WWE SmackDown live results: Contract signing, Zayn vs. Big E

The build to TLC continues on tonight’s SmackDown as the WWE ThunderDome debuts at Tropicana Field.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Carmella will sign the contract for their title match at TLC. Carmella returned a few weeks ago and has attacked Banks multiple times. Banks got some revenge when she recently attacked Carmella backstage.

Last week, Banks and Carmella participated in an interview but had to be in separate locations to avoid any more conflicts. Carmella mocked Banks for how hard she worked to be a WWE wrestler while it came easy to Carmella.

Big E takes on Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn in a non-title match. If Big E is victorious, he’ll likely receive a future title shot. Zayn and Big E argued two weeks ago backstage, and the segment ended with Big E crushing Zayn’s hand with a handshake. Big E and Zayn participated in the Pat Patterson tribute six-man tag match last week, with Daniel Bryan, Big E & Rey Mysterio defeating Zayn, Dolph Ziggler & Shinsuke Nakamura.

Montez Ford goes one-on-one with Ziggler tonight. Ziggler & Robert Roode defeated the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits in a non-title match a few weeks ago.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

SmackDown started with shots of the ThunderDome in Tropicana Field.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Contract Signing

SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks made her way to the ring for the contract signing. Adam Pearce welcomed Banks and noted Banks requested the match with Carmella. Banks then realized there’s no contract at the table. She freaked out and wondered if this is all a setup.

Carmella appeared on the big screen. She noted that she makes the rules and refused to be in the ring. Carmella signed the contract in the back and sent her sommelier to deliver it to the ring.

Banks signed the contract with her Boss Stamp. She doesn’t want to wait until TLC and challenged Carmella to a match tonight. Carmella agreed, so Pearce made it official. Banks then attacked Carmella’s sommelier and hit the backstabber. She then turned the table over and dropped it on him.

Carmella just watched from the back with a smile.

Kayla Braxton interviewed The Street Profits behind the entrance. She noted Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode mocked them and said they’re too funny to make money. The Street Profits made fun of Roode, and Montez Ford promised to defeat Ziggler tonight. Street Profits then made their entrance.

After the break, Dolph  Ziggler and Robert Roode made their way to ring. Ziggler made fun of the Street Profits and promised to defeat Ford tonight. Roode noted they beat them in a non-title match and vowed to win the titles.

Dolph Ziggler (w/Robert Roode) defeated Montez Ford (w/Angelo Dawkins)

Ziggler and Ford worked hard and had a good match until the distraction finish.

Ziggler had the early advantage and hit a neck breaker for a near fall. Ziggler mocked Ford. Ford recovered and gave Ziggler a slingshot into the corner. He followed up with a blockbuster, but Ziggler rolled to the floor.

Dawkins jumped in the ring and started dancing with Ford. Suddenly, blue solo cups began raining down in the ring. Ford and Dawkins celebrated with Ford making solo cup angels. Michael Cole pointed out that Ford promised it would rain blue solo cups.

Back from the break, the solo cups are gone, and Ziggler is back in control. They never showed how Ziggler regained control. Ziggler hit an elbow drop for a near fall. He then slowed the pace down with a chin lock.

Ford fought back, but Ziggler attacked the knee. Cole noted that Ziggler injured the knee during the break to regain control, which they never showed. Ziggler took back over and put the chin lock back on.

Ford fought back and hit a flying clothesline. Ziggler attempted a back suplex, but Ford landed on his feet. Ford hit a back suplex and standing moonsault. Ziggler went back to the knee and attempted the famouser, but Ford caught him.

Ford climbed to the top for the frog splash, but Roode jumped Dawkins at ringside. This distracted Ford, and Ziggler knocked him off the top. Ziggler then hit the superkick for the win.

At the merchandise table, Sami Zayn was furious that he doesn’t have a t-shirt. Apollo Crews, Kalisto, and Tamina were standing in the background.

Big E approached wearing his t-shirt. Zayn couldn’t believe that Big E has a t-shirt and he doesn’t.

