Indie promotion cancels Joey Ryan booking following backlash

An indie promotion attempting to revive Portland Wrestling has canceled its booking of Joey Ryan after receiving backlash.

The “Portland Wrestling: Reborn” event is scheduled for August 23 in Vancouver, Washington. It was announced that Ryan — who has been out of wrestling since being accused of sexual assault and harassment during the #SpeakingOut movement of 2020 — would be making his return at the show. However, that’s no longer happening and the entire event is in jeopardy of being canceled.

“I have canceled Joey Ryan’s flight,” the promotion announced. “He will not be appearing at the August 23rd show.”

The person behind the Portland Wrestling revival said it’s highly likely the show will not take place anymore, blaming another Pacific Northwest wrestling group for threatening to blackball anyone who was going to work it.

“Prestige Wrestling’s promoter threatened to black ball every wrestler, trainer, and ring crew member who works with me, causing multiple wrestlers to drop out of the show and even the guy I was renting the ring from canceled the rental,” Portland Wrestling wrote. “We currently do not have a ring for a show taking place in less than three weeks.”

Prestige Wrestling is holding a show in Portland on August 23, which was announced as a counter to this event that was going to feature Joey Ryan. The Prestige show is billed as “a night of safe space pro-wrestling action, for the scene, by the scene that helped cultivate modern day Portland wrestling.” Fans can pay whatever price they want for tickets with all profits being donated to charity.

Explaining why he booked Ryan in the first place, the Portland Wrestling promoter wrote: “He was very reasonably priced, he hadn’t worked the area since like 2014, local guys wanted to work him, and it was an opportunity for him to move past the mustache gimmick that I never cared for anyway.”

Tickets for the Reborn show are still on sale despite the potential cancellation.

Joey Ryan fired from Jungle Cruise job at Disneyland

Disgraced former wrestler Joey Ryan was fired from his job at Disneyland in California.

The L.A. Times reported the news Wednesday that Ryan (Joseph Meehan) had worked for three months on the Jungle Cruise attraction on a probationary period. Park officials declined to hire him for a full-time role, but also declined to say why.

However, the news comes days after a picture of Ryan working on the ride went viral:

From the Times piece headlined ‘Disneyland employed a professional wrestler accused of sexual harassment:’

“Mr. Meehan is no longer employed by us,” a Disneyland spokesperson said, declining to elaborate on why he was not given a permanent job and whether the harassment allegations played a role in that decision.

Officials did say that their screening process includes a criminal background check, but that it did not alert them about the harassment accusations against him.

In the summer of 2020 as part of the #SpeakingOut movement, Ryan was accused of sexual assault and harassment by a multitude of women. He was fired from Impact Wrestling and also shut down his Bar Wrestling indie group amidst attempts to apologize, explain and rationalize his behavior. He hasn’t wrestled since the early summer of 2020.

He later filed a $10 million lawsuit against Impact and $15 million lawsuits against three accusers. All of the suits were dismissed or dropped by Ryan, but as the Times pointed out, Ryan’s attorney has filed a federal case regarding one that was thrown out due to an anti-SLAPP statute “which can be used to prevent powerful entities from intimidating critics for practicing free speech.”

Charitable wrestling show canceled due to Joey Ryan involvement

A March wrestling event designed to raise money for a charity was canceled Tuesday after it became public that indie wrestler and former Bar Wrestling owner Joey Ryan was involved.

The Wrestling 4 Women’s Charity show in Knoxville, TN, was scheduled for March 20th featuring AEW wrestlers Brian Cage and Sonny Kiss, Impact Wrestling’s Trey Miguel, 2 Cold Scorpio, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and JTG among others. A poster circulated on the event’s Twitter account Tuesday where Ryan could be seen on the poster.

Based on the page to buy tickets, it would appear Bar Wrestling was actually promoting the show, using a new email address for the charity.

That led AEW owner Tony Khan to say on Twitter that he would remove talent from the event if Ryan were involved, but would still donate to the charity. That offer also came into question with Khan asking if the charity was even real.

Soon thereafter, the group announced on their now deleted Twitter account that they were canceling the whole show while implying they did nothing wrong:

“We apologize for riling everyone up. It is clear that we’re in over our heads. We’ll say that everybody booked was fully aware of all details including going through AEW’s 3rd party booking system for talent. Rather than put talent in a tough situation, we’ve canceled the show.”

At one point, the event had been announced as airing on FITE TV. However, the organization said on Twitter that they were not carrying the event.

Coming out of last summer’s #SpeakingOut movement, Ryan was accused by multiple women of sexual assault. He is attempting to fight some of those charges in court as he has several lawsuits going. Ryan was released from Impact Wrestling (who he is suing) following the allegations and was edited off all previous episodes of Being The Elite that he was involved in.

Joey Ryan files $10 million breach of contract lawsuit against Impact

Joey Ryan’s run of recent lawsuits has continued.

