WWE NXT live results: Natalya vs. Cora Jade

The NXT women’s division will be the main focus of tonight’s episode of the show.

At least four women’s matches are set for tonight’s NXT. That includes a first-time singles matchup with Cora Jade taking on her former idol Natalya.

The feud between Jade and Natalya began when Natalya interrupted Jade on NXT last month. What initially appeared like it was going to be a friendly interaction ended with Natalya attacking Jade and putting her in the Sharpshooter.

At NXT Spring Breakin’ last week, Jade & Nikkita Lyons defeated Natalya & Lash Legend in a tag match.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) will be in action tonight, taking on Wendy Choo & Roxanne Perez in a non-title match.

Alba Fyre (formerly known as Kay Lee Ray) will wrestle for the first time since her name change. Plus, the inaugural NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament will begin.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Flashback to last week at Spring Breakin’, where Bron Breakker retains his NXT Championship over Joe Gacy. The previous episode ends with Breakker victorious, but behind him lurks two hooded figures.

As decades of watching Undertaker matches have taught me, those figures are “druids” that surround Breakker. The druids close in for a cliffhanger ending.

Tonight’s episode opens with footage from after NXT went off the air. The druids attack Breakker. They hit the champ with a metal folding chair, and they execute a Magic Killer on the chair. Haunting music plays.

The druids carry away Breakker on a stretcher wrapped in barb wire. Buckle up, yet another kidnapping storyline in NXT. Gacy has abducted Breakker, and he even put a sack over Breakker’s head. It is a diabolical plot. The champ looks in danger. Cue ominous music.

Live inside the soundstage at the Performance Center, the show kicks off with a women’s tag team bout. Wendy Choo has been a thorn in the side of Toxic Attraction in recent weeks. Choo teams with Roxanne Perez (formerly Rok-C) in a match against the champs, albeit non-title.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction (Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolan with NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose) defeat Roxanne Perez & Wendy Choo in a non-title match

Dolan pins Perez after blatant outside interference by Mandy Rose. The match itself was decent enough, but the finish is lame.

The babyface team are off to a hot start before the bell. Choo with a sneak attack on the heel trio, as Choo leaps off the top rope into a flying cross body on Toxic Attraction.

Perez is cut off, and Toxic Attraction work over Perez. Hot tag to Choo, and she cleans house. Choo hold the ropes open for Perez, who flies into a suicide dive. The show cuts to a split-screen commercial break, and the babyface team is in control.

Perez gets a hot tag after the show returns from the break. Perez shows a ton of fire.

Mandy Rose suddenly gets into the ring, and interferes at will. Choo attacks Rose, and they tangle up on the mat. Perez goes for a finisher on Dolan, but Jayne hits Perez with a superkick. Dolan then cradles Perez for a three count. Lame finish due to blatant outside interference.

Toxic Attraction after the match beat down Choo, and they bully her. Childish behavior. Grow up, and get better finishes.

Tiffany Stratton went shopping with Grayson Waller.

The Creed Brother are upset with Roderick Strong for him interfering last week in the Creeds’ match against the Viking Raiders. The Creeds tell Roddy they have a rematch next week against the Raiders.

Strong responds by introducing the group to Damon Kemp. The Creeds are upset even more, as new members to Diamond Mine is supposed to be a group decision. Tension brews in Diamond Mine.

Joe Gacy is in the ring flanked by druids for a speech. The live audience in the soundstage drown out Gacy, but he keeps talking anyway. Dude cannot take a hint.

Gacy apparently wants Breakker to be a part of his “movement” or whatever. Gacy says hardship awaits those that resist him. He is not wrong. Watching this feels like a hardship.

A new skit debuts called the “Ivy Nile Challenge.” This week begins with a push-up challenge. Nile vows to be the last one standingns, and so begins a skit that runs throughout the show.

All of the participants in the Women’s Breakout Tournament are introduced in front of the live audience, as the tournament is set to begin.

Fallon Henley defeats Sloane Jacobs in a first round match in the Women’s Breakout Tournament

Henley pins Jacobs, and Henley advances in the tournament.

Briggs & Jensen come down to ringside to cheer on Henley. Their cheers work, as Henley makes a comebacks. High fives all around.

Henley with a wickedly cook combo, and then a running knee strike. A three count later, and she was celebrating with Briggs & Jensen.

Henley advances to the next round where she meets the winner of Nikkita Lyons against Arianna Grace, which is another first round match later tonight.

Santos Escobar is backstage with Legado del Fantasma for an interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Last week, Fantasma kidnapped AJ Galante. Escobar cuts a promo, but is basically getting away with a crime. Then, Escobar basically threatens to murder someone.

After a commercial break is a skit where Tony D’Angelo and his crew jump someone from Legado del Fantasma, and they kidnap him. D’Angelo says they are sending a message. Yeah, you and everyone else in NXT it seems. Yet another kidnapping plot is underway. There are so many I have lost count.

Alba Fyre defeats Amari Miller

Fyre pins Miller in what is billed as Fyre’s re-debut. Fyre re-debuts with a new name and a slightly new look. She still carries a baseball bat to the ring, but her gear is new. Kay Lee Ray was better, but this new character is very WWE.

Although it is a showcase for Fyre, Miller gets some offense. Miller is making her return to action after an injury in a match with Lash Legend.

Miller is soon cut off. Headbutt by Fyre, and she drops Miller into a Gory Bomb. Fyre then climbs to the top rope, and she jumps off the top with a Swanton. Fyre then covers Miller for a pinfall.

Solo Sikoa in a silly skit locks Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams out of the building.

Cora Jade is asked if she is nervous to face Natalya tonight. She is indeed nervous, and Jade says she is ready. Jade vows to win.

Solo Sikoa is the challenger-in-waiting for the NXT North American title

Solo Sikoa comes to the ring for a promo. His target is the NXT North American Championship. He challenges the winner of Carmelo Hayes and Cameron Grimes when they face off at In Your House (which is the next NXT supercard).

