WWE announces ‘special guest correspondents’ for WrestleMania

During their appearance on this week’s Raw, it was announced that Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update hosts will also be playing a role at WrestleMania 35.

SNL’s Michael Che and Colin Jost appeared in a backstage segment with Stephanie McMahon on tonight’s show. She announced that Che and Jost will be “special guest correspondents” for WrestleMania. Jost was booed for putting on a New York Mets hat in Philadelphia. He also made a joke about Philly on this weekend’s SNL.

Che and Jost then appeared in another backstage segment later on Raw. The story was Che telling Jost that he needs to take this seriously. Jost said he knows WWE and is up to date, mentioning The Bushwhackers, Koko B. Ware, Razor Ramon, and The Rock. Jost said they work in live TV and have already seen everything, which led to them running into EC3, Titus O’Neil, and No Way Jose.

WrestleMania 35 is taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7.

SNL Weekend Update hosts to appear on WWE Raw

Two members of the Saturday Night Live cast will be appearing on tomorrow’s episode of Raw.

WWE announced today that SNL’s Michael Che and Colin Jost will be “special guests” on Monday’s Raw. The episode is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Che and Jost are the current hosts of the Weekend Update news segment on SNL.

Tomorrow’s Raw is the go-home show for Fastlane. WWE will follow up on Roman Reigns returning and announcing that his leukemia is in remission. Reigns’ match for Fastlane is expected to be made official on tomorrow’s episode.

Raw will also feature the fallout from last week’s show-closing angle where Batista attacked Ric Flair and asked if he has Triple H’s attention now.

WWE has yet to confirm any matches for tomorrow’s Raw, but Charlotte Flair appearing has been announced. The storyline is that Charlotte wants to be crowned champion after Ronda Rousey left the Raw Women’s Championship in the ring last week. Rousey demanded that Vince McMahon adds Becky Lynch to the Raw Women’s title match at WrestleMania and makes it Rousey vs. Charlotte vs. Lynch.

The Rock to join Saturday Night Live’s Five-Timers Club

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was announced today as the host of NBC’s Saturday Night Live for the fifth time on May 20th.

Johnson will join the “Five-Timers Club,” a list of elite level celebrities that the show itself first started promoting in 1990.

The club list at this point that Johnson will join consists of Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin, Drew Barrymore, Candice Bergen, Chevy Chase, Danny DeVito, Tina Fey, John Goodman, Elliott Gould, Tom Hanks, Buck Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Paul Simon, Justin Timberlake, and Christopher Walken.

Also noted is that the show itself is changing next month where it will air live nationwide. The West Coast since the inception of the show has gotten a feed to air at 11:30 p.m. local time after the news. However, SNL will move to 8:30 p.m. on the West Coast five weeks before Johnson hosts the show.

The episode that Johnson is hosting will be the season finale.