Big E solved the problem, and Crews pulled out a t-shirt for Zayn. It was just a stick figure. Zayn became upset and tried to tear up the shirt but couldn’t. He blamed his injured hand and stormed off. Zayn had a brace on his hand because of the handshake from Big E two weeks ago.

Non-title match: Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn defeated Big E By Count-out

This was a fine match until the finish.

Before the match, Zayn was still furious that he didn’t have a t-shirt. He kept complaining about how WWE is treating him.

Zayn reminded Cole and Corey Graves that it’s a non-title match. Cole noted if Big E wins, he could get a future title shot. Zayn had the brief advantage, but Big E took over with a back elbow. He followed up with the splash on the apron.

Back from the break, Zayn was in control after taking over during the break. He hit a knee to the jaw for a near fall. Zayn slowed the pace down with a chin lock. Big E fought back, but Zayn hit an elbow.

Zayn mocked Big E and imitated his dance. Big E recovered and hit a big splash. Zayn fought back and hit a cross body, but Big E caught him. Big E attempted the Big Ending, but Zayn raked the eyes.

Zayn went for the helluva kick, but Big E hit the uranage. Zayn screamed that he broke his arm, but Big E didn’t believe him. Zayn angered Big E when he slapped him in the face. Big E chased Zayn around ringside. Zayn then ran under the ring, and Big E followed.

Zayn emerged on the other side, but Big E had his leg. Zayn stomped on Big E’s head and jumped in the ring to beat the ten count for the win.

In the back, Bayley wished Carmella good luck in her match tonight. She called Sasha Banks the most overrated and overpaid superstar.

Bayley started mocking Bianca Belair. Belair showed up behind Bayley and got in her face.

Belair listed all of her accomplishments. Bayley heard enough and walked off.

In the back, Kayla Braxton interviewed Carmella. She claimed that she made Sasha Banks relevant again. Carmella bragged and is confident that she’s going to win. She called in her sommelier and wants her champagne at ringside.

They recapped Roman Reigns attacking Jey Uso and Kevin Owens last week.

Kevin Owens Promo

Roman Reigns was great in this segment again.

Reigns watched the recap on the monitor in the back. Uso approached and asked if they’re okay. Reigns was feeling confident. Suddenly, Kevin Owens’s music hit. Uso and Reigns both had a look come across their face. That was a nice subtle touch. Uso wanted to go to the ring to take care of Owens.

Owens came to the ring. He pulled out a table, ladder, and chair and set them up in the ring. Owens noted Reigns is the best he’s ever been, but he doesn’t fear him. He said that Reigns is using his family to fight his battles.

Owens claimed that TLC is the most important match of his career. He said the Reigns today can beat anyone in the WWE. Owens is going to need all the help he can get. He said his family is at home and can’t help him, but he has a few friends.

Reigns and Heyman continued to watch on the monitor in the back.

Owens first introduced his friend, chairs. He said the chairs are going to help him break a bone or two. He’s going to make it hard for Reigns to sit at the table.

Speaking of the table, Owens introduced his next friend, the table. Lastly, he presented his final friend, the ladder. Owens climbed up the ladder as he spoke.

Owens promised to do whatever it takes to climb to the top of the ladder and win the title back. Suddenly, Uso attacked Owens with the chair. He injured Owens’s knee.

Owens fought back and slammed Uso into the ladder. Owens could barely stand because of his injury.

Owens then hit the pop-up powerbomb through the table.

Reigns music hit, and he walked out with Heyman. Owens demanded Reigns come to the ring. Reigns handed the belt to Heyman. Heyman stopped him and noted he’s doing this on Owens time. Heyman told Reigns he’s the head of the table and to do it on his time.

Reigns listened to Heyman. They turned around and walked off. Owens jumped out of the ring and chased after them with a chair. He limped to the back.

Back from the break, Kayla Braxton approached Kevin Owens as he looked for Reigns in the back. Suddenly, Reigns jumped Owens from behind and beat him down.

Reigns looked into the camera with a smile. He introduced himself to the Owens family. He warned them that he’s the guy that’s going to take food off of their table if they don’t talk to their husband and father.

The Riott Squad defeated Billie Kay & Natalya

This wasn’t very good, but it was kept short.

