During their appearance on this week’s Raw, it was announced that Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update hosts will also be playing a role at WrestleMania 35.
SNL’s Michael Che and Colin Jost appeared in a backstage segment with Stephanie McMahon on tonight’s show. She announced that Che and Jost will be “special guest correspondents” for WrestleMania. Jost was booed for putting on a New York Mets hat in Philadelphia. He also made a joke about Philly on this weekend’s SNL.
Che and Jost then appeared in another backstage segment later on Raw. The story was Che telling Jost that he needs to take this seriously. Jost said he knows WWE and is up to date, mentioning The Bushwhackers, Koko B. Ware, Razor Ramon, and The Rock. Jost said they work in live TV and have already seen everything, which led to them running into EC3, Titus O’Neil, and No Way Jose.
WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.
It appears that WWE has officially taken the first steps towards Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair all being involved in the main event of WrestleMania 35.
An angle where Vince McMahon suspended Lynch for 60 days and announced that Charlotte would be taking her place at WrestleMania closed last Monday’s episode of Raw. Charlotte aligned with Vince and fully turned heel, with Vince calling her someone with charisma, someone with charm, and someone who knows their lane and stays in it.
Lynch then appeared at SmackDown’s house show on Saturday night and got involved in Charlotte’s match against Asuka. Charlotte attacked Lynch’s knee, which set up Lynch showing up on crutches at Elimination Chamber.
Rousey retained her Raw Women’s Championship against Ruby Riott in under two minutes at the pay-per-view. Charlotte was at ringside for the match and went face-to-face with Rousey after.
The storyline for the Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 35 took another turn tonight.
Becky Lynch was given another storyline suspension by Vince McMahon, with the 60-day suspension set to expire after WrestleMania 35. Vince then brought out Charlotte Flair and claimed that Charlotte would instead challenge for Ronda Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.
During his promo, Vince called Charlotte someone with charisma, someone with charm, and someone who knows their lane and stays in it. Vince raised Charlotte’s hand and said that’s what Rousey will be seeing when Charlotte defeats her.
Dave Meltzer has been reporting that Rousey vs. Lynch vs. Charlotte is the plan for WrestleMania.
There was a show-long angle on Raw where Stephanie McMahon and Triple H gave Lynch an ultimatum: she had to apologize for attacking them last week or lose her spot at WrestleMania. She apologized at the end of the episode, but she said “now that that nonsense is out of the way” after. Rousey came out to the ring before she and Lynch were interrupted by Vince.
Lynch and Charlotte both sent out in-character tweets after Raw. Lynch wrote: “Complete and utter bullsh*t.”
Charlotte tweeted: “I’m going to #WrestleMania… ISN’T THIS EXCITING?!?!”

On the night after their Royal Rumble wins, WWE made it clear which titles Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch will be challenging for at WrestleMania 35.
Rollins deciding whether he was going to challenge for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship or Daniel Bryan’s WWE Championship had been hyped as the main event segment of tonight’s Raw. Instead, Lesnar and Paul Heyman came out at the end of the show. Heyman cut a promo and said deciding to challenge for Bryan’s title should be the easiest choice of Rollins’ life.
Heyman said the last thing Rollins or anyone else on the planet wants to do is get in a fight with Lesnar. Rollins then came out and punched Lesnar after they went face-to-face. The angle ended with Lesnar hitting six F-5s on Rollins, with Rollins saying “Hey Lesnar, is that all you got?” before the final one.
Rollins also appeared at the start of tonight’s Raw. Triple H told him that he needed to make his decision tonight. They were interrupted by Dean Ambrose, which led to a match where Rollins defeated Ambrose.
Lynch made an appearance on Raw as well. She confronted Ronda Rousey and announced that she’s challenging for Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.
WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.
Becky Lynch is officially challenging for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 35.
After winning this year’s women’s Royal Rumble, Lynch made an appearance on Raw tonight, confronted Ronda Rousey, and announced that she’s challenging for Rousey’s title at WrestleMania. Rousey had issued an open challenge on Raw that was answered by Bayley, with Rousey defeating Bayley to retain her title.
Lynch was cheered heavily and Rousey was booed. Lynch said she dropped Rousey in the ring the last time she came to Raw, but Rousey didn’t come looking for her after that. Lynch said she’s come looking for Rousey to prove that Rousey isn’t the baddest woman on the planet.
Lynch said she’s going to break Rousey’s mystique, take her title, and kick her ass in front of the whole world. Rousey responded by saying she has the ability to kill Lynch with her bare hands without breaking a sweat. Lynch smiled at Rousey while she cut her promo.
Rousey brought up her UFC credentials and said she’s been a household name for the past decade. Rousey said that — while Lynch was on the pre-show — Rousey stole the show in her debut at last year’s WrestleMania.
