WWE NXT live results: Wolf Dogs vs. Alpha Academy

Alpha Academy are in NXT tonight for a tag match with Stand & Deliver implications.

Akira Tozawa & Otis are facing NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin tonight. Though the belts aren’t on the line, Alpha Academy have the chance to earn a title shot with a victory. Tozawa & Otis will be added to the tag title match at NXT Stand & Deliver if they defeat Breakker & Corbin tonight.

Breakker & Corbin are set to defend against either Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro, Axiom & Nathan Frazer, or Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson at Stand & Deliver.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is defending against Tony D’Angelo at the WrestleMania weekend NXT event. Tonight, Dragunov takes on D’Angelo’s associate Stacks.

Shawn Spears vs. Dijak, Josh Briggs vs. Duke Hudson, Thea Hail vs. Jazmyn Nyx, and a Lola Vice open challenge have all been announced for tonight. There will also be Prime Target vignettes building up Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes for Stand & Deliver.

We’ll hear from Ridge Holland tonight as well. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

*************************

NXT is on the air, and two enigmatic characters clash in a singles bout that opens the show from a sound stage at the Performance Center. Not sure who is the protagonist in the match, or if there is even one? Do we even need one if they proceed to have a banger?

Dijak defeated Shawn Spears

Dijak pinned Spears in a hard hitting opener. Really good match to kick off the show.

According to commentary that accompanies the match, this match “could have North American Championship implications.” Turns out, that is about half right.

Spears on a roll when he does a plancha. Not to be outdone moments later, Dijak does a flip dive over the ropes. Slapping leather, and clubbing strikes. Dijak climbs to the top rope, and Spears jumps to the top and suplexes Dijak.

Joe Gacy is seen crawling out from underneath the ring. Gacy grabs the metal folding chair Spears brought with him to the ring, and Gacy drags the chair under the ring.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. High spot as the come break from break, Dijak leaps off the top rope with a flying clothesline.

They go on to trade strikes. Dijak punishes Spears with hard overhand chops. Dijak in a focused rage, but Spears has counters. They trade near falls. “Fight forever” chants from the live studio audience. Also, some “NXT” chants from the crowd.

Dijak springboards into a flying elbow drop, but no water in the pool. Spears goes to grab the chair he brought with him earlier, but it is no where to be found. Gacy had stolen it.

Spears gets caught on an attempted flying ax handle, and Spears takes a sit-down choke bomb from Dijak. Spears gets a shoulder up at two and three quarters.

For the finish, Dijak delivers a kick set up Feast Your Eyes. After Dijak executes his finisher, he covers Spears for a three count.

Roxanne Perez is the focus of a vignette where she looks back at her babyface persona, and she is now detests that version of herself. Even if she is likely miscast as a heel, Perez plays the character well. She challenges for the NXT Women’s title at NXT Stand & Deliver.

Thea Hail (with Riley Osborne, Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) defeated Jazmyn Nyz (with Jacy Jayne)

Hail submitted Nyz, despite blatant interference by Jacy Jayne. A brawl afterwards appears to set up a women’s trios match.

Nyz got a lot of offense. Jayne was a distraction at ringside at ringside. She stole the Chase U towel from Chase, and Jayne threw it into the ring, as if someone from Hail’s corner was throwing in the towel. Osborne rushed into the ring and caught the towel, as the towel has to land on the mat to count. The referee then ejects Chase U from ringside for interfering in the match.

Jayne then gets on the apron, and Hail screams at her about them once being friends. Jayne slaps Hail, and somehow the ref did not see it. Nyz goes for a roll-up, but Hail counters the schoolgirl. Hail locks in an kimura, and Nyz taps out.

Jayne jumps Hail after the match. Jayne is stomping on Hail as Kaina James and Izzi Dame also rush into the ring  Dame and James hold Hail for Jayne to deliver strikes. Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan run down to even the odds. Hail soon joins the other two babyfaces in cleaning house on the heels. The post-match brawl and angle would appear to set up a six-woman tag team match.

Up next is a great video package hyping the upcoming grudge match between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. The hype video even had clips of main roster stars commenting on the bout, including Randy Orton and CM Punk.

A commercial advertised the NXT: Next Gen reality show.

Natalya defeated Lola Vice

Nattie makes a surprise appearance on NXT, and Nattie goes on to pin Vice in a very competitive match.

The story going in was Vice issued an open challenge with a tweet. The open challenge is probably one of the most overdone plot devices in wrestling these days. Regardless, Vice cut a strong promo in the ring before the match began. Nattie answers the open challenge in a surprise appearance, and Nattie cuts a promo of her own on Vice. The brawl as the match gets underway.

Vice is in control as the match goes through a commercial break. Natalya comes back after the show returns from the break. They both go for submission holds.

Out comes Karmen Pertrovic, who has issues with Vice. Nattie soon makes a comeback, and she looks to apply a sharpshooter. Vice counters into a roll-up, but Nattie responds by going for an armbar. Nattie goes on to duck a strike, and Nattie uses an O’Connor Roll to score a pinfall.

An upset Shawn Spears is leaving the building. From above, Joe Gacy appears on a roof with the chair he stole from Spears. Gacy throws the chair down, and laughs manically. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi comes into frame and he stomps on the chair. Gacy laughs manically some more. Much like any segment with Gacy these days, I have far more questions than answers.

Sol Ruca is the focus of a video package, which hypes a match between Ruca and Blair Davenport. This plays off an injury angle based on a real injury to Ruca.

Davenport is interviewed with Kelly Kincaid, and Davenport cuts a promo on Ruca.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo in a non-title match

Dragunov pinned Stacks after Torpedo Moscow. Dragunov sold his hand during the match, as Stacks stomped on Dragunov’s fingers. Undaunted, Dragunov makes a comeback to win the match.

Lorenzo’s cohorts in The Family purposely stayed away from ringside, but Stacks was still there to soften up Dragunov ahead of Tony D’Angelo challenging for the title at Stand & Deliver. So, Stacks targeted the hand.

“The Don” and Lucio Crusifino watched the match from a monitor backstage. After the bout is over, Tony D tells Crusifino to invite Dragunov to a special dinner.

In a great video package continued from earlier in the show, Trick Williams returns to Philadelphia to see his uncle James, who Trick calls “Sweet Baby James”. Williams cuts a promo with his uncle, and Williams talks about Philly being a special place for him. This hyped up Williams-Hayes at Stand & Deliver, and it included more clips of CM Punk breaking down the match. Great stuff here.

The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) confront NXT Tag Team Champions Wolf Dogs (Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker) in a locker room skit.

Ridge Holland is in the ring for a monologue, where he announces he is stepping away from in-ring competition. The ring is darkly lit, as Holland stands solemnly, yet well dressed in a suit jacket. Holland begins by thanking Marty Jones, William Regal, Shawn Michaels, the other producers, and the talent.

Holland says as been hesitant lately, and a step off. He cannot in good conscience risk hurting his self or someone else. Holland acknowledges he is aware of the perception about him.

Whether the whispers and comments about him after true or not, they had an affect on the man behind Ridge Holland. He is tired of taking his work home, and he wants to get a good father and husband for his family. Therefore, Holland announces he is indefinitely stepping away from in-ring competition.

Another great hype video focuses on NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria defending her title against Roxanne Perez at Stand & Deliver.

Josh Briggs defeated Duke Hudson

Briggs pinned Hudson after a clothesline from hell. This was basically a showcase for Briggs, and it set up an angle afterwards. That will lead to a triple threat title match at Stand & Deliver.

Dijak is at the announce desk for guest commentary, and he buries both guys. That match itself goes through a commercial break.

Hudson takes a superplex from Brigg. That targetes Hudson’s back, which he sold throughout the match. Briggs also rammed Hudson into the ring steps before the commercial break, further targeting the back.

Briggs climbs the turnbuckles, but he is cut off and powerbombed by Hudson. Nevertheless, Briggs cuts off Hudson, Briggs then delivers a Stan Hansen lariat. Briggs covers Hudson for a pinfall.

After the match is over, Dijak leaves the announce booth. He climbs on the apron and has a stare down with Briggs. Suddenly, Oba Femi’s theme music blares over the house speakers. The North American Champion is then seen overlooking he ring from a perch.

Femi cuts a poor promo, where Femi basically announces a triple threat match at Stand & Deliver. Femi defends the North American title against Dijak and Briggs.

More for the hype video building up Williams-Hayes at Stand & Deliver. A written recap would not do these hype videos justice. The hype videos should be seen. Good stuff.

Next Tuesday on the go-home episode, Williams and Hayes have a final face-off ahead of their grudge match at Stand & Deliver.

Meta-Four have commandeered a produce truck they are the NWO. Noam Dar and company then announce they are the official hosts for Stand & Deliver.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is delivered an invitation to attend the meeting with Tony D’Angelo. This was a campy skit.

NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defeated Akira Tozawa & Otis in a non title match

Breakker pinned Tozawa to win the match. They shattered an announce desk, among other high spots, to give this bout the pop it needed to make it worthwhile. They succeeded in that.

Breakker was explosive at times, but at first this match seemed like somewhat of a letdown compared to other bouts on the show. Was I ever wrong about that. The match came around in the end, and it ended on a hot note.

The tag title match went through a split-screen commercial break. It builds to a hot tag that brings in Otis. Alpha Academy rallies, but Breakker counters them in a feat of strength.

Breakker is in a electric chair when Tozawa leaps off the top rope with a crossbody. Breakker catches Tozawa, and turns it into an avalanche powerslam. Highlight reel high spot right there.

Corbin & Breakker go on to double team Otis, and they powerbomb Otis through the announce desk. The desk crumbles, and the studio audience pops huge. “Holy s****” chants are bleeped out on the USA Network.

Back in the ring, Tozawa is alone against Wolf Dogs. Corbin blocks a hurricanrana, and Corbin powerbombs Tozawa. Breakker follows up with a spear on Tozawa, and Breakker covers him for a the deciding pinfall.

LWO appears after the match, as does Gallows & Anderson. There is a brief stare down, as LWO and the Good Brothers close in on the a ring. A brawl erupts as Nathan Frazier & Axiom also rush into the ring. The show ends with a big melee in the ring.

WWE NXT live results: Tony D’Angelo addresses Ilja Dragunov

The road to Stand & Deliver continues on tonight’s edition of WWE NXT.

The WrestleMania weekend NXT special is now less than three weeks away. In advance of their NXT Championship match in Philadelphia, Tony D’Angelo is set to address Ilja Dragunov tonight.

A grudge match between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes has now been made official for Stand & Deliver. Tonight, Williams will be in action against Noam Dar. It’s Williams’ first match since Hayes betrayed him at Vengeance Day.

Last week, the LWO’s Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro earned their place in an upcoming triple threat number one contender’s tag match. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger and Axiom & Nathan Frazer vs. No Quarter Catch Crew on tonight’s show will determine the other two teams.

Also announced for tonight: Riley Osborne challenges for the Heritage Cup, Tatum Paxley takes on Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca is back in action against Brinley Reece, and we’ll hear from NXT North American Champion Oba Femi.

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

– After the WWE signature open, we went straight to Roxanne Perez entering the WWE Performance Center and our opening match, as Vic Joseph welcomed us to the show.

Roxanne Perez defeated Tatum Paxley

As Paxley tried to run into the ring, Perez attacked her outside the ring and threw her inside to start the match. Paxley fought out of Perez’s initial attack and began to take the fight to her.

In the ring, Perez caught Paxley with a modifed arm drag, then continuing to work over the arm of Paxley. Perez snapped Paxley’s arm back to get a near fall. Paxley responded with some strikes of her own while favoring her hurt arm. Enzuigiri by Paxley staggered Perez, as she followed it up with a modified powerslam.

Perez whipped Paxley into the corner, arm-first. She then got Pop Rox on Paxley, then ending this match with a Crossface as Paxley had no choice but to tap.

After the match, Perez got the mic and called out NXT General Manager Ava to give her the NXT Women’s Title opportunity she deserved. Instead, the NXT Womens’ Champion Lyra Valkyria ran out and tried to throw hands with Perez.

A momentary unintentional distraction by Paxley allowed Perez to seize the opportunity and lock in the Crossface on Valkyria. Perez then posed with the NXT Women’s Title over the fallen Valkyria.

Good short match that helped further establish Roxanne Perez’s new heel character and her driven obsession for the NXT Women’s Title. Tatum Paxley’s well-meaning assistance backfiring certainly adds to the story of whether or not Lyra Valkyria trusts well enough.

**********

– Backstage, Meta-Four were discussing Noam Dar’s upcoming match with Trick Williams. The group was then interrupted by Alpha Academy’s Akira Tozawa, Otis, and Maxxine. Otis made a remark about Lash Legend, stating that he was “jelly of Trick Willy”, which made Meta Four leave the scene.

– As a doctor was tending to Lyra Valkyria’s hurt arm, NXT GM Ava visited her. Valkyria cut to the chase and asked Ava to make the match for NXT Stand & Deliver: Lyra Valkyria versus Roxanne Perez. Ava agreed as Valkyria walked off.

Josh Briggs calls out Oba Femi

Briggs showed up at the commentary desk and challenged Oba Femi for taking out his best friend Brooks Jensen, and doing so with a smile.

Femi immediately showed up, mic in hand. He said that he relished the idea of testing a man’s limits, because in the ring, the only thing that matters is results. Briggs interrupted Femi and questioned his claims of being the “baddest dude in NXT”, demanding that Femi put his North American Championship on the line.

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” said Femi.

Dijak made his way to the ring, reminding Femi that once he was “done playing around”, he was waiting for him. Briggs cut Dijak off, calling him “wannabe Shaft”, much to Dijak’s dismay.

Femi said that this wasn’t about either Briggs or Dijak, it was about him, and everyone else. Briggs shoved Dijak into Femi as a brawl broke out. Femi clotheslined Briggs out of the ring as Dijak countered an attemped back drop by Femi.

**********

– Shawn Spears was backstage watching a screen. He said that “pride always comes before a fall”, walking off afterwards. Unbeknownst to him, Joe Gacy peered from the background, laughing.

– We got a recap of Trick Williams challenging Carmelo Hayes to a match at NXT Stand & Deliver. They showed Carmelo Hayes arriving to the Performance Center, accompanied by his security detail.

Tag Team Qualifying Match: Axiom & Nathan Frazer defeated Myles Borne & Charlie Dempsey

Myles Borne & Charlie Dempsey were the chosen representatives for the NQCC.

Dempsey and Axiom started off the match, as Dempsey had control, right up until Frazer was tagged in. Frazer hit a nice kick on Dempsey and took it to him with a sustained offense. Borne tagged in and Frazer continued to control the pace of the match with repeated arm drags.

Tag to Axiom as Frazer sends Borne to the outside. Axiom and Frazer hit alternating dives on Borne and Dempsey outside the ring. With the action back in the ring, Dempsey took back momentum with a counter of an Axiom pin attempt into a fantastic German suplex. Axiom sent to the outside right in front of Dempsey’s NQCC teammates as the action continued into the picture-in-picture commercial break.

As NXT returned live, Axiom and Dempsey were fighting it out. Bridging fallaway slam by Dempsey got a two-count. Axiom fought out of Dempsey’s submission as the two began a hard chop exchange.

Hot tag to Frazer, who took Borne and Dempsey down with a double dropkick. Running shooting star by Frazer on Borne almost got the win for him and Axiom.

Phoenix Splash avoided by Borne. Attempted springboard dive by Frazer countered into a catching powerslam that was only a near-fall. Alternating tags by Axiom and Frazer as Axiom hit an avalanche Spanish Fly, followed by Frazer landing the Phoenix Splash on Borne. Axiom with the Golden Ratio to intercept Dempsey as Frazer pinned Borne to bring his team one step closer to an NXT Tag Title shot.

Fantastic, fast-paced match to help get the Performance Center crowd hyped, with well-earned “this is awesome” chants. The team of Frazer and Axiom compliment their styles well and their offense is just so enjoyable to watch. Dempsey’s technical style continues to get better with every match and it was a nice to get a glimpse of it here.

**********

– After a recap of Mr. Stone versus Lexis King last week on NXT, we got video from NXT Anonymous showing Stone arguing with Von Wagner, upset about being carried by him following King’s beatdown.

– NXT Tag Champions Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker were interviewed about the continuing NXT Tag Team Contenders tournament. Breakker joked that Corbin was mad about paying for dinner last night. Alpha Academy showed up and said that they wanted to earn their place at Stand & Deliver. They challenged Corbin & Breakker to a match next week, where if they win, they’d be added to the NXT Tag Title match at Stand & Deliver. Breakker accepted on his team’s behalf.

Sol Ruca defeated Brinley Reece (with Edris Enofe & Malik Blade)

Ruca started off with some impressive acrobatics, which prompted Reece to answer with a cartwheel of her own. Reece with a headlock that Ruca fought out of. Acrobatic flip by Ruca led into an X-Factor for the two.

Reece with the clotheslines on Ruca and a scoopslam. Ruca slammed Reece an middle-rope avalanche flip as she began to take over.  Sol Snatcher by Ruca brought this match to an end.

Post-match, Blair Davenport attacked Ruca from behind, laying her out with a Kamigoye knee.

A good match to establish Ruca back into the fold, and the post-match attack by Davenport should lead to a Stand & Deliver match.

**********

– Backstage, Gigi Dolin & Wren Sinclair discussed Gigi’s match with Ariana Grace last week. Grace showed up and brought out a sash that said “Miss NXT in Training”, and forced her to wear it, much to Dolin’s dismay.

– An Instagram video from Ridge Holland was shown, discussing his future.

Tony D’Angelo addresses Ilja Dragunov

Tony D’Angelo came out to the ring, flanked by his Family.

He started by saying that he will get his big opportunity at Stand & Deliver, boasting that the D’Angelo Family is in a period of aggressive growth and expansion. He introduced Luca Crusifino and boasted his legal successes, calling him his new “consigliere.”

