Berto advances in WWE Speed tournament

On WWE Speed today, a new number one contender’s tournament kicked off with a member of Legado del Fantasma taking on one half of Pretty Deadly.

Berto (Humberto Carrillo) defeated Kit Wilson, using a sit-out powerbomb to get the victory with 48 seconds remaining of the three-minute time limit. In the next round, it will be Berto vs. either Noam Dar or Lexis King. The winner earns a title shot against WWE Speed Men’s Champion El Grande Americano.

The first round match between NXT wrestlers Dar and King will air on Speed this Friday (June 6). Joaquin Wilde was originally supposed to be King’s opponent, but he suffered an injury while the match was being taped earlier this week. Wilde got knocked out cold but said he’s doing good. Despite that, he’s been pulled from the card for this Saturday’s WWE-AAA Worlds Collide event.

El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) won the Speed title from Dragon Lee last month and will be making his first title defense against the winner of this tournament. An Americano vs. Berto title match would continue the story of Gable feuding with the luchadors of WWE.

After defeating Wilson, Berto cut a promo saying he’s coming after Americano’s title and his mask.

Joaquin Wilde says he’s ‘good’ after being knocked out during WWE Speed match

Joaquin Wilde is “good” after being knocked out during a match.

The LWO member was wrestling Lexis King in a WWE Speed match that was taped right before Raw went on the air. Fan footage showed Wilde being checked on by WWE’s medical staff as the match came to a stop.

Wilde later posted an update on his condition on social media.

“Never been knocked out cold before. So alot to process right now. But im good no worries,” he wrote.

Wilde and tag team partner Cruz Del Toro have only been used sparingly on main roster programing, with both of their last appearances being part of the Andre the Giant battle royal back in April. Another LWO member, Rey Mysterio, is out of action after suffering a groin injury on the same show.

Del Toro and Wilde are currently scheduled to team with fellow member Dragon Lee to face Octagon Jr., Aero Star, and Mr. Iguana at Worlds Collide this Saturday.

Sol Ruca retains WWE Speed Women’s title in first defense

Sol Ruca is still WWE Speed Women’s Champion after prevailing in her first title defense.

A title match aired on WWE Speed this week with Ruca putting her belt on the line against Ivy Nile. With just seven seconds left of the five-minute time limit, Ruca was able to score the pin to remain champion. The advantage was on Nile’s side in the closing stretch after a powerbomb and swinging uranage, but Ruca rolled to the floor. Back in the ring, she avoided a charge in the corner and connected with a Sol Snatcher for the victory.

Ruca is the second-ever WWE Speed Women’s Champion, winning the belt from inaugural champ Candice LeRae this April. Ruca also successfully defended a different belt over the weekend at NXT Battleground, where she defeated Kelani Jordan to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

The Ruca vs. Nile Speed match was taped at SmackDown last Friday.

Next Wednesday on Speed, the men’s division is back in action with the start of a new number one contender’s tournament. The winner earns the first shot at new WWE Speed Men’s Champion El Grande Americano. Here are the first-round matchups:

  • Kit Wilson vs. Berto
  • Joaquin Wilde vs. Lexis King

WWE crowns number one contender to Speed Women’s Championship

Ivy Nile is first up to challenge Sol Ruca for the WWE Speed Women’s Championship.

A number one contender’s tournament wrapped up on Speed this week with Nile defeating Kelani Jordan in the finals. With her victory, Nile will challenge Ruca for the WWE Speed Women’s Championship on the episode of the show that premieres next Wednesday (May 28). It will be Ruca’s first title defense since winning the belt from Candice LeRae.

Nile scored the pinfall on Jordan with just seven seconds of the three-minute time limit remaining. Near the end of the match, Jordan was going for her One of a Kind moonsault before getting caught with a bridging German suplex by Nile. Jordan kicked out of that, but a kick to the head and a swinging uranage earned Nile the win.

Nile defeated Maxxine Dupri in the first round of the tournament before defeating Jordan. If Nile is able to dethrone Ruca, she’ll become the third-ever WWE Speed Women’s Champion in history.

While Jordan isn’t getting a shot at the Speed title, she will be challenging Ruca for a different championship this weekend. Ruca vs. Jordan for the NXT Women’s North American Championship is set for Sunday’s NXT Battleground PLE.

Ivy Nile advances in WWE Speed tournament

With less than a second to spare, Ivy Nile defeated Maxxine Dupri to advance to the next round of the current WWE Speed number one contender’s tournament.

The two faced off in a first-round matchup that premiered on Speed today. Dupri started fast but lost control of the match when Nile caught a kick and dropped her with a clothesline. Nile then threw Dupri into the barricade outside and suplexed her onto the floor. She kept the advantage until a back-and-forth in the closing stretch. Dupri hit a superplex, did The Worm into an elbow drop, and then hit a crossbody — but Nile rolled through and secured the pinfall just before the three-minute time limit expired.

