JNPO: All the AEW hot takes you could possibly handle

Image: AEW

It’s November and the air has turned a bit chillier here in the Northeast U.S. That why I brought out the hot takes machine on a new Josh Nason’s Punch Out.

AEW pay-per-view previewer/columnist Mike DellaCamera returns to help me work through a list of likes, dislikes and general observations about All Elite Wrestling.

Some of those include:

  • The lack of legit challengers for the AEW World title
  • Why long TBS title reigns kinda suck
  • A desire for more distinct tiers of talent
  • The need for an all hands on deck mindset
  • A hope for whenever Kenny Omega’s final AEW run is
  • Things AEW fans just have to deal with…and more.

One million dollar trios match added to AEW Full Gear

All Elite Wrestling has announced its first-ever million-dollar match.

Midway through tonight’s November 1st edition of Fright Night Collision, fans witnessed the announcement of a high-stakes match for Full Gear. Following The Young Bucks’ failed opportunity to earn a World tag-title shot, the duo were recently presented with the opportunity earn $1 million.

On Saturday’s Fright Night Collision, Don Callis presented the former EVPs with a lucrative offer they couldn’t refuse. He set up a million-dollar trios match for AEW Full Gear, featuring the team of The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander against Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) and Kenny Omega.

Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks have been on a disappointing run since losing their EVP status at All In and are currently on a mission to earn their money back. Losing both their power and financial standing, the brothers have been determined to make a comeback for some time now.

Interestingly, the duo won $500,000 in September, which they later squandered in a casino. The Young Bucks also faced Jurassic Express at WrestleDream for a $500,000 cash prize, but came up short in that match as well.

AEW Full Gear 2025 updated match card

Set to take place on November 22nd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, All Elite Wrestling have currently announced five matches for the show. With still several weeks left before the PPV, here are five advertised bouts:

  • “Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs. Samoa Joe – AEW World Championship
  • Kris Statlander (c) vs. Mercedes Moné – AEW Women’s World Championship
  • Brodido (Bandido and Brody King) (c) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) – AEW World Tag-Team Championship
  • Kenny Omega and Jurassic Express (Jack Perry and Luchasaurus) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) and Josh Alexander – Trios match for $1 million cash prize
  • Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall vs. RPG Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta)

Trios title match part of AEW Dynamite & Collision three-hour block

A bevy of matches and segments have been announced for the upcoming AEW Dynamite & Collision three-hour event this Wednesday.

The Trios titles will be on the line as The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata) will defend against three members of La Faccion Ingobernable. After the latter got the win against MXM on Saturday, Katsuyori Shibata cut a promo saying they won against a “trio of clowns.” He issued the challenge for Kansas City.

Kenny Omega will also be in trios action, teaming up with unlikely partners in Jurassic Express to take on Josh Alexander, Hechicero, and the returning Mark Davis. Jack Perry met Kenny Omega backstage during Collision and told Omega that while he knows he doesn’t trust him, they have the same enemies and he has Omega’s back. Omega responded by reminding Perry that it was him that exacerbated his diverticulitis injuries and while he doesn’t trust him nor does he have his back, he is running low on friends.

Other matches announced include The Hurt Syndicate taking on GOA ahead of a trios match at WrestleDream, Claudio Castagnoli taking on Roderick Strong, Skye Blue taking on Jamie Hayter, and Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia teaming together to take on Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly.

Segments announced for Wednesday include Jon Moxley and Darby Allin having a face-to-face ahead of their I Quit match at WrestleDream. Kris Statlander and Toni Storm will also share “famous last words” before their title match next Saturday.

Here is the updated card for the three-hour edition of Dynamite & Collision:

Gail Kim: Kenny Omega’s tweet toward me was ‘very derogatory’

Image: AEW

Gail Kim has been in the spotlight the past few weeks for her comments on X about former AEW Women’s World Champion Riho and in a new interview, she addressed one of her higher profile critics: Kenny Omega.

The issues began when she responded to fans on X regarding a clip of Jim Cornette speaking about Riho. Offering her own take, Kim said on X she felt uncomfortable while previously watching her matches due to the camera work feeling improper and Riho being dressed “like a very little girl.” She also said that Riho’s size makes it hard to believe she would be competitive in a division with larger women.

Omega seemingly responded to that opinion on X, posting “Another day and another ‘legend’ doing the splits on it for the yearly TKO gift basket…”

Kim later responded to Omega’s post, writing “If you’re trying to beat around the bush and misinterpret things like the rest of the yahoos, let me clarify that you are wrong.”

In talking on the Huge Pop podcast Thursday, one of the hosts brought up when wrestlers get involved in those online conversations and the topic of Omega came up. Kim said Omega should have just mentioned her, tagged her or direct messaged her so there was no ambiguity to who he was addressing.

She later said what Omega wrote about her was “very derogatory.”

