Cameron Grimes wins hair vs. hair match at WWE NXT WarGames

Cameron Grimes defeated Duke Hudson in a hair vs. hair match on tonight’s WWE NXT WarGames pay-per-view.

Grimes used a hurricanrana and a rollup to pin Hudson after blocking Hudson’s Razor’s Edge finisher.

After the bout, Hudson tried to escape having his hair shaved off, but Grimes hit his Cave-In finisher, sat Hudson in the barber’s chair and shaved his head with clippers.

Grimes and Hudson’s feud began with a poker showdown on the November 16 edition of NXT 2.0. Grimes bluffed his way to victory against Hudson in the card game. After losing, Hudson cut some of Grimes’s hair and beard off. Grimes then issued the hair vs. hair challenge on the November 23 edition of NXT.

Grimes also defeated Andre Chase in the build to the hair match, as Chase said that he found Hudson’s attack and subsequent hair and beard trim performed on Grimes a “teachable moment.”

Cameron Grimes vs. Andre Chase added to WWE NXT

A new match has been added to tonight’s NXT.

It was announced this morning that Cameron Grimes will challenge Andre Chase following their confrontation last week on NXT. During last week’s show, Chase told Grimes that Duke Hudson attacking Grimes and cutting off his hair was a “teachable moment” for Chase’s students. Grimes didn’t seem pleased at Chase’s comments.

Already announced for tonight’s show are two ladder matches that will determine the entrance order for both of the upcoming WarGames matches taking place at the titular NXT event on December 5. The women’s match will be between Kay Lee Ray and Dakota Kai, while the men’s ladder match match will be determined by fan vote.

Other matches for tonight’s show include Kyle O’Reilly and Von Wagner facing Legado Del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde), with the winners challenging NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner) at WarGames, as well as an “all-inclusive” invitational featuring Joe Gacy. Gacy is set to challenge NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong for the title at WarGames.

Hair vs. hair match announced for WWE NXT WarGames

Cameron Grimes and Duke Hudson will each put their hair on the line when they face off at NXT WarGames.

It was announced during tonight’s NXT that Grimes will take on Hudson in a hair vs. hair match at NXT WarGames on Sunday, December 5. The match comes after Hudson attacked Grimes last week and cut some of his hair and beard off.

Grimes and Hudson took part in a poker showdown on last Tuesday’s NXT. After getting tricked into folding by Grimes, Hudson attacked Grimes and powerbombed him through the poker table. Hudson then got scissors out from under the ring and started cutting Grimes’ hair and beard.

An emotional Grimes spoke on NXT tonight and addressed what Hudson did to him last week. Grimes said people would push him around when he was a kid and tell him he wasn’t good enough, but he scratched and clawed and was able to make it in this industry. Grimes said he even struck it rich, but he kept his hair and beard to remind him of the times when he had nothing.

Grimes challenged Hudson to come out to the ring. Hudson instead appeared on the video screen and said Grimes should be thanking him for cutting his hair. When Grimes challenged him to a hair vs. hair match at NXT WarGames, Hudson accepted. Hudson said he would take the rest of Grimes’ hair.

WarGames is NXT’s first streaming special since its NXT 2.0 rebrand. The show will air live on Peacock/WWE Network.

Poker showdown, two matches set for next week’s WWE NXT

A poker showdown, as well as two matches, were announced for next week’s WWE NXT.

Duke Hudson challenged Cameron Grimes to a poker showdown after Grimes defeated Ru Feng on tonight’s program. Hudson was mad that Grimes had beat him in poker the previous week, running down his appearance and calling Grimes a hick. Grimes accepted the challenge for next week.

A six-man tag team will also take place. Diamond Mine (Roderick Strong and the Creed Brothers) will team together to take on Jacket Time (Ikemen Jiro and Kushida) and Odyssey Jones. The Creed Brothers defeated Jacket Time on this week’s NXT due to interference from Strong. Jones came out and evened the odds as retaliation for Diamond Mine’s assault on Jones the previous week.

