Latin American Championship match announced for AAA Noche de Los Grandes

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. is now all set to defend his Latin American Championship match against El Hijo del Vikingo at the upcoming AAA Noche de Los Grandes.

The May 2nd live episode of AAA on Fox began with a backstage segment featuring Dorian Roldan, El Hijo del Vikingo, and Omos.

Roldan informed Vikingo about his upcoming title match at AAA Noche de Los Grandes. On May 30th at Noche de Los Grandes, Vikingo will challenge El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. for the AAA Latin American Championship.

Wagner Jr. has held the championship since August 2025, when he defeated El Mesias and won the title. He’s had six defenses as of this writing. Vikingo was also recently involved in a title match against Dominik Mysterio at Rey de Reyes for the AAA Mega Championship, which he lost.

Also, during the opening match of the May 2nd episode of AAA on Fox, Hijo Del Vikingo faced off against Mini Vikingo, where he appeared to suffer an apparent injury and was checked out by medical after the match.

AAA Noche de Los Grandes updated lineup

The 2026 AAA Noche de Los Grandes is scheduled for May 30, 2026, at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Here are the two announced matches till now:

  • El Grande Americano vs. “The Original” El Grande Americano – Mask vs. Mask match
  • El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs. El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Latin American Championship

BVV: Super fun episodes of TNA Impact, AAA

If you like fun wrestling shows with great matches, then I have two primo suggestions for you!

We’ll start with TNA Impact, which opens with an exciting contest between Nic Nemeth and Bear Bronson, then closes with an excellent Mike Santana title defense against Rich Swann.

Mind you, it’s still TNA, so there’s also a downside—Matt Hardy looking completely immobile against Dutch and an insufferable promo segment with Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside. But what can you do?

Then it’s off to Mexico City for AAA, my favorite show every week. We get Money Machine vs. La Parka & Rey Fenix; Laredo Kid vs. Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. in a blast of total insanity; and a main event tag match that pits El Grande Americano & Texano Jr. vs. El Masias & Mecha Wolf, setting up a tremendous postmatch angle.

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. makes surprise appearance on WWE SmackDown

Lucha libre legend El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. made his main roster WWE debut on Friday night, answering Carmelo Hayes’ open challenge for the United States Championship.

As Hayes waited in the ring for his mystery opponent, Wagner’s entrance music and video began to play in the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Wagner was recognized as the reigning AAA Latin American Champion.

Viewers at home then saw an inset video package. “The most beautiful mask in the world has arrived in WWE,” Wagner said in the video. “I am Dr. Wagner the third and I am the Latin American Champion. Winning this championship represents a community, the Latin American community. Viva Mexico!”

Hayes went on to defeat Wagner, dodging a moonsault and hitting the Nothin’ But Net legdrop. The two shook hands after the match.

Wagner has wrestled several times in NXT and in co-branded WWE/AAA events in Mexico, but this was his first appearance on Raw, SmackDown, or WWE premium live events.

Many of Wagner’s relatives were luchadors, including both of his grandfathers and both of his parents. He has been wrestling since 2009, having won many championships in Mexico and also with Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan.

Latin American title match set for AAA Guerra de Titanes

A new title match is set for Guerra de Titanes.

After Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. retained the title during Sunday’s AAA Day of the Dead television taping, Ethan Page ran in and jumped Wagner from behind. He told Wagner that he already beat him in his country in front of his people, and now he was going to do it in front of Dr. Wagner’s people. He claimed he would take the Latin American title, and would see him in Guadalajara on December 20.

Backstage, Wagner reacted to the attack while Ethan Page promised to become a triple champion on social media. Earlier in the night, Page and Chelsea Green teamed together to defeat Mr. Iguana and La Hiedra to win the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles for the first time.

The two have been feuding on NXT for the last several weeks, culminating in a Day of the Dead match that took place at Halloween Havoc. Page emerged as the winner, retaining the NXT North American title.

WWE NXT No Mercy notes: Invasion, Laney Reid, Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.

Notes from Saturday’s NXT No Mercy event.

