Dolph Ziggler vs. Mustafa Ali set for next week’s WWE Raw

A new match has been added to next week’s WWE Raw in Ottawa.

Mustafa Ali challenged Dolph Ziggler to a match following the events of Monday’s Raw, where Ali lost to Bronson Reed.

In a segment that aired on social media, Ziggler asked Ali how he was doing following his loss. Ali said he was fine and attempted to say something, but Ziggler cut Ali off, telling him to stop with the excuses and make something happen for himself. Ali said he was right, then sarcastically said maybe he should smile more. The two continued to argue until Ali put out the challenge for next week. Ziggler agreed.

Ali and Ziggler have been feuding for the last several weeks, with Ali upset that Ziggler keeps getting opportunities while Ali feels he doesn’t get any. The two had another confrontation last week, with Ali saying if he had faced Reed, he would have won and advanced to the Elimination Chamber. Reed overheard Ali and set up the match for Monday’s Raw.

Rodriguez and Ripley were on NXT as Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez’s respective “Pick Your Poison” opponents. Deville took on Alba Fyre as part of the final build to Fyre challenging Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Championship this Saturday.

The Rock, Dolph Ziggler appear via video at The Roast of Ric Flair

The Rock and Dolph Ziggler both appeared at Friday’s Roast of Ric Flair event.

During the show, video messages from both Rock and Ziggler were shown. Rock talked about his history with Flair, noting how his mother would sew Flair’s robes. He mentioned that he met him as a child and later, when attending an NWA convention, remembered who he was. He thanked Flair for being such a kind human being to him and his family, and mentioned how he would work for his grandmother in Hawaii.

Ziggler said he will never forget the times he and Flair had in Florida, shouted out Mean Gene Okerlund, and called Flair the greatest of all time, ending the message wearing Flair trunks.

Friday’s roast leads to Sunday’s Ric Flair’s Last Match event, which will take place at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Flair will team with son-in-law Andrade El Idolo as they take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. Wrestlers from AEW, MLW, AAA, Impact, and New Japan Pro Wrestling will be part of Sunday’s card, which will air on FITE TV.

Dolph Ziggler attacks Theory on WWE Raw

Dolph Ziggler superkicked Theory to close out Monday’s edition of WWE Raw.

Ziggler made his way to ringside midway through the night’s main event of Bobby Lashley & Riddle vs. Seth Rollins & Theory. Later in the match, Ziggler prevented Theory from putting his feet on the ropes during a pin attempt on Riddle. As Theory was distracted by Ziggler, Riddle hit him with an RKO and got the three count.

After the match was over, Ziggler gave Theory a superkick before the show went off the air.

Theory and Ziggler wrestled twice in singles matches on WWE house shows this weekend. Ziggler first defeated Theory on a Saturday Night’s Main Event show from Bossier City, Louisiana on Saturday. He then defeated Theory again at a Sunday Stunner show the following night from Waco, Texas. Those are the only two matches they have had against each other thus far.

Ziggler is coming off a run in NXT that saw him win the NXT Championship at Roadblock back in March. He would then drop the title back to Breakker on the April 4 edition of Raw.

Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Theory defeated Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Riddle, Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Madcap Moss, Omos, and Riddle (25:30)

This was an awesome ladder match. They all worked hard, told a good story, and did a lot of risky ladder spots. Adding Theory at the last second gave away the finish.

All seven guys faced off in the ring. Suddenly, Adam Pearce walked out and added Theory to the match. Cole and McAfee pointed out that Theory didn’t have to qualify. The fans booed Theory and didn’t want to see him win.

Omos had the early advantage as he dominated everyone. He knocked down Moss and Riddle with a ladder. In the ring, Riddle tried going for a guillotine, but Omos broke free. McIntyre then rocked Omos with the claymore kick.

Theory tried sneaking up the ladder, but McIntyre and Sheamus stopped him. Rollins went for a pedigree on a ladder, but Riddle backdropped him instead. Zayn tried climbing up the ladder, but Moss cut him off.

Zayn ended up on the top rope as Moss set up a ladder on the bottom rope. Zayn jumped over Moss and tried to climb up another ladder. Moss caught Zayn and gave him a painful-looking powerbomb on the ladder.

Sheamus went for the Brogue Kick, but Riddle moved. He then hit the draping DDT using the ladder. Riddle ran wild and hit the floating bro off the very top of the ladder. That was an awesome spot.