Crusafino got the mic to say he pledged his loyalty to the D’Angelo Family.

D’Angelo once again talked about how he’s the one man who will break the unbreakable, before Ilja Dragunov interrupted on the titantron.

Dragunov talked about how D’Angelo left him alone on a bridge last week with his thoughts, declaring that the NXT Title is the one power that will be beyond his reach.

D’Angelo cut off Dragunov, saying that he doesn’t understand the gravity of the situation, mentioning that he got Ava to book a match next week with Stacks Lorenzo versus Dragunov. D’Angelo announced that Dragunov may not make it to Stand & Deliver in one piece, stating that he’ll see him next week.

**********

– Riley Osborne was shown training for his Heritage Cup match up next, as Thea Hail showed up and apologized for her behavior on their date last month. Osborne accepted Hail’s apology and headed out, with Hail and Chase U following him.

– They showed TikTok videos from Lola Vice & Karmen Petrovic showing off their karate skills.

Heritage Cup Match: Drew Gulak defeated Riley Osborne to retain

Drew Gulak will represent NQCC in this matchup.

The first round began with Gulak and Osborne locking it up in the ring. Osborne escaped out of Gulak’s hold and hit a running crossbody on him. Lots of back and forth action as the round hit the final minute.

In the dying minute of round one, Osborn hti a Shooting Star Press to pick up the first fall.

As the second round started, Gulak left the ring, only to be confronted by Chase U. This gave Osborne the opening to hit a dive to the outside on Gulak. Back in the ring, Osborne continued the attack on Gulak. Dueling rollups by Gulak and Osborne get near falls, but in the end, Gulak tied it up with a pin with about 1:36 left in round two. Cheap shot by Gulak after the fall causes a bit of a scuffle as we headed to a picture-in-picture commercial break.

NXT returned with round three almost done as Gulak and Osborne were at a standstill. Osborne’s top rope move was caught into a submission by Gulak, who turned that submission into a Gu-Lock. Osborne held on just long enough for the round to expire.

A replay of Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx showing up during the picture in picture break to cause trouble was shown.

Round four began with Osborne hitting a nice rolling hurricanrana for the near fall. More dueling pinfall attempts from each men also net near falls. Osborne and Gulak are in a deadlock as the time winded down on round four.

Osborne got Gulak up on the top rope as Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail got into it, with the action spilling into the ring. Osborne’s attempted superplex was stopped by Jazmyn Nyx, who tripped up Osborne while the referee was distracted to give Gulak the victory.

I enjoyed this match. Osborne showed some nice potential, and Gulak is always a pleasure to watch, even if the No Quarter Catch Crew gimmick isn’t exactly one to write home about.

**********

– Brooks Jensen was shown walking outside the infamous NXT parking lot, as Fallon Henley talked to him. Jensen was mad about people taking pity on him before leaving. Kelani Jordan then appeared, angry about Izzi Dame and Kiana James supposedly attacking her. Henley offered to assist Jordan against Dam and James.

– Backstage, Ava was on the phone before Duke Hudson & Thea Hail confronted her. Ava told Hail that as a result of Jazmyn Nyx’s actions in the earlier match, she will face Nyx next week on NXT. Ava then talked to Hudson, stating that he’ll also be in action next week, and that a win next week will mean good things for Hudson in the North American Title picture.

Tag Team Qualifying Match: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defeated Tank Ledger & Hank Walker

The match was joined in progress with both teams brawling in the ring. Once things settled, Walker & Anderson were the legal men as the match continued.

Suplex by Walker got a one-count. Anderson retreated to his corner and tagged Gallows in. Now it’s Gallows in control momentarily, as he punched Walker on the top rope, sending him crashing outside. Gallows threw Walker around the barricade and apron before sending him back to the ring.

Gallows worked over Walker in his corner, then flooring him with a nasty clothesline. Tag to Anderson as Walker began to fight back a bit until Anderson regained control.

The Good Brothers still had Walker isolated from Tank Ledger, with back and forth tags and offense. Walker finally created an opening with a kick to Gallows, and then the headbutt to Anderson. Hot tag to Tank Ledger as the big man finally got into the match.

Nice double team catch and toss by Walker and Ledger almost got the win, but the pin was interrupted. Running powerslam interrupted as Gallows pulled Walker outside, leaving Ledger alone for the Magic Killer by Gallows & Anderson. And they advance to the Triple Threat Qualifier.

A hard hitting match, but not something I could fully get behind with. Might just be because these two teams don’t really have that much of a chemistry with each other. There’s at least room for improvement on Walker and Ledger’s end.

**********

– Kelly Kincaid was backstage with Trick Williams. She asked him about his thoughts on the upcoming match with Noam Dar. Trick said that he was ready for Noam Dar’s challenge and that if Carmelo Hayes showed his face, he’d whoop his ass again.

– Izzi Dame & Kiana James were talking with Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx briefly, before Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan attacked Dame & James. NXT referees separated the two.

– Scheduled for next week’s NXT: Thea Hail vs. Jazmyn Nyx, Ilja Dragunov vs. Channing “Stacks Lorenzo”, Alpha Academy vs. Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin, Duke Hudson vs. Josh Briggs, and Shawn Spears vs. Dijak.

Trick Williams defeated Noam Dar

Booker T went crazy for Trick’s entrance and the fans chanting “Whoop that Trick!”

Scoop slams by Williams’ on Dar started the match off. Dar caught Williams’ foot for an ankle lock attempt, but he fought out of it. Armbar by Dar is turned into a pin attempt by Williams, who kicked out.

Backfist from Dar is followed by a guillotine submission on Williams, but the strength of Trick was too much. Fierce uppercut by Williams flattened Dar soon after. On the corner, Dar took Williams off his feet with a kick. Now it’s Dar on the offense with a hard dropkick for the two-count.

A picture-in-picture cut in showed Carmelo Hayes’ door, with the private security detail knocking on the door.

Back in the ring, as Williams won the tug-of-war between he and Dar, following that up with a pop-up uppercut to send Dar scurrying to the outside. Final picture-in-picture commercial break of the night upcoming.

Returning to live action, Williams threw Dar down with a powerbomb, but that only got a two-count. Dar and Williams began to trade blows, with Dar winning out in the end. Leaping forearm clothesline by Williams stopped Dar’s momentum.

Dar countered a spinebuster into a DDT, but that only netted a near-fall. Ankle lock by Dar, but Williams reaches the rope to break the hold.

Williams got a Book End out of nowhere on Dar to begin his own flurry of offense. Lash Legend got on the apron, which distracted Williams long enough to get felled by a German suplex and back elbow combo from Dar for the very close near-fall.

Dar in the corner, but his attempt at a finish is stopped by Williams’ Trick Shot knee for the one, two, three.

Post-match, Williams got on the mic and immediately challenged Carmelo Hayes to fight him right now. Hayes’ personal security detail showed up and surrounded the ring, with Hayes himself soon following. But “Carmelo Hayes” on the ramp is a decoy, as the real Hayes unmasked as one of the security detail. He attacked Williams and had the remaining security hold him up, before finishing Williams with his running knee. NXT concluded with Hayes talking trash to a downed Williams as the crowd booed his dastardly attack.

**********

Overall, an entertaining NXT that continues to finalize the Stand & Deliver card nicely. The main event Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes feud is an intense one, and I enjoyed the closing angle with Hayes getting the upper hand on Trick with some trickery of his own. Their match at Stand & Deliver is one deserving of a stipulation, and hopefully we get one announced soon.

Heel Roxanne Perez is a success so far and she is killing it as an entitled heel willing to go any lengths to get the title she never lost back. Her eventual match with Lyra Valkyria at Stand & Deliver should be great.

I’m interested in seeing Tony D’Angelo potentially transition into a more ruthless mob boss character, and bringing that aspect out against Ilja Dragunov will only help heat this title feud up even more.

The mini-tournament to decide the NXT Tag Team Championship challengers has been fun and the triple threat between LWO, Axiom & Nathan Frazer, and the Good Brothers should be quite entertaining.

Lots to enjoy from tonight’s edition of NXT for sure.

WWE NXT Roadblock live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Tony D’Angelo

On the road to WrestleMania weekend, a special edition of WWE NXT takes place tonight.

Carmelo Hayes and Tony D’Angelo are set to face off in a number one contender’s match on tonight’s NXT Roadblock. The winner earns an NXT Championship shot against Ilja Dragunov at Stand & Deliver next month.

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) are in NXT for a WWE Women’s Tag Team title defense against Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley. The winning team will defend their titles against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark on Raw next Monday.

That isn’t the only Tag Team title match scheduled for tonight. NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin will put their belts on the line against Chase U.

One week after making his return, Shawn Spears will be in action. An Asylum match between Dijak and Joe Gacy has also been announced.

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

This supercard edition of NXT opens with an introductory video package, hosted by Lexis King. He is driving a sports car, and he uses a lot of automobile metaphors relating to the show being called “Roadblock”. King, along with video highlights, run down the top matches on the card.

Kicking off the show is an “Asylum” cage match from a soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando. It is basically a weapons-filled cage match, and “asylum” is an apparent reference to whatever Joe Gacy’s character is supposed to be.

Dijak defeated Joe Gacy in an Asylum (cage) match

I still do not understand the Gacy character, but this was still a heckuva match. Lots of weapons and such, so this might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Yet, it is not ultra-violent or bloody like some hardcore matches.

Inside the cage are gimmicks that include a chair, table, door, fire extinguisher, kendo stick, straitjacket, and a mystery box of some sort with “DO NOT OPEN” stenciled on the side. The box was a Looney Tunes gag. Dijak opens the lid, and a boxing glove on a spring hits Dijak in the gut. That gag led into a near fall for Gacy, but Dijak kicks out just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Just before the show returns from the break, Gacy craters a trash can with a Nestea Plunge. When the show does return from break, Dijak is climbing the cage. Dijak then does a moonsault off the top of the cage. Big pop, a near fall, and a “holy s***” chants follow.

Dijak puts the straitjacket on Gacy, but Gacy still fights back even with his arms restrained behind his back. The tease a superplex, but it was instead Dijak’s turn to take a Nestea Plunge in a bit of an irony. The heel falls backwards through a table he set up. Gacy follows up with a senton bomb for another near fall.

Gacy escapes the straitjacket, only to be leveled with a lariat. Dijak takes duct tape, and he tapes over Gacy’s head so that he is blind. Dijak uses a kendo stick to assault a seemingly helpless Gacy, but Gacy fights back. Gacy takes the kendo away from Dijak and hit him with it. Dijak tosses Gacy through a door propped up in a corner. I was seen doors used like this on the indies, but not sure I have ever seen it in a WWE ring.

Gacy kicks out of a near fall, and Dijak responds by executing Feast Your Eyes. Dijak then covers Gacy for the deciding pinfall.

In a locker room skit with The Family, Tony D’Angelo asks Luca Crusifino to be his consigliere. Crusifino agrees.

A different skit sets up a match a match for later on between Fallon Henley and Blair Davenport.

NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defeated Chase U (Duke Hudson & Andre Chase with Thea Hail, Jacy Jayne, Jazmyn Nyz & Riley Osborne) to retain their titles

Breakker pinned Chase, in what was another good match on this show. An angry Thea Hail stormed off after the match for some reason. Later in the show, Hail has a pull-apart screaming match with Kiana James and Izzi Dame.

The champs start out strong, but Chase U has a rally before the match goes through a commercial break. The tide turns during the break. Breakker does a Super Frankensteiner, and Chase takes a big bump for it.

The “Wolf Dogs” work over Chase, but Chase still kicks out for a near fall. Hot tag to Hudson, and he runs wild. The champs bump and feed, until they make a bling tag. Hudson counters before he can be blindsided. Chase & Hudson do a Gory Special/Flatliner combo for a two count on Corbin.

Breakker jumps off the apron with a flying clothesline that sends Hudson tumbling over the announce desk. Meanwhile, Corbin is seemingly in control of Chase in the ring. Not for long, as Chase counters Corbin. High cross by Chase for a two count on Corbin.

For the finish, Corbin gives Chase a Deep Six, and Breakker follows with a spear. Breakker then covers Chase for a three count. Wolf Dogs retain.

In a backstage interview, Carmelo Hayes puts over his personal security force. Hayes vows to beat D’Angelo tonight, and then go on to win the NXT title.

Shawn Spears defeated Uriah Connors

Spears pinned Connor after a C4. This was a short enhancement match to showcase the returning Spears. The “10” gimmick is long gone, but Spears does bring his chair gimmick from AEW. However, he still does not play it like a guitar like La Parka in WCW. That to me is a real shame.

Rather, Spears’ character is more serious. He cuts a promo after the match, and he name drops Ridge Holland. That looks to be Spears’ first program in NXT since his return. Spears almost flubbed some lines, but he recovers. He is supposed to be brooding I guess, since they used a split lighting technique on his face.

Holland comes out to confront Spears, and they brawl. Holland pummels Spears, and Spears slides his metal folding chair over to Holland. Spears then dares Holland to hit him with the chair. This plays on Spears’ promo, where he likened himself to a mirror that exposing people for what the really are inside.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka) defeated Tatum Paxley & NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria to retain their titles

Sane pinned Paxley to win the match. Another solid bout on the show. Roxanne Perez runs in after the match to attack Valkyria.

With tandem moves, Asuka & Sane showcase why they are such a good team. The challengers rally just before the match goes through a split-screen commercial break.

They did some good near falls. Valkyria has to calm down Paxley at one point for being too aggressive. Later on, Valkyria inadvertently roundhouse kicks Paxley. Valkyria then walks into a back fist from Sane, and Valkyria takes a bump out of the ring. That leaves Paxley alone against the Kabuki Warriors. They do their slop drop/elbow drop combo finish, and Sane covers Paxley for a pinfall. The champs retain.

Roxanne Perez storms into the ring after the match, and she jumps Valkyria. Perez targets Valkyria arm. Valkyria sells big, and she is posted shoulder first. Perez then stomps on the arm while Valkyria is draped in the ropes. That leads to an injury angle, as a stretcher is brought out for Valkyria. She leaves the building in an ambulance.

Fallon Henley defeated Blair Davenport

Henley wins via pinfall, after interference by a returning Sol Ruca. That is an odd way to get Henley over as a babyface, but whatever. Henley does have new theme music that reminds of all the bad bro country songs on country music radio. Although, I admittedly might not be hip to what is a cool country song these days.

Davenport works an arm during the match, which might have been more effective in getting heat if we had not just seen an injury angle based on the same premise. Nonetheless, Henley makes a comeback. They take turns crashing into the ring steps as the fighting spills onto the floor.

Sol Ruca make a surprise return as she is perched on the barricade. Ruca does a cartwheel into a DDT on Davenport. Ruca then rolls Davenport into the ring, and Henley hits Davenport with a shining wizard. Henley then covers Davenport for a three count.

Thea Hail has a tag match booked next week against Kiana James & Izzi Dame, based on a skit from earlier in the show. Hail wants Jacy Jayne to be her partner, but Jayne says she is busy next week.

A goofy skit with NXT General Manager Ava, Gigi Dolan and Arianna Grace sets up a future match between Grace and Dolan. Grace will only agree to a bout if a stipulation is added to their grudge match. If Dolan loses, Grace gets to give her a makeover. Dolan accepts the stip.

Shawn Spears has a cryptic threat for Ridge Holland in a backstage interview. The match is later made official for next Tuesday on NXT.

No Quarter Catch Crew is in the ring to celebrate Charlie Dempsey having won the Heritage Cup. Dempsey is joined by Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp and Myles Borne. They reveal that although Dempsey won the Cup, the “Catch clause” stipulates that any member of No Quarter Catch Crew can defend the Cup in a match. This is basically a take off of Freebird rules.

Drew Gulak also announces they are entered in the upcoming tag team elimination tournament.

Suddenly, William Regal interrupts the Crew. Big pop for Regal for the live studio audience. They also welcome him back with chants. The crowd then starts a “that’s your father” chant directed at Dempsey, since Regal is his shoot father. Regal no sells that chant.

Regal talks about how personally he takes the Cup. Dempsey tells Regal he will defend the Cup “better than you ever could.” Regal smirks, and says he will be watching them.

The former Cup holder, Noam Dar, is in the Meta-Four lounge. He apparently has not spoken since losing the Cup. Lash Legend tries to comfort him. Dar suddenly snaps out of it, and he says the past is behind them. Dar talks about looking to the future. This was a silly skit, but it at least gave Meta-Four a new direction.

Mr. Stone is watching video of a promo Lexis King cut on social media. Von Wagner vows to smash King, but Stone tells Wager that Stone’s beef with King is personal. Stone asks Wagner to fight King alone, without Wagner in his corner.

Tony D’Angelo defeated Carmelo Hayes in a number one contender’s match

D’Angelo pinned Hayes, after a Hayes was distracted by Trick Williams theme song. Williams himself would return in angle that followed the match. The bout itself was somewhat lackluster for a main event, but it set the stage for Williams’ return. The show would end with the crowd going wild for Williams.

In the match, Hayes works over “The Don” as the match goes through a commercial break. Hayes works an arm, which is the third time we see that kind of strategy on this show. Could be a tribute of sorts to Ole Anderson, but it was nevertheless overdone on this card.

They trade near falls. Hayes makes a cocky cover after hitting his “First 48” finishing move. D’Angelo kicks out, much to the chagrin of Hayes. Climbing the turnbuckles, Hayes appears to set up for his guillotine finisher.

With Hayes perched on the top rope, cue Trick Williams’ entrance theme. Big pop from the live studio audience as Williams’ theme plays. The crowd chants “whoop that trick,” while Hayes’ personal security force awaits Williams’ arrival. However, it was swerve meant to fool Hayes.

A distracted Hayes is given a pop-up spinebuster by D’Angelo. The Don then executes his twisting neckbreaker for the finsih. D’Angelo hooks a leg and covers D’Angelo for the deciding pinfall.

