ACH vs. Lio Rush announced for Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4

Two former WWE roster members will face each other at GCW’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4 as ACH and Lio Rush will go one-on-one.

ACH was released by WWE in November 2019 as part of a two month ordeal that began with a t-shirt design that was compared to blackface imagery. Since then, he has stayed busy with GCW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, an MLW appearance, and various indies.

Rush was let go in April as part of WWE’s pandemic cuts, later released an album, and made headlines in May for a social media war of words with Mark Henry. He is also reportedly on MTV’s next season of The Challenge. His first match after his release was in a loss to Janela at GCW Homecoming Weekend in July.

The show will be part of GCW’s The Collective, set for the weekend of October 9th. The Janela event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th.

The card as of now with two matches left to be announced.

  • Joey Janela vs. Ricky Morton
  • 4th annual Clusterf*ck Battle Royal
  • The Rascalz (Desmond Xavier/Zachary Wentz) vs. Iron Beast
  • Alex Shelley vs. Tony Deppen
  • Lee Moriarty vs. Jonathan Gresham
  • Matt Tremont vs. Alex Colon in Tremont’s final deathmatch

Joey Janela vs. Ricky Morton set for Spring Break 4

Joey Janela will face off with one half of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4.

Janela released a video on Monday night announcing that Janela vs. Ricky Morton will take place at Spring Break 4. The show is being held at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, October 10. It will be available to watch live via Fite TV.

Morton made his Spring Break debut when The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express lost to Santana & Ortiz at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 3, part 2 in April 2019.

This Monday was Morton’s 64th birthday. He tweeted about facing Janela at Spring Break: “For my 64th birthday, I get to wrestle @JANELABABY for the biggest independent wrestling scene @GCWrestling_ Wow, just wow. #JJSB4”

Alex Shelley vs. Tony Deppen, Matt Tremont vs. Alex Colon in Tremont’s final GCW match, Jonathan Gresham vs. Lee Moriarty, The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz) vs. IronBeast (KTB & Shane Mercer), and this year’s Clusterf*ck battle royal have also been confirmed for Spring Break 4. Ethan Page has been announced as the agent for the Clusterf*ck.

Spring Break 4 is part of Game Changer Wrestling’s The Collective. The events were originally supposed to take place in Tampa, Florida over WrestleMania weekend this April before being rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Face masks are required for those attending the Collective shows and they’re being done at a reduced capacity with a staggered seating chart.

GCW adds Alex Shelley to Spring Break, DBS Jr. to Bloodsport

Game Changer Wrestling has made a couple of talent announcements for WrestleMania week.

It was announced yesterday that Alex Shelley will be in action at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4 on Friday, April 3. This will be the first time that Shelley has wrestled at a Spring Break show or for GCW.

Shelley & Kushida teamed up in NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and lost to The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) in the first round last Wednesday. WWE uploaded a video after the show where Shelley & Kushida discussed reuniting, thanked the fans, and — despite their loss — put the NXT tag team division on notice.

The Great Muta and Will Ospreay have also been confirmed for Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4.

Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport III is being held on Thursday, April 2. It was announced yesterday that Davey Boy Smith Jr. will be wrestling at Bloodsport.

Smith Jr. has wrestled at both of Barnett’s previous Bloodsport shows, defeating Killer Kross and Tom Lawlor.

Barnett vs. Jon Moxley is set for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport III, and Jeff Cobb has been confirmed for the show as well. The event features hybrid MMA/pro wrestling-style matches that have no ropes and can only be won by knockout or submission.

Spring Break and Bloodsport are both taking place at The Cuban Club in Tampa, Florida.

Ospreay set for Janela’s Spring Break, WrestleCon SuperShow

With WrestleMania season approaching, Will Ospreay has been announced for two independent shows in Tampa.

Ospreay will be in action at Game Changer Wrestling’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4 at The Cuban Club in Ybor City on Friday, April 3. This will be the first time Ospreay has wrestled at a Spring Break or for GCW.

The Great Muta was confirmed for Janela’s Spring Break 4 back in November.

It was also announced today that Ospreay is the first wrestler set for this year’s WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow. The event is taking place at The Ritz in Ybor City on Thursday, April 2.

Ospreay has wrestled at the WrestleCon SuperShow every year since 2016. At last year’s show, he defeated Bandido in the main event.

Dave Meltzer reported on the heel injury that Ospreay suffered when he faced Hiromu Takahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 14 night one: “After the show came word he was injured and may have broken his heel. He said he didn’t feel that bad when he got up two days later and worked New Year’s Dash. But that night he was really hurting bad. He underwent X-rays and had suffered a fractured heel. But at this point he’s scheduled back for New Japan for the next tour that starts 1/25 and for a British title match with Zack Sabre Jr.”
