The end of Saturday’s Deadline PLE had Je’Von Evans celebrating his Iron Survivor Challenge win when new NXT Champion Oba Femi came out. The two were having a staredown when suddenly the lights went out. After a video aired of an unidentifiable man walking near a bridge, a spotlight came on. Evans turned around and D’Angelo was seen. Evans extended his hand but instead was met with a chokeslam. D’Angelo dumped what appeared to be black material on Evans as the show ended with D’Angelo staring down Femi.
D’Angelo was last seen in July after defeating former associates Luca Crusifino and Stacks in a three-way match. A vignette aired of him at his restaurant when suddenly someone appeared in front of him. The screen then blacked out, similar to the infamous series finale of The Sopranos. In October, it was reported that D’Angelo had requested time off, and was seen at the WWE Performance Center last month.
Teases for D’Angelo’s return started on Tuesday when Ava was given a box by Robert Stone. When she dumped the contents on her desk, it was the same black material that D’Angelo dumped on Evans at the end of Deadline.
Je’Von Evans is getting another shot at the NXT Championship.
At NXT Deadline, Evans managed to score the deciding pinfall in order to advance to New Year’s Evil on January 6, where he’ll face new champion Oba Femi. In the final minute of the match, Dion Lennox managed to trap Evans inside the penalty box. However, Evans made to the top and launched off, wiping out the DarkState member. Back in the ring, a flurry of offense ensued until Evans came out on top, cradling Miles Borne for the decisive fall.
As Evans celebrated, Oba Femi came out as the two had a staredown. However the lights suddenly went out and a video aired of a man walking down a street. When the lights came back on, Tony D’Angelo appeared. Evans offered his hand but D’Angelo instead chose to lay him out, ending the show with D’Angelo staring down Femi.
Evans previously challenged for the NXT Championship back at Heatwave earlier this summer. Despite a strong showing, Evans was unable to beat Femi for the title.
NXT New Year’s Evil (January 6)
NXT Championship: Oba Femi defends against Je’Von Evans
NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne defends against Kendal Grey
The EVOLVE Women’s Champion scored the shock win at Saturday’s Deadline, moving on to face Jacy Jayne on January 6. The finish of the match had everyone in a five-way tie in the final minute. Sol Ruca hit the sol snatcher on Lola Vice outside of the ring, but was attacked by Kelani Jordan as she left the penalty box and hit a 450 splash. Jordynne Grace broke up the pin as she and Jordan brawled out of the ring. As Vice recovered, Grey launched off the top rope and hit the shades of Grey for the pinfall, putting her in the lead with three pins right at the 25 minute mark.
As Grey and Wren Sinclair celebrated, Jayne and the rest of Fatal Influence appeared on the rampway, having a staredown with the Iron Survivor Challenge winner.
After Charlie Dempsey left for Japan, he left Wren Sinclair on her own, who decided to form a friendship with EVOLVE Champion Kendal Grey. In the weeks since then, Grey has scored wins on NXT television including successfully defending the EVOLVE title against Laney Reid during the NXT Gold Rush last month.

WWE NXT has finalized the card for Saturday’s Deadline PLE in San Antonio adding two new matches, and making several other key announcements.
In new bouts added, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page will put his title on the line against Mr. Iguana from AAA. Iguana stole Page’s car from the NXT parking lot on Thursday’s show to set up the grudge match.
Also newly added, Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame will go one-on-one at Deadline. Dame cost Paxley the NXT Women’s Championship by turning against her at NXT Gold Rush last month to lay the groundwork for the bout.
It was also announced during Tuesday’s NXT TV go-home show for Deadline that the men’s NXT Championship match with Ricky Saints defending against Oba Femi will open the PLE.
Finally, by virtue of his pinfall victory in the eight-man tag main event on Tuesday’s show, Myles Borne gets to choose his entry position in the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge bout at Deadline to crown a new number one contender to the NXT title.
WWE NXT Deadline, Saturday, December 6 —
Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Myles Borne vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox vs. Leon Slater
Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Kendal Grey vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Sol Ruca vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice

The field for this year’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches are now set.
On NXT Tuesday, John Cena announced five participants for both the men’s and women’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches that will take place at Deadline on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas. For the men, Cena chose Je’Von Evans, TNA’s Leon Slater, Joe Hendry, DarkState’s Dion Lennox, and Myles Borne, who defeated Trick Williams in the main event of Tuesday’s show to earn the final spot in the men’s match.
For the women, Cena announced that Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan, Jordynne Grace, and EVOLVE Women’s Champion Kendal Grey would be in the match.
The winners of both matches will move on to New Year’s Evil, where they will challenge the NXT Champion and NXT Women’s Champion respectively. Last year’s winners, Oba Femi and Giulia, both went won to win their respective championships.
NXT Deadline (December 6):
NXT Championship: Ricky Saints defends against Oba Femi
Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Je’Von Evans vs. Leon Slater vs. Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox vs. Myles Borne
Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge: participants Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Kendal Grey
A match for the NXT Championship is now set for Deadline.
Oba Femi will challenge Ricky Saints for the NXT Championship on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas. As Saints was set to deliver a promo on Tuesday, Femi immediately cut him off and the two had a war of words, with Femi saying he took time off to go to the motherland and become the version of himself that will beat Saints at Deadline. The two agreed to the title match for next month.
Suddenly, Trick Williams arrived and said he wasn’t done with Saints and wouldn’t be until he is NXT Champion once again. However, he was then jumped from behind by Myles Borne, retaliation for Williams’ attack the week prior. Borne told the two that he would win the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge and see them at New Year’s Evil.
Femi had been NXT Champion for most of the year, winning it at New Year’s Evil. However, Saints ended his nine-month reign at No Mercy. After Saints stood tall over Williams in their Last Man Standing match on last week’s NXT, Femi returned, making it clear he was aiming for the title once again.

The final NXT PLE of the year has a date and location.
As previously reported earlier in the week by Fightful Select, NXT confirmed on Saturday during their Halloween Havoc PLE that Deadline will take place at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas on December 6. Along with the announcement, it was confirmed that the men’s and women’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches will return. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday.
Deadline has been NXT’s final PLE dating back to 2022. The winners of the men’s and women’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches usually go on to challenge the champion of their choosing, usually at New Year’s Evil the following month. Oba Femi won the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at last year’s PLE, winning the NXT Championship soon after.
Last year’s women’s winner was Giulia, overcoming the likes of Sol Ruca, Stephanie Vaquer, Zaria, and Wren Sinclair. Giulia would go on to win the NXT Women’s Championship and is now on the main roster as the WWE Women’s United States Champion.