The Don cuts a promo after the match, basically saying he has a “gift” for Hayes after deceiving him in the match. That gift was the actual return of Trick Williams.

Hayes’ security force is waiting for Williams to come down the ramp. Instead. Williams comes out of the crowd on the opposite side of the ring, and Williams slides into the ring. Williams jumps Hayes. The security teams tries to intervene, to no avail. Williams is a house of fire. He cleans house and clears the ring, all while the studio audience is going wild. Hot ending for the show.

WWE NXT live results: Ilja Dragunov & Carmelo Hayes face-to-face

After presenting a taped episode last week, WWE NXT is back live tonight.

A face-to-face segment with Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes headlines tonight’s episode. Following his betrayal of Trick Williams at Vengeance Day, Hayes has set his sights on the NXT Championship.

Dragunov has agreed to defend his title against Hayes at NXT Roadblock next Tuesday. That match should be made official during tonight’s face-to-face.

The Heritage Cup will be on the line tonight as Noam Dar defends against a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew. It will be Dar vs. either Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp, or Myles Borne.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, who put NXT on notice last week, are set for action against Malik Blade & Edris Enofe.

Roxanne Perez vs. Jakara Jackson, Kelani Jordan vs. Kiana James, Von Wagner vs. Lexis King, Dijak vs. Luca Crusifino, and Gigi Dolin vs. Jaida Parker have also been announced. Plus, we’ll hear from Ridge Holland.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Starts with a cold open, meaning no introductory video aside from the quick “Together” that opens every WWE broadcast. Wide shot of the sound stage at the Performance Center.

Booker T returns to commentary to join fellow regular Vic Joseph.

In front of a studio audience, out comes NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov for tonight’s advertised confrontation. Dragunov calls out Carmelo Hayes, and Hayes saunters out. Hayes appears rather confident, especially with a line of personal security guards between “Him” and Dragunov.

Hayes calls Dragunov “spiteful,” and the champ says Hayes is “damn right about me!” Because of that, Hayes says he will not get in the ring with Dragunov until their title match is signed and official. Hayes says he will give Dragunov until the end of the night. Until then, or what? That was a hollow threat from Hayes.

Dragunov decks and elbows a few of the security guards, as the rest of security surrounds Hayes with a human shield. To be continued later in the show.

Gigi Dolan is backstage earlier today, and she wants to speak with General Manager Ava. They go to meet in Ava’s office, but Jaida Parker is already there. Much like Dolan, Parker wants to talk about her future. Dolan tells Parker to get in line. This skit sets up a match for later.

Kiana James (with Izzi Dame) defeated Kelani Jordan

James pinned Jordan after interference by Dame. The match goes through a commercial break. Jordan gets to shine before the show cuts to break. Jordan is cut off during the break, and James works her over. Jordan gets some hope spots, like a small package out of nowhere for a two count.

Jordan is trying to rally when she is flipped over the ropes, out to the apron. Jordan goes for a springboard, but Dame interferes by grabbing Jordan’s leg. Jordan takes a bump on the apron, and down to the floor. When Jordan is rolled back into the ring, James executes her “Deal Breaker” finish. A three count later, and the referee raises James hand in victory.

The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Gallows pinned Enofe, after a Magic Killer. The babyface duo did well early on, but they lose yet again. They have been a team for a while now, but have got nothing more than a mild push as a team. They seem to lose to those on their way up. Or they lose to teams on their way in, such as here with The Good Brothers in NXT.

Heat on Blade in the body of the match, leading to a hot tag. Enofe cleans house. Meanwhile, Gallows goozles Blade, and Blade is sent crashing into the ring steps. Enofe is cut off, and he takes a spinebuster from Anderson. Both Anderson and Gallows get into the ring for their tandem finisher. Gallows then covers Enofe for a pinfall.

In another backstage skit in Ava’s office, North American Champion Oba Femi and NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov meet face to face. They have a brief staredown. Dragunov is actually there to talk with Ava, presumably about booking the title match with Hayes.

Roxanne Perez defeated Jakara Jackson (with Lash Legend)

Perez submitted Jackson with a crossface. Legend interfered during the match, and the referee ejected her from ringside.

This match was set up with a skit from last week, where Roxanne was upset about missing the open challenge last Tuesday. Jackson approaches Perez to brag about Lash Legend. Perez was already upset, and that was all she needed to ignite. That sparks a pull-apart brawl, which set up this bout.

Perez has words with Legend at ringside, which costs Perez for a moment. Legend interferes, and the ref ejects Legend from ringside. Jackson stills gets some offense, until Perez fired up for a comeback. Perez then applies a crossface, and Jackson tapped out.

Thea Hail is left alone and sad, after Kiana James wants to talk to Jacy Jayne about the calendar sales. This was a community theater skit.

Wolf Dogs meet The Good Brothers in another backstage skit. This teases a tag team title with the new NXT Tag Team Champions, Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin, defending against Gallows & Anderson.

Dijak defeated Luca Crusifino

An encounter in a skit from last week set up this match. It also involved a crazed Joe Gacy in a straitjacket, but that did not factor into this bout. Gacy would run in after the match to attack Dijak.

Crusifino in his new role re-debuts in the ring on NXT, and he drops the fall clean as a sheet. Not really the best way to debut, but it continued a theme on this episode of up-and-comers getting beaten by established acts. There was at least some character development with Crusifino. He plants a crowbar in a hiding spot after the match, catching the eye of The Family.

Dijak cuts off a rally, leading to “Feast Your Eyes” and a pinfall. Gacy runs in after the match. He is still in the straitjacket, but he has broken out of it. One are is completely out, and Gacy flails his arm around.

Crusifino has a crowbar, and he hides it in the ring steps in front of the world. Tony D’Angelo, Stacks, and Rizzo are watching on a monitor backstage. “The Don” is impressed, teasing Crusifino may get an offer he cannot refuse.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria heads to the ring for a monologue. Valkyria wishes Shotzi a speedy recovery from injury, and Valkyria also puts over Legend for doing well.

Valkyria then mentions Tatum Paxley following direction last week. Valkyria asks Paxley to come out to thank her. Paxley joins Valkyria in the ring, and Paxley says it was hard not interfere. Paxley begins to mark out for Valkyria, and Valkyria has to settle her down.

As a reward, Valkyria announces that Paxley will team with Valkyria to challenge WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors. That is set for NXT Roadblock.

Ridge Holland interrupts them, and he congratulates the new challengers. Holland asks them to leave the ring, because Holland has something to say. Holland wants to defend his actions, saying he was defending himself.

The lights in the sound stage suddenly go dark. A message appears on the video screens. “Truth will prevail, but there is pain bringing it to light.” The sound stage then goes dark. A lone spotlight breaks through the darkness, revealing a hooded figure holding a folding chair.

The hooded figure hits Holland with a chair shot. The mysterious figure takes off his hood to reveal himself as Shawn Spears. He has returned to NXT, with a takeoff on his chair gimmick from AEW. Although Spears has a previous run in NXT under the “Tye Dillinger” moniker, the commentators referred to him by his shoot name.

Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone) defeated Lexis King

Wagner pinned King after interference by Stone. To get his heat back, King lays out Stone after the match.

King works a leg during the match. Comeback by Wagner, and the fighting spills outside. Mr. Stone is inadvertently knocked down, which worries Wagner. Back in the ring, King is looking for a finisher. Stone jumps on the apron to distract King, allowing Wagner to schoolboy roll up King.

Wagner scores a three count, but King attacks Wager after the match. Stone jumps in to make a save. Instead, King pummels Stone. King executes his “Coronation” finisher on Stone. Flopping like a fish out of water, Stone sells big.

Ava is arguing with Dijak about the brawl earlier with Joe Gacy. The brawling erupts again when Gacy attacks Dijak. A screaming Ava yells they cannot keep doing this. She later books an “Asylum Match” with Gacy against Dijak. That was confirmed for NXT Roadblock.

Jaida Parker pinned Gigi Dolan

“Miss NXT” Arianna Grace comes down to ringside during the match, which ends up costing Dolan the match. Her appearance was foreshadowed with a skit before this match. Grace gets on the apron, wanting to speak to Dolan. In the middle of a match, that is quite silly.

Dolan slaps Grace, and Grace takes a bump off the apron. A distracted Dolan is then blindsided by Parker. Dolan takes the fall, and Parkers pinned her.

An overhead shot of beach reveals a cryptic message. “See you soon.”

Charlie Dempsey (with No Quarter Catch Crew) defeated Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar (with Oro Mensah) to win the trophy

Dempsey pinned Dar for the deciding fall in the fifth round. Besides the Heritage Cup rules, the other gimmick for this bout was Dar being unaware which member of the Crew he would face in this title match.

All four members of the Crew entered the sound stage, and they all walk to the ring. Dempsey is revealed as the one from the Crew set to wrestle for the Cup.

In the first round, Dempsey scores a pinfall with a cradle. Much of round two happens during a split-screen commercial break. No falls in the second round. Some nifty grappling in the third round.

They are trading strikes as round three winds downs. Dar is dumped on his head with a German suplex, but he manages a counter. Dempsey eats a back elbow, and time expires on the third round.

Not long into the fourth round, Dar evens the score. Dar rushed to attack Dempsey. “Nova Roller” finishing move, and Dar pins Dempsey. The score is tied with one fall apiece.

Seconds into round five, and Myles Borne jumps on the apron trying to cause a distraction. Oro Mensah clashes with Borne at ringside, and Mensah is posted by Borne. A moment later, Drew Gulak and Damon Kemp jump on the apron. Dar thwarts them, but the distraction allow Dempsey time to recover. Dempsey then catches Car with a Dragon suplex. Dempsey bridges, and Dar’s shoulder are on the mat for a three count.

Shawn Spears is leaving the building when he is met with a TMZ-style interview. Spears reveals he will be at “Roadblock” next week.

Face-to-Face

Ava moderates a sit-down face-to-face segment where they are seated at a table. The face-to-face segment is interrupted by the arrival of Tony D’Angelo.

Tony D wants to be included in any conversation about “big business.” Hayes threatens “The Don” by saying he will sic the security on him. The Don tells Hayes that you do not have to be “Him,” nor a champion, to get things done around here.

Tony D snaps his fingers like The Fonz. With the snap of his fingers, the security guards all leave. Ava also vacates seat at the table, and The Don sits down.

Tony D’Angelo wants a title shot, instead of Hayes getting the match. D’Angelo talks about Hayes demanding a title match, but Tony D proclaims he wants to earn a title shot at Stand & Deliver.

D’Angelo announces a match next for Roadblock, with himself against Hayes. The winner gets a NXT title match at Stand & Deliver. Dragunov accepts the proposal, and he shakes hands with D’Angelo.

Hayes gets up from the table to threaten D’Angelo. Pushing and shoving, and Tony D inadvertently elbows Dragunov. Hayes then puts D’Angelo through a table. Hayes signs a contract, and he drops the contract on a prone D’Angelo. Next week is a number one contender’s match to decide who faces Dragunov at Stand & Deliver.

WWE NXT live results: Carmelo Hayes explains his betrayal

Two days after Vengeance Day, Carmelo Hayes is set to explain his betrayal of Trick Williams on NXT tonight.

Vengeance Day ended with Hayes turning against Williams and attacking him with a steel chair. Hayes took out Williams’ knee and then continued to target it with the steel chair attack. Tonight, we’ll find out why Hayes chose to betray his best friend.

Vengeance Day was a tough night for Williams even before the betrayal. Williams & Hayes lost to Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals. Williams also came up short in his title shot against NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov.

Breakker & Corbin will celebrate their Dusty Cup victory tonight.

Roxanne Perez vs. Lola Vice is also part of tonight’s lineup. Vice inserted herself into the NXT Women’s Championship match at Vengeance Day, which allowed Tatum Paxley to help Lyra Valkyria retain the title.

Lexis King vs. Riley Osborne, Axiom & Nathan Frazer vs. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, and Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson vs. Fallon Henley & Wren Sinclair have also been announced.

NXT is on the air live from a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando. Opening the show is Carmelo Hayes sauntering to the ring. Carrying a metal folding chair, Hayes gets in the ring. He opens the chair and sits down in the middle of the ring. The live studio audience relentlessly jeer and boo him.

Hayes is about to speak, but he is drowned out by booing from the crowd. He finally says, “Not yet.” Hayes then leaves the ring and walks away.

After a recap highlighting the results of Vengeance Day, Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker are at ringside standing alongside their newly won Dusty Cup. Corbin goes to introduce them, but Breakker wants ring announcer to give a proper intro for the “Wolfdogs.”

More odd couple comedy between them, with mixed results. They want a tag team title match, which they earned by winning the Dusty Cup. Breakker calls out NXT Tag Team Champions The Family. Instead, out comes Axiom and Nathan Frazier. Those two have a tag match that is up next.

Axiom & Nathan Frazier defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Frazier pinned Enofe to win the match. This tag bout was set up with a skit during Vengeance Day. Corbin & Breakker remained at ringside for guest commentary. Those two would jump Axiom & Frazier after the match.

The match itself goes through two separate commercial breaks. It was quite good. Too bad the winners looked like geeks in the aftermath. For the finish, Frazier executes a Phoenix Splash on Enofe. Axiom then follows up with a Golden Ratio, and Axiom covers Enofe for a three count.

Corbin & Breakker jump Axiom & Frazier after the match is over. Axiom & Frazier are tossed out of the ring, like they are yesterday’s news. So much for them getting over after such a good match. This reminded of Monday Nitro when the crusierweights would work there butts off having a good match, and the NWO would come in clean house, making the cruiserweights looks like geeks in the process.

Out comes The Family to have a stare down with Breakker & Corbin. “Wolfdogs” challenge the champs to a tag match next week. Tony D’Angelo accepts the challenge. Looks like a tag title match is set for next Tuesday.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is headed to the ring for a monologue. Of course, there is an interruption. Same old tired formula plays out. There is a twist at first, as Dragunov calls out Carmelo Hayes (for his attack on Trick Williams). Instead of Hayes, out comes Dijak to confront the champ.

Dijak claims Dragunov is obsessed with Trick & ‘Melo. Dijak gets in the front for a confrontation. The crowd boos the heck out of Dijak, as he begins to insult Dragunov. Tensions only rise from there.

Dragunov threatens Dijak that will suffer if he meets the champion. Dijak sucker punches Dragunov, with a shot to Dragunov’s broken nose (that was injured in his title defense against Williams). Officials and referees pour out to separate them. This angle sets up a non-title match for later tonight.

Jacy Jayne in a skit gives Thea Hail dating advice, which may turn out to be bad advice. Hail still has a big crush on Riley Osborne, and Hail has already agreed to a Valentine Day date with Osborne.

In another skit, Mr. Stone’s two children convince Stone and Von Wagner to team up on time for a tag bout.

Lexis King defeated Riley Osborne (with Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)

Osborne was doing well for himself when he got distracted looking into the audience for Thea Hail. She was not there, of course. Osborne could not find her, and him being distracted allowed King to trim him up. King then executed The Coronation, and King hooked a leg in covering Osborne for a pinfall.

Kelani Jordan is the focus of a vignette.

Carmelo Hayes is back, and he is heading to the ring again. Same as before, Hayes sits down in a chair. He is met by chants of “You’re not him!”

Hayes says he wanted to see Trick Williams succeed, but Hayes also took it away (with the attack last Sunday) to show Williams the “place” he belongs in. Hayes says that is what happens when Williams crossed Hayes. Hayes accuses Williams of crossing him by going after the NXT Championship.

They agreed, according to Hayes, that Williams would go after the North American title, and Hayes would go for the top singles title. Hayes goes on to say Williams believed his own hype. They are not on the same level, according to Hayes. Hayes has a bunch of flawed logic, but it plays into another unsolved mystery on NXT.

Hayes admits he was the one that attacked Williams (in the sneak attack from months ago). Suddenly, Trick’s theme song blares over the speakers. Hayes at first acts startled, until Williams does not come out. That was a swerve, as Hayes says Williams is not coming out. Hayes says Williams is in the hospital.

Hayes claims Williams wanted to be ‘Melo so bad. Hayes insists Williams was only his hype man, and that is all Williams will ever be.

A cryptic message teases the arrival of a new character. Something about three faces, but it hopefully has nothing to be with the Three Faces of Fear of WCW fame.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi is the focus of a vignette.

A backstage skit saw Riley Osborne tell Thea Hail that he will text her. She is still playing hard to get, despite being head over heels.

Roxanne Perez defeated Lola Vice

This match was set up at Vengeance Day, when the two had a pull-apart brawl. Their match tonight goes through a commercial break. Perez did well in carrying the match, and Vice held her own. Tatum Paxley ran down to cause a distraction during the match, which cost Vice the bout.

Vice was getting a big push. So much for that, although all hope is not lost. Vice still lost here via pinfall, after some a distraction and Pop Rocks. Vice got save some face as Tatum Paxley appeared at ringside. Paxley jumped on the apron just before the finish. That distracted Vice, which in turn cost her the match.

Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend (with Noam Dar & Oro Mensah) defeated Fallon Henley & Wren Sinclair

Not going to win match of the year, but far from the worst either.

Hot tag to Henley, and she cleans house. Legend tries to pull Jackson out of the ring, and there is a tug-o-war with Henley, as Jackson is caught between them. Henley is sent throat-first into the middle rope. That allows Jackson to strike.

Sinclair makes a bling tag, and she pays for it. Legend cuts off Sinclair, and Legend powerbombs her. Legend then covers Sinclair for a pinfall.

Josh Briggs has some tough love fore Brooks Jensen. Not sure where this is going, but it made Jensen looks like a geek. Briggs tells him to grow some balls.

Jaida Parker goes to Ava in a skit, and Parker wants a match next week against Adrianna Rizzo. Ava books the match, but The Family and OTM are all banned from ringside.