PWInsider first reported Tuesday that Ryan (Joe Meehan) filed a $10 million lawsuit against Impact Wrestling’s parent company Anthem Sports & Entertainment in mid-September, alleging breach of contract for firing him due to allegations of both sexual abuse and assault.

Anthem has until Saturday, October 24th to respond to the suit that was filed in Nashville, TN. We have reached out for comment to both Impact and Anthem but haven’t not received a response.

Ryan’s contract ran through August 2021 and Impact released him on June 22nd. Based on language in the contract regarding warning and reprimands, he claims they needed to inform of him of any issue in writing along with a “5 day cure period” as it states in the contract.

According to the contract language, if nothing could be worked out by the wrestler in five days, he and Impact would then have 30 days to resolve any issues. At that point, Impact could have terminated the deal another 30 days after that if there was still unresolvable issues.

The $10 million sought is in addition to legal fees and other “relief” that a court may find in his favor.

This comes after Ryan filed multi-million lawsuits against several accusers that emerged during the #SpeakingOut movement earlier this year. PWInsider noted he has filed six lawsuits.

Joey Ryan files $15+ million lawsuit against three #SpeakingOut accusers

Following his exodus from the pro wrestling world following an litany of sexual harassment and assault allegations against him, Joey Ryan has filed a lawsuit against three of his accusers, asking for an excess of $15 million in damages.

First reported by Heel By Nature, Ryan is claiming lost revenues of $8000-$10,000 in monthly wrestling bookings; $1000+ in monthly Twitch revenue; $500 in monthly Cameo revenue; $3000 in monthly Patreon revenue; $1000 in monthly merchandise revenue; and $3500 in monthly revenue from Bar Wrestling. Additionally, Ryan is claiming he has lost social media followers and has seen a substantial decrease in his various social media followings.

Ryan (Joe Meehan) filed the suit in the U.S. District and Central Court of California on Thursday, September 24th. He is claiming the three women named in the suit made false allegations which resulted in his reputation being damaged, leading to his financial loss.

His Instagram is still active but hasn’t been updated since June while his Patreon has continued to remain active.

From the three women, he is asking for $200,000 each for “economic damages” multiplied by the amount of months since June 21st; $5 million from each in non-economic damages, and punitive damages of $10 million due to “malice, hatred, ill will, and despicable and intentional acts.” He is also asking for a permanent injunction on the three from making any defamatory statements in the future; to retract past statements made against him; and for them to delete any defamatory statements from anywhere they posted them.

As part of the #SpeakingOut movement this summer, Ryan (Joe Meehan) was accused by a variety of women of various forms of sexual assault and harassment. After attempts to apologize and rationalize his behavior were rebuffed, he deactivated his Twitter account and shut down Bar Wrestling. He was subsquently fired from Impact Wrestling as well. He released a one hour video on YouTube further attempting to tell his side of the story, but he later deleted it.

June 29, 2020 Observer Newsletter: #SpeakingOut continues, WWE COVID-19 outbreak

The Pro Wrestling industry in Europe and North America, an industry that has had a male-dominated culture since its inception, was rocked to the core by women this past week with story after story of abuse with names from every significant promotion.

The U.K. scene was hit the hardest, but there were allegations against significant names in every promotion.

When the week was over, Joey Ryan was accused by so many women of inappropriate sexual actions that people lost count (there were at least 16 stories that had come out), and was not only fired by Impact, closed down his Southern California promotion, Bar Wrestling, and it’s hard to believe that his career in pro wrestling isn’t over. His closest friends were shocked, saying they had no idea and many people who knew him as these revelations came out went into some deep depression and soul-searching trying to process the information. One person close to everyone on the Southern California scene said that Ryan’s entire life was wrestling and that nobody had any contact with him since 6/21, and also noted that probably very few tried to get in contact with him either.

Impact Wrestling fires Joey Ryan & Dave Crist, suspends Michael Elgin

In the latest development as a result of the #SpeakingOut movement, Impact Wrestling announced Monday night that Joey Ryan and Dave Crist are no longer with the company while Michael Elgin has been suspended.

Impact released the following statement to the Observer:

“Impact Wrestling confirms that it has terminated its contracts with Dave Crist and Joey Ryan, effective immediately. In addition, it has suspended Michael Elgin pending further review of allegations of misconduct.”

This follows a Friday statement where Impact’s parent company Anthem Sports & Entertainment said they were reviewing all incidents.

Elgin was scheduled to compete for the company’s world title at July’s Slammiversary in a five-way intergender match featuring champion Tessa Blanchard, Eddie Edwards, Ace Austin, and Trey Miguel, while PWInsider reported that the six-man tag between Cancel Culture (Ryan, Rob Van Dam, Jacob Crist) vs. Crazzy Steve and two mystery partners has been edited off Tuesday’s edition of Impact.

