NJPW World Tag League 2025 finals set

The finals of NJPW World Tag League 2025 are now set with Yota Tsuji & Gabe Kidd advancing over the IWGP Tag Team Champions.

It will be Tsuji & Kidd vs. Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa this Sunday (December 14) to determine the winners of World Tag League 2025. That was confirmed this morning with Tsuji & Kidd defeating OSKAR & Yuto-Ice to earn their spot in the finals.

There has been dissension between Tsuji & Kidd throughout the tournament due to them being a makeshift team of singles wrestlers, but they vowed to get onto the same page heading into the finals. After Tsuji took out Yuto-Ice, they used their double-team War Blaster finisher on OSKAR to get the win after a 20-minute match.

A face-to-face between Tsuji & Kidd and Sabre & Oiwa then took place at the end of today’s show, with Kidd telling Sabre that he’s surpassed him as the best English wrestler in NJPW. The confrontation broke up without any physicality. Tsuji & Kidd then cut a promo to close the night.

Both Tsuji & Kidd and Sabre & Oiwa finished in second place of their respective block but managed to defeat the other block’s champion in the semifinals. No matter which team prevails on Sunday, it will be their first time winning Tag League. Kidd was in the 2024 finals — but he and SANADA lost to Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi.

The winning team will earn bragging rights, the World Tag League 2025 trophy, and the right to challenge OSKAR & Yuto-Ice for the IWGP Tag Team titles.

First team advances to NJPW World Tag League 2025 finals

Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa are heading to the finals of NJPW World Tag League 2025.

The tournament semifinals began today with TMDK defeating Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) to earn their spot in Sunday’s finals. They’ll be facing either OSKAR & Yuto Ice or Yota Tsuji & Gabe Kidd to determine the Tag League champions.

Sabre & Oiwa finished second in B Block but were able to defeat the A Block champions in the semifinals. At the end of a 24-minute match, Oiwa connected with a Chaos Theory suplex on Goto. Sabre then followed up with a pin on Goto for the win.

Backstage after their victory, Oiwa spoke about wanting to claim his first trophy in NJPW. Sabre said they’re ready to defeat whichever team they face in the finals.

OSKAR & Yuto-Ice and Tsuji & Kidd had a confrontation on today’s show ahead of their semifinal match taking place this Friday. Tsuji & Kidd, who have had dissension despite a successful run in the tournament, agreed to stop bickering and get on the same page.

The Tag League finals are happening in Kumamoto on December 14. Along with bragging rights, the match will determine challengers for the IWGP Tag Team titles (if champions OSKAR & Yuto-Ice do not win).

First two teams advance to NJPW World Tag League 2025 semifinals

The A Block representatives in the World Tag League 2025 semifinals were determined on Monday with Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHi and Yota Tsuji & Gabe Kidd advancing out of block action.

Entering the last night of A Block matches, there was a logjam at the top of the standings with four teams tied with eight points. Goto & YOSHI-HASHI and Tsuji & Kidd emerged as the only teams to reach the 10-point mark. Because they defeated Tsuji & Kidd earlier in the tournament, Goto & YOSHI-HASHI earned first place in the block while Tsuji & Kidd are the second-place finishers.

Here are the quick results from today:

  • A Block: Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI defeated Shingo Takagi & Drilla Moloney

The winning team will be in line to challenge for the IWGP Tag Team titles, which are currently held by OSKAR & Yuto-Ice.

NJPW World Tag League 2025 night 10 results, updated standings

NJPW’s 2025 World Tag League continued on Wednesday with a show in Shizuoka.

After five rounds in B Block, four teams have 3-2 records, and the other four have 2-3 records.

ELP and Hiroshi Tanahashi (2-3) picked up their second win in the first tournament match of the show, defeating Monster Sauce (2-3). The finish saw Tanahashi give Lance Archer a High Fly Flow on the outside while ELP hit Alex Zayne with the CR2 in the ring for the pin. Archer got on the mic and said thank you to Tanahashi after the match.