The big news coming out of No Mercy came from NXT General Manager Ava, who announced the NXT Invasion special for October 7 on The CW. Two Survivor Series-style matches will take place, one with men and the other with women. Stars from both promotions such as Myles Borne, Lash Legend, Frankie Kazarian, Moose, and Mike Santana all expressed interest in participating.

Lola Vice didn’t end up winning the NXT Women’s Championship on Saturday thanks to a masked person drilling her with a running kneestrike as she was recovering on the outside. Vice managed to enter the ring to avoid a count-out, but ended up walking into a rolling encore by Jacy Jayne, who retained the title. Earlier in the night, Laney Reid was interviewed and revealed that she was wearing a foot cast, putting her out of action. Vice ran into Lane and the two exchanged words.

Ethan Page was also victorious at No Mercy, defeating Tavion Heights to retain the North American title. As he was celebrating in the ring, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared on the video screen. He said that while Page had his eye on the AAA Latin American title, he had his eye on the NXT North American title.

The two met earlier this month at Worlds Collide, where Wagner emerged victorious in a four-way match that was for the Latin American title.

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. signs with Lucha Libre AAA

Former GHC Heavyweight Champion El Hijo de Wagner Jr. has inked a deal with Lucha Libre AAA.

At a press conference on Monday, AAA announced that Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. has signed a contract with the company. Planeta Wrestling reports that it’s a one-year deal that runs through the beginning of February 2026, and the contract allows Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. to still take independent dates in the United States as long as they don’t conflict with his AAA commitments.

Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. spent several years mostly competing for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan before departing the promotion and becoming a free agent near the start of 2025. His final NOAH match happened on January 11.

Speaking at today’s press conference, Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. called AAA the best promotion in Mexico. He had been teasing WWE as one of his potential destinations prior to today’s news.

Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. comes from a famous wrestling lineage that includes his father Dr. Wagner Jr., mother Rossy Moreno, and grandfather Dr. Wagner. His brother is NOAH wrestler Galeno del Mal.

While with NOAH, Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. held the GHC Heavyweight Championship for three months in 2024.

Sunday Update

Bryan and I will be doing a show after NXT Vengeance Day tonight talking the latest news on Vince McMahon and the other major stories and shows from the weekend.

I was on with Ashleigh Banfield on Friday night on NewsNation and she really went off on Vince McMahon and others associated with TKO.

Whatever it was at first, the Cody Rhodes situation is now an angle with Logan Paul and Ricochet both tweeting about it using the hashtag. Literally not one wrestler on the roster tweets a thing about Vince McMahon, who isn’t even with the company, but people are going to tweet negatively about “WWE booking?” Obviously the idea is to recreate the Daniel Bryan situation at this point. As far as what they can or will do, there are so many different possibilities it’s endless. Brian Gewirtz tweeted “You all have no idea.”

Interestingly the secondary market get-in price for day two of Mania was $293 before Smackdown started on Friday and it was $243 at this writing.

Vengeance Day at 8 p.m. Eastern on Peacock

  • Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin in the Dusty Rhodes tournament final
  • Dijak vs. Joe Gacy no DQ
  • Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne Perez for the NXT women’s title
  • Oba Femi vs Dragon Lee for the North American title
  • Tony D’Angelo & Stacks Lorenzo & Adriana Rizzo vs. Bronco Nima & Lucien Price & Jaida Parker
  • Ilja Dragunov vs. Williams for the NXT title

On paper it doesn’t look like one of the better NXT shows but the Williams matches should be good and Dijak vs. Gacy could be a surprise. The show is from Clarksville, TN. They had 3,600 tickets out as of earlier today.

We’re looking for your thoughts on the show so you can leave a thumbs up, down or middle, along with a best and worst match to [email protected]

PWInsider reported that Thea Hail, Riley Osborne, Jacy Jayne and Tatum Paxley traveled to the show. The first three would be involved with something Chase U related and Paxley would be predicted to get involved in the Valkyria vs. Perez match.

We’re also looking for reports from the WWE show tonight in Corbin, KY, results, finishes and highlights to [email protected]

Nothing this week, not new items relating to Vince McMahon nor anything related to Dwayne Johnson doing WrestleMania cracked the Google top 20s this week. Nor did anything related to yesterday’s UFC show. Joe Rogan was No. 16 Saturday regarding his signing a new contract with Spotify with 20,000 searches. The death of Carl Weathers on Friday was No. for the day with 2 million searches.