They recapped the Riott Squad mocking Billie Kay on Talking Smack last week. Kay had to find a partner to face The Riott Squad.

The Riott Squad had the early advantage and isolated Kay on their side of the ring. Kay rocked Liv Morgan with a boot to take over. Kay and Natalya cut off Morgan from her corner and kept her on their side of the ring.

Natalya was firmly in control when Kay tagged herself in the match. Morgan knocked Kay into Natalya, and she hit her in the face. Kay barely hit Natalya in the face, so it didn’t look good.

Ruby Riott then hit the Riott kick on Kay for the win.

They showed Chad Gable training Otis. Gable threw workout balls and other objects at Otis while wearing a blindfold. Several hours later, Otis was able to catch the workout balls while still wearing the blindfold. Gable was proud of his student. This was a great training video.

Kayla Braxton interviewed Gable and Otis. They were both great here.

Gable and Otis gave each other backhanded compliments. They promised to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro later. They showed good chemistry in this interview.

Nakamura and Cesaro approached. They mocked Gable and Otis then walked off.

Actor Mario Lopez sent in a message via Twitter. Lopez and his daughter are excited about tonight’s main event and picked Banks to win.

Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro defeated Chad Gable & Otis

This was an okay short little match.

Gable and Otis had the early advantage. Otis used some mat wrestling and took Cesaro to the ground.

Gable used some mat wrestling on Cesaro as well. The heels briefly took over and isolated Gable.

Otis got the hot tag and ran wild. He hit the splash in the corner and set up for the caterpillar. Gable demanded to be tagged in because of their plan.

Gable attempted a missile dropkick, but Cesaro caught him in the giant swing. Nakamura then hit the Kinshasa for the win.

In the back, Gable approached Otis and noted he was trying to teach Otis. He didn’t want to be tagged in, so Otis dropped the ball. Gable promised that Otis would get it.

They recapped King Corbin defeating Murphy with help from Wesley Blake and Steve Culter last week. In the back, Corbin introduced Blake and Cutler as the Knights of the Lone Wolf.

Carmella defeated SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks by Disqualifcatiaction

This was an okay match with a lame disqualification finish.

Carmella has a new entrance and theme music. As Sasha Banks made her entrance, the facts on the side listed that she’s rapper Snoop Dogg’s cousin.

Carmella’s sommelier is at ringside with champagne. On commentary, Cole and Graves noted this is a surprise match since it takes place in nine days at TLC. Graves claimed that Carmella manipulated Banks into the match tonight.

Carmella had the early advantage and mocked Banks. Banks fought back and rocked Carmella with a knee. She followed up with a Meteora on the apron. Carmella recovered and dropped Banks face-first on the apron.

Back from the break, Carmella was firmly in control with a chin lock. Banks fought back with elbows and hit the double knees in the corner for a near fall. Carmella avoided the backstabber and hit a cross body for a near fall.

Carmella locked on the code of silence submission, but Banks countered into the Banks statement. The sommelier pulled Banks out of the ring. Banks jumped back in the ring and beat down Carmella in the corner. Banks wouldn’t stop, so the referee disqualified her and called for the bell.

Banks slapped the sommelier and locked on the Bank Statement. Carmella hit Banks with the superkick and beat her around ringside. Carmella picked up the wine bottle and broke it over Banks’s back.

Carmella celebrated to end SmackDown.

Next Week: SmackDown airs on FS1 instead of FOX. The SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits defend against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode. Bianca Belair goes one-on-one with Bayley.

WWE announces two matches, contract signing for SmackDown

Two matches involving champions have been announced for this week’s episode of SmackDown.

Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn will face Big E in a non-title match on SmackDown this Friday night. Montez Ford, who is one half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, will also face Dolph Ziggler in singles action on the show.

Big E, Zayn, and Ziggler all took part in a Pat Patterson tribute match on SmackDown last week. Daniel Bryan, Big E & Rey Mysterio defeated Zayn, Ziggler & Shinsuke Nakamura when Bryan pinned Zayn with an inside cradle.

