First two SmackDown wrestlers set for WWE Money in the Bank

WWE has revealed the first two SmackDown participants for Money in the Bank.

On tonight’s SmackDown, Big E defeated Apollo Crews to qualify for this year’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. It was also announced that Carmella will be taking part in this year’s women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

This will be the first Money in the Bank ladder match that Big E has participated in during his career.

Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, and Big E are the first four wrestlers to qualify for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

A triple threat last chance qualifying match between AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and Drew McIntyre on Monday’s Raw will determine Raw’s final participant for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. SmackDown has three more spots left to be filled. One of them will be determined when Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn face off in a Last Man Standing qualifying match on SmackDown next Friday.

Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, and Carmella are the first five wrestlers to qualify for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Carmella didn’t have a qualifying match to get her Money in the Bank spot. WWE authority figure Sonya Deville instead announced her as SmackDown’s first participant for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Deville cited the previous success that Carmella has had in Money in the Bank.

Liv Morgan interrupted Carmella tonight and pointed out that she defeated Carmella two weeks ago. Deville made a match between Carmella and Morgan for tonight’s SmackDown and gave Morgan the chance to prove herself. Morgan defeated Carmella, but it wasn’t announced if Morgan will be getting a Money in the Bank spot.

Money in the Bank is taking place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, July 18. It will be the first pay-per-view in WWE’s return to touring.

WWE adds new team to Tag Team Turmoil match at WrestleMania 37

A new team has been added to the Tag Team Turmoil match at WrestleMania 37 night one.

On tonight’s WrestleMania week edition of SmackDown, it was officially announced that Carmella & Billie Kay will be taking part in WrestleMania 37 night one’s Tag Team Turmoil match. Naomi & Lana and Rose & Brooke are part of the Raw roster, while Natalya & Tamina, The Riott Squad, and Carmella & Kay are on SmackDown.

Kay had appeared in a backstage segment with the Tag Team Turmoil participants and Jax & Baszler on Raw earlier this week. When asked if she even had a partner, Kay said Carmella was reviewing her resume.

It was announced on tonight’s Raw that Lana & Naomi, Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose, The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan), and Tamina and Natalya will compete in a Tag Team Turmoil match. The winners of that match on Saturday will advance to the second night of WrestleMania, where they will face WWE Women’s Tag Team champions Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax for the titles.

Jax and Baszler appeared on tonight’s show, defeating Asuka and Rhea Ripley after Ripley abandoned her tag team partner. After the match, the champions were confronted backstage by all of the aforementioned teams.

The team of Billie Kay and Carmella was also brought up as possibly taking part in the match. Jax asked Kay if she even had a partner for the match. Kay mentioned that Carmella was looking at her resume, which she gave to Carmella this past Friday.

Carmella is getting another shot at Sasha Banks’ SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Banks will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Carmella at the Royal Rumble on Sunday, January 31. The announcement was made on commentary ahead of Banks’ match against Carmella’s sommelier Reginald on Friday’s SmackDown.

On SmackDown last Friday, Banks said she’d give Carmella a title match — as long as she got to face Reginald first. Reginald used his Cirque du Soleil background to evade Banks throughout their match this week, but Banks submitted him with the Banks Statement. Carmella was on commentary during the match and had a glass of champagne knocked out of her hand by Banks. Carmella and Banks also exchanged words after the match.

Banks retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Carmella at December’s TLC pay-per-view. Carmella & Bayley defeated Banks & Bianca Belair on SmackDown earlier this month, with Carmella pinning Banks to get the win.

Here’s the updated card for the Royal Rumble:

  • WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defends against Goldberg
  • Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks defends against Carmella
  • Men’s Royal Rumble match
  • Women’s Royal Rumble match

Tag match, Roman Reigns segment set for WWE SmackDown

WWE has announced a couple of additions to the lineup for the New Year’s Day episode of SmackDown.

WWE is hyping that Universal Champion Roman Reigns has “made a special request of WWE Management ahead of this week’s SmackDown.” Reigns retained his Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a steel cage match on SmackDown last week. The steel cage match was announced after Jey Uso got involved throughout Reigns and Owens’ tables, ladders, and chairs match at TLC. Uso again got involved in the steel cage match, handcuffing Owens to the cage so that Reigns could get the win.

“After Roman Reigns retained his Universal Championship by defeating Kevin Owens last week in a brutal Steel Cage Match, sources have now informed WWE.com that The ‘Head of the Table’ has made a special request of WWE Management ahead of this week’s SmackDown,” WWE.com wrote. “The specifics of the request have not yet been disclosed. Details to follow. Don’t miss SmackDown, Friday night at 8/7 C on FOX.”

Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair vs. Bayley & Carmella has also been announced for this week’s SmackDown. Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka & Charlotte Flair retained their titles against both of those teams in a triple threat elimination match on SmackDown last Friday. Bayley & Carmella were the first team eliminated when Banks pinned Bayley, but Bayley & Carmella then helped cost Banks & Belair the match.

Big E, who won the Intercontinental title from Sami Zayn in a lumberjack match last week, will face Baron Corbin in a non-title match on this Friday’s SmackDown. It had been announced that Seth Rollins would be returning to WWE television on Friday’s show, but that is no longer being advertised by WWE.

Updated lineup for Christmas Day WWE SmackDown

WWE has made a couple of announcements for this week’s Christmas Day episode of SmackDown.

It had already been announced that Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka & Charlotte Flair would be defending their titles on SmackDown this Friday. Their match has now been revealed, with Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair and Bayley & Carmella challenging Asuka & Charlotte in a triple threat elimination match.

This will be Asuka & Charlotte’s first title defense. They won the Women’s Tag Team titles from Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax at TLC this past Sunday.

WWE has also announced Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso for this Friday’s SmackDown. Uso’s cousin Roman Reigns is defending the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a steel cage match on the episode. The steel cage stipulation is due to Uso getting involved and helping Reigns throughout his tables, ladders, and chairs match against Owens at TLC.

Friday’s SmackDown was taped earlier in the week and will air on Fox at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The episode will feature:

  • Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending against Kevin Owens in a steel cage match
  • Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn defending against Big E in a lumberjack match
  • Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka & Charlotte Flair defending against Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair and Bayley & Carmella in a triple threat elimination match
  • Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso

Spoilers for Friday’s SmackDown are available here.

Sami Zayn, Carmella segments added to WWE SmackDown

A pair of segments have been added to the final episode of SmackDown before TLC.

WWE has announced that Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn will host the “first annual Sami Awards” on this Friday’s SmackDown. Carmella will also give a champagne toast ahead of challenging for Sasha Banks’ SmackDown Women’s Championship at Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view.

“The #Slammy Awards are good fun, but clearly very biased to highlight corporate favorites,” Zayn tweeted on Thursday night. “That’s why tomorrow night on #Smackdown I will host the FIRST ANNUAL SAMI AWARDS! The always honest ‘Champion of the People’, will present awards that reflect the true will of the people!”

On SmackDown last week, Zayn defeated Big E by countout in a non-title match. Zayn went under the ring and Big E chased him. Big E tried to hold Zayn’s leg so he couldn’t beat the count, but Zayn broke out of it and was able to get back into the ring to get the countout win.

The show-closing angle on last week’s SmackDown featured Carmella breaking a champagne bottle over Banks’ back. A contract signing between Banks and Carmella for their title match at TLC set up that Carmella would be challenging for Banks’ SmackDown Women’s Championship later that night. The match ended in a disqualification when Banks was striking Carmella in the corner and wouldn’t break for the referee’s five count. Carmella’s sommelier tried to pull Banks away but got put in the Banks Statement. Carmella then attacked Banks and hit her with the champagne bottle.

WWE has officially confirmed that Banks will still be defending her title against Carmella at TLC on Sunday.

This week’s SmackDown is airing on FS1 due to college football’s Pac-12 Championship game being on Fox. The show will also feature Bianca Belair vs. Bayley and The Street Profits defending their SmackDown Tag Team titles against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode.

WWE SmackDown live results: Contract signing, Zayn vs. Big E

The build to TLC continues on tonight’s SmackDown as the WWE ThunderDome debuts at Tropicana Field.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Carmella will sign the contract for their title match at TLC. Carmella returned a few weeks ago and has attacked Banks multiple times. Banks got some revenge when she recently attacked Carmella backstage.

Last week, Banks and Carmella participated in an interview but had to be in separate locations to avoid any more conflicts. Carmella mocked Banks for how hard she worked to be a WWE wrestler while it came easy to Carmella.

Big E takes on Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn in a non-title match. If Big E is victorious, he’ll likely receive a future title shot. Zayn and Big E argued two weeks ago backstage, and the segment ended with Big E crushing Zayn’s hand with a handshake. Big E and Zayn participated in the Pat Patterson tribute six-man tag match last week, with Daniel Bryan, Big E & Rey Mysterio defeating Zayn, Dolph Ziggler & Shinsuke Nakamura.