Bron Breakker wins NXT Championship on WWE Raw

Bron Breakker regained the NXT Championship tonight on Raw.

Breakker got a second shot at regaining the title tonight in an impromptu rematch from Stand & Deliver this past Saturday. Robert Roode, Ziggler’s tag team partner, got involved during the match but was taken out by a flip dive. The finish came when Breakker avoided a superkick by Ziggler and connected with a spear. Breakker then pinned Ziggler following a military press slam. This now makes Breakker a two-time champion.

On Saturday, Ziggler retained the championship after raking Breakker’s eyes as he went for a military press slam, sending Breakker head first into an exposed turnbuckle. Ziggler’s championship reign ends after less than a month, pinning Tommaso Ciampa in a match that also featured champion Bron Breakker back on the March 8 edition of NXT.

Since making his debut on NXT television in September, Breakker quickly became a main event player on the brand, defeating Ciampa to win the championship on January 4 of this year.

Dolph Ziggler, Mandy Rose retain titles at NXT Stand & Deliver

Dolph Ziggler successfully defended the NXT Championship and Mandy Rose retained her NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver.

Ziggler defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of Saturday’s show. The finish saw him rake his opponent’s eyes, send him headfirst into an exposed turnbuckle, deliver a super-kick, and get the pin. This was Ziggler’s second successful title defense. He also defeated LA Knight in a championship match on the March 15 edition of NXT.

Rose pinned Io Shirai in a fatal 4-way match that also involved Cora Jade and Kay Lee Ray earlier in the show. This was Rose’s third successful title defense. She previously defeated Jade and Raquel Gonzalez in a triple threat match at New Year’s Evil. She then defeated Kay Lee Ray in a singles match on the February 8 edition of NXT.

The promotion also unveiled a new design to the NXT Women’s Championship belt on the show.

WWE NXT Stand & Deliver live results: Dolph Ziggler vs. Bron Breakker

NXT joins in on WWE’s WrestleMania weekend festivities in Dallas with this afternoon’s Stand & Deliver event.

Stand & Deliver will be the first NXT show to be held outside of Florida since the NXT 2.0 rebrand. In the main event, Dolph Ziggler will put his NXT Championship on the line against Bron Breakker.

NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose, NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, and NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium are all set to defend their titles against multiple challengers today.

Rose defends against Cora Jade, Io Shirai, and Kay Lee Ray in a four-way match. Hayes’ title will be up for grabs in a ladder match against Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa, Grayson Waller, and Cameron Grimes. And Imperium defend their titles against The Creed Brothers and MSK in a triple threat match.

LA Knight vs. Gunther and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Tony D’Angelo round out the main card for Stand & Deliver. On the pre-show, the reunited Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai challenge Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles.

The Stand & Deliver main card streams live on Peacock/WWE Network at 1 p.m. Eastern. The pre-show begins at noon.

**********

The card is opening with a women’s tag team title match on the pre-show.

Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai defeated NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolan & Jacy Jayne) to win the titles

Gonzalez pins Jayne to capture the tag titles. Wendy Choo appeared at ringside to distract Toxic Attraction. Choo threw her drink in Dolan’s face, and Gonzalez booted Dolan with a high kick. Gonzalez then gave Jayne the Chingona Bomb, and she covered her for the pinfall.

I was surprised by the finish, especially with it being a title change on the pre-show, and the crowd also seemed surprise. The recently reunited duo are the new tag champs.

The main card kicks off at high noon in Dallas with a ladder match.

Cameron Grimes defeats NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) and Santos Escobar (with Legado del Fantasma) and Solo Sikoa and Grayson Waller (with Sanga) in a ladder match to win the title

Grimes wins the title in a stunt show that is as good as most Money in the Bank matches these days. Grimes not only won, but he got a superstar entrance with a rocket ship theme (going TO THE MOON of course).

Trick Williams interferes at will during the match. So do others. Early on the ring would clear, and they took turns going one-on-one. Soon a melee develops, and the ladders come into play.

At first the spots with the ladders were fairly tame and safe like baseball slide dropkicks and such. The spots got progressively dangerous. A parade of dives gives way to more stunts with ladders.