Earlier Monday, it was reported that Ryan’s Bar Wrestling has been shut down as its owner was accused of sexual assault and harassment by several women over the past few days. After apologizing and attempting to explain his personal situation went over poorly on social media, Ryan deactivated his Twitter account as well as Bar Wrestling’s. Crist and Elgin have yet to comment publicly about the accusations of abusive treatment to women in the industry.

MONDAY NEWS UPDATE

Bryan and I will be back tonight talking about the darkest week in wrestling history, as well as Raw, New Japan Cup and other news. You can send questions to the show to [email protected]

It certainly appears Joey Ryan and Dave Crist are done with Impact. Ryan was in a match taped for tomorrow night’s show and that will probably be his last appearance with the promotion. I think there’s really no choice there.

Jim Cornette on the Drive Thru gave his side of the story regarding the claims against him and his wife. The irony of some aspects of this between Jim talking about people bullying his wife given some of the stuff he’s done, and people talking about her looks after what he said about Dana Brooke is on one side, and also the people bullying his wife and talking about her looks regarding aspects of a story, some of which regarding statements about the athletic commission and the timeline of Cornette’s involvement in OVW having ended years before the guy in question ever came to Louisville that are clearly bullshit just weeks after Hana Kimura is sad.

Florida Surgeon General Scott Rivkees has recommended that everyone in the state wear masks when outside their home unless eating or exercising due to COVID-19. AEW is taping on Wednesday and WWE tapes on Friday. Tonight’s Raw was taped this past Wednesday before the Orange County order came into being.

Progress has made changes in management has Glen Robinson and Matt Richards are leaving and James Amner, Lucy Cave, Vickie Haskins and Michael Oku are now involved as management. Most of the top guys with the promotion have had ties with them being mentioned in different stories including Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin, David Starr, Scotty Davis, El Ligero and referee Marc Perry. Richards has not been accused of anything but said he has fallen out of love with wrestling.

There is no Being the Elite this week. That is due to all the things that have come out. Kenny Omega tweeted about it briefly but it is over some realization that the business they were trying to change for the better is in some cases and places a lot worse than we all realized. I think there is a realization that some of the comedy skits from the past that were fine then look bad now, particularly with Joey Ryan.

WWE

  • Raw tonight is being called championship Monday with Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair for the women’s title, Bayley & Sasha Banks vs. The Iiconics for the women’s tag titles, Street Profits vs. Viking Raiders for the men’s tag titles, R-Truth vs. Akira Tozawa and the Ninjas for the 24/7 title plus Ric Flair appears to anoint Randy Orton the greatest wrestler of all-time, Rey Mysterio confronts Seth Rollins and Edge talks about his future.  That sounds like a show that should do well above usual ratings.

Additionally, the promotion’s video library is no longer available on the Highspots Network.

After initial accusations surfaced, Ryan posted a lengthy message on his Twitter account, apologizing for invading people’s personal space. After that message was posted, a number of womenposted on Twitter allegations of sexual assault and harassment. Ryan has since deactivated his Twitter account, as well as the Bar Wrestling account.

Ryan primarily works for Impact Wrestling, who have not commented on these specific allegations.

Bar Wrestling has not run any shows since March 11 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had been running shows in the Los Angeles area since 2017.

Impact Wrestling results: Sami Callihan’s championship celebration

Impact returns from the St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada for the first episode in the Sami Callihan world championship reign. Opening video recapped Callihan winning the title, Ace Austin defeating Eddie Edwards in a Street Fight, and Suzie’s debut. Twitter stream was hosted by Melissa Santos. She ran down the show along with the Twitch chat.

Show opened with Callihan and oVe celebrating Callihan’s win in some street with their posse. Callihan took a shot at Jericho’s ‘bubbly’ phrase. Callihan said, that now that he’s champion, they’re taking over everything.

Moose defeated Willie Mack

I thought this was going to be a hoss fight, but Mack went straight for the lucha ranas and reversals, sending Moose to the outside. Mack went for a Tope con Giro and just fell when Moose couldn’t catch him properly, but nonetheless, Moose sold it.

Back in the ring, Mack got a couple of running clotheslines, but Moose came back with a running dropkick to take control of the match. From here on, Moose worked over Mack’s head with punches and stomps. Moose whipped Mack from corner to corner until he hit the Go To Hell for a two count.

Moose started talking trash and smacking Mack, which woke him up, he Mack’d up, and finally came back and started trading chops with Moose. They transitioned into kicks and out of nowhere Mack hit a Stunner and a big lariat. Mack hit the Samoan drop and moonsault combo for a two count.

Mack went for the 6-Star frog splash, but Moose moved away before Mack could go for it. Moose hit the third rope and hit a Superplex on Mack, but couldn’t follow up.

Both men nipped-up, Moose hit the No Jackhammer Needed and took the win. Good opener.

