov shifts his focus to talking about his quest for the NXT title, he is interrupted by Noam Dar. Still in his perch overlooking the ring, Dar wants to have an impromptu Supernova Sessions, which is his talk show gimmick.

Oro Mensah, Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson also chime in, as Meta-Four bickers with Dragunov. This was dragging when Mensah exits the perch, and he comes down to ringside. Mensah gets in the ring to confront Dragunov. They insult each other in German, and a brawl erupts. They trade strikes, and Mensah powders. This clearly sets up a singles grudge match with Dragunov against Mensah.

Von Wagner, flanked by Mr. Stone, cuts a promo on Bron Breakker for a no disqualification match next Tuesday on NXT.

Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez defeated Dana Brooke & Kelani Jordan

Vice pinned Jordan to win the match. Just before they went home, Vice sends Brooke crashing into the ring steps. That leaves the rookie Jordan alone, and she is soon given a finisher.

Lopez lifts Jordan like Jim Neidhart setting up the Hart Attack. Vice then delivers a roundhouse kick to Jordan, and she covers her for a pinfall. Brooke is very upset about the loss, and she pitches a fit at ringside after the match.

Gigi Dolan cuts a promo ahead of her fatal four way match later on.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams met up in the locker room. Hayes is worried about whether he can defeat Dragunov, and Hayes wants Williams opinion on the matter.

Dijak defeated Eddy Thorpe

Dijak jumped Thorpe during Thorpe’s entrance, but that backfires on Dijak. Thorpe is a house of fire. He gets several near falls on Dijak early in the match with a strong style approach. Aside from the WWE finish, this bout would have fit on episode of NJPW Strong.

The fighting spills outside the ring at one point, which leads to the turning of the tide. Dijak tosses Thorpe over the announce desk. Dijak grabs a metal folding chair. That seemingly backfires on Dijak at first, but it led to a distraction that won the match for Dijak.

While the referee is busy getting rid of the chair, his back is turned as Dijak wraps a belt around his fist. Dijak waylays Thorpe with a loaded punch, and down goes Thorpe. Dijak follows up with a tornado high kick, and Dijak covers Thorpe for a three count.

Kiana James cuts a promo ahead of the fatal four way main event.

Bron Breakker confronts Baron Corbin in a backstage skit. Breakker wants a “thank you” from Corbin, but Corbin says he did not need Breakker’s help. Breakker warns Corbin about interfering in Breakker’s match next week against Von Wagner. Corbin scoffs at the notion, saying he is not interested in the bout. Corbin leaves, but not before making a smart aleck remark to Breakker on the way out.

Los Lotharios, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo, are featured in another vignette playing off their grandfather. They both have a dream, and they both wake up with fresh wounds. They believe their grandfather visiting them in the dream means a fresh start for them. Next week they return to NXT.

A tribute honors Bray Wyatt with a video package highlighting his career in WWE.

Blair Davenport is the final participant of the fatal four way to cut a promo ahead of the main event.

WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and NXT North American Dominik Mysterio cut a promo on Instagram. Dom proposes a match between Dragon Lee and Mustafa Ali to determine the next challenger to Dom’s title. Dom also offers to be the guest referee in the contender’s match.

Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) defeated Nathan Frazier in a Group B match in the NXT Global Heritage International tournament

Coffey pinned Frazier after a lariat. Coffey earn two points with the win. Another good match to start off the other block in the tournament. Lots of good stuff here.

The match went through a commercial break. Frazier goes for a Phoenix Splash just as they were going home, but no water in the pool. He rolls through, only to be met by a lariat from Coffey. A three count later, and Coffey nets two points.

The tournament continues with matches on NXT Level Up, which premieres Friday on Peacock. Not going to lie, probably going skip that. But it is there for those that celebrate.

Thea Hail is absent from a class at Chase U, breaking her perfect attendance record. Hail finally arrives after class his over. She smarts off to Andre Chase when he tries to scold her. Duke Hudson takes up for her, and he says they are going to study hall. Instead, Hail ditches study hall to go hang out with Jacy Jayne.

In a skit posted on social media, Fallon Henley offers Myles Borne a spot in a trios match teaming with Briggs & Jensen. Borne accepts the offer, and he thanks Henley.

Wes Lee vows to win the NXT Championship in a promo posted on Instagram.

Tyler Bate is interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell, and Bate cuts a promo on Dabbo-Kato.

Kiana James defeated Gigi Dolan, Roxanne Perez and Blair Davenport in a number one contender’s fatal four way match

James pinned Dolan to win the four-way bout. Earning a title shot in winning, James goes on to meet Tiffany Stratton in a title match next Tuesday on NXT.

They wrestled through a commercial break. Perez got to shine just before the show cuts to the split-screen break. Seems like a few potatoes were thrown at times.

The dust settles after some chaotic action, and it comes down to Davenport and Perez. Davenport lands a soccer kick on Perez, just as Perez executes Pop Rocks to Dolan on the floor.

Davenport follows up with a double stomp off the top rope. Perez counters Davenport, and Perez executes Pop Rocks in the ring. Before Perez can capitalize, Davenport rolls outside the ring.

Dolan goes for her finisher on Perez, but Perez counters her. As Perez is fighting with Dolan, in jumps James to deliver a modified flatliner on Perez. James then drops Dolan with a codebreaker, James covers Dolan for a three count.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is seen watching Wes Lee’s promo from Instagram. Hayes then goes into Shawn Michael’s office as the show goes off air.

WWE NXT live results: Bron Breakker speaks about Seth Rollins challenge

One week after issuing a challenge to Seth Rollins, we’ll hear from Bron Breakker on tonight’s episode of NXT.

Last Tuesday’s show ended with Breakker challenging Rollins to come defend the World Heavyweight Championship against him in NXT. Rollins has yet to give his answer. We’ll see if that changes when Breakker appears tonight.

While we don’t know if Rollins will be on the show, we do know that free agents Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin will be in action tonight. Ali will team up with Wes Lee & Tyler Bate in a six-man tag team match against Joe Gacy & The Dyad. Corbin is battling Ilja Dragunov in singles action.

Thea Hail became the number one contender to Tiffany Stratton’s NXT Women’s Championship by winning a battle royal last week. A match between Hail and Cora Jade has been announced for tonight.

Malik Blade vs. Edris Enofe, Roxanne Perez vs. Tatum Paxley, and a Heritage Cup match between Noam Dar and Nathan Frazer have also been announced for tonight’s show. Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

A tribute to Iron Sheik begins the show.

Cold open, meaning no canned intro aside from the “Together” montage that opens every WWE telecast. Live from the soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando, Schism is in the ring with their masks on. Out next is their opponents. Kicking off NXT tonight is six-man tag team match.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee, Mustafa Ali & Tyler Bate defeated The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid with Ava)

Bate pinned Gacy to win the match. Fun opener gets the show off to a hot start.

The Dyad are a seasoned team, and that utilized their teamwork early on, but the babyface team had fire. They each got to explode with a flurry of offense. A trifecta of dives from the babyface trio leads into the first commercial break on the show.

Bate is getting worked over when the show returns from the break. The Dyad had turned the tide during the commercials, but Bate fought from underneath to execute a delayed vertical suplex.