Grimes, who is the North American Champion, interrupts Sikoa. Grimes agrees to give Sikoa the next title shot if Grimes retains against Hayes. Sikoa and Grimes shake hands, and Sikoa leaves the ring.

Hayes and Williams rush into the ring, as they found their way into the building via another entrance. They jump Grimes. Williams and Hayes are beating and stomping on Grimes.

Sikoa looks over his shoulder to see Grimes in peril. Sikoa rushes back into the ring for the save. Sikoa cleans house on the heels, and they flee.

The mobster movie continues as Escobar and D’Angelo agree to a have a wrestling match to settle their dispute. The kidnappings have lead to a pro wrestling match. This mini-movie was bad, but it was almost go bad it was good.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Nathan Frazier. He is interrupted by Xyon Quinn. Wes Lee also interrupts. This sets up a match between Quinn and Lee.

Sarray & Andre Chase (with Bodhi Hayward) defeat Tiffany Stratton & Grayson Waller in a mixed tag team match

Sarray pins Stratton after a distraction by Hayward.

Hayward was dressed like Sarray, which was mildly offensive. There was also some gaga in this match, if you can believe that.

The match goes through a commercial break. Only god knows why.

Sarray is running wild, and she signals for her wrecking ball dropkick. Waller pulls Stratton out of the ring, blocking Sarray’s dropkick. Chase trips up Waller, and Chase holds Walle so Sarray can hit him with dropkick.

Stratton springboards into a twisting splash on Sarray, and she goes for a cover. Sarray gets her foot on the bottom rope to break the count. Hayward also causes a distraction with an airhorn. Stratton is very upset about the airhorn, she leaps over the ropes with a plancha on Hayward.

Stratton gets back into the ring, where she is immediately rolled up by Sarray for a pinfall. Sarray gets the win for her team, and Stratton is upset like a spoiled child.

The Ivy Nile Challenge continues with lunges.

Von Wagner, with Mr. Stone at his side, is attacked by Ikemen Jiro. There is a pull-apart brawl and lots of shouting. No one was using their indoor voices. The yelling seems to indicate there is a strong likelihood for a match.

Toxic Attraction comes to Indi Hartwell, and they bully her. Hartwell is already sad because she lost her boyfriend. The heel trio taunts her about it, making Hartwell even more sad.

Nikkita Lyons defeats Arianna Grace in a first round match in the Women’s Breakout Tournament

Lyons pins Grace. Yikes, this was something.

Lyons sells more than in her previous matches, for better or worse. Grace works an arm. Comeback by Lyons, and Lyons hulks up.

Lyons with a roundhouse kick, followed by the splits into a legdrop, and Lyons covers Grace for a pinfall.

Lyons advances to the next round of the tournament where she faces Fallon Henley.

The Ivy Nile Challenges rolls on. Next up is battle ropes and pull-ups.

The Vikings Raiders cut a campy promo on The Creed Brothers. The two teams meet in a return match next week on NXT. Also next Tuesday, Tony D’Angelo against Santos Escobar in a singles match. In addition, Bron Breakker “answers” Joe Gacy.

Natalya defeats Cora Jade

Nattie wins via referee stoppage after Jade loses consciousness while trapped in the sharpshooter.

Best match on the show by a country mile, thanks in large part to Natalya leading the way. The closing minutes were especially good.

They grapple at the outset. Jade escapes Nattie’s grasp as the show cuts to its final commercial break.

After the show returns from commercials, Nattie is again in control. Romero Special applied by Nattie, and she is taking Jade to school. Jade keeps fighting back.

Jade fires up, leading to a running knee strike. Tornado DDT by Jade for a near fall. They fight on the turnbuckles, and the match really begins to cook.

Really good sequences as Nattie teases a sharpshooter. Jade counters the hold as they go back-and-forth. Roaring clothesline by Nattie for a near fall.

Nattie suplexes Jade into the ropes, which whips Jade’s leg into a rope. Nattie then begins to target a leg, and Nattie dissects her prey. She rams the injured leg into a ring post.

Natalya teases a ring post figure four, but Jade blocks the attempt. Inside cradle out of nowhere by Jade for a two count.

Shining wizard by Jade turns the tide. Comeback begins, and Jade gets another near fall after a double stomp. Jade continues to sell her knee.

Sliced bread by Jade, but her she keeps selling the knee. Nattie kicks out yet  again.

Jade applies a sharpshooter, but Nattie powers out. Jade’s buckles while selling her knee. Nonetheless, Jade goes for a high risk move off the middle rope. The knee is weak, causing an awkward jump.

Nattie counters the jump as she catches the legs of Jade. Nattie applies the sharpshooter. Jade fights the pain, and Jade refuses to quit.

Jade eventually passed out in the submission hold, and the referee stops the match.  Natalya wins after Jade passes out while trapped in the hold.

Natalya embraces Jade after the match. They bury the hatchet, and they shake hands. The show closes as Natalya and Jade hug.

Natalya vs. Cora Jade added to WWE NXT

Natalya and Cora Jade are set to face off in singles action for the first time ever.

WWE has announced that Natalya vs. Jade will take place on NXT this Tuesday night. At NXT Spring Breakin’ last week, Jade & Nikkita Lyons defeated Natalya & Lash Legend in a tag team match.

Jade pinned Legend to win last week’s match.

Natalya and Jade have been feuding since Natalya made a surprise appearance on NXT last month. Natalya interrupted Jade for what initially appeared to be a friendly interaction, but she then attacked Jade and put her in the Sharpshooter.

In storyline, Natalya attacked Jade as part of an attempt to cut off up-and-coming wrestlers before they move up to the main roster and go after her. Jade has said that Natalya was her idol growing up and her first favorite women’s wrestler.

