Jey Uso: WWE WrestleMania 41 is ‘do or die for me’

Jey Uso understands just how important WWE WrestleMania 41 is to his career.

In the biggest match of his life, Uso will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania in Las Vegas this April. He earned the title shot by winning the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble — a victory that surprised most fans given how much star power was in the match.

Uso told CBS Sports that he feels like people doubt him a lot, but he has a chance to prove his detractors wrong with a great showing against Gunther.

“This is do or die for me,” he said. “I feel like I am doubted a lot. A lot of people are doubting me right now, Uce. I’m not supposed to be in this position. I know that. They know that. But I’m going to shut them all up.”

This is also a chance for Uso to make up for the lackluster match he had at WrestleMania 40 last year. He faced off against his twin brother Jimmy Uso at that event, with Jey admitting that he felt like they let everyone down by not delivering a great performance. Jey told CBS Sports that, while he’s had standout matches as a tag team competitor in the past, he wants to show he can do the same as a singles wrestler.

“I always thought we put on great matches. If you look at it, we had great matches with The Wyatt Family, The Shield, The New Day. Now, I feel like I’ve had a couple of good matches but not ones that stick in people’s minds,” Uso said. “This is redemption time on the big stage. The pressure is on.”

Uso said he feels like Gunther is the “best in-ring performer.” Their WrestleMania title bout is a rematch from January’s episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event, where Uso came up short in his attempt to dethrone Gunther.

Allegiant Stadium is hosting WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.

Charlotte Flair vs. Tiffany Stratton official for WWE WrestleMania 41

It’s Tiffy Time for The Queen.

2025 women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair revealed on Friday’s WWE SmackDown that she has chosen Tiffany Stratton as her WrestleMania 41 opponent, and Stratton will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Flair in Las Vegas on April 19 or April 20 at the two-night event.

Stratton retained her WWE Women’s title by disqualification against Nia Jax on Friday’s SmackDown after Candice LeRae interfered. A brawl ensued with Stratton, Jax, LeRae, and Hall of Famer Trish Stratus who was ringside for the match, with Jax and LeRae leaving Stratton and Stratus laying.

As the Women’s Champion was laid out on the mat, Flair entered and told Stratton that she was choosing her as her WrestleMania 41 opponent.

The first two matches are now official for WrestleMania 41, as Jey Uso announced on this week’s Raw that he will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at the event.

With this week’s announcements from the Royal Rumble winners, the winner of the men’s Elimination Chamber match on March 1 will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Mania, and the winner of the women’s Chamber match will take on Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley.

WrestleMania 41 is set for Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The lineup for the show to this point:

  • World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Jey Uso
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Charlotte Flair
  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against men’s Elimination Chamber winner
  • Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley defends against women’s Elimination Chamber winner

Jey Uso vs. Gunther World title match official for WWE WrestleMania 41

Jey Uso has made his decision.

2025 Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41 on April 19 or 20 in Las Vegas.

Uso made the announcement in the opening segment of Monday’s WWE Raw where Gunther interrupted an Uso entrance segment and beat the challenger around ringside. Gunther left the scene after being escorted away by referees and officials, but as he hit the entrance stage, Uso took the microphone in the ring and stated that he was choosing Gunther as his WrestleMania opponent. Uso got a measure of revenge for the Gunther beatdown by hitting a dive to the champ:

Gunther has held the World Heavyweight title since defeating Damian Priest for the gold at SummerSlam last August. Uso won the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match, granting him a shot at the champion of his choosing at WrestleMania 41.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host the two-night WrestleMania 41 event on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20. The show will stream on Peacock in the United States.

Details announced for WWE World WrestleMania week convention

The five-day convention — presented by WWE & Fanatics — is taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall from Thursday, April 17 through Monday, April 21. It will include autograph signings, live podcast recordings, roundtable discussions with WWE wrestlers, merchandise sales, and more.

Tickets for the convention are going on sale to the general public at noon Eastern time on Monday, February 3. A pre-sale is set to begin on Wednesday, January 29.

WWE World is a replacement for the WrestleMania Axxess convention that used to happen during WrestleMania week.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is hosting WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20. It’s the first time WrestleMania has been held in Vegas since 1993.

Raw, SmackDown, NXT Stand & Deliver, and the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will also take place from Vegas in the days surrounding WrestleMania.