Backstage, Alisha was talking with Alexia Nicole about her date tonight with Ace. She’s heads over to cancel with him, and accidentally walks into Reno Scum and Ace Austin talking about Alisha. Ace Austin said that he’s been ‘banging Alisha for weeks’ (not true) and tonight is the last night since he’s finally done messing with Eddie Edwards. Alisha FINALLY figured out what everyone already knew.

We got the commercial for the next pay-per-view, Hard To Kill, which is confirmed to take place on January 12 from Dallas, TX.

Backstage, Madison Rayne was complaining to Kiera Hogan that she got injured. Taya walked up and started talking fashion-trash about each other’s attire with Rayne. Taya complained that she was left alone last week, to which Madison tried to get herself a title shot, but Taya walked away ignoring her.

Taya walked on and now found Jordynne Grace, who claimed the title shot she deserves from pinning the champion last week. Taya told her she will actually wrestle Madison Rayne after all.

Josh Matthews ran down the card for the Impact Plus special show —  Turning Point, this upcoming Saturday. Brian Cage vs Sami Callihan rematch, Jake Crist gets his rematch versus Ace Austin, and Rhino vs Rob Van Dam.

Michael Elgin defeated Fallah Bahh

Match started with both men trading strikes and shoulder tackles. Elgin got some kicks in, but Bahh blocked them and taunted Elgin. Bahh got a couple of chops in and a kick to the gut. Bahh dropped Elgin with a scoop slam and got a one count after a headbutt.

Elgin side stepped Bahh and hit a dropkick to the back of Bahh, went for a huge Suplex, but couldn’t and instead dropped Bahh to the floor. Elgin followed with a baseball slide.

Back in the ring, Elgin hit a springboard footstomp for a one count.

Elgin and Bahh traded chops once again, with the former getting the better of the exchange. Elgin hit a running clothesline to the corner and finally got the suplex on Bahh for a two count.

Back from commercial, both men kept trading strikes and slamming each other into turnbuckles as Bahh was making his comeback. Elgin hit an exploder, but Bahh recovered and hit a desperation crossbody to drop Elgin. Bahh came back with more chops and a clothesline.

Bahh went for another crossbody, but Elgin blocked him, attempted a powerbomb, but doesn’t even come close before Bahh flips him over. Elgin tried to bring over Bahh with a sunset flip, but Bahh simply dropped with the sit-down pin for a two count. Elgin caught Bahh with a knee, superkick, and German suplex, only to get a two count.

Elgin hit a super belly-to-belly on Bahh, but Bahh fired up, only to take a clothesline and a Death Valley driver by Elgin for another one count. Bahh is on fire!

Elgin hit some strikes, but Bahh countered with a Samoan Drop and a running hip attack to the corner. Bahh hit a Rikishi Driver, but Elgin kicked out at two. Bahh went for the second rope Banzai Drop, but Elgin moved away, went to Powerbomb Bahh, but Bahh blocked him. Elgin instead pulled him over the ropes, kicked the injured arm, countered a DVD into a Crossface and finally tapped out Bahh. Awesome showing for Fallah Bahh, I wouldn’t mind seeing him in a Strong Style match one of these days.

Backstage, Ace Austin told Alisha he had great plans for tonight. Alisha told him to skip dinner and just meet her in her hotel room.

oVe arrived to the arena with beer and cake. They made fun of Jimmy Jacobs and Tommy Dreamer as they walked around the hallways. Dreamer had awesome Mantaur T-shirt.

Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week was Moose defending the Impact Grand Championship against Naomichi Marufuji. ECIII was on commentary during his happier days.

Gabbi Loren interviewed The North, who said that if they wanted, they’d have any of the championships in Impact. Page told Marufuji to get himself a partner and face them next week. Alexander put the titles on the line.

Ken Shamrock defeated Joey Ryan

Shamrock just wore workout shorts and tennis shoes to the ring, from his mannerisms, he’s not looking forward to dealing with Ryan tonight. Understandable, Ryan started the match by oiling up his chest. Joey Ryan offered Shamrock a handshake, but only gave him a high five.

Match started with a respectful collar and elbow lock up. Shamrock mostly getting the better of Ryan with some arm drags. Shamrock with a shoulder tackle, followed by a sunset flip, transitioned into the ankle lock, but Ryan got the ropes. There was dueling chants of ‘You Still Got it’ and “Touch It’.

Ryan caught Shamrock with a dropkick. Shamrock offered Ryan another handshake, but Ryan pulled his hand to his penis and hit the dick flip. Shamrock, surprised, woke up and went straight for the ankle lock, tapping out Ryan immediately. Let me repeat that — Ken Shamrock took the Dick Flip.

Backstage, oVe walked into the locker room and bullied Aiden Prince with beer. Jake Crist got into Daga’s bag and put on his vest. Daga walked up and stood up for himself. Callihan ordered Crist to give him back his vest, but the offered a spat-up beer. Callihan and Daga got face to face before Swann came in and broke the fight up, pulling Daga away.