Hot tag to Ali, and is soon tripped up. Ali briefly cleans house, but he is cut off. Bate and Lee jump in to help, and the babyfaces seem to be in charge again. Ali gets in some trouble, but in comes Lee to run wild. However, Lee is soon cut off.

Lee takes a sit-out powerbomb from Gacy where The Dyad assisted by throwing Lee into Gacy’s arms. Looked way more cool than it reads trying to describe it. The referee goes to count a pin on Lee when a second ref jumps into the ring to break the count. Lee is apparently not the legal man, as the ref missed the tag.

Ali dropkicks The Dyad out of the ring, and Bate hits Gacy with a combo of strikes. Ali does a tornado DDT onto the floor, and Lee does a tope suicida to the outside. In the ring, Bate with a Tyler Driver ’97 on Gacy, and Bate scores a pinfall.

Charlie Dempsey and Drew Gulak are backstage with Thea Hail. They are critiquing her win in the battle royal from last week, and Hail bickers with them. Duke Hudson walks in an breaks up the argument. Everyone leaves except Hudson. He calls Andre Chase on his phone, and says things are falling apart here.

Rollins accepts Breakker’s challenge for a World title match

Bron Breakker enters the sound stage for a monologue, wearing a suit and looking extra tan. Breakker begins cutting a promo on WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Out comes Ilja Dragunov and he is fighting mad. Referees and officials hold him back and pull him backstage. People interrupt others’ promos all the time, but this time the refs were ready.

Suddenly, Rollins appears on video link to address Breakker. Rollins at first scoffs at the notion of Breakker wanting a title shot, but Rollins pauses to reflect. He says it would be good to go back home to where it all started. I assume he was not talking about Iowa, but rather NXT.

Rollins accepts the challenge, and the live studio audience pops. Breakker is beaming from ear to ear. Rollins will defend the title next Tuesday live on NXT against Breakker. Studio audience sings Rollins’ theme song as the segment comes to a close.

A video package highlights Dana Brooke, and she is then interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. Brooke says she will wrestle on any brand. Cora Jade interrupts Brooke. Jade is mad that Brooke eliminated her from the battle royal last week. Jade slaps Brooke across the face, after also insulting her. Jade storms off and Brooke seethes.

Mustafa Ali is in the locker room celebrating with Wes Lee and Tyler Bate. Ali convinces Lee and Bate that Ali should be a special referee for the North American title match between Lee and Bate. After they all agree, there is a comedy bit about going to eat a vegan meal.

Thea Hail (with Duke Hudson) defeated Cora Jade

Hail won via submission, thanks to some assistance from Dana Brooke. Some hiccups in the match, but Hail looks to be improving a lot in the ring. Good all things considered.

Brooke comes down to ringside as the match is underway, and she interfered after Jade hit her with a forearm.

Hail was going for a dive when Jade cuts her off. At ringside, Jade hits Brooke, and Jade retrieves her kendo stick. The referee takes it from Jade before she can use it.

As the ref turns off to dispose of the kendo stick, Brooks gets some revenge on Jade. Brooke shoves Jade into the ring steps, and Hail rolls Jade back into the ring. Hail applies a kimura lock on Jade, and Jade taps out.

Shawn Michael via Twitter announces NXT Gold Rush, which is a two week special that begins next Tuesday with the WWE World title match where Rollins defends against Breakker. The following Tuesday in two weeks time is a NXT title match. The winner of tonight’s math between Baron Corbin and Dragunov goes on to face Camerlo Hayes for the NXT title

Noam Dar is in the ring with his stable. Dar is doing the Jerry Lawler gimmick from Summer Slam ’93. Dar is on crutches claiming an injury. Dar accuses Nathan Frazier of attacking him prior to their match tonight. Oro Mensah will replace Dar, and the Heritage Cup is still on the line even though Dar is supposedly injured.

Nathan Frazier (with Dragon Lee) defeated Oro Mensah (with Noam Dar, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) to win the Heritage Cup

Frazier wins 2-1 after four rounds to capture the Heritage Cup. Good match.

Frazier goes to an early lead after scoring a pinfall with a schoolboy roll-up just minutes into the match. Frazier is up 1-0 after round one.

Mensah jumps Frazier as round two begins. At the two-minute mark, Jakara Jackson distracts the referee. Lash Legend then interferes by holding Frazier for Mensah to deliver a spinwheel kick. Mensah covers Frazier for a pinfall to even the score at 1-1 after two rounds.

Third round is joined in progress with under a minute left, after a split-screen commercial break. Frazier goes for a pinfall, but Mensah is saved by the bell as time expires in round three.

Big high spot in the fourth round when Mensah gives Fraizer an avalanche German suplex off the top rope.

Deja vu as Jackson and Legend again attempt to interfere just like they did previously in the match. Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon run down to ringside, and they pull Jackson and Legend off the apron. The two teams brawl at ringside. Meanwhile, Frazier does a double springboard into a Phoenix Splash. Frazier then covers Mensah for a three count to win the Heritage Cup.

Lyra Valkyria is the focus of a vignette as she looks to rebound from defeat.

Von Wagner and Dijak have a brief confrontation in a backstage skit, and then Mr. Stone questions Wagner about his therapy. They have a breakthrough as Wagner tells Stone he is the only person that Wagner trusts.

Axiom & Scrypts defeated Dabba-Kato in a two-on-one handicap match

Axiom pinned Dabbo-Kato to win the match, in somewhat of an upset. Dabbo-Kato is a monster heel, but Axiom and Scrypts used double team moves to get the monster off his feet. This was like two Davids against a Goliath.

Tandem dives and teamwork by Axiom and Scyrpts, including dives to the outside. Moonsault press by Scrypts, and Axiom follows up with Golden Ratio. Axiom then covers Dabbo-Kato for a pinfall. So much for Dabbo-Kato being a monster.

Humberto Carillo and Garza run in after the match, and they jump Axiom and Scrypts. Carillo and Garza beat them down and leave them laying. Studio audience chants “welcome back” for the returning heels, despite the savage beatdown.

Made official for week one of NXT Gold Rush is Wes Lee defending his NXT North American Championship against Tyler Bate, with Mustafa Ali as special guest referee. Announced for two weeks from now, Tiffany Stratton defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Thea Hail. Also on week two of Gold Rush, Seth Rollins defends the WWE World title against Bron Breakker.

Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo is looking like a sleuth from an old noir film. He is searching for who ratted out and dropped a dime on Tony D’Angelo. This reminded me of the skits where Leslie Nielsen was looking for The Undertaker in 1994, except not good as that.

Duke Hudson tells Thea Hail that Hudson is throwing a pep rally for Hail next week ahead of her title shot.

Malik Blade and Edris Enofe enter the soundstage together as a team, despite them being in a match against each other.

Malik Blade defeated Edris Enofe

Blade pinned Enofe in a babyface match.

The team of Hank Walker and Tank Ledger is at ringside, along with the team of Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs. They watch the match as it plays out.

Blade and Enfoe are having a decent enough babyface match when they do a superplex off the top rope, where Enofe suplexed Blade. Reversal of a pinning attempt by Blade, and he scores a pinfall with an inside cradle.