Notable high spots include Waller delivering a cutter on Escobar off a ladder. Hayes springboards into a flying clothesline on Waller. Sikoa cut down Hayes in mid-air when he attempted a second springboard. Escobar leaps over a ladder for a sunset bomb that sends Sikoa crashing down onto a ladder.

Williams jumped in the ring to interfere, and Sanga jumps in to cut him off. Sanga dismantles a ladder in a rage, tearing it apart. Elektra Lopez gets in the ring to confront Sanga, which distracted the monster long enough for Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde to fly into the ring with missile dropkicks. They send Sanga out of the ring, and Lopez leaps off the top rope for a flying body press to the outside on Sanga. Sikoa went to give both Mendoza & Wilde a dual Samoan Drop, but it didn’t quite work.

Williams interferes again, and this time he climbs the ladder trying to get the title. Grimes dumps him over the ropes, and Williams goes sailing out of the ring.

Waller was fingertips away, and Escobar thwarts him with a Super Frankensteiner off a ladder. Sikoa then spears Escobar. Grimes gives Sikoa a Cave In on a ladder bridge. Waller with a Jeff Hardy dive off a ladder through the ladder bridge.

Escobar gives Hayes a Phantom Driver. Grimes out of nowhere leaps off the top rope with a Cave In on Escobar. Grimes then climbs a ladder to grab the title, winning the match and the championship.

Tony D’Angelo (with AJ Galante) defeats Tommaso Ciampa

D’Angelo pins Ciampa in what is arguably D’Angelo’s best match in NXT. Far from Ciampa’s best match in NXT, but good enough nonetheless.

Is this Ciampa’s swan song in NXT? Regardless, Ciampa gets a standing ovation after the match. He kisses the mat before leaving the ring.

On the premium version of Peacock, Triple H comes out after the match to acknowledge Ciampa for what looks like a sendoff for Ciampa.

D’Angelo and Galante arrived to the building a limo, giving them a unique entrance. Ciampa also got a special entrance with a video package tailored to this match.

Ciampa was very much a ring general in this bout as he puts over D’Angelo. He fires up to pummel D’Angelo with a series of knee strikes. Ciampa then pulls up the mat at ringside to reveal the unprotected arena floor. D’Angelo cuts off Ciampa, yet a portion of the the floor remains uncovered as the match continues.

Comeback by Ciampa, and he runs wild with a volley of lariats. D’Angelo counters, and they go back-and-forth trading near falls. D’Angelo taunts Ciampa, causing Ciampa to fire back with Wahoo McDaniel-esque chops.

A slugfest develops as they trade strikes. D’Angelo retrieves a crowbar he apparently hid in the ring frame, but Ciampa blocks the foreign object. However, Ciampa is hit with a low blow, and D’Angelo executes his fisherman suplex finisher. Ciampa kicks out at two and half.

D’Angelo gets the crowbar again, but Ciampa again counters. Willow’s Bell by Ciampa, and a Fairy Tale Endind. D’Angelo kicks out again. So they both have kicked out of the other’s finisher.

Ciampa applys a cross-face, but D’Angelo gets a rope broke. The fight then spills outside, near the exposed arena floor. D’Angelo gives Ciampa a DDT on the concrete floor.

D’Angelo rolls a limp Ciampa into the ring. D’Angelo stands over Ciampa, boots him in the side of the head, and D’Angelo covers Ciampa for a pinfall.

Standing ovation for Ciampa after the match. He soaks it in, and he kisses the match. As Ciampa is leaving, Triple H makes his return to WWE television as he joins Ciampa on the stage for an embrace. Triple H raises Ciampa’s hand. This sure looks like a sendoff for Ciampa. He waves to the crowd.

MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) defeats NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) and The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed with Diamond Mine) in a triple threat match to win the titles

MSK win the titles after Carter pins Barthel in a fast-paced match.

Lots of action in this match, and they popped the crowd early on often. Similar in some ways to the ladder match in terms of bedlam, but without all the ladders. Just bedlam at times. Controlled chaos too, such as a Tower of Doom spot.

Several dives throughout, but Brutus Creed pops the crowd with a cannonball off the top rope to the floor. A moment later, Julius Creed is sent crashing into the ring steps. Doomsday uppercut off the apron by Imperium takes out Brutus.

Barthel climbs on the ropes, but he is cut off. MSK with a Frankensteiner into a sit-out powerbomb on Barthel. Carter then covers Barthel to win the titles.

