Three matches announced for WWE Raw, Big Show & Flair to appear

WWE has announced three matches and a segment that will be airing on tonight’s episode of Raw.

United States Champion Apollo Crews vs. MVP in a non-title match, The Viking Raiders vs. Andrade & Angel Garza, and Akira Tozawa defending the 24/7 Championship against R-Truth are set for the episode.

WWE has also announced that Big Show and Ric Flair will appear on tonight’s Raw. Big Show confronted Randy Orton and Flair last week during the segment where Flair was anointing Orton as the greatest wrestler ever.

Crews defeated Shelton Benjamin in non-title matches on Raw each of the past two weeks. MVP has been trying to recruit Crews and there was a VIP Lounge segment with the two of them last week. MVP mentioned his previous 343-day reign as United States Champion and said that — whether Crews likes it or not — the US title is coming back home to him where it belongs.

A distraction by MVP allowed Benjamin to attack Crews before their match last week. After the match, Bobby Lashley put Crews in a full nelson.

Tozawa won the 24/7 title from R-Truth last week after MVP and Lashley took out Tozawa’s ninjas and Lashley put Truth in the full nelson.

The Street Profits retained their Raw Tag Team titles against The Viking Raiders on last Monday’s show. Andrade & Garza attacked The Street Profits after until The Viking Raiders made the save.

Tonight’s Raw was supposed to be taped last Friday, but the tapings for the show were pushed back to Saturday. It was confirmed last week that multiple people in WWE have tested positive for COVID-19.

Tonight’s show will feature a double contract signing for Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship and Asuka vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules. The contract signing will be hosted by Samoa Joe and will feature all of the participants in the ring at the same time. The feud between Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio will also continue tonight.

WWE Raw video highlights: Drew McIntyre vs. Angel Garza

For the second straight week, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defeated one of the members of Zelina Vega’s stable in the main event of Raw.

A non-title match between McIntyre and Angel Garza headlined last night’s show. McIntyre had defeated United States Champion Andrade in a non-title champion vs. champion match the previous week.

It was also confirmed that McIntyre will defend his WWE Championship against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank. After being attacked by Rollins last week, McIntyre started last night’s show off by challenging Rollins to face him at the pay-per-view. Rollins accepted McIntyre’s challenge later in the night.

Three Money in the Bank qualifying matches took place this week. Aleister Black defeated Austin Theory, Apollo Crews defeated MVP, and Rey Mysterio defeated Murphy.

Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax, and Asuka are Raw’s participants for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Baszler and Jax both got wins last night, with Baszler destroying the arm of Indi Hartwell and Jax again defeating Kairi Sane.

Bianca Belair officially called up to WWE Raw

Following her appearance at WrestleMania, Bianca Belair’s call-up to Raw was officially confirmed tonight.

Belair again appeared after The Street Profits defended their Raw Tag Team titles against Angel Garza & Austin Theory. Tonight’s match ended in a disqualification when Zelina Vega interfered and grabbed Montez Ford’s leg as he was going for a move off the top rope. Like at WrestleMania, Garza and Theory held up Ford so that Vega could kick him. Belair then made the save for her husband.

Vega and The Street Profits cleared the ring, with Belair then challenging Vega to a match.

“I go here now,” Belair declared. “Bianca Belair, the EST of NXT, is the EST of WWE.”

Belair vs. Vega also ended without a decisive finish due to a brawl between The Street Profits and Garza & Theory coming spilling into the ring. That led to a six-person tag match where Belair & The Street Profits won after Belair gave Vega the KOD.

Belair was last in action on NXT when she faced Charlotte Flair on February 26.

Austin Theory replacing Andrade at WWE WrestleMania 36

Andrade’s replacement for WrestleMania 36 was officially confirmed on tonight’s Raw.

It was announced on Raw that a six-man tag match with Andrade, Angel Garza & Seth Rollins facing The Street Profits & Kevin Owens would be taking place later in the show, but Austin Theory replaced Andrade in the match. It was later made official that Theory is also replacing Andrade at WrestleMania, with Garza & Theory challenging The Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team titles.

Owens pinned Garza to win tonight’s match but was immediately given a stomp by Rollins after.

When Garza made his entrance for the six-man tag, Zelina Vega announced that Andrade wasn’t cleared to compete due to a rib injury. Vega said she has access to the hottest young talent in WWE, then introduced Theory. She called him a 22-year-old sensation and said he’s the hottest free agent no more.

Theory signing with WWE was announced in August 2019. He’s a former EVOLVE Champion.

Theory was in action on NXT last week and lost to Tyler Breeze.

WrestleMania 36 is airing on the WWE Network on Saturday (April 4) and Sunday (April 5). The two-night event was taped last week.