Walker, Ledger, Jensen and Briggs gets into the ring after the match, while Enofe and Blade embrace in a show of sportsmanship and brotherhood. Everybody is getting along when Booker T suddenly chimes in.

Booker T has “breaking news” about the tag title picture. Book announces a triple threat match for next week between the three teams, and the winner gets a tag title match against Gallus in two weeks time. With that the camaraderie is over, and the three teams start brawling in the ring. Meanwhile, Garza and Carillo cut a promo on a perch looking out over the ring.

Eddy Thorpe and Damon Kemp set up another match after Kemp in a skit keeps accusing Thorpe of cheating to win.

Blair Davenport in a vignette details why she ambushed several women on the roster in recent months.

Roxanne Perez defeated Tatum Paxley

Perez pinned Paxley. Perez is seemingly leaps and bounds ahead, in terms of skill, compared to the rest of the NXT women’s roster. She goes on to win this match in what was a glorified enhancement match. Paxley got some offense, but this seemed more about showcasing Perez. She won with a sunset flip, but that could possibly be a botched Pop Rocks as Paxley fell down.

Perez cuts a promo after the match, where Perez says she is hunting for Davenport.

Fallon Henley in a backstage skit warns Gigi Dolan about Kiana James. Dolan seems hell bent on settling a score with James.

A vignette introduces the team of Lucien Price and Bronco Nima. They are coming soon to NXT.

Baron Corbin defeated Ilja Dragunov

Corbin pinned Dragunov, after outside interference by Bron Breakker. Lots of outside interference on this show, which to me made the run-in during the main event mean less.

Corbin has nicer shorts this week for his gear, but paired with the cut-off t-shirt, Corbin still looks like he is headed to play a pickup game of basketball. Not sure how Kevin Owens pulls off that look, but Corbin cannot.

Dragunov tears off the cut-off tee in response to Corbin chopping him. Dragunov rips off the t-shirt and chops Corbin for a recepit. Corbin soon cuts off Dragunov.

Dragunov counters Corbin to deliver a series of suplexes. Constantine Special by Dragunov, and Corbin is reeling as the show cuts to its final commercial break. Corbin cuts off Dragunov during the split-screen break, but Dragunov as regains control by the time the show returns from commercials.

Corbin hip-tosses Dragunov over the ropes, and Dragunov hit the edge of the ring apron hard as he takes a bump outside. While it looked painful, it also played into a subplot in the match since Dragunov came into the match with taped ribs.

Corbin exploits Dragunov’s injury, and Corbin works over Dragunov by targeting the back and ribs. Dragunov sells big, but he still fights back. Corbin keeps targeting the back, yet Dragunov still has fight left in him. He kicks out after Corbin delivers Deep Six.

Dragunov makes a comeback, and he delivers a flying kneedrop. Dragunov follows up with a back senton off the top rope, but Dragunov sells his ribs upon impact. He cannot capitalize due to the injury. They fight on, and Dragunov executes a deadlift suplex.

Dragunov was signalling for his finisher, when Bron Breakker interferes out of nowhere. Dragunov thwarts Breakker’s interference, but that distracts Dragunov. Corbin catches Dragunov with End of Days, and Corbin scores a pinfall.

Breakker brawls with Dragunov after the match, and the fight their way off the set. NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes rushed into the ring and he superkicks Corbin. Hayes then springboards into a flying forearm, and Hayes also executes Nothing But Net on Corbin as the show comes to a close.

WWE NXT live results: Vengeance Day go-home show

The lineup for Vengeance Day will be finalized on tonight’s episode of NXT.

Taking place on tonight’s show is a triple threat match to decide the final NXT Tag Team title challengers for Vengeance Day. Either Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, The Dyad, or Andre Chase & Duke Hudson will join The New Day, Pretty Deadly, and Gallus in Saturday’s fatal four-way bout for the NXT Tag Team titles.

Bron Breakker is defending his NXT Championship against Grayson Waller in a steel cage match at Vengeance Day. We’ll hear from both the champion and challenger tonight.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez will respond to Toxic Attraction’s attack from last week. Perez is defending her title against both Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne in a triple threat match at Vengeance Day.

Plus, The Creed Brothers finally take on Indus Sher tonight, Cora Jade faces Lyra Valkyria, and Stevie Turner makes her NXT in-ring debut.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show is opening with a tag team match that is weeks in the making.

Indus Sher (Sanga & Veer with Jinder Mahal) defeated The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed with Ivy Nile)

Veer pinned Julius Creed to win the match. Heading into the finish, Julius was distracted after he accidentally knocks Ivy Nile off the apron. That followed interference by Jinder Mahal. The bout was a slobberknocker in the closing minutes, but it was plodding up to that point.

The Creeds sold more for their larger opponents, especially Julius. Whereas they usually batter their competition, this was the other way around for much of the match. Indus Sher works over Julius for what felt like ages, but was more like several minutes.

Hot tag to Brutus Creed, and he cleans house with suplexes and hammer fists. Relatively quick tag brings Julius back into the bout. Brutus and Julius both do a standing moonsault, and Julius gets a near fall on Veer. Brutus spears Sanga out of the ring. Julius muscles Veer into a deadlift powerbomb for another two count.

Mahal interferes by grabbing Julius’ foot, and Julius responds by dragging Mahal onto the apron. Ivy Nile gets on the apron to confront Mahal, and she gets in his face. Nile is berating Mahal when Veer sends Julius into the ropes. Julius ducks a clothesline and hits the ropes on the side Nile is standing on. Nile takes a spill on the outside, and she lands hard on the floor. Julius is wide-eyed and seemingly in disbelief as he walks into a Stan Hansen lariat. Veer then chokeslams Julius, and he covers him for a pinfall.

Tyler Bate in a skit starts a conversation with Axiom, who is watching an A-Kid match from NXT UK. Bate tells Axiom that he reminds him of A-Kid, and Axiom says he gets that a lot. He thinks it must be his eyes, which is a joke since he is wearing a mask. In a friendly manner, they are agreeing to have a match tonight when in walks Damon Kemp. He mocks Axiom and Bate, and Kemp then insults the British style of wrestling.

Zoey Stark defeated Indi Hartwell

Stark pinned Hartwell after delivering her modified GTS finisher. So-so match, but the push of Stark continues. The outcome of this match and a post-match attack lead to Sol Ruca making a save to build her emerging feud with Stark.

This match was set up via a locker room skit where Stark and Hartwell argue over their respective performances in the Royal Rumble. Sol Ruca sticks up for Hartwell, and Stark tells Ruca to stay out of her business. Ruca reminded Stark that Hartwell beat Stark once before, but Stark gets her win back here tonight.

The Schism cut a promo ahead of The Dyad’s upcoming tag match tonight.

Apollo Crews cuts a promo talking his plans for the two-out-of-three falls match against Carmelo Hayes this Saturday at Vengeance Day.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee is headed to the ring for an in-ring monologue. Lee discusses his title defense set for Vengeance Day, and Lee vows to retain against Dijak. Out comes Dijak to interrupt Lee, and Dijak threatens Lee with violence. Lee responds by standing up to Dijak’s bully tactics. Von Wagner and Mr. Stone interrupt champion and challenger.