Cameron Grimes is emotional in a backstage interview after winning the NXT North American Championship earlier in the show.

Joe Gacy and Harland are in Dealey Plaza for a pre-tape segment from earlier today. Gacy cuts a cryptic promo, which in a way fit the setting.

NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defeats Cora Jade and Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray in a fatal four way to retain her title

Rose pins Shirai to steal a win. The match was clunky at times, but it was good in the closing moments.

Cora Jade gets a special entrance with a bunch of skateboarders on the stage.

The match turned into a melee a minute into the bout. Not out of the ordinary as practically every match so far on the card has included a melee at some point.

The melee soon settles. The focus of the match shifts to Rose against Jade. Kay Lee Ray almost wipes out on a dive off the top to the floor. Shirai is next to fly as she moonsaults to the outside.

KLR and Shirai square off in the ring, which immediately improves the match. Missile dropkick by Shirai on KLR, but Rose breaks up a pinning attempt. KLR catches Rose in a submission hold, while Shirai applies a Texas cloverleaf on Jade at the same time.

Jade gets to shine as she runs wild on Rose. KLR takes a Canadian Destroyer from Jade on the apron. Shirai takes out Jade with a modified Tiger Feint Kick. Shirai then hits Rose with a missile dropkick, followed by German suplex for a near fall.

Spanish Fly by Shirai plants Rose. Jade off the top with a senton to break up a pinning attempt. Jade with sliced bread and a double-arm DDT, but KLR jumps in to break up a pinning attempt. Gory Bomb by KLR on Jade, and KLR climbs to the top rope.

Shirai shoves KLR off the rope, and Shirai with a moonsault press on Jade. Shirai went for a cover, yet Rose rushed in to boot Shirai. Rose then cradles Shirai to score a pinfall, and Rose retains the title.

A video package shows Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis shopping in a Western wear store. Persia Pirotta and Duke Hudson also shopped in a store to put together an outfit. They all dressed like what city slickers think cowboys dress. They looked silly, but I guess that was the idea.

In a fan vote, In-Dex won the hottest couple poll with 89% of the vote over 11%. Hudson was mad about the result, and he got into a shoving match with Lumis. Hartwell and Pirotta also pushed and shoves each other. There was a mild pull-apart. This segment was a dud.

Gunther defeats LA Knight

Gunther pins Knight clean in the middle of the ring.

When the fight spills outside the ring early in the bout, Gunther powerbombs Knight on the ring apron. Gunther begins to punish Knight, and Gunther targets the back.

Knight fights back, but Gunther continues to pummel him as he dashes hope spots. Gunther applies a Boston crab, further punishing Knight’s back.

Knight keeps fighting back, yet Gunther chops him down. Eventually, Knight begins a comeback. Knight sells his back during his rally.

Superplex by Knight. Back on their feet, they trade strikes. Gunther locks in a sleeper hold. Knight counters to lift Gunther into a torture rack. Knight with in modified DVD.

Gunther is throwing haymaker chops, and he clotheslines Knight off the turnbuckles. Gunther leaps off the top rope with a splash on Knight’s injured back. Gunther then powerbombs Knight in the middle of the ring. One … two … three.

Bron Breakker is backstage making his way to the ring. He stops to grab a colorfully painted chainsaw. During his entrance, Breakker uses the chainsaw to cut throw a large “X” on the stage.

NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler (with Robert Roode) defeats Bron Breakker to retain his championship

Ziggler pins Breakker after using an exposed turnbuckle and outside interference by Rodert Roode. That is despite Roode having been ejected earlier in match.

Really good match with a lame finish.

Ziggler tosses the title belt in Breakker’s face right after the ring introductions, which throws Breakker into a rage.

Breakker explodes at the start, and he is a house of fire. They both play on their amateur wrestling backgrounds.

Ziggler counters, but Breakker is a beast. Robert Roode is soon ejected by the referee. Roode interferes by grabbing Breakker’s foot, and the ref ejects Roode.

Tide turns when Breakker is crotched on the top turnbuckle. Ziggler follows up with a draping neckbreaker, and Ziggler begins to target Breakker’s neck. Breakker tries to rally, but he is tripped up again.

Chinlock city. Ziggler with a Rick Rude taunt allows Breakker a second to counter. Comeback by Breakker with a tilt-a-whirl slam for a two count.

