Mustafa Ali to defend TNA International title against mystery opponent

New title match announced for TNA International champion Mustafa Ali.

While Mustafa Ali is scheduled to defend his TNA International title on the April 30 episode of TNA Impact against Adam Brooks, he has now also been announced for another title match.

On social media, it was announced that Ali will defend his TNA International title against a mystery opponent at the May 15th TNA Impact taping in Sacramento, California. Ali also claimed that the person who accepted the challenge currently holds a major championship outside of TNA.

“I have received word that a mystery opponent has answered the International Open Challenge. He himself holds a major championship outside of TNA. Who is he?” he wrote on social media.

As of now, there are no confirmations regarding Ali’s mystery opponent for the TNA International title.

After winning the TNA International Title at TNA Rebellion, Mustafa Ali instituted an open challenge to all independent wrestlers.

BVV: Super fun episodes of TNA Impact, AAA

If you like fun wrestling shows with great matches, then I have two primo suggestions for you!

We’ll start with TNA Impact, which opens with an exciting contest between Nic Nemeth and Bear Bronson, then closes with an excellent Mike Santana title defense against Rich Swann.

Mind you, it’s still TNA, so there’s also a downside—Matt Hardy looking completely immobile against Dutch and an insufferable promo segment with Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside. But what can you do?

Then it’s off to Mexico City for AAA, my favorite show every week. We get Money Machine vs. La Parka & Rey Fenix; Laredo Kid vs. Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. in a blast of total insanity; and a main event tag match that pits El Grande Americano & Texano Jr. vs. El Masias & Mecha Wolf, setting up a tremendous postmatch angle.

Come join the fun on the Big Vinny V Show!

Motor City Machine Guns expected to sign with AEW following WWE exit

The Motor City Machine Guns were released by WWE last Friday. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin confirmed their exit via social media while promoting their band’s new EP.

According to Fightful Select, sources at Shelley and Sabin’s former promotion, TNA, are open to the tag team’s possible comeback. However, they expect Motor City Machine Guns to eventually sign with AEW. There is no confirmation on whether any deal has been made yet.

Shelley and Sabin were largely associated with TNA from 2007 until 2012 and then brief stints from 2022 onwards. The duo signed with WWE in September 2024 and a month later won the Tag Team Titles on SmackDown.

Between their TNA return and wrestling on independent promotions nearly four years ago, Motor City Machine Guns also debuted in AEW. They participated in the six-man tag team match, partnering with Jay Lethal against FTR and Wardlow at All Out 2022.

May 14, 2007 Observer Newsletter: The curse of the WWE SmackDown World title, TNA vs. ROH conflict

Nearly 19 years later, the entire 2007 run of the Wrestling Observer Newsletters is complete with the May 14, 2007 issue.

And given the past month, it’s an interesting one for sure.

Dave Meltzer did a deep dive into what he called the “cursed” WWE SmackDown title due to injuries to Undertaker and Mr. Kennedy that threw everything into a bit of chaos which didn’t just start with them.

He also discussed the start of a bit of a war/conflict between TNA and ROH after the latter announced a bi-monthly taped PPV deal that TNA didn’t like one bit. Given TNA’s last month+ of news, this seemed oddly timely.

Dave also has more information on 2006 WWE financials, the financial success of WrestleMania 2007 (spoiler: it wasn’t as big as this year’s but it makes for a good read of how things used to be), plus news and reviews from around the wrestling and MMA world.

One more missing 2008 issue will be uploaded over the next two weeks, but 2007 is now complete as is every year from 1991 to current.

Carlos Silva reimbursed WrestleCon for Leon Slater’s flight and hotel

Booked to face Ricochet at WrestleCon on April 16, 2026, in Las Vegas during WWE WrestleMania week, Leon Slater was pulled from the match just days before the scheduled date.

Not only Slater, but also multiple other TNA wrestlers booked to face AEW talent were pulled from recent events by the TNA President. Carlos Silva soon received major backlash for it, but WrestleCon has now come forward and revealed that Silva reimbursed them for Slater’s expenses.

He took a beating the last few weeks, so I want to give [Carlos Silva] his props today. A week ago, he called me personally to explain his reasoning for pulling the match. He then asked if there was anything he could do to make up for it. I simply asked that he reimburse me for Leon’s flights/hotel since he was no longer wrestling for us. Today, I was reimbursed for the flight/hotel as promised. Thank you Carlos,” it said.

The WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow on April 16 was previously supposed to be headlined by Ricochet and Slater. However, after things got scrapped, The Demand vs. Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, & Michael Oku main-evented the show.

TNA’s Steve Maclin cleared from injury for in-ring return

Around a month ago, at TNA Sacrifice, Steve Maclin got knocked out within minutes of his World title match. Now recovered, Maclin is ready for his in-ring comeback.

