Tag Team title defense added to Impact Final Resolution

ABC (Chris Bey & Ace Austin) will look to extend their second run with the Impact Tag Team titles as they defend them at next Saturday’s Final Resolution.

Bey & Austin will face Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards. Myers held the TNA Tag Team titles for a single day with Trevor Lee in 2015 while Edwards has held the TNA tag titles five times (all with Davey Richards) with his last reign ending 2016.

The two were rivals in 2020 and 2021, ending with a Hold Harmless match Edwards win at 2021’s Sacrifice.

A win will give Bey & Austin their second successful defense of the gold they regained at October’s Bound for Glory.

Frankie Kazarian vs. Sheldon Jean has also been announced for the pre-show. Kazarian is coming off a loss to X-Division Champion Chris Sabin in late-October while Jean is still looking for his first win (0-9).

Final Resolution, set for Saturday, December 9th, in Toronto, Canada, will be the final special event under the Impact banner before the company reverts to TNA.

Two-out-of-three falls match set for next week’s Impact Wrestling

Frankie Kazarian & Eddie Edwards will square off in a two-out-of-three falls Killer Impact match on next week’s Impact Wrestling.

After months of feuding, Edwards & Kazarian will settle their beef “once and for all” with the stipulation bout on the Thursday, October 12 Impact episode. The two kicked off their rivalry at June’s Against All Odds event, and have wrestled three times in singles matches and once in a tag since, with Kazarian and wife Traci Brooks defeating Edwards and wife Alisha Edwards at Impact 1000.

The Tag Team Championship will also be on the line next week, as The Rascalz defend against Sami Callihan & Rich Swann. The winners will go on to defend the titles at Bound for Glory on October 21 against Ace Austin & Chris Bey.

Also set for next week is a five-way intergender match with Bound for Glory implications, as Jordynne Grace faces Jake Something, Dirty Dango, Champagne Singh, and Eric Young. The winner will earn the 20th spot in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at Bound for Glory, while the loser will enter the gauntlet first.

Next week’s lineup:

  • Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian in a two-out-of-three falls Killer Impact match

  • Jake Something vs. Dirty Dango vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Champagne Singh vs. Eric Young for no. 1 & no. 20 spots in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at Bound for Glory

Former Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo will battle Subculture’s Dani Luna ahead of Purrazzo’s match with Jordynne Grace the next night.

Mixed tag match set for Impact Wrestling episode 1000

A mixed tag team match between two married couples is set to go down at Impact 1000.

Impact Wrestling has announced that their 1000th episode will feature a tag match with Frankie Kazarian & Traci Brooks facing Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards. Brooks issued a challenge for the match after Alisha helped Eddie defeat Kazarian at Impact’s Emergence event. Brooks said she won’t be a nostalgia act returning to the ring — she’ll be a pissed off wife who is going to kick Alisha’s ass.

This will be the first time Brooks has wrestled since 2012.

Eddie defeated Kazarian in a Back to School match at Emergence this past weekend. It was taped at Killer Kowalski’s wrestling school in Massachusetts and was billed as a way for Kazarian and Eddie to finally settle their issues. Kazarian and Eddie were both trained by the late Kowalski.

After helping Eddie win the Back to School match, Alisha attacked Kazarian with a kendo stick.

Impact’s 1000th episode is being filmed at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York on Saturday, September 9. Here’s what’s been announced for the show so far:

  • Team 3D (Bully Ray & D-Von) team together for the first time in seven years
  • Mixed tag team match: Frankie Kazarian & Traci Brooks vs. Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards
  • Ultimate X returns
  • Feast or Fired returns

Back to School match added to Impact Wrestling Emergence

Eddie Edwards and Frankie Kazarian are heading back to where their careers began.

Impact Wrestling has announced that Edwards and Kazarian will face off in a Back to School match at Emergence this Sunday (August 27). The match is being filmed at Killer Kowalski’s wrestling school in Massachusetts. Both Edwards and Kazarian were trained by the late Kowalski.