Super Frakensteiner from Breakker for a near fall, and Breakker with a beautuiful spear for another near fall. Ziggler answers back with a near fall of his own.

Breakker blocks a superkick, and Breakker hits a second spear on Ziggler. Breakker is fired up. Gorilla press slam into a jackhammer. Breakker covers Ziggler, and Roode runs down to ringside to break up the count.

Of course, Roode was ejected earlier in the match, but is back out here with no recourse. The ref lets the match continue. Breakker dives over the ropes to wipe out Roode. However, Breakker’s attention was diverted.

Back in the ring, Ziggler strikes with a famouser and a zig zag. Breakker kicks out for the best near fall of the match. Ziggler off the top with flying elbow drop. Breakker kicks out again.

Ziggler cuing up a band for sweet chin music, but Breakker hulks up. Breakker lands another spear. Military press, but Ziggler rakes the eyes. Ziggler shoves Breakker into an exposed turnbuckle.

Ziggler hits a superkick on a stunned Breakker, and Ziggler covers him for a pinfall. Ziggler retains. Dirty Dawgs celebrate.

Four new matches added to NXT Stand & Deliver

Four new matches were added to the Saturday, April 2 NXT Stand & Deliver card on tonight’s WWE NXT 2.0 episode.

Dolph Ziggler will defend the NXT Championship against former champ Bron Breakker at the event. Breakker stormed the ring after Ziggler defended the title against LA Knight on tonight’s episode, then demanded his rematch at Stand & Deliver. Ziggler accepted the challenge.

Ziggler pinned Tommaso Ciampa in a triple threat match also involving Breakker to win the NXT title on March 8.

Also announced for Stand & Deliver, Mandy Rose will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Cora Jade. After a show-long storyline where Jade picked off members of Toxic Attraction backstage, Rose attacked and spray-painted Jade in the NXT parking lot to set up the title bout.

A triple threat match for the NXT Tag Team Championship will also take place at Stand & Deliver, as Imperium’s Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel defend against Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winners The Creed Brothers, and MSK. The bout was set up with a promo segment on tonight’s NXT 2.0 episode.

Ciampa will take on Tony D’Angelo at Stand & Deliver. Following a promo where Ciampa teased retiring or leaving NXT, D’Angelo appeared and challenged Ciampa for the April 2 show. Ciampa accepted, then was kicked low by D’Angelo.

Already set for Stand & Deliver is a five-way ladder match for the NXT North American Championship. Carmelo Hayes is set to defend the title on the show. Santos Escobar won a qualifying match tonight and will be one of the four challengers. Two more qualifying matches are set for next week, with Solo Sikoa facing Roderick Strong, and A-Kid taking on Grayson Waller.

WWE NXT live results: Miz TV with Dolph Ziggler

The Miz makes his NXT 2.0 debut tonight for a segment with the new NXT Champion.

Tonight’s show will feature a Miz TV segment with Dolph Ziggler. At Roadblock last week, Ziggler defeated Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa in a triple threat match to win the NXT Championship.

Breakker will likely be out for revenge after losing the NXT title without being pinned. After Robert Roode interfered to help cost Breakker last week’s title match, Ziggler pinned Ciampa to win the title.

Santos Escobar and Cameron Grimes will clash in a Stand & Deliver qualifying match tonight. The winner will become the first challenger to qualify for the ladder match for Carmelo Hayes’ North American Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend.

NXT UK star A-Kid also makes his NXT 2.0 debut as he takes on Kushida tonight, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta will face off to determine who is the better woman, and Sarray faces Tiffany Stratton.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with a tribute to Scott Hall.

A video recap shows the finish of last week’s main event, where Dolph Ziggler won the NXT Championship with help from Robert Roode.

This week’s episode kicks off with a main roster segment. Like an episode of Monday Night Raw, it is of course a talking segment.

Miz enters the soundstage for MizTV. The new NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler is the guest for MizTV, along with Roode.

The former champion, Bron Breakker, showed up earlier today at the Performance Center in a rage. Breakker had his sights set on Ziggler, yet Breakker was unable to find him. Coaches apparently got him to leave, and Breakker burned rubber out of the parking lot is his sports car.

Ziggler and Mix were hamming it up when they were interrupted by LA Knight, since it would not be an authentic talking segment on a pro wrestling show without an interruption.