Despite fearing a concussion, Maclin was later provided a positive update on it and was not diagnosed with a concussion. Almost a month later, he has now been cleared for his comeback.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Maclin shared an update on his social media announcing his clearance. ‘”AIN’T FOUND A WAY TO KILL ME YET.’ Cleared & ready to get back to work,” Maclin wrote.

The injury took place at TNA Sacrifice during his World Championship match against Mike Santana. Maclin was caught with a superkick from Santana that knocked him out.

Shortly after, he had trouble standing up while being tended to by officials. As an improvisation, Eddie Edwards ran out to brawl with Santana, and the match was thrown out. TNA referee Alice Lane was also heavily praised after the match for her quick action in recognizing Maclin’s injury.

Hulk Hogan was taking ‘deadly’ amount of fentanyl while with TNA

While he was with TNA Wrestling, Hulk Hogan was using a dangerous amount of fentanyl to deal with all of the pain his body was in.

Netflix’s new “Hulk Hogan: Real American” docuseries premiered today with all four episodes now available to stream. In the final part, Hogan, in one of his final interviews, opens up about the difficult time he went through after getting divorced from his first wife Linda. Joining TNA helped save Hogan financially, but his body was in tremendous pain whenever he had to get physically involved in the ring.

Hogan said there were times where — after so many hip, knee, and back surgeries — he had to sleep in a chair because the bed was too painful. At other points, Eric Bischoff had to help Hogan get out of bed and get ready.

“I was taking 80-milligram fentanyls, two in the morning, stuffing them under my gums,” Hogan said. “I had two 300-milligram patches of fentanyl on my legs. And they gave me six 1500-mg fentanyl lollipops to eat. And I went to the pharmacy, he goes, ‘You should be dead. We have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl.'”

Hogan was with TNA from 2009-2013 and had the final match of his career there in 2012. He passed away at 71 years old in July 2025, with his death coming after several weeks of complications following another surgery.

Brooke Hogan regrets being cut from Hulk Hogan’s will

Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, feels that while walking away from his will felt right at that point in time, she regrets doing it now.

Last year, in 2025, the Hall of Famer passed away in his home in Florida. An integral part of the pro-wrestling and entertainment industry, Hogan’s passing away became worldwide news. Soon after, his daughter Brooke Hogan also opened up and shared her statements on his death.

Months after Hogan’s passing away, she recently appeared on the Hollywood Raw Podcast with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn, where she opened up about removing herself from Hogan’s will. Justifying the action, Hogan claimed that she did it fearing for her safety and not because she did not want the money.

There were situations that had me so scared,” she said. “I really took myself off the will because I was actually scared for myself, my family, my safety.”

There’s not enough money in the world that would matter with what I felt I was facing,” she said. “I regret that decision,” she added. “Not because of the money — I’ve never been about the money — but because now I don’t have a seat at the table.”

Hogan passed away at the age of 71 in his Florida home after suffering a cardiac arrest. WWE recently honored his legacy by unveiling a new bronze Hogan statue, while Netflix is also set to release a documentary celebrating his life and career.

TNA’s Trey Miguel to miss events due to laceration injury

TNA’s Trey Miguel suffers an injury and is sidelined from in-ring action.

At TNA Wrestling’s Rebellion PPV, Miguel defended and lost the TNA International Championship against Mustafa Ali.

Ali emerged victorious in the match and ended Miguel’s title run at 57-days. Midway through the match, fans witnessed Miguel perform a Meteora on Ali onto the steel ring steps. Landing and bouncing brutally off the steps, Miguel suffered a deep laceration on his knees.

He later shared an image of the injury as well as a photo of him with a crutch. During the recent April 16 episode of TNA Impact, it was announced that Miguel has now been pulled from TNA events due to the injury.

There are currently no confirmed updates on Miguel’s in-ring return, although he is scheduled to be at WrestleCon in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the WWE WrestleMania week.

Miguel, earlier this year, joined AEW as a part of The Rascalz. However, he was soon let go from the promotion and made his way back to TNA.

ODB has pushed for one WWE or NXT appearance before retiring

ODB has been lobbying for one WWE or NXT appearance through TNA’s ongoing partnership with the promotion.

Speaking on SoCal Val’s The Velvet Ropes on WrestlingNews.co, TNA veteran ODB opened up about asking for at least one WWE appearance, while also noting that she was one of the wrestlers who spent their entire career in TNA.

It would be cool. And that’s something I’ve brought up, and I’m gonna keep bringing it up. Hey, just one appearance or something. Even if it’s NXT or just something. I mean, come on.”

Despite her brief appearances for multiple promotions, including AEW, ROH, and others, ODB remained a loyal part of TNA’s roster throughout her career.

I’m pretty much probably one of the only wrestlers that’s only been in TNA. You don’t really hear that a lot. A lot of people did TNA, then did WWE, or WWE then TNA, and AEW. And I’ve just been a TNA Knockout. I’ve never been anywhere else,” she said.

A wrestling veteran for over two decades, she recently returned to TNA, which is now being described as her final run.