Tony D’Angelo is also set to face Dexter Lumis on next week’s show. D’Angelo met with Indi Hartwell tonight during a promo and gave her a fish as a gift, saying it was for Lumis.

Cameron Grimes wins Million Dollar title at NXT TakeOver 36

After two unsuccessful attempts, Cameron Grimes has finally captured the Million Dollar Championship.

Grimes became the new Million Dollar Champion by defeating LA Knight at NXT TakeOver 36 on Sunday night. Grimes pinned Knight after hitting a Cave-In double stomp to the chest.

A stipulation of the match was that “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase would have had to become Knight’s butler if Grimes lost. DiBiase got involved in the finish of the match, knocking Knight down with a punch and then putting him in the Million Dollar Dream. The referee was distracted when Knight tried to use the Million Dollar title belt as a weapon.

Grimes and DiBiase hugged and DiBiase presented him with the Million Dollar title after the match.

The Million Dollar Championship was reintroduced for the first time in more than a decade when Knight defeated Grimes in a ladder match at TakeOver: In Your House this June. Knight then turned against DiBiase and attacked him following that TakeOver event.

Knight retained the Million Dollar Championship against Grimes at NXT Great American Bash last month. Grimes had to become Knight’s butler after that loss. DiBiase challenged Knight to face Grimes a third time and agreed to be Knight’s butler if Grimes didn’t win.

When Grimes entered for his match against Knight tonight, he threw his butler clothes into a trash can and revealed new gear with dollar signs on it.

There will be a Million Dollar Championship celebration with Grimes and DiBiase on Tuesday’s episode of NXT.

Million Dollar title match added to NXT TakeOver 36

Cameron Grimes is getting another shot at the Million Dollar Championship.

It was announced tonight that LA Knight will defend his Million Dollar Championship against Grimes at NXT TakeOver 36. If Grimes loses, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase will have to become Knight’s butler.

Grimes has been Knight’s butler in storyline since unsuccessfully challenging for the Million Dollar Championship at NXT Great American Bash last month. Knight won the title by defeating Grimes in a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House this June.

Knight turned against DiBiase and attacked him after TakeOver: In Your House. Grimes then made the save for DiBiase.

On last week’s NXT, Knight walked out on Grimes during a tag team match against The Grizzled Young Veterans. After Grimes lost, DiBiase came out to the ring and told Grimes that he has to find some way to get out of being Knight’s butler.

Knight defeated Andre Chase on tonight’s NXT. DiBiase then appeared after the match and challenged Knight to give Grimes another shot at the Million Dollar title. The only way Knight would agree is if DiBiase would become Knight’s butler if Grimes loses. Grimes didn’t want DiBiase to accept, but DiBiase agreed to the stipulation and the match was made official.

TakeOver 36 is taking place on Sunday, August 22. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • NXT Champion Karrion Kross defends against Samoa Joe
  • NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez defends against Dakota Kai
  • NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER defends against Ilja Dragunov
  • The Undisputed Finale: Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly (two-out-of-three falls match)
  • Million Dollar Champion LA Knight defends against Cameron Grimes (if Grimes loses, Ted DiBiase has to become Knight’s butler)

The first fall for Cole vs. O’Reilly will be a traditional wrestling match. The second fall will be a street fight. If necessary, the third fall will be a steel cage match.

Two title matches added to NXT Great American Bash

Two new title matches have been made official for NXT Great American Bash.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell will defend their titles against Io Shirai & Zoey Stark at the Great American Bash next Tuesday. It’s also been announced that LA Knight will defend his Million Dollar Championship against Cameron Grimes at the Great American Bash. If Grimes loses, he’ll have to become Knight’s butler.

Shirai & Stark became the number one contenders to LeRae & Hartwell’s titles by defeating NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai and Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon in a triple threat tag team match on NXT tonight. The finish of the match was Shirai pinning Kai after hitting a moonsault.

Knight defeated Grimes in a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House earlier this month to win the Million Dollar Championship. Knight is the first Million Dollar Champion since 2010.