The crowd inside the soundstage loudly chant for Knight. He soaks it in, and then he turns his attention to Ziggler. Knight cuts a promo basically challenging Ziggler, but Ziggler blows him off. Ziggler says he is a fighting champion, but he “only fights superstars.”

Miz sarcastically put over Knight before saying Knight would be a major player … just not yet.

Knight removes his leather jacket, and he at first admits he isn’t a superstar. Knight proclaims he is a megastar. Knight says he can take that title from Ziggler at any time, and he even actually used the word “title” when saying it.

Ziggler earlier said he is NXT, a takeoff on the “we are NXT” slogan. Knight corrects Ziggler, saying NXT is his show. Knight gets the crowd to chant for him. Knight says Ziggler has his title.

Ziggler responds by saying “the world needs ditch diggers too, kid.” Odd response, but Ziggler follows up by saying the champ only wrestles in the main event. The day Knight figures that out he will find Ziggler. Okay., sure.

Miz this screams that Ziggler will defind the championship against Knight in the main event, so the match is apparently official for later tonight.

NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams enter the soundstage. They are guest commentators for the next match, which is a qualifier for the title ladder match for Hayes’ championship at Stand & Deliver.

Cora Jade in a backstage interview says that Raquel Gonzalez is out of action for four to six weeks, after an injury at the hands of Toxic Attraction. Jade in turn stole the NXT Women’s Championship and Women’s Tag Team Championship belts, which belong to Toxic Attraction. Jade smirks as he walks away with the three title belts.

Santos Escobar (with Legado del Fantasma) defeats Cameron Grimes in a North American Championship Qualifying Match

Escobar pins Grimes, so Escobar qualifies for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver.

Hayes and Williams were entertaining on commentary. They howled with laughter when Legado del Fantasma distracted Grimes, allowing them to waylay Grimes.

Escobar with the underhanded advantage as the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break. Escobar still in control as the show returns from the break. Grimes was a babyface in peril.

Grimes fights back and he makes a comeback. Grimes is running wild. Slight mix-up at one point, but they recover quickly. Grimes goes for flying crossbody off the top rope, but Grimes gets his knees up to block it. Near fall for Escobar.

Grimes counters Escobar to execute his version of a running Spanish fly. Escobar kicks out at two. Grimes signals for his Cave In finisher, but Grimes glances at Hayes at ringside for a split second. That allows Escobar to deliver a Phantom Driver, and he covers Grimes for a three count.

Escobar qualifies for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver where he challenges Hayes for the North American title.

In a pre-tape promo, Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray cut a promo vowing to win the Women’s Dusty Cup.

Toxic Attraction in a backstage skit were looking in the locker room for their stolen championship belts. They ran into Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai. My guess is this segment was supposed to be comedy, but the faction has history with Choo & Kai.

A-Kid defeats Kushida (with Ikemen Jiro)

A-Kid in his NXT debut match pins Kushida.

At the start of the match an announcement proclaimed this match a qualifier for a qualifying match. The winner of this match goes on to face Grayson Waller next week in a North American Championship Qualifying Match.

Kushida and A-Kid had a grappling clinic before A-Kid springboards into a tornado DDT. Awkward landing by Kushida, and A-Kid covers him for a pinfall.

Santos Escobar is backstage flanked by Legado del Fantasma. Escobar is cutting a post-match promo after his victory. He is wearing a Legado del Fantsama tee shirt that spoofs the LWO. Pretty rad.

Rey Mysterio appears in NXT cameo

Escobar is suddenly interrupted by Rey Mysterio and his son, Dominik Mysterio. Escobar shakes Mysterio’s hand, but the meeting soon turns to shade.

They trade barbs at each other, leading to Dominik challenging someone from Legado del Fantasma to a match. Raul Mendoza accepts the challenge. Escobar warns Mysterio that Mysterio is making a big mistake.

Tiffany Stratton defeats Sarray

Stratton pins Sarray in a quick match.

Stratton attacks Sarray backstage before the match. Sarray is unable to “transform” into her gear, so she has to wrestle the match in a schoolgirl costume.

Stratton wins after a short match. Sarray took a spill to the outside at one point, and Stratton soon delivers a Muta handspring elbow. Stratton follows with a corkscrew splash, and she scores a three count.

LA Knight and Gunther are arguing backstage, so they will likely meet in a match soon.

