Oba Femi vs. Leon Slater for the NXT Championship

The main event picture is all about Oba Femi’s dominance meeting Leon Slater’s explosiveness. WWE has positioned Slater as a legitimate threat by having him earn the opportunity as the number one contender.

Jacy Jayne vs. Kendal Grey for the NXT Women’s Championship

Jacy Jayne’s title defense against Kendal Grey brings a fascinating dynamic: Grey enters as the Evolve Women’s Champion while chasing the top prize in NXT’s women’s division. WWE has been spotlighting the rivalry in the weeks leading into the special, making this feel like a true “arrival moment” for Grey if she can translate momentum into a title change.

Thea Hail vs. Blake Monroe for the NXT Women’s North American Championship

Thea Hail and Blake Monroe have been locked into a heated championship story, and the title will be on the line again at New Years Evil. If Hail survives the rematch, it is a strong early signal that NXT is ready to build around her as a cornerstone champion going into 2026.

Tatum Paxley vs. Izzi Dame

Not every New Years Evil match needs a title to feel important. Tatum Paxley vs. Izzi Dame is being framed as a grudge match, with recent TV angles sharpening the personal stakes.

What channel is NXT New Years Evil 2026 on?

In the US, the answer is simple: The CW.

The CW is a broadcast network, so in many areas you can watch with a basic over the air antenna, or through cable and satellite TV packages that carry your local CW station. WWE’s long term deal makes The CW the official broadcast home for weekly NXT.

If you are unsure where The CW is in your area, use the channel guide in your TV provider or your local listings, because CW station numbers vary by market.

To watch live, your best options are:

  • Watch on The CW on television at 8:00 PM ET, Tuesday, January 6

Is NXT New Years Evil 2026 on Netflix or Peacock?

Women’s North American title rematch set for WWE NXT New Year’s Evil

A match for the Women’s North American title is set for the first NXT of 2026.

During Tuesday’s taped show, Thea Hail came out and celebrated her championship victory that took place one week ago. The disheveled former champion Blake Monroe interrupted and claimed Hail’s win was a fluke and mistake, demanding her title back. Hail refused but granted Monroe a rematch at New Year’s Evil. Monroe laid out Hail with a cheap shot in response and both women brawled around the ring until officials broke it up.

Hail inadvertently won the title last week during the final live edition of NXT of 2025. She went for a springboard senton and followed with a cover, but Monroe did not kick out before three as expected. After some initial confusion, NXT went ahead with the unplanned title change and awarded the match to Hail, who celebrated with the title.

Here is the updated lineup for New Year’s Evil:

NXT New Year’s Evil (January 6)

  • NXT Championship: Oba Femi defends against Leon Slater
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne defends against Kendal Grey
  • NXT Women’s North American Championship: Thea Hail defends against Blake Monroe

NXT Championship match confirmed for New Year’s Evil

Leon Slater is heading to New Year’s Evil.

In the main event of Tuesday’s NXT, the TNA X Division Champion defeated Joe Hendry, Dion Lennox, and Myles Borne in a four-way match to determine Oba Femi’s opponent for January 6. The finish had Hendry and Lennox brawling on the outside as Slater connected with the swanton 450 splash on Borne for the victory. The closing moments of NXT saw Oba Femi arrive to stare down his future challenger.

At NXT Deadline, Je’Von Evans won the Iron Survivor Challenge and initially was set to face Femi at New Year’s Evil. However, on the following NXT he interrupted a Ricky Saints/Femi promo and said he wanted his title match immediately. Femi accepted the challenge and the two wrestled on the show’s main event. Evans had the match won until Saints, upset that Evans had gotten a title match before him, turned against Evans and dragged the referee out of the ring. Evans took out Saints with a dive but the momentum had already shifted, with Femi ultimately emerging as the winner.

With Evans already cashing in, Ava on last week’s show made the New Year’s Evil number one contender’s match for this week’s show featuring the four men who didn’t win the Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline.

Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge winner crowned at WWE NXT Deadline

Kendal Grey is heading to New Year’s Evil.

The EVOLVE Women’s Champion scored the shock win at Saturday’s Deadline, moving on to face Jacy Jayne on January 6. The finish of the match had everyone in a five-way tie in the final minute. Sol Ruca hit the sol snatcher on Lola Vice outside of the ring, but was attacked by Kelani Jordan as she left the penalty box and hit a 450 splash. Jordynne Grace broke up the pin as she and Jordan brawled out of the ring. As Vice recovered, Grey launched off the top rope and hit the shades of Grey for the pinfall, putting her in the lead with three pins right at the 25 minute mark.

As Grey and Wren Sinclair celebrated, Jayne and the rest of Fatal Influence appeared on the rampway, having a staredown with the Iron Survivor Challenge winner.

After Charlie Dempsey left for Japan, he left Wren Sinclair on her own, who decided to form a friendship with EVOLVE Champion Kendal Grey. In the weeks since then, Grey has scored wins on NXT television including successfully defending the EVOLVE title against Laney Reid during the NXT Gold Rush last month.
