At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door this June, Mone won the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship from Stephanie Vaquer. She has not made any title defenses since becoming champion.

Mone is currently a double champion, but that could change at AEW All In. She has a TBS title defense against Britt Baker set for the Sunday, August 25 pay-per-view.

Capital Collision will air live as a PPV on NJPW World. NJPW also posted a video last night with Mustafa Ali responding to Hiromu Takahashi’s challenge for the event. NJPW announces Collision events for Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia

This April, NJPW is making its return to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

NJPW has announced that it will hold Capital Collision 2023 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, April 15. NJPW will then head to the 2300 Arena for Collision in Philadelphia the next night (Sunday, April 16).

Last year’s Capital Collision was a pay-per-view event that was headlined by Juice Robinson winning the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

Collision in Philadelphia was a taping for NJPW Strong last year. The 2023 edition of the event will be a PPV:

Two major events will see NJPW action rock Washington DC and Philadelphia PA this April.

On April 15, Capital Collision will return to the Washington DC Sports and Entertainment center. At Capital Collision 2022, Juice Robinson shocked the world by winning the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship in a four way battle. What happens in 2023?

The very next night, April 16 will see NJPW return to the 2300 Arena for Collision in Philadelphia. 2022 saw STRONG tapings hit the legendary former ECW Arena, while 2023 will see the event powered up into a PPV spectacular. What happens when New Japan is back in the iconic home of hardcore?

Tickets for both events go on sale on January 13!

There haven’t been any matches announced for the shows yet.

Bonus dark match added to NJPW Capital Collision

NJPW wrote:

With the main card already decided for Windy City Riot, one extra bonus match is now set for Washington DC on May 14!

Fans getting to their seats at 6:30PM local time will get to see Kevin Knight take on The DKC. With a recent clash on NJPW STRONG seeing DKC get a submission victory to move to 2-1 against Knight, can the Jet even the score?

Capital Collision will be available via Fite TV. After technical issues marred the stream for last month’s Windy City Riot PPV, NJPW has promised that there will be “significant improvements” for Saturday’s event.

Fatal four-way IWGP US title match proposed for NJPW Capital Collision

A fatal four-way IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship match has been proposed for NJPW’s Capital Collision pay-per-view.

On Twitter today, Will Ospreay posted a video challenging Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jon Moxley, and Juice Robinson to a fatal four-way match for the IWGP United States Heavyweight title at Capital Collision. The PPV is being held at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, May 14.

Tanahashi is the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion. He won the vacant title by defeating Tomohiro Ishii at Wrestling Dontaku this past Sunday.

Ospreay was originally scheduled to be Tanahashi’s opponent at Wrestling Dontaku, but Ospreay had to miss the show due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Robinson attacked Tanahashi at Wrestling Dontaku and posed with the IWGP United States Heavyweight title belt. Robinson also joined Bullet Club in the process.

Last month, Moxley challenged Tanahashi to face him at Capital Collision.

The IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship was vacated by SANADA last month due to a fractured left orbital bone.

Two matches have been confirmed for Capital Collision thus far. Ishii will face Eddie Kingston at the PPV, while Minoru Suzuki will take on Brody King.

Brody King vs. Minoru Suzuki official for NJPW Capital Collision

A new match has been made official for NJPW’s Capital Collision pay-per-view.

NJPW has confirmed that Brody King vs. Minoru Suzuki will take place at Capital Collision on Saturday, May 14. The show is being held at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.

King vs. Suzuki was set up for Capital Collision when King confronted Suzuki backstage at Windy City Riot earlier this month:

“After a hard fought war between Minoru Suzuki and Tomohiro Ishii two weeks ago at Windy City Riot, Suzuki was in a foul mood when approached by Brody King. King would demand a match against Suzuki at Washington, while professional wrestling’s King was suitably incensed at ‘Big Bad’ Brody getting in his space,” NJPW wrote.

“It didn’t take too long for the relevant arrangements to be made, and this match is now official! Brody King will go head to head with Minoru Suzuki for the first time on Saturday May 14 at Capital Collision in Washington DC!”

King debuted for AEW this January and is part of the promotion’s House of Black stable with Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews.

Here’s the updated card for Capital Collision:

  • Eddie Kingston vs. Tomohiro Ishii
  • Brody King vs. Minoru Suzuki

Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jon Moxley, and Will Ospreay are also among the talent set for Capital Collision. Moxley has issued a challenge to Tanahashi for the show.

NJPW making Washington DC debut with Capital Collision event

NJPW has announced their Washington DC debut show.

Capital Collision is set for Saturday, May 14, with a major talent lineup that includes Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, plus AEW’s Jon Moxley.

The event is scheduled while the Best of the Super Juniors tour will be taking place in Japan, so the company’s top heavyweight talent was available for shows in the US. While not explicitly stated, it appears that the event will be a pay-per-view, rather than an NJPW Strong taping.

Tomohiro Ishii, Minoru Suzuki, Will Ospreay, Jay White, and NJPW Strong Openweight Champion “Filthy” Tom Lawlor have also been announced for the show.

No matches have been announced as of yet.

Tickets for the show at the Entertainment & Sports Arena will go on sale Monday, April 4 at 12 p.m. Eastern time. Ticket prices will range from $25 to $299.