Here’s the updated lineup for this Tuesday’s NXT:

  • Natalya vs. Cora Jade
  • Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) vs. Wendy Choo & Roxanne Perez
  • Alba Fyre (formerly known as Kay Lee Ray) in action
  • The NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament begins

WWE Women’s Tag Team title match set for May 13 SmackDown

Naomi and Sasha Banks will be defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles in two weeks on SmackDown.

Tonight’s show announced that they will defend the titles against Shayna Baszler and Natalya on the May 13th edition of SmackDown. Naomi defeated Baszler on tonight’s show, but Natalya attacked Naomi right after the match. Banks came in for the save, but Natalya got the advantage while Baszler recovered and attacked Naomi, stomping on Naomi’s arm.

Baszler & Natalya interrupted an interview with Naomi & Banks on last week’s SmackDown, saying they have never been beaten for the titles, mentioning the four-way from WrestleMania 38. Natalya ended up pushing Banks down, with Naomi holding Banks back as Baszler & Natalya made their exit.

Banks and Naomi won the titles on the second night of WrestleMania 38 in a four-way match that involved then-champions Carmella & Queen Zelina, Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan, and Natalya & Baszler.

Three matches added to WWE NXT Spring Breakin’

Three matches have been added to next week’s Spring Breakin’ episode of WWE NXT.

Main roster talent Natalya will team with Lash Legend against Cora Jade and Nikkita Lyons in a tag team bout. The contest was set up on this week’s NXT episode following a Legend vs. Lyons match. After Lyons won, Natalya ran in to attack her, following up on a backstage interaction the two had on last week’s show. Jade then ran in to make the save.

In another tag match featuring main roster talent, The Viking Raiders will face Diamond Mine’s The Creed Brothers. Diamond Mine’s Roderick Strong invited the Raiders to NXT this week and handpicked them as opponents to challenge the Creeds, who Strong accused of being too satisfied with their achievements.

Also set for next week, Nathan Frazer will make his in-ring debut, facing Grayson Waller. Frazer’s debut was initially announced for this week’s show, but Waller interjected himself before the match began and attacked Frazer’s opponent.

After weeks of tension between the two, a sit-down meeting between Tony D’Angelo and Santos Escobar was also added to Spring Breakin’. D’Angelo introduced two new associates on this week’s episode in Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan and “Stacks” Channing  Lorenzo.

Here is the full lineup for next week:

WWE NXT Spring Breakin’, Tuesday, May 3 —

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Joe Gacy
  • NXT North American Championship: Cameron Grimes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • Natalya & Lash Legend vs. Cora Jade & Nikkita Lyons
  • The Viking Raiders vs. The Creed Brothers
  • Nathan Frazer vs. Grayson Waller

WWE NXT live results: Natalya in action, Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar

Following her surprise appearance on last week’s NXT, Natalya will be in action on the show tonight.

Natalya stopped by NXT last Tuesday and began a feud with Cora Jade. There was also a backstage segment on the show that set up a match between Natalya and Tatum Paxley for tonight. Paxley said she’s been trying to prove herself in NXT, and if she has to step up to Natalya to do it — so be it.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar is also set for tonight, with both Hayes and Escobar looking to state their case for a North American title shot. Hayes lost the North American title to Cameron Grimes in a five-way ladder match at NXT Stand & Deliver earlier this month. Escobar was also involved in the ladder match.

Plus, Grayson Waller vs. Sanga, Sarray vs. Tiffany Stratton, and an appearance by new NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly have been announced for tonight’s show.

Pretty Deadly defeated The Creed Brothers at the end of a gauntlet match last week to win the vacant NXT Tag Team titles. Waller and Sanga’s partnership ended after they failed to win the gauntlet match.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show kicks off with the new NXT Tag Team Champions, Elton Prince & Kit Wilson, who are known as Pretty Deadly. Besides being the new tag champs, they also must have quite the wardrobe.

Pretty Deadly begins to cut a promo, which is their first speaking role on NXT. Grizzled Young Veterans interrupt, and they cut their own promos on Pretty Deadly. Grizzled Young Veterans want a title match tonight. Actually, “Grizzled Young Veterans” might not be their team name anymore. But we will call them that for at least one more week out of habit.

Elektra Lopez interrupts as she leads Legado del Fantasma to the ring. Lopez says that Grizzled Young Veterans are not they only team that wants a title shot. With that, a melee erupts. Legado del Fantasma jump Grizzled Young Verterans.

Pretty Deadly exit the ring so the two heel teams can fight. The two teams brawl out of the ring and off the soundstage.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker comes through the crowd, and he gets into the ring. Dressed in street clothes, Breakker calls out Joe Gacy. Breakker wants his father’s Hall of Fame ring back.

Gacy appears on the Titantron screens hanging around the soundstage. Gacy tells Breakker that Gacy has what Breakker is looking for. Gacy challenges Breakker to find him. Gacy then laughs maniacally like a cartoon villain. Breakker heads backstage to search for Gacy, and so begins a show long skit.

A “digital exclusive” from “last Saturday” shows Santos Escobar cutting a promo on Carmelo Hayes. Hayes, joined as usual by Trick Williams, respond to Escobar with a promo of their own. This sets up a match later on tonight.

Tiffany Stratton defeats Sarray

Stratton pins Sarray after using a springboard into a corkscrew. Decent enough match, but the finishing sequence was odd with Sarray taking a phantom bump.

Stratton continues to improve. Parts of the bout look very choreographed, but Stratton is still one heck of an athlete. When Sarray starts her comeback, the pacing and intensity immediately pick up.

Sarry with a double stomp off the top rope, and then comes Sarray’s signature running dropkick. After using a German suplex earlier in the match , Sarray went for another. Stratton blocks it by holding onto the ropes.

Stratton throws her head back, and Sarray takes a bump like she was shot by a sniper. Stratton springboards into a corkscrew body press, and Stratton covers Sarray for a three count.