Ridge Holland also verbally petitions for matches against Gallus. He has to defeat them on at a time, and if he loses one match against them, their feud is done. Sure, it is convoluted, but oh well. Could be worse, and the matches should be good.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Dijak in a non-title match

Mere days after a hard-hitting performance, Dragunov is back for another hard-hitting match. Things looked stiff at times, or at least snug.

They fought through a commercial break. Dijak targeted Dragunov’s broken nose at times, and Dragunov bled.

After all the seriousness and snug style of the match, the turning point was basically a comedy spot involving outside interference. Joe Gacy, whom Dijak defeated in a no DQ match at Vengeance Day, appears from underneath the ring.

Gacy wallops Dijak with a foreign object that has a boxing glove attached to the end. Looks like something a heel Doink the Clown would use to interfere. Gacy laughs maniacally after hitting Dijak, and Gacy darts back underneath the ring. Please say high to Hornswoggle for us. Thanks, Joe.

Dragunov drops a H-bomb on a dazes Dijak, and Dragunov scores a three count. The champ wins, albeit by outside interference.

Carmelo Hayes runs in after the match, and Hayes jumps Dragunov with a sneak attack. Hayes pummels Dragunov, and Hayes delivers a belt shot with the NXT Championship. Hayes poses with the strap as the show ends.

WWE NXT live results: Vengeance Day contract signing

Lyra Valkyria and Roxanne Perez are set to make things official for Vengeance Day tonight.

Last week, Perez won a number one contender’s battle royal to earn an NXT Women’s Championship shot against Valkyria at Vengeance Day. The battle royal turned into a fatal four-way match once it was down to the final four. Perez pinned Kelani Jordan to secure the title shot.

Vengeance Day is taking place on Sunday, February 4. Valkyria and Perez will sign the contract for their title match on NXT tonight.

The Vengeance Day card also includes the finals of the 2024 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin are facing Axiom & Nathan Frazer in a semifinal bout tonight.

Dragon Lee vs. Scrypts, Dijak vs. Joe Gacy, Blair Davenport vs. Karmen Petrovic, Wren Sinclair vs. Lash Legend, and Lexis King vs. Trey Bearhill have also been announced for tonight’s show. Plus, Noam Dar will be joined by Lola Vice on Supernova Sessions.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Opening the show live from a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando is a semifinal match in the ongoing Dusty Classic. Although their personalities and team dynamic are different, both pairs are similar in being essentially odd couple tag teams.

Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defeated Nathan Frazier & Axiom in a semifinal of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament

Breakker pinned Frazier to win the match, which was a great opener. Breakker & Corbin now advance to the tournament final.

Frazier & Axiom get on a roll early on before the bell ever sounds to start the match. Stereo dives, and a parade of high spots, before they get in the ring to officially start the bout.

The tide turns just as the show is about to take a commercial break, when he aerial tactics eventually cost Axiom & Frazier. Corbin counters a flying headscissors, and Corbin powerbombs Axiom on the announce desk. Frazier is caught on a high cross, and Breakker powerslams Frazier.

The match goes through a split-screen break. Breakker & Corbin are in control as the show returns from commercials. Breakker releases Axiom on a back drop and turns it into a cutter in an impressive spot.

Hot tag to Frazier, and Frazier is on fire moving at a rapid pace. Frazier leaps off the top turnbuckle into a flying crossbody on both Corbin & Breakker. Axiom & Frazier with back-to-back frog splashes for a near fall. Up next is a submission spot that Breakker breaks up by powerbombing Axiom on Frazier.

Corbin cuts off the babyface duo, and Corbin gets a near fall on Axiom. Frazier & Axiom get one last hurrah before they go home. Frazier executes a Spanish Fly on Breakker, and Frazier follows up with a Phoenix Splash. Corbin rushes in to break up a pinning attempt.

Corbin plants Axiom with End of Days. Corbin goes for the same finisher on Frazier, but Frazier counters. Breakker was waiting, and he pounces with a spear. That was worth of a highlight reel. Breakker then covers Frazier for a three count. Breakker & Corbin move on to the finals of the Dusty Classic.

Josh Briggs confronts NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov in a backstage skit. In comes Trick Williams to break them up. That led to Briggs and Williams having words, which sets up a match for later on. Dragunov said he will be watching.

Wren Sinclair is nervous about her match tonight, and Fallon Henley give her a pep talk.

Ava is the new General Manager of NXT. William Regal appears in a skit with Ava to deliver the big news. He and Ava come out of Shawn Michaels’ office. Regal congratulates Ava on being the youngest GM in WWE history. Regal asks Ava to look after the brand, and Ava thanks him.

Lash Legend (with Jakara Jackson, Oro Mensah & Noam Dar) defeated Wren Sinclair

Legend pinned Sinclair in what was Sinclair’s singles debut on NXT. This match was set up last week when Sinclair eliminated Sinclair from a battle royal.

Jackson interferes, but that backfires. Legend is still about to execute her chokeslam/spinebuster combo finisher. Legend the covers Sinclair for a pinfall.

Meta-Four surrounds Sinclair after the match in a menacing way. Fallon Henley runs down to make a save, and at the heels flee.

There is some time devoted to plugging the new WWE video game.

Dijak vs. Joe Gacy brawl to no-contest

They picked up where they left off last week, and they began brawling before the bell. Dijak cannot even get his jacket off. Gacy hits Dijak with a chair shot. Dijak would counter a moment later, and Dijak kicks Gacy through a gimmicked wall.

Unbeknownst to Dijak, Gacy crawls out of the wall with a smirk on his face. Gacy then fires up on Dijak, until Dijak puts Gacy through the announce desk. Referees and officials pour out trying to separate them, to no avail.

Gacy rises again from the ashes, and he catches Dijak in a sleeper. Gacy is peeled off by officials, as the bout ends before it even begins.

In a vignette, Von Wagner trains at a college football stadium with Mr. Stone and Stone’s two sons.

Lexis King defeated Trey Bearhill

This was  a grudge match weeks in the making that was thrown on a random episode of NXT like a filler match. This was about getting King over. He won via pinfall, after executing his Coronation finisher.

In a locker room skit, Carmelo Hayes warns Trick Williams that Dragunov is playing Williams.

Lola Vice is the guest on Supernova Sessions, hosted by Noam Dar and Oro Mensah. Vice sits down with Dar and Mensah to talk about Elektra Lopez. Vice and Lopez broke up last week when Vice eliminated Lopez last week in a battle royal.

Vice cuts a promo on Lopez, which brings out Lopez to interrupt. Lopez confronts Vice, and Lopez cuts a heck of a promo on Vice. Vice is getting the push, but Lopez is such a better talker than her.

Next week on NXT is Lopez and Vice in a singles mach. Lopez says she cannot wait until next week, and Lopez spears Vice onto the Supernova couch. Referees pout out for a pull-apart.

The Family cuts a promo on social media with a warning to OTM, in response to OTM roughing up the staff at The Family’s Italian restaurant.

Chase University is being cleaned out, literally. The crew took everything, including Duke Hudson’s MVP trophy and Andre Chase’s podium. Next week Hudson and Chase say their final goodbyes to Chase U.

Dragon Lee defeated Scrypts (with OTM)

They had a pretty good match, but it became a backdrop for other storytelling beyond the match itself. OTM had trashed The Family’s restaurant, and The Family was out for revenge.

Out runs Tony D’Angelo & Stacks. They get into a brawl with Lucien Price and Bronco Lima. The two teams brawl around ringside. Adrianna Rizza does a tope on Jaida Parker. This would seem to set up a trios match, possibly even for the tag straps.

For the finish of the match that was still ongoing, Dragon Lee executes his finisher on Scrypts. Lee then scores a pinfall.

New NXT North American Champion Oba Femi appears on a perch overlooking the ring. He informs Lee to has accepted Lee’s challenge for a return title match at Vengeance Day.

Blair Davenport defeated Karmen Petrovic

Much like other women’s match-ups on this episode, this was set up in the battle royal last week. Davenport got the win after her knee strike finisher. This was a showcase match for Davenport.

Ridge Holland in a backstage interview says he plans to take on the Gallus trio by himself.

Trick Williams defeated Josh Briggs

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is watching at ringside. while also doing guest commentary.

The match itself was a hoss fight. Dragunov on a few occasions urged Williams to get up when Williams was down selling, as Briggs got to look strong.

Just before the finish, Dragunov was urging Williams to get to his feet, when Dijak boots Dragunov over the announce desk. Williams then kicks Briggs. Dragunov tries to get in the ring, but in runs Carmelo Hayes to pull Dragunov off the apron.

Meanwhile, Briggs is cooking in the ring when he gets trapped by Williams on a victory roll. Three count later, and Williams wins the match. Briggs still hits Williams with a lariat after the bell. The live studio audience boos Briggs on his way out.

Williams was seemingly upset with Hayes for the help, as Williams previously told Hayes that Williams wanted to do it on his own.

Lexis King was hitting on Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail, when in comes Riley Osborne to their rescue. Osborne asks Hail to talk alone later tonight. Hail was freaking out, but Jayne convinces her to keep it together.

No Quarter Catch Crew is the focus of another vignette. Their new gimmick is the “Catch Clause,” which is similar in some ways to the Freebird Rule. Any member of the crew can wrestle in a match.

Carmelo Hayes yells at Trick Williams in a backstage skit.

Up next is the contract signing for the women’s title bout at Vengeance Day. New NXT GM Ava is hosting the segment, and she introduces Roxanne Perez and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria.

Perez and Valkyria sit down across from each other at a table sitting in the ring. Instead of bickering and arguing, they compliment each other. That praise eventually turns to some insults.

They both cut decent promos on each other. Ava convinces them to sign the contracts, making their title match official.

Valkyria leaves the ring, and the champs turns to have a stare down with Perez. Out of nowhere, Tatum Paxley is crawling around in the ring. Perez is blindsided by Paxley, and Paxley gives Perez a spinebuster through the table set up in the ring.

Rushing back to the ring, Valkyria rushes back into the ring. Paxley tries to hug her, but Valkyria shoves Paxley away. Valkyria screams at Paxley, as Paxley cries. The show goes off the air as the world turns. And so these are the days of our lives…

WWE NXT live results: Number one contender’s battle royal

A new number one contender for NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria is set to be determined tonight.

Tonight’s NXT episode will feature an “innovative” battle royal to decide Valkyria’s next challenger. The battle royal starts with 20 participants. Once it gets down to the final four, it turns into a fatal four-way match.

The winner gets their title shot against Valkyria at NXT Vengeance Day next month.

Valkyria will be in action tonight as well, teaming with Tatum Paxley against Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez. Women’s Breakout Tournament winner Vice holds a contract that grants her a title shot whenever she wants it.

The first round of the 2024 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is scheduled to continue with two matches: Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe and Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro vs. Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne.

We’ll hear from new NXT North American Champion Oba Femi after he cashed in to win the title from Dragon Lee last week. Ridge Holland vs. Joe Coffey is also set.

The show opens with a tag bout in the ongoing tournament.

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams defeated Malik Blade & Edris Enofe in a first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Williams pinned Enofe to win the match. Hayes & Williams now advance to the semifinal round of the Dusty Classic, where they meet the winners of the other first round match later tonight.

This was a great opener. The match goes through a commercial break. Blade & Enofe got to look strong. There were a parade of high spots down the stretch. Blade gets a nearfall after a flying elbow drop. Enofe also did a wicked-looking swinging DDT at one point. Enofe did a frog splash for a near fall as well.

As they went home, Blade misses a plancha. Meanwhile, Hayes delivers a codebreaker on Enofe. Williams then hits Enofe with a flying knee, and Williams covered Enofe for the pinfall.

Fallon Henley is interviewed by Kelly Kincaid, and Henley talks about the number one contender’s battle royal later on. Not sure if it her new catchphrase or not, but Henley ended her promo by exclaiming, “Yeehaw, bitch!”

New NXT North American Champion Oba Femi is heading to the ring for a monologue. This is his first appearance on NXT since winning the title last week. He is being billed as the first NIL athlete to win a championship in WWE.

Femi begins by saying everyone must be surprised he is the new North American champ, but this is a prophecy has been long foretold. Femi says he was destined to be the biggest and strongest, standing tall above everyone else. He was tested as a young Nigerian prince, and then tested again in the NCAA. As a D1 athlete, he said he made that world his own. He is now in NXT, and the goal is still the same.

Femi says by winning the title he has a divine right to rule over the audience. He threatens to crush anyone that stands in his way. This is the cue for an interruption, because no monologue in NXT rarely goes uninterrupted anymore.

Out comes Dragon Lee to confront Femi. Dragon Lee says he cannot be mad about Femi defeating him last week. Lee goes on to say no one is WWE history has made such a sudden impact. That is hyperbole, but it fits here.

Dragon Lee goes on to challenge Femi to a rematch for the title tonight on NXT. Femi sternly tells him “no” before saying the open challenges are now closed. Lee gets in Femi’s face, and Lee demands the rematch he deserves. Femi says he may consider it, and Femi walks past Lee, and Femi leaves the ring.

Eddy Thorpe and Trey Berryhill bond over their Native American culture in a locker room skit. In comes Dijak to interrupt, and Dijak basically uses threats to challenge Berryhill to a match tonight.

In another locker room skit, NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov informs Trick Williams that Williams will be getting his title shot at NXT Vengeance Day. That upsets Carmelo Hayes, as he notes to Williams they are supposed to be in the Dusty Classic finals on that night.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley defeated Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez

Valkyria and Paxley continue their angle where Paxley is infatuated with Valkyria. This a modern take on a similar program with Mickie James and Trish Stratus from years ago, except the current angle is far less degrading. Paxley was dressed in the same matching gear as Valkyria, and Paxley was doing Valkyria’s signature poses.

They build to a hot tag. Valkyria runs wild, until Paxley makes a blind tag when Valkyria is cut off. Paxley briefly slips before she leaps into the ring with a high cross. Valkyria and Vice duke it out, then Paxley rushes in to push Valkyria out of the way as Vice goes for a roundhouse kick. Paxley takes the bullet for Valkyria and eats the kick. Paxley falls in a heap on top of Lopez for a three count.

Arianna Grace cut a promo in a locker room skit. During her speech, everyone else on the locker room leaves. As Grace concludes, she looks around to see that she is alone.

Ridge Holland defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

This started as a hoss fight, but it turned into a quick win for Holland, as the match was rather short. Holland delivered a powerslam finisher, and Holland then covered Coffey for a pinfall.

Gallus jump Holland after the match. After a beat down, Holland is left laying prone in the ring. Coffey then stands over him. This would seem to set up a return match.

Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker are featured in a backstage skit where they bicker over the name of their team. Breakker thought of “The Wolf Dogs,” and that it not go over well with Corbin. This skit was supposed to be comedy I guess.

LWO (Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro with Zelina Vega) defeated Chase U (Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne with Andre Chase) in a first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Del Toro pinned Hudson to win the match. LWO now advances to the semifinals where they meet Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams.

Hudson thought he had a cover, but he was unaware of a blind tag. Wilde does a dive that takes out Osborne, Wilde then does a dive through the ropes to deliver a tornado DDT to Hudson on the floor. That pops the live studio audience so much they start a “holy s***” chant, which is bleeped by the USA Network censors.

For the finish itself, Wilde does a springbaord moonsault on Hudson. He tags out, and Del Toro executes a Phoenix Splash. Del Toro then covers Hudson for a pinfall.

The Family give Adrianna Rizzo a pep talk, ahead of her competing in the battle royal later on.

Dressed in an ill-fitting suit and tie, Joe Gacy is at the announce desk. Gacy is there much to the chagrin of commentators Vic Joseph and Booker T. Gacy’s jacket has the redone version of the old block logo, which used to be on all of the announcers sports coats.

A locker room skit from “last week” sets up a match between Von Wagner and Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup.

Dijak defeated Trey Berryhill

Dijak pinned Berryhill after a high kick. Gacy got involved at one point, as Dijak was berating the announce team. Gacy leaned over the desk to headbutt Dijak. That led to Berryhill making a comeback on Dijak, but Dijak counters to deliver a high kick. After the big boot, Dijak covers Berryhill for a pinfall.

Gacy jumped Dijak after the match, and they brawl up the aisle and out the sound stage. As they brawl their way to the back, Berryhill is still in the ring. Suddenly, Berryhill is attacked by Lexis King. Berryhill takes a swinging neckbreaker from King, and King slapped Berryhill several times across the face.

JBL in a cameo appearance is backstage when Josh Briggs asks JBL for advice. JBL asks, “Who is Josh Briggs?” JBL wants Briggs to show NXT who he is.

A promotional tie-in with the new Ted series features a spoof of a WWE documentary about the title character.

No Quarter Catch Crew is the focus of a vignette.

Trick Williams apologizes to Carmelo Hayes about their earlier disagreement. Williams has a solution, which is him working twice at Vengeance Day.

20-woman number one contender’s battle royal

Kelani Jordan did the Kofi gimmick of not letting her feet touch the floor. She did the Shawn Michaels’ spot from the Rumble ’95 where she held on to the top rope. She was then knocked off the apron, but landed with a crossbody on the announce desk. The show cuts to commercial with Jordan standing on the desk. She is back in the ring when the show returns from the commercial break.

Lola Vice eliminated her tag partner, Elektra Lopez. Vice is then eliminated by Tatum Paxley, playing off their match earlier in the show. Vice and Lopez then apparently split as a team. They get into a fight with each other at ringside, and they brawl their way to the back.

Karmen Petrovic eliminated Blair Davenport. A vindictive Davenport pulls Petrovic out of the ring underneath the bottom rope. Davenport then delivers a knee strike to Petrovic, and Davenport rolls Petrovic back into the ring. Petrovic sells like she is dead, and she is ultimately eliminated by Arianna Grace. Thea Hail would go on to eliminate Grace, as Grace is celebrating like she won.

