UFC on ESPN+ 83 live results: Max Holloway vs. Chan Sung Jung

The Octagon closes out August with a pretty strong fight card featuring several intriguing fights as UFC On ESPN 83: Holloway vs. The Korean Zombie takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

The main event features two of the most exciting featherweights in UFC history as former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway takes on “The Korean Zombie”, Chan Sung Jung, in a fight fans have been anticipating for years. Holloway is looking to score his second straight win, while Jung returns from injury in what could end up being his final fight.

The co-main event is a rematch at light heavyweight as Anthony Smith looks for another win over Ryan Spann after submitting him in September 2021. There is also a potential title eliminator bout in the women’s flyweight division, as Erin Blanchfield takes on Taila Santos. Also on the main card is a featherweight fight pitting Giga Chikadze against Alex Caceres, and a heavyweight bout between Junior Tafa and Parker Porter.

They’re trading to start the second and Choi lands some leg kicks. They trade kicks. Errens drops Choi with an uppercut and jumps on top. He’s working in the half-guard but Choi is able to reverse. Aldrich landing more to start as Na is throwing punches but not really landing. Na lands a right hand that forces a clinch and Na gets it to the mat. Na lands more on the mat but Aldrich is able to get it back to the feet. Na lands a kick. Aldrich lands a combination. Na tries a takedown but Aldrich reverses and gets the back and has the hooks in as she flattens Na out. Na escapes from the position but Aldrich remains on top and in side control. Aldrich ends the round on top. 10-9 Aldrich.

They trade to start the second. Na lands a body kick and a quick flurry. Na tries a takedown and Aldrich sprawls, but Na gets the back and has the mount. Na looking for an arm-triangle choke. Aldrich is fighting it off. Aldrich escapes and is on top and in side control. Aldrich is landing from the top and gets the mount and continues to land from there. Aldrich landing hammerfists from the top and Na gives up her back. Aldrich landing more punches. Aldrich flattens Na out and starts landing lots and lots of punches, then lands some elbows as Na spun back around and gets the late stoppage. Great finish from Aldrich!

Kinoshita lands a combo in close range. Goff lands a leg kick. He lands another and Kinoshita lands a solid jab. They trade punches and Kinoshita lands slightly more. The Octagon is back in London for the second time this year with UFC on ESPN 82: Aspinall vs. Tybura in front of a sold-out crowd at the O2 Arena.

Rising heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall makes his return after a year out of action as he battles Marcin Tybura in the five-round main event. Aspinall tore his ACL in his last fight, a loss to Curtis Blaydes exactly one year ago, and looks to get back into the title picture. Tybura is on a stretch of winning seven of his last eight fights.

Also on the main card is a women’s flyweight bout between Molly McCann and Julija Stoliarenko, a featherweight bout pitting Nathaniel Wood against Andre Fili, Paul Craig dropping down to middleweight to fight Andre Muniz, and a featherweight fight between the undefeated Lerone Murphy and Josh Culibao.

Aspinall lands a body kick and was rushing in to land but Tybura landed a right hand to stop him in his tracks. Aspinall lands a combo but Tybura did land a right hand again. Aspinall lands an elbow then drops Tybura with a right hand and finishes it off quickly with more punches from the top. Big win for Aspinall in his return fight and he made it look easy.

The Octagon heads to an old, but familiar, venue, returning to The Theater at the Virgin Hotel, which was formerly The Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel, with an exciting card headlined by a pivotal bantamweight bout.

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan looks to get back into the win column and end the long win streak of Merab Dvalishvili in the five-round headline bout. Yan is looking to end a two-fight losing skid as he’s coming off a close decision loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 280 in October. Dvalishvili comes into this fight riding an eight-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming over soon-to-be UFC Hall Of Famer Jose Aldo at UFC 278 in August.

In the co-main event, it is a battle of big heavyweights as Alexander Volkov takes on Alexandr Romanov. Also on the main card is a catchweight bout at 215 pounds between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann in a re-scheduling of a main event bout from two weeks ago that was cancelled on fight day, plus a bantamweight bout pitting Said Nurmagomedov against Jonathan Martinez.

Spann lands a jab that rocks Krylov early. Krylov with a leg kick as he recovered. They tie up and Krylov lands a knee. They go to the mat and Spann ends up in the mount. They scramble as Krylov is grabbing the leg. Spann is looking for a D’Arce choke. He lets go of that but still has the neck. They get to their feet and Krylov has the back. Krylov gets the back and drags it down. Spann reverses and Krylov has the neck and looked for the guillotine choke but Spann gets out. Krylov has the back and is landing left hands. They’re scrambling and Krylov remains on the back. Spann makes him spill over and Spann gets in the guard but Krylov locks in a triangle choke and gets Spann to tap! Great submission from Krylov and this was a crazy one-round fight.