Callum Newman and Great-O-Khan (3-2) fought off House of Torture interference to defeat SANADA and Ren Narita (3-2) in the second tournament match. SANADA went to hit Newman with a guitar but was countered. Moments later, Khan hit SANADA with the guitar, landed his Eliminator claw slam, and got the pin.

After dropping their first two in the tournament, The Knockouts Brothers (3-2) have won three straight. They defeated Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa (2-3). The finish saw Oiwa unable to get OSKAR up for a Doctor Bomb, and moments later The Knockouts Brothers hit their tombstone piledriver–penalty kick combo, KOB for the win.

Yuya Uemura and Shota Umino (3-2) beat David Finlay and Hiromu Takahashi (2-3) in the main event. Finlay continued to involuntarily slam Takahashi onto their opponents a couple of times during the match, but otherwise they seemed to work together well today. The finish saw Finlay suplexed to the floor, allowing Umino and Uemura to double-team Takahashi, eventually leading to Umino hitting Second Chapter for the win. Walker Stewart noted on commentary that he believes the loss will “further the divide” between Takahashi and Finlay.

Umino cut a promo after the main event, but translations weren’t immediately available.

NJPW World Tag League 2024 finals set

An unexpected three-way tie had to be sorted out on the last day of B Block action, but the 2024 World Tag League finals are now set.

Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi are heading to the Tag League finals as the B Block representatives. It will be Naito & Hiromu vs. Gabe Kidd & SANADA this Sunday (December 8) to determine the tournament winners.

An injury to HENARE shook up NJPW’s plans for the last day of B Block matches, forcing Great-O-Khan & HENARE to withdraw from the tournament. They were scheduled to face Naito & Hiromu in a match that likely would have decided which team advanced to the finals. Instead, Naito & Hiromu won by forfeit and worked a non-tournament match today. Toru Yano & Oleg Boltin and EVIL & Ren Narita both won their matches later in the show, leading to a tie at the top of the block with three teams having 5-2 records and 10 points.

There was no clear tiebreaker advantage for any of the teams, so an immediate play-in match took place. Naito & Hiromu defeated Yano & Boltin and EVIL & Narita to advance.

The Tag League winners are set to be in line for an IWGP Tag Team title shot, but the status of those belts is in question right now. Great-O-Khan said today that he and HENARE will likely have to vacate the titles due to HENARE’s knee injury, and their scheduled defense against The Young Bucks at Wrestle Dynasty also likely will not happen.

First team advances to NJPW World Tag League finals

One half of the NJPW World Tag League 2024 finals has been sorted out.

Gabe Kidd & SANADA emerged as the A Block winners on Thursday with a victory over Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI, who were looking to win the tournament for a fourth consecutive year. Instead, Kidd & SANADA are heading to the finals for the first time as a team. SANADA is a two-time Tag League winner in 2017-2018 when EVIL was his partner.

Kidd & SANADA ended A Block action with a 5-2 record and 10 points. That was good for sole possession of first place at the top of the block.

The B Block winners will be determined on Friday with the finals then taking place this Sunday (December 8). Entering the last day of B Block matches, Great-O-Khan & HENARE, Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi, and Toru Yano & Oleg Boltin are still alive with a chance to win. O-Khan & HENARE vs. Naito & Hiromu is happening on Friday and will likely decide the block winners, though Yano & Boltin could still force a three-way tie if they win their match against Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls and Naito & Hiromu defeat O-Khan & HENARE.

O-Khan & Henare are the current IWGP Tag Team Champions. The Tag League winners — if it’s not them — will be in line for a shot at the belts.

They need to win their match against Haste & Nicholls and have Naito & Hiromu defeat Great-O-Khan & Henare.

A Block will be decided with its last night taking place this Thursday. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI, Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji, and Gabe Kidd & SANADA are still in contention to win the block.