The match goes through a second commercial break. This would be the final commercial break on the show, and the battle royal continued on a split-screen.

The final four remaining were Kelani Jordan, Kiana James, Fallon Henley and Roxanne Perez. The battle royal then turns into a fatal four-way to decide the winner.

Roxanne Perez defeated Kelani Jordan, Kiana James and Fallon Henley in a fatal four-way to become the number one contender

Perez pinned Jordan to win the match and become the number one contender.

Jordan got to shine with an Asai moonsault, but she would eventually drop the deciding fall. James executed her flatliner finisher on Jordan, but Jordan rolled out of the ring before James could capitalize. James goes on on to counter Pop Rocks. Perez and James tease a superplex, and that led into Perez doing a Super Frankensteiner.

For the finish itself, Jordan is running wild. She goes for split-legged moonsault. Izzy Dane pulls James out of the way, leaving Jordan to crash and burn. Perez then executes Pop Rocks on Jordan, and Perez covers her for a pinfall.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria comes out after the match to have a stare down with Perez as the shoe goes off the air.

WWE NXT New Year’s Evil live results: Two title matches

WWE’s New Year’s Knockout Week continues tonight with a special episode of NXT.

TTwo championship matches headline NXT New Year’s Evil 2024. Trick Williams and Blair Davenport are getting the title shots that they earned by winning the Iron Survivor Challenge matches at NXT Deadline. Williams is challenging Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship. Davenport is facing Lyra Valkyria with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line.

A grudge match between Tiffany Stratton and Fallon Henley will go down tonight. If Stratton wins, Henley has to become her servant for a day. If Henley wins, Stratton will need to spend 24 hours working as a ranch hand for Henley.

The winner of the Men’s Breakout Tournament will be crowned when Riley Osborne and Oba Femi face off tonight.

With Dragon Lee unable to appear due to visa issues, Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro will have a mystery partner against the No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne). Roxanne Perez vs. Arianna Grace is also set.

*********************

The show begins with a video package highlighting tonight’s supercard. The first of two title matches opens the show, which is live from a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando.

The first 30 minutes is commercial free. That is special, but the setting itself is run-of-the-mill. Special graphics on the video screen aside, this looks like any other episode of NXT from the PC.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria defeated Blair Davenport to retain her title

Valkyria pinned Davenport after a Michinoku Driver/fireman’s carry combo finisher. Seemed very snug at times, like they were beating the heck out of each other.

In setting up the finish, Davenport executes an avalanche Falcon Arrow off the top, but Valkyria rolls outside the ring before Davenport can cover her. Davenport goes outside after Valkyria, and Davenport is tossing her around near the announce desk. Davenport goes for a knee strike, Valkyria moves, and Davenport strikes the desk. Davenport sells her knee after she broke a hole in the desk.

Back in the ring, Davenport goes for a suplex, but her knee gives out. She goes for a double stomp, after delivering one earlier in the match. No water in the pool this time around. Davenport lands on the mat, and sells her knee. Valkyria boots her in the face, and Valkyria executes a finisher. One, two, three, and Valkyria retains via pinfall.

Lola Vice ran down to ringside with her contract she recently earned. The gimmick is the contract is like Money in the Bank, and it can be cashed it at any time. Vice is about to cash in when Tatum Paxley jumps out from the front row to attack Vice. In runs Elektra Lopez to back up Vice, and she brawls with Paxley. Valkyria makes a save, and there is a brawl at ringside. Seems to set up a tag match with Valkyria teaming with Paxley for sometime soon.

A crawler at the bottom of the TV screen during the last match promised breaking news, and it involved the men’s NXT Championship match scheduled for the show. NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is not cleared to compete, so they title bout for later tonight is reportedly off.

In another change to the advertised card, Dragon Lee is having some of sort of issue with his visa. Therefore, Dragon Lee is missing the show. He is replaced by Carlito in a trios match that is up next.

LWO (Carlito, Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro) defeated No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne) in a six-man tag team match

Kemp drops the fall for his team, after he is pinned by Del Toro.

Wilde does a wild dive to the outside, where Carlito and Del Toro help by launching him off the middle rope. Wilde is soon cut off, and the heels work him over. That builds to a hot tag, where Carlito tags in and cleans house.

Wildes wipes out Gulak and Borne, after a corkscrew senton off the top to the floor. Kemp goes for an O’Connor roll on Carlito, not realizing there was a blind tag. Kemp takes a backstabber from Carlito, and Del Toro follows up with a Phoenix Splash. Del Toro then scores a pinfall on Kemp. Playing into his gimmick, Carlito spits an apple in Gulak’s face after the match.

Grayon Waller returns to NXT when he interrupts an interview with Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Hayes hypes up Trick, before Hayes promises that Williams will put up his title shot tonight in a match against Waller. Trick is not happy with Hayes, but Waller accepts the challenge nonetheless.

Riley Osborne is featured in a vignette from Chase U. In the skit, Osborne recites and essay he is writing about his match later tonight.

Arianna Grace defeated Roxanne Perez via a reversed decision

Perez attacks Grace after the match, and the referee reverses his decision. That awards the match to Grace, despite Perez scoring a pinfall. Perez teases a heel turn, or something like that.

Perez pinned Grace after Pop Rox (Code Red). Grace got some offense with some heel tactics, as she worked over Perez. Eventually, Perez hulks up. Perez looks to make a comeback. Grace cut her off, but Perez counters into her finisher. Perez then cradles Grace for a three count.

Grace yells at Perez after the match, screaming that Perez “needs help!” Perez snaps and jumps Grace. Perez locks in a crossface, and several referees have to pry her off Grace. Perez flashes a sinister smile before letting go of the hold. I will never be comfortable with that sport after living through the summer of 2007.

Blair Davenport and Nikkita Lyons argue in a backstage skit, nearly leading to a fight. This would seem to set up a singles bout between the two.

Fallon Henley defeated Tiffany Stratton in a servant or ranch hand stipulation match

Henley pinned Stratton to win this grudge match. Thus, Stratton has to serve as a ranch hand for Henley.

This is a takeoff of an angle done with Jimmy Garvin and David Von Erich in World Class, during the heyday of that promotion in the 1980s. Garvin lost a match, and he had to serve as Von Erich’s valet for a day. That led to humorous skits where Von Erich ordered Garvin (and Garvin’s valet Precious) to do various chores around the ranch. The angle was likely done elsewhere at other times, by the World Class version I recall fondly the most.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. They had a good grudge match. The setting hurt it some, as they likely would have more heat in an arena setting outside of the sameness of the sound stage.

For the finish, Stratton grabs a metal folding chair. Stratton looks to use the chair as a weapon. The referee takes the chair from Stratton. With Stratton distracted by the chair, Henley charges at her to deliver a running knee strike. Henley then covers Stratton for a pinfall.

Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker star in a lackluster skit where they agree to team up for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. They still bickered, but they are a team. Whatever, dudes. Why should we care?

Oba Femi cuts a promo ahead of his match tonight in the finals of the Men’s Breakout Tournament. Oba Femi is such a promising new character.

Cora Jade and Gigi Dolan get into a argument over a locker. So, we have another grudge match over a locker. Half expecting to see Mr. Belding run in to ask, “What is going on her!?” Even Saved by the Bell had more complex storylines than fights over a dern locker.

Ridge Holland sits down for an interview, where he discusses the injury angle with Dragunov. Holland also discussing other injuries he either suffered or was part of during his WWE career.

Holland talks about blowing out his knees in a NXT match. Holland returns and joins the main roster, and Holland gets smashed in the face. He had reconstructive surgery. Now Holland is back. Holland goes on to say he had no ill intend when Dragunov suffered an injury in their match.

Holland concludes by saying he is going to show who he truly is by running through the NXT roster.

In a backstage skit, Thea Hail marks out when she high fives her crush, Riley Osborne.

Oba Femi defeated Riley Osborne to win the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament

The match probably went too long, but it was a tournament final so they were given a lot of time. Femi is portrayed like a monster heel.

As they went home, Osborne is going for a shooting star press. Oba Femi gets his knees up, and he awakens like a Kraken. Femi gives Osborne a snake eyes, and Femi tosses Osborne with a suplex that seems rather unsafe. Femi then delivers a powerbomb, and Femi covers Osborne for a pinfall.

OTM cut a promo on NXT Tag Team Champions The Family. This hypes up a tag team title match on the next episode of NXT.

Kiana James and Izzi Dame are interviewed by Kelly Kincaid. Another interview on this show where no one interrupted them. That has to be some kind of record.

More tension between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes, as Williams tells Hayes that Williams wants to wrestle on his own tonight. That means no Hayes at ringside, which visibly upsets Hayes.

Jacy Jayne is somehow no in charge of Chase U, or at least their booking of matches. Jayne tells Andre Chase to only focus on his debt, and she is now in running things. Jayne replaces Chase with Riley Osborne as Duke Hudson’s tag team partner in the Dusty Classic. Jayne vows to restore Chase U to glory. I was unaware her character cared so deeply about education until now.

Tatum Paxley continues to freak out WWE Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria.

Nathan Frazier and Axiom agree to team up for the Dusty Classic. Edris Enofe and Malik Blade overhear Frazier bragging, which is Frazier’s new gimmick where he stick his foot in his mouth.

NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo cut a promo on OTM. Tony D also introduces the audience to Adriana Rizzo, who has been featured in skits over the last several weeks. Joe Gacy also locked himself in a trunk for some unrelated reason. Tony D was not alone in being confused by Gacy’s gimmick. Same here.

Trick Williams defeated Grayson Waller

Williams pinned Waller, after a surprise appearance by Kevin Owens. Carmelo Hayes also did a run-in, as he argued with Williams just before the finish. In winning, Williams remains the number one contender.

Not a bad match, but anti-climatic after it replaced a main event title match that was build up for a few weeks. A cameo by Kevin Owens at least made it feel a little more special.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. Probably did not need to be that long, but it was the main event so they got main event time. They did some good near falls after the show returns from the commercial break. Waller is overheard at times loudly calling spots. Kayfabe, brother.

Carmelo Hayes runs down and jumps on the apron at one point. Williams and Hayes argue as Waller looks to capitalize. Kevin Owens suddenly appears at ringside. Owens attacks Waller, and Owen rolls Waller back into the ring. Williams abandoned his argument with Hayes just in time to hit Waller with a flying knee. Williams then covers Waller for a three count. Williams retains his number one contender status.

WWE NXT live results: NXT Underground match

On the final NXT episode of 2023, Eddy Thorpe and Dijak look to settle their rivalry.

Dijak and Thorpe are facing off in an NXT Underground match tonight. The two have been at war for months, including Thorpe recently costing Dijak the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline. Their most recent match ended in a disqualification when Dijak used a turnbuckle and the ring ropes to attack Thorpe.

There will be no ropes tonight in the MMA-inspired NXT Underground match. It’s the second time the stipulation has ever been used. Thorpe defeated Damon Kemp in the first NXT Underground match this July.

Cora Jade, who made her return at Deadline, will be in action against Karmen Petrovic tonight.

There will also be a Heritage Cup Championship match with Josh Briggs challenging Noam Dar. Briggs has said that, even though Dar will have Meta-Four with him, Briggs needs to do this on his own and doesn’t want Brooks Jensen or Fallon Henley getting involved.

Plus, both semifinal matches in the Men’s Breakout Tournament will take place. Our coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Taped before a live studio audience from a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando, the show opens with an “all of nothing” tag team match.

OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price with Scrypts) defeated Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)

The “all or nothings” stipulation relates to Chase U’s debt. If Chase U won this match, all of their debt would be wiped out. They lost, so their debt doubles, or something like that. This storyline where Saved by the Bell meets The Sopranos is a bit convoluted.

NXT Tag Team Champions The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Stacks) watch from a perch overlooking the ring, as they have a stake in Chase U’s debt.

Heat on Chase that leads to a hot tag. In comes Hudson like a house of fire. Scrypts jumps on the apron, and Hudson gives him a hip toss into the ring. With Hudson distracted with Scyrpts, Chase makes a bling tag.

Chase assures Hudson, “I got this!” However, Chase did not. He eats a superkick from Price. Nima then tags in, and Price assists him in executing a tandem spinebuster. Nima then covers Chase for a three count.

Hudson was noticeably upset with Chase after their loss.

The first winners of the NXT Year-End Awards are announced with very little fanfare, as a generic voiceover announces the winners. Tag Team of the Year is The Creed Brothers. Female Superstar of the Year is Tiffany Stratton. Male Superstar of the Year is Ilja Dragunov. Fan voting was supposed to determine who won the awards, but I am not sure if that is a shoot.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams meet up backstage, and they talk about the injury to NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov. Williams is thinking of postponing the match, but Hayes urges him to not to postpone. Hayes urges to take the shot, thus taking advantage of an injury to win the title.

Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar (with Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson & Oro Mensah) defeated Josh Briggs via disqualification to retain the trophy

Briggs gets DQ’d in the fourth round, and Dar is awarded the win. Although Dar had his Meta-Four entourage in his corner, Briggs in storyline was adamant that he do this alone without his pals. That decision likely cost him the match.

The match itself was pretty good, but just the audience is getting invested, it ends with a lame DQ. Could have done it in the second of third round, and saved us all that time.

Briggs dominated in the first round, but Dar was saved by the bell. Briggs was about to powerbomb Dar when the bell rings to end the round.

Dar tries to counter with a triangle in the second round, but Briggs powers out. Briggs goes on to deliver a Western Lariat, and Briggs covers Dar for a pinfall to end round two in under 90 seconds.

Much of round three is during a split-screen commercial break, and Dar cuts off Briggs. The show returns from the break with 30 seconds remaining in the third round. Dar and Briggs are fighting on the apron, and Dar gives Briggs on DDT. Dar delivers a finisher on the floor to Briggs as the round ends.

Briggs bled from the nose and/or mouth. Briggs is on rubber legs as round four begins. Dar capitalizes with a fast paced attacks, but Briggs keeps kicking out of covers.

Briggs fires up with a big boot for a near fall. A moment later and Dar targets Briggs’ leg. Dar jumps off the top rope on the Briggs’ leg. Dar goes for an ankle lock, but Briggs escapes.

Briggs levels Dar with a right hand, and Dar hits the mat like falling timber. As the referee goes to check on Dar, Legend jumps on the apron. She hits Briggs in the back of the head with a spit bucket, and Briggs crumples to the mat. Dar hooks a leg, but Briggs still kicked out.

Jakara Jackson tries tossing Dar the bucket, but Briggs takes it away from Dar. Briggs hits Dar with the bucket in full view of the referee. The ref signals for a DQ, and Briggs loses the match as a DQ automatically ends the bout (instead of the score being 1-1).

Cora Jade defeated Karmen Petrovic

This match was set up after a dispute over a locker. Petrovic was upset at Jade for disrespecting her and stealing her locker. Petrovic got a lot of offense, but Jade cuts her off. Jade then delivers a double-arm DDT, and Jade covers Petrovic for a three count.

Jade acts like she is going to pummel Petrovic more after the match, but Gigi Dolan runs down to make a save. Jade flees to fight another day.

Riley Osborne defeated in a semifinal match in the NXT Breakout Tournament

King was looking dominate when out comes Trey Bearhill. He was carrying a metal folding chair, and was seemingly out for revenge on King. King is distracted by the Bearhill, allowing Osborne to execute a shooting star press on King. Osborne then scores a pinfall on King. Osborne advances to the tournament final.

Bearhill, who looks similar to a larger, more angry Post Malone, attacks King after the match. In storyline, King took Bearhill’s spot in the tournament after attacking him. Now Bearhill is out for revenge. King is taking a beating, but he slithers out of the ring to escape a beatdown.

More NXT Year-End Awards: Match of the Year is Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov at NXT No Mercy (September 30) and Moment of the Year is Undertaker arrives in NXT.

Ava, who is now an official spokesperson of NXT, tells reporter Kelly Kincaid that there is no update on the condition of NXT Champ Ilja Dragunov.

Bron Breakker defeated Nathan Frazier

Baron Corbin was scouting the match from a monitor backstage.

The story of the match was a variation of David vs. Goliath. Similar to the Dar-Briggs earlier in the show, the dynamic was at least different here as Goliath was a heel in this match (rather than the face in the earlier bout). It worked much better here, and this was arguably the best match on the show so far.

The match goes through a commercial break. Frazier is getting pummeled as the show returns from the break. He eventually makes a comeback, and Frazier does a dive through the ropes. Breakker is sent crashing into the ring steps.

Frazier jumps off the top rope into the waiting arms of Breakker, and Breakker slams him hard. Breakker measures for a spear, but Frazier cuts him off with a superkick. Frazier goes for a Phoenix Splash, but Breakker moves. Frazier rolls through and is back on his feet. Not for long, as Breakker mows him down with spear. Breakker then hooks a leg for a three count.

Drew Gulak and the No Quarter Catch Crew cut promos on Dragon Lee and the LWO. By the way, “No Quarter Catch Crew” is a terrible name in my opinion, for whatever that is worth. Too many words in one name.

Fallon Henley, Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs meet backstage, and the apparently agree to go their separate ways. They all want to go singles. Why can’t they be friends anymore? They at least say they love each other.

In a skit with Arianna Grace and Ava, Grace finds out Roxanne Perez is her opponent in a match next week at New Year’s Evil.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria and Blair Davenport sat down for a “face-to-face” segment. They bickered, argued and insulted each other. This was supposed to hype up their title match next week. Not sure it did that, but whatever. Their match should be good.

Oba Femi defeated Tavion Heights in a semifinal match in the NXT Breakout Tournament

Vic Joseph on commentary remarks that most people thought these two would meet in the finals, instead of the semifinals. That makes no sense if you know how brackets work.