On SmackDown two weeks ago, Big E and Zayn had a tense interaction backstage after Zayn defeated Bryan by countout in a non-title match. Big E spoke about the way Zayn has been winning matches and said Zayn has no margin for error. Big E gave Zayn an intense handshake where he wouldn’t let his hand go for 10 seconds.

Ziggler & Robert Roode defeated The Street Profits in a non-title match on SmackDown two weeks ago. Roode and Cesaro then both interrupted The Street Profits in a backstage segment last week. Roode wanted him and Ziggler to get the next SmackDown Tag Team title shot and Cesaro wanted him and Nakamura to get the next shot.

WWE has also announced that there will be a contract signing on this Friday’s SmackDown. SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Carmella will take part in the contract signing ahead of Banks defending her title against Carmella at TLC. That pay-per-view is taking place on Sunday, December 20.

SmackDown Tag titles change hands, New Day split up in WWE Draft

After being a trio for six years, The New Day will be going their separate ways.

It comes as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods not only returned to action on tonight’s SmackDown, but won the brand’s Tag Team titles, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro. The former champions had held the titles for 82 days, defeating Big E and Kofi Kingston on April 17.

After the match, Stephanie McMahon came out and announced that the new champions would be moving to Raw. However, Big E was selected next for SmackDown, effectively splitting the New Day. All three members, who were still in the ring when the announcement was made, looked dejected.

It was later announced that a New Day farewell match would take place on next week’s SmackDown, with the trio facing Sheamus, Cesaro, and Shinsuke Nakamura.

The New Day have been a trio since 2014, winning the Raw Tag Team titles two times and the SmackDown Tag Team titles seven times.

Three matches set for WWE Draft night one episode of SmackDown

In addition to the beginning of this year’s WWE Draft, three matches have been announced for next Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

– Sasha Banks will challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

After being beaten down twice by Bayley, Banks got revenge on her former tag team partner when she attacked Bayley at Clash of Champions this past Sunday. Banks has vowed to take the one thing Bayley loves most — the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Banks said during a promo on SmackDown tonight that Bayley doesn’t stand a chance against her.

– Kevin Owens will face “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.

As part of the brand-to-brand invitational, Raw’s Owens made an appearance on SmackDown tonight and hosted a KO Show segment with Alexa Bliss as his guest. He questioned Bliss about how she’s been changed by The Fiend. The Fiend then appeared and put Owens in the Mandible Claw. After that, The Fiend and Bliss held hands after The Fiend extended his hand to her.

This will be the first time Wyatt has wrestled as The Fiend on a weekly WWE television show.

– Big E will take on Sheamus in a falls count anywhere match.

Video of a promo aired on SmackDown tonight where Big E challenged Sheamus to the falls count anywhere match for next week. Sheamus also quickly defeated Shorty G on tonight’s show.

Sheamus attacked Big E last month, taking him out of a scheduled number one contender’s fatal four-way match that Sheamus was also part of. Big E returned two weeks ago and started to attack Sheamus before Sheamus ran off.

– Also on next week’s SmackDown, Otis will “represent himself in court” as he attempts to prevent his Money in the Bank contract from being taken by The Miz.

The WWE Draft will begin on SmackDown next Friday (October 9) and then conclude with night two taking place on Raw (October 12).

Reigns segment set for SmackDown, WWE to decide first challenger

A segment with new Universal Champion Roman Reigns is set for this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

WWE has announced that Reigns “will address the WWE Universe this Friday on SmackDown with Paul Heyman in tow.” WWE hyped that Reigns will talk about his Universal title win and his alliance with Heyman.

The alliance between Reigns and Heyman was revealed at the end of last week’s episode of SmackDown. There was a show-long storyline where Adam Pearce had to get Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and Reigns to sign the contracts for their no holds barred triple threat match at Payback. Reigns told Pearce to fix the changes they need and he’d be at Payback on Sunday. Reigns said him winning the Universal Championship wasn’t a prediction — it’s a spoiler. It was then revealed that Heyman was sitting with Reigns. Heyman told Pearce to “Believe that.”