Montez Ford goes one-on-one with Ziggler tonight. Ziggler & Robert Roode defeated the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits in a non-title match a few weeks ago.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

SmackDown started with shots of the ThunderDome in Tropicana Field.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Contract Signing

SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks made her way to the ring for the contract signing. Adam Pearce welcomed Banks and noted Banks requested the match with Carmella. Banks then realized there’s no contract at the table. She freaked out and wondered if this is all a setup.

Carmella appeared on the big screen. She noted that she makes the rules and refused to be in the ring. Carmella signed the contract in the back and sent her sommelier to deliver it to the ring.

Banks signed the contract with her Boss Stamp. She doesn’t want to wait until TLC and challenged Carmella to a match tonight. Carmella agreed, so Pearce made it official. Banks then attacked Carmella’s sommelier and hit the backstabber. She then turned the table over and dropped it on him.

Carmella just watched from the back with a smile.

Kayla Braxton interviewed The Street Profits behind the entrance. She noted Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode mocked them and said they’re too funny to make money. The Street Profits made fun of Roode, and Montez Ford promised to defeat Ziggler tonight. Street Profits then made their entrance.

After the break, Dolph  Ziggler and Robert Roode made their way to ring. Ziggler made fun of the Street Profits and promised to defeat Ford tonight. Roode noted they beat them in a non-title match and vowed to win the titles.

Dolph Ziggler (w/Robert Roode) defeated Montez Ford (w/Angelo Dawkins)

Ziggler and Ford worked hard and had a good match until the distraction finish.

Ziggler had the early advantage and hit a neck breaker for a near fall. Ziggler mocked Ford. Ford recovered and gave Ziggler a slingshot into the corner. He followed up with a blockbuster, but Ziggler rolled to the floor.

Dawkins jumped in the ring and started dancing with Ford. Suddenly, blue solo cups began raining down in the ring. Ford and Dawkins celebrated with Ford making solo cup angels. Michael Cole pointed out that Ford promised it would rain blue solo cups.

Back from the break, the solo cups are gone, and Ziggler is back in control. They never showed how Ziggler regained control. Ziggler hit an elbow drop for a near fall. He then slowed the pace down with a chin lock.

Ford fought back, but Ziggler attacked the knee. Cole noted that Ziggler injured the knee during the break to regain control, which they never showed. Ziggler took back over and put the chin lock back on.

Ford fought back and hit a flying clothesline. Ziggler attempted a back suplex, but Ford landed on his feet. Ford hit a back suplex and standing moonsault. Ziggler went back to the knee and attempted the famouser, but Ford caught him.

Ford climbed to the top for the frog splash, but Roode jumped Dawkins at ringside. This distracted Ford, and Ziggler knocked him off the top. Ziggler then hit the superkick for the win.

At the merchandise table, Sami Zayn was furious that he doesn’t have a t-shirt. Apollo Crews, Kalisto, and Tamina were standing in the background.

Big E approached wearing his t-shirt. Zayn couldn’t believe that Big E has a t-shirt and he doesn’t.

Big E solved the problem, and Crews pulled out a t-shirt for Zayn. It was just a stick figure. Zayn became upset and tried to tear up the shirt but couldn’t. He blamed his injured hand and stormed off. Zayn had a brace on his hand because of the handshake from Big E two weeks ago.

Non-title match: Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn defeated Big E By Count-out

This was a fine match until the finish.

Before the match, Zayn was still furious that he didn’t have a t-shirt. He kept complaining about how WWE is treating him.

Zayn reminded Cole and Corey Graves that it’s a non-title match. Cole noted if Big E wins, he could get a future title shot. Zayn had the brief advantage, but Big E took over with a back elbow. He followed up with the splash on the apron.

Back from the break, Zayn was in control after taking over during the break. He hit a knee to the jaw for a near fall. Zayn slowed the pace down with a chin lock. Big E fought back, but Zayn hit an elbow.

Zayn mocked Big E and imitated his dance. Big E recovered and hit a big splash. Zayn fought back and hit a cross body, but Big E caught him. Big E attempted the Big Ending, but Zayn raked the eyes.

Zayn went for the helluva kick, but Big E hit the uranage. Zayn screamed that he broke his arm, but Big E didn’t believe him. Zayn angered Big E when he slapped him in the face. Big E chased Zayn around ringside. Zayn then ran under the ring, and Big E followed.

Zayn emerged on the other side, but Big E had his leg. Zayn stomped on Big E’s head and jumped in the ring to beat the ten count for the win.

