WWE adds stipulation to Triple H vs. Batista at WrestleMania 35

WWE has added another stipulation to Triple H and Batista’s no holds barred match at WrestleMania 35.

A segment on tonight’s Raw set up that Triple H’s career will be on the line when he faces Batista at WrestleMania.

Batista didn’t appear on Raw, but there was an angle where Triple H read a letter from Batista’s lawyer. It said Batista wouldn’t compete at WrestleMania unless Triple H agreed to put his career on the line. Triple H agreed to the stipulation and accused Batista of trying to quit again with the letter. Triple H said he isn’t going to let Batista quit this time.

The build to Triple H vs. Batista officially began when Batista attacked Ric Flair and ruined Flair’s 70th birthday celebration segment on the February 25 episode of Raw. WrestleMania will be the first time Batista has wrestled since June 2014.

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey will host WrestleMania on April 7.

Intercontinental title match added to WWE WrestleMania 35

The Intercontinental Championship will officially be on the line at WrestleMania 35.

On this week’s Raw, it was confirmed that Finn Balor will challenge for Bobby Lashley’s Intercontinental title at WrestleMania. Balor defeated Lashley & Jinder Mahal in a handicap match to get the title shot.

Balor pinned Mahal after hitting the Coup de Grace. Lashley attacked Mahal and The Singh Brothers after the match.

Balor vs. Lashley & Lio Rush had originally been announced for Raw, but Rush cut a promo saying he wasn’t cleared to compete after being laid out by Braun Strowman in last week’s Lashley & Rush vs. Strowman & Balor tag match.

Lashley won the Intercontinental title from Balor on the March 11 episode of Raw. Rush distracting Balor led to the finish of the match. Before that, Balor won the title from Lashley by pinning Rush in a handicap match at Elimination Chamber in February.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.

Rousey vs. Lynch vs. Charlotte to main event WWE WrestleMania 35

Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair is officially being promoted as the main event of WrestleMania 35.

WWE issued a press release today announcing that Rousey, Lynch, and Charlotte’s triple threat match for the Raw Women’s Championship will be the first-ever women’s main event of WrestleMania. The press release was also posted in an article on WWE.com.

Rousey made her in-ring debut at last year’s WrestleMania and has held the Raw Women’s title since August. Lynch was the winner of this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match, though there was a storyline where her title shot was taken away before the triple threat became official for WrestleMania when Rousey caused Lynch to defeat Charlotte by disqualification in their match at Fastlane.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7. Here’s what’s been announced for the show thus far:

  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match
  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Seth Rollins
  • Triple H vs. Batista in a no holds barred match
  • AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
  • United States Champion Samoa Joe defending against Rey Mysterio
  • Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin (Angle’s farewell match)
  • Shane McMahon vs. The Miz

  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy defending against Tony Nese

Asuka’s WM challenger to be decided on next week’s WWE SmackDown

Asuka didn’t make an appearance on this week’s SmackDown, but WWE has announced how her challenger for WrestleMania will be determined.

WWE uploaded a post-show video where Kayla Braxton interviewed Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Rose vs. Deville vs. Naomi vs. Carmella in a fatal four-way match was announced for next week’s SmackDown, with the winner challenging for Asuka’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 35.

Asuka retained her title by defeating Rose at Fastlane earlier this month. The finish of the match was Asuka hitting a kick and pinning Rose after Rose slipped on a kendo stick that Deville put on the ring apron. Asuka then defeated Deville on last week’s SmackDown. This time, the finish was Rose trying to interfere but causing Deville to slip.

Asuka has been SmackDown Women’s Champion since defeating Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a tables, ladders, and chairs match at December’s TLC pay-per-view.

Next week’s SmackDown is taking place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Cruiserweight title match official for WWE WrestleMania 35

With Tony Nese winning 205 Live’s number one contender’s tournament, the Cruiserweight Championship match for WrestleMania 35 is now official.

Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy will defend his title against Nese at WrestleMania in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7. Nese defeated Cedric Alexander in the finals of the number one contender’s tournament on tonight’s 205 Live, with Nese kicking out of the Lumbar Check and hitting the Running Nese to win.

Nese and Alexander shook hands after the match.

Murphy and Nese have been aligned on 205 Live, but Murphy attacked Nese in an angle to close this week’s episode. Murphy raised Nese’s arm — but then hit him with a knee strike. Murphy stood over Nese and held up the Cruiserweight title.

Here’s the updated card for WrestleMania:

  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match
  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Seth Rollins
  • Triple H vs. Batista in a no holds barred match

United States title match added to WWE WrestleMania 35

A United States Championship match has been confirmed for WrestleMania 35.