Wagner gets into the ring to confront Dijak, and Lee eggs on a beef between Wagner and Dijak. Wagner feels overlooked as a title contender. Lee proposes a match tonight with Dijak against Wagner. A brawl erupts where Dijak and Wagner slug it out. The match is made official, and the show cuts to the commercial break as their bout begins.

Dijak defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone)

Dijak pinned Wagner in a match that builds anticipation ahead of Dijak challenging for the North American title on Saturday. I question the logic of beating Wagner so cleanly, but they have a decent enough battle of the tough guys.

Both seem like heels, but this must be shades of grey. They have a hoss fight regardless, and there are some heavy-hitting spots. They trade near falls. Dijak gets a two count after chokeslaming Wagner. Moments later, Wagner gives Dijak a butterfly superplex off the ropes.

For the finish, Dijak catches Wagner in a chokehold. Wagner went to slam Dijak, but Dijak countered into the choke. Dijak then executes Feast Your Eyes, and Dijak covers Wagner for a three count.

Tony D’Angelo and Stacks in a skit talk about going to take care of things. Stack took care of that one thing, and D’Angelo says they should go take care of the other thing.

McKenzie Mitchell breaks down video footage of Nikkita Lyons’ attack. Lots of questions and no answers on the unknown assailant in what seems like a Tonya Harding type of assault.

An “Inside Look” into the NXT title match at Vengeance Day details NXT Champion Bron Breakker’s feud with Grayson Waller. They meet Saturday in a cage match with the title at stake.

Tyler Bate defeated Axiom

Bate pinned Axiom in what is so far the best match on the show. They had a clinic at the start, and they eventually increase their pacing and intensity. The finishing sequence was great.

Playing on this being friendly competition, they have a babyface match. They grapple and trade moves. They both spill out to the floor, and both are down selling as show cuts to commercials. The match goes through a split-screen commercial break.

They trade submission hold and they also trade near falls. As they go home, they traded counters. Bate looks to set up his finisher, but Axiom has a counter. Bate has a counter of his own as well, and he ultimately delivers the Tyler Driver ’97. Bate then covers Axiom for a pinfall.

Damon Kemp runs in to attack Axiom after the match. Axiom is shaking hands with Bate in a show of sportsmanship when Kemp blindsides Axiom with a sneak attack.

Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre have apparently joined forces in a unholy alliance. They practice some witchcraft to seal the deal.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Hayes cuts a good promo on Apollo Crews ahead of their match at Vengeance Day.

The announcers, Vic Joseph and Booker T, throw to a sit-down interview with Toxic Attraction and NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez in separate places. This was similar to the old “Face-to-Face” segments on Superstars back in the day, where the heels and babyface bicker back-and-forth while hyping their upcoming match.

The duo of Toxic Attraction, Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne, are facing Perez in a triple threat title match at Vengeance Day. The heel duo insult Perez so much that Perez seemingly storms out of the interview. Jayne and Dolan look to end the segment by cutting promos on Perez. There is a slight tease of tension within Toxic Attraction, just as Perez runs in to attack Dolan and Jayne.

Stevie Turner defeated Dani Palmer

Turner pinned Palmer in what is Turner’s in-ring debut on NXT with her new gimmick. Turner’s gimmick is she is a streamer and podcaster, and her look reminds me of something out of Blade Runner.

Palmer got some offense, but this was basically a showcase match for Turner. A pump kick by Turner led into a wicked looking DDT. Turner then uses a uranage for her finisher, and she covers Palmer for a pinfall. Vic Joseph called the finish “futuristic” like this is the second coming of Techno Team 2000 or something.

Drew Gulak (with Hank Walker) defeated Charlie Dempsey

Gulak pinned Dempsey, thanks in part to inadvertent help from Walker. Technically speaking this was a good match, and it was possibly better in that regard than Bate against Axiom from earlier on the show. However, this match was not as exciting as Bate-Axiom.

They wrestled through a split-screen commercial break. Great grappling and submission sequences in this bout, but the live studio audience seemed to sit on their hands at times. They might not have known who to cheer for, as both have been heels in recent weeks. The crowd eventually starts to clap and rally around Dempsey.

Gulak is struggling to break a crossface chicken wing applied by Dempsey. Walker shouts some encouragement for Gulak to counter, and Gulak does find a way escape the hold. In doing so, Gulak sends Dempsey crashing into Walker. Gulak then uses a schoolboy to roll up a dazed Dempsey for a three count.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Thea Hail) defeated The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler with Joe Gacy & Ava Raine) and Edris Enofe & Malik Blade in a triple threat match as part of the New Day Tag Team Invitational

Hudson pinned Reid to win the match, which qualifies Chase and Hudson for the four-way match for the NXT Tag Team Championship on Saturday.

Heat on Chase that builds to a hot tag where Hudson runs wild on The Dyad. Hudson gets a near fall, and then he stomps the mat signalling for a finisher of some sort. A blind tag by Blade thwarts Hudson’s plan, and Blade leaps into the ring.

After leaping in, Blade also leaps out of the ring. Enofe tags in before he  drops a Macho Man flying elbow off the top rope. Enofe and Blade execute a double-team fireman’s carry/neckbreaker combo for a near fall. Everybody else jumps in to break up the pinning attempt.

Blade and Enofe with stereo flip dives over the ropes to the floor. Enofe is crotched going for another high risk move. Fowler and Reid are trying to set up a double-team superplex on Enofe, when Chase makes a blind tag. That leads to a Tower of Doom spot, and Chase does the Garvin Stomp on Reid.

Ava Raine jumps on the apron to cause a distraction, but she is pulled down by Thea Hail. The attempt to distract backfires on The Schism. A distracted Reid misses a running dropkick in a corner, and Chase tags in Hudson. Chase and Hudson do a tandem team move where Chase gives Reid a flatliner. Hudson then covers Reid for a pinfall to win the match.

The teams of Gallus and Pretty Deadly come out after the match for a stare down with Chase U. NXT Tag Team Champions The Day appear on the Titantron, and they congratulate Chase U.

The show ends with a video package that is a hard sell hyping Vengeance Day on Saturday.

WWE NXT live results: North American title match

Before heading to SmackDown, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott will have a North American Championship defense tonight.

The rivalry between Hit Row and Legado del Fantasma will culminate as Scott defends his North American Championship against Santos Escobar on tonight’s NXT. It will be Scott’s first title defense since winning the North American Championship from Bronson Reed this June.

In the WWE Draft, Hit Row (Scott, Top Dolla, Ashante “Thee” Adonis & B-Fab) were selected by SmackDown. The post-draft rosters don’t officially go into effect until Friday, October 22.

At NXT’s Halloween Havoc special episode later this month, Tommaso Ciampa will put his NXT Championship on the line against Bron Breakker. That match will become a triple threat if Joe Gacy defeats Ciampa in their non-title bout tonight.

Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner will team up tonight as they face Pete Dunne & Ridge Holland. Holland was also selected by SmackDown in the draft.

Plus, there will be a new edition of Lashing Out with Lash Legend. Diamond Mine’s Ivy Nile will also make her in-ring debut.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

North American Champion Isaiah Swerve Scott arrives to the building along with B-Fab and Top Dolla. Scott is wearing headphones, so he is unaware when Legado del Fantasma jumped Hit Row. Santos Escobar attacks Swerve, leaving him laying. B-Fab and Top Dolla were then kidnapped by Legado del Fantasma. I personally haven’t hardly ever seen a wrestling show open with a kidnapping.