Two new matches official for WWE WrestleMania 36

Two new matches have been made official for WrestleMania 36.

WWE announced today that The Street Profits will defend their Raw Tag Team titles against Andrade & Angel Garza at WrestleMania. Aleister Black vs. Bobby Lashley has also been confirmed for the show.

The Street Profits have been Raw Tag Team Champions since winning the titles from Seth Rollins & Murphy on the March 2 episode of Raw. They also retained against Rollins & Murphy in a rematch at Elimination Chamber.

In addition to challenging for the Raw Tag Team titles at WrestleMania, Andrade is the current United States Champion. He lost a non-title match to Rey Mysterio on Raw last week.

WrestleMania 36 is airing on the WWE Network across two nights on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 and will be hosted by Rob Gronkowski. The show is expected to be taped this week. It will “not only take place at WWE’s training facility but will include multiple locations over two nights.”

Rey Mysterio vs. Angel Garza set for WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre in action

WWE has made a couple of announcements for tonight’s post-Elimination Chamber episode of Raw.

Rey Mysterio vs. Angel Garza has been made official for the episode. Drew McIntyre will also be in action on the show, though his opponent has yet to be announced.

Humberto Carrillo & Mysterio defeated Andrade & Garza in a tag match on Raw last week. That set up a United States title match between Andrade and Carrillo for Elimination Chamber. Andrade retained in that match, with him pinning Carrillo while holding his tights for leverage.

When Garza made his Raw debut last month, he laid out Mysterio with a DDT on the exposed floor after Mysterio had made a save for Carrillo.

McIntyre will challenge for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36. On last week’s Raw, McIntyre laid out Lesnar with three Claymore Kicks.

Tonight’s Raw is taking place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. After the angle where Randy Orton gave Beth Phoenix an RKO last week, Edge will make his return to WWE television tonight.

Three matches added to WWE Super ShowDown

Ahead of the show taking place tomorrow, WWE has added three more matches to the card for Super ShowDown.

Two of the newly announced matches will take place on the main card, while the other is set for the Super ShowDown pre-show. Mansoor vs. Dolph Ziggler and Angel Garza vs. Humberto Carrillo are set for the main card. The Viking Raiders will face Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson on the pre-show.

NXT’s Mansoor has been pushed as a hometown hero at WWE’s events in Saudi Arabia, winning the 50-man battle royal at last year’s Super ShowDown and defeating Cesaro at Crown Jewel in October.

Garza defeated Carrillo in their match on this week’s Raw. They’ll face off again in a tag team match next Monday, with Garza teaming with Andrade against Carrillo & Rey Mysterio.

At October’s Crown Jewel event, Gallows & Anderson last eliminated The Viking Raiders to win the World Cup tag team turmoil match.

The Super ShowDown pre-show will begin on the WWE Network at 11 a.m. Eastern time tomorrow, with the main card starting an hour later. The show is taking place at Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh.

Here’s the updated lineup:

  • Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt defending against Goldberg
  • WWE Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Ricochet
  • Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin in a steel cage match
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley defending against Naomi
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E) defending against The Miz & John Morrison
  • Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Murphy defending against The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
  • Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet match (AJ Styles, Andrade, Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley, Erick Rowan, and R-Truth)
  • Mansoor vs. Dolph Ziggler
  • Angel Garza vs. Humberto Carrillo
  • The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs. The O.C. (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson)

Two matches set for WWE Raw next week, Beth Phoenix to appear

WWE has already made a few announcements for next week’s episode of Raw.

AJ Styles vs. Aleister Black will take place on Raw next Monday, along with Rey Mysterio & Humberto Carrillo vs. Andrade & Angel Garza. This will be Andrade’s return to Raw after the conclusion of his 30-day suspension for a wellness policy violation. With the suspension up, he’ll be returning to the ring as part of the Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet match at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia this Thursday.

Beth Phoenix is also set to appear on Raw next week. Her appearance will further the build to Randy Orton vs. Edge at WrestleMania 36, with Phoenix providing an update on Edge’s condition following the angle where he was attacked by Orton last month.

Black was attacked by The O.C. on Raw tonight and then challenged Styles for next week after defeating Erick Rowan.

After trading pinning attempts near the finish, Garza defeated Carrillo in their match on tonight’s Raw.

Next week’s Raw is taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It will be the first episode of the show after Super ShowDown.

Tag match, Seth Rollins sermon set for WWE Raw

A tag team match has been announced for this Monday’s Raw.

Rusev and Humberto Carrillo will team together to take on Bobby Lashley and Angel Garza. Rusev and Lashley have been feuding for the last several months, with Lashley pinning Rusev back on the January 20 edition of Raw in a mixed tag team match that also featured Lana and Liv Morgan.