During tonight’s SmackDown, it was announced that Rey Mysterio will challenge for Samoa Joe’s United States title at WrestleMania. Mysterio pinned Joe in a tag team match on SmackDown last week to set up him getting the title shot.

Mysterio did a backstage interview on SmackDown tonight and announced his match against Joe for WrestleMania. Mysterio’s son Dominic, who has trained to be a professional wrestler with Lance Storm, also appeared in the segment. Dominic called Joe a bully and said he’ll be sitting front row for Joe vs. Mysterio at WrestleMania.

Joe won the U.S. title on the March 5 episode of SmackDown, defeating Andrade, R-Truth, and Mysterio in a fatal four-way match. R-Truth held the title prior to Joe winning it.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7. Here’s the updated card:

  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy defending against the winner of a number one contender’s tournament (Cedric Alexander is facing Tony Nese in the finals on tonight’s 205 Live)

Braun Strowman set for WWE Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

The first entrant has been announced for this year’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Braun Strowman did a backstage interview with Charly Caruso on tonight’s Raw and announced that he’ll be in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35, which is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.

WWE has also been building up issues between Strowman and Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che & Colin Jost leading into WrestleMania. Che and Jost are WWE’s “special guest correspondents” for WrestleMania.

Strowman & Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley & Lio Rush on this week’s Raw.

Strowman teamed with 10-year-old Nicholas Cone to win the Raw Tag Team titles from Cesaro & Sheamus at WrestleMania 34 last year.

This will be the sixth Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in WWE history. Cesaro, Big Show, Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, and Matt Hardy won the match over its first five years. Strowman was an entrant in the battle royal at WrestleMania 33.

Elias performance announced for WWE WrestleMania 35

For the second straight year, there will be an Elias performance segment at WrestleMania.

Elias appeared on A Moment of Bliss on tonight’s Raw, and it was announced that he’ll be the “headlining musical act” at WrestleMania 35. The show is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.

No Way Jose’s conga line (which was led by Heavy Machinery) came out during Moment of Bliss. Jose was disguised and attacked Elias, which led to Elias then defeating him in a match.

Elias interrupted John Cena at WrestleMania 34 last year, with the lights going out and it being teased that it was The Undertaker. Elias performed an anti-Cena song, Cena laid out Elias with the Attitude Adjustment, and Undertaker then defeated Cena.

Bliss has been announced as the host of WrestleMania 35. Michael Che and Colin Jost, the hosts of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, will be the “special guest correspondents.”

Kurt Angle to face Baron Corbin in farewell match at WrestleMania 35

Kurt Angle has an opponent for his farewell match.

On tonight’s episode of Raw, it was announced that Angle will face Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35. Angle got to pick his opponent in storyline and said that, while there are a lot of people he wants to face, Corbin is the only person he wants to beat.

As part of his farewell tour, Angle defeated Chad Gable on tonight’s Raw. Corbin came out after and cut a promo about how he’s going to dominate his match against Angle at WrestleMania.

Angle announced on last week’s Raw that he’ll be having his final match at WrestleMania. His program with Corbin dates back months, with Corbin replacing Angle as Raw’s on-screen authority figure before the McMahons took over the role.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7. Here’s the updated card:

  • Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defending against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match
  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Seth Rollins
  • Triple H vs. Batista in a no holds barred match
  • AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
  • Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin (Angle’s farewell match)
  • Shane McMahon vs. The Miz
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy defending against the winner of a number one contender’s tournament (Cedric Alexander is facing Tony Nese in the finals on this week’s 205 Live)

AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton official for WWE WrestleMania 35

After it was all but confirmed on SmackDown, AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton has been made official for WrestleMania 35.

Styles and Orton’s promo segment on Tuesday’s SmackDown ended with Styles issuing a challenge to Orton for WrestleMania. The story for the segment was Orton taking exception to Styles calling SmackDown the house that Styles built. Orton compared his accomplishments in WWE to Styles wrestling on the indies/outside of WWE, even name-dropping Dixie Carter at one point.

There was an angle at Fastlane where Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm on Orton. Their feud had been building for a couple of weeks prior to that.

Orton will be in a gauntlet match on next week’s SmackDown, which Kofi Kingston has to win to get a shot at Daniel Bryan’s WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Samoa Joe, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Rowan will be Kingston’s other opponents in the match.

  • Kurt Angle’s farewell match (opponent has yet to be announced)
  • AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
  • Shane McMahon vs. The Miz
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy defending against the winner of a number one contender’s tournament (Cedric Alexander is facing Tony Nese in the finals on next week’s 205 Live)

Shane McMahon vs. The Miz set for WWE WrestleMania 35

After their tag team dissolved at Fastlane, Shane McMahon opened this week’s SmackDown with a challenge to The Miz to face him at WrestleMania 35.

