Ruby Soho advances in AEW Owen Hart Foundation Women’s tournament

Ruby Soho has advanced in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s tournament.

Soho defeated Riho in a quarterfinal match on tonight’s Rampage. The finish of the match had Soho dominate Riho, hitting a backdrop driver, a strike, and then the bladerunner to score the win.

With the win, Soho now advances to the semifinals of the tournament, where she will meet the winner of a Kris Statlander/Red Velvet tournament match set for next week’s Rampage. Originally, Hikaru Shida was set to face Red Velvet. However, it was announced on Rampage that AEW doctors have not medically cleared Shida and is out of the tournament as a result.

The start of the tournament began on this week’s Dynamite, where Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter to advance. She will face the winner of a Britt Baker vs. mystery ‘joker’ opponent match that will take place on next week’s Dynamite. 

The finals will be held at AEW Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on May 29.

AEW reveals Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament bracket

The bracket for the AEW Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament has been revealed.

During Friday’s AEW Rampage episode, the field of eight and the first round matches were unveiled. 

On one half of the bracket, Toni Storm will face Jamie Hayter. That match is set for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. a Joker mystery opponent is also set for the first round, although no date has been announced for that bout. 

On the other side of the bracket, Riho will face Ruby Soho. That match is set for next week’s AEW Rampage. Hikaru Shida vs. Red Velvet is the other first round match, but no date has been set for that contest.

Riho qualifies for AEW Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament

Riho defeated Yuka Sakazaki to qualify for the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament on this week’s AEW Rampage episode. 

In her first match in nearly four months, Riho defeated Sakazaki to qualify, setting up a first round matchup against Ruby Soho. That match will take place on next week’s AEW Rampage episode. 

AEW commentator Excalibur said during Friday’s Rampage broadcast that Riho had been out of action with a shoulder injury suffered in a match with Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. at Battle of the Belts in January. 

The full bracket for the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament was revealed on Rampage. Toni Storm will face Jamie Hayter in the first quarterfinal matchup on Dynamite on Wednesday. Riho vs. Soho will take place on next week’s Rampage. Red Velvet vs. Hikaru Shida, plus Baker vs. a Joker mystery opponent are the remaining first round matchups. No date was announced for Baker vs. Joker or Shida vs. Velvet.

Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter Owen Hart Tournament match set for AEW Dynamite

A new match and a new segment have been announced for the May 11 AEW Dynamite episode. 

In an Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament first round match, Toni Storm will face Jamie Hayter. The two were announced as first round opponents weeks ago, but the date for the match had not been announced. 

Also set for Wednesday, the Jericho Appreciation Society will have a victory speech. Jericho remains in a storyline with Eddie Kingston, who spoke to Jericho via phone on Friday’s Rampage episode, vowing revenge for Jericho throwing a fireball at him. 

Wednesday’s Dynamite will be held on Long Island, New York at the UBS Arena.

Ruby Soho qualifies for AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament

Ruby Soho has qualified for the upcoming Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

On tonight’s Rampage, Soho defeated Robyn Renegade to qualify. Towards the end of the match, Robyn’s twin sister Charlette replaced her as Soho was distracted. Soho hit the no future on Charlette, which sent her back to under the ring. Robyn re-entered the ring attempted a roll-up during the confusion, but Soho kicked out and planted Robyn with a downward spiral for the win.

Soho’s win tonight marks the fifth person who has qualified to advance in the upcoming tournament. Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, and Red Velvet have all qualified. Storm and Hayter, who have exchanged some back and forth in recent weeks in backstage promos, will meet in the quarterfinals.

The sixth entrant will be determined on this Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite. Britt Baker in her first appearance after losing the AEW Women’s World Championship to Thunder Rosa will face Danielle Kamela in a tournament qualifier.

The tournament will begin next month, with a winner being crowned at AEW Double or Nothing on May 29th.

AEW announces Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter Owen Hart Tournament match

AEW has announced the first Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament first round bout. 

Toni Storm will face Jamie Hayter in the first round of the Owen. No date was announced for the match, which was set up in a backstage promo segment on this week’s Dynamite. 

