Andrade issues challenge to Kenny Omega for AAA Triplemania

Andrade appeared in video at tonight’s AAA Rey de Reyes event and challenged Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega title at Triplemania.

Towards the end of tonight’s Rey de Reyes, a video aired featuring Andrade. He said that his second goal was to face Psycho Clown, but the first goal was Kenny Omega. He eventually issued a challenge for Omega’s AAA Mega Heavyweight title at Triplemania. You can see the full video below:

The challenge comes as Andrade has signed two major matches in recent days, his first dates since being released from his WWE contract. He is set to appear on Federacion Wrestling’s debut event on June 19 in a multi-man tag match and will also face Alberto el Patron in Texas on July 31.

Kenny Omega has held the AAA Mega title since October 19, 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic he has only appeared for the company sporadically. He most recently defended it at Triplemania XXVIII in December, retaining against Laredo Kid. He also holds the AEW World title and most recently won the Impact World title.

There is no date set for this year’s Triplemania event.

December 21, 2020 Observer Newsletter: Wrestle Kingdom 15 cards, TripleMania

New Japan Pro Wrestling has at least the top matches announced for its biggest shows of the year, WrestleKingdom 15, taking place on 1/4 and 1/5 at the Tokyo Dome.

No exact number of tickets released has been announced, but the latest word has the figure well under 20,000. The shows are not sold out which, like the 12/11 Budokan Hall show, highlights the difficulty in getting people to attend live events under these circumstances.

Both shows are scheduled for 2 a.m. Eastern time starts and the shows will likely be with fewer total matches and shorter time than in previous years when the usual five hour shows usually seemed too short.

Announced for the first night is a battle of junior heavyweight tournament winners as Hiromu Takahashi, who won the Best of the Super Juniors tournament on 12/11, faces El Phantasmo, who won the taped Super J Cup that aired on 12/12. The winner of that match gets a title shot at IWGP jr. champion Taiji Ishimori on the second night.

MONDAY NEWS UPDATE

Bryan and I will be back tonight covering Raw, New Japan Tokyo Dome, and the rest of the wrestling and MMA news with Wrestling Observer radio tonight. You can ask questions for the show to [email protected]

Raw tonight is the Raw go-home show for TLC. A.J. Styles vs. Sheamus and Nia Jax vs. Lana are announced along with New Day & Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Lashley & Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin.  Bray Wyatt also  takes a Field trip to the Thunderdome. The NFL game head-to-head has the Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens.

AAA removed TripleMania from YouTube and Facebook due to issues with some of the music on the broadcast. They did release a new edited version of the show but it’s not complete matches. From an interest-level standpoint, it was way up from the last four years as far as international interest went.

My second book in the new Yearbook series with Inside the Ropes in the U.K. is being released. It covers 1993, including great bios of Andre the Giant, Kerry Von Erich, Eddie Gilbert, Hulk Hogan’s WWF departure for almost a decade, the birth of ECW, Michinoku Pro,  Pancrase and UFC, the Sid Vicious-Arn Anderson fight in a U.K. hotel and much more.  The book is available at amazon.com as well as www.wrestlingobserverbooks.com. Our first book released just over two months ago covering 1997 is also available at both places. If you are in the U.K., you can get both books delivered today.

Impact is expected to make a big announcement on tomorrow night’s show. Kenny Omega appears on the show this week once again. Karl Anderson vs. Chris Sabin was also announced.

WWE

UFC

  • Khlil Rountree vs Marcin Prachnio has been added to the 1/23 show.

OTHER NEWS

  • Kenny Omega talked about doing a match with El Hijo del Vikingo for his next AAA title defense. The match isn’t official and was more Omega talking about what he’d like, but AAA did listen and it feels like it’s a possibility.
  • L.A. Park did suffer a knee injury as it appeared on the show when catching the dive by Murder Clown. He said he doesn’t think it’s serious but he was unable to dance at his daughter’s birthday party and Murder Clown did send his daughter an apology. (thanks to The Cubs Fan)
  • The long-awaited Volador Jr. vs. Bandido NWA welterweight title match, scheduled for September but pushed back due to Bandido suffering from COVID, is scheduled for Christmas Day. Apparently Bandido tested positive for COVID antibodies because he previously had it and that’s why he was pulled from ROH, not that he has it now.  Evidently Maryland’s commission wouldn’t allow anyone with the antibodies to work.  Bandido took a blood test for COVID and it came back negative and also was tested this week by CMLL and it came back negative.
  • KSW runs 12/19 from Poland with an empty arena show on www.KSWTV.com:
Phil DeFries (18-6) vs. Michal Kita (20-11-1) for the heavyweight title
Marian Ziolkowski (21-8-1) vs. Roman Szymanski (13-5) for the vacant lightweight title
Antun Racic (24-8-1) vs.; Bruno Santos (9-1) for the bantamweight title
Artur Sowinski (21011) vs. Borys Mankowski (20-8-1) for the lightweight title
Tomasz Drwa (22-6-1) vs. Patrik Kinci (22-9)
Kacper Koziorzębski (7-2) vs. Marcin Krakowiak (9-3)
Albert Odzimkowski (11-4) vs. Christian Eckerlin (12-5)
  • Mads Krugger, the masked man in Contra Unit, will take on two men on Wednesday night’s MLW TV show. Also scheduled is ACH vs. Tom Lawlor and Alex Hammerstone returns. The show airs at 7 p.m. Eastern on YouTube and Fubo Sports on Saturday at 10 p.m. on Bein Sports.
  • Rodney Mack won the SWE Fury TV title from Niles Plonk and SWE champion Tim Storm retained over Lance Archer both on Saturday night in Greenville, TX.

FRIDAY NEWS UPDATE

For this weekend, we are going to have shows the next four nights. Garrett Gonzalez and I will be back for a Friday night show tonight. Bryan and I will have shows on Saturday after the UFC PPV show and Sunday after Survivor Series, plus Monday night after Raw.

Even though Dana White said he believes Khabib Nurmagomedov is going to fight again, Nurmagomedov said this past week that he’s done. White told TMZ that he would bet that Nurmagomedov would fight again, against the winner of either the Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor fight or the winner of Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson. White also said he’s got nothing planned for Jon Jones. “When he’s ready, all he’s gotta do is let us know…but we have no inclinations whatsoever that his guys is coming to fight.”

There was some house cleaning at WWE today. John Brody, the Executive Vice President and Global Head of Sales and Partnerships is now gone. Mark Kowal, who was the Controller and Principal Accounting Officer is also gone, and has been replaced by Karen Mullane. Mullane comes in with a $415,000 per year salary. a $61,500 signing bonus and $166,000 worth of stock.