Breakker is backstage searching for Joe Gacy. He hears the voice of his father, Rick Steiner. His dad is calling out to “Bronson” as Breakker searches for where the sound is coming from.

Breakker finds the cage that Steiner was trapped in. Inside the cage is a electronic tablet, and that is the source of the sounds. An angry Breakker breaks the tablet and storms off to continue his search.

Pretty Deadly is met by Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta. There are sexual overtones when Hartwell & Pirotta ask for a match. Pretty Deadly think they mean a match against the women, but what the women mean is a match against their boyfriends — Dexter Lumis & Duke Hudson. This ends up being the main event match on the show. I am not kidding.

Grayson Waller in a backstage interview addressing his split with Sanga. Waller fired him last week after their loss in the gauntlet match. Waller was cutting a promo on Sanga when Andre Chase & Bodhi Hayward interrupt him. Chase said what we have is a “teachable moment,” which is his lame catchphrase.

Waller begins responding to Waller when a door burst open. It’s SANGA! Waller flees in a hurry. A chase ensues, as the monster lumbers after his prey. Sanga chases Waller onto the soundstage and into the ring. A referee follows them into the squared circle, and he orders for the bell to ring. A match is now underway.

Grayson Waller defeats Sanga

Waller pins Sanga in what is Sanga’s second televised loss on NXT in a singles match. Although Sanga plays a monster in this bout, Waller slays him in the end. Not looking good for Sanga’s future if he is already taking cleans pinfalls on TV. Time will tell.

Sanga in this bout mauls Waller from the start. Waller is on rubber legs, until he takes a powder when Sanga signals for a goozle. Waller seemingly counters, only to eventually run into a goozle at the hands of Sanga.

Waller still manages to again counter Sanga, as Waller escapes an attempted chokeslam. Waller then sends Sanga crashing into a ring post. With a running start into the ring, Waller does a roll and pops up into a cutter. Waller then covers Sanga for a three count.

Cora Jade in a vignette cuts a promo on Natalya. Jade even rips up a photograph of her younger self with Nattie. Jade meets Natalya in a match soon. This was a great hype video, but the next one on the show was even better.

A different vignette introduces viewers to Roxanne Perez (formerly known as Rok-C in ROH and indies). She talks about her struggles growing up, and how playing WWE video games helped her escape. She made her dreams come true, and she debuts in a WWE ring next week.

Roxanne is also interviewed backstage by McKenzie Mitchell. The Toxic Attraction trio interrupts Roxanne, and they proceed to bully her. Jacy Jayne tells her to move her debut up to this week, and Jayne challenges Perez to a match tonight. Perez accepts after saying she “will figure something out.”

Legado del Fantasma (with Elektra Lopez & Santos Escobar) defeat Grizzled Young Veterans

Really good fast paced match, but Grizzled Young Veterans seem more and more like afterthoughts on NXT. They lose another match clean. As good as the match was, it was also an afterthought if the post-match promo is any indication.

Santos Escobar joins Legado del Fantasma in the ring to celebrate. He cuts a promo on Carmelo Hayes, before the show goes to a commercial break. Escobar against Hayes is taking place at the top of the hour.

Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeats Santos Escobar

Hayes pins Escobar after outside interference by unnamed assailants. Legadao del Fantasma was not a ringside, so Escobar was alone against the odds.

Seems like a babyface turn for Escobar, and it appears Escobar is headed for a match against Tony D’Angelo. However, D’Angelo later in the show denies any involvement in a Tonya Harding attack on Escobar.

As the match gets going, Williams causes a distraction. That allows Hayes to strike by springboarding into a flying clothesline. Hayes is in control as the show goes to a split screen commercial break.

The show comes back to full screen, and Hayes remains in control. The pace slows down to a crawl. They set up a spot where Escobar gives Hayes a delayed vertical suplex.

Slugfest develops with a fighting spirit exchange. They trade strikes. The pace soon quickens as Escobar fires up. He torpedoes himself through the ropes into a tope.

An unknown person wearing a suit and a fedora is suddenly at ringside standing next to Escobar. He was a red herring. From behind, another person in a suit and fedora attacks. Escobar is hit in the hamstring with a crowbar in a Tonya Harding angle.

The two men roll Escobar into the ring. Hayes leaps off the top rope with a guillotine legdrop, and Hayes scores a pinfall on Escobar.

Hayes cut a promo after the match, and Hayes talks about getting a title shot at “Spring Breakin'”, which brings out NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes. Just when it looks like a confrontation between the two, in runs Solo Sikoa. He cleans house on Hayes and Williams, and Sikoa clears the ring except for Grimes. Sikoa says he has “next.”

Breakker is backstage searching for Gacy. This was ridiculous to begin with, but it was made even more ridiculous. They did the mirror spot from Nitro where Hollywood Hogan can see Warrior in a mirror, but no one else can. Breakker smashes a mirror and screams.

Tension is apparent in Diamond Mine. Roderick Strong tells Malcolm Bivens that Strong himself is the leader of the group. Strong tells Bivens that whoever does not agree with Strong’s vision of Diamond Mine, then they are an enemy.

Natalya defeats Tatum Paxley

Nattie submits Paxley with a sharpshooter. Nattie looks strong in winning, and she carries the match.

The story of the match is Nattie is basically a ring general, which she is. When Paxley begins to make a comeback, Nattie is there to guide her. Nattie feeds into the comeback while also directing traffic.

Paxley gets a two count after a standing senton. She missed a charge into a corner, and that is the beginning of the end. Natalya applies a sharpshooter, and Paxley taps out.

Tony D’Angelo in the parking lot when he is asked about the attack on Escobar. D’Angelo scoffs at any notion he is involved in the assault. He asks if a SUV in the parking lot belongs to Escobar.

A comedy skit shows Duke Hudson trying to game plan with Dexter Lumis. Gaga ensues.

Xyon Quinn defeats Wes Lee

Quinn pins Lee in a showcase match.