Angel Garza made his debut on Raw two weeks ago, aligning himself with Andrade’s business partner Zelina Vega. Despite being cousins, Garza attacked Carrillo in his debut and later laid out Rey Mysterio with a DDT on exposed concrete outside of the ring.

It was also announced that a “sermon” from Seth Rollins will take place on Monday’s Raw. In recent months, Seth Rollins has been calling himself the Monday Night Messiah.

A no holds barred match is also set, with Randy Orton taking on Matt Hardy after Orton gave Hardy a con-chair-to last week. Hardy had confronted Orton about Orton’s attack on Edge from two weeks ago.

Monday’s Raw will take place at the Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington.

Cruiserweight title number one contender’s match set for NXT

A number one contender’s match on this week’s NXT will decide the first challenger for Jordan Devlin’s Cruiserweight title.

Lio Rush and Angel Garza will face off on NXT tomorrow night, with the winner becoming the number one contender to NXT Cruiserweight Champion Devlin. WWE hasn’t announced when the winner will be getting their title shot.

Devlin was in action in non-title matches on both NXT and 205 Live last week. He defeated Tyler Breeze on NXT and Tony Nese and Rush in a triple threat match on 205 Live. Nese was pinned in that triple threat.

Garza defeated Isaiah “Swerve” Scott on NXT last Wednesday, then cut a promo saying he wants the Cruiserweight Championship back. Garza also defeated Cedric Alexander on Raw last night.

Devlin became the Cruiserweight Champion by defeating Garza, Scott, and Travis Banks in a fatal four-way match at Worlds Collide over Royal Rumble weekend. Garza appeared to have the match won near the finish, but Devlin gave him a headbutt and then pinned Scott after hitting Devlin Side.

Tomorrow’s NXT is the go-home show for TakeOver: Portland. The TakeOver special is being held at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon on Sunday.

Angel Garza debuts on WWE Raw, takes on Rey Mysterio

Image: WWE

Two weeks after losing his NXT Cruiserweight title at Worlds Collide, Angel Garza debuted on WWE Raw Monday, flanked by Zelina Vega.

As a follow-up to last week’s Raw angle where Humberto Carrillo injured U.S. Champion Andrade, Carrillo was waiting in the ring for an opponent when Garza’s music hit, surprising him. Vega did a promo introducing Garza (Carrillo’s cousin) before Garza cut a promo on Carrillo about letting their family down. Carrillo grabbed the mic away, leading to Vega slapping him and Garza attacking, eventually hitting the Wing Clipper.

Garza kept up the attack, throwing Carrillo into the ringside steps and pulling away the mats to expose the concrete floor as a callback to the Carrillo-Andrade angle. Rey Mysterio then ran out from the back to prevent it which led to a match made during the commercial break. After a lengthy match, Garza hit a hammerlock DDT on the exposed concrete, resulting in a DQ loss.

The 27-year-old signed with WWE last April and has mainly been on NXT TV and 205 Live.

Last week, Andrade was suspended for 30 days for violating the WWE Wellness Policy, leaving Vega on the sidelines.

WWE 205 Live results: Tyler Breeze vs. Angel Garza

The presentation of the new NXT Cruiserweight title belt from Saturday was shown, along with Jordan Devlin winning the championship in the fatal four-way match at Worlds Collide.

The capper of “For the first time ever, the NXT Cruiserweight title is in the hands of an NXT UK superstar” wasn’t exactly the “boyhood dream has come true!” of its era, but it was an attempt to make the moment seem important.

Jon Quasto and Aiden English were on commentary this week. Ariya Daivari helping Brian Kendrick defeat Danny Burch last week was shown to set up a rematch between Burch and Kendrick tonight. Tyler Breeze faces Angel Garza in the main event on the road to WrestleMania.

Even with his DJZ-esque air horn in his intro, Joaquin Wilde came out to dead silence.

Joaquin Wilde defeated Raul Mendoza

English talked about Wilde bringing unreal energy, and he did the air horn bit to no reaction. A long headlock by Mendoza led to them fighting over an Irish whip before trading one counts from leg trips.

Mendoza got a “Woo” from the crowd off some corner chops before locking up the arm for a bit. Wilde went up and ate a dropkick to the stomach before a spinning uranage got two. Wilde hit a poison rana, the recoil, and the Wilde Thing ended it.

Everything but the actual finish looked good — just popping a guy up into a pair of boots doesn’t look like it should do much damage.

Danny Burch defeated Brian Kendrick (w/ Ariya Daivari) by DQ

Kendrick stalled on the floor for a while before Burch fought him on the floor and threw him into the steps. He tossed Kendrick into the barricade before Kendrick threw Burch over the announce table, with Burch selling his left knee.

Kendrick worked away on the knee before attacking Burch’s throat on the rope. Daivari tried to get involved, but Burch fought him off and then landed a corner lariat and a high kick.