Joe Gacy, sitting in a chair, cut a promo from the ring. Using a lot of buzzwords like “safe space” and such, he said a lot without really saying anything at all. Calling the fans “snowflakes,” he dedicated the match to them before vowing to win. At least that’s what I think he meant. The announcers acted as if they had no idea either, so I don’t feel too bad being somewhat lost.

NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa  defeated Joe Gacy in a non-title match

Ciampa pinned Gacy clean.

While the match was decent enough, the first half wasn’t all that exciting either. Ciampa is a ring general, but Gacy is able to cut him off several times. Ciampa was fired up after the show returned from a commercial break.

After trading strikes, Gacy gets a near fall. Follows that up by missing a moonsault. Ciampa looked to end it, but Gacy counters him for a roll-up and a two count. Ciampa soon cut off Gacy, and Ciampa delivers a Fairy Tale Ending. Ciampa then covers Gacy for a clean pinfall.

Ciampa was attacked by Harland, who was sitting in the crowd during the match. Gacy was grabbed by the throat, but he stroked the Harland’s face, and he let Gacy live. Zero time to digest what just happened, because here comes the Toxic Attraction trio.

Toxic Attraction enters the scene for an in-ring promo. Mandy Rose challenges NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez to a title match at Halloween Havoc. Rose called herself “the baddest bitch in the game.” Also, Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne vowed to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. As soon as the trio was done speaking, the theme music hit for the next match.

Xyon Quinn defeated Malik Blade

Quinn pinned Blade in a short match. Nothing bad, but another unexciting match.

It was mostly all Quinn for much of the way, but Blade got to shine just before the finish. Blade delivered a missile dropkick, and he got a near fall after a roll-up. Quinn again used the flying forearm for his finisher, and kind of setting it up like Roman Reigns does the Superman punch.

Ciampa was doing a backstage interview when he was confronted by Grizzled Young Veterans. They looked to bully Ciampa, but Bron Breakker walked in to have Ciampa’s back. Breakker says he stands by Ciampa’s side until Halloween Havoc because he wants Ciampa at his best in their title match.

Ivy Nile (with Diamond Mine) defeated Valentina Feroz

Nile submitted Feroz in her debut match on NXT.

Not a particularly good match, but Nile looked impressive. She did a lot of power moves, showing off her strength. Nile won with a torture rack where Nile was squatting with Feroz on her shoulders. Feroz tapped out.

Malcolm Bivens cut a promo after the match as Diamond Mind flanked Nile. Bivens called her a pit bull on the loose. Bivens also put over the Creed Brothers, claiming they are the most dominate team in the promotion. Bivens then gave a grand intro to NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong.

Diamond Mine was interrupted by Ikeman Jiro, who is great by the way. The heels cleared the ring, excpet for Julius Creed. He got in Jiro’s face and cut a promo on Jiro, so Jiro kneed Creed in the face. The show cut to a commercial break with a tease of a match between the two. Sure enough, they were wrestling in the show returned from the break.

Julius Creed defeated Ikeman Jiro

Creed pinned Jiro after a sliding lariat.

Creed was manhandling Jiro as the match was joined in progress. Jiro made a comeback. He and his suit jacket fired up on Creed. No Place Like Home moonsault by Jiro for a nearfall. Jiro followed up with an Asai moonsault. However, Creed caught him on a springboard. Creed then nailed Jiro with a sliding lariat, and Creed covers him for a pinfall.

Diamond Mine attack Jiro afterwards for a post-match beatdown. Kushida ran down to make a save, except Kushida was also on the receiving end of a beatdown at the hands of Diamond Mine.

A vignette highlighted Raquel Gonzalez, and she cut a promo on Mandy Rose. Gonzalez upped the stakes, challenging Rose to Spin the Wheel and Make the Deal.

Lashing Out with Lash Legend featured talk about the WWE Draft. There was a Squid Game joke. Legend put over Hit Row. Legend also wants nothing to do with Tony D’Angelo.

Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner defeated Ridge Holland & Pete Dunne

Wagner pinned Holland in a match that showcased Wagner. He was made to look like a killer. It sort of worked out that way.

Focus was mostly on Wagner and Holland. O’Reilly and Dunne were almost playing second fiddle to the big guys in the match. It pains me to type that last sentence.

Wagner cleaned house before the show cut to a commercial break. Holland is working over O’Reilly when the show is back from the break. Ring is cut in half as the heels keeps O’Reilly from making a tag. O’Reilly is finally able to make it to his corner, but Wagner is not there because Wagner was knocked off the apron.

Hope spot for O’Reilly, but he was soon mowed down by Holland. Wagner made a save. Hot tag to Wagner, and Wagner was a house of fire on Holland. Wagner yelled for O’Reilly to “finish him.” So, O’Reilly leapt off the ring apron with a flying knee on Dunne. Wagner with a modified butterfly suplex on Holland, and Wagner covers him for a three count.

In the second kidnapping of the show, Tony D’Angelo apparently put a producer in the trunk of a car because the producer big leagued D’Angelo.

Duke Hudson defeated Grayson Waller

Hudson upset Waller with a handful of tights. Okay match, and the feud will probably continue judging by the finish.

Waller was made to look like a superstar, and he even got an in-set promo where he talking about being a boxer. On the other hand was Hudson, who got no entrance. Hudson was introduced like he was The Gambler on an episode of WCW Worldwide. That made Hudson’s win all the more surprising.

Waller delivers a stunner leading into the finish. He tried to follow up with a springboard, but Hudson tripped him up. Hudson then covered Waller, hooked a leg, and held the tights to get the pinfall.

A vignette highlighted Imperium.

Spin the Wheel Make the Deal was made an official stipulation for the Women’s title match at Halloween Havoc.

Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta defeated Sarray & Amari Miller

So much for Sarray getting any sort of push as this was a glorified squash match. Pirotta picked up Miller in a fireman’s carry, and Miller took a facebuster from there. Hartwell then springboarded into the ring with a flying elbow drop, and Hartwell covered Miller for a pinfall.

Pirotta after the match called out the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. Out comes the champs, Io Shirai and Zoey Starks. Shirai rants in Japanese, and she doesn’t like anyone. Toxic Attraction interrupts them. Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne brawl with the champs, and a melee ensues involving all three teams. The champs cleaned house and stood tall.

Grayson Waller was backstage being a player. Cameron Grimes talked to him, and Waller gave Waller advice on dating women. Waller introduced Grimes to online dating apps. Remember when Grimes was a featured star on NXT? Those were good times.

NXT North American Champion Isaiah “Swerve” Scott defeated Santos Escobar to retain his title

Scott pinned Escobar to retain, but that would not be Scott’s last title match before leaving for Smackdown.

In a receipt from earlier in the show, Scott jumped Escobar before the bell. Escobar was on rubber legs as the bout began. He took a powder, but Scott went out after him with a Fosbury Flop over the ropes the floor.