This was set up when the two got into a brief argument earlier in the show. Lee sold for much of the bout, but he eventually explodes into a comeback. But to no avail.

The match is basically all Quinn until he signals for his finisher. Lee counters with a superkick, and Lee fires up. Not for long. Lee messes up on an attempted springboard.

The botch kind of works well with the finish, as Quinn levels Lee with a right hand. He was probably supposed to hit the punch on Lee in mid-air, but Lee instead runs into it.

Quinn hits Lee with a Tito Santana flying forearm that looked very stiff. It looks downright brutal in slow motion.

Natalya in a backstage interview is confronted by Nikkita Lyons. Nattie is talking about Cora Jade when Lyons confronts her. Lyons towers over Nattie. They yell at each other, and this looks to set up a match between the two in two weeks.

Roxanne Perez defeats Jacy Jayne (with Mandy Rose and Gigi Dolan)

Perez pins Jayne after a distraction. Perez looks so much better in the ring that any of the other new faces in NXT. Too bad her bad was kept super short.

The match was just getting good when Wendy Choo appears on the Titantron. Choo is trashing Toxic Attraction’s lounge.

Choo’s antics distract Jayne, allowing Perez to bounce into action. Perez executes a Code Red, and Perez scores a three count on Jayne.

Escobar is leaving the building with Legado del Fantasma. They are in the parking lot walking to Escobar’s SUV. In some unintentional humor, Escobar is still wearing his gear. My guess is they pre-taped this segment before his match, but that is only a guess on my part. Escobar gets to his SUV only to find a boot on one of the wheels. A dead fish sits stinking on the hood. Escobar says it is pretty obvious who did this.

Made official for Spring Breakin’ in two weeks time, Cameron Grimes defends the NXT North American Championship in a triple threat match against Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikoa.

Joe Gacy is watching Bron Breakker on a set of security monitors. Gacy says it is time he ends this. I sure wish somebody who end this stupid storyline. Mercy.

During the main event, some matches were announced for next Tuesday on NXT. Those bouts include:

  • Nikkita Lyons vs. Lash Legend
  • Fallon Henley, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen meet Elektra Lopez & Legado del Fantasma in a six-person mixed tag team match
  • Solo Sikoa vs. Trick Williams

NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) defeat Dexter Lumis & Duke Hudson (with Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta) to retain their titles

Prince pins Hudson, and the champs retain.

While the work in the match was decent enough, this did not feel like a main event at all. Very much a prelim finish as well. Though this is basically in the main event slot, a skit would actually close the show.

Similar to the skit, this match had some gaga at times. It is supposed to be comedy.

The tag match built to hot tag where Hudson cleans house on Pretty Deadly. He is cut off, but Hudson fights back down the stretch. Hudson gets a near fall after a powerslam on Prince.

Wilson distracts Hudson, which allow Prince to boot Hudson with a high kick. Prince then covers Hudson, hooks a leg, and gets a pinfall. The champs retain.

Joe Gacy pushes Bron Breakker over the edge

Much of the lights on the soundstage go dark, with spotlights lighting up only Joe Gacy. He is on a perch bathed in the light. Out comes an angry Breakker to confront him.

Gacy tells Breakker he will return Rick Steiner’s Hall of Fame under one condition — Gacy is granted a title shot at Spring Breakin’ in two weeks time. I almost feel like Ralphie in “A Christmas Story” when he finds out the whole ring gimmick is just a crummy commercial. Drink more Ovaline. Watch more NXT.

Breakker accepts the challenge, because of course he does. Gacy places the HOF ring in a pocket on Breakker’s denim vest. On a side note, I think it is a nice looking vest. It is very pro wrestling.

Gacy then tells Breakker there one last thing he needs to do, and that is take a “leap of faith.” Gacy shoves Breakker backwards, and Breakker takes a bump off the platform they were standing on.

Breakker is down selling the fall. Gacy is standing on the platform looking down at Breakker. Gacy wears a sinister smile as druids cloaked in black suddenly appear. The druids cover Breakker as he screams for them to get off him.

The show closes with the cliffhanger of Breakker in peril. Joe Gacy is officially the next challenger. This storyline must continue for at least two more weeks. Please send help.

WWE NXT video highlights: Natalya appears, new tag champs crowned

A member of the main roster women’s division stopped by NXT last night for a surprise appearance.

Natalya appeared on last night’s NXT as part of a segment with Cora Jade. But what Jade thought was going to be a friendly interaction with her idol ended up taking a turn.

Jade mentioned Natalya when listing the women who she idolized growing up. Natalya’s music then hit and she made her way down to the ring to meet Jade.

Jade said Natalya was her first favorite women’s wrestler and the first action figure she ever bought. She recounted messaging Natalya after a SmackDown house show when she was 10 years old. Natalya told Jade that she remembered that night. And when she went to message Jade after Jade made her NXT debut, she saw Jade’s message from 2011. Natalya said it blows her away to know that she inspired Jade in that way.

Natalya called Jade the future of the NXT women’s division — but Natalya said the future is bleak. Natalya then slapped Jade and put her in the Sharpshooter.

A backstage segment later in the show set up Natalya vs. Tatum Paxley for next week’s NXT.

New NXT Tag Team Champions were also crowned last night. After the titles were declared vacant following the release of MSK’s Nash Carter, Pretty Deadly became NXT Tag Team Champions by winning a five-team gauntlet match.

Pretty Deadly were the last team to enter the gauntlet match. The Creed Brothers had defeated all three other teams to make it to the finals with Pretty Deadly.

Natalya appears on WWE NXT, attacks Cora Jade

WWE’s Natalya appeared on this week’s NXT 2.0 episode, attacking Cora Jade.

The attack came after Jade was in the ring for a promo segment. She discussed how she had looked up to stars like Natalya, AJ Lee, and Sasha Banks, and that she would one day be a champion in WWE like they were.

