Global Force Wrestling has suspended Alberto El Patron until the investigation into him for domestic battery is resolved.
The company issued a statement today: “Global Force Wrestling has indefinitely suspended Alberto El Patron, effective immediately, until the investigation is resolved following a recent incident in Orlando, Florida.”
Prior to suspending him, GFW had noted that they were taking the incident seriously and that they would fully investigate it and cooperate with law enforcement.
El Patron was detained at the Orlando International Airport on Sunday following what one witness referred to as “an altercation” between him and Paige. TMZ later released audio of the incident, confirming that it was between El Patron and Paige after Paige had tweeted that they were the ones to get police involved after a fan threw a drink into El Patron’s face.
In posts on Facebook, Paige’s brothers both alleged that El Patron has physically abused their sister.

GFW Champion Alberto El Patron is being investigated for an alleged domestic violence incident at the Orlando International Airport yesterday.
Orlando police made a statement confirming that El Patron was detained at the airport: “There was an incident at the Orlando International Airport at about 3 p.m. Sunday involving Jose Rodriguez (DOB 5/25/1977). The reported incident was a domestic violence battery, and it is still under investigation. No arrests have been made as of this time, but the case remains open. That is all the information we have for release at this time.”
In a report from TMZ Sports, it was noted that witnesses confirmed that El Patron was arguing with a woman in an airport terminal until cops were called when things escalated, with one witness saying that there was “an altercation.”
Police wouldn’t release the name of the alleged victim, but witnesses told TMZ that El Patron’s fiancee Paige was at the airport with him. He and Paige had broken up a few weeks ago, but were back together days later.
El Patron had been in Orlando all week for the GFW/Impact television tapings, but he missed a booking for Delgado Promotions in El Paso, Texas yesterday. Airline problems were the reason given by the promotion for him missing that show.
PWInsider first reported the incident earlier today.
UPDATE: TMZ posted audio of some of the incident, confirming that it was between El Patron and Paige.

Later, Prichard held a board meeting and El Patron relinquished the title. El Patron would only give up the title if he could get a rematch with Lashley. Prichard and Dutch Mantell said it was up to Lashley.
El Patron came down to the ring to challenge Lashley to a rematch. El Patron demanded Lashley come out but Ethan Carter III instead hit the ring. EC3 wanted a title shot as well and challenged El Patron to a number one contender’s match.

Brandi Rhodes vs. Kayci Quinn never got started
Before the match could start, Cody ran down to the ring. He refused to allow Brandi to compete and won’t allow Impact to “pimp out” the Rhodes name anymore. Cody gave Quinn $45 not to compete and said it was $20 more than Impact was going to pay her. Cody challenged Moose for the Impact Grand Championship and then forced Brandi to leave.
– Rosemary attacked Quinn during the commercial break and was in the process of beating her down when we came back. She finished her off by hitting the Red Wedding.

Sienna came out after the match and promised to put Allie in the hospital.
– Prichard came down to the ring to discuss the status of the Impact World Tag Team Championship. He said the titles could only be won in the ring and not the internet. In two weeks, the top four teams will compete to crown new champions. This brought out Decay, Reno SCUM, and Laredo Kid & Garza Jr., who all want in on the match to crown new champions.
A brief brawl broke out with Decay clearing the ring and standing tall. Suddenly, LAX made their return to Impact. They beat down Decay and were the last team standing. The show ended with LAX celebrating. LAX now consists of Konnan, Homicide, Angel Ortiz, Mike Draztik, and Angel Rose.
Next Week: In two weeks, Impact will crown brand new Tag Team Champions. However, next week will feature the return of “she.”
Here’s some additional notes from Thursdays night’s Impact Wrestling tapings, but first, catch up here for some news on Alberto El Patron appearing at the tapings.
From Dave Meltzer:
– They said that someone will be at the tapings Friday that will become the talk of the wrestling world. Given that just about everyone is under contract somewhere and New Japan isn’t keen on its talent working for TNA, the options are limited.

– Bruce Prichard did his promo burying Impact and how there were all kinds of great people in the promotion before but the previous management never gave them a chance. He announced TNA was no more and that there are new owners, new management, and a new name.
He said they are starting the new company with the greatest hybrid athlete in the world as champion, Bobby Lashley, who nobody could beat. Alberto El Patron came out and challenged Lashley. Ethan Carter III came out and said there is no way Alberto could come in and get a title shot on his first night ahead of all the people who had been with the company.
Carter said he should get the title match. Lashley turned him down saying he’s already had his chances and failed, and agreed to face Alberto.

Reader Markus Gronemann contributed to this report.
Local police confirmed Monday’s report in the Austrian tabloid Krone about an altercation involving Alberto Rodriguez (Alberto El Patron) and his brother Guillermo (El Hijo de Dos Caras) early Saturday morning at a party after a Friday night show in Leoben, Austria.
The report was that after a show Friday night, there was an altercation where the two brothers got into a fight and beat a guy up so badly he was hospitalized. Police were called and took them to the station where Alberto and Guillermo got into a fight with each other. Alberto knocked out his brother, who was also taken to the hospital. It took ten officers to separate them and they put Alberto in zip ties, which he broke out of. They finally subdued him by putting shackles to cuff his feet.
The story stated there was blood splattered on the walls of the police station and some furniture at the station was destroyed. The police confirmed the story, but would not release specific names, but stated the Krone article was greatly exaggerated.
According to press officer Fritz Grundnig, there was a brawl at a party in a barn between a 26-year-old Austrian and two brothers who are Mexican citizens ages 30 and 39. The Austrian received undetermined injuries, bruises, contusions but no broken bones, and was treated at a local hospital. After treatment, he left the hospital.
The two Mexican nationals were brought to the precinct where they “suddenly started attacking each other.” The 30-year-old (Guillermo) was slightly injured and brought to a local hospital and received outpatient treatment. During the fight, a wooden desk, a wooden chair and some plastic filings were damaged and the floor and walls of the room were stained by splattered blood. But, the property damage was described as minimal.
Both were temporarily arrested, and after consulting with the local office of the district attorney, charges were filed against both for assault and damage to property. Both men were released on bond.
Police confirmed to GMX that they attempted to handcuff Alberto when he and his brother were fighting, but the handcuffs were too small, and that Alberto did rip through some zip ties, but he calmed down quickly when put in ankle shackles. His brother was said to have been bleeding very heavily but didn’t appear to be injured that badly.
The two were allowed to leave the country and the charges were forwarded to authorities in both men’s place of residence.
According to one of the promotions that booked him, former WWE Champion and current AAA Mega Champion Alberto El Patron has backed out of two European bookings this weekend due to a disagreement about the type of flight he was booked on.
El Patron and brother El Hijo de Dos Caras were scheduled to appear on Friday for Swiss Wrestling Entertainment (SWE) in Bern, Germany, and on Saturday for Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) in Mannheim, Germany. According to a post on wXW’s website (translated by reader Markus Gronemann), El Patron backed out with six days notice because the promotion had him booked in the Economy Plus class when he wanted to fly Business Class instead. wXw’s and SWE’s promoters said the cost would be $7000 USD to make the change on short notice and refused. This is the second time El Patron has backed out of an wXw booking on short notice, the last time in December 2014.
wXW stated in their post that they will no longer book El Patron.