UFC 255 tomorrow night:

ESPN+ at 6:30 p.m. Eastern:

  • Louis Cosce (170.0) vs. Sasha Palatnikov (170.5)
  • Kyle Daukaus (185.5) vs. Dustin Stoltzfus (184.5)
  • Alan Jouban (170.5) vs. Jared Gordon (171)

ESPN 2 AND ESPN + at 8 p.m:

  • Daniel Rodriguez (170.5) vs. Nicolas Dalby (170)
  • Antonina Shevchenko (125) vs. Ariane Lipski (126)
  • Joaquin Buckley (182.5) vs. Jordan Wright (185)
  • Brandon Royval (125.5) vs. Brandon Moreno (125)

PPV at 10 p.m:

  • Mauricio Shogun Rua (205.5) vs. Paul Craig (205.5)
  • Katlyn Chookagian (125.75) vs. Cynthia Calvillo (124.5)
  • Mike Perry (175.5) vs,. Tim Means (171)
  • Valentina Shevchenko (124.5) vs. Jennifer Maia (124.5) for the women’s flyweight title
  • Deiveson Figueiredo (125) vs. Alex Perez (124.5) for the men’s flyweight title

Perry missed weight by 4.5 pounds and forfeits 30 percent of his purse to Means. I have no clue why UFC is booking Perry, and worse, what he’s doing on the PPV while Royval vs. Moreno are not.

AAA is finalizing a date for TripleMania this year. It will be within a few weeks because the year is coming to a close.  It’s not scheduled for 12/26 as has been reported in some places, or at least wasn’t as of yesterday.

New Japan is back for tag team tournament night on Sunday morning at 3 a.m. Eastern, or midnight Pacific late Saturday night from Saku:

  • Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa vs.; Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr.

WWE

  • A correction from something printed earlier. The WWE will be moving out of the Amway Center in Orlando after the 12/7 Raw, not after the 12/4 Smackdown. So they will be going directly from the Amway Center on 12/7 to Tropicana Field in St Petersburg on 12/11. They can run there until at least mid-March it looks like.
  • For Smackdown tonight, Drew McIntyre appears on the show for a contract signing for his bout with Roman Reigns. Also announced are Daniel Bryan’s return against Jey Uso and Seth Rollins vs. Murphy.
  • Undertaker’s Tik Tok debut.
  • The Bellas and Daniel Bryan have moved from Phoenix to the Napa Valley in California This story touches on them being in Northern California when we were engulfed by smoke. (thanks to Barry Werner)
  • Denise Salcedo interviews Leon Ruff.

UFC

  • UFC is dedicating its 12/5 show to the Stuart Scott Fund. Scott had a strong connection with MMA. Viewers will be able to make donations to v.org/ufc
  • Raoni Barcelos has pulled out of a 12/5 fight with Merab Dvalishvili.  The Nevada State Athletic Commission would not clear Barcelos to fight because he fought in early November.

AEW

OTHER

  • Highlights from last night’s Bellator show. A.J. McKee is the real deal right now.
  • Invicta tonight from Kansas City on UFC Fight Pass was to be headlined by Emily Ducote vs. Montserrat Ruiz for the strawweight title.  Both fighters made weight but enhanced safety standards forced the postponement of the fight.  So the main event is now two-time Olympic judo gold medalist Kayla Harrison (7-0) making her debut at 145 against Courtney King (4-1).  Harrison, who competed in the Olympics at 171 pounds, said the last time she weighed 145 was at the age of 17.

  • CWE announced a Johnny Devine training camp on 12/5 and 12/6 in Winnipeg. He noted that he’s helped the careers of Jinder Mahal, Josh Alexander and Kaito Kiyomiya. For more info you can contact [email protected]
  • Konami will be missing this weekend’s Stardom shows due to a fever.  The company immediately removes everyone from the weekend with a fever these days.
  • NFC on 12/11 at District in midtown Atlanta in a Toys for Tots benefit show. They ask everyone to bring an unwrapped toy to the show with them.  There will be 12 MMA fights.

MONDAY NEWS UPDATE

Bryan and I will be back tonight to talk Raw, preview Wednesday, what the Smackdown numbers both do and don’t tell us, as well as taking your questions that you can send to  [email protected]. We’re also looking for your thoughts on Hell in a Cell, Bound for Glory and UFC 254, thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match from each show to [email protected].

Announced for Raw tonight is Randy Orton on A Moment of Bliss, Drew McIntyre opening the show with an interview, plus qualifying matches for Team Raw in the Survivor Series with Jeff Hardy vs. A.J. Styles, Sheamus vs. Matt Riddle and Elias vs. Keith Lee. Raw tonight goes against the Los Angeles Rams vs. Chicago Bears. Tonight’s show will have the first news of Survivor Series plans, and obviously there is a Raw vs. Smackdown elimination match. There was talk last week of a Raw champion vs. Smackdown champion match as Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns but that doesn’t look like it’s happening given Randy Orton beat McIntyre.

AAA announced today that Kenny Omega would defend the AAA heavyweight title against Laredo Kid at TripleMania. The hope is for the show to be held outdoors at Arena Ciudad in Mexico City but like everything, nothing is certain and no date was announced but they would like it for December. AAA also announced its Marvel Comic deal where Marvel will sponsor masked characters that it owns as pro wrestlers, which the plan is to debut at TripleMania, with Spiderman, Captain America, Thanos and Vernom.  They also announced Chessman vs. Pagano in a hair vs hair match.

An update on the WWE and running Orlando. According to WWE officials, there is no out date. The contract expires with the Raw after Survivor Series but they are in talks for a longer stay.  There are also talks regarding alternative plans. Really there are so many different things in play that anything about anything is almost like a short in the dark. I believe the company would rather stay in Florida but if/when the NBA starts its next season, then WWE won’t be able to have residency in any NBA arena, so they will need a huge arena with no major sports teams, pro or college (figuring college basketball plays this year and that also may not happen). Essentially if you’re running a sports organization, there’s nothing for sure more than a few weeks in advance. “We are evaluating options for ThunderDome’s location after out stay at Amway concludes (which the exact date is TBD).” As of right now, the NBA is looking at a 12/22 start with games played in the home cities rather than the bubble, but perhaps without fans. That would seem to mean WWE would have to be out of the building before that period at the very latest.  The NHL is looking at 1/1 to start a full season

Bellator runs on Thursday on CBS Sports Network, which is the show Jake Hager is on. I believe Hager will be on Dynamite the night before because that show was taped on Thursday.  Hager will face Brandon Colton (2-0) in a match that will not air on television but instead air on the Bellator web site probably around 7:30 p.m. Eastern Thursday night.  dam Borics and Nick Newell are also among those fighting in the streaming prelims.