Natalya’s music then hit. She came to the ring to a big reaction from the crowd at the WWE Performance Center, becoming emotional at the response.

Natalya and Jade then discussed Cora sending Natalya a Twitter message when she was a child, with Natalya following up by pointing Jade out in the crowd at a house show.

After giving Jade a pep talk, Natalya said that if Jade is the future, the future is bleak. Shen then slapped Jade before applying a Sharpshooter. Officials ran out to break the two up.

Later in the show, Natalya walked through a backstage area and declared that she was putting the NXT locker room on notice. Tatum Paxley told Natalya that she had been trying to prove herself to Diamond Mine and others in NXT. Natalya then said that she would have her chance to prover herself. A match between the two was then announced for next week’s NXT 2.0 episode.

Natalya & Shayna Baszler added to WWE WrestleMania Tag title match

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania will now be a four-way.

Natalya and Shayna Baszler have been added to the title match on night two of WrestleMania on Sunday, April 3 after an angle on tonight’s SmackDown episode.

Natalya and Baszler interfered in a tag match on SmackDown featuring Sasha Banks and Naomi taking on Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan with Tag title holders Queen Zelina and Carmella at ringside. After laying out all for competitors in the match, Natalya and Baszler then had a staredown with Zelina and Carmella.

Later in the show, Sonya Deville congratulated Natalya and Baszler on their interference and announced that they would be added to the WrestleMania bout.

Women’s title match, Aliyah vs. Natalya announced for WWE SmackDown

A SmackDown Women’s Championship match, as well as a match between Natalya and Aliyah, has been announced for next week’s program.

Charlotte will defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Naomi. The match was made tonight after Sonya Deville suggested the match in a backstage segment where Naomi confronted Deville following the events of the Royal Rumble. Naomi didn’t believe Deville, but Adam Pearce confirmed that the match was set.

Aliyah and Natalya have been feuding for the last several weeks after Alyiah pinned Natalya in 3.17 seconds on a recent episode of SmackDown, breaking a WWE record. This has infuriated Natalya, who now holds several Guinness World Records. The two had a match tonight that led to Aliyah winning by count out.

Natalya backstage then proposed a match to Deville where she would face Aliyah in a match next week where the match can only be won by pinfall or submission. Deville agreed to the match. Later, Natalya went to confront Aliyah in the women’s locker room, but Xia Li then walked out, intimidating Natalya.

SmackDown next week will take place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Reigns-Rollins segment, Lita return set for WWE SmackDown

WWE has made a few announcements for tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

Former Shield stablemates Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will take part in a face-to-face segment tonight. Reigns is defending his Universal Championship against Rollins at the Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 29.

Last Friday, there was an angle where Adam Pearce had to decide Reigns’ Royal Rumble challenger before the end of the show. At the end of the night, Reigns received a knock at his door. It was revealed to be Rollins, who laughed hysterically as Reigns looked befuddled.

Rollins is a member of the Raw roster. He defeated Big E this Monday.

It’s also been announced that WWE Hall of Famer Lita will make her return to SmackDown tonight. It will be her first SmackDown appearance in nearly 20 years.

Lita is one of 19 wrestlers who has already been confirmed for this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match.

Aliyah and Natalya are two of the other wrestlers who have been confirmed for the women’s Rumble. They’ll face off in a singles match tonight. It will be Aliyah’s first singles match on SmackDown since being called up from NXT and the first time she’s wrestled since November.

Plus, Sami Zayn will host the premiere of his new stunt show “InZayn” tonight. WWE is hyping that Zayn has promised to “out-‘Jackass'” Johnny Knoxville after the “Jackass” star threw him out of the ring last week. Knoxville will be an entrant in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.

Tonight’s SmackDown is being held at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.

WWE SmackDown live results: Final build to Survivor Series

SmackDown’s go-home show for Survivor Series takes place at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut tonight.

Last week, Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Xavier Woods ended in a disqualification after The Usos interfered. Reigns had promised to bend the knee if he lost to Woods. After the match, Reigns posed in the ring on one knee as The Usos placed Woods’ crown on his head.

Reigns takes on WWE Champion Big E in a non-title match at Survivor Series this Sunday.

Sasha Banks goes one-on-one with Shotzi tonight. Shotzi attacked Banks a couple of weeks ago and gave her a vicious beatdown to set up the match. Banks and Shotzi are both members of SmackDown’s Survivor Series women’s team.

It will be Banks, Shotzi, Shayna Baszler, Natalya & Toni Storm vs. Raw’s Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Carmella & Zelina Vega on Sunday.

The final member of SmackDown’s men’s team will be determined by a fatal four-way match on tonight’s show. Ricochet, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Jinder Mahal will face off in the match. The winner will join Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, Woods, and Baron Corbin on Team SmackDown. They’ll be facing Raw’s Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley & Austin Theory at Survivor Series.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

They recapped the Roman Reigns and King Xavier Woods match from last week. It highlighted Reigns posing on one knee while the Usos placed Woods’ crown on his head.

Roman Reigns And The Usos Segment

The Usos were already in the ring to start SmackDown. They set the ring up with a throne, scepter, and crown. Jimmy noted Roman Reigns is about to come to the ring, and they have a surprise for him.

First, they addressed their match against RK-Bro at the Survivor Series on Sunday. The Usos then gave Reigns a grand introduction, and he walked to the ring with Paul Heyman. The fans gave Reigns a mixed reaction.

Heyman took the mic and noted they worked on the surprise all week. He praised Reigns and called him the true king.

Heyman believes the fans agree that the title of King doesn’t belong to Xavier Woods, Brock Lesnar, or Big E. He promised that Reigns would smash Big E at the Survivor Series.
Reigns took the mic and asked who’s idea it was to set the ring up with a throne and crown. Heyman pointed at the Usos.

Reigns noted he took the crown last week but didn’t need it. Reigns demanded the fans acknowledge him, and he got a mixed reaction with lots of cheers.