They had a hoss fight in the match itself. Femi eventually executes a pop-up powerbomb, and Femi covers Heights for a pinfall. Femi advances to face Riley Osborne in the tournament final, which happens next week at New Year’s Evil.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov shows up wearing a neck brace. He tells Kelly Kincaid that he is looking for Trick Williams.

Joe Gacy defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

Gacy enters through the crowd like he is Raven on a episode of Nitro in ’97, minus all the fanfare. Last week he was under the ring like Hornswoggle. His gimmick make less sense to me as the weeks go by, but at least this match somewhat makes sense as Gacy cost Coffey a match on a previous episode. Plus, this was the battle of two guys named Joe.

Hank Walker & Tank Ledger run down to ringside during the match, and they brawl with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang. Meanwhile, Gacy with the Upside Down finisher, and Gacy covers Coffey for a pinfall.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Dijak in an Underground match

Despite some silly things, this was otherwise a good match. Thorpe has good charisma. His face was painted for this match, giving him a modified look for this gimmick match.

Of course, with the “Underground” setting, no ropes on a ring surrounded by what are essentially lumberjacks in pro wrestling parlance. Their main job was pounding on the mat, which gave the setting a Pit Fighter vibe.

If they were supposed to act like lumberjacks in a lumberjack match, they failed miserably. That was a gimmick in early versions of the “Underground,” but Thorpe and Dijak brawled around ringside with no interference. Those at ringside parted like the Red Sea, as they allowed Dijak and Thorpe to keep brawling on the floor. Later, there would be a stunt at ringside.

At one point, Thorpe gives Dijak a German suplex. Diajk is suplexed out of the ring, but he (sort of) lands on his feet at ringside. Dijak then lifts Thorpe on his shoulder for the Feast Your Eyes finisher. Thorpe is laid out on the floor.

For some reason, an angry Dijak rages on the lumberjacks. Dijak mows down several of them at ringside, but that allows Thorpe time to recover. Thorpe backdrops Dijak back into the ring. In the mean time, Dijak has wrapped his hand with a belt he used earlier in the match.

Thorpe blocks a punch with the wrapped hand, and Thorpe delivers an implant DDT referred to as “Manifest Destiny.” With a receipt from earlier in the match, Thorpe whips Dijak with the belt. Thorpe applies a sleeper, but Dijak rams Thorpe into a ring post to break the hold.

Thorpe counters a powerbomb with a hurricanrana. Dijak takes a bump out of the ring, and he lands with a thud on the floor. Thorpe follows up with a flying elbow drop off the apron. Dijak takes another “Manifest Destiny” DDT, but this time Thorpe gives him the DDT on the floor. Dijak in a corny manner yells he will not give up.

Thorpe mounts Dijak and again applies the sleeper. Dijak tries to break the hold, and somehow Dijak manages to climb up a set of ring steps. The steps are conveniently set up beside the announce desk. They tease a Nestea Plunge through the desk, but Thorpe let go of the sleeper. Thorpe then does a DDT that sends him and Dijak crashing through the announce desk. Thorpe gets to his feet, but Dijak is unable to do the same. Thorpe is awarded the match.

The show closes with a contract signing with Trick Williams and Ilja Dragunov. They are backstage seating at a table across from each other. As he signs the contract, Williams says they can postpone the match. Dragunov responds by taking off his neck brace and saying nothing can stop him. Dragunov signs the contract and they have a stare down as the show fades to black.

WWE NXT live results: Dragon Lee North American title defense

Looking to be a fighting champion, Dragon Lee puts his North American title up for grabs on NXT tonight.

Dragon Lee will defend his championship against a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew. The group consists of Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp, and Myles Borne.

At NXT Deadline earlier this month, Lee defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the North American Championship. He’s already made one successful title defense against Tyler Bate. Lee is also set to defend the title against Butch on SmackDown this Friday night.

A grudge match will take place as Tiffany Stratton goes one-on-one with Fallon Henley. Thea Hail & Jacy Jane vs. Kiana James & Izzi Dame is also set, along with Hank Walker & Tank Ledger vs. Gallus.

Plus, the first round of the Men’s Breakout Tournament will continue with Lexis King vs. Dion Lennox and Tavion Heights vs. Luca Crusifino.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

A taped episode of NXT opens with a grudge match several weeks in the making.

Fallon Henley defeated Tiffany Stratton

Henley pinned Stratton in a good match, albeit short. Not long, but it did not need to be. Stratton dropped the fall, so she got a lot offense in return. Stratton attacks Henley after the match to keep the feud going.

Setting up the finish, they were trading near falls. Henley kicked out of a powerbomb, and they began exchanging cradles with each reversing the other. Henley won the match when she scored a pinfall after a reversal.

Stratton attacks Henley after the bell. Henley’s head is rammed into the announce desk. Stratton drags Henley backstage, and Stratton continues to pummel her.

Calling her trash while doing so, Stratton wipes a mop on Henley’s face. Stratton then dumps a full trash can on Henley. Stratton calls her a loser and she leaves.

Trick Williams meets Carmelo Hayes in the locker room. Hayes apologizes to Williams, but Trick says no need. They are good. Williams asks Hayes if he really saw who hit him. Hayes says he did not see him, but nobody hit him as hard as Dragunov. So it must be him.

Hayes proposes that they make the NXT title match at New Year’s Evil as triple threat match. Williams ponders why would they do that. Hayes responds they do not have to fight each. They can get revenge and take the title home with them.

Williams tells Hayes he does not even really know if who attacked him, and Williams goes on to say he won at Deadline to earn himself a shot. Hayes says it does not matter who wins the title. Williams wants to win the title one-one-one just like Hayes did. Williams tells Hayes he wants Hayes to help him train.

Meanwhile, NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is headed to the ring for a monologue. Dragunov starts by saying he does not know how he got caught up in the Hayes and Williams saga.

Dragunov goes on to talk about winning the title. He is a human who sacrifices himself because that title deserves it. Suddenly, Dragunov is interrupted, because seemingly nobody can finish a monologue in NXT without an interruption.

Out comes Ridge Holland to the ring. He is looking to redeem himself after many setbacks. Holland wants to prove himself. Holland says Dragunov can help. Dragunov asks if he is asking for a title shot. Holland replies that he will basically work his way up the roster to a shot. This is the first chapter in Holland’s redemption.

Dragunov is impressed by Holland, so he grants Holland a match tonight. Williams confronts Dragunov backstage after a commercial break. Williams is upset that Dragunov gave someone else a match. Dragunov says the champion dictates to the challenger. Williams warns Dragunov he is only champ until New Year’s Evil.

Lexis King defeats Dion Lennox in the first round of the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament

King took the fight to Lennox, but Lennox fought back. King flees the ring and grabs the Breakout contract that was on display at ringside. As if that is legally binding. No matter, as Lennox went outside to cut off King. Maybe it was ploy by King, as he is the one to cut off Lennox when they were back in the ring.

King rams Lennox shoulder first into a ring post. King then executes a swinging neckbreaker. Vic Joseph on commentary called the move a “coronation,” while Booker T calls it a “sleeper.” It assuredly was not a sleeper hold. Regardless, King then covers Lennox for a pinfall.

Trey Bearhill runs out after the match. He rushed the ring looking for revenge on King, who jumped Bearhill last week. That led to King replacing Bearhill in the tournament. If the match was this week, and Bearhill is okay to do a run in. Then, why did King replace him in the first place? Just because he attacked him last week? That makes little sense.

In a vignette, Eddy Thorpe challenges Dijak to a NXT Underground match next week.

Kiana James & Izzi Dame defeated Thea Hail & Jacy Jane

Despite being a taped show, there is a production error with the graphics. Izzi Dame was billed on a graphic as being “with” Kiana James, as if Dame was in James’ corner instead of her tag partner.

Hot tag to Hail, and she runs wild. The Chase U section was cheering her on, but that distracts her. Apparently, the distraction was mainly Hail’s crush being in the crowd. James cuts off Hail, but Hail is able to counter. However, a bling tag is made and Hail is unaware. Hail locks in a Kimura lock on James, but James is not legal. Dame is legal, and she boots Hail in the face with a high kick. Dame then covers Hail for a pinfall.

Andre Chase and Duke Hudson are grambling in a dice game with Bronco Nima and Lucien Price. This sets up a tag match for next week, and Chase is doubling down his bets in hopes of paying off his debt.

NXT North American Champion Dragon Lee defeated Charlie Dempsey  (with Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne) and Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) to retain the title

This started off as a open challenge where Lee thought he was facing someone of Gulak’s stable. Gallus interrupts, and Joe Coffey tells Lee to pick between Coffey and Dempsey. Lee says both, making the match a triple threat.

For some reason, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang are at ringside dresses in attire that made them look like the Killer Bees tag team. The yellow-and-black striped shirt are probably supposed to look like soccer jerseys, but looks like the Killer Bees to me.

Lots of action as one can imagine in the match itself. It goes through a commercial break. Even more action after the break, with some nifty three-way spots. Some really good stuff, aside from some corny gimmick with Joe Gacy.

Still not sure what to make of Joe Gacy’s new gimmick. Last week he was doing the Black Top Bully heckling gimmick. This week he stole Hornswoggle’s gimmick. Gacy appears from underneath the ring. Moments later, Joe Coffey is dragged underneath the ring, presumably by Gacy.

In the ring, Lee is one-one-one with Dempsey. Lee executes Operation Dragon (running sliced bread-type move) and Lee covers Dempsey for a pinfall.

Gulak and his crew jump Lee after the mach. Wilde and Cruz of the LWO run down to make a save. They run off Gulak and his crew. This would seem to set up a tag bout or possibly a trios match.

Tavion Heights defeated Luca Crusifino in a first round match in the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament

Heights won after pinning Crusifino with a belly-to-belly suplex. This match looked so indie. Crusifino’s gimmick is he is a lawyer. It was so indi-rific. This did not belong on national television, but it was nonetheless.

Height advances to the semifinals, where he faces Oba Femi.

A video package hypes the upcoming title belt with NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria defending against challenger Blair Davenport.

Nikkita Lyons defeated Tatum Paxley

Lyons pinned Paxley in what was Lyons return match after being away for so long. It was an okay match, and not pretty at times. Paxley works on arm, but this was more of a showcase match for Lyons. She made a comeback, and Lyons delivers a combo kick to set up the pinfall.

Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang with Joe Coffey) defeated Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Mark Coffey pinned Walker to win the match. The finish involved the tag rope. Ledger tried to tag in, while Walker was being worked over in the ring. However, Ledger was not holding on to the tag rope, so the tag did not count. Meanwhile, Walker gets booted in the face, and Coffey covers him for a three count.

Joe Coffey is inexplicably back from being dragged underneath the ring, as he was in Gallus’ corner. His eyes dart around, and he keeps looking scared of something. Joe Gacy was in the Chase U student section for whatever reason. What the heck is up with Gacy’s new gimmick?

Dijak accepts the challenge by Eddy Thorpe for NXT Underground.

Tiffany Stratton cuts a promo on Fallon Henley, and Stratton challenges Henley to a stipulation match. If Stratton wins, Henley becomes Stratton’s servant.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Ridge Holland in a non-title match ended in a no-contest

At least I think it was no-contest. It was not made clear, as they did an injury angle. This plays off others being injured in a Holland match, which includes legit injuries such as Big E suffering a broken neck.

Holland DDT’s Dragunov into the mat, and Dragunov sells like he is seriously injured, The referee checks on Dragunov, and out comes medical staff with a stretcher. Dragunov is placed in a neck brace and carried away on a stretcher. Holland is distraught over having caused the injury. That is the cliffhanger angle that closed the show. To be continued next week on NXT.

WWE NXT live results: Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed, Cameron Grimes return

Three former North American Champions return to NXT tonight for a fatal four-way bout.

To earn a North American title match against Dominik Mysterio, Wes Lee has to defeat Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed, and Cameron Grimes tonight. Dominik refused to grant Lee a title shot and said the only way he could earn the opportunity is by defeating Gargano, Reed, and Grimes.

The NXT Tag Team titles will be on the line as Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo defend against Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo. Garza & Carrillo ambushed D’Angelo & Stacks last week after a D’Angelo Family dinner.

Two more wrestlers will earn their spots in the Iron Survivor Challenge matches at NXT Deadline. Tonight’s qualifying matches are Bron Breakker vs. Eddy Thorpe and Kelani Jordan vs. Kiana James. This week’s participants were chosen by Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Dijak, Trick Williams, and Josh Briggs have already qualified for the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge. Tiffany Stratton, Lash Legend, and Blair Davenport are the first three names to be confirmed for the women’s Iron Survivor Challenge.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The show opened with the Tag Team title match competitors brawling on their way to the ring as Vic Joseph & Booker T welcomed us to NXT.

NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Stacks Lorenzo defeated Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo to retain the titles

Tony D & Stacks retained in a solid outing. Both have improved greatly in the last year-plus, and Garza & Carrillo have been fantastic for years.

Tony D & Stacks dominated the early part of the bout. They teased the Pwer & Glory/FTR superplex splash spot, but Garza & Carrillo cut them off and took over. Garza & Carrillo worked Stacks over through a picture-in-picture ad break.

Tony D got a hot tag after the break. Stacks tagged back in and got cut off again. Garza hit a nice missile dropkick off the top as Carrillo held Stacks for a near fall.

Garza hit a low blow and covered Stacks for a two count. Stacks hit a low blow to Garza in kicking out.

Tony D & Stacks hit the Bada Bing Bada Boom. Tony D launched Stacks out of the ring onto Carrillo on the floor, then covered Garza for the pin to retain the titles.

Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match: Kelani Jordan defeated Kiana James

They kept this simple until it was time for Jordan’s comeback when she started to incorporate more of her athleticism. A fine match with a terrible finish.

Jordan used headlocks and basic offense to control the first part of the contest. James sent Jordan into the announce table to take control prior to an ad break.

Jordan’s comeback began during a picture-in-picture commercial break. Jordan hit an axe kick and a rocker dropper for near falls.

James blocked a superplex and hit a 401K for a near fall.

For the finish, Roxanne Perez rang the ring bell. This distracted James and allowed Jordan to hit a kick and split-legged moonsault for the pin.

This gave Jordan a nice win and furthered the Perez-James issue, but Perez is booked like an obnoxious jerk and not the old school babyface that she was born to play. It’s fascinating.

Chase refused to say how much money he owed, but that it was “significant.” He also declined to say who he was in debt to.

**********

Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match: Bron Breakker defeated Eddy Thorpe

This was at a different level than everything else on the show to this point. Just the crispness and confidence with which these guys run the ropes, their polish, their movement and positioning, everything.

This wasn’t quite a squash as Breakker gave Thorpe a little bit of offense, but it was a showcase for Breakker.

Breakker dominated with his throws, shoulder tackles, and suplexes. Thorpe hit a series of suplexes as he made his comeback, but sold his taped-up ribs in landing each one.

Breakker cut him off with a spear for the pinfall.

**********

Arianna Grace defeated Karmen Petrovic

This was a wrestling school match that served more as a backdrop for the Gacy angle.

Gacy climbed out from under the ring and stole the bell prior to an ad break.

Grace and Petrovic continued to set the women’s evolution back decades after the commercial. They pulled each other’s hair, then Grace used an eye rake that the referee missed and a fireman’s carry slam for the pin.

There was no bell.

Gacy rang the bell like a maniac from the audience. The crowd loved this.

This Gacy character is no bueno. This show dove off a cliff after Dragunov’s match.

NXT North American Championship number one contender’s four-way: Wes Lee defeated Bronson Reed, Johnny Gargano & Cameron Grimes

A fun main event with a ton of action. This was well laid-out with spots designed for everyone to have their own showcase moments. Reed was arguably the star of the match even in defeat.

The match began and they immediately went to a picture-in-picture commercial break.

Reed dominated with a delayed vertical suplex, a uranage, and more power offense. The other three teamed up to send Reed outside. Grimes got sent outside and Gargano & Lee shook hands before squaring up.

Reed climbed back in and all three again teamed up. Gargano hit Reed with a low blow and Reed again rolled to the floor. Grimes hit a double tijeras on Gargano & Lee. Lee hit a dive. Grimes hit a dive. Gargano hit three dives on all three of the competitors as the crowd chanted for Johnny Wrestling.

Lee hit meteoras on Grimes and Gargano. Reed cut Lee off as he went for a meteora and hit a DVD for a near fall on Lee. Grimes came off the top with a crossbody on Reed for a near fall.

Gargano went for a satelite DDT on Reed, but Reed blocked. Reed held Gargano in a powerslam position, then Grimes climbed on his back in Samoan drop position, then Lee climbed on Grimes and Reed hit all three with a Samoan drop for a near fall. The crowd went nuts for the triple Samoan drop spot.

The other three teamed up to powerbomb Reed off the second rope out of the corner. Reed rolled outside again as the other three traded strikes in the center of the ring. Lee and Grimes had some miscommunication on a spot. They tred it again and hit it.

Gargano used a submission on Grimes, but Lee broke it up. Reed hit a buckle bomb on Lee and sentons on Gargano and Grimes.

Reed hit a pop-up slam on Lee, throwing him into Grimes and Gargano.

Reed went to the top for Tsunami, but Ivar of the Viking Raiders ran in and attacked Reed. Those two fought off to the back.

Lee hit a crucifix bomb on Grimes for two. Gargano hit a superkick. Grimes hit Cave-In for a near fall on Gargano, then Lee hit Grimes with the Kardiac Kick for the pin.

Lee and Mysterio has a stare-down.

WWE NXT live results: Two championship matches

Two championship matches are set to air on tonight’s Thanksgiving week edition of WWE NXT.

In her first title defense, Lyra Valkyria puts the NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Xia Li. Valkyria claimed the title by defeating Becky Lynch at Halloween Havoc four weeks ago. Li is coming off a loss to Lynch on last night’s Raw.

Li confronted Valkyria earlier this month and has her sights set on winning NXT gold.

