Any fallout from a strange incident at a Sunday WWE live event in Sacramento, California, involving Natalya is said to be resolved, according to our Dave Meltzer.
As has been the case on recent live events, Natalya was working against SmackDown Women’s Champion Morgan and Ronda Rousey in a three-way for the title. In the clip seen below from Sunday, Morgan hit her finisher on Natalya and got the pin. Natalya then sprung up, pointed at Morgan, said something, and immediately rolled out of the ring.
Inaceptable departe de Natalya. No se porque la siguen utilizando teniendo tanto roster femenino en proceso de construcción. #wwe#LivMorganpic.twitter.com/aiiiIrQlQ3
Natalya later addressed it on Twitter, saying, “I’m breaking character right now, but I actually said THANK YOU. If you must know” before deleting the tweet.
On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said “there was an issue. It had nothing to do with Liv Morgan at all.”
While he didn’t have the specifics, he said it was cleared up that night and is “over and done with.” He said that while Natalya was mad, there are no issues between them. Even though Rousey was involved in the match, she wasn’t mentioned during Meltzer’s explanation.
On Monday, Natalya replied to another outlet’s story on the match, saying:
A SmackDown Women’s title match is now set for WWE Money in the Bank.
On tonight’s SmackDown, it was confirmed that Ronda Rousey will defend the championship against Natalya in Las Vegas on July 2. A number one contender’s match was held last week on SmackDown, where Natalya defeated Aliyah, Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Xia Li, and Shayna Baszler in a six-pack match.
This week’s SmackDown had Rousey coming out to discuss the upcoming match, saying that her mom taught her the armbar while Natalya stole the sharpshooter from her uncle, Bret Hart. Shotzi came out and after an argument, the two had a match, with Rousey winning. However, Natalya attacked Rousey after the match, putting her in a sharpshooter, with Rousey refusing to tap out.
Here is the lineup so far for Money in the Bank, which takes place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas:
Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley for the Raw Women’s Championship
Ronda Rousey vs. Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, with Lacey Evans qualifying
Natalya is the new number one contender to the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Natalya won a six-pack challenge on this week’s SmackDown to become the number one contender to Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s title. No date has been set for Rousey’s next title defense.
The six-pack challenge also involved Shotzi, Aliyah, Shayna Baszler, Xia Li, and Raquel Rodriguez, with Natalya pinning Shotzi to become the number one contender.
Rousey has held the SmackDown Women’s title since defeating Charlotte Flair in an I Quit match at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8. Her only defense since winning the Championship came on the May 13 SmackDown, where she defeated Rodriguez to retain after issuing an open challenge.
Natalya has held the SmackDown Women’s title on one occasion in her career, holding the Championship for 86 days in 2017. She won the title from Naomi at SummerSlam in August of that year, then dropped it to Charlotte Flair on SmackDown in November 2017.
Two matches have been announced for tonight’s Hell in a Cell go-home edition of SmackDown.
The Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles will be on the line as The Usos defend against Riddle & Shinsuke Nakamura tonight. Riddle & Nakamura earned the title shot by defeating The Usos by disqualification on Raw this Monday.
The Usos got themselves disqualified in Monday’s non-title match when they attacked Riddle with his own scooter.
The Usos became the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions when they defeated Riddle & Randy Orton in a title unification match on SmackDown two weeks ago. Following that match, there was an angle where Roman Reigns and The Usos attacked Riddle and Orton. Orton hasn’t appeared on WWE television since then.
It’s also been announced that there will be a six-pack challenge on SmackDown tonight. The winner will become the number one contender to Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya, Shayna Baszler, Xia Li, Shotzi, and Aliyah will be the participants in the six-pack challenge.
WWE’s announcement didn’t confirm when the winner will be getting their title shot against Rousey.
