DragonKingKarl: WCW in 1992 was a real mess

Today my classic wrestling podcast takes a detailed look back at September 1992 through the pages of Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WCW was having an identity crisis. The pro wrestling world was crumbling down. The WWF (WWE) was plagued with multiple scandals and business was down around the globe. Bill Watts was running WCW and had taken it backward instead of forward. He instituted weird, outdated rules and even tried to elevate the now irrelevant NWA back to some sort of stature. It was an effort in futility as Bill Watts would soon be removed due to inflammatory comments which would be brought to light by a baseball legend.

BVV: TNA Impact recap with Nemeths vs. Hardys tag title match

Tuesday means a new Big Vinny V Show and another TNA Impact recap.

The main event last Thursday saw Nic & Ryan Nemeth getting their TNA Tag Team title rematch against the Hardy Boys with Matt Cardona making a cameo appearance.

Elsewhere, Brian Myers battled Mustafa Ali as things heated up between The System and Order 4; Judas Icarus stealing the show in a very fun match against Eric Young; Victoria Crawford continuing to be crazy; the IInspiration teaming with Masha Slamovich against the By Elegance brand; Frankie Kazarian hosting the King’s Speech with the return of Mr. Anderson; Dani Luna squaring off against Indi Hartwell; Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside formally annoucing their tag team name; and Mike Santana destroying a jobber but then gets destroyed by an invader from NXT.

WOL: How WWE & AEW each did a disservice to their World champs Saturday

On an extended play edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Josh Nason returns to discuss the best and the not-so-best from Saturday’s AEW All Out and WWE Wrestlepalooza.

Josh talks about his biggest takeaway: that both AEW and WWE each did a disservice to their men’s World Champions with the placement of their matches.

He also hits on how Tony Khan mentioning the term “family-friendly” in the lead-up backfired a bit after All Out and whether it honestly really matters.

Josh talks about the various stories and headlines from each show, one that had a lot of news while the other was relatively devoid of it. From fans not liking how John Cena lost to a new AEW Women’s World Champion to several AEW names returning, it’s all here.