WWE announces on-sale date for WrestleMania 41 individual night tickets

Individual night tickets for WWE WrestleMania 41 will be available to purchase starting next week.

WWE announced today that individual event tickets for this year’s WrestleMania are going on sale to the general public at noon Eastern/9 a.m. Pacific next Friday (January 24). A pre-sale will begin next Wednesday (January 22).

The event is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20. Two-night combo tickets have been on sale since October 2024.

No matches have been made official for WrestleMania yet, but the card should start coming into focus after the Royal Rumble takes place on Saturday, February 1.

This will be the last WrestleMania that John Cena ever competes at. He’s on a retirement tour that started this month and will end in December. Cena, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Logan Paul, Liv Morgan, Gunther, Rey Mysterio, Seth Rollins, Nia Jax, and Jey Uso are featured on WWE’s graphic promoting the WrestleMania 41 ticket on-sale date.

WWE and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have partnered together for the event, along with Raw, SmackDown, NXT Stand & Deliver, the WWE World fan convention, and the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony taking place in Las Vegas in the days surrounding WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena currently planned for WWE WrestleMania 41

As of right now, Cody Rhodes is slated to be John Cena’s last-ever WrestleMania opponent.

Dave Meltzer confirmed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, as of this moment, Rhodes vs. Cena is planned to take place this April at WrestleMania 41. If it happens, the idea behind the match would be Cena challenging Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship and attempting to break the World title reign record that he currently shares with Ric Flair. However, Meltzer notes that Rhodes vs. Cena is not etched in stone and could change if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson ends up wrestling at WrestleMania.

Meltzer wrote:

So for WrestleMania, the reports of Rhodes vs. John Cena are accurate as things stand right now. The idea of Cena challenging one of the two champions in an attempt to break the so-called record of 16 reigns that he and Flair share has been a working idea for months. At first it was the Raw title given Rhodes vs. Rock would be for the other title and People’s belt. This isn’t etched in stone because whatever Rock wants to do, he’s likely going to be able to do. I do know that people are expecting him to appear on the show [WrestleMania 41] in some form. As for wrestling on the show, I even know people at the top who are expecting that, but it’s not a sure thing and one would think the Netflix show on 1/6 will kick off the season and tip the hand. Rock could do another match even though WWE title vs. People’s title was what he wanted after Mania.

2025 will be Cena’s final year as an in-ring competitor. His retirement tour kicks off on Raw’s Netflix premiere this coming Monday and will last through the end of the year. He’s scheduled to work around 36 dates for WWE during the retirement tour.

Rhodes is defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in a ladder match at WWE Royal Rumble on Saturday, February 1.

Update on John Cena’s WWE WrestleMania 41 plans

It doesn’t look like Logan Paul will be John Cena’s final WrestleMania opponent.

Addressing rumors that circulated online recently, Dave Meltzer reports that he’s been told Cena vs. Logan Paul is “100 percent not happening” at WrestleMania 41. Cena challenging for a World Championship at the show is a possibility — with Cena attempting to break the World title record that he shares with Ric Flair.

Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

Regarding some rumors, there probably were talks of Cena vs. Logan Paul at Mania and Logan Paul did ask for it, but we’re told it’s 100 percent not happening. We also know the idea of Cena challenging for a world title to break the so-called record of 16 by Ric Flair is something that at least as a month ago could happen

The two World titles in WWE are currently held by Cody Rhodes and Gunther.

2025 will be the final year of Cena’s in-ring career. He’s set to work around 36 dates for WWE from January through December. The first date on his retirement tour will be Raw’s Netflix premiere on January 6.

WrestleMania 41 is being held in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.

WrestleVotes also reported earlier this week that, while Cena vs. Paul has been discussed for WrestleMania 41, the idea has been met with “resounding disapproval from several within creative.”

Triple H has list ‘a mile long’ of celebrities who want to appear at WWE WrestleMania 41

Celebrities are lining up to take part in WWE WrestleMania 41 next year, says WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Appearing on the Roommates Show with NBA star Jalen Brunson (who has made appearances for WWE) and Josh Hart, Triple H stated that WWE is in a resurgent period hotter than its Attitude Era peak, and that stars from all walks of entertainment want to get on board.