Scott worked over Escobar, and Scott looked in complete control. Escobar eventually countered Scott, and Escobar soon flew through the ropes with a tope before the show cut to a picture-in-picture commercial break.

Tide had turned when the show came back from the break. Escobar was working over Scott. A comeback by Scott led into him firing up. On a roll through, Escobar with another counter cut off Scott. Frog splash by Escobar for a near fall.

They fought on the apron, and Escobar is given a Death Valley Driver on the ring apron. Scott follows up with a 450 splash, but Escobar gets his knees up to block the 450.

Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde run in, and they jump on the apron to cause a distraction. Camerlo Hayes and Trick Williams run down to pull Legado del Fantasma off the apron. Hayes and Williams beat up Mendoza and Wilde. Meanwhile, Escobar hits an exposed turnbuckle, and Scott delivers a JML Driver. Scott then pinned Escobar to retain.

Hayes after the match lifted the hand of Scott, but it was a trap. Hayes leveled Scott with a short-arm clothesline. Hayes is cashing in his Breakout contract.

Carmelo Hayes defeated NXT North American Champion Isaiah “Swerve” Scott to win the title

Hayes quickly springboarded into a flying clothesline. Scott kicked out at two and half. Hayes floored Scott with a scissor kick, and Hayes climbed the turnbuckles. Hayes leapt off the top with a guillotine leg drop, and he covered Scott for a pinfall to win the title.

WWE NXT live results: Tag Team titles on the line

Preview by Joseph Currier

The NXT Tag Team titles will be on the line tonight — but who Matt Riddle will be teaming with isn’t known yet.

It was announced on WWE’s The Bump today that Riddle will be teaming with a temporary partner while Pete Dunne is unable to travel due to the coronavirus pandemic. Riddle and his partner will defend their titles against the Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish tonight.

When he comes back, Dunne will return to being NXT Tag Team Champions with Riddle if he and his partner haven’t lost the titles.

Finn Balor’s feud with Imperium will continue as he faces off with Fabian Aichner tonight. NXT’s interim Cruiserweight Championship tournament is also set to begin.

WWE will follow up on Io Shirai becoming the number one contender to Charlotte Flair’s NXT Women’s Championship. The build to an eventual Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream NXT Championship match will also continue tonight. Cole has challenged Dream to meet him for a face-to-face chat.

Our coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are back on commentary and in Full Sail.

Finn Balor defeated Fabian Aichner (w/ Marcel Barthel)

Balor pinned Aichner despite interference by Barthel.

Balor’s feud with Imperium continues as does the build towards him challenging WALTER for the NXT UK Championship — even if that match cannot place takes for an indefinite amount of time due to the ongoing pandemic. Balor is slowly working his way through Imperium before meeting the boss.

Aichner would try to gain control at the outset, but Balor kept thwarting his attempts. Balor flew through the ropes with a dropkick to the floor, and then he looked directly into the camera. Balor pointed finger guns like was still in the Bullet Club as the show went to its first commercial break.

Barthel at ringside interfered by grabbing Balor’s foot shortly afte the show returned from break. That gave Aichner breathing room to use a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker that turned the tide. Balor soon fired up and fought back. A double stomp by Balor led into a sling blade.

Barthel caused a distraction that allowed Aichner to schoolboy Balor. Although Balor got his shoulder up to break the count on the roll-up, Aichner deadlifted him — and then he heaved Balor across the ring for a powerbomb.

Barthel pulled Balor outside and propped him against the ring steps, but Balor was able to move out of harm’s way. Aichner collided with the steps when he tried charging at Balor. Aichner then took a sling blade on the floor. Balor dropkicked Barthel into the barricade and it collapsed under his weight.

Aichner briefly cut off Balor and he went for a double springboard moonsault — but he missed. Balor with a shotgun dropkick into the corner, and he followed with Coup de Grace. Balor delivered the 1916, and he covered Aichner for the pinfall.

A Flair for the gold: The Next Generation

NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in pre-tape segment talked about winning the title. She claimed her title win “is going to soldify my legacy” because she will do what no else has done before. Flair said she is going to dominate three eras — the past, the present and the future.

She ran down her list of title wins over notable opponents. For the past five years she has been the most dominate. She beat everyone and left Ronda Rousey a “broken woman” — and now is coming to NXT to face the next generations.

“I’m coming to NXT to run through the best division in WWE,” Charlotte said.

She mentioned some challengers before saying she had her eye on Mia Yim. She wants to give Yim the first title shot, and Charlotte noted Yim was her first opponent on TV in NXT. Then she will run through everyone else.

Flair went on to say after she defeats them all there will be no doubt Charlotte Flair is “the greatest of all time — the past, present and future.”

Xia Lee defeated Aliyah

Lee pinned Aliyah to gain a measure of revenge. This match was set up after a Tonya Harding angle where Aliyah attacked Lee before her match on a previous episode.

Lee showed a lot of fire at the start. Aliyah played a cat-and-mouse game as Lee chased her around the ring. Aliyah used the referee as a shield, and then she dropped Lee with a cheapshot kick.

Aliyah worked over Lee, but Lee eventually made a comeback. Lee would deliver a spinning wheel kick before covering Aliyah for the pinfall.

Matt Riddle was supposedly on the phone with Pete Dunne — who would not reveal to Riddle the mystery partner for the tag team title match later on.

Akira Tozawa defeated Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in a Groub B match in the Cruiserweight Championship tournament

Tozawa pinned Scott to get the first victory in the tournament. If this is any indication, this tourney is going to deliver some great matches.

They traded strikes. Tozawa took a big bump off the apron to the floor before a commercial break. Swerve had Tozawa grounded when the show returned from commercial.

Tozawa leapt off the apron with a somersault senton. Moments later Tozawa locked in an octopus hold and transitioned into a sleeper. Swerve countered a choke to deliver a brainbuster.

Swerve rallied and delivered the House Call. Tozawa kicked out and they fought on. Tozawa with an exploder in a corner, and he followed with a senton bomb off the top to score the pinfall.

Tozawa in a post-match interview said he must keep fighting and winning — and he will become the champion again.

A vignette hyped the arrival of Hijo del Fantasma. His lucha libre heritage was acknowleded as he in Spanish narrated a video package. He has a newly designed mask — presumably a design that WWE will own.

Tegan Nox defeated Raquel Gonzalez (w/ Dakota Kai)

Nox pinned Gonzalez with a roll-up thanks to Shotzi Blackeart making a save when Kai interfered. This would in theory set up a tag team match.

Gonzalez dominated at the outset as she mauled Nox. Gonzalez dashed some hope spots, and Kai got involved at one point when she jumped on the apron. Kai kicked Nox, and Shotzi Blackheart ran down to jump Kai.

Blackheart waylaid Kai, and Gonzalez was distracted by the melee at ringside. Gonzalez went to chokeslam Blackheart, but Nox instead rolled up Gonzalez with a schoolgirl for the pinfall.

Basking in the glory of Keith Lee

Next up was a tremendous min-doc telling the story of Keith Lee.

Lee narrated a look back at his journey to NXT. It began when he was five years old. His grandmother introduced him to pro wrestling. She talked about the Von Erichs and the Freebirds, but it was Macho Man Randy Savage that really caught his attention.

