Tomohiro Ishii vs. Timothy Thatcher set for WrestleCon SuperShow

A new bout has been added to the Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow at WrestleCon. 

NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii will face Timothy Thatcher on the Thursday, March 31 event at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas as part of WrestleMania weekend’s festivities. The show will air live on FITE TV at 9 p.m. Central time. 

Ishii will also be in action the following day at NJPW Strong Lonestar Shootout, facing Chris Dickinson on that card. 

Thatcher is coming off a WWE NXT run that began when he signed in February 2020. He debuted on NXT TV in April 2020, with his last match in the company airing in August 2021. News of Thatcher’s WWE release broke on January 5, 2022.

NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii set for WrestleCon SuperShow

NJPW star Tomohiro Ishii is among the latest additions to this year’s WrestleCon SuperShow.

WrestleCon announced today that Ishii, Michael Oku, Black Taurus, and PCO have been added to the 2022 Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow. The event is being held at The Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, March 31. It will be available to watch via Fite TV.

Opponents for the four new wrestlers set for the SuperShow have yet to be announced.

Ishii is also set to face Chris Dickinson at NJPW Lonestar Shootout in Dallas on Friday, April 1. Lonestar Shootout is taking place as part of WrestleCon.

This year’s WrestleCon convention begins on March 31 and ends on Saturday, April 2.

Minoru Suzuki vs. Biff Busick set for WrestleCon SuperShow

Minoru Suzuki will take on Biff Busick in Dallas.

WrestleCon made Suzuki vs. Busick the first official match announcement for the annual Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow in Dallas at the Fairmont Hotel on Thursday, March 31.

The announcement came after Busick demanded a match with Suzuki earlier in the day.

The convention obliged, and the match is on. 

Suzuki and Busick join Mike Bailey, The Briscoe Brothers, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Bandido, Jonathan Gresham, and Atsushi Onita as the talent officially announced for the SuperShow.

Oney Lorcan during his WWE tenure, Busick was part of the November 2021 WWE mass releases that included 18 different talents being cut.

Suzuki was announced for a pair of NJPW shows in the United States in April, including the Lonestar Shooutout on Friday, April 1 in Dallas, plus Windy City Riot in the Chicago area on Saturday, April 16. He currently holds the NJPW provisional KOPW 2022 trophy, and is set to defend it against Toru Yano in a dog cage match on Sunday’s NJPW New Year’s Golden Series event.

Shingo Takagi vs. Bandido set for WrestleCon SuperShow

Shingo Takagi and Bandido are set to face off over WrestleMania week.

WrestleCon announced today that Takagi vs. Bandido will take place at their Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow in Tampa, Florida on Thursday, April 2. The show is taking place at The Ritz Ybor City and will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

WrestleCon wrote that this may be the only match they announce for the SuperShow in advance. Will Ospreay, Black Taurus, Zack Sabre Jr., and Amazing Red have also been confirmed for the event.

Takagi and Bandido were both part of PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles finals in 2018. Jeff Cobb was the winner of that three-way elimination match.

Bandido headlined last year’s WrestleCon SuperShow, losing to Ospreay.

Takagi is also set for Pro Wrestling Revolver’s Pancakes & Piledrivers IV event during WrestleCon. He’ll face Chris Dickinson at the show, which is being held at The Ritz Ybor City at 11 a.m. Eastern on Saturday, April 4.

Shingo Takagi announced for WrestleCon SuperShow

A second NJPW star has been confirmed for WrestleCon’s WrestleMania week SuperShow.

WrestleCon announced today that Shingo Takagi will be in action at this year’s Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow. The event is taking place at The Ritz Ybor in Tampa, Florida on Thursday, April 2 and will start at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

This will be the first time Takagi has taken part in WrestleCon.

Will Ospreay has also been announced for this year’s WrestleCon SuperShow, along with Bandido, Alex Zayne, Blake Christian, and Jordan Oliver. Ospreay vs. Bandido headlined the 2019 WrestleCon SuperShow in New York City, with Ospreay getting the win.

Los Ingobernables de Japon (Takagi, EVIL & BUSHI) became NJPW’s NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions by winning a gauntlet match at Wrestle Kingdom 14 night two. Takagi will challenge Hirooki Goto for the NEVER Openweight Championship in the main event of the New Beginning in Sapporo on Saturday, February 1.

Ospreay set for Janela’s Spring Break, WrestleCon SuperShow

With WrestleMania season approaching, Will Ospreay has been announced for two independent shows in Tampa.

