Matt Jackson: All In will ‘probably be my biggest wrestling legacy’

The Young Bucks are proud of how far All In has come since they and Cody Rhodes promoted the first event in 2018.

For the first time since that inaugural show, All In returns stateside this Saturday. What started as a self-promoted event by The Elite has now become AEW’s biggest annual pay-per-view, twice being held at Wembley Stadium in London and now taking place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

All In has already solidified its place among the most historically important shows in wrestling history — and The Young Bucks know it will always be a key part of their legacy.

“From running that first event several years ago in Chicago, when getting 10,000 people into an arena sounded impossible, to seeing it grow into an annual stadium show, where this year we’ll have 20,000-plus fans in attendance, it really does blow my mind,” Matt Jackson told Uncrowned.

“I’m humbled to have had the pleasure to take part in this movement from the very beginning. To be able to say not only was I there, but I helped it all happen, that’ll probably be my biggest wrestling legacy. I get to perform on the show I helped create, in the company I am a founding father of, a company that has succeeded so much more than even I could have ever imagined, company that forever will be called Elite, long after I’m gone.”

Saturday’s event will see Matt and his brother Nick Jackson take on Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay in a tag team match. If The Young Bucks win, neither Strickland nor Ospreay can challenge for the AEW World Championship for the next year. But if Strickland & Ospreay win, The Young Bucks lose their on-screen titles as executive vice presidents.

The Young Bucks told Uncrowned that they have enjoyed working their EVP titles into their TV personas, with Nick saying that “people actually think we’re bad human beings because we play these characters pretty dang good.” Matt feels they still have a lot left to explore if they win on Saturday.

“It really has been incredibly fun leaning in on all the things people accuse us of being. I remember back in the beginning, arguing with someone that going public about having a major job title in the company is probably a bad idea if we want to be cheered ever again as wrestlers,” Matt said.

“So using it in this way all these years later has definitely made the most sense. It’s for sure helped us garner more heat, and given us a new tool to work with the last couple of years on screen. I think there’s so much left to explore too, shall we have that opportunity to do so.”

All In’s pre-show will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday with the main card then starting at 3 p.m. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Mone, and International Champion Kenny Omega vs. Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada are the three top matches set for the show.

Megan Bayne has guaranteed her slot in the women’s Casino Gauntlet at Saturday’s AEW All In as she’ll enter as the second competitor.

Bayne was part of a four-way qualifier on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite that included Queen Aminata, Thekla and Tay Melo, picking up the victory after hitting Aminata with a running power bomb.

Bayne joins former TBS Champion Kris Statlander as the first two in the match that will give the winner an anytime, anywhere AEW Women’s World title shot. The two squared off against each other twice this year in singles competition with Bayne going 2-0. Bayne and Penelope Ford also secured a win over Statlander and Thunder Rosa this year.

Tony Khan AEW media call: Creative control, Britt Baker, Unified title update

Image: JJ Williams

At the starting point of a busy week, AEW & Ring of Honor head Tony Khan spoke to the media for more than an hour Tuesday to help promote All In and ROH Supercard of Honor.

He also addressed some Internet rumors about Mercedes Mone’s creative control, the status of Britt Baker, and some required changes for Supercard of Honor due to injuries.

Here’s some of the key talking points with full audio at the bottom of this post.

Mercedes Mone’s AEW creative control (or lack thereof)

Khan was asked to address the narrative that the reason Mone is featured so much on AEW TV and wins so often is that she has creative control. Khan denied that, reiterating that he is the only one in AEW with creative control before retelling how he took control back heading into 2020 and again into 2025 which resulted in a better product.

Khan said he’s worked with Mone, Jen Pepperman, Toni Storm and RJ City on this angle, but he has the final say. He said the idea of anyone getting a push because they have “a creative control card” isn’t how it works in AEW. He puts Mone over as a great person to work with backstage and a great star.

“This is the most focused and best AEW in many, many years because there are less voices,” he said.

Where’s Britt Baker?

Khan was asked to address the recent reports Baker has requested her release so she can go to WWE. He said he’s never had a conversation about her leaving AEW and that he likes her a lot. He then launched into a sports analogy about only being able to use so many players as starters and how they have been running a tight, focused show with a focused crew. He said they have a lot of talent on their bench if they need it which applies to both men and women.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion hasn’t been on TV since last November with no storyline explanation.

Continental & International titles not being retired

Khan made it a point to say the AEW Continental and International titles are not being retired and that the new Unified Champion (decided this Saturday between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada) may carry around all three belts.

Khan said the Unified title is new to AEW, was made to represent the importance of this match, and that the lineage of both titles will be “intact.” He also verified the Continental Classic will be back, but didn’t mention what the winner will get.