“…He was probably reading things online and believing the AEW fans who twisted all the messaging, in my opinion, I don’t know. Maybe he did read my original answer. But, to say I do the (splits)… I didn’t even know what that meant at first. I’m like, ‘What do you mean I do the splits for TKO?’ I’m like, ‘What is he talking about?’”

During the interview, she reiterated her comments were not about Riho specifically, but her lack of comfort with a segment she had watched when AEW first started. She said she doesn’t watch AEW currently, but supports several wrestlers there.

She said she’d be happy to have open conversations about her comments, but being asked to apologize by some critics like Dave Meltzer “is just ridiculous.”

Kim also said she and GCW owner Brett Lauderdale made amends after her X comments about deathmatches and an A24-produced documentary about them that Lauderdale responded to. She admitted she didn’t know a documentary was being made, and that she has never been a fan of that kind of match.

Kenny Omega returning to action on AEW Dynamite

After being taken out by TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher in early-September, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will return to the ring as part of this Wednesday’s anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite.

Announced during Saturday’s Collision, Omega will join reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido to take on the Young Bucks and Josh Alexander.

Brody King revealed the news in a backstage promo.

Omega was stretchered out due to Fletcher’s attack following an eight-man tag team match on the September 3 Dynamite — a bout that also included the Bucks and Alexander.

Former teammates in The Elite, Omega and the Bucks have been at odds for more than a year following Matt & Nick Jackson aligning with Kazuchika Okada who took Omega out in storyline.

Kenny Omega responds to report about planned time off from AEW

Image: AEW

AEW star Kenny Omega took to X Thursday night to respond to a Thursday report about taking time off that will include this month’s AEW All Out.

Fightful Select had reported that Omega being taken out on a stretcher at the conclusion of Wednesday’s Dynamite (seen above) was writing him off TV for a while due to a planned break, one that includes a trip to Japan.

Omega took umbrage with the report, responding with the following while also not denying he is going to be out of action:

“Time off? Specialized hospital visits and work that had been planned for a year, but sure, let’s bait the trolls. I’m just trying to improve what I can and represent the company in a positive way while not performing. Don’t be misleading with headlines, please and thank you.”

Part of that planned work would appear to be at the Tokyo Game Show as Fightful report. It’s unknown when the former AEW World Champion might return.

Top star reportedly not planned for AEW All Out

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite angle that saw former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega taken out on a stretcher following an attack from Kyle Fletcher was done to write him off for quite some time which includes this month’s All Out.

Fightful Select reported that news Thursday, adding that has been the plan “for quite a while” with the main reason being planned time off that includes a trip to Japan for the Tokyo Game Show. The outlet noted the break is not injury-related as any pain Omega experiences now is to be expected.

If accurate, it would mark the second straight All Out Omega will have missed after being out nearly the entirety of 2024 recovering from various injuries and surgeries including for diverticulitis.

Omega returned to action in January against Gabe Kidd at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty and has competed 12 times this year overall. Since May, he has wrestled just once a month, primarily in tag team matches or multi-man bouts.

Current AEW All Out card | Toronto, Canada | Saturday, September 20

  • Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Riho
  • The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, MVP & Bobby Lashley) vs. Ricochet and the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)

Kenny Omega gives encouraging update on health status

Kenny Omega doesn’t want fans to worry about his health status.

Concern over Omega’s health was raised on Friday following a line written by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. In the new issue, Meltzer questioned if AEW will be able to sustain the high level of match quality its had in 2025 going forward with Will Ospreay “likely out for a long time,” Swerve Strickland “out for some time,” and Omega “battling very serious pain.”

Omega is assuring fans that he’ll be fine, though. He sent out a tweet this afternoon telling fans not to worry about him.

“Everybody is in some way, right?,” Omega wrote in response to the claim that he’s battling serious pain. “Let’s not worry about me, we got work to do next week! I’ll be fine.”

Omega was recently part of the Lights Out steel cage match in the main event of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Next Wednesday on Dynamite, he’ll be teaming up with Hangman Page, “Speedball” Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight in an All-Star eight-man tag match against Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks.

At the start of 2025, Omega returned to the ring after missing all of last year following a bout with diverticulitis.

All-star tag team match announced for next AEW Dynamite

After one eight-man all-star tag team match on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite involving the Don Callis Family, another such match has been made for next week.

On one side will be Kenny Omega, JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) and AEW World Champion Hangman Page while on the other will be TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander and the Young Bucks.

This comes after Callis told Page that he wants the World title back in his Family and it was just a question of who was going to take it from him. Hechicero, Alexander, Rocky Romero and Lance Archer then came out to surround the ring and attack Page which led to Knight and Bailey coming out to help.

Romero then took out JetSpeed with a baton which led to Omega making an appearance to clean house as JetSpeed came back to life. He and Page then hit a combo V-Trigger and Buckshot lariat on Archer before embracing for the first time in years.

On Wednesday, AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, Hechicero and Alexander defeated AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) and JetSpeed ahead of the aforementioned Page promo.

It’s the first and only match announced for next Wednesday’s show from Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.