Knight turned against “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase and attacked him on the post-TakeOver: In Your House episode of NXT. Grimes then made the save for DiBiase. On tonight’s show, Grimes challenged Knight to a Million Dollar Championship match next Tuesday. Knight initially declined before adding the stipulation that Grimes will have to become his butler if he loses.

This is the second straight year that WWE has presented a special Great American Bash edition of NXT. Here’s the updated card for the episode:

  • Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly
  • NXT Tag Team Champions MSK defend against Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher
  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell defend against Io Shirai & Zoey Stark
  • Million Dollar Champion LA Knight defends against Cameron Grimes

Million Dollar title returning at NXT TakeOver: In Your House

The stakes have been raised for Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

It was announced on tonight’s NXT that the Million Dollar Championship will be making its return at Sunday’s TakeOver event. Grimes vs. Knight will now be a ladder match where the winner will become the Million Dollar Champion.

The story of Grimes vs. Knight at TakeOver is that Grimes and Knight have each been vying for Ted DiBiase to choose them to be the wrestler to carry on his Million Dollar legacy. The return of the Million Dollar Championship was the “Priceless Announcement” that WWE hyped that DiBiase would be making on tonight’s NXT.

The Million Dollar Championship was first introduced by DiBiase as an unofficial title in 1989. It was most recently featured on WWE television when Ted DiBiase Jr. held it in 2010.

Here’s the updated card for TakeOver: In Your House:

  • NXT Champion Karrion Kross defends against Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano, and Adam Cole in a fatal five-way match’
  • NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez defends against Ember Moon
  • Winner-take-all six-man tag match: NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed & NXT Tag Team Champions MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) defend against Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde)
  • Ladder match for the Million Dollar Championship: Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight
  • Mercedes Martinez vs. Xia Li

Cameron Grimes to face LA Knight at NXT TakeOver: In Your House

A matchup between wrestlers vying for the attention of Ted DiBiase is set for NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight will take place at TakeOver: In Your House on Sunday, June 13. The match was announced after Grimes caused LA Knight to lose to Jake Atlas on NXT tonight.

Grimes and DiBiase had been feuding leading into them meeting for a “Million Dollar Face-Off” on NXT last week. DiBiase told Grimes that he sees a little bit of himself when he looks at Grimes. DiBiase said he was there because he’s looking for the one individual who can continue his Million Dollar legacy. DiBiase said Grimes has what it takes in the ring, but he’s lost his focus since becoming rich.

Knight then interrupted the Million Dollar Face-Off and said he can take the Million Dollar legacy to new levels. Grimes threatened Knight, but the segment ended with Knight laying Grimes out.

DiBiase watched on as Knight faced Atlas on tonight’s NXT. Grimes made his way out during the match and spoke with DiBiase. Grimes said the Million Dollar legacy should belong with him. When Knight was on the top rope, he turned his attention to Grimes and got distracted. The distraction led to Knight getting crotched on the top rope and Atlas hitting his cartwheel DDT to get the win.

DiBiase shook his head in disapproval at Knight before walking off. When he was interviewed backstage, DiBiase was asked who is truly deserving of carrying on the Million Dollar legacy. DiBiase said Knight dropped the ball tonight but Grimes showed that it takes both brains and brawn.

Atlas also picked up a win on NXT two weeks ago, defeating Grimes after Grimes was distracted by DiBiase.

  • Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight
  • Mercedes Martinez vs. Xia Li

Two matches, ‘Million Dollar Face-Off’ added to next week’s WWE NXT

WWE has announced a few additions to the lineup for next week’s NXT.

Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon will face NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai in a tag team match on NXT next Tuesday. The show will also feature Bobby Fish’s return to in-ring action as he faces Pete Dunne.

Plus, there will be a “Million Dollar Face-Off” segment with Cameron Grimes and “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase on NXT next Tuesday. DiBiase distracted Grimes tonight and caused him to lose a match against Jake Atlas. DiBiase had appeared in videos each of the past three weeks where he used his wealth to upstage Grimes.