Red Velvet, Jamie Hayter injured, new interim ROH Women’s TV title coming

Khan said that a number of injuries changed plans for this week’s Supercard of Honor with Queen Aminata being “called up” to replace Jamie Hayter whose latest injury has taken her out of action longer than expected. She said reigning ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet was injured during her CMLL match last month and while she is expected to push through it, she will be unable to defend the title and thus, a new interim champion will be crowned on Friday. No further details were provided.

MJF on WWE counter-programming AEW All In: ‘I think it’s a smart business practice’

MJF is certain that WWE’s counter-programming of AEW All In is deliberate — and he thinks it’s a good business practice.

AEW’s biggest show of the year takes place this Saturday with Globe Life Field hosting All In: Texas. It will face direct competition from NXT Great American Bash that afternoon, with the NXT PLE being one of three events WWE is holding in Atlanta this weekend along with Saturday Night’s Main Event and Evolution.

In an interview with TV Insider ahead of All In, MJF was asked about the WWE counter-programming strategy. He made clear that he believes the counter-programming is deliberate, but he doesn’t fault WWE for doing it.

“You mean shows that are running at the exact same time as us, even though they claim we’re not competition? How do I feel about it? I think it’s a smart business practice,” he said. “I give jolly old St. Nick [Khan] and Trips a whole lot of credit. At the end of the day, if you can stomp out your competition, you’re doing what is necessary. Lord knows I would. Everyone is judging them for it. I think that’s silly. Don’t judge them for it, but also, don’t be stupid. They’re not doing this by happenstance. This isn’t circumstantial. None of it is. The difference between me and everyone else is even though I know that, I’m not going to pretend that is not the truth or going to stand here and pretend that’s not an incredibly intelligent thing to do. I would stomp on anyone’s neck if it meant I would get ahead. I’ve done it a million times in my career. That’s my thoughts on that.”

MJF will be one of the participants in the men’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In, where the winner earns a future AEW World Championship match. Rivals MJF and Mark Briscoe are set to start off the gauntlet as the first two entrants.

While he never fully breaks character for interviews, MJF told TV Insider that everyone in the AEW locker room is on the same page right now and is giving 110 percent effort. He echoed similar comments that have been made by Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland, saying that he feels you truly need to be elite to be in AEW now.

“He has learned I’m his biggest star, which is why he pays me the big bucks,” MJF responded when asked what he thinks Tony Khan has learned from his past experiences in AEW. “He understands what I bring to the table more than ever. The other thing I would say Tony Khan has learned is you want people in your locker room that not only want to be there but are worthy of being there. We’ve had a lot of guys in the past come in and think they are going [to] be king sh*t just because they had their time in the sun for a millisecond in other promotions. That’s not [how] it f*ck’in works. It’s called All Elite Wrestling. Not All Average Wrestling. Not All Mediocre Wrestling. Not All…I’m going to show up, cash a check and expect to be world champion wrestling. It’s All Elite Wrestling.

“Right now, everyone in that locker room is on the same page. We aren’t coming there to cash a check. We aren’t coming to give 50 percent. We’re all giving 110 percent. If you think you’re going to come into my company, and yes I said my company because I’ve been here since day 1, and I’m the best professional wrestler in the world. If you think you’re going to come into my company and barely put in work, you’re out of your goddamn mind. You don’t belong here. We don’t want you here. So stay where you are and be miserable over there because you don’t belong swimming in the ocean of sharks that is AEW. And you’re talking to the biggest shark of them all in MJF.”

Jim Ross confirms he’ll be at AEW All In

Jim Ross is officially making the trip to Texas for AEW All In 2025.

On his Grilling JR podcast, the 73-year-old Ross confirmed that he’ll make his return to AEW at the Saturday, July 12 pay-per-view. Returning for All In was Ross’ goal after undergoing colon cancer surgery in May. That surgery was a success, and Ross is feeling “pretty damn good” now that his cancer is gone.

While in Texas, Ross will also be a guest at the Starrcast convention on the eve of the PPV.

“Oh, absolutely, absolutely,” Ross responded when asked if he’ll be at All In. “Yeah, I’ll be there. I want to fly in on Thursday and do our business on Friday. And then I’ll be at the pay-per-view on Saturday.”

Ross is back making convention appearances but will have to miss a scheduled booking at Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, Tennessee due to it taking place on the same weekend as All In.

There have been numerous health challenges Ross has had to face over the last few years, but he’s hoping that the worst is behind him now. The most difficult part of his colon cancer battle was the fear of whether things would work out or not.