Whether or not Charlotte Flair will be added to Rousey vs. Lynch wasn’t addressed on Raw.
Rousey vs. Lynch was originally set for Survivor Series 2018, but Lynch was forced out of the match after being injured by a strike from Nia Jax on the Monday before the pay-per-view. Charlotte took Lynch’s place and got herself disqualified against Rousey. She then continued to attack Rousey in a post-match angle.
WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.
WWE has switched up a couple of dates on its schedule for WrestleMania week 2019.
The company issued a statement today confirming that NXT TakeOver: New York will now be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 and the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2019: “WWE will be going back to its previous WrestleMania Week schedule with NXT TakeOver on Friday, April 5 and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, April 6. We believe this better serves our fans.”
The change first became known when WWE sent out emails about it today to those who have purchased WrestleMania travel packages. Individual tickets for TakeOver and the Hall of Fame ceremony have yet to go on sale.
Both TakeOver: New York and the Hall of Fame ceremony will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The post-WrestleMania episodes of Raw and SmackDown will also take place at the Barclays Center in the days after MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey hosts WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
The change means that the Hall of Fame ceremony (instead of TakeOver) will be going head-to-head with ROH and NJPW’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
The WrestleMania 35 on-sale party that had been scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this Thursday has been canceled due to expected inclement weather.
The event was set to be free to attend and was supposed to feature three matches and appearances by members of the WWE roster. Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins vs. The Singh Brothers, Matt Riddle vs. Kassius Ohno, and Rhea Ripley vs. Kacy Catanzaro were the scheduled matches. Sami Zayn, Paige, Apollo Crews, Alicia Fox, Mojo Rawley, Jimmy Hart, and Big Show had been announced as appearing.
The pre-sale for WrestleMania 35 tickets began today (with “DOTCOM” and other various codes working). The official on-sale date for the general public is this Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
MetLife Stadium will host WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019. The stadium was also home to WrestleMania 29 in 2013.
The landscape for next year’s WrestleMania weekend is starting to take shape after today’s announcements.
WrestleMania 35 tickets will be open to the general public starting on Friday, November 16 at 10 a.m. ET.. Individual tickets start at $35 and go all the way up to $2,500 (minus service charges). However, for those who are interested in travel packages, those tickets will be on sale starting on November 5 at noon ET at WrestleManiaTravel.com.
As for Axxess, WWE has switched things up this year. Axxess now starts on Friday and runs through Monday, with no Thursday sessions. This would give other promotions an ample opportunity to run unopposed against WWE scheduled events. The current location for next year’s Axxess show has yet to be announced.
Tickets for Joey Janela’s Spring Break went on sale today and sold out instantly. This will be the third year in a row that Joey Janela and Game Changer Wrestling have ran a show during WrestleMania weekend. Before tickets went on sale, it was announced that Atsushi Onita would be coming in.
Hulk Hogan said in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel this week that he is “looking forward” to working with WWE in the future.
“There are a lot of plans in the works,” Hogan said. “I’m looking forward to going to Saudi Arabia with the WWE, looking forward to WrestleMania — but yeah, we’re moving forward at a rapid pace. It’s exciting to have this opportunity again after all these years where I was there and gone.”
Hogan resurfaced in WWE back in July, holding a backstage meeting with the locker room at Extreme Rules where he talked about his situation. WWE announced at the time that he had been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame after being removed and fired from the company in 2015 after using racist language in leaked audio. WWE noted then that Hogan wasn’t under contract, and he has not been brought in for any appearances on television.
After confirming the news last night, WWE held a press conference at MetLife Stadium this morning to officially reveal the New York/New Jersey area as the location for WrestleMania 35 and the company’s events surrounding the show.
Stephanie McMahon, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Ronda Rousey, John Cena, John Saboor (WWE’s executive vice president of special events), Sheila Oliver (the lieutenant governor of New Jersey), and Brett Yormark (the CEO of Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment) spoke this morning, and The New Day opened and closed the press conference.
WWE called WrestleMania 35 a return home, revealed the logo for the event, and touted that Rousey will be wrestling at the show.
April 7th, 2019 is the official date for WrestleMania 35 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will be hosting next year’s Hall of Fame ceremony, the WrestleMania weekend NXT TakeOver special, and the post-Mania episodes of Raw and SmackDown.

While the location has been all but official for the last few months, WWE will be announcing tomorrow that WrestleMania 35 is coming to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Dave Meltzer confirmed in January that WrestleMania 35 would be taking place at MetLife Stadium on April 7th, 2019. Like with New Orleans this year, it’s a fairly quick return to the New York/New Jersey area for WWE after WrestleMania 29 was held at MetLife in 2013.
WWE’s events surrounding WrestleMania 35 (the Hall of Fame ceremony, NXT TakeOver, Raw, and SmackDown) will be taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