The Heritage Cup Championship will be defended tonight as main roster star Chad Gable challenges Noam Dar.

Two Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches are taking place tonight. Carmelo Hayes will look to secure his NXT Deadline spot as he faces off against Josh Briggs. Blair Davenport clashes with Thea Hail with a place in the women’s Iron Survivor Challenge on the line. This week’s competitors were selected by JBL.

Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo vs. Edris Enofe & Malik Blade has been announced for tonight as well, along with Eddy Thorpe vs. Charlie Dempsey.

There is notable post-production on this show, as Vic Joseph’s voiceovers are clearly different than the commentary recorded live with him and Booker T.

Ring introductions open the show, as champion and challenger are already in the ring.

Noam Dar (with Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson & Oro Mensah) vs. Chad Gable (with Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa & Otis) for the Heritage Cup Championship ends in a draw

Heritage Cup goes Broadway on NXT in a great opener. Dar and Gable tie 1-1 after six rounds, thus the match is ruled a draw. Dar retains in that case. Gable had Dar in an ankle lock as time expires in the sixth round, and Dar was tapping out as the bell rings. Still ruled a draw.

Some good wrestling in the first round, but no falls in round one. Good wrestling continues into the second round, except this time there is a fall. Not clean, though as Dar would go up by one fall after outside interference by Mensah.

Mensah kicks Gable in the head with under a minute remaining in round two. Dar then delivers his Nova Roller, and he covers Gable for a three count.

Much of the third round happens during a split-screen commercial break. Under 30 seconds in round three as the show returns from the break. They trade near falls after a superplex as the third round winds down.

Double down as both are on the mat selling, and their corners have to help them up between rounds.

Action intensifies in the fourth round. Some close near falls, and they even tease a count-out. They are trading strikes on their knees as the fourth round ends

Fifth round is all Gable, and he makes short work of Dar to even the score at one fall apiece. Rolling koppo kick by Gable, followed by a series of German suplexes. Gable bridges on a suplex, and Gable evens the score via pinfall.

Legend starts an argument with Dupri between rounds, which distracted Gable. With Gable’s attention diverted, Dar hammers Gable with a cheap shot.

Gable is rocked with 90 second left in the sixth round. They keep trading near falls as the clock continues to run. With 30 seconds remaining, Gable goes for a moonsault press, and Dar tries to keep his boots up to block the moonsault. Gable counters the counter, and he grabs Dar’s leg to apply an ankle lock.

Gable has the ankle locked in with seconds remaining. Time appears to run out on six round as Gable still applies the hold. Dar taps out as the bell is ringing to end the round. Time had run out, as the official decision is a draw.

Post-match angle that teases something between Otis and Legend. Otis catching Legend after she is slapped by Dupri. Legend sells it with disgust and she freaks out.

JBL announces his picks for the Iron Survivor qualifier, which takes place later tonight.

WWE has a cross-promotional with the Big 12 Conference for a tie-in at the Big 12 football championship game.

NXT Tag Team Champions The Family are welcomed by their family for a meal. They toast. To be continued…

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes seem to be on good terms again in a brief locker room skit.

Xia Li attacks NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria before their match even has its ring introductions. Li jumps Valkyria during the champ’s entrance. That delays the women’s title match, as viewers are to wonder if Valkyria is able to defend her title tonight.

Humberto Carillo & Angel Garza defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

This was supposed to be a standby match, but it is really a showcase for Carillo & Garza. They are getting a renewed push, yet it is still missing something. They could benefit with more character development, as their wrestling itself is great.

Josh Briggs defeated Carmelo Hayes in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match

Briggs pins Hayes, and Briggs qualifies for the Iron Survivor. Lexi King runs in at the finish to cause a distraction, leading to the pibfall.

Breakout moment for Briggs. He is given a pep talk before the match, but he does not need it. Briggs is a monster from the outset of the bout. He shows a ton of fire with a more aggressive style.

Just before a commercial break, Briggs is teases putting Hayes through the announce desk, but Hayes escapes. Hayes goes on to open hand slap Briggs, which enrages Briggs. In a fit of rage, Briggs bounces Hayes on the ropes to set up a lariat. Briggs then flings Hayes over the announce desk as the show cuts away to commercials.

Briggs is working over Hayes as the show returns from commercials. Hope spot dashed as Briggs is fired up again. Hayes eventually makes a comeback, amidst some great action.

Lexi King runs down in the closing moments, and King jumps on the apron. Hayes levels King with a kick, and King takes a bump off the apron. That moment of distraction allowed Briggs to capitalize. Hayes goes for a springboard, and Briggs wipes him out with a lariat. Briggs then climbs the turnbuckles and leaps off into a moonsault press. Briggs covers Hayes to win and advance to Deadline.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews NXT Women’s Champ Lyra Valkyria, who is holding an ice pack on her shoulder. Mitchell asks Valkyria if the title match for tonight is off. Valkyria rises to her feet and exclaims the bout is still on.

Von Wagner comes to Mr. Stone’s house for dinner. Wagner brought brownies, but he ate some on the way. Wagner says he wore his best tank top. Wagner bounds with Stone’s kids as Wagner eat dinner with the family. The kids stare at the scars on Wagner’s head, but they still become fast friends. This was supposed to be comedy I guess.

Wes Lee comes to the ring for a monologue, where he issues a challenge for another title shot against NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio. Out comes Dom to interrupt up, even with no “Mami” to accompany Dom.

Lee and Mysterio bicker back-and-forth for a little bit. Mysterio then tells Lee he is booked in a match next week against three former North American champs. If Lee beats all three former champs in matches, then Lee earns a title shot against Mysterio. Lee of course accepts the challenge and the stips.

Blair Davenport defeated Thea Hail (with Jacy Jayne) in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match

Hail did well with Jayne’s support, but Hail failed to capitalize when she was on a roll. Hail was briefly distracted by the Chase U student section and their lack of support. Jayne urges Hail to forget about them, but it was too late. Davenport delivers her knee strike finisher, and Davenport covers Hail for a pinfall. In winning, Davenport qualifies for the Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline.

A video package hypes the NXT Championship match at Deadline. The feature compares the two different lives and lifestyles of NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov and challenger Baron Corbin. The two meet in a title match at Deadline.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Charlie Dempsey (with Drew Gulak & Myles Borne)

The trend of good wrestling continues with this bout. This is such a wrestling-heavy show.

Thorpe scores a pinfall on Dempsey to win the match, but Thorpe is jumped by Gulak & Borne after the match. Dempsey, Gulak & Borne leave Thorpe laying after the match.

Humberto Carillo & Angel Garza jump The Family in another beatdown. Tony D’Angelo & Stacks are leaving their family dinner when they are attacked by Carillo & Garza. This seems to set up Garza & Carillo challenging for the tag titles at Deadline.

Arianna Grace is the focus of a vignette.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria defeated Xia Li to retain her title

“Stone Cold” Valkyria came back from a supposed injury to win the match and retain the championship.

Valkyria wrestled great for someone that was supposedly injured earlier in the show. She is a house of fire at the outset of the match, but Valkyria is soon cut off by Li.

Li works over Valkyria through a commercial break. Valkyria eventually makes a comeback, and she has Li in a fireman’s carry when Valkyria drops her into a Michinoku Driver. Valkyria then covers Li for a three count to retain her title.

WWE NXT live results: Chase U defend Tag Team titles

On NXT tonight, Chase U make their first Tag Team title defense.

Andre Chase & Duke Hudson won the NXT Tag Team titles from Tony D’Angelo & Stacks at NXT Halloween Havoc last month. Tonight, D’Angelo & Stacks get their rematch. The match comes after Chase U received a letter last week informing them that they’re under investigation.

The road to NXT Deadline continues tonight with two more Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying bouts. This week’s matches were selected by WWE legend Lita. Roxanne Perez faces Lash Legend, while Trick Williams takes on Joe Coffey.

Tiffany Stratton and Dijak have already qualified for the Iron Survivor Challenge matches at Deadline, which is taking place on December 9.

Also tonight, Wes Lee faces off against Baron Corbin. Both wrestlers are aiming to become the next challenger for NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria will take part in a Warriors Tea Ceremony with Xia Li tonight. Alpha Academy are also set to appear as Noam Dar’s guests on Supernova Sessions.

The opening video package spoofed an old news reel, while also spoofing the recent controversy with American football coach Jim Harbough. Reporters met Chase U on their way into the building, as Andre Chase appears to be under investigation.

Chase himself looked disheveled, while Duke Hudson was beaming with school pride. Jacy Jayne wore big sunglasses and a hood. She mostly looked down, as did Thea Hail. The Chase U student section among the studio audience also seemed bummed out. Some students would later walk out during the opening match.

Chase U has to defend the tag titles in tonight’s opener, but they all look as if they would rather be anywhere else.

The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) defeated NXT Tag Team Champions Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail) to win the titles

Tony D & Stacks recapture the tag titles in an entertaining match. It was far more about the story of the match, rather than the moves. Nevertheless, they still got plenty of high spots in as well.

Chase U were not fairing well from the start, and they were in more trouble as the show cuts to its first commercial break. Just before the break, Tony D hiptosses Stacks over the ropes into a flip dive on Chase & Hudson.

Hudson seemingly had to carry Chase U on his back in this mach. He struggled to make a tag. Hudson finally got close enough to make a tag, but Chase was too distracted with the students walking out on the match. Chase soon thereafter came in after a hot tag.

Chase ran wild briefly, but he was cut off. Meanwhile, the studio audience chants “walkout” during the bout. Hudson does a nifty slingshot German on Stacks. He goes for the same on Tony D, but that end up costing Hudson more.

Tony D trips up Hudson and rams him into the ring steps. Flying off the apron is Chase with a somersault senton to wipe out the Tony D. Chase is unable to capitalize, and The Family is able to execute the old Power & Glory (Paul Roma & Hercules) finisher on Chase for a near fall. Hudson is able to make a save by breaking the count.

Chase makes a comeback, and he sets for his version of the Garvin Stomp. Where he can complete that, he is distracted by more students walking out. Chase takes the Bada Bing Bada Boom finisher, and Stacks covers Chase for a three count. The Family has regained the tag straps.

It is Lita’s turn to book some matches this week for the Iron Survivor qualifiers. She does a cellphone video where she runs down her matchmaking picks. Lita books Roxanne Perez against Lash Legend. She also books Trick Williams and Joe Coffey in a match on the men’s side.

Meta-Four faced off with Alpha Academy in a Supernova Sessions talk show segment. Noam Darr is hosts Supernova Session alongside Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson and Oro Mensah. The Heritage Cup trophy is in a glass case with a chain criss-crossing it so no one can steal it again. That was silly, which fit the vibe, as this whole segment was beyond silly.

Silly or not, the talk show gimmick sets up a Heritage Cup Championship match for next week with Dar defending against Gable. To start the segment, out comes Alpha Academy — Chad Gable, Otis, Akira Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri. There is some silly banter and bickering, before Dar is goaded into accepting a challenge to put the Cup on the line.

They all play this so over the top. Dar then tries to cheap shot Gable, but Gable ducks. Gable then headbutts Dar, laying him out on a couch that was part of the set. Borrowing some phrasing from Jim Ross, this segment was goofy as a pet raccoon. Really, the whole show has been that way so far.

Meta-Four would hang around for the next match.

Lash Legend (with Noam Dar, Oro Mensah & Jakara Jackson) defeated Roxanne Perez in an Iron Survivor qualifying match

Legend pinned Perez, after a bunch of outside interference by Jakara Jackson and Kiana James. In winning, Legend qualifies for the Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline.

Jackson interfered at one point, and the referee ejects her and the rest of Meta-Four from ringside. Apparently, not for long, though. Legend works over Perez, until Perez eventually makes a comeback. Legend cuts her off again, but she is unable to capitalize.

Suddenly, Jackson appears again despite being ejected earlier on. She distracts the ref while Kiana James runs in to interfere. That costs Perez the match, allowing Legend to hit Perez with a high kick. Legend goes on to do a chokeslam/powerbomb pop-up combo, and she covers Perez for a pinfall.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria meets Xia Li for a tea ceremony. The wackiness continues on this show. I liken this to a modern day version of wacky sketch on Tuesday Night Titans. Regardless, the tea ceremony is apparently how Li’s ancestors challenged their rivals. This sets up a title match next Tuesday where Valkyria defends against Li.

McKenzie Mitchell is interviewing Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Mitchell is so good in her role. She is the new Mean Gene, maybe even better.

Mitchell asks them about the elephant in the room, referring to Williams punching Hayes last week. Williams claims the punch was not intentional, and Hayes acts like he is over it. Hayes does say he will be in Williams corner for his match, which is up next.

But before the next bout, Mitchell also interviews Bron Breakker. They are interrupted by Dijak. This seems to set a future match with Dijak opposing Breakker, which could quite possibly include them both being in the Iron Survivor.

Trick Williams (with Carmelo Hayes) defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match

Williams pinned Coffey. This was the first match so far that was not wacky. It was far more serious, and the worked. The studio audience seemed very into it. In winning, Williams qualifies for the Iron Survivor at Deadline.

Williams is over huge with the studio audience, and Williams looks strong as the match gets under way. Williams punches both Mark Coffey and Wolfgang at ringside, but that ends up backfiring on Williams. Joe Coffey is able to ambush Williams.

Williams is in trouble and in peril as the show cuts to a commercial break. Coffey works over Williams, and Coffey grounds Williams with holds. Comeback by Williams, but Gallus again interfere. This time around, Hayes comes to Williams’ aide as Hayes tries to trip up Wolfgang. In doing so, a low bridge is inadvertently created, and Williams goes crashing to the outside.

Hayes is seemingly trying to help Williams back into the ring when Coffey comes flying out through the ropes with a tope. Hayes steps away, leaving Williams to take the brunt of it. Coffey gets a near fall on Williams in the ring with a signature combo. Williams out of nowhere delivers a jumping knee strike, and Coffey is pinned for a three count.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov and Wes Lee met in a backstage skit. The wackiness returns. That did not take long, and neither did this skit.

The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland & Btuch) vs. OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima with Scrypts)

Butch pinned Nima to win the match. Thankfully, this was another match that was not silly. OTM looked better than ever. It helps to be in the there with some vets. This was arguably the best match so far in the short careers of Price & Nima. Brawling Brutes carried the match, and it was good.

Joe Gacy is still trying to find his purpose, and he cuts a promo about it. Gacy shows he is finally at the Performance Center, and he is on the roof. Not sure where this is going, but I can only hope for a monster truck tug-o-war on the roof like this is Halloween Havoc ’95.

Gigi Dolan defeated Arianna Grace

Dolan pinned Grace in match that seemed like filler. This match was set up with a locker room skit that featured some terrible acting.

Grace tries to cheat by putting her feet on the ropes during an attempted pinning combination. The ref caught her in the act, and she was admonished over it. Dolan then executes her finisher on Grace, and Dolan covers Grace for a pinfall.

A pretty good video package told the story of Von Wagner and Mr. Stone, from when they met as both were pictured together in a photograph from their signing day with WWE. After the video package, Mr. Stone invites Wagner to Thanksgiving dinner at Stone’s home. Wagner accepts the invite, but he wants them to hold the asparagus.

Eddy Thorpe is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when they are interrupted by Drew Gulak and company. Charlie Dempsey threatens to stretch Thorpe in a match. Those two tangle in a bout next week.

Andre Chase is being hounded by reporters when Jacy Jayne makes a save, and they speed away.

Baron Corbin defeated Wes Lee

Corbin pinned Lee in what was arguably the best match on the show. In some ways, the match did not fit the show as it was not wacky enough. It was mostly serious. Corbin is apparently headed into a title program.

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio agreed in a skit earlier in the show to have Corbin’s back. Mysterio involvement would then help Corbin win the match.

Mysterio basically took a bullet for Corbin when Lee leaped over the ropes with a flip dive. Lee then jumps Mysterio, only for Lee to nearly get counted out. Lee barely breaks the count as he rushes back into the ring, where Lee is caught in the clutches of Corbin. Lee takes the End of Days, and Corbin covers Lee for a pinfall.

Corbin pummels Lee after the bell, which brings out NXT Champ Ilja Dragunov to make a save. Corbin is able to thwart the champ, and Corbin poses over Dragunov with the title belt.

As Corbin is leaving, Dragunov would crawl over to grab a microphone. Dragunov then vows to defend the title against Corbin at Deadline.

WWE NXT live results: Lyra Valkyria returns

Lyra Valkyria returns to WWE NXT tonight for her first appearance as Women’s Champion.

At Halloween Havoc night one two weeks ago, Valkyria picked up the biggest victory of her career by defeating Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship. It was a historic match with two Irish women facing off for a WWE championship for the first time ever.

Lynch, whose NXT run has come to an end, has said that the future is in good hands with Valkyria as champion. We’ll see who emerges as Valkyria’s first challenger.

With NXT Deadline a month away, Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches begin tonight. Tiffany Stratton faces off against Fallon Henley in a women’s qualifier. Dijak clashes with Tyler Bate in a men’s qualifier.

A grudge match between Von Wagner and Bron Breakker is also set for the episode.

In tonight’s opening match, Akira Tozawa challenges Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup Championship. Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable & Otis will be appearing on NXT to support Tozawa in his Heritage Cup challenge.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Opening the show is a singles championship match.

Noam Dar (with Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) defeated Akira Tozawa (with Chad Gable, Otis & Maxxine Dupri) for the Heritage Cup Championship

Dar retained his Heritage Cup in a really good bout. In past Heritage Cup matches, there have been seconds in the corners. Tonight they each had an entourage. Meta-Four interfered during the finish.

First round ends with no falls. They did a superplex just before the bells rings to end the round. The entourages bicker with each other between falls. which would come to a head later in the bout.

Dar scores the first fall, after a schoolboy roll-up on Tozawa in the second round. Dar held the trunks, and he got an underhanded three count to go up by one fall. Dar then drops Tozawa with a cheap shot just before the show cuts to a commercial break.