Woods music hit, and he walked out onto the stage. Woods noted having the crown doesn’t make him the king. He told Reigns to meet him face to face without the Usos to prove that he’s a real man.

Woods claimed he didn’t care about the crown and the other stuff in the ring. Reigns didn’t believe him and had the Usos destroy the scepter and throne. Reigns mocked Woods and questioned him again. Reigns placed the crown on the ground and went to stomp it, but Woods ran into the ring.

The Usos jumped Woods and beat him down in the corner. Reigns got in Woods’s face and noted he’s the one and only king. Reigns also doesn’t need props. Reigns then stomped on the crown.

They recapped Jeff Hardy defeating Sami Zayn last week. Michael Cole noted there’s one spot left on Team SmackDown.

In the back, Kayla Braxton interviewed King Woods. He promised to confront Reigns in the ring later tonight.

Fatal Four-Way Match Winner Added To Team SmackDown: Sheamus defeated Ricochet, Cesaro, and Jinder Mahal (w/Shanky) (10:59)

This was a good opener and a fun fatal four-way.

Sheamus backed Ricochet into the corner while Cesaro brawled with Mahal on the other side of the ring. Sheamus and Cesaro went face-to-face, but Mahal jumped Cesaro. The heels worked together against Cesaro. Sheamus dumped Cesaro out of the ring, and the heels isolated Ricochet.

Mahal set up Ricochet so Sheamus could beat him in the chest. Sheamus started hitting Ricochet, but Mahal rolled Sheamus up for a near fall. Sheamus recovered and beat Mahal in the chest instead. Cesaro jumped Sheamus and went for the giant swing, but Sheamus broke free.

Ricochet took out Sheamus with a springboard dropkick. He then sent Cesaro outside the ring and hit a huge dive onto all opponents on the floor.

Back from the break, Ricochet and Cesaro fought on the top rope. Sheamus and Mahal fought on the top rope on the other side. Time froze for a second as Sheamus gave Mahal a superplex. Ricochet then gave Cesaro a hurricanrana off the top rope.

Sheamus went for a power slam, but Ricochet countered with a DDT. He followed up with a standing shooting star press for a near fall. Mahal took out Ricochet, but Cesaro caught him in the giant swing. Cesareo transitioned into the Sharpshooter.

Ricochet took out Shanky at ringside and calmly stepped into the ring. He rocked Cesaro with kicks to break the hold. In an awesome spot, Ricochet hit the 630 splash on Mahal but walked into the Brogue kick from Sheamus.

Cesaro broke up the pin attempt, but Sheamus fought back. Sheamus leaped off the top rope, but Cesaro caught him with an uppercut. Ridge Holland ran down to ringside and tried to distract Cesaro.

Sheamus went for the Brogue Kick, but Cesaro avoided and rolled him up for a near fall. Holland interfered again, and Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick on Cesaro for the win. Sheamus joins Team SmackDown at the Survivor Series.

In the back, Kayla Braxton interviewed Jeff Hardy. Hardy praised Drew McIntrye and is excited to be his partner. He’s also certain that King Woods is going to get revenge on Roman Reigns. Hardy turned his attention to Happy Corbin.

Corbin and Madcap Moss approached and made a bad joke about Hardy. Adam Pearce walked up and was frustrated they weren’t taking this seriously. He announced Hardy vs. Moss for later tonight.

In the back, Megan Morant spoke with Sheamus and Ridge Holland. Sheamus mentioned Holland praising him the last few weeks. Holland praised Sheamus again and called him his idol. Holland noted if anyone has a problem with them, they can find them at the pub.

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee discussed the Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch Survivor Series match. Cole claimed everyone in the media is talking about this feud.

They showed an excellent video package on the Flair and Lynch feud. It mentioned their friendship and becoming bitter rivals. It included the controversial segment where Flair didn’t hand over the belt to Lynch.

Shayna Baszler & Natalya defeated Naomi & Aliyah (1:01)

This was a bad match. They got no time, and the finish came out of nowhere. It seemed like a fast count from the referee, but that wasn’t clear at the time.

They recapped Aliyah pinning Natalya last week and Deville removing her from Team SmackDown.

Natalya backed Aliyah in the corner. Aliyah fought back and caught Natalya with a unique hurricanrana. The faces briefly ran wild on the heels. Baszler backed Naomi in their corner. Suddenly, Natalya pinned Naomi with a fast count from the referee.

In the back, Sami Zayn complained to Sonya Deville about the conspiracy against him. Deville pointed out that was Adam Pearce and not her. Deville noted Survivor Series is the 25th anniversary of The Rock’s debut. Deville announced a 25-man battle royal and put Zayn in the match. She claimed that Zayn would be on Rock’s level if he won.

The referee approached Deville and asked if she did a good job. Deville claimed not to know the referee and said she doesn’t associate with crooked referees.

Jeff Hardy (w/Drew McIntrye) defeated Madcap Moss (w/Happy Corbin) (1:28)

Hardy and Moss didn’t get any time either, and the finish came out of nowhere.

Before the match, Hardy noted the odds were against him, so he brought out McIntrye to be in his corner. McIntyre gave his sword to Pat McAfee to take care of during the match.

Moss jumped Hardy for the early advantage. Hardy fought back and hit the basement dropkick. He followed up with the twist of fate and climbed the top rope. Corbin interfered, but McIntrye attacked him and threw him over the announce table.

Hardy tried to recover, but Moss cut him off. Hardy then rolled up Moss with a small package for the win.

After the match, McIntrye gave Corbin the Claymore Kick, and Hardy hit the Swanton Bomb.

In the back, Kayla Braxton approached Paul Heyman. Heyman noted that Roman Reigns doesn’t need the Usos. He then accepted Woods’s challenge for later.

Non-title match: Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura (w/Rick Boogs) defeated Angel (w/Humberto) (1:46)

Nakamura and Angel had another quick match that didn’t get a chance to develop.