The movie “Argyle,” where John Cena is one of the stars, was No. 1 at the movie box office this weekend with a predicted total of $18 million. Nothing was close. Iron Claw has largely disappeared from theaters. Apple Original Films paid $200 million for the rights so this number was viewed very poorly.

WWE house show last night in Knoxville, TN:

  • LA Knight b Jimmy Uso after the BFT
  • AJ Styles b Austin Theory with the forearm
  • Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark b Ivy Nile & Maxxine Dupri when Baszler choked out Dupri
  • Omos b Akira Tozawa in the same match they always do
  • Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa b Giovanni Vinci & Ludvig Kaiser when Gargano pinned Kaiser
  • Bianca Belair & Shotzi & Zelina Vega b Iyo Sky & Asuka & Kair Sane when Belair pinned Asuka with the KOD. Belair grew up in Knoxville so got a huge reaction.
  • Ricochet b Jinder Mahal with a shooting star press
  • Gunther b Chad Gable to retain the IC title
  • Cody Rhodes b Shinsuke Nakamura in a street fight with Cross Rhodes. Rhodes did a promo after the show. He never mentioned Rock or Roman Reigns, just gave away a piece of the table broken and asked fans to please come back the next time they were in town. Backstage they shot an angle where Nakamura attacked Rhodes.

They did show clips before the show started from Smackdown and Rock was booed heavily in the clips.

Matches I’m told that are worth going out of your way to see this weekend are Hazuki vs. Mei Seira for the High Speed title on today’s Stardom show and the Gabe Kidd vs. Henare match from today’s New Japan show. Was also told the Will Ospreay-Michael Oku face-to-face today to build their 2/28 match was incredible. Said that Amira was awesome as well. Trent Seven vs. Conor Mills from that show was also great. (thanks to Doug Hunt and many others)

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. beat Kenoh today to win the GHC title. In the history of Japanese wrestling, no Mexican had ever won a world heavyweight title for a major Japanese company until Luis Mante just recently won the Dragon Gate Open the Dream Gate belt. Now we’ve got two.

Jeff Cobb was off today’s New Japan show where he was to face Alex Coughlin. He has a thigh injury. It’s serious enough to miss a show but he is hopeful of being able to be in the United Empire vs. Bullet Club War Dogs cage match this coming Sunday in Osaka.

Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney regained the IWGP Jr. tag titles from TJP & Francesco Akira on today’s Korakuen Hall show with the Kidd vs. Henar match. Moloney worked the show with a torn biceps he suffered two days ago.

Nikki Garcia (Bella) will be live at the Grammys after party.

Dorrell Dixon, one of the all-time legends of Lucha Libre who was also an early 60s star in the U.S. as a rival of world champion Buddy Rogers, celebrated his 90th birthday earlier this week. Wikipedia may have his date of birth wrong.

A documentary “This is Brodie Lee” put together by Joe Brandt of Classy Wolf Media premiered on Friday on Vimeo.com.

United Wrestling Coalition on 2/10 in New Egypt, NJ at the American Legion.

Los Parks vs. Wagners set for MLW Kings of Colosseum

Dr. Wagner Jr. and LA Park will be facing off in a tag match when Wagner makes his MLW debut next month.

Wagner & El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Park & El Hijo de LA Park has been announced for MLW’s television tapings in Cicero, Illinois on Saturday, July 6. The tapings are being called “Kings of Colosseum” and are taking place at Cicero Stadium.

MLW announced earlier this week that Dr. Wagner Jr. and Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. would be debuting at Kings of Colosseum. LA Park and Hijo de LA Park are regulars for the promotion.

Dr. Wagner Jr. & El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. LA Park & El Hijo de LA Park is the first match announced for Kings of Colosseum. MLW noted that it will be part of a double main event.

After Kings of Colosseum, MLW will hold tapings at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York on July 25. MLW has also announced a set of tapings called “War Chamber” for North Richland Hills, Texas on September 7.