Third round went the entire split-screen commercial break. Lots of action as time winds down on round three, but neither can capitalize. Round ends just as the break is over.

Round four begins after the show returns from the break. Tozawa does a big flip dive the outside that takes out Mensah at ringside. Dar posts Tozawa, but Dar then kicks the ring post when Tozawa ducks out of the way. Dar is selling his ankle as they roll back in the ring.

Tozawa evens the score, after submitting Dar in round four. Tozawa applies an ankle lock, and Dar taps out. Tozawa is on fire as round five begins, but he is soon cut off by Dar.

Tozawa thwarts interference by Mensah, but that serves as a distraction. The referee is distracted with Mensah, and the ref does not see Legend pull Dar out of harm’s way as Tozawa is going for a senton. Tozawa crashes and burns. Dar then delivers his shining wizard finisher, and Dar scores the deciding pinfall in the fifth round.

Mensah argues with Dupri after the match, and she slaps him. Gable then gives Mensah a German suplex, and Otis does a splash on Mensah.

The announcers, Vic Joseph and Booker T, plug tickets being on sale for NXT Deadline in Bridgeport, CT. Featured on that is show is a gimmick match called the Iron Survivor Challenge.

The announce team then throws to a clip of Mick Foley, who is a booking qualifying matches on tonight’s card. Foley’s picks include Tiffany Stratton facing Fallon Henley in the women’s qualifier, and a men’s qualifying matches with Tyler Bate against Dijak.

New NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria enters the sound stage for her first monologue since winning the title.  Pretty decent promo by Valkyria as she puts over the former champ (Becky Lynch), and Valkyria also compliments the live studio audience.

Xia Li, from the Raw roster, comes down to ringside through the crowd. Valkryia tells security to let Li into the ringside area. Xia Li attacked Becky Lynch last night on Raw, and the now Li is back in NXT to confront Valkyria.

Li warns Valkyria that she is here to take her title. A security geek tries to push Li back, and he eats a superkick from Li. He goes down like fallen timber. Valkyria and Li get face to face as the segment ends.

Tyler Bate cuts a promo ahead of his qualifying match later tonight against Dijak.

Alpha Academy is coming back to NXT next week as guest on Noam Dar’s Supernova Sessions. A backstage skit also sets up Drew Gulak against Otis for later on.

A referee coming out of Shawn Michaels’ office says Michaels instructed the ref to use his discretion in the match tonight with Von Wagner against Bron Breakker.

Ava is seen in the background going to Michael’s office as the referee is being interviewed.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Fallon Henley in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match

Stratton is the first to qualify, after pinning Henley in a pretty decent match.

Henley looked strong in the first half of the match. She stands tall before the show cuts to a commercial break. Henley worked over Stratton’s leg with a half crab, and Stratton would soon turn the tide and work over Henley’s leg.

Henley takes a wild bump after the the match, when Stratton dumps Henley out of the ring through the ropes. Henley takes a nasty bump on the floor. It got a “holy s**t” chant from the studio audience, but the bump was unnecessary. Geez, this is supposed to be a work.

After Henley takes that ugly bump, Stratton smacks Henley’s leg on the ring post. Stratton works the leg for a short time, until Henley makes a comeback.

Stratton goes for moonsault finisher, but no water in the pool. She rolls through, only to be rolled up Stratton for a near fall. Stratton then targets Henley’s injured leg with a chop block. Henley’s knee buckles, and Stratton executes her “Prettiest Moonsault Ever.” Stratton goes on to cover Henley for a pinfall.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews a returning Wes Lee. They are interrupted by Baron Corbin, who insults Lee. This sets up a match between Corbin and Lee.

Dijak cuts a promo ahead of his match tonight against Tyler Bate.

Bron Breakker defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone)

Breakker pinned Wagner to win the match, but Wagner powerbombs Breakker on the announce desk after the match is over.

Gorilla Monsoon would have likely referred to this as the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. Vinny V might call it a “hoss fight.” It was definitely a grudge match.

Breakker was the aggressor early on, and he applied a Steiner Recliner. Wagner escapes the hold, and Wagner hulks up.  Wagner with a spear for a near fall.

The fight spilled outside the ring. Wagner teases giving Breakker a powerbomb on the announce desk, but Breakker counters. Breakker sends Wagner crashing into the ring steps. Mr. Stone gets involved, and Breakker gives Wagner a low blow.

Breakker lifts Stone in a military press, but Wagner makes a save. Wagner is checking on Stone when Breakker delivers a spear to Wagner on the floor. Breakker does a second spear in the ring, and Breakker hooks a leg to cover Wagner for a three count.

After the match, Stone hits Breakker with a metal folding chair. Breakker stalks Stone and grabs him by the throat. Wagner steps in to again save Stone. Wagner then powerbombs Breakker through the announce desk. They play up Wagner doing it like it meant more than losing the match. Wagner and Stone hug after the table spot.

Carmelo Hayes denies attacking Trick Williams in the Tonya Harding incident from a few weeks ago.

Brawling Brutes — Ridge Holland & Butch — are featured in a vignette. This was part of a build to match against OTM next week on NXT.

Roxanne Perez & Kelani Jordan defeated Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez

This tag bout was set early in the show during a badly acted locker room skit. Arianna Grace comes out during her Miss NXT gimmick, and she wished both teams luck. She then watched the match from a chair set up in the aisle.

Perez carried the load for her team, but Jordan still did well for herself. Hot tag to Jordan, and she runs wild. Perez executes Pop Rocks on Lopez, and Perez takes out Vice with a tope suicida. Jordan botches her finisher at first, but ultimately she springboards into a split-legged moonsault. Jordan then scores a three count on Lopez.

Arianna Grace interrupts the post-match celebration by trying to take over the ring announcing duties. For her trouble, Grace is blindsided by Karmen Petrovic in a sneak attack. Petrovic shouts out Grace to shut up.

Not sure is Petrovic was supposed to be a babyface of a heel, but shutting up Grace is a babyface move in the context of this show.

Joe Gacy gives a creepy warning in a pre-taped promo. It was better than his cult leader stuff, but not by much. Regardless, Gacy has good delivery and plays his character well. He just needs a better character, so at least he is getting a makeover.

WWE Champion Ilja Dragunov cuts a promo on Baron Corbin, which is the next title program for better or worse.

Otis (with Chad Gable, Akira Tozawa & Maxxine Dupri) vs. Drew Gulak (with Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne)

Otis pinned Gulak after a powerbomb. Good TV match that looked much more like something on the main roster than NXT. This bout was set up with a backstage skit earlier in the show.

Kiana James and Tiffany Stratton brag on each other while burying everybody else, but they are very catty with each other.

Jacy Jayne intercepts a package from Tony D’s Family meant for Andre Chase. Jayne is caught by Chase snooping in the envelope. Jayne now knows something the rest of Chase U does not, but she keeps it a secret for now.

Dijak defeated Tyler Bate in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match

Dijak pinned Bate to become the first qualifier for the men’s Iron Survivor.

Good match. They played on the size difference at times, but that was not the story of the match. Back-and-forth action and they traded several near falls.

Bate eventually falls victim to a Feast Your Eyes. Bate was able to counter the first attempt at Dijak’s finisher. Moments later, Bate leaps off the ropes into the arms of Dijak. That set up the Feast Your Eyes, and Dijak covered Bate for a pinfall.

The main event segment is a face-to-face confrontation between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. They would be interrupted by Lexis King.

Before the interruption, Hayes starts by trying to plead his case. Williams rebuffed Hayes’ reasoning, as Williams relays he wants Hayes to be there for him like he was there for Hayes.

Hayes insists he had Williams’ back, but Williams asks Hayes where Hayes was when Williams needed him. Williams goes on to say he does not know who attacked him, but the first voice Williams heard afterwards was Hayes’ voice. Hayes ponders that, and asks again if Williams never say his attacker. They would then soon have an interruption.

Williams eventually flat out asks Hayes if Hayes was the unknown attacker. Hayes was just about to answer when Lexis King interrupts. King looked like a modern version of Van Hammer, which I assume is not the desired look. But maybe it is.

King barges into the ring and gets between Hayes and Williams. King hints that he might be the unknown attacker. King then goads Williams into an act of violence.

Williams goes to seemingly punch King, but Williams instead punches Hayes. After being decked by Williams, Hayes sells big.

Williams to offers Hayes a hand up, but Hayes at first slaps away Williams’ hand. After a second offer, Hayes accepts Williams’ help up. They embrace, but Hayes has an angry look on his face as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Halloween Havoc night two

Halloween Havoc 2023 concludes with an NXT Championship match taking place tonight.

On Halloween night, Ilja Dragunov puts his NXT Championship on the line against Carmelo Hayes. This is the third match in Dragunov and Hayes’ trilogy. They have a 1-1 record against each other entering tonight.

Hayes earned this title shot by defeating Baron Corbin and Dijak in a triple threat match. Trick Williams was supposed to be included in that match, but he got taken out in a backstage attack. Hayes has denied that he was responsible for the attack on his friend.

Dominik Mysterio vs. Nathan Frazer for the NXT North American title and Chelsea Green & Piper Niven vs. Thea Hail & Jacy Jayne for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles are also set.

The winner of the Women’s Breakout Tournament will be crowned as Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice clash in the finals.

Bron Breakker vs. Mr. Stone and Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley are part of tonight’s card as well. Plus, a Tables, Ladders & Scares match between The Creed Brothers and Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo opens the show.

Arriving to the building is the Ectomobile with sirens blaring and the Halloween Havoc logo plastered on the side. Out steps Shotzi and Scarlett dressed as Ghostbusters.

Opening the show is rock band New Years Day with a live performance of “Hurts Like Hell” mixed with a montage, which recapped night one of the Havoc special from last week.

The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) vs. Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo in a tables, ladders and chairs match

Brutus pinned Humberto after a wild spot fest fitting of the TLC moniker.

Did not take long for the tables, ladders and chairs to come into play. Juilus took a super press slam on a ladder bridge in a double team by the rudos. Garza & Humberto then did an avalanche Gory Bomb/cutter combo, and they put Brutus through tables set up at ringside just before the show cuts to its first commercial break.

When the show returns from the break, Julius Creed and Garza duel with chairs. Van Daminators galore for a moment. In another spoof from ECW, Brutus Creed did the Terry Funk ladder spot. Moments later, Brutus was being double-teamed on the floor when Julius came to his brother’s rescue with a flip dive over the ropes.

The Creeds go on to set up two tables side-by-side in the ring, and Humberto takes a version of the Doomsday Device where a Brutus Bomb puts Humberto through the tables. Garza also took a Nestea Plunge through a table at ringside. Brutus would pin Humberto for the pinfall, and the Creeds are victorious. Ivy Nile gets into the ring to celebrate with the Creeds.

Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn take over a Ouija board.

Joe Gacy is getting a reboot of his character. He is still brooding, but he apparently no longer runs a cult. He also has a nose ring.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley never starts

Stratton ambushed Henley during Henley’s entrance. Stratton rammed Henley’s knee into the ring post, and Stratton applied a Bret Hart ring post figure-four. This all happened before the bell ever started. Referees pour out to break up the bedlam. Henley sold big, and the match is no in question

Meta-Four are dressed like the characters from Scooby-Doo as they go through a haunted house looking for Noam Dar’s Heritage Cup trophy. They try to no-sell it, but they are frightened. This skit is to be continued later in the show.

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio (with WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley) defeated Nathan Frazier to retain the title

Mysterio pinned Frazier, but it was a rough night for Mysterio. Dom took some nasty bumps at times in this match. Wes Lee runs in after the match for a post-match beatdown on Dom.

Dirty Dom came dressed as a prisoner for Halloween, while Mami was dressed as a cop. Cute couples costumes. Dom was also wearing Perro Aguayo boots.

Frazier works circles around Dom at the outset, causing Dom to panic and powder. During a split-screen break, Dom is also turn the tide. Dom goes into a Three Amigo routine, and he pauses to taunt and showboat. That cost him, as Dom is then dropped on his head. In another awkward bump, Dom takes a botched slop drop after Frazier does a springboard. Dom takes an ugly bump.

Ripley interfered when she pushed Dom out of harm’s way as Frazier went for a tope. Frazier and Ripley face off, which distracts Frazier momentarily. Frazier turns around to eat a superkick. Frazier quickly comes back to connect on a tope. Frazier goes for a Phoenix Splash, but no water in the pool. Moments later, Frazier sets up a superplex, and he follows up with a twisting neckbreaker for a near fall.

Ripley tries to slide Dom a title belt to use as a weapon, but Dom misses it. The belt slides out of the ring, and Dom takes a two count on a schoolboy. Dom goes for a 619, but Frazier counters to land a superkick.

Double down and Frazier gets to his feet. He climbs the turnbuckles, but he is shoved off by Ripley. Dom capitalizes with a frog splash, and Dom covers Frazier for a pinfall.

Wes Lee runs in after the match, and Lee attacks Dom. Lee pummels Dom, and Dom flees the ring.

The Scooby-Doo skit continues with Meta-Four. Jakara Jackson faints. Oro Mensah is kidnapped after being jumped by Akira Tozawa. Lash Legend is also kidnapped by zombies. To be continued…

Bron Breakker defeated Mr. Stone

Breakker toys with Stone like a cat playing with a mouse. Stone gets pummeled and suplexed by Breakker, and Breakker spears Stone. Breakker covers Stone for an easy three count.

The match was over, but Breakker was not done. In a call back to the angle where Breakker injured Von Wagner, Breakker teasing doing the same to Stone. Breakker raises a section of the metal ring steps over his head, ready to smash Stone’s head.

Cue Wagner’s music, and out he comes with a Spirit of ’76 comeback. Wagner even had his head bandaged, but it looked more like a white bandanna on his head.

Wagner is a house of fire, and he plants Breakker on the ring steps. They tease Wagner smashing the steps on Breakker, much like Breakker did to Wagner previously. Breakker rolls away at the last moment, and security runs down to break up the melee. They hold Wagner back as Breakker leaves.

New NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria is the focus of a video package recapping her win over Becky Lynch. Great hype video that made Valkyria look like a superstar. She returns to NXT next week to address the audience.

Scrypts cuts a promo on behalf of OTM. They have a program with Ridge Holland and Butch.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Piper Niven vs. Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail (with NXT Tag Team Champions Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) to retain the titles

Green pinned Jayne, and the champs retain their titles. The bout starts with a brawl before the bell. Hail & Jayne clean house before the show cuts to a commercial break. The heel champions have turned the tide during the break, and Hail is getting worked over as the show returns from the break.

Hot tag and Jayne runs wild. Jayne gets a few near falls. Parade of high spots in the closing minutes. Double down after Jayne and Green hit each other with high kicks.

Jayne wanted to use a tag title belt as a weapon, but Chase takes the belt away from Jayne. Chase is telling Jayne she does not need to use the belt. Jayne is distracted, making her easy prey for an Unprettier from Green. Jayne is then pinned by Green, and the champs retain.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Lexis King, as King sets on a throne. King’s character is cocky and wants to make a name for himself. This interview did him no favors.

Lola Vice (with Elektra Lopez) defeated Kelani Jordan to win the NXT Women’s Breakout tournament

Vice pinned Jordan in the tournament final.

They must have practiced a lot, and it showed. Not too bad for what is essentially a developmental tournament. The story of the match heading into the finish is Jordan injured her knee.

To set up the finish, Jordan goes for a split-legged moonsault. Elektra Lopez causes a distraction at ringside, allowing Vice time to move out of the way on the moonsault. Jordan sells her injured knee, and Jordan then eats a roundhouse kick. Vice covers Jordan for a three count, and Vice wins the tournament.

The Meta-Four Scooby-Doo skit continues with Noam Dar dressed as Scoopy. He finds his stolen trophy, but Dar is surrounded by dark creatures of the night. Tozawa blackmails Dar into giving him a Heritage Cup match next week. Tozawa then lets the zombies have their way with Dar. What a wacky skit.

Von Wagner demands Mr. Stone get him booked in a match next week against Bron Breakker. The match is later made official for next week.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Carmelo Hayes to retain the title

Dragunov pinned Hayes in a hard-hitting match. This was proof that wrestling might be a work, but it is not fake. These two beat the crap out of each other in this return bout. An appearance by Trick Williams distracts Hayes at the finish.

Back-and-forth at the start, leading to a double down before a commercial break. The war wages when the show returns.

Dragunov takes a DDT on the apron, and he takes a wild bump. Hayes looks to capitalize with a frog splash, but Dragunov kicks out. Good near fall, as it played off the finish of another title belt earlier on.

They would go on to trade near falls, as well as trading strikes and high impact moves. Hayes goes for another DDT on the apron, but Dragunov counters the second time around. Dragunov then gives Hayes a Death Valley Driver on the apron.

Dragunov laid Hayes on the announce desk, and Dragunov jumps off the barricade. Dragunov puts Hayes through the desk with a H-bomb flying forearm smash.

Hayes fights back in the closing moments. Hayes executes a codebreaker, but Dragunov bounces off a rope and falls into another H-bomb smash. Hayes still manages to kick out. Dragunov climbs the turnbuckles, looking to deliver a flying H-bomb. Hayes again counters with a codebreaker. Hayes then climbs the ropes, when he is interrupted and distracted by the theme music of Trick Williams.

Williams glares at Hayes, and Hayes is in shock. Dragunov gives Hayes a superplex, and Dragunov delivers Torpedo Maskau. Dragunov would then covers Hayes for the deciding pinfall.

Williams gets into the ring and lifts Hayes off the mat by an arm. Williams has a mean look on his face as he stares a hole through Hayes. They are face-to-face when the show cuts to the backstage area. Baron Corbin has ambushed and laid out Dragunov. Corbin is holding the title belt and yelling at Dragunov as the show goes off the air.