Blackheart & Moon and Gonzalez & Kai are looking to get the first shot at Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell’s NXT Women’s Tag Team titles. Gonzalez & Kai were the inaugural NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, but they lost the titles to Blackheart & Moon on the same night that the titles were introduced. LeRae & Hartwell became NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating Blackheart & Moon in a street fight two weeks ago.

Gonzalez retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Mercedes Martinez on NXT last week. In a post-show video, Gonzalez went to Martinez and told Martinez that she respects her. Kai appeared to be angry that Gonzalez did that. Gonzalez and Kai accused interviewer McKenzie Mitchell of trying to start things when she asked them about it tonight. Kai said they can agree or disagree and still be friends.

Next week will be the first time Fish has wrestled since undergoing triceps surgery following the WarGames match where Undisputed Era defeated Pat McAfee, Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch at TakeOver: WarGames last December.

Fish returned to NXT TV last week and saved Kyle O’Reilly from an attack by Dunne and Lorcan. O’Reilly thanked Fish for saving him, but he told Fish that he’s doing his own thing now. Fish said he has his own scores to settle too and will see O’Reilly when he sees him. Fish was interviewed on NXT tonight and said last week had little to do with O’Reilly and everything to do with getting revenge on Dunne and Lorcan for injuring him.

When asked about his goals during an interview on tonight’s NXT, Dunne said it’s time for him to go after the NXT Championship.

Here’s the updated lineup for next Tuesday’s NXT:

  • NXT Champion Karrion Kross defends against Finn Balor
  • Franky Monet’s in-ring debut
  • Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon vs. Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai
  • Bobby Fish vs. Pete Dunne
  • Cameron Grimes-Ted DiBiase Million Dollar Face-Off

WWE NXT notes: Ted DiBiase appears, Diamond Mine teaser

– “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase made an appearance on tonight’s NXT and interacted with Cameron Grimes.

There was a segment on tonight’s show where Grimes went to a jewelry store and tried to buy the most expensive watch in the city. After Grimes purchased a watch from the store, DiBiase appeared next to Grimes and told him it’s not a bad watch — but it’s not a million dollar watch. DiBiase showed Grimes his own watch and laughed in Grimes’ face.

Grimes’ character became extravagantly wealthy after investing in GameStop stock and purchasing Dogecoin. DiBiase had been referenced on NXT last week when Grimes said he attempted to buy an NFT of NBA player Ja Morant, but DiBiase came in and outbid him after the auction was over.

In February, Grimes tried to copy DiBiase’s bit where he offers someone money to dribble a basketball and then kicks the ball away. After he failed to replicate the bit multiple times, Grimes got frustrated and said DiBiase isn’t smarter than him.

DiBiase said during an appearance on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast earlier this month that he was scheduled to go to the WWE Performance Center to do something involving Grimes: “As a matter of fact, I’m supposed to go down to the developmental center pretty soon. I think I’m gonna do something with that new guy, their new money guy, Cameron Grimes or something. I’m gonna have a little feud with him.”

– A teaser for “Diamond Mine” also aired on tonight’s NXT. The teaser showed footage of unidentified athletes working out at an MMA gym. “Thrive. Achieve. Succeed,” “Push Beyond, “Pressure Makes Diamonds,” “Pressure is Pleasure,” “Train. Perform. Become,” and “Fight. Win. Repeat” appeared on the screen during the teaser:

WWE had filed a trademark for “Diamond Mine” in December. This was the first teaser using the Diamond Mine name.

We now know the six wrestlers who will be taking part in the Gauntlet Eliminator match at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.

LA Knight, Dexter Lumis, Cameron Grimes, Bronson Reed, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Leon Ruff will face off in the Gauntlet Eliminator match at night one of TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. The winner of that match will challenge for Johnny Gargano’s NXT North American Championship at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night two.

The Gauntlet Eliminator match will begin with Ruff and Scott in the ring. Every three minutes, a new entrant will be added. Eliminations can occur via pinfall or submission.

Tonight’s battle royal was originally supposed to feature 12 wrestlers, but there was a storyline where Roderick Strong left the building after losing to Grimes earlier in the night. Dunne and Kushida will face off in a singles match at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night one.