Knockout Champion Taya Valkyrie (w/John E. Bravo) defeated Madison Rayne in a non-title match

Taya started the match literally kicking Madison’s butt, and proceeded to toss around Rayne around the ring, dropping her with a dropkick for an early two count. Taya kicked and punched Rayne, even hit the stinkface to mock Rayne.

Taya hit a big backbreaker and stomped around Rayne in the corner. She prepped for the running hip attack, but Rayne finally dodged her and got some strikes in. Rayne locked in a cravate with some kicks and turned the match around.

Back from commercial, Rayne was still in control of the match, but Bravo grabbed her foot, giving Taya the opening to retake the match. Rayne locked in an octopus hold, but Taya countered dropping her like a Celtic cross. Taya and Rayne traded some strikes before Taya landed a big spinning sky high for a two count.

Rayne hit a tornado DDT, but couldn’t follow up with the pin quickly enough. Taya hit a Pop-up Knee to the face for a two count. Taya chased the Road To Valhalla, but Rayne reversed into a roll up, Enzuigiri, and the ripcord cutter, but Bravo interrupted the pin by tossing that toy dog into the ring. The distraction gave Taya the opening to hit a huge knee to the face and the Road To Valhalla for the win. This was far better than I expected and from what we usually get with the Knockouts. I guess you could say that Rayne was kinda dumb for getting distracted by a toy.

After the match, Jordynne Grace walked down. Took out John E. Bravo on the ramp and told Taya that she was next.

Backstage, Gama Singh berated Rohit Raju and Raj Singh for embarrassing him for losing all the time. Raj tried to bring Shera into the conversation, but Gama excused him that at least he looked great at the Rumble. Gama said that Shera has gone to India on a spiritual voyage and will come back stronger. Gama then introduced his new protege — Bhupinder Singh. I love that Gama has an endless flow of talent in his stable.

Somewhere in the Undead Realm, Rosemary was talking to Suzie, blaming her for all the things Su Yung did to her for the last year. Suzie had no idea what Rosemary was talking about. Suzie kept walking and stumbles upon Havok, but also failed to recognize her.

Petey Williams defeated Bhupinder Singh (w/ Desi Hit Squad)

The referee for this match was Cameron, a double leg amputee.

Bhupinder tried jumping Petey before the bell, only for Petey to escape, hit a rana and a dropkick to Singh’s back. Bhupinder rushed Petey, but the latter dodged and sent out Bhupiknder to the outside. Petey went for a springboard rana to the outside, but Singh caught him and powerbombed him into the apron.

Back in the ring, Singh hit a couple of knees and elbows for a two count. Singh hit a backbreaker and followed with a swinging flatliner for a two count. He went for another, but Petey blocked, kicked Singh, hit a Tilt-a-whirl and transitioned out into a low Flatliner.

Petey prepped for the Canadian destroyer, but Singh caught him with a powerslam for a two count. Petey locked in the Sharpshooter and tapped out Bhupinder. I guess Gama will just send him back to India now.

After the match, Bhupinder teased attacking the referee until Petey came for the win. The referee hit a 619 on Bhupinder, followed by a Canadian Destroyer. Petey set him up for the ref Cameron to hit 450 Splash.

Ace Austin arrived at Alisha’s hotel. Alisha told Ace to get comfortable while she did the same in the bathroom. She told Ace to wear a blindfold. Ace immediately undressed down to his underwear and wore the blindfold. For the totally expected swerve, out the bathroom came Eddie Edwards, with really soft hands. Eddie beat up Ace, but when he went for the kendo stick, Alisha said she wanted to do it. Alisha chased off Ace with the Kendo Stick. Eddie and Alisha then refound their love and made out in the hallway. See, this was a lovely “marriage trouble” story that didn’t make anyone feel awkward and disgusted.

Backstage, Johnny Swinger tried to recruit Petey Williams to be his young boy. Petey told him off until oVe came down and berated both Swinger and Petey. Callihan said he was headed to the ring.

Josh Matthews announced for next week that The North defends the tag titles against Marufuji and Eddie Edwards.

Impact World Champion Sami Callihan and oVe came down to the ring. Jake Crist introduced Callihan as the new Impact World Champion. Callihan asked for a standing ovation.

Callihan said that they’ve been partying since last week because he did as he promised he would, and walked out the world champion.

Suddenly, Tommy Dreamer interrupted Callihan. Dreamer said that last week, Callihan ruined Impact’s big debut on AXS by being a bully. Dreamer put over the crowd and the roster for being the real draw of Impact. I partially disagree.

Callihan told Dreamer if he had a problem with him, to get in the ring. Dreamer called out a referee and some friends out. Pretty much the same Inner Circle vs Cody angle, but leading to a match.