At the age of 20 Lee decided to become a wrestler. His family did not want him to to pursue the dream — especially his father. Lee said he stole his own car so he could sneak off to do a show with Mick Foley. He was kicked out of the house for that, and he was homeless for a time.

“When they talk about sacrifice,” Lee said. “I have literally sacrificed everything to make this work.”

For 13 years he was turned down “here” and “there” — but he finally made it to NXT. “Guess who stands out?” It’s him.

Lee won the NXT North American Championship and everything has come full circle. A clip showd Foley praising Lee’s work backstage after a match in NXT.

This mini-doc was a great piece of business. Highly recommend watching it, and then skipping the next match.

Dexter Lumis defeated Tehuti Miles

Lumis submitted Miles in a short match. Lumis stalked Miles, and Miles tried to fire up. Lumis cut him off and stalked him some more. Uranage led into an Anaconda Vice for the submission.

NXT Champion Adam Cole was poolside again. He scoofed at the notion he would show up tonight to confront Velveteen Dream. Cole cut a thinly veiled promo on Dream that brought up current events without actually mentioning the pandemic. Cole said nobody was worthy of a title shot.

Okay, this is BS and a complete bait-and-switch. After plugging a “face-to-face” segment, we instead got Dream responding with a promo from an empty arena. At least Cole took the heat by being a chickens**t heel. We would still get a confrontation — just not with Cole and Dream.

Dream was at a podium cutting his promo when Finn Balor interrupted him. This angle would set up a match for next Wednesday.

Balor told Dream he has remained silent — but no more. Balor said when you talk about the greatest NXT Champion — you’re talking about him. Balor warned Dream that making “ignorant comments will get you a date with the ‘Prince’.”

Dream then challenged Balor to a match next week on NXT.

Also announced for next week on NXT were three more matches in the cruiserweight tournament:

  • El Hijo del Fantasma vs. Jack Gallagher
  • Kushida vs. Tony Nese
  • Drake Maverick vs. Jake Atlas

Shotzi Blackeart & Tegan Nox against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez was also made official stemming from the angle earlier in the show.

Malcom Bivens cut a promo flanked by Idus Sher. They want a tag team title match.

Timothy Thatcher & Matt Riddle defeated Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong) to retain the NXT Tag Team Championship

Thatcher substituted for Dunne and submitted Strong with an armbar.

Making his debut on NXT TV, Thatcher was revealed as the mystery partner. Dunne in a pre-tape video introduced Thatcher as his replacement. On commentary Thatcher was called “the meanest son of bitch you will ever see.”

Riddle started with Fish. They grappled for a few minutes until Fish took a suplex and powdered before a commercial.

Thatcher tagged in after the break. You’d think they would have saved that for a hot tag — but nope. Thatcher simply tagged in and started stretching Strong. Thatcher would still get a hot tag later on.

Thatcher was cut off, and Undisputed Era began to work him over. Thatcher was soon able to tag Riddle.

Riddle with a penalty kick for a two count. He then gave Fish a series of gutwrench suplexes. Strong tried to break it up, but Thatcher made the save and gave Strong a gutwrench in stereo with Riddle suplexing Fish.

Fish clipped Thatcher on the outside, and Strong took over on Riddle. Undisputed Era worked over Riddle for a few minutes. Riddle took an Olympic Slam before the show cut to its final commercial break.

The onslaught by Undisputed Era continued after the break. Riddle with a fishermam’s buster to create separation. Thatcher cleaned house after a hot tag.

Thatcher went for an armbar, but Strong got to the ropes. Thatcher with a big overhead chop. Fish jumped in to give Strong an opportunity to strike back.

Undisputed Era double-teamed Thatcher. Riddle jumped to proverbially take a bullet for the save. Thatcher traded some strikes with Strong, and then Thatcher caught Strong in the Fijiwara armbar for the submission.

Ciampa attacked

Tommaso Ciampa addressed Johnny Gargano in a pre-tape promo that closed the show. Ciampa said he was done with Gargano and Candice LeRae. He was “done with all of this” as they agreed when it was over then it was over — referring to the blow off match from last week.

Ciampa was about to say Gargano was the better man when he was suddenly ambushed by an unkown assailant. As Ciampa lay motionless, the identity of his attacker was clear — it was Killer Kross.

WWE NXT results: A Glorious Celebration

The Big News: Bobby Roode had his Glorious Celebration after winning the NXT Championship at TakeOver.

The Medium News: SAnitY went 2-0, winning the tag team opener and the six-man main event.

The Little Beaver-sized News: The Revival challenged The Authors of Pain for NXT TakeOver: Orlando.

**********

Nigel McGuinness has officially taken over for Corey Graves. Plus they have already updated the opening video package to include footage from TakeOver.

**********

SAnitY defeated The Bollywood Boyz

The fans cheered for Harv and Gurv Sihra, but they also recognized they were the lambs being led to slaughter. Alexander Wolfe and the very hairy Killian Dain were the representatives of SAnitY. Harv and Gurv both got run over by Dain. Neither had any luck on their own nor when they tried to double team.

Dain used a Wasteland on Gurv and then powerbombed Harv on top of his brother before he finished off The Bollywood Boyz with the One Winged Angel. Wolfe never tagged in and never needed to.

Nikki Cross bellowed to bring her Asuka after the match and then slammed her head into the turnbuckles. Eric Young cut a promo about how he humbled Tye Dillinger and is telling Dillinger he belongs with SAnitY.

**********

Liv Morgan defeated Billie Kay

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce’s ring entrance was absurdly long and Liv Morgan had to stand there and watch. Morgan kicked out of Eat Defeat a minute in. She made her comeback and won with a roll-up when she knocked Kay into Royce, who had jumped up on the apron.

**********

Tye Dillinger was staring off into the distance backstage and said that he was not humbled by SAnitY and will also not be joining them. Dillinger was about to talk about being in the Royal Rumble when SAnitY attacked him! They beat on Dillinger all the way to the ring when Roderick Strong and No Way Jose ran in for the save.

The three of them teamed up to send SAnitY fleeing for the back.

**********

William Regal was backstage and announced Tyler Bate vs. Trent Seven for the WWE UK Championship next week.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce stormed into the office and demanded a match against Liv Morgan. They wanted a handicap match, but when Mr. Regal made a tag team match (allowing Morgan to team with anyone) they began laughing saying Morgan has no friends.

**********

The Revival defeated Heavy Machinery

Heavy Machinery is Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic, and they have officially re-debuted on TV. They originally wrestled together during the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic after being a regular team on the NXT house show circuit.

Knight and Dozovic towered over The Revival. At one point Knight had Dash Wilder up with a bearhug and then literally threw him into the arms of Dozovic, who had his own bearhug.

The former two-time champs got the heat on Dozovic. Knight got the hot tag and ran wild on The Revival. Knight went to tag out, but Wilder pulled Dozovic off the apron. Knight chased Wilder all around the ring, but when he rolled back in, Scott Dawson kicked him in the gut and pinned him with a DDT.

The Revival cut a promo, reminding people that they are the greatest tag team in NXT. They stated that they were the Tag Team of The Year, which led to a few fans chanting that they deserve it. Revival said DIY never deserved to be Tag Team Champions, which was proven when they got demolished by The Authors of Pain. They said they have carried the tag team division and said that at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, they will make the AOP a footnote.