During a segment on Impact last week, Edwards and Kazarian agreed to fight in the ring at Kowalski’s school. Kazarian tried to get Edwards to drop their feud and said they should go their separate ways. Kazarian said it’s what Kowalski would have wanted. Edwards responded by saying that Kowalski would have wanted them to settle their issues in the ring once and for all.

The segment took place one week after Kazarian accidentally struck Edwards’ wife Alisha with a kendo stick.

At Slammiversary last month, Edwards defeated Kazarian after using a kendo stick while the referee was out.

Emergence is airing live on Impact Plus, Impact’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service, and Fite TV. The rest of the show besides Edwards vs. Kazarian is taking place from the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Here’s the updated card:

  • Impact Knockouts Champion Trinity defends against Deonna Purrazzo
  • Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA, Chris Sabin & Josh Alexander vs. Bully Ray, Moose, Brian Myers & Lio Rush
  • Impact Tag Team Champions Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews) defend against The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz)
  • SANADA vs. Jake Something
  • Knockouts Tag Team Champions Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly defend against Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans, The Death Dollz (Jessicka & Courtney Rush), and The Coven (KiLynn King & Taylor Wilde)
  • Digital Media Champion Kenny King defends against Johnny Swinger
  • Back to School match: Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian

Zack Sabre Jr. signed for tag team match at Impact x NJPW Multiverse United 2

NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. will be part of this month’s co-promoted Impact x NJPW Multiverse United pay-per-view.

Sabre Jr. will team with TMDK stablemate Shane Haste to take on Impact’s Moose & Eddie Edwards in tag team action on Sunday, August 20th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This will be Sabre Jr.’s first appearance in an Impact ring while Haste will make his first appearance since a short run this past February and March when he appeared in four matches, three of those with TMDK’s Bad Dude Tito.

Moose and Edwards have both feuded and teamed during their extensive runs in the company.

Only three matches have been announced, but former Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo called out the Stardom roster this week to appear at the show which is assumed to be leading to a match.

Here’s the current card:

  • Impact World Champion Alex Shelley defends against Hiroshi Tanahashi
  • Impact X-Division Champion Lio Rush & Trey Miguel vs. Hiromu Takahashi & Mike Bailey
  • NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. & Shane Haste vs. Moose & Eddie Edwards

Frankie Kazarian vs. Eddie Edwards III set for Impact Slammiversary

The trilogy match between former Impact World Champion Eddie Edwards and former X-Division Champion Frankie Kazarian will take place at next Saturday’s Impact Slammiversary.

The pay-per-view is scheduled for Saturday, July 15th in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Kazarian won their first-ever clash at last month’s Against All Odds, followed by Edwards getting the win on Thursday’s Impact on AXS, partially thanks to Alisha Edwards’ interference.

Later, Kazarian showed his frustrations and issued a challenge for the PPV, adding that his wife, former Impact star Traci Brooks, would make her return to even the odds.

She returned at last year’s Slammiversary by Kazarian’s side in a 10-man tag team match and even got physical with Maria Kanellis-Bennett.

  • Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo defends against Trinity

  • Pre-show: Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry defends against Kenny King

Last Rites match added to Impact Wrestling Rebellion

A stipulation match has been added to the card for Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view.

Impact Wrestling has announced that Eddie Edwards and PCO will settle their rivalry in a Last Rites match at Rebellion this Sunday (April 16). A Last Rites match is Impact’s version of a cage match.

On last week’s Impact, Edwards defeated PCO after Alisha Edwards interfered and hit PCO with a kendo stick. PCO chased Eddie and Alisha out to the parking lot after the match, but they drove off before he could get to them.

