New GHC Heavyweight Champion crowned at NOAH Spring Mayhem Ryogoku 2026

Shane Haste is the new GHC Heavyweight Champion.

Haste defeated Yoshiki Inamura to win the title on Saturday at NOAH Spring Mayhem at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

The finish of the match saw Inamura miss a splash from the top, Haste hit two running knees, suplex, big lariat, and finally his Bomb Valley Death for the win.

After the match, Haste said he wants to defend the title against KENTA, who was translating Haste’s comments to the live crowd at the time. Both KENTA and Haste are members of the White Raven Sqwad faction.

Haste said:

“I want to put this GHC title on the line and defend it against KENTA! You want a match with me? I want to beat you holding this title like you did to me all those years ago.”

KENTA successfully defended the GHC Heavyweight title against Haste on September 7, 2013, at NOAH Shiny Navigation.

Haste later said backstage:

“The dream has become a reality. Right now, this is a dream I’ve had ever since I started watching PRO WRESTLING NOAH. It’s been maybe 15 years since I’ve held a singles title. I’ve only ever held one singles title before this and it was for EPW. THIS is the most important title to me in the world. This proves that I am the guy. I am THE MAN. Thank you everyone who supported me when I didn’t even support myself.”

“And now, it’s on to the next dream, and that is getting retribution on KENTA for when he beat me all those years ago. But now I’m the champion. Rematch: Haste vs KENTA II. Arigato gozaimasu.”

According to NOAH’s website, 4,539 people attended today’s show. The full results are available below.

Challenger with ‘WWE experience’ revealed for Yoshiki Inamura’s GHC title

A challenger with WWE experience has been revealed for Yoshiki Inamura.

For the past month, a storyline has been building in Pro Wrestling NOAH that Inamura would soon face a challenger with a background from WWE. Inamura, who went on excursion to NXT from November 2024 to mid-2025, has been confronted by KENTA and Yoshi Tatsu, with Tatsu claiming to be in contact with Triple H.

Inamura successfully defended his GHC Heavyweight Championship against Alpha Wolf at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Apex Conquest 2026 show in Nagoya, Japan on April 12. After the match, former NXT wrestler Shane Haste was revealed as the next challenger for Inamura on May 2.

“I am Shane Haste! I am KENTA-san’s friend. I have WWE experience, have PRO WRESTLING NOAH experience. I’ve come back to win that belt,” Haste said.

Inamura responded, “Shane-san, I of course know that you have WWE experience and are a legendary foreign talent in NOAH. I was your fan. So next, May 2 at Ryogoku Kokugikan. On that grand stage, I want to fight you with this belt on the line. I would love to fight you for this belt.”

NOAH posted footage of Haste challenging Inamura to social media below:

  • PCO told Straight Talk Wrestling that he feels like he’ll end up appearing for WWE as part of the working relationship that now exists between WWE and TNA:
    • I think the day you see that (me back in WWE), I think the roof will go off the building. That would be pretty amazing. I guess, yeah. I guess. I’ve got a strong feeling it’s gonna happen. I don’t know why. Just, I’ve always been very super close to guessing a little bit. I don’t know how things are gonna happen, I never know how. Like when I decided to stay with TNA, I was not supposed to stay and I had that conversation with Scott (D’Amore) before he got fired and I don’t know, for whatever reason, he convinced me to stay and he had planned for Montreal and after the month that it was supposed to be on didn’t happen and then, it came back and the way it’s happening now, it’s like, okay, now I know why I’ve been with TNA for the last two years and now everything was aligned with this. The (Canadian) International Heavyweight title on the line too (at Slammiversary) with the great lineage and the Digital Media title and all that on the line. It’s so much on the line and in front of my people.

Zack Sabre Jr. signed for tag team match at Impact x NJPW Multiverse United 2

NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. will be part of this month’s co-promoted Impact x NJPW Multiverse United pay-per-view.

Sabre Jr. will team with TMDK stablemate Shane Haste to take on Impact’s Moose & Eddie Edwards in tag team action on Sunday, August 20th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This will be Sabre Jr.’s first appearance in an Impact ring while Haste will make his first appearance since a short run this past February and March when he appeared in four matches, three of those with TMDK’s Bad Dude Tito.

Moose and Edwards have both feuded and teamed during their extensive runs in the company.

Only three matches have been announced, but former Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo called out the Stardom roster this week to appear at the show which is assumed to be leading to a match.

Here’s the current card:

  • Impact World Champion Alex Shelley defends against Hiroshi Tanahashi
  • Impact X-Division Champion Lio Rush & Trey Miguel vs. Hiromu Takahashi & Mike Bailey
  • NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. & Shane Haste vs. Moose & Eddie Edwards

Mike Bailey vs. Shane Haste part of Impact Wrestling lineup

Impact Wrestling’s first episode since Friday’s No Surrender event will air on Thursday.

Three matches have been announced for this week’s show and one for Before The Impact.

Shane Haste will make his promotional in-ring debut when he faces “Speedball” Mike Bailey in singles competition. Bailey is looking to rebound after suffering a loss to Jonathan Gresham on The Countdown to No Surrender.

PCO vs. Trey Miguel will also air on Thursday. Miguel is coming off a win over Crazzy Steve in a Monster’s Ball match that aired last week. PCO was entered into the #1 Contenders four-way match at No Surrender that was won by Steve Maclin.

Kenny King vs. Kevin Knight is set for this week’s episode as well. King is coming off a loss to Rich Swann from the February 16 episode. Knight picked up a win against Jack Price on last week’s edition of Before the Impact.

Heath & Rhino are set for action on Before the Impact this week. They will take on Decay’s Taurus and Delirious in tag team competition.

Nick Miller released from WWE

Nick Miller of The Mighty has been released from WWE developmental.

WWE hasn’t officially announced the release, but Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens has reported that he has been cut. Dave Meltzer has also confirmed his release.

This comes after people pointed out on social media that the profiles of both he and NXT UK’s Tucker were removed from WWE.com. There is no word on the status of Tucker. Taishan Dong is also reported as being gone from the promotion, though that took place some time back.

Pro Wrestling Sheet noted that it wasn’t clear if Miller requested to be released, but a source told them he was looking to go back home for personal reasons. Dave Meltzer is reporting that Miller returned to Australia when his child was born and decided to stay. The door isn’t shut on him returning at some point if he chooses to.

Shane Thorne, Miller’s tag team partner, is still under WWE contract.

Before signing with the WWE, Miller and Thorne were known as Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste of The Mighty Don’t Kneel (TMDK for short). They are best known for their run in Pro Wrestling NOAH from 2011 to 2016 where they won the GHC tag team titles on two occasions.

They signed with WWE in 2016 and were first given a run in NXT under the name TM-61, as babyfaces. After Thorne returned from an injury that kept him out for most of 2017, they feuded with the Street Profits, Heavy Machinery and The War Raiders. They eventually turned heel and were renamed The Mighty.

Their last appearance as a team were at the NXT television tapings that were held on November 28, losing to the team of Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan. That match aired just this past week on NXT.