Cora Jade had a trap ready for Jacy Jayne. Jade is able to lock Jayne in a cage like when Sting and friends were trapped in at Clash of the Champions back in the day.

Tony D’Angelo challenges Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa enters the ring for a monologue promo. Ciampa waxes about his career, and he talks about his run in NXT. Ciampa says he ran with the ball when it was given it him. He was grateful for that.

The crowd with a thank you chant as Ciampa discusses his NXT career. Ciampa shifts his speech to him thanking the fans.

“Please don’t go” chants from the crowd. Ciampa says he does not know where he goes from here.

Ciampa mentions having to vacate the NXT title before a TakeOver because of injury. He wanted to right that wrong be being champion heading into Stand & Deliver, but he failed when he lost his match last week.

Ciampa wonders to himself is this a perfect way to close this chapter. The crowd chants for one more match. Ciampa says he does not have an answer, but you don’t always get the opportunity to say thank you. So, Ciampa thanks the fans. He thanks them from the bottom of his heart.

Tony D’Angelo suddenly appears standing behind Ciampa. D’Angelo says he could have jumped Ciampa, but he instead stands in front of him for a challenge. D’Aneglo wants somehow to defeat that would put him in the history books. Who would make him a top guy in NXT?

D’Angelo challenges Ciampa to a match at Stand & Deliver. Ciampa accepts the challenege, and he and shakes D’Angelo’s hand. D’Angelo with a cheap shot low blow, and he stands over a fallen Ciampa. Looks like Ciampa against D’Angelo at Stand & Deliver.

Indi Hartwell defeats Persia Pirotta

Hartwell pins a distracted Pirotta. This appears to build towards a mixed tag match.

They both share an entrance like this was a tag match, except they bicker on their way to the ring. The bickering soon turns to fighting.

The strained friendship can only get worse as Duke Hudson comes to ringside. Huge pop from the crowd as Dexter Lumis crawls out from underneath the ring. He stares down Hudson.

The arrival of Lumis also distracts Pirotta, allowing Hartwell to roll her up for a pinfall.

Pirotta and Hartwell after the match face off with their lovers be their side. Pirotta and Hartwell try to one-up the other with PDAs. The couples make out in the ring.

Cora Jade sets another trap for Toxic Attraction. Gigi Dolan is lured into a trash dumpster, and in a callback to a feud pitting the New Age Outlaws against Chainsaw Charlie & Cactus Jack, Jade uses a forklift to trap Dolan in the dumpster.

Dominik Mysterio (with Rey Mysterio) defeats Raul Mendoza

Mysterio pins Mendoza in short match with a lot going on at ringside.

The match gets underway, but it is soon overshadowed by happenings at ringside. Elektra Lopez interferes, which brings out Fallon Henley. She pulls Lopez off the apron. Lopez and Joaquin Wilde gets into Henley’s face. Out comes Briggs & Jensen to back up Henley.

Meanwhile, Escobar is knocked off his feet by a forearm from Rey Mysterio at ringside. Dominik with a 619, and he follows up with a frog splash on Mendoza. Dominik then covers Mendoza to score a pinfall.

Briggs, Jensen, and Henley celebrate with the Mysterios after the match.

Scott Hall is honored with a video tribute.

Cora Jade is outside the building with the stolen NXT Women’s Championship. Jade also has a can of what appears to be spray paint. Jade gets into a SUV with the title belt and the spray paint can.

In keeping with the theme of this running skit spoofing famous angles of the past, Mandy Rose pops up like when The Undertaker scares Stephanie McMahon.

Jade and Rose brawl in the parking lot, and Rose pummels Jade. Rose says Jade will never be on her level. Rose then sprays paint on Jade.

Tag title triple threat set for Stand & Deliver

The Creed Brothers are in the ring with Malcolm Bivens, and they are angry. The Creeds want their attackers to reveal themselves. They were attacked last week by mystery assailants, and this week they are pissed off about it.

MSK comes out to confront the Creeds. They deny attacking the Creeds. The crowd heels on MSK.

Bivens chimes in to cut a promo on MSK when MSK starts talking about getting a title shot.

NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium interrupt the confrontation. Imperium is on a perch overlooking the ring. They say neither team can take the titles from them.

More bickering among the teams. Imperium then says they are willing to put their titles on the line in a triple threat match at Stand & Deliver. Add another match to the Stand & Deliver card.

