Wrestling Observer Live: Punk shoots on Page, Omega returns, NXT UK changes

On the Sunday edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Andrew Zarian is joined by Kate Elizabeth from Fightful to discuss another newsworthy week in wrestling.

CM Punk opened this week’s AEW Dynamite by cutting an unplanned promo on Hangman Page that left most confused since he was thought to initially be facing Jon Moxley at All Out. We discuss the possibility of this being a work and why he did it in the first place.

That aforementioned main event was moved to this week’s Dynamite as Moxley and Punk will unify the AEW World title. Is it possible AEW is doing this now to set up a bigger angle for All Out or to set up a big return?

WWE is rebranding NXT UK into NXT Europe starting next year and in doing so, they cut a bunch of talent. Kate has thoughts on why that is a good thing for talent and what the overall direction of NXT could be going forward.

Plus, we talked Okada winning the G1, a breakdown of the current card for All Out, and more!

Now that Vince McMahon has resigned from WWE, there was a lot of fallout this week, including Paul “Triple H” Levesque being named head of creative and WWE announcing the rewriting of financial statements to account for McMahon’s hush money payments.

ROH Death Before Dishonor was last Saturday when Claudio Castagnoli won their world championship from Jonathan Gresham…who then asked for his release after the show. We discuss the fallout and what it means for Gresham going forward.

AEW Dynamite focused a lot on getting younger talents over, including Jungle Boy and Ricky Starks both giving career-altering promos. We also look at the possibility of guys maybe wanting to go back to WWE now that leadership has changed.