In the back, Bayley wished Carmella good luck in her match tonight. She called Sasha Banks the most overrated and overpaid superstar.

Bayley started mocking Bianca Belair. Belair showed up behind Bayley and got in her face.

Belair listed all of her accomplishments. Bayley heard enough and walked off.

In the back, Kayla Braxton interviewed Carmella. She claimed that she made Sasha Banks relevant again. Carmella bragged and is confident that she’s going to win. She called in her sommelier and wants her champagne at ringside.

They recapped Roman Reigns attacking Jey Uso and Kevin Owens last week.

Kevin Owens Promo

Roman Reigns was great in this segment again.

Reigns watched the recap on the monitor in the back. Uso approached and asked if they’re okay. Reigns was feeling confident. Suddenly, Kevin Owens’s music hit. Uso and Reigns both had a look come across their face. That was a nice subtle touch. Uso wanted to go to the ring to take care of Owens.

Owens came to the ring. He pulled out a table, ladder, and chair and set them up in the ring. Owens noted Reigns is the best he’s ever been, but he doesn’t fear him. He said that Reigns is using his family to fight his battles.

Owens claimed that TLC is the most important match of his career. He said the Reigns today can beat anyone in the WWE. Owens is going to need all the help he can get. He said his family is at home and can’t help him, but he has a few friends.

Reigns and Heyman continued to watch on the monitor in the back.

Owens first introduced his friend, chairs. He said the chairs are going to help him break a bone or two. He’s going to make it hard for Reigns to sit at the table.

Speaking of the table, Owens introduced his next friend, the table. Lastly, he presented his final friend, the ladder. Owens climbed up the ladder as he spoke.

Owens promised to do whatever it takes to climb to the top of the ladder and win the title back. Suddenly, Uso attacked Owens with the chair. He injured Owens’s knee.

Owens fought back and slammed Uso into the ladder. Owens could barely stand because of his injury.

Owens then hit the pop-up powerbomb through the table.

Reigns music hit, and he walked out with Heyman. Owens demanded Reigns come to the ring. Reigns handed the belt to Heyman. Heyman stopped him and noted he’s doing this on Owens time. Heyman told Reigns he’s the head of the table and to do it on his time.

Reigns listened to Heyman. They turned around and walked off. Owens jumped out of the ring and chased after them with a chair. He limped to the back.

Back from the break, Kayla Braxton approached Kevin Owens as he looked for Reigns in the back. Suddenly, Reigns jumped Owens from behind and beat him down.

Reigns looked into the camera with a smile. He introduced himself to the Owens family. He warned them that he’s the guy that’s going to take food off of their table if they don’t talk to their husband and father.

The Riott Squad defeated Billie Kay & Natalya

This wasn’t very good, but it was kept short.

They recapped the Riott Squad mocking Billie Kay on Talking Smack last week. Kay had to find a partner to face The Riott Squad.

The Riott Squad had the early advantage and isolated Kay on their side of the ring. Kay rocked Liv Morgan with a boot to take over. Kay and Natalya cut off Morgan from her corner and kept her on their side of the ring.

Natalya was firmly in control when Kay tagged herself in the match. Morgan knocked Kay into Natalya, and she hit her in the face. Kay barely hit Natalya in the face, so it didn’t look good.

Ruby Riott then hit the Riott kick on Kay for the win.

They showed Chad Gable training Otis. Gable threw workout balls and other objects at Otis while wearing a blindfold. Several hours later, Otis was able to catch the workout balls while still wearing the blindfold. Gable was proud of his student. This was a great training video.

Kayla Braxton interviewed Gable and Otis. They were both great here.

Gable and Otis gave each other backhanded compliments. They promised to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro later. They showed good chemistry in this interview.

Nakamura and Cesaro approached. They mocked Gable and Otis then walked off.

Actor Mario Lopez sent in a message via Twitter. Lopez and his daughter are excited about tonight’s main event and picked Banks to win.

Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro defeated Chad Gable & Otis

This was an okay short little match.

Gable and Otis had the early advantage. Otis used some mat wrestling and took Cesaro to the ground.

Gable used some mat wrestling on Cesaro as well. The heels briefly took over and isolated Gable.

Otis got the hot tag and ran wild. He hit the splash in the corner and set up for the caterpillar. Gable demanded to be tagged in because of their plan.

Gable attempted a missile dropkick, but Cesaro caught him in the giant swing. Nakamura then hit the Kinshasa for the win.

