Ilja Dragunov grants Baron Corbin NXT title match at Deadline

The end of NXT saw Ilja Dragunov give Baron Corbin an NXT Championship match at Deadline.

On Tuesday’s show, Baron Corbin defeated Wes Lee in a singles match thanks to a distraction from Dominik Mysterio. After the match, Dragunov came to the ring and charged at Corbin. However, Corbin laid out Dragunov with the end of days. As Corbin started to make his exit, Dragunov recovered and challenged Corbin to a match at Deadline on December 9 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. On commentary, announcer Vic Joseph said that NXT officials would need to confirm the match.

After Dragunov defeated Carmelo Hayes on the second night of Halloween Havoc to retain the NXT Championship, he was laid out by Corbin as he was heading backstage.

The only matches confirmed for Deadline are the two Iron Survivor Challenge matches. On Tuesday’s show, Trick Williams and Lash Legend qualified for the men’s and women’s tournaments respectively. Last week, Tiffany Stratton and Dijak became the first to qualify.

WWE NXT notes: Next week’s lineup, Halloween Havoc, more

Here are NXT notes regarding Halloween Havoc, the Women’s Breakout Tournament, and next week’s lineup.

Next week’s show will feature a three-way match to determine the NXT Championship match for Halloween Havoc, which takes place October 24 and 31. Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, and Dijak will meet after special guest GM Cody Rhodes made the match on Tuesday. A Badda Bing Badda Boom Battle Royal will also take place, with 10 teams entering. The final two teams will then start a regular tag team match, with the winners advancing to face NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Stacks at Halloween Havoc.

Participants in the battle royal include Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne, Edris Enofe & Malik Blade, Humberto & Angel, The Creed Brothers, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Bronco Nima & Lucien Price, Gallus, Chase U, and Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey.

Another match for next week will have Tegan Nox take on Lyra Valkyria after the two exchanged words on Tuesday.

It was also announced that main roster stars Shotzi and Scarlett will host this year’s Halloween Havoc event. Shotzi, who appeared on Tuesday’s show to do guest commentary for the Roxanne Perez vs. Asuka match, mentioned that the two will be hosting night one on October 24.

Tuesday’s show saw Lola Vice advance in the Women’s Breakout Tournament, defeating Dani Palmer. She will now move on to the semifinals, where she will face the winner of a match between Karmen Petrovic and Jaida Parker.

Here is the updated lineup for next week’s NXT:

  • Winner gets NXT Championship match at Halloween Havoc: Carmelo Hayes vs. Dijak vs. Baron Corbin
  • Badda Bing Badda Boom Battle Royal for NXT Tag Team title match at Halloween Havoc
  • Tegan Nox vs. Lyra Valkyria

Bron Breakker vs. Jinder Mahal set for next week’s WWE NXT

A NXT Championship match is set for next Tuesday.

Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship against Jinder Mahal after a segment between the two took place on Tuesday’s NXT. Mahal confronted Breakker, saying that he wanted a title match, pointing out that there were people in the crowd who were not fans of his. Breakker accepted the challenge, saying people can say whatever they want.

Jacy Jayne will face off against Indi Hartwell. After Jayne cut a promo explaining why she had turned on Gigi Dolin last week, Hartwell was interviewed. She said that Jayne thinking that she should be at the front of the line in the NXT women’s division is wrong, challenging her to a match.

Ilja Dragunov and Trick Williams will meet after the two had an altercation on Tuesday’s show. As Dragunov was interviewed backstage about his confrontation with JD McDonagh last week, Williams was in the ring running down Dragunov. This brought Dragunov to the ring. However, a distraction by McDonagh allowed Williams to jump Dragunov from behind.

Here is the rundown so far for next week’s NXT:

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Jinder Mahal
  • Jacy Jayne vs. Indi Hartwell
  • Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams

Von Wagner has been granted a title shot against Bron Breakker on the November 15 edition of WWE NXT. Wagner attacked the champion in the closing moments of last week’s show.