Rich Swann, Tommy Dreamer, Daga and Tessa Blanchard defeated oVe (Impact World Champion Sami Callihan, Jake Crist, Dave Crist & Madman Fulton) in a Street Fight

They started the match brawling all around the ring, Tessa went straight for Jake Crist, Daga faced off with Fulton, Swann and Callihan went at it, and Dreamer hit a cutter on Dave Crist on Callihan’s cake.

Back in the ring, Jake Crist superkicked Dreamer and went for a moonsault, but Dreamer blocked him, set him in the tree of woe, and hit a Sliding Dropkick to a chair on Jake’s face. Dreamer bit Crist and went for the DDT onto a chair, but Fulton blocked him and chokeslammed Dreamer into such chair. Fulton hit the End of Days on Dreamer.

Daga came in and hit a tilt-a-whirl DDT on Fulton, top rope Missile Dropkick and sent him out of the ring.

Callihan came in and took out Daga, only to take a rana from Swann, followed by a dropkick, but once again, Callihan sent him packing.

Tessa now got in the ring and got face to face with Callihan. She went forearm strike crazy on Callihan, hit a cutter, sent Callihan to the floor, where she followed with a top rope senton on everyone.

Rich hit the top rope, only to get stopped by Fulton. Tessa somehow saved Swann by powerbombing fulton in a Tower of Doom spot. Daga hit a corkscrew to the outside, taking out most of oVe.

Callihan and Jake Crist took out Tessa in the ring, but ended up taking a double Lethal Injection by Swann. Swann missed a moonsault and Callihan went for the Cactus special, but Swann out of nowhere rolled up Callihan and pinned the champion. Not much of a match, they only had about eight minutes to feature eight people and get Swann to pin the champion, so this was all action and spots.

Final Thoughts —

Enjoyable show, went by fast. Second show after Bound For Glory and they’ve now set up two new title contenders for Taya and Callihan to go forward towards the end of the year. Michael Elgin vs Fallah Bahh is worth going out of your way to watch for sure.

Joey Ryan signs with Impact Wrestling

Joey Ryan has officially signed with Impact Wrestling.

SoCal Uncensored originally reported that Ryan had signed with Impact. Ryan later retweeted their story, confirming it.

“It made the most sense,” he wrote on Twitter. “@IMPACTWRESTLING  has been the most consistent wrestling program on TV for the past 2 years, I get to keep all of my indie dates and best of all, they let me be me.”

Ryan had previously been part of TNA between 2012 and 2013. After being released, he joined Lucha Underground in 2015 and started to appear beginning in the second season.

Earlier this year he took part in a class action lawsuit against Lucha Underground and their production company that was eventually settled, allowing him and others who were unable to get out of their contracts to leave the promotion, making them free agents once more.

Ryan teased back in May he would make an announcement about his future in pro wrestling. He later announced that he would remain as an independent wrestler.

This year’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view offered WWE the chance to revitalize one of their best match types.

Joey Ryan’s Penis Party results: A night of comedy and action

Joey Ryan has risen to fame thanks to his mastery of the dark penile arts, but now, he has to put up or shut up with an event bearing his name. Much like how Joey Janela’s Spring Break showed that there is a market for fun mixed with crazy deathmatches, the Penis Party features a mix of comedy and great workers to hopefully guarantee an enjoyable night of action.

This show was late Friday night from the New York Downtown Hilton and is available on Fite.tv.

**********

The King of Dong Style came out to start the show with Don Callis and Excalibur on commentary with a phalanx of phalluses joining him. Excalibur summed Joey up perfectly by saying that he’s great when he wants to be. Joey asked that the fans point to his penis as if it’s the WrestleMania logo and they do.

Black Taurus, Puma King and Ultimo Dragon (w/Sonny Onoo) defeated Mr. Iguana, Green Ant and Shark Boy

Iguana sent Taurus outside off a shining enzuiguri, but ate a running rana from Green Ant. Shark Boy hit an atomic drop on Green Ant and bit his butt. Puma King held onto the ropes and attacked him from there. Puma countered the ass bite with a knee to the face. Taurus took a nasty spill to the floor before eating a dive from Puma King. Dragon locked on a La Majistral cradle on Shark Boy to end it.

DJZ and Shigehiro Irie defeated Arez and Bestia

Arez and DJZ started things off quickly with Z landing a step-up rana which turned into a cradle attempt. Ire and Bestia came in and exchanged chops before Bestia and Arez landed chops on the big man for a two count. They teased a chop to Z and poked him in the eye instead before landing a double flapjack and kneeling superkick.

Irie hit a big pounce and a black hole slam before landing a cannonball. Arez hit a crazy twirling northern lights suplex on Irie for two. Z landed a corkscrew facebuster on Arez for two. Irie landed a package piledriver and acted as a catcher for a Spanish fly off the apron by Arez to Z. Irie hit a spike piledriver on Arez to Bestia to win it for his team.

Then, Tracy Smothers came down with a walking stick and danced.