Following up on their backstage interaction on last week’s Dynamite, Storm and Hayter had another face-to-face on this week’s show, where it was revealed that the two will face each other in the first round. 

Storm defeated The Bunny in a qualifying match in her AEW debut on the March 30 Dynamite, while Hayter defeated Skye Blue to qualify for the tournament on the April 1 Rampage, taped on March 30. 

The bracket for the tournament has yet to be revealed. Qualifying matches for the Women’s Tournament continue on Friday’s Rampage, as Ruby Soho takes on Robyn Renegade. In another qualifier on next week’s Dynamite, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. will face Danielle Kamela.

Blackpool Combat Club, Owen Hart Cup qualifier set for AEW Rampage

A trios match featuring Blackpool Combat Club, and a Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament qualifier have been added to this week’s AEW Rampage.

In a match announced in a backstage promo on this week’s Dynamite, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and Wheeler Yuta of the Blackpool Combat Club will team against Gunn Club’s Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn. 

Also announced, Ruby Soho will face Robyn Renegade in a qualifying match for the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. 

Already set for Friday’s show, “Hangman” Adam Page will defend the AEW World Championship against Adam Cole in a Texas death match. 

Friday’s Rampage airs at 7 p.m. Eastern time on TNT due to the network’s coverage of the NBA playoffs.

Red Velvet qualifies for AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament

A fourth entrant is now confirmed for the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

On Friday’s AEW Rampage, Red Velvet defeated Willow Nightingale in a qualifying match to join Jamie Hayter, Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida in the eight-woman tourney.

It was a competitive bout between Velvet and Nightingale as the latter nearly pulled off the win several times with a big spinebuster/pounce combo and a rolling cannonball that got a near fall each.

Velvet ended things with a spinning kick to a grounded Nightingale for the win.

Shida qualified on Wednesday by defeating Julia Hart, Hayter earned her spot by beating Skye Blue while Storm defeated The Bunny in her AEW debut.

On the men’s side, Samoa Joe became the first qualifier last Wednesday with his debut win over Max Caster.

The women’s and men’s tournaments don’t have an official start date, but they do have an official end date: Double or Nothing on Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas.

Hikaru Shida vs. Julia Hart Owen Hart Cup qualifier set for AEW Dynamite

Another qualifying match for the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament has been announced for this week’s AEW Dynamite. 

Hikaru Shida will face Julia Hart in the qualifier, deciding the third entrant in the women’s bracket. 

Toni Storm became the first entrant in the Women’s Tournament on last week’s Dynamite in her AEW debut, defeating The Bunny. Jamie Hayter then defeated Skye Blue on last week’s Rampage to become the second person to qualify. 

Shida has wrestled just twice for AEW so far this year, losing to Serena Deeb on Dynamite in January, then defeating Madi Wrenkowski on Dark: Elevation last month.

Five matches are now official for the Wednesday, April 6 Dynamite. The show will air live from Agganis Arena in Boston.

Toni Storm signs with AEW, qualifies for Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament

Toni Storm has signed with AEW and is the first to qualify for the Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament.

Storm made her debut on tonight’s Dynamite, defeating The Bunny with the Storm Zero. After the match, Excalibur said that Storm was the first to qualify for the tournament, which begins in May, with the finals taking place at Double or Nothing on May 29.

AEW later confirmed on social media that Storm had signed with the company.

Storm previously signed with the WWE in 2017 and had spent nearly four years in NXT and NXT UK, winning the NXT UK Women’s Championship on one occasion. She was called up to the SmackDown roster in July of last year but was used sparingly until she began feuding with Charlotte Flair in November. She lost a SmackDown Women’s Championship match on the edition of SmackDown that aired on Christmas week. A week later, Storm requested and was granted a release from WWE.

The Owen Hart Foundation men’s tournament qualifiers will begin on next week’s Dynamite, with women’s qualifiers continuing. Another qualifier between Skye Blue and Jamie Hayter was announced for this Friday’s Rampage.