“I think fear is the biggest enemy. I have good doctors here in Jacksonville, so that all worked out fine. So I’m just very blessed that I’ve got past the worst part,” Ross said. “So as we stand here now and you and I are talking to our fans and stuff, I’m very happy that I’m where I am health-wise. I’m lucky, very lucky. So — it’s all good, man. You just got to stay positive and move forward. And that’s what I’ve tried to do. Even though there were days where I was wondering if this was meant to be. But, obviously, it is meant to be. Here I am. Here we are. So let’s get on with it.”

In AEW, the legendary Ross’ role is to provide commentary for PPV events. He doesn’t know which matches he’ll be calling at All In, but he would like to be on commentary for Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega.

MJF wins second spot in men’s Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In

Image: AEW

MJF is officially number two after the events of AEW Dynamite.

The former AEW World Champion earned the second spot in the men’s Casino Gauntlet match at next Saturday’s AEW All In: Texas, guaranteeing him the opportunity to compete for a future World title shot.

MJF submitted AR Fox in a four-way that also included Anthony Bowens and Brody King.

He now will take on Mark Briscoe who earned the top spot on last week’s Dynamite after having a verbal confrontation with MJF. They two exchanged words again this week with Briscoe challenging MJF to an in-ring confrontation next week.

While Kris Statlander holds the top spot in the women’s gauntlet, a match for the second spot has yet to be announced.

Young Bucks vs. Strickland & Ospreay set for AEW All In with dual stipulations

Image: AEW

A high-profile tag team match is now official for AEW All In: Texas with dual stipulations for both the Young Bucks and Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay.

After Strickland and Ospreay issued a challenge last Wednesday for the Jackson brothers to put their executive vice president titles on the line, the two never gave an answer. On this week’s Dynamite, Strickland and Ospreay ran out after the Bucks’ match to demand an answer.

The Jacksons said they didn’t accept because Strickland and Ospreay weren’t putting anything on the line. Ospreay then took a few seconds and suggested their own stipulation: that if he and Strickland lost, neither man can challenge for the AEW World title for one year. Strickland didn’t initially care for that, but eventually agreed after the Bucks’ chiding of them.

Strickland earlier clarified that they would not be taking over as EVPs if they won as they want to give that honor back to the people.

Texas Death Match rules added to AEW All In World title bout

Next Saturday’s AEW World title match between champion Jon Moxley and Hangman Page at AEW All In: Texas will now be a bit more violent than expected.

Made on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, the Moxley vs. Page title bout will now be a Texas Death Match, a rematch from more than two years ago.

Page opened the show by issuing the challenge to Moxley after the events of last Wednesday when Page was choked out by a chain amid a Death Riders attack. This week, he said to bring on The Elite and Death Riders or give him death: a Texas Death Match. Moxley came out and initially turned him down, challenging Page’s manhood and saying he was going to lose because he didn’t want to win.

Moxley said Page wouldn’t survive it and it wouldn’t be something he’d walk away from. The two then began to brawl before Page pulled out a fork. Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir and Claudio Castagnoli then attacked Page and left him laying. Page called out Castagnoli as a b*tch afterward for the attack and The Opps backed Page up as the Death Riders slinked away.

Shafir attempted to hit Page with a briefcase, but Page grabbed the case instead and told Moxley to give him the match as he had something he wanted. A fired up Moxley then agreed, followed by Page hitting the Buckshot lariat on Shafir as payback.

Among their extensive rivalry was a Texas Death Match at March 2023’s Revolution that Page won (seen above). Page is 4-1 all-time in his speciality match while Moxley is 1-2.

Tony Khan reveals why AEW All In 2025 isn’t being held at Wembley Stadium

We now know the reason why AEW didn’t go to Wembley this year.

On the Rich Eisen Show, Tony Khan explained that the reason for moving AEW’s All In event from Wembley Stadium to Globe Life Field in Texas was due to the band Coldplay holding a concert on the weekend they wanted.

“And it’s going back to Wembley next year, by the way,” he said. “Coldplay had booked this weekend out years in advance…we put 81,000 fans in Wembley for AEW All In and I can’t wait to go back and do it again.”

AEW previously announced that All In would be returning to Wembley Stadium in 2026 without giving a specific date.

After obtaining the rights back to the All In name following the purchase of Ring of Honor, Tony Khan brought back the event in 2023, drawing 81,000 fans at Wembley with Adam Cole vs. MJF headlining. They returned the following year with Swerve Strickland losing the AEW World title to Bryan Danielson in a title vs. career match.

Already announced for this year’s All Out is Toni Storm defending the AEW Women’s Championship against Mercedes Mone and Jon Moxley defending the AEW World title against Hangman Page.
