Two title bouts, kickoff match booked for WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

More matches have been announced for Stand & Deliver.

Los Americanos won the number one contender’s match for the Tag Team titles on Tuesday, winning after help from El Grande Americano, who aided them by giving them an object to load into their mask. As a result, they will now challenge Vanity Project at Stand & Deliver this coming Saturday.

Bravo & Rayo were slotted into the tournament after Elio LeFleur & Eli Knight were seen attacked backstage last week, putting them out of the tournament. Los Americanos defeated The Culling’s Shawn Spears and Niko Vance to advance to Tuesday’s finals.

Meanwhile, Blake Monroe and Tatum Paxley agreed to a title match in St. Louis following a face-to-face on Tuesday’s show in New York City. The two ended up getting into a tug of war over the Women’s North American title, which Monroe stole from Paxley two weeks ago. Monroe managed to snatch the title and flee before Paxley could do more damage.

A pre-show match was also set for Saturday. Birthright will take on Eli Knight, Hank & Tank, Shiloh Hill, and Wren Sinclair in a ten-person tag team match.

Botch causes inadvertent title change on WWE NXT

A botch led to a new champion on NXT.

Thea Hail walked away with the Women’s North American title on Tuesday, with Bryan Alvarez reporting it was not planned and only happened due to a botched spot. The finish had Hail hit a springboard senton off the middle rope on Blake Monroe, then going for a cover. The referee counted three, with Monroe getting her shoulder up right after the referee counted to three. After a bit of confusion and Monroe’s music played, Hail’s music then started and she was announced the winner.

When the show returned from commercial break, a replay was shown with announcers affirming Monroe didn’t get her shoulder up until after three. She had held the title for 51 days, defeating Zaria at NXT Halloween Havoc. Zaria was a substitute for Sol Ruca, who in storyline was injured and unable to compete in the scheduled title match.

On last week’s NXT, Monroe insisted on holding an open challenge for her title, causing many of the NXT talent to come out and accept. But it was Hail who attacked from behind with a kimura, leading Monroe to tap out. Despite this, the bell never rang and Monroe escaped with her title. Later in the show, Ava made a title match for next week.

Women’s North American title match, six-man tag added to WWE NXT Battleground

Two new matches have been made official for Sunday’s Battleground.

Kelani Jordan will get another shot at Sol Ruca’s NXT North American Championship after defeating Zaria in a match where if she won, she would get a title match on Sunday in Tampa. Jordan ended up winning after Zaria accidentally speared Ruca, with Jordan using the distraction to roll up Zaria.

In recent weeks, Zaria has served as a gatekeeper of sorts to Ruca. She originally rejected the idea of Jordan challenging Ruca but relented when Ruca agreed to the stipulation for this week’s match.

A six-man tag team match was also set as Shawn Spears, Niko Vance, and Brooks Jensen will take on Josh Briggs, Hank Walker, and Tank Ledger. After Spears defeated Briggs on NXT, all of The Culling jumped Briggs until the NXT Tag Team Champions made the save.

Stephanie Vaquer relinquishes Women’s North American title on WWE NXT

The NXT Women’s North American Championship has been vacated.

Stephanie Vaquer and Ava opened NXT with the announcement. Ava said that although Vaquer retained both of her titles last week, the North American title deserves to be defended frequently. Both agreed that Vaquer should relinquish the title, and a new champion will be determined at Stand & Deliver in a six-woman ladder match.

Vaquer said that she would agree to relinquish the title under the condition that she gets to name her Stand & Deliver opponent.

It was then that Jordynne Grace came out to make her case. Jaida Parker interrupted and the two argued over who should get the title shot. They ended up brawling, with security coming out to separate the two.

Vaquer defeated Giulia to win the NXT Women’s title at Roadblock last month, becoming a double champion. She successfully defended both titles on last week’s show, first defeating Jaida Parker to retain the Women’s title while defeating Fallon Henley in the main event to retain the North American title.