Bellator’s scheduled TV fights on CBS Sports Network at 8 p.m. Eastern (remember that’s 5 p.m. on the West Coast as no more staggered feed) are

  • Veta Arteaga vs. Desire Yanaz
  • Henry Corrales vs. Brandon Girtz
  • Douglas Lima vs. Gegard Mousasi for the vacant middleweight title

These are the Wednesday wrestling lineups. NXT has Halloween Havoc:

  • Io Shirai vs. Candice LeRae for women’s title in a spin the wheel make the deal match
  • Damien Priest vs. Johnny Gargano for the North American title in a spin the wheel make the deal match
  • Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez
  • Cameron Grimes vs. Dexter Lumis in a Haunted House of Terror match

AEW has:

  • Adam Page vs. Wardlow in the world title challenge tournament semifinal
  • Kenny Omega vs. Penta Cero M in the world title challenge tournament semifinal
  • Cody vs. Orange Cassidy in a lumberjack match for the TNT title
  • Matt Sydal vs. Eddie Kingston
  • Town Hall meeting with The Inner Circle and MJF

Dwayne Johnson suffered a cut on the side of the left eye when training using chains and a chain caught him. It looks like he’ll be needing stitches for that one.  He posted a photo on his Instagram account.

WWE

UFC

  • Jared Cannonier suffered a broken left arm in his loss to Robert Whittaker on Saturday night.
  • Chase Hooper vs. Peter Barrett is scheduled for the 12/12 PPV show.

  • Debuting on Dark tomorrow night is Leyla Hirsch, who has worked in Stardom and will face Hikaru Shida. The show features Peter Avalon vs. Brandon Cutler where there must be a winner match.

Kenny Omega AAA title defense scheduled for Triplemania XXVIII

A match between Kenny Omega and Laredo Kid for the AAA Mega Championship is currently planned for Triplemania in December.

AAA made the announcement in a press conference this afternoon. The company said (via luchablog) that it hopes to run Triplemania in December. However, running the event would be based on Mexico City improving its current orange COVID-19 health tracker status or permission granted by the local government. Dorian Roldan said that there are no plans to hold Triplemania in an empty arena.

Omega and Laredo Kid were originally scheduled to have their match back at Rey de Reyes in March, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Omega has been AAA Mega champion for 371 days, defeating Fenix at Heroes Inmortales back on October 19, 2019.

Other matches announced for Triplemania in today’s press conference include Pangano vs. Chessman in a hair vs. hair match, and Arcano and Leyenda Americana vs. Terror Púrpura & Venenoide.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: Minus Five Stars, pt. 1

This week on the DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show, I begin our first ‘Minus Five Stars’ reviews of the worst matches in pro wrestling history according to our Dave Meltzer.

The first comes from AAA TripleMania 23 in 2015 where the Psycho Circus battled Los Villanos, a match leaturing a dude on a unicycle, latex masks, and a very, err, fat man under a mask. I also think somebody had a stroke or something during the match screwing up a fall.

So yeah, I have a lot to get to with this kickoff to the Minus Five Stars series.

F4W NEWSLETTER: Raw Reunion and WWE nostalgia

Joseph Currier looks at the successes and failures of WWE’s latest nostalgia episode.

WWE went back to the nostalgia well for last week’s Raw Reunion episode.

The show featured dozens of returns and was capped off by Steve Austin, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan all making appearances. Austin led a toast to Monday Night Raw to close the episode, with all of the returning wrestlers coming out and taking part in what was genuinely a sincere moment. Austin didn’t give out stunners to anyone. There was no one to come crash the segment. He spoke about all of the returners being a family, and it was intended to be a real celebration for all of them.

Raw Reunion also included an increasingly rare appearance by John Cena, D-Generation X, Kevin Nash & Scott Hall saved Seth Rollins from AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Bray Wyatt attacked Mick Foley and put him in the Mandible Claw, and there were nine 24/7 title changes. R-Truth started and ended the night as 24/7 Champion, with Drake Maverick (twice), Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, Madusa, and Ted DiBiase holding the title between Truth’s reigns.

SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE

We have three different weekend shows up on the site, a Friday show with Bugsy McGraw and talking AEW, a show last night covering G-1 and TripleMania as well as the latest news, and a show with Fumi Saito and Jim Valley talking Harley Race.

Colby Covington was the third most searched topic yesterday on the Internet with 200,000. President Trump called him up after his win over Robbie Lawler and Trump’s sons were at cageside for the fight.  There were more than 200,000 searches.  The only topics ahead were the shootings in El Paso and Dayton.  Harley Race’s was the 8th most searched term on Thursday with 100,000.  Cain Velasquez and the AEW sellouts did not track.

Hobbs & Shaw is estimated at $60.8 million for the weekend, easily No. 1.  That’s exactly at the $60 million mark projected by the studios.  The movie did another $120 million outside North America, the fifth largest worldwide opening in the history of Universal Studios.  It was No. 1 in 52 of 63 countries it opened in this past weekend.

My story on Cain Velasquez with quotes from his coach and AEW stars for MMA Fighting. Cody and Psycho Clown talked to ESPN about Velasquez.

Trevor Murdoch noted that a few days ago that Harley Race needed to be transferred from the hospital in Atlanta to St. Louis and take a Med flight because he was in bad shape.  Medicare wouldn’t cover it.  A call was made to WWE and Vince McMahon paid for it.

AAA Triplemania XXVII live results: Cain Velasquez debuts

AAA’s biggest card of the year, TripleMania XXVII, takes place tonight in Mexico City.

The card will be headlined by Blue Demon Jr. putting his mask on the line against Dr. Wagner Jr.’s hair.

AEW will be represented on the card, as a rematch from Fyter Fest will take place. Kenny Omega, making his AAA debut, will team with The Young Bucks to take on Pentagon Jr., Fenix & Laredo Kid.

In a most interesting six-man tag team match, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will make his professional wrestling debut, teaming with Psycho Clown and AEW’s Cody Rhodes against Taurus, Texano Jr. and a mystery partner. Cody is seeking revenge after an attack by his opponents several months ago.

Other title matches include Keyra defending the Reina de Reinas championship in a TLC match and Big Mami & Nino Hamburugesa defending the mixed Tag Team Championship in a four-way bout against AEW’s Sammy Guevara & Scarlett Bordeaux, Lady Maravilla & Villano III Jr., and Australian Suicide & Vanilla.

The pre-show starts at 8 p.m. EST on AAA’s Twitch account, with the main card starting an hour later.