“We’re in sort of like this resurgence of WWE, and I was a big part of the Attitude Era, but this is bigger than the Attitude Era was,” Triple H said. “It’s amazing the amount of people on a weekly basis that we get to do cool stuff with.”

Specifically, celebrities want to take part in WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas next April, Triple H said:

“I’ve got a celebrity list a mile long for people who want to do something for WrestleMania in April in Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, and we just don’t have the real estate to do it with them. So we’ll pick the biggest ones and the ones that make sense storyline-wise for us and we’ll do it with them. But it’s incredible the amount of people that just want to be involved.”

Triple H’s interview on Roommates Show can be viewed in its entirety in the embedded video below.

Bronson Reed injury update: Could miss WWE WrestleMania 41

Bronson Reed’s injury could keep him out of action through WrestleMania season.

At Survivor Series on November 30, Reed was injured during the men’s WarGames match while going for a Tsunami off the top of the cage and landing feet-first on the way down. WWE has announced that Reed suffered a broken foot and will be out of action indefinitely.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Radio last night that they’ve heard Reed is not expected back in time for WrestleMania 41.

“Bronson Reed is having foot surgery. He’s going to be out for months, yeah, a long time,” Meltzer said. “I was told, after you [Alvarez] had messaged me that, I asked somebody there and they said that he’s not expected to be back for WrestleMania. It’s expected to be a long time.”

WrestleMania 41 is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Reed was a member of the New Bloodline team at Survivor Series, viewing himself as a mercenary rather than permanently aligning with Solo Sikoa’s group. They lost to Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn & CM Punk in WarGames. The spot where Reed got hurt was a key story moment in the match. He was attempting to splash Reigns through a table, but Punk moved Reigns out of the way. Punk earned Reigns’ trust by saving him and the two were able to get on the same page.

Despite his injury, Reed tweeted that his spirit remains unbreakable.

The Rock might not compete at WWE WrestleMania 41

The Rock’s acting schedule could potentially keep him off the WWE WrestleMania 41 card.

At Bad Blood last weekend, The Rock returned to WWE for the first time since the aftermath of WrestleMania 40. He made a surprise appearance at the end of the PLE after Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes teamed together to defeat The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu.

It’s been speculated that The Rock could face Rhodes or Reigns — or both of them in a triple threat match — at WrestleMania 41. But Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, at least as of right now, The Rock is not scheduled for WrestleMania:

  • However, as of right now, Dwayne Johnson is not scheduled for the show. Obviously that could change and he’s going to do what he wants all the time. While nobody can say it publicly, some with old school mentalities didn’t like the idea that he stole the show and itā€˜s not building to a match. ‘He’s not going to be able to do Mania. He already gave word that he wouldn’t be able to do that match’ [a source said] when asked bout Rock vs. Reigns vs. Rhodes. Rock came out with the People’s belt that the widow of Muhammad Ali gave him at the Hall of Fame. There was no specific reason given past we were told that different reasons were given to different people. What we do know is that Dwayne Johnson when it comes to this is either going to be all in, meaning a full training camp to get into the best wrestling and cosmetic shape he can get in, or not in. ‘The story is simply his schedule got too heavy, he couldn’t commit to doing it right.

Though The Rock may not be scheduled for WrestleMania right now, Meltzer noted that it’s only October and there is still time for him to change his mind:

  • Ultimately it’s October and he would probably have until just before the Royal Rumble if he were to change his mind, and really he probably could even change his mind after that but it would throw everything into chaos as they have to have Mania plans when formatting the Rumble. If he was to change his mind, ultimately he would decide who he wants to face and the only thing that would get a pushback was if he wanted to win the WWE title, in which case it’s hard to say what would or wouldn’t prevail, but that’s not an issue at all right now. Johnson’s schedule has always been a factor because of the amount of preparation time he feels he needs to do what he wants to be able to do. It is why the original plan for him to face Reigns didn’t happen in Los Angeles in 2023 after it had been talked about for years.
  • Another person who would be intricately involved in the top of the card program said that he had no idea about anything. These things are largely kept secret from the talent because as noted last year, the plan for Rock vs. Reigns to headline WrestleMania was being negotiated through December and agreed to in early January. However, Rhodes had been told he was facing Reigns in the main event for months. From talent close to him they believed he was officially first told around October. He was not told differently until the day of the Rumble when he was told he was winning the Rumble, but not facing Reigns at WrestleMania and to not tell anyone and go out and act like he was. Almost nobody knew what the plan was until the angle was shot on the following Smackdown and the reaction online to that angle led to Rhodes vs. Reigns happening.