At Payback, the story was that Reigns didn’t sign the contract for the match until after it started. After The Fiend giving Strowman a superplex collapsed the ring, Reigns’ music hit and he came to the ring with Heyman. Reigns ended up pinning Strowman to win the Universal Championship.

The Fiend was Universal Champion going into Payback. He defeated Strowman to win the title at SummerSlam, but Reigns returned after the match and attacked both of them.

This week’s SmackDown will also feature a four-way match to decide Reigns’ challenger for Clash of Champions. Big E, Matt Riddle, Baron Corbin, and Sheamus will face off to determine Reigns’ challenger for the pay-per-view. Big E defeated Sheamus and Riddle defeated Corbin in singles matches at Payback.

Clash of Champions is taking place on Sunday, September 27.

Big E vs. Sheamus set for WWE Payback

A new match has been added to the card for Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view.

Big E vs. Sheamus has been made official for Payback this Sunday. The announcement of the match was made on this week’s episode of Talking Smack.

This will be Big E’s first PPV match of his current singles run. On SmackDown last week, Big E defeated Sheamus in a singles match. He rolled up Sheamus to get the pin after Sheamus was distracted by Matt Riddle and Baron Corbin fighting on the outside.

Big E and Sheamus were then on opposite sides of a six-man tag match on SmackDown last night. Big E teamed with Heavy Machinery to defeat The Miz, John Morrison & Sheamus after Sheamus walked out on his partners. The finish of the match was Big E pinning Miz after hitting the Big Ending.

Kayla Braxton and The Miz were again the hosts of Talking Smack this week. Braxton and Xavier Woods have been announced as the regular hosts of the show.

There are now seven matches confirmed for Payback. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt defending against Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns in a no holds barred triple threat match
  • Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton
  • Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Bayley defending against Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax
  • United States Champion Apollo Crews defending against Bobby Lashley
  • Rey & Dominik Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy
  • Matt Riddle vs. Baron Corbin
  • Big E vs. Sheamus

Big E ‘uninvited’ to Miz TV, six-man tag teased for WWE SmackDown

Update —

WWE posted a pre-SmackDown video with The Miz “uninviting” Big E to Miz TV. A six-man tag match between Big E & Heavy Machinery and The Miz, John Morrison & Sheamus was instead teased for the show.

**********

A discussion from last week’s Talking Smack will play a part in a segment for tonight’s SmackDown.

Following his back-and-forth with The Miz on the return episode of Talking Smack, WWE has announced that Big E will appear on Miz TV tonight:

After an impassioned back-and-forth with The Miz on ‘Talking Smack,’ Big E will restart the conversation on ‘Miz TV.’

Big E has gotten off to a scorching start with [his] singles run, but he turned up the heat even more in his confrontation with The Miz. On the return of ‘Talking Smack’ to the award-winning WWE Network, Big E spoke up about Kofi Kingston’s post-WWE Title opportunities, and The Miz was quick to fire back with his own conflicting viewpoint.

Throw in the fact that the New Day powerhouse has defeated The Miz & John Morrison in recent weeks, and it’s fair to assume fireworks will follow on ‘Miz TV.’

Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown at 8/7 C on FOX to see what happens next between Big E and The Miz.

The Miz was the guest co-host for last week’s Talking Smack. Kayla Braxton and Xavier Woods will be the regular hosts for the show, but Woods wasn’t informed of that before the announcement was made and wasn’t there for last week’s episode.

Big E appeared as a guest with Braxton and The Miz on Talking Smack last week. Big E said Kingston had his legs cut out from under him with his WWE Championship loss to Brock Lesnar and the follow-up to it. Miz compared himself to Kingston and said the same thing happened to him and he always blamed himself and not anyone else for his own failures. Big E pointed out that Miz didn’t have to wait 11 years for his first World title opportunity.

The Miz also criticized Big E’s style for not being serious enough. He said that’s the one thing Big E is missing to get to the Universal Championship picture. Big E said he’s going to be himself and will be serious when the time calls for it.

Big E defeated Sheamus on SmackDown last Friday.

Tonight’s SmackDown will feature the brand’s fallout from SummerSlam and build to Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view. Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns will take part in a contract signing tonight ahead of their triple threat no holds barred match for the Universal title at Payback.