Astrolux, Arkangel Divino and Dragon Bane defeated Aramis, Arez and Toxin

This was a wild opener, exactly the kind you need on a big show like this. If you love matches that go 200 miles an hour with tons of hot spots, this is for you.

Dragon Bane and Aramis have good chemistry with one another, they start things off. Lots of fast action. Lots of dives to the outside that takes everyone out. Triple 450 splashes by Divino, Arez and Bane for a two count.

Astrolux came in and faced off against both Toxin and Aramis, then tagged in Divino who did a cool springboard super rana off the top rope. Toxin jumped on Divino and laid out Bane with a reverse rana.

Bane did a crazy tornillo on the outside, with Aramis following up with a big dive. Arkangel cut off Toxin and gave him a hurricanrana to the outside that wiped everyone out. Astrolux soon followed with a running spanish fly to the outside.

After all the wreckage, Dragon Bane landed a 630 on Arez for the win.

They opened with a ceremony that involved flags with the AAA logo and the two people who were in charge of AAA, founder Antonio Pena and Joquain Roldan.

Lady Maravilla & Villano III Jr. defeated Big Mami & Nino Hamburgeresa, Scarlett Bordeaux & Sammy Guevara and Australian Suicide & Vanilla for the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles

In-ring wise this was just there. Lots of stuff going on. Some cool moves, and Hamburgeresa and Mami are way over, but they’re very limited.

Bordeaux and Vanilla went at it soon after the bell. She planted Vanilla with an iconoclasm as Suicide came in for the save. They took out Guevara with a 619 by Suicide into a German suplex by Vanilla. Suicide took out Guevara with a big dive.

Big Mami came in and confronted Bordeaux, then hit Vanilla with a Gory bomb. Maravilla and Villlano came in and confronted the champions. After botching some sort of double team maneuver badly, Villano lifted Hamburgeresa on his shoulders and planted him. They stacked both Maravilla and Villano together as Hamburgeresa hit a running cannonball in the corner.

Vanilla and Suicide came back in with stereo dropkicks as they took out people on the outside with splashes. Bordeaux and Guevara came back in, but Guevara was dispatched as Big Mami stinkfaced Bordeaux in the corner.

They built up to a spot where Hamburgeresa took out everyone with what I guess was a dive to the outside. That led to Big Mami laying everyone out with a crossbody to the outside. Back in the ring, everyone went after one another. Big Mami whipped Maravilla but she fell, grabbing her leg. Nino Hamburgeresa, who is currently in a love triangle between her and Mami, tended to Maravilla as Big Mami splashed Villano. Right before she was able to cover, Maravilla low blowed Hamburgeresa and rolled him up for the titles.

Big Mami cut a promo after the match, calling out Lady Maravilla.

El Hijo del Vikingo, Myzsteziz Jr. and Golden Magic defeated El Nuevo Poder del Norte (Mocho Cota Jr., Carta Brava Jr. and Tito Santana & Pimpinela Escarlata, Mamba and Maximo

This was alright, much like the other matches with fast paced action.

Everyone came out and did things to start things off. Mystesis, Tito Santana, El Hijo de Vikingo came in. Puedo de Norte came in dominated until Vikino took out one of them with a giant hurricanrana. Mamba took out Myzsteziz outside which allowed Pimpi and Maximo to come out with big dives. Golden Magic followed, then Vikingo, but I don’t know what he did because the camera freaked out upon execution.

Vikingo and Mystesis brought out a table. Back in the ring, Maximo was dragged out of the ring by Norte as Mocho did a big dive that sent Maximo through the table. Golden Magic took out Mamba and delivered a 450 but Pimpi came in and broke it in. Norte came back in, but Maximo and Mamba came in for the save. The other team all did stereo sunset flips for a near fall.

Pimpi took out everyone on the outside with a dive, Cota followed soon after. Brava and Vikino were in the ring as Vikingo landed a running death valley driver into the turnbuckle, then hit the inverted 450 splash for the win.

Pagano won the Copa TripleMania

The good news is that since the rules were explained this year, it was better than the other Copa Triplemania matches in the past. It’s still a battle royal, and not a very good one, but at least it was more coherent.

Daga and Eclipse Jr. started things off. Seems like minute intervals in between entrants. Drago came in, then Superfly, followed by Murder Clown, who came in and started to throw people around, including a fallaway slam/samoan drop combo on a number of wrestlers. Drago and Superfly took chokeslams.

Aerostar came next on top of a platform way above the ring. If you thought his last insane stunt didn’t scare him, well you’re right because he did a big crossbody at least 20-30 feet in the air. Monsther Clown. Aerostar ripped up Monsther’s mask; Monsther then retaliated with a steel chair shot. Puma King followed next.

Superfly was the first eliminated as Konnan came out next. He’s wearing a Donald Trump t-shirt. He low blowed Drago and watched as the Clowns and Daga beat up everyone else. Chessman entered next, then guess who? Vampiro. Konnan wasn’t happy about that. Vampiro took everyone out as he and Konnan went at it, with Vampiro eliminating Konnan.

Pagano came next as Vampiro just straight up left without being eliminated. Averno came in, then Rey Escorpion, followed by La Parka, who i think is the last person in. Daga and Averno work together against Puma King but he fights through, taking out Averno with a top rope hurricanrana for an elimination. Chessman grabs Puma King soon over and dumps him to the outside.

Meanwhile, Dave the Clown comes in and distracts La Parka long enough for him to be rolled up and eliminated. Pagano and Daga went at it, with Pagano scoring the elimination over him by dumping him to the floor. Rey Escoprion comes in and legdrops Rey Escorpion. Despite working with him, Escorpion gets upset with Escorpion as he ends up getting eliminated.

The last two are Pagano and Chessman. Pagano hit a cutter that Chessman took badly as Chessman countered with a spear. Pagano fought back and finished him off with an air raid clash off the top rope for the win.

The lights went out as suddenly LA Park was in the ring with his sons. Park jumped Pagano and destroyed the trophy as the sons beat him up with a steel chair. He said a lot of words that I know are bad words. I believe he made a challenge to Pagano, mask vs. hair. He then said some words to Marisela Peña before leaving. I dont think this is the hair vs mask match people want, but it’s probably the one that is most feasible.

Keyra came out to the ring in a wheelchair, as she blew out her knee a couple of weeks ago. It seems like the title is now vacant and the winner of the TLC match will become the new Reina de Reinas champion. Chika Tormenta turned over her wheelchair and was beating on her when Ayako Hamada came out to take Keyra’s place.

Tessa Blanchard defeated Lady Shani, Taya, Faby Apache, Chik Tormenta and Ayako Hamada in a TLC match to win the Reina de Reinas championship

This felt like a shorter version of a standard type of hardcore ladder match. Everyone worked hard and did spots you’d expect in a TLC match. A good brawl.