Grayson Waller announced the match in a video posted to social media on Sunday. He also revealed that both Breakker and Wagner are set to be guests on the Grayson Waller Effect on Tuesday’s show.

“I’ve come to learn that Bron Breakker, the little dog himself, will be defending the NXT Championship against big Von Wagner,” Waller says. “Since Grayson Waller always has his finger on the pulse, I’ve organized it, I’ve already gone and made sure that come Tuesday, this Tuesday live on NXT on the USA Network, the Grayson Waller Effect is back and my guests are non-other than the champion Bron Breakker and the challenger Von Wagner.”

Triple threat NXT Championship match set for Halloween Havoc

A triple threat match for the NXT Championship has been added to October 22’s Halloween Havoc.

Tuesday’s NXT opened with both Ilja Dragunov and JD McDonagh laying claim to being the next contender for the NXT Championship. Bron Breakker came out and addressed both men. McDonagh suggested that Breakker and Dragunov face each other, with the winner facing him. Breakker rejected that suggestion and instead called for a triple threat match at Halloween Havoc, which was eventually confirmed.

Dragunov made his return to NXT last week, confronting McDonagh after he won a number one contendership match, defeating Tyler Bate. Dragunov on NXT tonight said he never lost the NXT UK Championship as he had to vacate it earlier in the summer due to injury.

Here is the lineup so far for Halloween Havoc:

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. JD McDonagh
  • Ladder match for NXT North American Championship: Carmelo Hayes vs. Oro Mensah vs. Wes Lee vs. two other participants

Bron Breakker defeats Tyler Bate, crowned unified champion at NXT Worlds Collide

Bron Breakker has unified the NXT and NXT UK Championships.

Breakker defeated Tyler Bate in the main event of NXT Worlds Collide on Sunday. The victory was his seventh title defense in his second reign with the NXT title and his first time winning the NXT UK belt.

Bate’s second reign with the NXT UK title began after he defeated his former tag team partner, Trent Seven, in the finals of a tournament held on July 7, 2022.

Bate was also the inaugural holder of the NXT UK belt. He defeated Pete Dunne in the finals of the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament in 2017 and held the title for 125 days before dropping it to Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Chicago on May 20, 2017.

Breakker becomes the fifth and possibly final wrestler to win the NXT UK title. He joins Bate, Dunne, WALTER/Gunther, and Ilja Dragunov as the only champions in the belt’s lineage.

Bron Breakker vs. Tyler Bate title unification match set for WWE NXT Worlds Collide

WWE will unify the NXT and NXT UK Championships on September 4 at Worlds Collide.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker will face NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate in a title unification match at Worlds Collide on Sunday, September 4. The match was announced during Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode.

Bate appeared on NXT 2.0 last week, confronting Breakker in a face-to-face segment to close the show. On this week’s NXT, Breakker opened the show by calling out Bate.

Breakker challenged Bate to a “title-for-title” match at Worlds Collide, and Bate accepted. The match was made official later in Tuesday’s program.

The unification match comes on the heels of WWE announcing that NXT UK is being shuttered, with a new NXT Europe brand launching in its place in 2023. Additionally, a number of NXT UK wrestlers were released from their WWE contracts last week, as NXT UK will “end in its current form and serve as the foundation for a bigger, better NXT Europe,” according to a WWE statement.

Worlds Collide is set for Sunday, September 4 at 4 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock and WWE Network, the same day as AEW’s All Out pay-per-view.

Bron Breakker vs. Cameron Grimes title match set for WWE NXT Great American Bash

Bron Breakker’s next challenger for the NXT Championship has been announced.

Cameron Grimes issued a challenge to Breakker for the July 5 NXT Great American Bash during this week’s NXT episode. Breakker accepted the challenge, and the match is set.

The title bout was set up in a pair of segments on NXT this week. Breakker gave Grimes an encouraging word in a backstage skit, telling Grimes that he will be a champion again someday after his North American title loss. Grimes said that he was not looking for sympathy from anyone.