Tag title match, Big E vs. Sheamus set for WWE SmackDown

Two matches have been added to Friday’s SummerSlam go-home episode of SmackDown.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro will defend their titles against The Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado) on SmackDown this week. This is the second title match set for the show. AJ Styles will also defend his Intercontinental title against Jeff Hardy on the episode.

Big E vs. Sheamus is the other new match that’s been announced for this week’s SmackDown.

Metalik defeated Nakamura on SmackDown last week after Nakamura was distracted by Kalisto making his return. Kalisto and Dorado took out Cesaro at ringside.

Big E defeated John Morrison last Friday. Earlier in the show, their first attempt at facing each other was interrupted by RETRIBUTION. Big E rallied the SmackDown roster backstage after that until being interrupted by Sheamus. Sheamus said Big E was alone, vulnerable, and scared.

This week’s SmackDown will see the debut of WWE’s ThunderDome virtual fan experience at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The show will also feature the final build to Braun Strowman’s Universal Championship defense against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam.

Two segments, Big E vs. Morrison added to WWE SmackDown

WWE has announced another match and two segments for this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

Big E vs. John Morrison is set for this week’s SmackDown. The match comes after Big E defeated The Miz two weeks ago, getting the first win of his current singles run.

Universal Champion Braun Strowman confronting “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt has also been announced for this week’s SmackDown, along with a sit-down interview with Alexa Bliss. Bliss will discuss her experiences with The Fiend from the past two weeks.

The main event angle of SmackDown two weeks ago saw The Fiend attack Bliss by putting her in the Mandible Claw. Last week, The Fiend appeared with Bliss again but backed off when Bliss touched his face. Strowman then appeared on the video screen, returning for the first time since his Swamp Fight against Wyatt at last month’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view. Strowman said he doesn’t care about Bliss — all he cares about is destroying Wyatt. He agreed to defend his Universal Championship against The Fiend at SummerSlam.

Friday’s SmackDown will also feature a triple brand battle royal to decide SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley’s challenger for SummerSlam. The battle royal will feature wrestlers from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. SummerSlam is taking place on Sunday, August 23.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Big E wins tag titles for New Day

New SmackDown Tag Team Champions were crowned in a one-on-one-on-one triple threat match last night.

In the main event of this week’s SmackDown, Big E defeated The Miz and Jey Uso to win the SmackDown Tag Team titles for The New Day. This is New Day’s eighth reign as Tag Team Champions.

The build to Money in the Bank also continued last night. It was confirmed that Braun Strowman will defend his Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt at the pay-per-view. The SmackDown Women’s Championship match for Money in the Bank is also official, with Tamina defeating Sasha Banks last night to get a shot at Bayley’s title.

Daniel Bryan defeated Cesaro to qualify for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, while Dana Brooke qualified for the women’s ladder match by defeating Naomi.

It was advertised that Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose would attempt to clear the air last night, but the segment instead saw Deville cut a promo revealing what she really thinks of Rose.

New WWE SmackDown Tag Team champions crowned

The New Day are once again the SmackDown Tag Team champions.

Tonight’s match, a triple threat singles match featuring Big E, Jey Uso and champion The Miz ended when Miz put the figure four on Jey Uso. Big E broke up the submission attempt by grabbing Miz, lifting him up and pinning him after landing the Big Ending.

With this win, The New Day are now eight time Tag Team champions. The most Tag Team title wins within the WWE are The Dudley Boyz, who are nine time champions.

The triple threat match was similar to a ladder match held at WrestleMania 36, when Kofi Kingston, Jimmy Uso and John Morrison faced off in a ladder match after The Miz was unable to compete. Morrison retained the titles for his team.

The Miz and John Morrison held the titles for 50 days, defeating The New Day at Super ShowDown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 27.

Tag title match, Tamina vs. Banks set for next week’s WWE SmackDown

The SmackDown Tag Team titles will be on the line in another one-on-one-on-one match next week.

WWE has announced that The Miz will defend the SmackDown Tag Team titles against Big E and Jey Uso in a triple threat match next Friday. Those are the three wrestlers who didn’t represent their teams in the triple threat ladder match for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 36.