Hamada came to the ring and started beating on people with the chair. Lots of weapons. Taya introduced a staple gun and stapled 8×10’s on Tormenta’s forehead. Faby got the gun and put a few staples on Taya’s head as well.

Taya took out Hamada with chair shots as they were both on the ladder, but Tessa came in and took her out with a Canadian destroyer. Shani planted Tessa with a sitout piledriver. She introduced a piledriver as she gave Hierda a DDT into the tacks.

Tormenta set Taya on top of a ladder but Tessa attacked her and shoved her off the post, sending her to the floor and missing the ladder. Tormenta was taken out by medical staff as Taya and Tessa battled on top of the ladder. Tessa got the better of it and grabbed the title.

Faby Apache wasn’t happy and spat at Tessa after a confrontation. Taya also got into it with Tessa.

Cain Velasquez, Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown defeated El Texano Jr., Killer Kross and Taurus

Killer Kross was the mystery tag team partner.

So if you’re wondering how Cain did, I can tell you…he looked good! He was protected well and did some cool spots, including a hurricanrana. The match as a whole was designed to get him over as a wrestler, and while the match wasn’t much to speak about it, it did its job well overall.

Psycho Clown and Texano start things off. Psycho gets the better of things and tags in Cody, while Taurus is tagged in. Cody hits a long vertical suplex and a superkick that sends Taurus tagging in Killer Kross. Cody motions to Cain and tags him in.

Nobody wants to fight Cain as they all tag in one another. Taurus tags in and landed a hurricanrana. Yes. Kross came in and after Cain slapped him, his partners came in and took out everyone.

Texano came in with his rope and started attacking Psycho Clown in the ring as Kross posted Cain on the outside. He threw him back in which allowed Texano to whip Cain with the rope. Cain came back with a spinning heel kick to Kross as he and Psycho Clown double teamed Taurus, with Cody joining in. Taurus was taken to the outside where Cody did a suicide dive. Kross was set up on a table that collapsed as Psycho Clown went on the apron. Cody set it back up as Psycho splashed Kross through the table.

Cain grabbed Texano, rolled him around then put him in the kimura for the submission.

Cain’s wife and daughter were seen at ringside after the match. The rest of Los Mercenarios came in and jumped Psycho Clown as Cody and Cain chased them off, then celebrated with people at ringside, including a photo op with Marisela Peña.

Pentagon Jr., Fenix and Laredo Kid defeated Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks

This was real good, about on par with their Fyter Fest match. The crowd wasn’t as hot as that match, but it picked up towards the closing moments of the match, giving it a hot finish.

Nick and Fenix were in first and traded some really nice offense. Omega and Pentagon Jr. followed. The Elite hit superkicks on their opponents, but they countered with huge dives to the outside.

Matt worked on Fenix in the ring as Nick and Omega beat up the others on the outside. The Elite continued to dominate the match, putting everyone in stereo sharpshooters. Pentagon avoids a crossbody attempt by Nick as he fights off the trio. Fenix comes in and makes the save, with Pentagon giving Matt a piledriver on the apron.

Laredo followed with a spanish fly on Omega and a swanton by Fenix, but Matt pulled out the referee before he could count to 3. Lucha Bros. and Laredo Kid took everyone out with superkicks as a ref bump soon followed. A flurry of offense sends everyone down except Omega. Fenix hit a cutter, but the referee was still out.

The Elite land a triple low blow as they all plant their opponents with powerbombs. Nick assisted with a double Indytaker, but Fenix pulled out the referee. Omega ripped off the mask of Fenix He lifted him for the One Winged Angel but Fenix grabbed the mask and hit a reverse rana that looked pretty ugly, he landed right on his head.

After an assisted package piledriver, Laredo Kid hit a 450 splash on Omega. They then hit another assisted package piledrive, this time on Matt. Laredo Kid and Fenix hit double suicide dives as Pentagon covered Matt for the win.

Kenny Omega took the mic after the match. He told Fenix that he wanted his belt (AAA Mega title) and he’ll come back to Mexico to get the title shot. Fenix said he’s excited about this match and his answer is yes. Omega says he’s happy that he accepted his challenge, but he just made the biggest mistake of his life as he will prove that AEW is better than AAA.

Blue Demon Jr. defeated Dr. Wagner Jr. in a hair vs. mask match

This was one of the bloodiest brawls I’ve seen in some time. Both men bled early and by the end there was literal puddles of blood everywhere. Blood and guts is a term that’s been thrown around a lot recently; if you want to see a real bloody match, this is going to be it for some while.

They started outside of the ring as they brawled. Wagner was already bleeding about a minute into the match. Demon blasted Wagner with a beer bottle. Wagner took down Demon but Demon jumped right back. They brawled around the ring, and when back in the ring Wagner began to rip Demon’s mask.

Blue Demon, who is literally pouring blood out of his forehead, grabs a hammer and starts attacking Wagner with it. He sinks in a Fujiwara armbar, but Wagner grabs the ropes. Wagner throws him headfirst into a baking sheet on the post.

Demon applies another submission, but Wagner grabs a leg and gets himself free. Wagner tapped at one point, but heel ref Tirantes didn’t see it. Wagner rolled him up, but Demon kicked out. He also kicked out of the Wagner driver. After a third, Blue Demon’s entourage pulled the ref away. He came into the ring with a literal ragged looking rock. Wagner’s reps took Blue Demon away as Blue Demon blasted Wagner with the rock and got the pin.

After the haircut, Dr. Wagner Jr. said that he is officially retiring from pro wrestling. Cubsfan is saying he is literally booked for a match tomorrow, so write this one down. Blue Demon says that none of the Wagners will ever come close to being what his son will be.

Cain Velasquez’s debut, Fyter Fest rematch set for Triplemania XXVII

With AAA revealing the card for Triplemania XXVII at a press conference today, we now know who former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez will be facing in his professional wrestling debut.

Psycho Clown, Cody Rhodes & Velasquez will take on El Texano Jr., Taurus and a mystery partner. Velasquez appeared at a press conference for AAA in March, with it being announced that he would be making his debut at Triplemania.

It appears that Texano & Taurus’ mystery partner may be Killer Kross.

Triplemania will also feature a rematch from AEW’s Fyter Fest event. The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) will again team with Laredo Kid against The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & Kenny Omega.

Triplemania will be headlined by Blue Demon Jr. vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. in a mask vs. hair match. The show is taking place at Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City on Saturday, August 3 and will air live on Twitch.