Grimes’ return, three Dusty Classic matches set for next WWE NXT

– For the first time since December, Cameron Grimes is set to appear on NXT television.

WWE has announced that Grimes will make his return on next Wednesday’s episode of NXT. Grimes hasn’t appeared since an angle where his leg was attacked by Timothy Thatcher on the December 9 edition of NXT.

Grimes lost a strap match against Dexter Lumis at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in December. Grimes then lost to Tommaso Ciampa on the post-TakeOver: WarGames episode of NXT, with Grimes getting into a confrontation with Thatcher after the match and having his leg attacked. It was said the following week that Grimes would be out of action for 4-6 weeks.

Dave Meltzer reported that Grimes underwent minor surgery in December and was expected to return in late January or early February. The surgery was believed to be arthroscopic knee surgery. Meltzer wrote that Grimes’ knee had been bothering him and the decision was made to get it taken care of before it got worse.

– Next week’s NXT is the go-home show for TakeOver: Vengeance Day. The episode will also feature three Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic matches.

Both semifinal matches in the men’s Dusty Classic will take place on NXT next Wednesday. Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher will face The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake), while MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) will take on Legado Del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde. The winning teams will face each other in the men’s Dusty Classic finals at TakeOver: Vengeance Day on Sunday, February 14.

Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell will also face Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon in a women’s Dusty Classic semifinal match on NXT next Wednesday. The winning team will go on to face Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez in the tournament finals at TakeOver: Vengeance Day.

WWE NXT’s Cameron Grimes out of action for 4-6 weeks

Cameron Grimes is facing some time out of action.

On this Wednesday night’s episode of NXT, it was said that Grimes will be out of action for 4-6 weeks. Dave Meltzer has confirmed that timetable is legitimate.

The storyline explanation for Grimes’ injury was the angle where his leg was attacked by Timothy Thatcher on last week’s NXT.

Grimes faced Tommaso Ciampa on last week’s NXT episode. After being defeated by Ciampa at TakeOver: WarGames, Thatcher watched the match from a chair he set up at ringside. Ciampa hit the Willow’s Bell DDT on Grimes to get the win. Thatcher and Ciampa had a staredown and exchanged words after the match. Grimes then yelled at Thatcher for coming out to ringside for the match. Thatcher went to head to the back, but Grimes turned him around. Thatcher then grabbed Grimes’ leg and twisted his ankle.

PWinsider reported today that Grimes underwent surgery last week: “While PWInsider.com has not confirmed the nature of the issue, we can confirm that Grimes underwent a surgery last week, and is out of action until he is cleared to return.”

Grimes lost to Dexter Lumis in a strap match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames earlier this month.

Finn Balor to kick off WWE NXT, two matches set

A few announcements have been made for tonight’s post-TakeOver WarGames episode of NXT.

An appearance by NXT Champion Finn Balor will kick off tonight’s show. Balor hasn’t wrestled since suffering a broken jaw during his match against Kyle O’Reilly at TakeOver 31 this October. This will be Balor’s second in-person appearance since that event.

Two matches have also been announced for tonight. Tommaso Ciampa will face Cameron Grimes and Ember Moon will take on Raquel Gonzalez. Moon vs. Gonzalez will be tonight’s main event.

Ciampa and Grimes were both in action in singles matches at TakeOver: WarGames this past Sunday. Ciampa defeated Timothy Thatcher, while Grimes lost a strap match to Dexter Lumis. Gonzalez and Moon were on opposite sides of the women’s WarGames match.

Tonight’s NXT will feature a special look at the “Casualties of WarGames.” In the men’s WarGames match, Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, O’Reilly, Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish) defeated Team McAfee (Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch) when O’Reilly pinned Lorcan. The women’s WarGames match saw Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Gonzalez & Toni Storm) defeat Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Moon, Rhea Ripley & NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai) when Gonzalez pinned Shirai.

On his post-TakeOver media call, Paul “Triple H” Levesque said LeRae suffered a possible broken arm in WarGames and Fish suffered a laceration on his elbow. Levesque said other injuries at the show looked to be limited to bumps and bruises.