Tracy Smothers defeated Su Yung

Su got a “You killed Allie” chant while Smothers insulted the fans. He demanded they don’t say “Tracy sucks” or he’ll commence to beat them all up. He then cut a promo on how Bin Laden should have taken the bridges out to doom them all. Su left and he then cut a promo on her which led to a fan cutting a promo on him. Su emerged and brought out a giant inflatable penis, seen above.

Tracy cut a promo on the guys in the first two matches for doing all his moves, so now he’s just gotta fight. Su blew mist on the penis and Tracy asked for silence while he took his garments off. He unveils the confederate flag singlet and then after 15 centuries, the match begins.

Excalibur said this had a 20 minute time limit while Callis was hoping for an hour broadway. He called this “interesting”. Tracy got some holds and some gut punches before inciting the crowd more. Su superkicked and pump kicked him. Tracy grabbed a mic and tested it while Excalibur begged for death.

Tracy cuts another promo on the fans again and wanted a scientific match to bore them to death. He made this match almost worth it by saying “There’s Andre!” and clubbing Su. He landed a series of chops, but then Su thankfully recovered and went for the glove, but the ref got smacked. Tracy hit her with a kendo stick and won.

This was certainly memorable and fittingly, he left to a chorus of middle fingers while Excalibur begged for a beer. Callis talked about how even Rosemary is stunned by what happened.

Demon Bunny (Allie and Rosemary) defeated Thunder Rosa and Holidead

Allie elbowed Holidead who responded by grabbing the tights and landing some slow motion knees and elbows. Thunder Rosa came in with Rosemary and cradled her for two. Everyone pushed each other and the faces ate a pair of low blows and responded in kind. Holidead landed a series of low kicks and elbows to Allie. She was locked in the rocking horse and kicked her before doing a forced stretch, headbutting her ass.

Rosemary thankfully came in and got two off a slingblade. Callis expressed amazement at seeing a move that doesn’t involve the crotch. Well, he’s not wrong.

Rosemary clubbed away, but missed a charge as Rosa came in. Allie came in and hit a big WE ARE ALLIE lariat. A hanging choke by Rosemary lead to a spear for two. Allie came in and got choked before the heels did double sorta stinkfaces mid-ring and then got double schoolgirled with the trunks to end it.

This may have actually been worse than the Smothers-Yung debacle, just in a different way.

Timothy Thatcher defeated David Arquette (w/DDP) by submission

Arquette’s Scream-centric gear was pretty great. Thatcher worked a bunch of holds before Arquette got the ropes and went up top. He landed a double axehandle and took a bump before Thatcher grounded him and elbowed him for two. Thatcher hit a Karelin lift for two. Thatcher grounded and pounded him with palm strikes and went for an armbar, but Arquette avoided it. But, Thatcher got a full Boston crab for the submission win.

Bill Carr defeated Detective Dan Barry in a deathmatch

Dan slugged away and hit a pump kick and a dropkick. Dan hit a tope and Carr kinda slammed him down from that. Dan threw a tissue at him, so Carr threw a streamer at him. More streamer tossing had Callis saying it’s a death match because it makes the viewers want to die. Carr grabbed a barbed wire bat, but ate it to the gut.

Carr stapled a $20 to Barry and then stapled his crotch. A door got put in the corner as Exalibur said those are actually easier to find in Jersey than tables for some reason. Barry then hit a death valley driver through the door.

Carr skewered him in the head so Barry returned the favor. They did a ram headbutt spot and the announcers talked about how now Jim Cornette really hates Dan Barry. Barry got two off a frog splash. Carr set up a door with a mouse trap bridge, but his DVD attempt got countered into a powerbomb on the door…that got 1! Carr hit a Canadian Destroyer on the door to pick up the win.

Yoshihiko the blow up doll won the DDT Heavymetalweight Title Battle Royal

Danshoku Dino started things off with a variety of crotch-related attacks before Takagi came out and got dropkicked to the floor. A Japanese girl named Yu came out and landed forearms to Mao, who just took her out. Don advised that anyone watching not try anything in this match or show.

Makoto Oshi was next. Dino went for a kiss, but missed and kissed Mao and went from some heavy groin area petting. Yu got spit at and fired up and Oshi busted his hand with a punch to the head. Yu took him out with a kokeshi to the groin.

Antonio Honda was next with the most insane singlet ever. Honda sold blowing his knee out right away and that now, he’s retiring…but first, he must tell us a fairy tale that will change the world. He demanded that everyone be still for story time, seen below. He and his finger puppet talked about going to Broadway and then he smacked around an imaginary penis and delivered the evil penis from heaven eyepoke. Honda ate a stunner and is gone. The boss hit a double AA on the young boys, because of course he does. Dino and Oshi teamed up for a wheelbarrow-assist stinkface in the corner.