Here’s the full card:

  • Blue Demon Jr. vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. in a mask vs. hair match
  • The Lucha Bros & Laredo Kid vs. The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega
  • Psycho Clown, Cody Rhodes & Cain Velasquez vs. El Texano Jr., Taurus and a mystery partner

UFC’s Cain Velasquez in Mexico City for Triplemania press conference

What was hinted about recently in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter may be announced Tuesday as former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is in Mexico City for the Triplemania press conference.

As part of an angle, the 36-year-old casually made a remark about Lucha Libre not being real which led to AAA stars like La Parka and Psycho Clown wanting to show him how real it is.

Velasquez spent one week training at the WWE Performance Center last year and is a lifelong fan, as is training partner and UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Velasquez is under a UFC contract, so the organization would have to agree to allow him to do the show. They have been hit-and-miss over the years about allowing their fighters to do pro wrestling, but seem to have relaxed that in recent years.

Velasquez was the company’s flagship fighter in Mexico when it first expanded into Mexico City. Unfortunately due to injuries, and a loss to Fabricio Werdum due to miscalculating the affect the altitude would have on his legendary cardio, he never fully reached his potential in that market. But, he is still the biggest MMA name in the country.

Triplemania takes place on August 3rd at Arena Ciudad in Mexico City and is considered one of the two biggest pro wrestling events of the year in Mexico, along with the CMLL anniversary show that traditionally takes place in September. This year’s show is headlined by Dr. Wagner Jr. putting up his hair against the mask of Blue Demon Jr.

AAA Triplemania XXVI live results: Four aces mask match in a cage

AAA presents their biggest supercard of the year with Triplemania XXVI from Arena Ciudad in Mexico City. Four aces wager their masks in proverbial high stakes poker. LA Park, El Hijo del Fantasma, Psycho Clown, and Pentagon Jr. meet in a four-way mask match inside a cage. The losing ace will lose his mask.

On a show with a main event dubbed “Poker de Ases” (Poker of Aces), bets also determine other stipulations on the card. The semi-main is an anticipated apuesta match months in the making. Faby Apache puts her hair on the line against the mask of Lady Shani to settle a feud that began over six months ago. Their backstory arguably has more depth than any other match on the card.

Jeff Jarrett defends the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship for the first time since winning the title a few months ago. Jarrett faces Fenix, Brian Cage, and Rich Swann in a four-way match. Four-way matchups are themes throughout the card. A ladder match involving four teams determines the number one contenders for the promotion’s tag team titles. Likewise, the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship is on the line in a four-way tag match.

Trios matches — including a street fight and a lumberjack match — are also on the undercard. The pre-show includes Australian Suicide defending the AAA Cruiserweight Championship in a multi-person match of some sort that likely includes ACH, Shane Strickland, and Sammy Guevera.

Follow along with our live coverage beginning approximately at 7 p.m. Eastern for the pre-show. The main card begins at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

The show streams live for free on Twitch with either Spanish or English commentary.

Not much to the pre-show. Technically, there was a pre-show before the actual pre-show — which mostly consisted of backstage interviews and live shots of an empty arena.

Hugo Savinovich talked with AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett in a pre-tape interview. They both put over the importance of tonight’s show. Jarrett mentioned his family’s deep history in the business. He vowed to leave with the Mega title. Jarrett had great things to say about Fenix — but Jarrett says he will still beat him tonight. Jarratt said he has his trusty guitar by his side, and he also has a few tricks up his sleeve. “The King of the Mountain” is ready.

Aside from the interview with Jarrett, this may be the most boring pre-show in the history of the pre-shows. Nothing but a wide camera angle for minutes upon end — but there was at least pop music to entertain us. Bless our hearts.

Business really picked up shortly after the show was set to go live on TV in Mexico. The announcers were all introduced one-by-one. Bell time was soon. Striker noted on commentary that a documentary about AAA is debuting right after this show on the live stream.

Two matches took place on the pre-show.

Dragon Bane, Astrolux & Freelance defeated Draztik Boy, Latigo & Aramis

Freelance pinned Aramis in a Llave a la Gloria match. This is part of an ongoing up-and-comer series. The match was wild with lots of dives and highspots. They were going all out. There were Asai moonsaults and springboards — along with a Spanish Fly off the apron on the floor.

There was a tribute in memory of Villano III.

Sammy Guevera defeated Australian Suicide, ACH & Shane Strickland to win the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship

Guevera pinned Suicide with a 630 splash to win the title. Dives from the outset led to two of the four squaring off in the ring at a time. The match was fast-paced with highspots galore. Everybody got to shine at times. Killer Kross ran in after the match to clean house. Kross offered Suicide a MAD t-shirt. Suicide accepted to become the newest member of the MAD faction.

Dr. Alfonso Morales and El Apache in a ceremony were inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame.

The opener for the main card was a mixed tag four-way.

AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Nino Hamburguesa & Big Mami defeated El Hijo del Vikingo & Vanilla, Angelikal & La Hiedra & Dinastia & Lady Maravilla

Hamburguesa scored the pinfall with a splash for his team to retain their titles. This was good and the crowd loved it. They had some comedy spots during the match with the closing moments getting more serious. They all traded near falls and saves.

Vikingo did a Shooting Star Press to the outside early on in the match. Angelikal executed a Phoenix Splash. Big Mami cleared the ring at one point — which really popped the crowd. Dinastia springboarded into a tornillo splash. Vikingo almost ate it — but he recovered for a double springboard. Vanilla was press-slammed out of the ring onto a pile of bodies. Big Mami then dived off the middle rope on everybody. The parade of dives continued down the stretch. Big Mami delivered a Black Hole Slam. Hamburguesa then jumped off the top rope with a splash for the pin.

Bandido & Flamita defeated Aero Star & Drago, Golden Magic & Laredo Kid & DJZ & Andrew Everett in number one contenders tag team ladder match

Bandido climbed the ladder to grab the contract to make him and Flamita the next contenders for the tag team titles. The match was a wild spectacle and a fantastic stunt show.

The first big stunt was Everett doing a springboard Frankensteiner on Laredo Kid off a ladder to the floor. Kid built a ladder bridge. Kid then broke out with a Spanish Fly on Everett off the bridge. DJZ springboarded into a twisting splash. Everett springed off the ropes into a Shooting Star Press to the outside. Kid took a sick and crazy bump off the ladder. Drago leaped into a cutter with Bandido on a ladder. Aerostar did a sunset powerbomb off the ladder. Kid and Aerostar both hung from the wire holding the contract. Bandido executed a moonsault/powerslam combo on Drago through a table. Flamita gave Aerotar a Death Valley Driver. Bandido then climbed up to unhook the contract hanging above.