In the back, Gable approached Otis and noted he was trying to teach Otis. He didn’t want to be tagged in, so Otis dropped the ball. Gable promised that Otis would get it.

They recapped King Corbin defeating Murphy with help from Wesley Blake and Steve Culter last week. In the back, Corbin introduced Blake and Cutler as the Knights of the Lone Wolf.

Carmella defeated SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks by Disqualifcatiaction

This was an okay match with a lame disqualification finish.

Carmella has a new entrance and theme music. As Sasha Banks made her entrance, the facts on the side listed that she’s rapper Snoop Dogg’s cousin.

Carmella’s sommelier is at ringside with champagne. On commentary, Cole and Graves noted this is a surprise match since it takes place in nine days at TLC. Graves claimed that Carmella manipulated Banks into the match tonight.

Carmella had the early advantage and mocked Banks. Banks fought back and rocked Carmella with a knee. She followed up with a Meteora on the apron. Carmella recovered and dropped Banks face-first on the apron.

Back from the break, Carmella was firmly in control with a chin lock. Banks fought back with elbows and hit the double knees in the corner for a near fall. Carmella avoided the backstabber and hit a cross body for a near fall.

Carmella locked on the code of silence submission, but Banks countered into the Banks statement. The sommelier pulled Banks out of the ring. Banks jumped back in the ring and beat down Carmella in the corner. Banks wouldn’t stop, so the referee disqualified her and called for the bell.

Banks slapped the sommelier and locked on the Bank Statement. Carmella hit Banks with the superkick and beat her around ringside. Carmella picked up the wine bottle and broke it over Banks’s back.

Carmella celebrated to end SmackDown.

Next Week: SmackDown airs on FS1 instead of FOX. The SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits defend against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode. Bianca Belair goes one-on-one with Bayley.

WWE announces two matches, contract signing for SmackDown

Two matches involving champions have been announced for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn will face Big E in a non-title match on SmackDown this Friday night. Montez Ford, who is one half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, will also face Dolph Ziggler in singles action on the show.

Big E, Zayn, and Ziggler all took part in a Pat Patterson tribute match on SmackDown last week. Daniel Bryan, Big E & Rey Mysterio defeated Zayn, Ziggler & Shinsuke Nakamura when Bryan pinned Zayn with an inside cradle.

On SmackDown two weeks ago, Big E and Zayn had a tense interaction backstage after Zayn defeated Bryan by countout in a non-title match. Big E spoke about the way Zayn has been winning matches and said Zayn has no margin for error. Big E gave Zayn an intense handshake where he wouldn’t let his hand go for 10 seconds.

Ziggler & Robert Roode defeated The Street Profits in a non-title match on SmackDown two weeks ago. Roode and Cesaro then both interrupted The Street Profits in a backstage segment last week. Roode wanted him and Ziggler to get the next SmackDown Tag Team title shot and Cesaro wanted him and Nakamura to get the next shot.

WWE has also announced that there will be a contract signing on this Friday’s SmackDown. SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Carmella will take part in the contract signing ahead of Banks defending her title against Carmella at TLC. That pay-per-view is taking place on Sunday, December 20.

Sasha Banks-Carmella Women’s title match official for WWE TLC

Sasha Banks is set to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Carmella at WWE TLC. Banks challenged Carmella to the match on tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown. WWE later made the offcial match announcement on WWE.com.

The personal issue between Banks and Carmella began when the challenger laid out Banks with a superkick following Banks’ first successful title defense against Bayley. Carmella would again attack Banks the following week.

Banks got a measure of revenge on last week’s SmackDown, attacking Carmella during a backstage promo.

On this week’s SmackDown, the two participated from separate backstage locations in an interview segment conducted by Michael Cole.

Banks is in the midst of her first reign with the SmackDown Women’s Championship after winning the title from Bayley at Hell in a Cell on October 25th.

Carmella has had one prior run with the same title, holding it from April 10th to August 19th of 2018.

Carmella revealed as ‘mystery woman’ in WWE SmackDown videos

After weeks of vignettes, it was officially confirmed tonight that Carmella is making her return to WWE television

Carmella was revealed as the mystery woman who has been featured in vignettes on SmackDown over the past few weeks. She’s been off WWE TV since May’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

“Sometimes you need to take a good hard look in the mirror to remember who you are,” Carmella said in the video that aired tonight. “And I admit it, I forgot. I got a little lost along the way. But I know exactly who to blame — and that’s you. All of you. You wanted me to do things your way, play by your rules. You wanted me to dance around, have fun. And look where that got me — absolutely nowhere. Then I remembered, I’m Carmella. I’m better than each and every one of you. You know what I’m not, though? I’m not your princess anymore. So whether I get drafted to Raw or SmackDown, it doesn’t matter. Because this time, I’m untouchable — unless I don’t want to be.”