In the main event of WrestleMania 40 night one this April, The Rock returned for his first real WWE match in more than a decade. He pinned Rhodes in a tag team match on night one. Rhodes then won the Undisputed WWE Championship from Reigns on night two.

WrestleMania 41 is taking place from Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Steve Austin ‘happy to’ make WWE WrestleMania 41 appearance if idea makes sense

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin would be happy to appear at WrestleMania 41 if WWE has an idea for him that makes sense.

Reiterating comments that he’s made previously, Austin told Fox News Digital that — with the event taking place in Nevada — he’s open to appearing at WrestleMania 41. Austin lives on a ranch that’s located south of Reno. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is hosting WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025.

“I do spend several trips a year in Las Vegas, so, to think that WWE’s biggest signature pay-per-view event is 400 miles away, in a state that I live in, that I’m going to be there, make a couple of appearances, I’ll be promoting my beer if they, WWE, reached out and said, ā€˜Hey, maybe you want to do something,’ I’d be happy to do it as long as it makes sense,” Austin told Fox News Digital.

If Austin does appear, it would be his first time being involved with WrestleMania since coming out of retirement in 2022 to face Kevin Owens in a no holds barred match. That was Austin’s first time wrestling in 19 years.

The 59-year-old Austin told Fox News Digital that, while he always thinks about having one more match, he’s “totally reality based” and believes that pro wrestling is a young man’s sport.

“They got such a stacked roster with so many great superstars these days that they’re not going to have any problem filling two nights of entertainment,” Austin said. “But if I got out there and be a part of it on one hand and do something positive that works for the company and works for what they want to do, and it satisfied a crowd, I’d be happy to.”

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin comments on potential WWE WrestleMania 41 appearance

With WrestleMania 41 being held in Las Vegas, an appearance by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin could potentially be in the cards.

The Athletic spent time with Austin at his ranch in Nevada for a profile piece that was published this week. In the story, Austin indicated there’s a chance he could appear at WrestleMania 41 next April.

ā€œI said I won’t leave Nevada. It’s hard to get me out of this state,ā€ Austin said. ā€œBut … WrestleMania next year is in Vegas. That’s in Nevada.ā€

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is hosting WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, 2025. If Austin is involved with the event, it will be his first WrestleMania appearance since coming out of retirement to face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in 2022. That no holds barred match — which wasn’t officially announced in advance — was Austin’s first time wrestling in nearly two decades.

There were rumors that the 59-year-old Austin could potentially show up during the Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes main event at WrestleMania 40 night two this April. Instead, two other legends filled that role. The Undertaker and John Cena helped Rhodes fend off interference by The Rock and the rest of The Bloodline. Rhodes defeated Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

WWE WrestleMania 41 to be held in Las Vegas

WrestleMania is officially headed back to Las Vegas for the first time since 1993.

In recent weeks, Las Vegas had become the frontrunner to host WrestleMania 41. That was made official today with WWE announcing that WrestleMania 41 will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, 2025.

The announcement aired during NBC’s pre-race coverage of the Kentucky Derby.

This marks a bit of a schedule change for WrestleMania. Traditionally, the show has been held in early April. It’s now being pushed back a few weeks in 2025. WWE president Nick Khan said last month that WrestleMania would be moving away from taking place on the same weekend as the Final Four of NCAA March Madness.

Night two of WrestleMania 41 is the same day as Easter Sunday.

Allegiant Stadium is the home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. SummerSlam 2021 was the first WWE event to be held at the stadium.

WrestleMania coming to Vegas is a collaboration between WWE and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. In the days surrounding WrestleMania, Las Vegas will also host Raw, SmackDown, the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, NXT Stand & Deliver, and the WWE World convention.

Ticket details will be announced in the coming months. WWE has started a mailing list for those interested in pre-sale information when it becomes available.

WrestleMania IX is the only other WrestleMania that’s been held in Las Vegas. Caesars Palace was the venue for that show.

Minneapolis was considered one of the contenders to host WrestleMania 41 before Vegas was chosen as the location.