The match was taped before Raw in Louisville, Kentucky this Monday and can be watched below:

Nile will now face Kelani Jordan on Speed next Wednesday (May 21) with the winner earning a title shot against new WWE Speed Women’s Champion Sol Ruca. Jordan defeated Wren Sinclair in the first round.

Ruca won the title from Candice LeRae last month, becoming the second-ever WWE Speed Women’s Champion. She also currently holds the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

Kelani Jordan wins WWE Speed debut

Two NXT wrestlers clashed on WWE Speed today as a new number one contender’s tournament began.

Kelani Jordan and Wren Sinclair made their Speed debuts by facing off against each other, and it was Jordan who advanced to the next round. With the three-minute time limit on Speed, both competitors wrestled with urgency. Jordan wiped out Sinclair with a moonsault to the outside within the first minute. As the match neared its end, Sinclair got a two count with a double underhook butterfly suplex. She then position Jordan on the top rope, but Jordan punched Sinclair to the mat and connected with a 450 splash for the victory.

The Jordan vs. Sinclair match was taped at SmackDown last Friday and can be watched below:

Next Wednesday (May 14) on Speed, the number one contender’s tournament continues with Maxxine Dupri vs. Ivy Nile. The winner of that match will then face Jordan to determine who gets the first shot at new WWE Speed Women’s Champion Sol Ruca.

Ruca is the second-ever WWE Speed Women’s Champion, winning the title last month from inaugural champ Candice LeRae. Ruca also currently holds the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

El Grande Americano defeats Dragon Lee for WWE Speed title

El Grande Americano — the loosely disguised alter ego of Chad Gable — now holds WWE gold.

Americano is the new WWE Speed Champion after defeating Dragon Lee for the belt. The title change was taped at Raw earlier this week and aired on Speed today. Lee had the advantage until he tried to rip off Americano’s mask. When the referee stopped Lee, that gave Americano an opportunity to load his mask up with a weapon. Lee kicked Americano in the face but hurt his own leg against the loaded mask. Americano then connected with a diving headbutt off the top rope for the victory.

With the victory, Americano becomes the fourth men’s WWE Speed Champion in history. Ricochet, Andrade, and Dragon Lee are the prior champs.

Gable adopted this gimmick as part of his quest to conquer lucha libre following a loss to Penta. The Americano character is a self-proclaimed lucha libre legend who supposedly has a rich history of success in Mexico.

WWE Speed shifts its focus back to the women’s division this Friday as the tournament to crown a new number one contender begins. The tournament winner will get the first shot at new WWE Speed Women’s Champion Sol Ruca.

Here are the first-round matchups:

  • Kelani Jordan vs. Wren Sinclair
  • Maxxine Dupri vs. Ivy Nile

El Grande Americano to challenge for WWE Speed title

Chad Gable is getting another shot at the WWE Speed Championship — but this time he’ll be challenging for the belt as El Grande Americano.

Americano was confirmed as Dragon Lee’s next challenger by picking up a victory over Alex Shelley on this week’s WWE Speed episode. A loaded face mask helped Americano win the number one contender’s tournament final. With 39 seconds remaining of the three-minute time limit, Americano secured the three count with a diving headbutt to Shelley.

The Dragon Lee vs. Americano title match will air on Speed next Wednesday (May 7), premiering on X/Twitter at noon Eastern time. It’s the second time that Gable has challenged Lee for the belt. Their first match was broadcast in February with Lee retaining.

Following reigns by Ricochet and Andrade, Lee became WWE Speed Champion in November 2024 and has made two successful title defenses with wins over Gable and Ivar.

WWE introduced the El Grande Americano character — a supposed “legendary luchador” — as part of a storyline where Gable is looking to conquer lucha libre after losing to Penta. Americano is coming off a victory against Rey Fenix at WrestleMania 41.

El Grande Americano advances in WWE Speed tournament

El Grande Americano — the supposed lucha legend played by Chad Gable — is advancing to the next round of WWE Speed’s number one contender’s tournament.

The masked Americano defeated Erik in a first-round match on WWE Speed this week, getting the victory with a diving headbutt with 42 seconds remaining on the three-minute clock. The match was taped at WWE Raw in Sacramento on April 14 before premiering today.

It will be Americano vs. Alex Shelley in the next round of the tournament (airing April 30 on X/Twitter) with the winner earning a WWE Speed Championship shot against Dragon Lee, who won the title in November 2024 and has made two successful defenses during his reign. One of those defenses was against Gable.

WWE introduced the Americano character in a storyline where Gable is looking to conquer lucha libre following a loss to Penta. His first match under the Americano mask was a win against Lee this March.

Americano is coming off a victory against Rey Fenix at WrestleMania 41. Rey Mysterio was originally supposed to be his opponent, but Mysterio suffered a torn groin on the SmackDown before WrestleMania and could not compete. To defeat Fenix, Americano used a loaded mask as a weapon.

Sol Ruca wins WWE Speed Women’s title

NXT wrestler Sol Ruca is the new WWE Speed Women’s Champion.

Kicking off the first title reign of her pro wrestling career, Ruca defeated Candice LeRae on WWE Speed today to win the show’s Women’s Championship. The title change was taped at SmackDown in Seattle last Friday.