John Morrison faced Kofi Kingston and Jimmy Uso in the WrestleMania ladder match after Miz was flagged from performing due to being sick. The storyline explanation for the match being changed was that Miz was injured in a brawl on SmackDown last week.

Miz vs. Big E vs. Jey Uso was announced for next Friday during a segment where The Usos and New Day interrupted Miz and Morrison on SmackDown tonight.

In another match with title implications, Tamina will face Sasha Banks on next Friday’s SmackDown. If Tamina wins, she’ll become the number one contender to Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Bayley retained her title against Lacey Evans, Banks, Naomi, and Tamina in a fatal five-way elimination match at WrestleMania. On SmackDown tonight, Tamina said it took everyone else in the match to eliminate her and challenged Bayley to a one-on-one title match. Bayley said she’d have to defeat Banks first, and the storyline was that Banks didn’t look happy about Bayley volunteering her for the match.

Daniel Bryan vs. Cesaro and Naomi vs. Dana Brooke in Money in the Bank qualifying matches will also take place on SmackDown next week. Plus, there will be a segment where Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose will attempt to clear the air and settle the issues between them.

SmackDown Tag Team title match official for WWE Super ShowDown

The Miz & John Morrison are getting a SmackDown Tag Team title shot when WWE returns to Saudi Arabia next month.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E) will defend their titles against Miz & Morrison at Super ShowDown on Thursday, February 27. Miz & Morrison were set up as New Day’s challengers by defeating The Revival, The Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado), and Heavy Machinery in a fatal four-way number one contender’s match on SmackDown tonight.

After The Miz gave Scott Dawson the Skull Crushing Finale, Morrison pinned him with Starship Pain. The Revival had hit a double-team superplex/splash combo on Dorado, but Miz tagged himself in during it.

Tonight was the first time Miz & Morrison have teamed together since Morrison’s return. They’ve been feuding with New Day since Morrison came back to WWE television earlier this month.

This is the first match announced for Super ShowDown. The show is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will air live on the WWE Network starting at noon Eastern time.

John Morrison to face Big E on WWE SmackDown next week

John Morrison will be back in action on next week’s episode of SmackDown.

WWE has announced that Morrison vs. Big E will take place on SmackDown next Friday. This is the first announced match for Morrison since he made his return to WWE.

Morrison’s appearance on Miz TV kicked off tonight’s SmackDown. Morrison said he was disappointed in the fans for turning against The Miz just because Miz had a bad day when he attacked Kofi Kingston after their match last week.

Kingston and Big E interrupted the Miz TV segment, and Miz mocked Kingston for how quickly he lost the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar. Miz then faced Kingston in a match that started with Morrison and Big E both on commentary.

Morrison and Big E moved to ringside after Miz shoved Kingston into Big E. Miz got into it with Big E on the outside, Morrison hit a move where he jumped off the steps and laid out Big E, and Miz won with the Skull Crushing Finale after Kingston was distracted.

In storyline, Miz has been unraveling since his feud with Bray Wyatt.

The Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina is hosting next week’s SmackDown. It will be the second-to-last episode of the show before the Royal Rumble.

New Day, Street Profits sign multi-year extensions with WWE

Four more wrestlers have signed multi-year extensions with WWE.

On last night’s WWE Backstage, it was announced that Big E, Xavier Woods, and The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) have signed new multi-year deals with WWE. WWE noted that all three members of The New Day “solidified a pact of identical length and compensation on their contracts to maintain equal status among the team.”

Kofi Kingston had revealed on this week’s episode of The New Day’s Feel the Power podcast that he recently signed a new five-year contract with WWE.

Kingston & Big E are the current SmackDown Tag Team Champions. They retained their titles against The Revival in a ladder match at Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view.

Woods is out of action after suffering a torn Achilles tendon at a WWE house show in October.

Former NXT Tag Team Champions Dawkins & Ford lost to The Viking Raiders after answering their open challenge on Raw’s go-home show for TLC last week. Dawkins & Ford also hosted a “Monday after Weekend Update” segment where they parodied Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update and looked ahead to TLC.