The MAD faction lurked to the ring for promos and a challenge. Konnan was joined by Jeff Jarrett. Teddy Hart, Australian Suicide, Killer Kross & Juventud Guerrera. They called out and taunted Vampiro — who was on English commentary at ringside. Pagano and Murder Clown ran down to make the save — but they got a beatdown instead. Then they just left. Vampiro was livid because his music was not playing. He cursed and yelled about playing his music. They finally played his music. Vampiro then got in the ring to confront Konnan face-to-face. The ring cleared except for the two longtime rivals. They cursed at each other and exchanged insults. Vampiro had a contract for a match with Konnan. Before Konnan signs it, a loser leaves Mexico stipulation is added. The crowd was hot for the segment. A potential match is box office.

AAA Trios Champions Tito Santana, Mocho Cota Jr. & Carta Brava Jr. defeated Mamba, Maximo & Pimpinela Escarlata and Taurus, Puma King & Hijo de LA Park

Poder del Norte reatined their titles after they all splashed Hijo de LA Park for a pinfall. While the action was good, it felt rushed. They still managed to do a lot of cool stuff. The exoticos got to shine with triple dives and such. This was one of those don’t blink or you will miss something kind of matches. They tried to put ten pounds of goods into a five pound sack.

OGT (Averno, Chessman & Super Fly) defeated MAD (Juventud Guerrera, Jack Evans & Teddy Hart) in a lumberjack match

Averno pinned Hart with a powerbomb after a run-in by Poder del Norte. The lumberjacks had straps to whip anyone trying to powder. They even whipped the referee. The OGTs and MAD brawled — but they also mixed in highspots. Hart was doing creative spots as usual. Poder del Norte ran in to attack the OGTs. The dust cleared from the melee, and OGTs targeted Hart. Averno powerbomed him for the pin.

Following the match, OGTs and Poder del Norte continued to brawl. A fight almost broke out with a fan as the trios left the ring.

La Mascara, Rey Escorpion & El Texano Jr. defeated Joe Lider, Pagano & Murder Clown in a street fight

Texano pinned Lider in a brutal bloodbath. More so than a street fight — it was a weapons-filled death match. This was beyond insane at times. Weapons used included chairs, trash cans, ladders, light tubes, tables, thumbtacks, a shopping cart, and fire.

The brutality began from the start. Murder Clown was slammed through a bunch of chairs stacked close together. Pagano got powerbombed into a ladder. Lider was hit with a light tube and wore the crimson mask. There were chair shots to the head — too many chair shots to the head. Pagano missed a moonsault and crashed into light tubes. Even more light tubes were shattered in sick fashion. Murder Clown did a flip dive to the outside.

Murder Clown moments later press-slammed Texano on a table covered with thumbtacks. Pagano took an ugly bump being powerbombed into a shopping cart. Pagano was cut off when he was nailed with light tubes on an attempted dive. Escorpion and Pagano did a Spanish Fly spot off the ramp through a flaming table. Even more light tubes were shattered. Murder Clown splashed Mascara through a table. Texano doused his bull rope and lit it on fire. Texano then whipped Lider with the flaming rope to score a pinfall that finally ended the insanity.

Lady Shani defeated Faby Apache in a mask vs. hair match

Apache lost her hair after being pinned by Shani. Fighting from underneath, Shani rallied to win despite crooked officiating and underhanded tactics from Apache and company. Taurus was the second for Apache. He interfered liberally. Hamburguesa was in the corner of Shani. He tried to make a save, but left on a stretcher. La Parka came down to replace him as the second for Shani. El Hijo de Tirantes — a rudo — was the referee. He cheated for Apache throughout the match.

Apache ambushed Shani with a chair shot at the start. Apache layed it in with stiff shots. Shani later waffled Apache with a chair shot. Apache got color, and Shani bled through her mask. Shani several times applied submission holds. Shani got a near fall where Tirantes made a slow count. Apache delivered a shining wizard. Even with a fast count by Tirantes, Shani still kicked out at two. Tirantes blatantly broke up a crossface applied by Shani. He tried to hold Shani for a missile dropkick — only for Tirantes to take a bump instead. Shani applied the crossface again. Taurus hit Shani in the head with a chair to break the hold. Parka jumped in to hit a tope suicida on Taurus.

Another referee ran in to argue with Tirantes. He shoved down Tirantes — and then gave him a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Shani used a lungblower on Apache to cover her for the pinfall. Apache at first teased leaving without shaving her head. That was a callback to the last time she lost an apuesta match. Apache eventually went back to the ring and shaved her head.

Fenix defeated Jeff Jarrett, Rich Swann & Brian Cage to win the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship

Fenix pinned the defending champion — Jarrett — to win the title. Jarrett lost in his first and only defense of the championship. Dr. Wagner Jr. made a surprise appearance that played into the finish. Fenix ran wild at the outset — until Jarrett twice hit Fenix with a guitar. Fenix bled heavily as Jarrett worked him over.

Jarrett paused to do the Fargo strut alongside Swann and Cage. They then turned on Jarrett. Swann and Cage double-teamed Jarrett with the Hart Attack finisher. Fenix did a super Frankensteiner on Swann. Cage had Fenix in a delayed vertical suplex on the outside. Swann then took them both out with a dive through the ropes. Jarrett teased doing a dive — but he strutted instead. A trading of near falls began. Swann got one near fall. Swann moments later received a buckle bomb by Cage for a two count. Cage at the same time slammed and powerbombed both Swann and Fenix. Jarrett rushed in to apply a figure four leglock on Cage.

A wild scene unfolded in the front row when Marisela Pena threw a drink at Jarrett. Fenix then went for a dive where he accidentally wiped out Pena. Medical staff rushed towards ringside to aid Pena. Back in the ring, Jarrett hit the referee with a guitar. After Jarrett delivered a low blow, La Parka’s music blared. Someone in disguise came to the ring dressed as La Parka. That is a callback to a previous angle where Jarrett won the title. The imposter Parka unmasked to reveal himself as Dr. Wagner Jr. — who is the former Mega champion. A befuddled Jarrett was in shock. Fenix used a cutter in scoring the deciding pinfall to win the title.

LA Park defeated El Hijo del Fantasma after Pentagon Jr. and Psycho Clown escaped the cage

El Hijo del Fantasma lost his mask when LA Park pinned him in a singles match that followed a four-way cage match. There was really two matches rolled into one. Pentagon Jr. and Psycho Clown escaped the cage to save their masks in a four-way matchup. Fantasma and Park then faced off one-on-one without the cage.