Later, following Breakker’s successful title defense against Duke Hudson, Grimes made his way to the ring. He insinuated that Breakker had been fast-tracked due to his family name as the son of Rick Steiner, that everyone knows who Bron’s dad is, but no one will remember Grimes’ late father’s name. Grimes then made the challenge, with Breakker accepting.

The title match is the only bout announced to this point for the Great American Bash.

WWE NXT Great American Bash, Tuesday, July 5, 8 p.m. Eastern time —

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Cameron Grimes

Bron Breakker vs. Joe Gacy title match set for WWE NXT In Your House

Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship against Joe Gacy at WWE NXT In Your House on Saturday, June 4 in a match where Breakker can lose the title via disqualification.

The match was announced during this week’s NXT 2.0 episode as Breakker responded to Gacy’s invitation to join his movement. Breakker declined Gacy’s offer, but accepted Gacy’s challenge to a title match at In Your House. Gacy then proposed the stipulation, which Breakker also agreed to.

Breakker will be in action against Duke Hudson in a non-title match on next week’s NXT episode.

Three matches are now set for In Your House. Here is the lineup so far:

WWE NXT In Your House, Saturday, June 4, 8 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock & WWE Network —

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Joe Gacy – Breakker can lose the title via DQ
  • NXT North American Championship: Cameron Grimes (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • NXT Tag Team Championship: Pretty Deadly (c) vs. The Creed Brothers

Two title matches set for WWE NXT Spring Breakin’

Two title matches are set for the Tuesday, May 3 Spring Breakin’ episode of WWE NXT.

Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship against Joe Gacy at Spring Breakin’ in a match made official on this week’s episode.

Following up on an angle from the April 5 NXT where Gacy and Harland captured Breakker’s father, WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner and stole his Hall of Fame ring, Gacy taunted Breakker and dared him to find him in the arena on this week’s show. Gacy evaded Breakker until the show-closing angle, where he offered Breakker Steiner’s ring in exchange for a title match. Breakker agreed, then was shoved off a platform by Gacy. Once he hit the floor, Breakker was then seemingly attacked by hooded figures working at Gacy’s behest.

Also set for Spring Breakin’, Cameron Grimes will defend the NXT North American Championship against former champ Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikoa in a triple threat match.

The three were involved in a promo segment on this week’s show following a Hayes win over Santos Escobar to set up the Spring Breakin’ match.

The lineup for Spring Breakin’:

WWE NXT Spring Breakin’, Tuesday, May 3 —

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Joe Gacy
  • NXT North American Championship: Cameron Grimes (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Solo Sikoa

Dolph Ziggler wins NXT Championship at Roadblock

Dolph Ziggler defeated former champ Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa in a three-way to win the NXT Championship on tonight’s Roadblock episode of NXT 2.0.

As Ciampa set Breakker up for a running knee strike, Ziggler’s Dirty Dawgs teammate Robert Roode pulled Breakker out of Ciampa’s path and out of the ring. Ziggler capitalized by hitting a superkick to Ciampa, then pinning him to win the title.

The Roadblock result would seem to set up a Ziggler vs. Breakker title match for Stand & Deliver on Saturday, April 2, although no announcement has been made as of yet.

Breakker’s first reign with the NXT title ends at 63 days, as he had held the title since defeating Ciampa on the New Year’s Evil NXT 2.0 episode on January 4.

Ziggler has now held the NXT title, World Heavyweight title, United States title, Intercontinental title, World Tag Team title, Raw Tag Team title, and the SmackDown Tag Team title in his 15-plus years on the WWE roster. Additionally, he held the Money in the Bank briefcase on one occasion.

Triple threat match for NXT Championship set for next week’s Roadblock event

Three big matches have been scheduled for NXT Roadblock next Tuesday.

Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship in a triple threat match against Dolph Ziggler and Tommaso Ciampa. The match had originally been a singles bout between Breakker and Ziggler. Ciampa was added to the match after he pinned Ziggler tonight when he and Breakker defeated The Dirty Dawgz in a tag match.

