Eight-man tag team match with CMLL stars announced for AEW Rampage

After making their presence felt on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, four of CMLL’s top stars will compete in an eight-man tag team match as part of this Friday’s AEW Rampage.

Mistico, Volador Jr, Mascara Dorada & Hechicero will take on Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Matt Sydal & Christopher Daniels.

Initially seated at ringside, the CMLL wrestlers attacked Jon Moxley after his win over Jeff Hardy to open Dynamite, beating down the former AEW World Champion in a four-on-one attack before their eventual Friday opponents ran down to help out.

Hechicero is scheduled to face Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club teammate Bryan Danielson on Saturday’s Collision while a trios match between the BCC and CMLL wrestlers will take place next Wednesday.

Friday’s show will also feature AEW Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill in non-title action against Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds & John Silver. Starks & Bill will defend against Sting & Darby Allin on next Wednesday’s Dynamite.

In singles action, Willow Nightingale will take on Queen Aminata, who has been a frequent competitor on both AEW and ROH TV as of late. Aminata is 0-15 all-time in AEW while Nightingale is 3-1 in her last four.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy and Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta) will also be on hand to share some thoughts.

The new additions join the previously announced Private Party vs. Top Flight rematch.

Sting & Darby Allin to challenge for Tag Team titles on February 7 AEW Dynamite

As his career winds down, Sting will get an opportunity to challenge for the AEW Tag Team titles.

He and Darby Allin will face current champions Big Bill & Ricky Starks on the Wednesday, February 7th edition of AEW Dynamite in Phoenix, Arizona.

In a promo on Wednesday’s show, Allin pointed out how they were undefeated as a team in AEW which he felt put them in line for a title shot. Allin asked him, “You still got it?” Sting then replied, “I’m all in.”

In a segment later on the show, Bill and Starks accepted the challenge and the match date was confirmed later in the show.

Sting will be looking for his first AEW title of any kind while Allin is a former two-time TNT titleholder. Sting hasn’t lost in any match he’s been part of since making his debut in March 2021.

Starks & Bill have successfully defended their titles three times since winning them from FTR in October 2023.

Sting’s final match will come at March’s Revolution pay-per-view in Greensboro, North Carolina, as he teams with Allin to take on the Young Bucks.

Street fight for AEW Tag Team titles announced for Battle of the Belts IX

The AEW Tag Team titles will be up for grabs next Saturday.

Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara will get their AEW Tag Team title match next Saturday at Battle of the Belts IX, which will air immediately after Collision on TNT. The match was made on Saturday’s Collision, with Big Bill issuing the challenge.

The Young Bucks originally earned an AEW Tag Team title match back at WrestleDream in October. The following month, they lost the opportunity to Jericho & Kenny Omega at Full Gear. The two were set to get their Tag Team title match at Worlds End last month, but shortly before the event Omega was put out of action indefinitely with diverticulitis.

Sammy Guevara returned shortly after, disassociating himself with Don Callis and reuniting with Jericho, reforming Le Sex Gods. Jericho offered Guevara the Tag Team title opportunity, and the two went on with Darby Allin & Sting to win an eight-man tag team match at Worlds End, defeating Bill, Starks, Konosuke Takeshita, and Will Hobbs.

The lineup for next Saturday’s Battle of the Belts IX:

  • Street Fight for AEW Tag Team titles: Big Bill & Ricky Starks defend against Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara

Tag Team title match official for AEW Worlds End

Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho will challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Worlds End on December 30.

As announced during this week’s Dynamite, Omega & Jericho of The Golden Jets will challenge Ricky Starks & Big Bill for the AEW Tag Team titles at the Worlds End pay-per-view set for Saturday, December 30.

Video was played of the backstage attack angle from post-Full Gear where Starks and Bill laid out Jericho. Jericho and Omega then called out Starks and Bill and issued the challenge for Worlds End, which Starks was quick to accept.

In the back-and-forth promo segment on Dynamite, Jericho compared Starks to Enzo Amore, and suggested comedy tag team names for Starks & Bill, while Starks brought up defeating Jericho twice earlier this year.

In addition to the Tag Team title match, an AEW World title defense, plus the finals of the Continental Classic are also set for Worlds End.

The current lineup:

AEW Worlds End, Saturday, December 30, on pay-per-view —

  • AEW World Champion MJF defends against Samoa Joe
  • AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill defend against The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega)
  • Continental Classic finals

Tag Team & TBS title matches set for AEW Full Gear

Following Saturday’s edition of Collision, two multi-person title matches are now official for next Saturday’s AEW Full Gear.

AEW Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill will put their titles on the line in a four-way match featuring former champions FTR in addition to House of Black’s Malakai Black & Brody King, and LFI’s Rush & Preston Vance.

This will be FTR’s first shot at the titles since losing them to Starks and Bill recently. Both the House of Black and LFI will be looking for their first AEW Tag Team titles.

The other title match will see TBS Champion Kris Statlander against past title challenger Julia Hart and the winner of this Wednesday’s Dynamite match between Red Velvet and Skye Blue.

Hart defeated Willow Nightingale on Collision to earn her slot in the newly-announced title bout. Statlander will be looking for the 15th defense of the gold she won at May’s Double or Nothing. Hart, Velvet and Blue are all still looking for their first AEW title of any kind.