Much like other matches on the card, this was a wild brawl. Likewise, the entire thing was another bloodbath. Chairs, tables, and trash cans were used inside the cage. Fantasma ripped the mask of Pentagon early on. Fantasma cut his hand badly during the melee. Meanwhile, Psycho Clown superplexed Park through a table. Pentagon and Psycho Clown fought while perched atop the cage. Pentagon shot a fireball at Psycho Clown — who fell back into the ring. Pentagon then climbed out to escape the cage. Therefore, he saved his mask.

Psycho Clown was next to climb out. He got the Roman Reigns treatment from the crowd — which is not an unusual reaction for Psycho Clown. Nonetheless, Clown escaped the cage to save his mask. From there, the cage was raised above the ring to begin the second phase of the match. El Hijo del Fantasma squared off with LA Park to decide who loses their mask.

Fantasma tore off the mask of Park. While that would normally be a DQ, Tirantes was the heel ref so he let the match continue. Fantasma splashed Park through an announce table with the help of Tirantes. Park bled profusely as Fantasma worked him over. A comeback by Park led to him doing a tope suicida. Park ripped the mask of Fantasma. Park then hit him with a monitor. It shattered and Fantasma got color.

They brawled into the crowd. Park hit Fantasma with various weapons. They got back into the ring to trade strikes and near falls. Tirantes was in total rudo mode. A ref bump sent Tirantes out of the ring. Park did a tope on both Tirantes and Fantasma. Back in the ring, Fantasma unmasked himself and sold like he was fouled. Two could play that game. Park also umasked himself and began selling a foul. Tirantes teased DQs, but he let the match continue.

Park shoved down Tirantes. Fantasma gave Park a low blow. Park still kicked out despite a fast count. They traded more near falls down the stretch. Tirantes and Fantasma began arguing. Fantasma shoved Tirantes. Park speared Fantasma and covered him. An angry Tirantes then counted the pinfall.

El Hijo del Fantasma unmasked after his father and son joined him in the ring. The night was still not over.

Dr. Wagner Jr. came to the ring to cut a promo on LA Park. A challenge was made for a hair vs. mask match at next year’s Triplemania. Park and Wagner cut promos on each other as the show drew to a close.

Alberto El Patron booked for Triplemania, reportedly visited WWE HQ

Alberto El Patron has been booked for this August’s AAA Triplemania event, but reportedly there is interest within WWE to bring him back to their fold.

AAA announced today that Triplemania will take place on August 25 in Arena Ciudad de Mexico during a press conference. They also announced that El Patron will be a part of the show, facing an international wrestler that has yet to be named.

Around the same time that was announced, PWInsider reported that El Patron was at WWE’s headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut last week to film material related to an upcoming WWE project on Rey Mysterio, and met with Vince McMahon while in Stamford as well. The report also said that there have been indications that Vince McMahon is interested in bringing back El Patron (known in WWE as Alberto Del Rio), mentioning that he has always been high on el Patron’s work as a performer.

This comes at a time where El Patron’s contract with Impact is set to expire next month. The report says that Impact has made it a priority to meet with talent who’s contracts are coming up soon. They said that results so far have been positive and they remain hopeful that the talents, including El Patron, will be signing new deals.

He left the WWE in 2016 after reportedly being unhappy about where he was slotted on the roster. He was originally set to return to AAA for 2016’s Heroes Inmortales X, but no showed after saying he was attacked outside his resturant he was operating at the time. Since then, he’s worked for Impact Wrestling and has also worked in the UK with Five Star Wrestling.

El Patron’s next high profile match will be with Impact, where he will headline their next PPV on April 22, Redemption, challenging Austin Aries for the Impact World title.

Rosemary releases statement on in-ring incident with Sexy Star

A day after being injured in a legitimate in-ring incident with Sexy Star at Triplemania, Rosemary posted a statement on Twitter last night to clarify the situation and thank people for their support.

She wrote: Let me make this perfectly clear: if you take liberties with someone’s body when they are giving it to you and trusting you to keep them safe, you are not tough. You are an asshole. And you don’t belong in this business.

Sexy Star decided to do just that this weekend at Triplemania. And while I have remained quiet on social media until I was more calm to address this situation, I have now been informed that she is telling people that it is a work. You are all now being informed that Sexy Star is a liar. She was a liar in the locker room when she was forced to apologize and instead cooked up some bullsh*t excuse that she ‘didn’t know’ and she is a liar now. You know if you are torquing on someone’s arm. You know an armbar is a real and dangerous hold.

The only reason your face is not broken right now is because a little voice inside my head as I lay on the apron kept repeating, ‘Don’t go to Mexican prison..’ (thanks, Demon)

However, turning to positives: the outreach from the wrestling community has been incredible. I’m overwhelmed with how much love I feel right now from friends, fans, and people I have yet to meet in this amazing business. We are a family and we protect our own. If you violate that, you are not welcome here.

I also want to thank the AAA locker room. Multiple people came up to me saying how sorry and disgusted they were. Thank you Hamada and Shani, who also had to deal with bullsh*t from Star during that match. Thank you, Vampiro, for professionally trying to calm a volatile situation, though, as you know, once the excuses started pouring out of Sexy Star’s mouth in lieu of an apology, it was over.

Thank you to the amazing GFW locker room, both present that night and not. I have so much support from everyone, and talent, crew and office have all reached out to show me that.

Rosemary suffered the injury when Sexy Star applied an armbar on her at the end of the Reina de Reinas title match at Triplemania on Saturday night. Dave Meltzer wrote in yesterday’s daily update that the explanation that was given was that Sexy Star thought all three other women in the match were after her due to Lady Shani allegedly shooting on her earlier in it.

In addition to the support Rosemary has received, Sexy Star has gotten significant criticism on social media from others in the pro wrestling industry. Cody Rhodes tweeted that Sexy Star will never step foot into one of his locker rooms and Brian James (Road Dogg) called for her to be blacklisted if the incident is legitimate.

WrestleCade also announced that they’ve removed Sexy Star from their November weekend in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They wrote that anyone who ordered tickets to her meet and greet in advance will be refunded as soon as possible.

Rosemary injured in apparent incident with Sexy Star at Triplemania

There was an incident involving Rosemary (Holly Letkeman) and Sexy Star (Dulce Garcia) at last night’s Triplemania show that resulted in Rosemary’s elbow popping from an armbar finisher.

The reports are that Garcia put the move on legitimately to end a four-way match for the Reina de Reinas title that also involved Lady Shani and Ayako Hamada.

There have been a lot of wrestlers from GFW who have posted on social media regarding the incident, as well as talent not with the company.

While it is always possible such a thing is a new age work, especially given Vampiro being said to be part of this, from all indications we’ve been given at this point it was not and there is a huge backlash against Garcia since injuries from moves and accidents are one thing, but something that would appear to be deliberate should not be part of the modern business.