Romanov shoots for a takedown but Volkov sprawls and looks for the back. Volkov is looking to set up a choke as he lands left hands. Volkov with lots of punches looking to finish. Volkov with lots of punches from the back and it gets stopped. That was quick work from Volkov.

The Octagon is back at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas this weekend for a card headlined by two women’s flyweights on the track towards a title shot in a big spot in a fight that came together only a week ago.

Former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Jessica Andrade takes on rising prospect Erin Blanchfield in the five-round headline bout in the women’s flyweight division. Andrade is taking this fight on a week’s notice after Taila Santos was forced to pull out of the bout after her cornermen didn’t have their visas approved in time to travel to Las Vegas for the fight. Andrade is looking to extend her 3-fight win streak and is making a quick turnaround after defeating Lauren Murphy at UFC 283 last month. Blanchfield is looking to move to 5-0 during her UFC run and score the biggest win of her career.

In the co-main event, light heavyweights square off as Jordan Wright takes on recent TUF finalist Zac Pauga. Also on the main card is a heavyweight battle between Josh Parisian and Jamal Pogues, a light heavyweight fight pitting William Knight against Marcin Prachnio, and the UFC all-time wins leader Jim Miller looks to add to his record when he takes on Alexander Hernandez in a lightweight bout.

Ronderos gives up his back and Carpenter locks the body triangle in. Both land punches as Carpenter is looking for the neck. He has the rear-naked choke locked in and Ronderos taps! Nice submission win for Carpenter in his debut.

The UFC kicks off their month of November with the first of three events taking place during the month, the first back at the home base of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with a women’s strawweight headliner.

Third-ranked strawweight Marina Rodriguez looks to score her fifth straight win and secure a title shot when she battles seventh-ranked Amanda Lemos in the five-round main event. Rodriguez is coming off a decision win over Yan Xiaonan at UFC 272 in March, while Lemos is looking for her second straight win following a submission of Michelle Waterson-Gomez in July.

In the co-main event, two ranked welterweights go to battle as Neil Magny looks to become the all-time UFC wins leader in the welterweight division when he battles Daniel Rodriguez. Also on the main card is a heavyweight battle as Chase Sherman takes on Josh Parisian, a flyweight fight between Tagir Ulanbekov and Nate Maness, and a lightweight battle pitting Grant Dawson against former Olympian Mark Madsen.

Lemos gets the trip takedown and has the back and locks in a rear-naked choke. Rodriguez is fighting it and Lemos lets it go. Lemos now gets to the half-guard of Rodriguez and lands some shots. The UFC closes out their month of May before taking next week off with another event inside their home base at the UFC Apex, with this event headlined by the return of a former champion following a long layoff.

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm returns to action for the first time in over 17 months to take on Ketlen Vieira in a potential title eliminator bout in the bantamweight division. Holm fights for the first time since a decision win over Irene Aldana in October 2020, which was her second straight win. Vieira is looking to score her second straight win following a win over former champion Miesha Tate in November. The winner of this could be next in line for a title shot in the women’s bantamweight division.

In the co-main event, it is a welterweight bout that promises explosive action as Santiago Ponzinibbio takes on the wild-and-crazy Michel Pereira. Also on the main card is a middleweight bout between Chidi Njokuani and Dusko Todorovic, and a middleweight bout that sees Eryk Anders battling Jun Yong Park.

Colares with some big hammerfists from the top. Hooper looks for the leg and Colares blatantly grabs the cage and they are stood up and Colares gets a warning. Hooper shoots for the takedown but Colares reverses it to the top. Hooper looks for the leg and they scramble and Hooper on top then scrambles to the back. Hooper with punches from the back. They get to their feet and Hooper gets a takedown. Hooper with hammerfists from the top. Hooper with some short elbows and looks for the neck. The Octagon kicks off a busy month of June with the first event taking place at the UFC’s home in Las Vegas, with a heavyweight main event featuring two men looking to get back into the win column.

Sixth-ranked Jairzinho Rozenstruik and ninth-ranked Augusto Sakai square off in the night’s five-round main event as both look to rebound from a loss. Rozenstruik dropped a decision to Ciryl Gane in February, while Sakai was finished by Alistair Overeem in September. The winner will remain right in the mix for a potential title fight in the future.

Also on the main card is another heavyweight battle as Walt Harris takes on Marcin Tybura, a welterweight fight between Santiago Ponzinibbio and Miguel Baeza, and a pair of middleweight bouts as Roman Dolidze takes on Laureano Staropoli, and Tom Breese battles Antonio Arroyo.