Angel rocked Nakamura with a dropkick at the bell. On commentary, Michael Cole noted Los Lotharios were upset that People magazine named Paul Rudd the Sexiest Man Alive, and they showed a photoshopped cover featuring Los Lotharios instead.

Nakamura sent Angel to the floor and caught him with a knee off the apron. Humberto grabbed Nakamura’s leg, but Boogs grabbed him and gave him a suplex on the floor. Nakamura then hit the Kinshasa on Angel for the win.

In the back, Shotzi and Sasha Banks got in each other’s face. Sonya Deville made them promise to shake hands after their match.

Sasha Banks defeated Shotzi (11:05)

Banks and Shotzi had a fine match that dragged at times. The fans were pretty dead by this point.

Banks and Shotzi pushed each other at the start of the match. Banks took over and hit the Three Amigos suplexes. The fans broke into a brief “Eddie” chant. Banks went for the frog splash, but Shotzi avoided the move.

They brawled at ringside. Shotzi trapped Banks’ arm in the steps and stomped on it several times. Shotzi had the brief advantage until Banks fought back and hit a Meteora off the apron.

Back from the break, Banks was firmly in control. Shotzi fought back and attacked the arm to take over. Banks recovered and sent Shotzi headfirst into the turnbuckle. She followed up with the double knees and the Meteora for a close near fall.

Shotzi attacked the arm again and hit the sliced bread for a near fall. Shotzi continued to target the arm and threw Banks into the ring post. She followed up with the ball pit, but Banks rolled to the floor.

Banks recovered and locked on the Bank Statement for the win. After the match, Banks and Shotzi shook hands, but Banks then hit the backstabber. Banks walked off and noted to Sonya Deville that she shook her hand.

In the back, Paul Heyman told Roman Reigns it’s time to head to the ring. Reigns told The Usos to stay in the back.

They promoted Xia Li’s upcoming debut with an awesome comic book-style video. It told the story of Li’s father being the family protector until his death. The landlord was harassing the family, so Li took up her father’s role and beat up the landlord. This was similar to the short animated segment from Kill Bill Vol.1.

Kayla Braxton interviewed Toni Storm about joining Team SmackDown. They recapped Storm challenging Charlotte Flair last week. Storm demanded a title shot and mocked Flair. Flair approached and promised to deal with Storm after she defeats Becky Lynch on Sunday.

Roman Reigns-King Xavier Woods Confrontation

This was a good closing segment featuring Big E’s surprise appearance.

King Woods came to the ring. Woods noted The Usos interfered last week because Reigns can’t beat Woods on his own. Woods called out Reigns to prove him wrong.

Reigns walked to the ring with Paul Heyman. They stopped in front of the ring, and Heyman looked to the back. He called for the Usos, and Reigns smiled. However, The Usos didn’t come out.

Suddenly, Jey and Jimmy went flying out of the entrance. Woods stood in the ring with his arms crossed and a huge smile across his face. Big E’s music hit to a big pop from the fans. Big E and Reigns ran at each other and brawled around ringside.

Woods and Big E hugged in the ring and beat down Reigns together. The Usos recovered and ran into the ring, but Big E hit the Big Ending on both. Woods followed up with a dive wiping the Usos out. Reigns jumped back in and hit the Superman Punch on Big E.

Reigns set up for the spear, but Big E caught him in the Big Ending. Reigns slipped out the back and ran off. Big E posed in the ring with the WWE Championship while Reigns held up the Universal title in the aisle to end SmackDown.

On Raw earlier this week, Nikki A.S.H. defeated Tamina and Ripley defeated Natalya in singles matches.

Hardy unsuccessfully challenged for Priest’s title on Raw this past Monday.

Natalya returns to action on WWE SmackDown

Image: WWE

After just three weeks out of action, Natalya returned to the ring on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina lost a non-title match against Shotzi & Tegan Nox on SmackDown tonight. Natalya tried to put the Sharpshooter on Shotzi during the match, but Shotzi kicked her away and then rolled her up to get the win.

This was Natalya’s first match since suffering an ankle injury while she and Tamina were facing Eva Marie & Doudrop in a tag team match on the July 26 episode of Raw. Natalya underwent surgery for the injury, but Dave Meltzer reported that she was only expected to be out of action for a few weeks.

“The deal with Natalya, her injury and her fast comeback after surgery is basically this. In the tag match with Natalya & Tamina vs. Eva Marie & Doudrop, when Doudrop landed badly and trapped Natalya’s ankle, a ligament snapped in half, but there was no ankle break,” Meltzer wrote. “She had a very progressive surgery in Alabama from someone who specializes in ankle surgery and basically had a simulated ligament put in to replace the snapped ligament which will enable her to recover in a few weeks.”

Natalya & Tamina have been WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions since defeating Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler for the titles this May.

Shotzi & Nox also defeated Natalya & Tamina in two non-title matches last month.

Natalya expects to return from ankle surgery in ‘under a month’

Natalya provided an update regarding her recent injury.

On the Table Talk podcast, Natalya talked about her ankle injury, saying she hoped to return to in-ring action in the next month.

“I am two days away from running on the treadmill, so I’m very excited about that. I had screws and stuff drilled into my bone,” she said. “There were no broken bones, but it needed surgery. For some weird reason, I didn’t feel any pain. And I think it was because we were with fans….hopefully soon. For me, just to be totally transparent, the surgery was Friday. I was walking with no crustches three days later.”

“I probably have another week before I get my stitches out,” she added. “I’ve gotta let my bone heal a little bit. But probably in the next little bit, probably under a month, we’ll see, obviously I still have to get a doctor’s clearance.”

Natalya injured her knee in a match that took place on the July 26 episode of Raw. She teamed with Tamina to take on Eva Marie and Doudrop. During the course of the match, Doudrop rolled over Natalya’s leg, causing the injury that required surgery.