Cameron Grimes in a backstage interview is distraught over not having a spot on the Stand & Deliver card.

The Creed Brothers and Malcolm Bivens in a backstage skit accuse Grizzled Young Veterans of being the mystery attackers. This sets up a match between the two teams for next Tuesday on NXT.

NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler (with Robert Roode) defeats LA Knight to retain his title

Ziggler pins Knight to retain in a decent enough match. After the match, Breakker challenges Ziggler to a title match at Stand & Deliver.

They were going back-and-forth early on. Knight fires up to execute a powerslam for a near fall, just before the show cuts to its final commercial break. Ziggler was able to cut off Knight during the break, and Ziggler was working over Knight when the show returns from commercials.

Ziggler with Knight grounded on the mat with a sleeper, but Knight miraculously is able to escape. Knight goes on to block a Famouser.

Knight begins a comeback, and he is a house of fire. Knight feeds off the crowd as he kicks butt in the ring.

Split-screen cutaway to the parking lot where Bron Breakker is back. As if Breakker is the new Stone Cold, he looks to be on his way to open a can like it is 1998.

The match continues in the ring, and they build to LA Knight executing a superplex on Ziggler. That leads to a close near fall.

Roode interferes, but that interference backfires at first. Knight counters with a version of the Burning Hammer, and he covers Ziggler. Roode puts Ziggler’s foot on the rope to break the count, thus saving the title for Ziggler.

They counter each other’s signature moves. Knight misses a charge into a corner, and he eats a superkick from Ziggler. A three count later and Ziggler retains by pinfall.

Bron Breakker enters the ring after the match. Breakker confronts Ziggler. Roode tries to step in between them, but Breakker decks Roode with a punch.

Breakker confronts Ziggler and challenges him to a title match at Stand & Deliver. Ziggler holds up the title and Ziggler accepts the challenge. Looks like the main event for Stand & Deliver is set.

Miz TV with Dolph Ziggler set for WWE NXT

A special edition of Miz TV will take place on tomorrow’s NXT, with new NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler as the guest.

The Miz will interview Ziggler following the events of last week’s NXT Roadblock event. Ziggler won the NXT Championship for the first time in a three-way match. The finish saw Ziggler’s tag team partner, Robert Roode, pull champion Bron Breakker out of the ring as Tommaso Ciampa was going for a running knee. Ciampa turned around and walked into a superkick by Ziggler, giving him the win.

Miz has been feuding with Rey and Dominik Mysterio in recent weeks. He will team with Logan Paul to face the Mysterios on the first night of WrestleMania 38, April 2.

Already announced for this week’s NXT:

  • Cameron Grimes vs. Santos Escobar for a spot in the NXT North American title ladder match at Stand and Deliver
  • A-Kid vs. Kushida
  • Indi Hartwell vs. Persia Pirotta
  • Sarray vs. Tiffany Stratton

Wrestling Weekly: Can Tony Khan really book two promotions at the same time?

On this week’s Wrestling Weekly, Les Thatcher and Vic Sosa discuss the NXT title change that saw Dolph Ziggler walk away with the title, the worry about Tony Khan’s ability to book two promotions, and a rant about independent wrestlers who were apparently really concerned that they might have to actually, you know, wrestle.

Thanks for listening and have a great weekend~!

Dolph Ziggler wins NXT Championship at Roadblock

Dolph Ziggler defeated former champ Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa in a three-way to win the NXT Championship on tonight’s Roadblock episode of NXT 2.0.

As Ciampa set Breakker up for a running knee strike, Ziggler’s Dirty Dawgs teammate Robert Roode pulled Breakker out of Ciampa’s path and out of the ring. Ziggler capitalized by hitting a superkick to Ciampa, then pinning him to win the title.

The Roadblock result would seem to set up a Ziggler vs. Breakker title match for Stand & Deliver on Saturday, April 2, although no announcement has been made as of yet.

Breakker’s first reign with the NXT title ends at 63 days, as he had held the title since defeating Ciampa on the New Year’s Evil NXT 2.0 episode on January 4.

Ziggler has now held the NXT title, World Heavyweight title, United States title, Intercontinental title, World Tag Team title, Raw Tag Team title, and the SmackDown Tag Team title in his 15-plus years on the WWE roster. Additionally, he held the Money in the Bank briefcase on one occasion.