McMahon cut a promo that cemented his heel turn, which began at Sunday’s pay-per-view with an attack on Miz in Miz’s hometown of Cleveland. He stated that Miz’s father has a “baked potato face,” and promised to beat Miz down again on the grandest stage of them all.

McMahon further established his new heel persona, reminding Miz that he works for him, and forcing ring announcer Greg Hamilton to repeatedly introduce him as “The Best in the World.”

McMahon delivered his interview next to the WWE World Cup trophy, which he won at Crown Jewel in November.

It appeared as though the cup was going to be the impetus for a McMahon turn soon after he won it, but that point has not been emphasized in recent months. Instead, McMahon and Miz formed a babyface tag team, with the cup serving as something of a comedy prop.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. New Jersey on April 7.

Kurt Angle to have farewell match at WWE WrestleMania 35

Kurt Angle is set to have his farewell match at WrestleMania 35.

Angle came out during Raw tonight and said at WrestleMania, he would have his farewell match. He thanked the locker room and the fans for their support. He also said that he wanted to have one more match in Pittsburgh. He got that wish, as he defeated Apollo Crews in a short match after the announcement.

Angle first joined the WWE in 1999 after winning the gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. After spending some time in Power Pro Wrestling, he made his debut later that year on the main roster. Within a year he became a main event level star, winning six different WWE World titles between 2000 and 2006.

After a lengthy run in Impact Wrestling (where he won their World title six times), Angle made his return to WWE in 2017, entering their Hall of Fame. He also returned as a on-air character as the general manager for Raw. Once that storyline ended, he appeared sporadically as an active wrestler.

HHH vs. Batista no holds barred match set for WWE WrestleMania 35

Triple H and Batista are officially set to face off in a stipulation match at WrestleMania 35.

As expected, tonight’s face-to-face segment on Raw led to Triple H vs. Batista being confirmed for WrestleMania. A no holds barred stipulation was also announced for the match.

Batista came out with a security team and wouldn’t enter the ring with Triple H. They went back and forth as Batista told Triple H to give him what he wants. Batista wanted to face Triple H at WrestleMania — and Triple H said the match is on.

Batista said all he’s ever wanted is one last match to end his career on his terms — and to end Triple H’s career on his terms. Triple H responded by announcing the no holds barred stipulation.

After an interaction between them at SmackDown 1000 this past October, Triple H vs. Batista was made apparent for WrestleMania when Batista attacked Ric Flair during an angle on the February 25 episode of Raw. Batista ruined Flair’s 70th birthday celebration segment and asked if he had Triple H’s attention now.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.

Alexa Bliss to host WWE WrestleMania 35

Alexa Bliss will be the host of WrestleMania 35.

It was hyped on Raw that Bliss would announce the host for this year’s WrestleMania. When the time came, she hyped up the announcement with a video. The video eventually revealed that in fact she would be the one with the ceremonial duties.

Other notable names that have hosted WrestleMania in the past include Kim Kardashian, Hulk Hogan, The Rock and The New Day.

Meanwhile, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che will be the special guest correspondents for WrestleMania 35. They kicked off an angle with Braun Strowman last week where Jost ran into Strowman, asking if what WWE does was real. Strowman pinned Jost against a wall and had to be talked into letting him go.

This week on Raw, Jost gave Strowman a car, along with an insincere note apologizing for last week. Strowman ended up destroying the car.

Becky Lynch added to Raw Women’s title match at WrestleMania 35

Becky Lynch is officially going to WrestleMania.

Lynch defeated Charlotte by DQ tonight when Ronda Rousey came in and broke up a figure four attempt by Charlotte by stomping on Lynch’s chest. Per the stipulations, Lynch had to win the match in order to get into the WrestleMania title match. Once the ref called for the bell, Rousey simply left and walked toward the aisle, pointing at the WrestleMania sign. The triple threat match was then made official by the announcers.

Lynch won the right to challenge the Raw women’s champion, Ronda Rousey, when she won the Royal Rumble in January. However, after she confronted the McMahons and refused to get her injured knee looked at (which led to an apology that Stephanie and Triple H accepted) Vince McMahon came out and handed Lynch a 60-day suspension that would run through WrestleMania. He then introduced Rousey’s new opponent, Charlotte.

Eventually, Stephanie McMahon cancelled the suspension and agreed to put Lynch in the WrestleMania match, but only if she could defeat Charlotte at Fastlane and sign a hold harmless agreement, as in storyline she had reinjured her knee.