The NXT Tag Team Championships will also be on the line next week. Imperium’s Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner will defend against the winners of the 2022 Men’s Dusty Rhodes Classic, The Creed Brothers.

The rivalry between LA Knight and Grayson Waller will continue at NXT Roadblock as well. Knight challenged Waller to a Last Man Standing match on tonight’s episode and the match was later made official.

The lineup for NXT Roadblock next week is as follows:

  • NXT Champion Bron Breakker will defend against Dolph Ziggler and Tommaso Ciampa in a triple threat match.
  • NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium will defend against The Creed Brothers
  • LA Knight vs. Grayson Waller in a Last Man Standing match

Dolph Ziggler becomes number one contender to WWE NXT Championship

Dolph Ziggler defeated Tommaso Ciampa on tonight’s WWE NXT 2.0 to become the number one contender to Bron Breakker’s NXT Championship.

Ziggler’s Dirty Dawgs tag partner Robert Roode was disguised as a camera operator during the match, then hit Ciampa with a camera to allow Ziggler to pick up the pinfall victory.

It has not been announced when Ziggler will receive his title shot, but it was hinted during a show-opening promo exchange between Ziggler and Breakker that the match could take place at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday, April 2.

Breakker has held the NXT title since defeating Ciampa for the belt at the New Year’s Evil episode of NXT 2.0 on January 4. His first defense came on last week’s Vengeance Day episode, where he defeated Santos Escobar to retain.

The April 2 date for Stand & Deliver was confirmed on tonight’s episode. With night one of WWE WrestleMania 38 scheduled for the same day, an afternoon start time for the NXT event is probable.

Bron Breakker wins NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil

Fourteen matches into his WWE career, Bron Breakker is a champion for the first time.

Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa in the main event of New Year’s Evil on Tuesday night to win the NXT Championship. After kicking out of the Fairytale Ending, Breakker hit a diving bulldog off the second rope and used the Steiner Recliner to submit Ciampa.

There was a spot near the end of the match where Breakker gave Ciampa a press slam, but Ciampa was able to reach the ropes to break up the pin. Ciampa then used the ring ropes to give Breakker a low blow. Ciampa hit three knee strikes on Breakker and gave him the Fairytale Ending, but Breakker kicked out.

Ciampa gave Breakker a nod of approval after the match.

Breakker and Ciampa had both defeated each other once heading into tonight’s match. At Halloween Havoc last October, Ciampa defeated Breakker to retain the NXT Championship. But Breakker got some revenge by pinning Ciampa to win the men’s WarGames match for Team NXT 2.0 at December’s NXT WarGames event.

Breakker (real name Bronson Rechsteiner) debuted on the premiere episode of NXT 2.0 last September. He’s the son of Rick Steiner and the nephew of Scott Steiner.

Rick Steiner was in attendance at New Year’s Evil but didn’t appear on camera. He embraced his son in the ring after the show went off the air.

Breakker was part of the group of recruits that reported to the WWE Performance Center in February 2021. Before following in his family’s footsteps in pro wrestling, he played college football at Kennesaw State University. Breakker also spent time in training camp with the Baltimore Ravens after college.

NXT Championship match added to WWE MSG house show

A new NXT Championship match has been added to tonight’s WWE house show event in Madison Square Garden.

It was announced on Madison Square Garden’s Twitter that Tommaso Ciampa will defend the NXT Championship against Pete Dunne.

“JUST ANNOUNCED: @NXTCiampa defends his #WWENXT Championship against @PeteDunneYxB TONIGHT at #WWEMSG!,” they wrote.

Already scheduled for tonight’s show are two cage matches. Becky Lynch will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair, while Big E will defend the WWE Championship against Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens in a triple threat match.

Ciampa in recent weeks has been feuding with Bron Breakker, rekindling their initial feud over the NXT Championship. The two will meet again in another title match at New Year’s Evil, a special edition of NXT that will take place on January 4. Pete Dunne, meanwhile, was laid out at the end of last Tuesday’s NXT, where Tony D’Angelo assaulted Dunne after Dunne defeated him.