Impact Wrestling wrote:

For months, the intense rivalry between former Honor No More allies Eddie Edwards and PCO has sprawled across the IMPACT Zone, the parking lot and even the Las Vegas desert. After failing to bury PCO alive, Edwards recruited Kenny King to join his cause. But when King fell to PCO at Sacrifice, Edwards made a move that would shock the IMPACT faithful. During a singles bout against PCO on IMPACT!, Edwards reunited with his wife, Alisha, as she cracked PCO in the back with the couple’s signature kendo stick. But after scoring the victory, Edwards was reminded that PCO is not human as he sat up and chased them off the property. At Rebellion, it all comes down to this as Eddie Edwards and PCO settle the score once and for all in the infamous Last Rites match, where the only way to win is to put your opponent inside of a casket and close the lid.

Rebellion is taking place at Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The updated card for the PPV is listed below:

  • KUSHIDA vs. Steve Maclin for the vacant Impact World Championship
  • Knockouts Champion Mickie James defends against Deonna Purrazzo and Jordynne Grace in a three-way match (if James isn’t cleared to compete, it will be Purrazzo vs. Grace for the vacant title)
  • X-Division Champion Trey Miguel defends against “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Jonathan Gresham in a three-way elimination match
  • Hardcore War: Team Bully Ray vs. Team Tommy Dreamer
  • Ultimate X match: Impact Tag Team Champions Ace Austin & Chris Bey defend against Motor City Machine Guns
  • Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Coven defend against The Death Dollz
  • Last Rites match: Eddie Edwards vs. PCO
  • The Design vs. Joe Hendry, Dirty Dango & Santino Marella

Eddie Edwards signs new contract with Impact Wrestling

Eddie Edwards will be remaining with Impact Wrestling for the foreseeable future.

The 39-year-old confirmed that he’s signed a new deal with the promotion to PWInsider on Friday. He’s been with the company since January 2014 when he debuted along with his tag team partner, Davey Richards, as The Wolves.

Edwards said:

“I’m doing good. I am happy that it’s, you know, we’re at the point where I got to sign a new deal. Clearly, Impact and myself, we have a pretty good relationship. It’s been, what, nine years at this point? Basically, we’ve been together and obviously, you know, the front office has changed time and time again, but I can comfortably say that right now is the best relationship I have had with the front officea nd I think that it’s that way for a lot of people in the locker room. There’s a very open door policy, and I think that shows in the locker room that we have, and it shows. It shows a lot of faith in our locker room and in the front office that we can go back and forth to things. I think I’ve made it pretty clear to a lot of people that myself and, you know, my wife Alisha, we are Impact Wrestling. We want to be in Impact Wrestling. We want to stay in Impact Wrestling, you know, forever. That is my goal. Luckily, impact has always treated me well, and I’m just glad that I got to sign on the dotted line and, and continue going for them. I’m just excited for the future at this point.”

In his time with Impact, Edwards is a former two-time World Champion, five-time Tag Team Champion (w/ Davey Richards), two-time X-Division Champion, and the eight Triple Crown winner in TNA/Impact history.

When asked why he chose to re-sign with the company he’s been with for nine years, Edwards responded:

“Man. That’s….that is wild. When you say that, it gets real at that point. :Laughs.: For me, it’s just, since day one, even though, I had a different boss [in charge of Impact] at that time, but since day one, they’ve always treated me with respect. Speaking specifically about now, they’ve always treated me with great respect. I feel very valued in the company where..you know, I don’t want, nobody wants to work in a place where you’re overlooked or you’re taken for granted. That’s what, that has been a thought of mine, because I do like to make it known that I love working for Impact Wrestling, and I don’t want to go anywhere. So a fear could be, I just don’t want to get taken for granted, but I’ve never, you know, I’ve never had that thought here. It’s never even come to that, which, you know, is a good feeling to have.”

Outside of Impact Wrestling, Edwards is a former GHC Heavyweight Champion in Pro Wrestling NOAH, ROH World Champion, two-time ROH Tag Team Champion (w/ Davey Richards), and a one-time ROH TV Champion. In 2009, him and Davey Richards were voted The Tag Team of the Year in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards.