Before they could leave, out came the new NXT Tag Team Champions, The Authors of Pain. Revival ducked out of the ring, pantomiming that they won’t wrestle until money and the championships are on the line.

As AOP backed up the aisle, The Revival ran in from out of nowhere, attacking Akam and Rezar from behind! They knocked Akam off the ramp, kicked Rezar a few times, and then ran away.

**********

SAnitY vs. Dillinger, Strong & Jose was made for tonight’s main event.

**********

To prepare for his title defense against Trent Seven next week, we got a video package for Tyler Bate.

**********

It was time for the Glorious Celebration! For the first time since becoming the NXT Champion, Bobby Roode has arrived in Full Sail University. Roode must have watched Billie Kay and Peyton Royce’s entrance from earlier as he decided to somehow take even longer walking to the ring.

I just wanted to mention, as a quick trivia note, when the current NXT debuted in June 2012 and crowned their first champion, the TNA Champion was Bobby Roode.

Roode said he is not the guy to walk around and say that he told you so, but then began laughing, saying he is totally that guy. From the moment he stepped into an NXT ring, he told everybody that he was on a completely different level. Night after night, TakeOver after TakeOver, he proved just that.

Roode said Shinsuke Nakamura dominated Japan for a decade (he stopped to tell people what a decade was) and then he came to NXT and defeated every person he got in the ring with…except Roode. Nakamura hit him with everything he had, including the Kinshasa, and despite that he still didn’t get the job done.

He said winning the title was the single greatest moment in NXT history because now they have a real champion. He did a little bit of a Ric Flair strut and said it is no longer “We are NXT,” it is Bobby Roode’s NXT. He finished by saying this NXT is simply glorious.

**********

Next up we got a Trent Seven video package, discussing Mustache Mountain and showing highlights of the UK title tournament.

**********

SAnitY defeated Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong & No Way Jose

SAnitY was in the opener and the main event this week. After each babyface had made their individual entrances, they attacked SAnitY on the ramp.

Jose and Wolfe grabbed each other’s hair and beard, but Jose got the better of their interaction. Young tagged in and Jose again got the better of EY. Finally Dain tagged in and got sustained offense on Dillinger while screaming at the other babyfaces.

Dain tagged out, which allowed Dillinger to make the hot tag to Strong. Strong heaved Wolfe into the air for a backbreaker. Strong went for a Sick Kick on Young, but Dain tripped Strong. Dillinger hit the Tye Breaker on Young but, behind the referee’s back, Nikki Cross gave Dillinger a hurricarana over the top rope.

While that was going on, Dain ran over Strong and Young pinned him, giving SAnitY the win.

So that does it for this week. Thank you all for reading and until next week remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!

WWE NXT results: Matches from Osaka, Japan

The Big News: Shinsuke Nakamura has unbelievably won the NXT Championship…oh wait. I’ve said that before.

The Medium News: DIY defeated Akira Tozawa & Tajiri in the show stealer.

The Little Beaver-sized News: Nia Jax may be unstoppable on Raw, but Asuka easily stops her on NXT, as the Empress of Tomorrow beat Jax for the second time.

**********

So before we begin this week, will it ever be explained why the shows aired in the order they did? Why didn’t they air Osaka on the 14th, Australia on the 21st, and the shows that aired those two weeks afterwards? Instead, I get to review shows out of chronological order and whose results have already been talked about on TV.

Oney Lorcan defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas

This is a rematch from the dark match from NXT TakeOver: Dallas, when they were known as Manny Andrade and Chris Girard.

Almas came out in his La Sombra mask before unmasking for the match. If you are a fan of chinlocks and headlocks, then the first half of this match is the match for you. Both men made excessive use of rest holds. Things picked up when they finally stood up. Lorcan hit a running blockbuster for a two count.

The fans were very much into this match once the men stopped with the rest holds. Lorcan did several corner charges, but on the third one he got hip tossed into the corner. Lorcan used an exploder suplex from the top rope to get the win.

That was surprising. Lorcan now has wins over Almas and Tye Dillinger.

Peyton Royce & Billie Kay defeated Liv Morgan & Aliyah

This match seemed at times to be an excuse for Corey Graves to tell every New Jersey joke he knows. Morgan took Royce for a ride when she slapped on a body scissors and then rolled all over the ring, getting about a dozen one-counts during the second that Royce’s shoulder was on the mat.

The heels got the heat on Aliyah. After what seemed like hours of getting the heat, Morgan got the hot tag and ran wild on both ladies. Aliyah, who just got her butt kicked for two weeks, ran back in like a house on fire. It didn’t matter, however. Aliyah got thrown out of the ring and Kay pinned Morgan after a bulldog onto Royce’s knee.

Has anyone else noticed Aliyah fails at almost everything she tries on TV?

NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated Tajiri & Akira Tozawa to retain their titles

This was the first match where it seemed like the wrestlers involved were going out of their way to have a great match, as opposed to a house show match.

Tozawa, who has yet to have a match on 205 Live, is here teaming with Tajiri to challenge for the seven pounds of gold. All four men worked as babyfaces. Tozawa at times was more of a tweener, but never a full blown heel.

Tozawa and Ciampa traded hard knife edge chops, much to the delight of the crowd. A four-way brawl broke out with Tozawa hitting multiple suicide dives to the champions on the outside. Tozawa actually took most of the match for his team. Tajiri would get in here and there, but it was mostly his partner. Tajiri did get Gargano down and go for the Kick of Death, but Gargano rolled out of the way and kicked Tajiri in the head.

Tozawa used a deadlift delayed German suplex and a bicycle kick to the back of Ciampa’s head, but Ciampa took his head off with a clothesline and a powerbomb onto his knees. Finally, DIY retained the gold with the running knees to Tozawa.

NXT Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Nia Jax to retain her title

Jax was unsuccessful in her first attempt at defeating the Empress of Tomorrow, back at NXT TakeOver: The End, but will tonight be her night?

Spoiler: No. No, it won’t.

They tried to work a match that made you think Jax had a chance, but no one believed that she would be taking the title to Raw. The match was solid, but again, nothing you wouldn’t see at a house show. They did have a rough spot in the middle where Jax went for a Samoan drop but something went wrong and they fell on each other.

Asuka got on a kneebar that Jax sold like near death…until she got out of it. Then it was like it never happened. The Japanese crowd watches too much NXT, as when Asuka was being counted out they chanted “10” for each number.

Asuka went for every submission she knows, but Jax not only didn’t tap, but somehow turned a triangle choke into a powerbomb. Asuka moved out of the way of a corner splash and chopped down Jax, before winning with a roundhouse kick.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated NXT Champion Samoa Joe to win the title

They aired the full match this time, as opposed to the condensed version that they did three weeks ago. At one point, Joe removed the top half of the steps outside the ring, which wasn’t aired the first time and they eventually came back to it later. Joe worked over the knees of Nakamura, which made the match make more sense.

The match was better the second time around, as you got to see everything, as opposed to earlier. Nakamura won with the Kinshasa to win the NXT Championship for the second time.

Until next week, thank you all for reading and remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!