A missile dropkick got two for Burch. Daivari tried to help Kendrick get the win like last week, but the referee caught him this time. Burch hit a headbutt and locked on a crossface, but Daivari attacked for the disqualification. This actually got a chorus of boos, so that was impressive.

Kendrick ran a chair into the back of Burch’s left knee and went to Pillmanize him until Oney Lorcan returned and ran out with his own steel chair to make the save.

It was announced that NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin will make his 205 Live debut next week.

Angel Garza defeated Tyler Breeze

Garza entered with his right shoulder covered in kinesio tape, which may not be the best thing for him since his shoulder’s been an issue for years.

They fought over a lock-up for a bit before Garza got tackled and Breeze posed. Garza stopped on an Irish whip and teased taking off his tear-away pants, but Breeze hit an enzuigiri to prevent it. Garza faked Breeze out mid-ring and they went back and forth until Garza faked him out on the fakeout, pulled him to the floor, and put the boots to him.

Garza put Breeze in the second rope and booted the stomach for two before hitting a shotgun dropkick. The pants were then off! That got the best reaction of the night, then Garza hit a PK in a tree-of-woe position for two.

Breeze hit a flying forearm and a dropkick from the side before a big corner forearm shot. The Supermodel Kick hit for 2.5. Breeze then went for a kick, but Garza landed a hard knee for two.

Garza hit a dropkick and went up for a moonsault, but Breeze rolled to the other side. They repeated it and Garza attacked before a springboard moonsault met the boots of Breeze. Breeze got a small package for two before the Wing Clipper gave Garza the win and handed Breeze his first loss on 205 Live.

Isaiah Scott advances to Worlds Collide Cruiserweight title match

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott will be one of Angel Garza’s challengers at Worlds Collide.

Scott advanced to the Worlds Collide Cruiserweight title match by defeating Tyler Breeze and Lio Rush in a triple threat match on NXT tonight. Scott pinned Breeze with the JML Driver to get the win.

Garza will defend his title against Breeze and two wrestlers from NXT UK in a fatal four-way match at Wolds Collide. The NXT UK wrestlers who will be in the match have yet to be revealed.

Garza has been Cruiserweight Champion since winning the title from Rush on the December 11 episode of NXT.

The NXT vs. NXT UK Worlds Collide special is taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Saturday, January 25. That’s the night before Houston’s Minute Maid Park hosts Royal Rumble 2020.

Worlds Collide will air live on the WWE Network. Here’s the updated card:

  • Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong) vs. Imperium (WALTER, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner & Alexander Wolfe)
  • NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley defending against Toni Storm
  • DIY (Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) vs. Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate)
  • Finn Balor vs. Ilja Dragunov
  • NXT Cruiserweight Champion Angel Garza defending against Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and two NXT UK wrestlers in a fatal four-way match

Angel Garza to defend Cruiserweight title at WWE Worlds Collide

The NXT Cruiserweight Championship will be on the line at WWE’s Worlds Collide special during Royal Rumble weekend.

On this morning’s episode of WWE’s The Bump, it was announced that Angel Garza will defend his Cruiserweight title in a fatal four-way match at Worlds Collide. There will be a triple threat match between Lio Rush, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Tyler Breeze on NXT tonight to determine one of Garza’s challengers for the Worlds Collide bout.

It was noted that the other two wrestlers in the fatal four-way match will be from NXT UK. NXT vs. NXT UK is the theme of Worlds Collide.

Breeze made his cruiserweight division debut by defeating Tony Nese on last week’s 205 Live. Rush vs. Scott was set for the episode, but there was an angle where The Singh Brothers interrupted the match as it was going on. It was turned into a tag match with Rush & Scott defeating The Singhs.

Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong) vs. Imperium (WALTER, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner & Alexander Wolfe), NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley defending her title against Toni Storm, and Finn Balor vs. Ilja Dragunov are also set for Worlds Collide.

Worlds Collide is being held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Saturday, January 25. It will air live on the WWE Network.

Angel Garza wins NXT Cruiserweight title, gets engaged

Angel Garza is the new NXT Cruiserweight champion and is also engaged following WWE NXT Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old Garza submitted Lio Rush to win the title in a fantastic match that opened up the show. It’s the first taste of NXT gold for Garza who signed with WWE this spring.

Following the match and while NXT was in commercial, Garza did a babyface promo and brought his girlfriend into the ring. He pulled out the ring and asked her in Spanish to marry him. They aired the proposal when they came back from break.

Garza is the first Mexican-born Cruiserweight champion, a title revived in 2016 by WWE and rebranded as an NXT belt that can also be defended on 205 Live. Rush won the title in early-October and held the title for 63 days.