The WWE Draft will begin on SmackDown next Friday (October 9). The two-night event will then conclude on Raw (October 12).

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Otis, Carmella qualify for MITB

On last night’s SmackDown, Otis and Carmella became the brand’s final wrestlers to qualify for Money in the Bank.

A WrestleMania rematch headlined the episode, with Otis qualifying for Money in the Bank by again defeating Dolph Ziggler.

But Otis’ on-screen love interest isn’t joining him at Money in the Bank. After being distracted by Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose lost her qualifying match against Carmella on last night’s show. Deville then attacked Rose after the match.

It was announced last night that the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches are taking place simultaneously. Aleister Black, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, Baron Corbin, Otis, and the winner of a last chance gauntlet match that’s airing on Monday’s Raw are the participants for the men’s ladder match. Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, and Carmella are taking part in the women’s ladder match.

Updated MITB participants, ladder matches taking place at same time

SmackDown’s wrestlers for this year’s men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches are now officially set.

Carmella qualified for the women’s ladder match by defeating Mandy Rose on SmackDown tonight. For the men’s ladder match, Otis qualified by defeating Dolph Ziggler.

Sonya Deville appeared on the stage during the women’s qualifying match and tried to distract Rose. When Deville went to come down to the ring, Rose was distracted and Carmella hit her with a superkick to get the win. Deville then laid out Rose after the match.

All six participants for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match have been confirmed. Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, and Carmella will be in the match.

Five of the six participants for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match are set: Aleister Black, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, Baron Corbin, and Otis. The final participant will be determined by a last chance gauntlet match that’s airing on Monday’s Raw.

Money in the Bank is set for Sunday, May 10. WWE confirmed tonight that the men’s and women’s MITB ladder matches are taking place at the same time. They’re being held at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. The wrestlers are starting on the ground floor of Titan Towers, with the briefcases hanging on the roof of the building.

Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship, Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship, and Bayley vs. Tamina for the SmackDown Women’s Championship are also set for Money in the Bank.

Two MITB qualifiers, Corbin vs. Bryan set for WWE SmackDown

Two Money in the Bank qualifying matches are set for next week’s SmackDown.

On the men’s side, Otis will face Dolph Ziggler. The two have been feuding for months, mostly centering around Mandy Rose. Otis defeated Ziggler at WrestleMania 36, with Mandy Rose choosing Otis after a hacker revealed that Sonya Deville had concocted a plot to drive Mandy away from Otis.

Mandy, meanwhile, will face Carmella in the other qualifying match. Carmella’ tag team partner, Dana Brooke, qualified last week.

Daniel Bryan vs. King Corbin has also been announced. Both men have qualified for Money in the Bank, but Bryan is looking to face Corbin after he defeated his tag team partner Drew Gulak tonight to qualify.

The Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match currently has Bryan, Rey Mysterio, Aleister Black, Apollo Crews, and Corbin, while the Women’s match has Asuka, Shayna Baszler, Brooke, and Lacey Evans, who defeated Sasha Banks tonight to advance.

Super ShowDown 2020 will include WWE’s first-ever Women’s Championship match in Saudi Arabia.

WWE has announced that SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley will defend her title at Super ShowDown on Thursday, February 27. Carmella and Naomi will face off on SmackDown next week to determine who will challenge Bayley in Saudi Arabia.

Bayley retained her title against Carmella in the opening match of tonight’s SmackDown. Carmella hit a superkick on Bayley during the match, but Bayley rolled out of the ring. The finish was Bayley pinning Carmella while using the ropes for leverage.

Bayley attacked Carmella after their match tonight. Naomi then came out and went face-to-face with Bayley. Carmella pushed Bayley, then Naomi hit an enzuigiri on Bayley and Carmella gave Bayley a superkick.

Carmella and Naomi both did interviews later on SmackDown saying they wanted a title shot against Bayley.

After women’s matches weren’t permitted for the first three shows in WWE’s 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia, the first women’s match in the country took place at Crown Jewel in October 2019. Natalya defeated Lacey Evans at the show.

Super ShowDown is taking place at Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will air live on the WWE Network starting at noon Eastern time. Here’s the updated card for the event:

  • Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt defending against Goldberg
  • WWE Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Ricochet