Oshi got sent into Dino’s ass accidentally before the owner did too and went down to a Michinoku driver. Oshi and Dino had a double-butt butt off in the corner. Poor Yu got sandwiched between all four buttocks and was thrown out. Oshi landed a finger shove before Dino used the power of his mighty ass to do damage, but Mao landed a superkick and beat him with a 450 splash.

Oshi rolled him up and seemingly won, but didn’t. A blow up doll named Yoshihiko comes out to Undertaker’s theme. A crossbody got two before a press slam into a piledriver got two for Oshi. Yoshihiko the blow up doll got an elevated half crab to win it.

Mike Babchik, Colt Cabana and Tommy Dreamer defeated The Best Friends (Chucky and Trent?) and Matt Striker

Jerry Lynn was referee. We’ve got a Dreamer match and it involves a radio show host, so this should indeed be a thing. Colt elbowed Chucky before Trent muscled him down. Dreamer armdragged Striker before Colt landed an elbow. Trent hit a Lynn-esque legdrop to Colt and went for Lynn’s own cradle piledriver. Jerry, as the ref, bumped Trent for that one and allowed a hot tag for the faces.

Colt and Tommy landed stereo bionic elbows to the Best Friends. Striker chopped Babchik who responded with a low blow. Dreamer’s DDT hit and Babchik pinned Striker for the win.

We got a closeup of Babchik and his soiled singlet which was just lovely. The Best Friends hugged Jerry and Don buried Striker. He said they should have had penis-related nicknames tonight with Excalibur being Sexcalibur.

Johnny Penis (aka Johnny Impact) and Taya Valkyrie defeated Lucha Bros

Taya kneed Penta to start and hit a swinging DDT. She went for a dive, but Fenix kicked her. Fenix hit a run-up rana that sent Johnny to the floor. Penta came in and slingbladed Taya followed by a corner backstabber. They set up the assisted cradle piledriver, but Taya prevented it. Johnny went for the countdown elbow, but Fenix prevented it. End of the World hits alongside a spear from Taya to beat the Lucha Bros.

Val Venis came out in shorts and a shirt. He looks 50 pounds lighter with no muscle mass. Priscilla Kelly brought out a trail of tampons to the ring akin to the phalanx of penises earlier.

Session Moth Martina, Scarlett Bordeaux and Priscilla Kelly defeated Sexy Eddie, Joey Ryan and Val Venis

Joey and PK started before she tagged out to Scarlett, who grabbed his chest hair and bieled him. Martina tagged in and she wanted the D, but Joey had to play defense. Martina hurt her knee on a Manhattan drop before Sexy Eddie thrusted away on a leg lock. Matina blocked a sunset flip with a Bastion Booger drop for 2. Eddie got stuck in the clam trap and we get a finger snap. Martina landed a bronco buster, but missed a second one. Eddie used the magnetism of his penis and all of the women and the ref get shoved off of his penis, thankfully before they could pull the front of his trunks down.

Scarlett attacked with her ass before the others wanted it, so she sent her partnres in. Venis put the towel on and cut his pre-match promo mid-match, but instead swivels his hips to a “you still got it” chant. Val finally cut the promo which put Martina and Scarlett in convusions. Martina then dragged him to the back.

Priscilla got an airplane spin and teased a spew spot and punched him after spitting at him. Eddie got a drop toehold onto Joey while Val got sent into Eddie’s ass and then Priscilla went in for a nibble too. Martina did as well and then Scarlett ran in. Joey lifted everyone up for for a ring-filled dick flip. Eddie got a mouthful of excitement and then Martina and Priscilla landed disgusting claws before chopping Joey and waxing his chest.

The ladies headed to the locker room and came out as tampons. Martina dove with a tope while Scarlett hit a crossbody and Priscilla hit a flip dive. Priscilla then put an end to Joey with a super Regal cutter.

Callis summed the night up nicely: “Well, that was something!”. Joey said he can’t win on his own show and apologizes for the show, thanking the ladies for doing great.

Four Lucha Underground wrestlers released as part of settlement

Four Lucha Underground wrestlers have been given their releases after filing a lawsuit over their contracts.

Lucha Central reported last night that El Hijo del Fantasma (King Cuerno), Ivelisse, Joey Ryan, and Thunder Rosa (Kobra Moon), who were involved in a class action lawsuit against Baba-G Productions and the El Rey Network, will be immediately released and will become free agents as part of a settlement.

The class action suit and Fantasma’s separate lawsuit have also been dropped as part of the agreement. Lucha Central noted that El Texano Jr. withdrew his lawsuit prior to the settlement and is expected to remain with AAA.

Fantasma departed AAA this month.

Fantasma, Ivelisse, Ryan, and Thunder Rosa have all confirmed the news of the settlement.

“I’m honored to say that we received 100 percent of the relief that we were suing to obtain and four young talented wrestlers are no longer bound by an unfair contract that prohibits them from taking full advantage of their talents at the prime of their career,” attorney Andre Verdun told Lucha Central. “I wish them all the best of luck.”