Ospreay will be in action at Game Changer Wrestling’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4 at The Cuban Club in Ybor City on Friday, April 3. This will be the first time Ospreay has wrestled at a Spring Break or for GCW.

The Great Muta was confirmed for Janela’s Spring Break 4 back in November.

It was also announced today that Ospreay is the first wrestler set for this year’s WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow. The event is taking place at The Ritz in Ybor City on Thursday, April 2.

Ospreay has wrestled at the WrestleCon SuperShow every year since 2016. At last year’s show, he defeated Bandido in the main event.

Dave Meltzer reported on the heel injury that Ospreay suffered when he faced Hiromu Takahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 14 night one: “After the show came word he was injured and may have broken his heel. He said he didn’t feel that bad when he got up two days later and worked New Year’s Dash. But that night he was really hurting bad. He underwent X-rays and had suffered a fractured heel. But at this point he’s scheduled back for New Japan for the next tour that starts 1/25 and for a British title match with Zack Sabre Jr.”

Dragon Lee vs. Cavernario added to WrestleCon Supershow

A match between CMLL stars has been added to next month’s WrestleCon Supershow.

WrestleCon has announced that Dragon Lee will face Cavernario at this year’s Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow, which is taking place at the Hilton New York Midtown Ballroom in New York City on Thursday, April 4.

In their last singles match against each other, Dragon Lee defeated Cavernario two falls to one at CMLL’s Arena Mexico show on January 4.

Will Ospreay vs. Bandido is also set for the WrestleCon Supershow, and it’s been announced that Jushin Thunder Liger will be taking part in the event.

Dragon Lee and Bandido will both be featured at ROH and NJPW’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 6. It was announced last week that IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori will defend his title against Dragon Lee and Bandido in a triple threat match at G1 Supercard. The match features representatives from NJPW (Ishimori), CMLL (Dragon Lee), and ROH (Bandido).

Jushin Thunder Liger set for WrestleCon Supershow

Jushin Thunder Liger will be in New York City during WrestleMania week.

WrestleCon announced today that Liger will be part of this year’s Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow in New York City on Thursday, April 4: “This was originally going to be one of the many surprises at the WrestleCon Supershow, but in light of his retirement announcement, we want to announce that @Liger_NJPW will be part of the WrestleCon Supershow and we have about 150 tickets remaining”

At a press conference overnight, Liger announced that he’ll be retiring at the Tokyo Dome in January 2020. NJPW is running the Tokyo Dome on back-to-back nights in 2020, with the events taking place on January 4 and January 5.

Liger said at the press conference that he wants to be booked on ROH and NJPW’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 6. Liger also said he wants to wrestle all over the world between now and January.

This year’s WrestleCon Supershow is taking place at the Hilton New York Midtown Ballroom. Will Ospreay vs. Bandido has been announced for the show.

Will Ospreay vs. Bandido set for WrestleCon Supershow

WrestleCon has announced a first-time matchup for their WrestleMania week Supershow.

Will Ospreay vs. Bandido is set for this year’s Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow, which is taking place at the Hilton New York Midtown Ballroom in New York City at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, April 4.

The Supershow is happening two days before Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden. Ospreay is the current NEVER Openweight Champion in NJPW after winning the title at this year’s Tokyo Dome show, while Bandido is signed to ROH and made his debut for the promotion in January.

Ospreay is also set to team with PAC against CCK (Chris Brookes & Jonathan Gresham) at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s WrestleMania week event on the afternoon of Friday, April 5. RevPro’s show is presented by WrestleCon and is also taking place at the Hilton New York Midtown Ballroom.

Omega & Ibushi vs. Best Friends set for WrestleCon SuperShow

Kenny Omega’s match against Cody Rhodes for Ring of Honor won’t be the only time he’ll be wrestling during WrestleMania week.

WrestleCon announced last Friday that Omega would be appearing at their SuperShow on April 5th. They didn’t reveal Omega’s match then, but it was confirmed today that Omega & Kota Ibushi would be teaming against Best Friends (Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor) at the show.

The SuperShow falls on a Thursday and will be taking place at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans. When announcing Omega & Ibushi vs. Best Friends, the Highspots Wrestling Network tweeted that it will be “coming exclusively to HighspotsWrestlingNetwork.com.”

Omega is set to appear at the WrestleCon convention on Friday during WrestleMania week as well. His match against Cody is scheduled for that Saturday, with ROH’s Supercard of Honor XII going against NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Ibushi has also been announced for Supercard of Honor.