LeRae, the inaugural WWE Speed Women’s Champion, made two other defenses in her reign before dropping the title to Ruca. Those previous defenses against Natalya and Zoey Stark ended with LeRae retaining in five-minute draws. She attempted to get herself disqualified against Ruca, but the referee took the Speed title belt away from LeRae before she could use it as a weapon.

Ruca went on to hit the Sol Snatcher to win the championship with one minute remaining on the clock.

This Saturday, Ruca could become a double champion at NXT Stand & Deliver. She’s one of the participants in a ladder match for the vacant NXT Women’s North American Championship at the WrestleMania weekend event. It will be Ruca vs. Zaria vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Izzi Dame vs. Lola Vice vs. Thea Hail.

A number one contender’s tournament for the Men’s WWE Speed Championship begins with Alex Shelley vs. Wes Lee airing on X/Twitter at noon Eastern this Friday. Shelley vs. Lee and Erik vs. El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) are the first-round matchups in the tournament to decide Dragon Lee’s next challenger.

WWE Speed spoilers from Seattle

A championship match was filmed for WWE Speed at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on Friday night.

Sol Ruca is the new WWE Speed Women’s Champion after defeating Candice LeRae for the title. The 25-year-old earned her shot at the belt by defeating Katana Chance and Michin in recent weeks.

LeRae became the inaugural WWE Women’s Speed Champion last October by defeating IYO SKY in the finals of a tournament. She retained the title twice via time-limit draw prior to her loss to Ruca, going to a draw with Natalya on the January 10 taping in Phoenix, Arizona, and another with Zoey Stark on the February 21 taping in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The win over LeRae was Ruca’s second big victory of the week. She also defeated Jazmyn Nyx on NXT to qualify for the NXT Women’s North American title ladder match at Stand & Deliver.

NXT star to challenge for WWE Speed Women’s Championship

An NXT star is next in line for a shot at the WWE Speed Women’s Championship.

Sol Ruca became the number one contender to Candice LeRae’s title with a victory over Michin on this week’s WWE Speed episode. With less than 30 seconds of the three-minute time limit remaining, Ruca connected with the Sol Snatcher to defeat Michin.

Following her victory over Katana Chance in the first round, this was Ruca’s second straight win over a main roster wrestler in the Speed number one contender’s tournament. Ruca will get her title shot against LeRae on the episode of Speed that premieres on X/Twitter at noon Eastern time next Wednesday (April 16).

LeRae became the inaugural Speed Women’s Champion in October 2024 and has only made two defenses during her reign so far, escaping with the belt by going to time-limit draws against both Natalya and Zoey Stark. Title matches on Speed have a five-minute time limit.

The athletic Ruca joined the WWE Performance Center in 2022 after competing in acrobatics and tumbling as a college athlete. In addition to challenging for the Speed Championship next week, Ruca has a title match set for NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend. She’ll be one of the participants in the ladder match for the vacant Women’s North American Championship at the Saturday, April 19 event.

Michin advances in WWE Speed contender’s tournament

Michin is now one victory away from a WWE Speed Women’s Championship shot.

On today’s WWE Speed episode, Michin and Shayna Baszler met in the first round of a number one contender’s tournament. Most of the match had Baszler in control as she targeted Michin’s leg, but Michin was able to turn the tide and get a win from out of nowhere. She sent Baszler face-first into the middle turnbuckle and then rolled her up for a three count with 48 seconds left on the three-minute clock.

Up next for Michin is a tournament match against NXT’s Sol Ruca on Speed next Wednesday (April 9). The winner earns a title shot against WWE Speed Women’s Champion Candice LeRae.

Ruca advanced with a victory over Katana Chance in the first round of the tournament.

LeRae became the inaugural Speed Women’s Champion in October 2024. So far, the story of her title reign has been remaining champion by going to time-limit draws in both of her defenses. Those defenses were against Natalya and Zoey Stark.

Sol Ruca defeats Katana Chance in WWE Speed tournament

An athletic matchup took place on WWE Speed this week with Katana Chance battling Sol Ruca.

NXT’s Ruca got the victory over her main roster counterpart, pinning Chance with 29 seconds remaining on the three-minute clock. They traded pinfall attempts in the closing stretch of the match until Ruca was able to catch Chance with the Sol Snatcher.

This was the first match in a four-person tournament to determine the next challenger for WWE Speed Women’s Champion Candice LeRae. The tournament continues next Wednesday (April 2) with Michin vs. Shayna Baszler to decide Ruca’s opponent in the finals.

LeRae became the inaugural WWE Speed Women’s Champion in October 2024. The story of her title reign has been using the short time limits on WWE Speed to her advantage, going to draws with both Natalya and Zoey Stark.

In a post-match promo after defeating Chance, Ruca — who signed with WWE in 2022 — said she’s “absolutely stoked on life” following this main roster win. She’s a rising star in NXT and has a background as a college athlete in acrobatics and tumbling.
